Borrowed name, 7 weeks, 100k installs: How the "VizoTV" IPTV player took off
What it is An Android IPTV player that only imports someone else's playlists to watch live TV and movies. It includes no content of its own, is free, makes money only from ads, and borrowed its name from another IPTV app in the same category that was blowing up.
Why it took off It launched under the same name during the weeks the rival was growing fastest, grabbing its brand searches. Then the official app was pulled, and the new European season's IPTV crackdown pushed people to switch players. Those two step-ups look like paid acquisition being turned on and off, and it's happening with a store page that has only 3 stars and 5 stars and a 4.8 rating.
Grade D How you could follow it Don't copy this. Borrowing a name gets you reported and delisted, and this shelf saw 4 new accounts come in over 54 months. If you do enter, do what none of the bulk white-label apps did: a program guide, Xtream login, a TV interface, ads light enough to actually use, sold as a one-time purchase or subscription.

The Google Play store has two IPTV players called "VizoTV." One is from Nonari Tec, launched in late July, with 1.08M installs. The other is from a Vietnamese "design and construction" company, launched in mid-September. It copies the name and the same features, and reached 7k in 100 weeks. The latter has nothing new as a product; it runs on category demand, a borrowed name, and launch tactics. Below, I break down how it was done and why you shouldn't copy it.
Step three of a source-selling site
On Nov 6, I opened vizotv.shop. The title reads "VizoTV – Premium IPTV Service 2026", and the homepage claims 150k live channels and 120k movies and series, with "European anti-buffering servers." 3 months $24.99,6, 39.99 months $, and the order button leads to a WhatsApp with a UK area code. The purchase flow has three steps, and the third is:
Download a compatible app, enter your VizoTV code, and start watching.
(Download a compatible app, enter your VizoTV code, and start watching.)
Someone who bought from this source would likely next open the Play Store and search "VizoTV." Two results show up: Nonari Tec's "VizoTV: Live TV & Channels" and GiaThinh Design and Construction Limited Company's "VizoTV: IPTV Live Channels." There's no way to tell whether these two apps are connected to this source site. The site's metadata shows it was published in Jul 4, earlier than both apps (inferred; metadata isn't always accurate).
What it is
An IPTV player that "brings its own source": you import a playlist from a URL or local file, browse by live TV, movies, series, and sports, and can favorite, build collections, search, cast, and set a sleep timer. It provides no channels itself. Free, with ads, no in-app purchases, version 1.0.1, updated once in Oct 8 (Google Play listing, 11-06).
The developer profile is typical. The developer website is an empty blogspot with one line on the page: "There's nothing here." The contact email is a personal Gmail. The privacy policy is hosted on Google Sites. The same account also has a PDF reader published in Oct 19, with 20k installs.
The name was lifted from next door
Nonari Tec's VizoTV launched in Jul 30. AppstoreSpy estimates it went from 11k to 20k between Sep 32 and 108, and then to 25k by Sep 240. GiaThinh's version launched in Sep 15, right in the weeks when the original was climbing fastest. The first half of its title copies "VizoTV," and the second half is "IPTV Live Channels."
They aren't the same company. The package names differ, the developer websites and emails differ, and the descriptions were written separately. Functionally they're nearly identical: import a list, watch live TV. The scale differs by about tenfold. Nonari's version has 6M cumulative installs as of Nov 1.08, +7k in 506 days, and 16.7k ratings. GiaThinh's has 101k, +7k over 32.8 days (Google Play install counts, 11-06).
There's no way to measure from outside how much traffic the borrowed name brought in. What is certain: anyone searching "VizoTV" in the store or online will see both.
How the volume came in: two "switch-like" step jumps
AppstoreSpy's estimated curve:
| Timeline | What happened |
|---|---|
| 9-15 launch to 10-09 | 3 weeks with almost no traffic, 6,581 cumulative |
| 10-08 | Launched 1.0.1 |
| 10-12 to 10-15 | Four straight days at +9k a day, rising to 14.5k, cumulative jumped to 53k |
| 10-16 to 10-29 | Dropped back to a few hundred to a couple thousand a day; the last two days were basically 0 |
| From ¥10-30 | Second wave: three to six thousand a day, 11-05 to 100k |
It turned on and off abruptly, twice. That doesn't look like organic growth. It looks more like someone flipping a paid-acquisition budget on and off (inferred; no ads for it turned up in the public Google or Meta ad libraries, but not finding them doesn't mean none ran).
