# Enter a number and see its location? A Pakistani studio relaunched an old app with 11.4M installs under a new wrapper

**What it is** : an Android 'family location sharing + phone-number locator' app that earns from ads and $14.99 in-app purchases. It's a reskin of the same studio's older hit.

**Why it took off** : it hasn't really taken off yet. One and a half months in, 14k installs and 0 ratings. Its steady few hundred installs a day come from the studio's existing templates, search terms and cheap-country paid acquisition.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't chase the phone-number-locator category. If you already run an Android tool portfolio, learn from its playbook: relaunch a proven template under a new account, go after low-barrier category charts first, and manage several accounts' monetization from one backend, applied to a search term that isn't crowded yet.

Grade C: the playbook is learnable, but the niche has hundreds of clones, relies on a promise that can't be delivered to drive installs, carries growing policy risk, and its own volume is small. Followers can't get its old templates or acquisition data. Still almost unknown

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-09-30 · 11-07 installs 14,327

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

In Sep 30, a Google Play app called 'GPS Phone Number Tracker' appeared. It's nothing new, but the playbook behind it is worth a look: the studio already had a 11.4M-install version of the same app. This time they swapped the account and package name and rewrote the description into compliant wording, then pushed up map category charts in cheap-install countries like Nigeria and South Africa. Below: who they are, where the volume comes from, and why you probably shouldn't follow.

### A 390-person-upvoted one-star review

The studio's older app is 'Phone Number Location.' The most-upvoted one-star review in its store reviews (390 people found it helpful) reads:

> 'No matter what number I look up, it returns one dot in Colorado. I checked three numbers and I already knew they were in Texas. Also, when rating in the app, a 'Submit' button appears at 4–5 stars; at 3 stars or below, the button changes to 'Send feedback' and you can only send an email. If you don't send the email, the rating doesn't count.'

Two sentences capture the category: 'enter a phone number to see the person's location' doesn't work, yet people install for exactly that promise; good ratings are farmed by intercepting bad ones inside the app. In the same review section, several 'positive' reviews are actually advertising hacking services that 'monitor your spouse's phone'.

This is that app. Listed in March 2024, by 11-06 it had 11.4M installs, 8,000 thousand ratings, a 3.7 rating, and grew another 48k in the last week (Google Play installs, 11-06).

### What the new package is

The features are the same old setup: create a family group, invite family members, and view shared locations on a map. The title and package name (gps.phone.locator.family.location.tracker) are all search terms, and the description repeats family locator, GPS location tracker and phone number locator.

What changed is the wording. The old app's description said 'enter a phone number and find that number's address and location on the map.' The new package specifically added two sentences:

> 'A phone number alone does not secretly reveal another person's GPS location.' 'The app does not support secret or unauthorized tracking.'

The data safety section says 'no data collected or shared.' But the title still reads 'Phone Number Tracker,' and the feature list still includes 'Track phone number location details.' The bait stays, and the disclaimer is added. This is a response to Google Play's tightening review of location and number-lookup apps (inferred, based on comparing the old and new descriptions).

Monetization is ads, plus a $14.99 in-app purchase.

### How big it actually got: not big yet

| | Metric |
|---|---|
| Total installs | 14,327 (Google Play, 11-06); at 10-11 it had only 476 (AppstoreSpy estimate) |
| Last 7 days | +5,178, averaging 700 more per day |
| Ratings and reviews | All 0 |
| Best rank | Nigeria maps free chart #61 (was #89 at 11-01), South Africa #71 (was #145 at 10-29), Malaysia #139, India #156, Philippines #162 |
| Top Grossing | Ranked #160–186 on 15-country map Top Grossing charts starting 11-05 |
| Version | 1.0.1, no updates since early October |

The Top Grossing point needs a caveat: these 15 countries' map Top Grossing charts are nearly the same ranking (Singapore, Malaysia and Nigeria all have it at #166, with the same apps around it), and it sits near the tail of a 199-entry chart. What it does show is that a small amount of in-app purchase started in early November; revenue can't be read from it.

