9 accounts, 9 shells, launched on the same day: HoneyDrip, a "photo to video" app, is a paid-acquisition machine, not a product
What it is A Google Play AI app that turns photos into animated videos and restyles outfits in photos. It's rated 17+, gives new users 2 coins, then sells coins per use.
Why it's trending The product isn't what's growing. Money is. The operator runs synchronized paid acquisition across 9 accounts, likely pushing the borderline-explicit effects big players avoid. Italy, France and Mexico's Entertainment Top Grossing charts have low bars, so modest spend gets it charted.
CHow you could follow Don't copy this app. Take the playbook: run multiple shells under your own accounts to test creatives and pricing in parallel, and validate payments in shallow charts like Entertainment in European stores. If you build photo-to-video, make compliant emotional templates.
- Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-08-20 · 11-07 installs 90,486
Android · Total installs worldwide Data 2026-11-01 → 2026-11-07 (7 days, 7 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.
HoneyDrip is an AI photo-to-video app on Google Play with 17+ installs. It went live 11 weeks ago, has 90k installs, and this week reached #80 on Italy's Entertainment Top Grossing chart. But it has no organic traffic: during the weeks paid ads were paused, it gained only single-digit installs a day. Digging deeper, it's one of several identical products run by an anonymous operator across at least 9 developer accounts, launched and paused in sync. Below: how it runs, where the money comes from, and what's worth taking and what to avoid.
A review from Nov 1
In Nov 1 2026, a user named Neha sharma left a review on Google Play for HoneyDrip. The whole thing was one line:
xxx, only 2 free coin , result is poor
The three x's at the start aren't censorship; she wrote them. It's the only text review among the app's 90k installs (Google Play, 11-06). Total ratings: 5, with a tablet rating of 3.4 stars.
Two days later, on Nov 3, HoneyDrip's installs jumped by 22,266 in one day (Google Play installs, 11-03). In the week of Oct 26 to 31, it was adding only about 3 a day.
What it is
The store page is clean: upload a photo, pick an effect, and AI generates a short animated video. Another feature is "AI outfit change," with "try casual, formal, artistic and themed looks." It's listed under Entertainment, not Photography, with a Mature 17+ content rating. New users get 2 coins; after that, coin packs are sold per use at $2.99–$99.99. There are no ads (Google Play, 11-06).
Functionally, it's no different from PixVerse, Hailuo or CapCut templates, and it does the job worse. What sets it apart is two things the store page doesn't mention: its content boundaries, and how it's operated.
How the 90k installs came in: on, off, on, off, on
| Period | Total installs | About |
|---|---|---|
| 08-20 launch → 09-09 | 0 → 16k | 750 |
| 09-09 → 09-19 | → 35k | 1,400–2,700 |
| 09-20 → 10-16 | → 35k | 4–20 |
| 10-17 → 10-25 | → 51k | 700–4,200 |
| 10-26 → 10-31 | → 51k | 3 |
| 11-01 → 11-06 | → 90k | About 7,800 |
(AppstoreSpy estimated history + Google Play installs, as of 11-06)
This is a classic staircase: ads running, a few thousand a day; paused, near zero. During the four paused weeks it averaged 4–20 installs a day, so store search and word of mouth contribute almost nothing. The 90k installs have only 5 ratings, which fits.
The charts climbed with the third burst: on Italy's Entertainment Top Grossing chart it went from #11-04 on 100 to #11-06 on 80; it hit #88 on Italy's Entertainment Top Free, #90 on UK Entertainment Top Free, #94 on Mexico's Entertainment Top Grossing, and #106 on France's Entertainment Top Grossing (Google Play category charts, 11-06). It never charted in the overall chart. Part of the Top Grossing placement comes from the ads running; part comes from how low the bar is on Entertainment Top Grossing in these countries, where you need little revenue to reach the top 100.
We can't see which ad platform it uses from the outside. The privacy policy names AppsFlyer and Google Install Referrer, which are standard for attribution. Searching the package name in the Meta Ad Library returns 0 results; searching "honeydrip ai video" on TikTok turns up nothing related; there's no discussion on X and no press coverage. Being Google Play-only and rated 17+, the most likely spend is Google's own app ads or an ad network (inference, not verified).