It has only charted in the Video Players category's free chart, never the overall chart. On Nov 6 it charted in 15 countries. Over the week, the clearest gains were in European football markets: Italy rose 139 spots to #51, Spain rose 157 to #60, and France rose 184 to #62. Nigeria, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico held around #90 (Google Play category charts, 10-29 to 11-06). These are the markets with the highest demand for pirated football, and Italian, Spanish, and French ad CPMs are high, so an ad-only payback model could work there (inferred).
The ratings look abnormal
On Nov 6, its store page showed 4.8 stars from 365 ratings. Broken down: 3 one-star ratings, 45 five-star, and none at 5, 315, 1, 2 or 4 stars. For comparison, Nonari's distribution is 1 five-star 1,921, 2 four-star 349, 3 three-star 349, 4 two-star 2,707 and 5 one-star 11,221, which is what a normal app looks like.
The rating count grew steadily by 11 to 24 a day, unrelated to installs. On Nov 3, installs rose +18.9k but ratings added only 11. On days when installs were 0, ratings still rose about 20. The only visible written review is from Oct 27 and says "good."
Only 3-star and 5-star reviews, growing at a steady pace with almost no text. Looks like in-app prompts for rating plus filtering, or some other method (inferred). The effect is straightforward: it props up a new app's store page to 4.8 stars and lifts the install rate of people who land on it.
Nonari's real review section shows the other side of these apps: "I watched 5 ads before I even saw a channel, and then one ad covered half the screen and blocked the channels" (Joshua Westra, 9-18,197 people found it helpful); "I picked English, got to the home screen, and saw 4 ads, with ads stacked on top of other ads" (Daniel Bitterman, 9-20).
Why now: the original was pulled, and the new season is cracking down
IPTV players have been a huge search term on Google Play for a long time. 145 apps with iptv in the name or package ID added 7M installs combined over the last 6.04 days, and 54 of them were launched within the last 120 days (Google Play, 11-06).
Two things drove the crowd of white-label apps. In 2026 March, JioStar got Google Play to remove 36 IPTV apps, including XCIPTV, Televizo, and IPTV Smarters (Storyboard 18,2026-03-04), and white-label apps filled the gap. Then, after the 2026/27 season started, LaLiga began cracking down on IPTV at scale (RTVE, 2026-09-06), and users kept switching sources and players.
Who it's competing with
Among the same batch of new white-label apps, it's mid-to-low tier. Of the 120 IPTV apps launched in the last 54 days, they added +7M combined over 2.84 days, and its 32.8k is just over 1% of that:
| Product | Launched | Cumulative installs (11-06) | 7 new in the last day |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamTV – Live Channels & TV | 8-17 | 1.1M | +768k |
| VizoTV: Live TV & Channels (Nonari Tec, the name's original owner) | 7-30 | 1.08M | +506k |
| TVora: Live TV & Movies (another Vietnamese "electromechanical company" account) | 7-30 | 625k | +322k |
| IPTV Video Player: Live TV(Mee Game) | 9-17 | 209k | +152k |
| IPTV Stream & Live Channels (a Vietnamese "trading company" account) | 9-30 | 177k | +134k |
| VizoTV: IPTV Live Channels(GiaThinh) | 9-15 | 101k | +33k |
Source: Google Play, 11-06. The two apps that launched after it each added more than 4 times its installs over 7 days. At its peak in Italy, GoLive TV ranked #2 in its category, and it ranked #51. Above it sit the same-template leaders that hit ten to forty million installs a year or two earlier, plus the legit players like TiviMate, Televizo and IPTV Smarters, which offer EPG, Xtream login, TV support and subscriptions, along with free ad-free VLC and Kodi.
It hasn't done anything no one else has done. It has no program guide, no Xtream login, no TV app. None of that.