A peer comparison shows how small: the fastest grower in the same period, 'GPS Location Tracker Plus', added 910k in a week, and another matrix app, 'Phone Tracker GPS Location', added 280k. This new package added 5,000 in a week.

### Who's behind it

The store page lists a registered-agent address in Sheridan, Wyoming, a common setup for overseas teams opening US companies. The contact page on the official site miczon.com lists three companies in the US, UK and UAE, plus Miczon LLP in Islamabad; LinkedIn is based in Pakistan, and Instagram posted about attending Google's 'Think Apps Pakistan 2026' event in Lahore. This is an Islamabad utility-app studio.

It has more than one Google Play account (matched via package-name prefixes, the official site domain and the contact email):

| Account | App | Installs (11-06) |
|---|---|---|
| Quality App Zone | Phone Number Location (the old app) | 11.4M |
| Quality App Zone | Live Street Camera View | 7.64M |
| Quality App Zone | GPS Phone Location Tracker (find my phone by clapping) | 680k |
| Easy Language Translator | Earth Camera Live Street View | 13.4M |
| MICZON LLC | Real Time Flight Tracker | 870k |
| MICZON LLC | GPS Phone Number Tracker (this new package) | 14k |

Combined, these accounts exceed 30M installs across maps and location apps. The official site's ads authorization file (app-ads.txt) lists 6 distinct AdMob publisher IDs, plus direct Meta, Pangle and AppLovin accounts. Several accounts sharing one monetization backend is a typical matrix-studio practice.

So this is the old app kept on a sibling account and the new package on the company's main account. The old one keeps running (still +48k a week), and the new one is relaunched with compliant copy. If the old app were delisted over its 'number locator' claims, the main account wouldn't be dragged down with it (inferred).

### Where users come from

- **Cheap-country paid acquisition (inferred, medium-high confidence)** . 0 ratings and 0 reviews, yet a steady few hundred installs a day, concentrated in markets where an install costs a few cents, Nigeria, South Africa, Malaysia, India and the Philippines, with rank climbing step by step. It doesn't appear in public Meta or Google ad libraries, but this kind of studio mostly uses AdMob app promotion, which is invisible from outside.

- **Store search** . Demand for 'phone number tracker' has already been proven by the old app reaching tens of millions of installs; the new package's title and description target that same set of terms.

- **Cross-promotion between own apps (inferred)** . With several tens-of-millions-install apps in hand, interstitial ads make it easy to funnel traffic to a new package, but there's no direct evidence.

- **No organic buzz** . Searches on X and TikTok turn up no discussion of it; searching 'phone number tracker' returns generic 'how to locate a number' videos unrelated to it.

Where the money comes back from: users install on the promise of 'enter a number and see the location,' and before they find out it doesn't work, some of it gets monetized through the paywall or ads. The old app's rating count is only 0.07% of its installs, and the 3.7-star average owes something to intercepting bad reviews. Users install, leave, and monetization depends on day one.

### Who it's competing with

This is one of the most crowded corners of the Google Play maps and navigation category, with hundreds of clones:

| Product | Scale | Compared with alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Google Find My Device / Find Hub, Google Maps location sharing | Built into Android, Find Hub has 1.6B+ installs | Free and system-level, with no feature beyond this one |
| Life360 | Play 227M installs, #1 in several countries' Top Grossing | A real family-safety brand, subscription-based |
| Google Family Link / Samsung Find | 223M / 51.9M | Official or preinstalled |
| Number Locator - Call Location and others | 13.8M | The same 'number lookup' bait with ads |
| Phone Tracker GPS Location | 15.9M, +280k a week | Another matrix studio, also buying cheap-country installs |
| GPS Location Tracker Plus | 2.63M, +910k a week | The fastest-growing peer in the same period |

It's no different from these in the product itself. Its only edge is operations: a template that has already racked up 10M installs, and a known sense of which countries to buy and what price makes the numbers work.

### Three things to take away

1. **Re-run the proven template under a new account.** While the old package is still climbing, publish a rewritten version from a second account: it spreads the ban risk and tests a new price point (the old app's in-app purchases run $5.99–39.99; the new one is set at $14.99).