It's not one app; it's a set of shells
HoneyDrip's developer account is named SupperSoul, and its "About the developer" lists an Indonesian name, Agung Setiawan, with an address in a village in Banten... (Note: source says Nanbang province/village, reproduced as given) while the support email is [email protected], a Pakistani name. The account also holds unrelated older apps like Study planner and a world general knowledge quiz, and it's been around for 2016 years. Typical of an account bought or rented.
Following the link pattern in its privacy policy (a random-letter subdomain, a separate domain registered for each app, and /api/random-letters.html) turns up a series of apps built exactly the same way:
| App | Developer account | Launched | Installs (11-06) | past 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HoneyDrip – AI Video Magic | SupperSoul (Indonesian personal name) | 08-20 | 90,486 | +39,321 |
| FilmForge: Photo to Video AI | Lavish Food | 09-20 | 73,860 | +51,536 |
| WowViz – AI Video Creator | WeDo Technologies (Indonesian personal name) | 09-02 | 67,875 | +25,380 |
| Filmlet – AI Photo to Video | Lavish Food (Pakistani personal name) | 09-02 | 53,342 | — |
| Novora – Image & Video Maker | Unnica Telemetria e soluções IOT | 08-19 | 44,360 | +4,234 |
| CineDream – AI Video Magic | Zama Zama (American personal name) | 09-03 | 35,598 | +21,892 |
| Sweetory – AI Video Generator | Frameverse | 08-20 | 35,261 | — |
| HiFrame – Photo to Video AI | GE Technology | 08-12 | 23,721 | +19,205 |
(Google Play store pages and installs, 11-06)
In-app prices are all $2.99–$99.99. Every app I checked is rated Mature 17+, and all launched between mid-August and late September. The timing is the giveaway: from late October to early November, HiFrame climbed from 475 to 24k, CineDream from 14k to 36k, and Sweetory, WowViz and Filmlet also picked up in the same days. From late September to mid-October, they all stalled together. One backend is switching all eight on and off. The account names vary: one called "Lavish Food" has two AI video apps under it, and a Brazilian IoT company account called "Unnica Telemetria" also publishes them. These are all recycled old accounts.
Combined, these 8 new shells have about 420k installs, and about 160k over the last 7 days. HoneyDrip is only one of them; the biggest gain this week actually came from FilmForge.
Why split them into so many accounts? Because what they sell is easy to get banned for.
What it actually sells (inference)
HoneyDrip's own store page has nothing explicit. But several signals point the same way: the name is HoneyDrip, the rating is set at 17+, and a previous-generation app from the same operator, PixFun - AI Photos and Videos, launched in March 2025 years ago, reached 877k installs, and has stopped growing. Its privacy page uses the same format. One of its most-upvoted one-star reviews on Google Play reads:
Do not use this app! I uploaded private photos and even after deleting them from the app, they were still linked to my account when I reinstalled. The app has nude/explicit filters, which is extremely unsafe. (A one-star review of PixFun, 2025-08-13,83 people found it helpful)
Another review, also marked helpful by 153 people, complains about the money: "Free points run out and never refill; you have to pay $2 for a few points, and without paying you can't even get one sample output." (2025-05-19) HoneyDrip's "only 2 free coin" is the same complaint, a year later.
So the business is probably this: use borderline effects that big players and reputable apps avoid (kissing, outfit swaps pushed toward the explicit) to draw people in, give only 2 coins so they see a glimpse of the result, then sell coins per use and live off impulse spending. Whether HoneyDrip itself contains adult effects hasn't been confirmed by installing it; this is inference.
Can the money add up?
No public revenue, only category Top Grossing ranks. What's visible: this operator went from PixFun in 2025 to 8 new shells by 2026, launching one after another and still adding more. If paid acquisition weren't paying back, it's hard to explain why they keep spending (inference).
Who it's competing with
| Product | Scale (Google Play worldwide installs, 11-06) | How HoneyDrip differs |
|---|---|---|
| PixVerse | 79.6M, +7k in the last 520 days | Own model, has a brand, leads the Photography category |
| Vidix(Supercool Labs) | 30.2M, +7k in the last 700 days | Same template-effect + paid-acquisition model, but one brand across 30 stores |
| Hailuo AI(MiniMax) | 27.8M | Run by a large model vendor, compliant |
| AI Mirror / Lumy / VifunAI | 24.3M / 790K / 550K | Teen or Everyone rating, a mass-market version |
| AI Kiss Video & AI Hug(LitAI) | 990k | Pushes flirtatious templates, closest audience, single company account |
| AI Clothes Changer, VinAI | 228k / 42k, both launched in the last two months | Same "outfit swap + animated photo" idea, also looks like an indie shell |
| CapCut templates, Google Photos | CapCut 2.06B | Free and compliant, no borderline content |
The legitimate path (a compliant photo-to-video app) is already crowded with PixVerse, Vidix and big players. On the borderline path, HoneyDrip's operator alone runs 9 shells, and several other groups are out there too.