This playbook itself
Broken down, it's the standard Vietnamese app-factory process:
- Register a developer account under a company name like "XX Construction Co." or "XX Trading Co.", with an empty blogspot or netlify site and a personal Gmail address. The same accounts have shipped short-drama, tarot and IPTV apps this year, some with millions of installs (inferred: the pattern is confirmed, but I haven't identified who is behind it).
- Reuse the same player template, stuff the title and description with IPTV, Live Channels, Movies, Sports, Playlist, and include a "we don't provide content" disclaimer that gets past review.
- Borrow the name of whichever app in the category is rising.
- After launch, run ratings campaigns and set a budget. Add money to whichever listing takes off, and leave the rest alone.
Almost nothing exists outside the store: no one talks about it on TikTok, X or Reddit, and the only things you can find are auto-generated directory pages from AppBrain and Appfigures.
If it were you
Verdict: know it's there, don't copy it.It's a copycat of a copycat: the name is borrowed from Nonari's VizoTV, the template is lifted from this whole batch of white-label IPTV apps, and it's running slower than its peers. In 4 months this shelf has seen 54 new listings, and the leaders' 7-day gains are more than twenty times its own.
Who it's for: teams that already mass-publish utility apps on Play, run multiple developer accounts, buy Google App Campaigns and can calculate ad payback. For them this is a routine category, not a new opportunity.
Who it's not for: solo or two-person indie developers who want to build something different. Users here want free sports and movies, and however good your product is, these people came for pirated streams. Product quality doesn't earn money in this niche, and you also take on copyright complaints and the risk of the whole batch being pulled.
How to do it (if you still want to): Stop borrowing names. Getting reported for impersonation is the fastest way to be delisted. If you do enter, build what this app and the white-label batch don't have: program guides, Xtream login, TV and TV-box support, and ads light enough to actually use. Move toward what TiviMate does, and sell a one-time purchase or a subscription. The most common complaint in Nonari's reviews is ads, and that's the one thing you can beat on product.
How to get users: store search plus Google App Campaigns, targeting Italy, Spain, France and Latin America, where people switch players most during football seasons. Add budget around the big matches within the season.
Timing: the window for white-label apps depends on Google's delisting cadence. Another round of IPTV crackdowns could come at any time, so don't plan around "we'll have it built in a few months."
Signs you've got it wrong: ① GiaThinh keeps gaining installs after November without any new budget, which would mean the "VizoTV" name gets more search traffic than expected and borrowing it is worth more than you think; ② one of these 54 new white-label apps starts getting organic recommendations outside the store, with reviews saying things like "better than TiviMate," which would mean product quality still matters in this category and is worth another look.

- Inferred Name borrowing (copying the rising "VizoTV"): Nonari Tec's VizoTV launched 7-30, grew from 32k to 108k between 9-11 and 9-20 (AppstoreSpy estimate); GiaThinh launched 9-15 with the same name; searching "VizoTV" on the web shows both apps side by side; a source site, vizotv.shop, tells buyers to "download a compatible app and enter the VizoTV code"
- Inferred Store search / ASO (terms like IPTV and Live Channels): title and description stuffed with category keywords; listed only in the VIDEO_PLAYERS category chart; no content footprint outside the store
- Confirmed Platform events: legit apps delisted + European football blocks IPTV: 2026-03 JioStar had Play delist 36 legitimate IPTV apps (Storyboard18 2026-03-04); LaLiga blocked IPTV during the 2026/27 season (RTVE 2026-09-06); of the 145 IPTV apps in our library, 54 launched in the last 120 days; its fastest growth is in Italy, Spain and France

Bottom line
It's a same-template IPTV shell player built by a Vietnamese "shell company" account, with nothing differentiated about it. It stands out for one reason: it copied the name of another app in the same category that was taking off, "VizoTV: Live TV & Channels" (Nonari Tec, launched 7-30, 1.08M installs, +506k in 7 days), and it launched during the weeks when that app grew fastest (from 32k to 108k between 9-11 and 9-20). Add the demand behind the broad IPTV search term, two stepped growth spikes in October (which look like paid acquisition), and steadily climbing ratings, and it reached 100k installs in 7 weeks. Among the 50 or so new IPTV players from the same period, it sits in the middle to lower tier.