2. **Go after the low-bar category charts first.** The map free charts in Nigeria and South Africa can get you into the top 100,0 with a few hundred installs a day, and the ratings climb with them, which also brings a little store featuring.

3. **One monetization dashboard for many accounts.** A single app-ads.txt lists several AdMob IDs. The accounts are consumable; the dashboard is the asset.

### If it were you

**C. Learn from it, don't copy it.** What makes this business work is cheap acquisition, first-day monetization and an account matrix, not the product. Hundreds of teams are already fighting over the phone-number-locator niche, and Google Play policy enforcement against it keeps getting tighter.

**Who it suits:** small teams already running an Android utility matrix, with an AdMob monetization dashboard and paid-acquisition data, who want an existing search demand to test their buying model on. For you this is a case study, not an opportunity.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie developers who want to build a real product that grows on word of mouth and good reviews. This niche's demand rests on a promise the product can't keep, so bad reviews, refunds and takedowns are the norm. Anyone without paid-acquisition experience has no edge in a market where each install earns cents and costs cents. Anyone unwilling to work in gray areas.

**How to do it** (if you already run a matrix): don't go after the phone-number-locator niche. Apply the same playbook to a utility search term with real demand that isn't yet crowded. Start with small budgets in low-bar category-chart countries like Nigeria and South Africa, and check whether ad revenue per install covers acquisition cost before you scale. Write the description the way the new package does, with the disclaimer up front.

**How to get users:** AdMob app promotion plus store search terms. Teams with existing apps can cross-promote using their own traffic. Don't count on content or creators; nobody in this niche shares organically.

**Is there a window to get in early?** No. There's no window left to race for: the niche has been crowded for several years.

**What would show this read is wrong:** (1) This new package reaches tens of thousands of weekly installs within 30 days, or charts in the top 50 of a major country's map top grossing chart. That would mean compliant phone-number locators still have room, and the playbook is worth more than it looks. (2) The reverse: the old app gets taken down while the new one survives. That would mean "new account plus compliant copy" really does extend the life of these apps, and matrix teams should copy it. (3) The new package stops growing after a month and falls out of the top 200. That would mean it was only a test run, and even the people who built the template don't expect much from it.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Find Hub / Google Maps location sharing | Big-company features | Years | Built into Android; Find Hub has 1.6B+ installs | System-level and free; this app has no extra features |
| Life360 | Android | 2008 | Play 227M installs, #1 in several countries' Top Grossing | A real family-safety brand with subscriptions; this app is a search-term funnel wrapped around a template |
| Phone Number Location (MicZon's account Quality App Zone) | Android | 2024-03 | 11.4M installs, 8,074 rating, +48k in 7 days | The template source for this app. This version changed the package name and account, rewrote the copy to be compliant, and set in-app purchases at $14.99 |
| Number Locator - Call Location (Averroes Studios and others) | Android | Early on | 13.8M installs | The same phone-number-locator bait with ad monetization, at roughly two orders of magnitude greater scale |
| Phone Tracker GPS Location(Esame Marketing) | Android | — | 15.9M installs, +280k in 7 days | Another matrix, also buying cheap installs in low-CPI countries, at far larger volume than this app |
| GPS Location Tracker Plus(Anuoluwapo) | Android | 2026 | 2.63M installs, +910k in 7 days | The fastest-growing peer in the same period. This app added +5k in 7 days |
| Google Family Link / Samsung Find | Big-company features | — | 223M / 51.9M installs | Official or preinstalled |

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition in low-CPI countries (inferred)** : 0 rating from 0 reviews, yet a steady few hundred installs a day. The map category charts in Nigeria, South Africa, Malaysia, India and the Philippines are climbing gradually. Meta and Google ad libraries don't show MicZon (both only track a list of advertisers, so absence there doesn't mean no spend).

- **Confirmed** **Store-search ASO (using search terms an older app already validated)** : the title "GPS Phone Number Tracker" and the package name are both keywords, and the description repeats family locator / GPS location tracker / phone number locator. The same studio's earlier app reached 11.4M installs on the same keyword set.