What it is
- An Android IPTV player that brings its own sources: import playlists from a URL or local file, browse live TV, movie, series and sports categories, with favorites, custom collections, search, casting and a sleep timer. It provides no channels itself (per the store listing).
- Developer: "GiaThinh Design and Construction Limited Company." The developer website is an empty blogspot (giathinhconstruction123.blogspot.com, with the page reading "There's nothing here"); the contact email is a personal Gmail ([email protected]); the privacy policy is hosted on Google Sites (library

app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimate):- Launched 9-15, got 6,581 only on 10-09 (almost no traffic in the first 3 weeks);
- On 10-08 it shipped 1.0.1, and from 10-12 to 10-15 it added +0.9–14.5k per day for four days, with the cumulative total jumping from 6,595 to 53,067;
- From 10-16 to 10-29 it fell back to a few hundred to around two thousand per day, and 10-28/29 was mostly 0;

- Two "sudden on, sudden off" steps that don't look like organic growth and more like someone switching a budget on and off (unverified).
- Charts (library

Growth tactics (where users come from)
- Name-jacking: copied the breakout "VizoTV" (name clash confirmed; how much traffic it brings is unverified).
- The original VizoTV by Nonari Tec launched 7-30; AppstoreSpy estimates it went from 9-11 to 9-20, rising from 32k to 108k, then 9-25 to 240k. GiaThinh launched 9-15 using the same name "VizoTV," changing only the suffix to "IPTV Live Channels." The description phrasing and package names differ, so these are not the same developer (their developer websites and emails are different).
- Anyone searching "VizoTV" in the store will see both. Web search for "\"VizoTV\" IPTV Live Channels" puts its Play page first, followed by the two VizoTVs on AppBrain, CNET Download, Appfigures, and APKPure (Jina search).
- There's also an IPTV reseller site called VizoTV (https://vizotv.shop/) that sells subscriptions to 150k channels and tells buyers "download a compatible app and enter your VizoTV code." People who buy from this reseller and search "VizoTV" in the store will also land on these two apps. Whether this site and the apps are related, or which came first, is unverified.
- Targeting the broad store keyword "IPTV" (demand confirmed; specific source unverified). Titles and descriptions are stuffed with IPTV / Live Channels / Movies / Sports / Playlist. Top charts are concentrated in Italy, Spain, France, Latin America, Nigeria, and South Africa, markets with heavy demand for pirated sports. The backdrop: at the 2026/27 season start, LaLiga resumed large-scale IPTV blocking (RTVE 2026-09-06: www.rtve.es/noticias/20260906/temporada-liga-vuelve-bloqueo-…), so users frequently switch sources and players. In 2026-03, JioStar got Google Play to delist 36 legitimate IPTV apps including XCIPTV, Televizo, and IPTV Smarters (Storyboard 18 2026-03-04: www.storyboard18.com/ott-news/google-play-ios-purge-36-iptv-…). Afterward, white-label clones flooded in: of 145 IPTV apps in the library, 54 were published in the last 120 days.
- Paid acquisition (inferred, no direct evidence).
- After the 10-08 release, 10-12–10-15 saw four consecutive days of 1–14.5k per day, then it suddenly dropped back to a few hundred; from 10-30 it returned to three to six thousand per day. This on-off stepped pattern closely resembles Google App Campaigns spend.
- Neither our Google Ads Library nor our Meta Ads Library finds it by package name, app name, or developer name (nor does it find Nonari's VizoTV). These libraries only track listed products, so not being found doesn't mean it isn't advertised.
- Monetization is ads only (no IAP). Ranking rose in high-CPM markets like Italy, Spain, and France, and ad revenue likely covers acquisition costs (inferred).
- Rating management (inferred).
- Rating distribution (library
app_snaphistogram): 11-06 is [1 star 0, 2 star 0, 3 star 45, 4 star 0, 5 star 315]. There are no 1-star, 2-star, or 4-star ratings at all, only 3-star and 5-star. Normal apps don't look like this; for comparison, the original VizoTV is [1921, 349, 349, 2707, 11221]. - The rating count rises steadily by 11–24 per day, independent of install fluctuations: on 11-03 installs were +18,881 while ratings were only +11; on days with 0 installs, ratings still rose by about +20.