- **Confirmed** **Re-run under a new account and package name, with compliant copy** : the earlier app, com.miczon.sharelocation, sits under the shell account Quality App Zone, and its description promises "enter a number to find its location." The new package sits under the main account MICZON LLC and states "A phone number alone does not secretly reveal another person's GPS location." Its data-safety declaration says "no data collected, no data shared."

- Inferred **Studio cross-promotion of existing apps (inferred)** : the same studio has Earth Camera (13.4M), Live Street Camera View (7.64M) and Phone Number Location (11.4M). miczon.com/app-ads.txt lists 6 AdMob publisher IDs plus AppLovin, Meta and Pangle, which indicates several accounts share one monetization dashboard.

- Inferred **Content, creators, media, X** : x-radar shows 0 posts in 90 days, TikHub has no related content, and no press coverage.

## Why GPS Phone Number Tracker (com.gps.phone.locator.family.location.tracker) is getting traction

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: MICZON LLC (a US shell company for MicZon, an app studio in Islamabad, Pakistan) | Store release date: 2026-09-30 | Research date: 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

It hasn't really taken off yet. It has 14k cumulative installs worldwide and a 0 rating, and it sits at #60–#160 on free charts in the low-bar map and navigation categories in countries like Nigeria and South Africa. It's worth a look because of the playbook behind it. Pakistani studio MicZon already has a similar app, Phone Number Location, with 11.4M installs (under the shell account Quality App Zone). Now it has re-run that proven template, phone-number lookup plus family location sharing, under the main company account MICZON LLC, with a new package name and new copy, and it's starting with small buys in low-CPI countries. The growth comes from the studio's template, ad-monetization dashboard and acquisition experience. The product itself has no edge.

### 1. Data: how big it actually got

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cumulative global installs | 14,327 (2026-11-06); store tier 10K+ | googleplay library app_snap |
| New in the last 7 days | +5,178 (about 740/day) | Google Play library app_profile |
| install curve since launch | 10-11 at 476 → 10-21 reaches 6,351 → 10-29 reaches 9,149 → 11-06 reaches 14,327; daily additions swing between 200 and 1,500 with no breakout | googleplay library app_day_ext (AppstoreSpy estimate) + app_day |
| Rating / reviews | 0 / 0 | app_snap |
| Monetization | Has ads and in-app purchases ($14.99/item) | app_snap; store page reads "Contains ads · In-app purchases" |
| Best category chart position | Map free chart: Nigeria #61 (11-01 #89 → 11-06 #61), South Africa #71 (10-29 #145 → 11-06 #71); Malaysia #139, India #156, Philippines #162 | chart_rank |
| Top Grossing | Since 11-05, it has ranked #160–#186 on the map top grossing chart in 15 countries | chart_rank |
| Version | No updates since 1.0.1,10-05 | app_snap |

**Discount the top grossing ranks:** the map top grossing charts in these 15 countries are almost identical (sg, my and ng all show #166, with the same apps around it), which means they're one aggregated chart. It also sits at the tail of a chart 199 names long. So this only shows a small amount of in-app purchase revenue starting around 11-05. It says nothing about revenue scale.

### 2. Who they are: the MicZon studio and its account matrix

- **MICZON LLC** : the store page lists the address 30 N Gould St Ste 41187, Sheridan, WY. That's a public address for a Wyoming registered-agent service, which overseas teams commonly use to set up US LLCs. The miczon.com contact page lists "Miczon LLC, USA / Miczon Limited, UK / Miczon LLC, UAE / Miczon LLP Islamabad." LinkedIn is pk.linkedin.com/company/miczon, and Instagram @lifeatmiczon posted about attending "Think Apps Pakistan 2026" hosted by Google in Lahore (per Jina search results). So this is an Islamabad-based studio making utility apps.

- **Several accounts under the same company** (from the googleplay library, linked by package prefix, domain and email): | Account | App | Installs | Ratings | |---|---|---|---| | Quality App Zone | Phone Number Location (**com.miczon.sharelocation** , listed 2024-03) | +48k in 11,425,066,7 days | 8,074,3.73 stars | | Quality App Zone | Live Street Camera View (email domain zongley.com) | +73k in 7,637,745,7 days | 13,371 | | Quality App Zone | GPS Phone Location Tracker (find-my-phone by clapping) | 682,758 | — | | Easy Language Translator | Earth Camera Live Street View (com.miczon.android..., email admin@miczon.com) | 13,367,312 | 26,473,2.97 stars | | MICZON LLC | Real Time Flight Tracker | 870,531 | — | | MICZON LLC | **GPS Phone Number Tracker (this app)** | 14,327 | 0 |

The MICZON LLC main account also has AI Content Detector, Cast to TV, Restore Deleted Messages, GPS Map Photo and AI Outfit (listed under "More by MICZON LLC" on the store page). Added together, this studio has more than 30M cumulative installs across map and location apps.

- **Monetization dashboard** : miczon.com/app-ads.txt lists **6 distinct AdMob publisher IDs** , plus DIRECT entries for Meta, Pangle and AppLovin (10-12 crawl). One app-ads.txt authorizing several AdMob IDs is the typical setup for a multi-account matrix sharing one monetization dashboard.

- **iOS version** : Miczon LLC has "Phone Tracker, Family Location" on the App Store (listed under id6746744205,2025-08-07, with only 18 ratings in the US store). The recall rationale mentions the "old version has been around for 2025 years," which may refer to this iOS version. The Android package is genuinely new: AppstoreSpy only started tracking it at 10-11, when it had 476 installs, which matches the 9-30 listing date.

- **Correcting the recall rationale** : the recall said the earlier app had "about 800k cumulative installs," which is wrong. The earlier app, com.miczon.sharelocation, actually has **11.4M installs** (Google Play shows 10M+, per the googleplay library 11,425,066). The 880k figure is the total for the MICZON LLC main account in the library (mostly 870k from Flight Tracker).

### 3. Competitors

A huge number of products do the same thing (family location sharing / "enter a number to locate"). This is one of the most crowded corners of Google Play's map and navigation category:

| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this product |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Find My Device / Find Hub + Google Maps location sharing | Big-company features | Years | Built into Android; Find Hub has 1.6B+ installs | Free, system-level; this app has no feature that goes beyond it |
| Life360 | Android/iOS | 2008 | Play 227M installs, #1 in several countries' Top Grossing | A real family-safety product with a brand and subscriptions; this app is only a template wrapper |
| Google Family Link / Samsung Find | Big-company features | — | 223M / 51.9M | Preinstalled or official |
| Phone Number Location (same studio, Quality App Zone) | Android | 2024-03 | 11.4M installs, 8,074 rating, +48k in 7 days | It's the template source for this one: same "phone number location + shared location code" setup, with a new package name, a new account, and more compliant copy. |
| Number Locator - Call Location (Averroes Studios and others) | Android | Early on | 13.8M installs | Same "phone number location" bait plus ad monetization. |
| Phone Tracker GPS Location(Esame Marketing) | Android | — | 15.9M installs, +280k in 7 days | A China-facing portfolio, also buying installs in low-CPI markets. |
| GPS Location Tracker Plus(Anuoluwapo) | Android | 2026 | 2.63M installs, +910k in 7 days | Peers that grew fastest in the same period, at volumes two orders of magnitude bigger than this one. |
| GPS Tracker & Location Tracker(NAICOO) | Android | — | 2.37M, #1 on the Nigeria maps chart | Also climbing charts in Nigeria. |

(Big-tech and rival figures come from the googleplay library, and we also drew on existing reports in this directory on similar apps: play_com.mobile.number.location.phonenumbertracker, play_com.zonetrack.gps.family.locator, play_com.findmyphone.position.locationtracker, etc.)

**Verdict** : there are over a hundred competitors and this one has nothing unique in its features. Its 7-day install gain (+5k) ranks last among its peers.

### 4. Growth tactics (where users come from)

1. **Small paid buys in low-CPI countries (inferred, medium-high confidence)** : 0 ratings and 0 reviews, yet it steadily gets several hundred installs a day, 8 days +5,178. Rankings climb country by country: Nigeria 89→61, South Africa 145→71, with volume concentrated in ng/za/my/in/ph, markets where each install costs a few cents. Neither Meta's Ad Library nor Google's Ad Library shows any advertiser or landing package for MICZON / zongley, but those libraries only track a named set of products, so **no match doesn't mean no spend** . AdMob app promotion is the most common channel for studios like this; we cannot verify it.