- The number of written reviews in our library has stayed at 0; the Play page shows 4.8 rating and 364 ratings, and the only visible review is "good" (Mbongeni Nkosi, 10-27).
- Ratings grow at a steady pace, consisting only of 3-star and 5-star with almost no text. This looks like in-app prompts combined with filtering (or some other method), with the goal of holding the store page score at 4.75–4.8 to boost conversion.
- Rating distribution (library
- Account matrix (pattern confirmed; who is behind it unverified). Many Vietnamese tool / short-drama app factories publish apps under corporate developer accounts with names like "XX Construction Co." or "XX Trading Co." The library shows several published in 2026: NAM SON CONSTRUCTION ARCHITECTURE (Drama TV, 7.34M), AMICO CONSTRUCTION AND TRADING (AuraTV, 3.58M), HOA BINH PRODUCTION - CONSTRUCTION (PopReel, 3.06M), HAIPHONG CONSTRUCTION DESIGN (ReelSaga, 1.06M), VIET NHAT GROUP CONSTRUCTION (three RioReel apps), SON LONG THUAN TRADING & CONSTRUCTION (TarotVerse)… They all have empty sites or netlify / blogspot sites plus a personal Gmail (library
app). GiaThinh uses the same pattern, and also has "PDF Reader & Converter" on 10-19 (20k installs, 7 days +12.9k), with the same com.gt.* package prefix. - Creators and influencers: none. A TikHub search for "VizoTV" only returns Vizio TV sales videos; x-radar found 0 posts for "VizoTV" in the last ~60 days; no Reddit discussion either.
Why it's working
- The category itself has traffic: IPTV players are a perennial big search term on Play, and this category added 600 tens of millions of installs in 7 days (library).
- Timing: with the legitimate 2026-03 delisted and European new seasons blocking IPTV, demand to switch players is high; 54 new white-label apps are competing for this traffic.
- Name-jacking: when 9-15 launched, it used the "VizoTV" name that was breaking out in those weeks, capturing traffic from people searching that name.
- Two stepped surges of traffic (10-12–15, 10-30–11-05) look like a budget is pushing it; rankings rising in sync were in high-CPM markets such as Italy, Spain, and France.
- Ratings are only 3-star and 5-star, rising steadily by +20 per day, holding the store page at 4.8 stars.
Differentiation
No functional differentiation; the only difference is the name, and that name was copied. It rose on category demand, name-jacking, and a publishing playbook (likely paid acquisition plus rating management), not on the product. And among this batch of white-label apps it's actually growing slowly: Mee Game and Phuoc Son's accounts, which launched later, each gained more than 4 times its growth over 7 days.
How visible it is
Still barely known: no public revenue, no discussion in media or on X, nothing on TikTok or Reddit. The only places you can find it are auto-generated app directory pages like AppBrain, CNET Download, Softonic, and Appfigures.
Copycats
Nobody is tracking it; it is itself a copycat (name copied from Nonari Tec's VizoTV, template copied from this whole batch of IPTV white-label apps).
What to borrow
- "Name-jacking": when someone in the same category starts breaking out, publish another app under its brand term and ride the brand search traffic. Cost is nearly zero, but there's a risk of impersonation reports and takedown.
- An empty player plus a disclaimer can pass review, monetizing only through ads; pick markets like Italy, Spain, and France with high eCPM and heavy pirated demand, and time it to the football season.
- Publish in bulk under multiple company-entity accounts, and add budget to whichever one starts breaking out, spreading out takedown risk.
- Rating management can hold a new app's score at 4.8. However, a distribution with only 3-star and 5-star ratings is conspicuous, and Google may detect it.
Still unclear
- Whether there is paid acquisition, where it's spent, and how much (the ad libraries don't track it).
- How much search traffic the "VizoTV" name actually brings; whether vizotv.shop reseller and these two apps are related, and which came first (domain registration info not found).
- How the rating distribution was produced (in-app prompts plus filtering, or fake ratings).
- Which factory is behind GiaThinh, and whether it's related to other developers with the com.gt.* prefix (Gaming Tag, Game town, etc. game accounts): the package prefixes match, but developer websites and emails differ, so it's most likely coincidence (unverified).
- Ad revenue and retention: no data.