2. **Store-search ASO and category keywords from the older app** : the title "GPS Phone Number Tracker" and the package gps.phone.locator.family.location.tracker are all search terms; the description repeats family locator / GPS location tracker / phone number locator. The "phone number tracker" search intent was already shown by the predecessor to bring in tens of millions of installs.

3. **Compliance rewrite and relaunch under a new account** : the predecessor's description promised that entering a phone number reveals its address and location. The new package's description deliberately says "A phone number alone does not secretly reveal another person's GPS location" and "does not support secret or unauthorized tracking," with a data safety declaration of "no collection, no sharing." This responds to Google Play's tightening review of tracking and number-lookup apps: new account, new package name, compliant copy, same title bait, lowering the risk of the whole portfolio being pulled together. This point is inferred, based on comparing the two descriptions.

4. **Cross-promotion among studios (inferred)** : the same studio has existing apps at the 10M tier, Earth Camera, Live Street Camera View, and Phone Number Location, and tool studios often use interstitial and native ads to push traffic to new packages. No direct evidence.

5. **Creators / influencers / media / X** : x-radar searches for "miczon" and "\"GPS Phone Number Tracker\"" returned 0 posts over 90 days; TikHub search for miczon returned nothing relevant; searching "phone number tracker" surfaces generic "how to locate by number" tutorials and clickbait videos, unrelated to this app. **No organic buzz** .

**Where the money comes from** : ads (app-ads.txt lists AdMob ×6, AppLovin, Meta, Pangle) plus $14.99 in in-app purchases / subscriptions. Users who come in for "enter a number to see its location" get monetized partly through the paywall and ads. The predecessor scored 3.7, with ratings / installs around 0.07%, consistent with a "install, use, leave, monetize on day one" model.

### 5. Differentiation

- Versus big tech and Life360: no difference, the features are a subset of theirs.

- Versus other portfolio apps in the same category: the real difference isn't the product but the **operations** : (a) the same studio holds a proven 11.4M-install template and spend data, so it knows which countries to buy and what bid breaks even; (b) the new package's copy was made Play-policy compliant, which may give it a longer lifespan.

- Are these differences why it's growing: yes. It steadily gets several hundred installs a day at 0 ratings, and that comes from this template and this spend, but the volume is small, so it can't yet be called a breakout.

### 6. How visible it is

- Revenue isn't public, no media coverage, and 0 discussion on X and TikTok. The only web traces are the Play page and auto-aggregated pages like CNET Download and AppBrain. **Few people know about it yet** .

- But this niche is an open red ocean: hundreds of matrix studios are running the same "number-based / family-based" positioning, and the category charts on Sensor Tower and Similarweb are full of copies (on Similarweb's Peru map, the Top Free chart has the 11-03 predecessor at #27).

### 7. What to borrow

- **Relaunch a proven template under a new number** : while the old package is still at 10M+ scale and adding +50k a week, ship a compliant new package from the main account to spread the risk of a single account being banned, and test a new monetization price ($14.99, versus the predecessor's $5.99–39.99).

- **Pick low-barrier charts to get volume first** : Nigeria and South Africa maps category charts reach the top 100 with a few hundred installs a day, which also brings secondary exposure in the store.

- **One app-ads.txt listing several AdMob IDs** : a multi-account portfolio sharing one monetization backend.

### 8. Still unclear

- Whether it is really buying installs and through which channel: none of our Meta or Google ad libraries cover it.

- How much in-app revenue: we only know it has appeared at the tail of the aggregated top-grossing chart since 11-05.

- Whether the new package will replace the predecessor (is the predecessor being demoted or facing policy risk), or both run in parallel: the predecessor is still adding +48k over 7 days, so for now it looks parallel.

- AppstoreSpy's daily gains are averaged, so single-day figures should not be taken at face value.