If it were you
C
There's something to learn here, but not something to copy. The product itself could be built on an API in a weekend, so there's no moat. What makes it run is three things: a pool of disposable developer accounts, borderline effects, and an ad dashboard you can switch on and off. You either can't get those, or if you do, you're standing in Google's ban line. This operator already has 9 shells and an account supply chain running back to PixFun. If you enter, you're competing with it on accounts, creatives and who gets banned first.
Who it suits: small teams already buying Google Play utility-app ads, who read AppsFlyer returns and want a cheap way to test a monetization model.
Who it doesn't suit: indie devs who've never run paid ads (there's no organic traffic here, so without spend you get 0); anyone counting on store search or social word of mouth; anyone who can't handle accounts being banned at any time or a well-built app being pulled overnight.
How to do it: don't copy this app, take three plays. First, run multiple shells in parallel: same codebase, different names, icons and store pages, launched together to test creatives, markets and pricing. Scale whichever returns best, using your own legitimate accounts, not bought ones. Second, pick shallow charts: Entertainment Top Grossing in Italy, France and Mexico, where modest revenue reaches the top 100, which is useful for getting visibility and validating payment rates. Third, watch the paused periods: to judge whether any competitor has organic traffic, check how many installs it gains per day while paused. A staircase curve like HoneyDrip's means its "hype" was bought, not demanded. If you insist on photo-to-video, aim for compliant apps with proven willingness to pay: emotional templates for weddings, anniversaries, or animating old family photos, and don't give away only 2 coins.
How to acquire users: mainly Google app ads, AppsFlyer for attribution. Test in segments, then check payback before the next one. Don't promise features the app doesn't have, and don't read 17+ as permission to push the content further.
Until when: no clear deadline. The shell-stacking and low-rank tactics can work at any time. The HoneyDrip batch is different: its window is uncertain. Google Play keeps tightening takedowns of "undressing / explicit AI" apps, and DripNectar, another app from the same account, can no longer be found (whether it was removed or renamed is unverified).
What would mean I got it wrong: ① By early 2027, most of these 8 shells are still up and still growing one piece at a time. That means this playbook holds up better than expected, and the payback really does work out, so its ad strategy deserves serious study. ② A small single-brand photo-to-video app appears that doesn't rely on gray-area tactics, and it holds a spot in the top 100 of entertainment Top Grossing across several European stores using the same shallow-chart playbook. If that happens, this path can be pursued head-on, and the grade should go up.

Only the shell and the account change. PixFun - AI Photos and Videos(Tabliea) Android 2025-03 877k installs, rated 2.3, 1,367 ratings, and no longer growing Looks like the previous generation from the same operator. User reviews complain about explicit filters and too few coins. PixVerse: AI Video Generator Android 2024-09 79.6M installs, +7k in the last 520 days Has its own model and brand, and sits at the top of Photography. HoneyDrip is a reskin selling templates with no brand behind it. Hailuo AI(MiniMax) Android 2025-01 27.8M installs Run by a large AI company, compliant. HoneyDrip pushes 17+ borderline content. Vidix - AI Photo Video Generator(Supercool Labs) Android 2025-11 30.2M installs, +7k in the last 700 days Also template effects plus paid acquisition, but one brand spread across 30 stores globally. HoneyDrip only surfaces in a few stores and spreads risk across a portfolio. AI Kiss Video & AI Hug - LitAI Android 2024-09 990k installs Pushes flirty templates, and the audience is recent. It runs under a single company account, not a portfolio. CapCut templates / Google Photos photo-to-video Big-company features Ongoing CapCut: 2.06B installs Free and compliant, but no borderline content - Where users come from
- Verified paid acquisition (on and off in waves): installs rise in steps, dropping to 4–20 a day during off periods. The privacy policy names AppsFlyer and Install Referrer for attribution, and 8 sister apps ramped up at the same time, late October into early November. Our Meta, TikTok and Google ad libraries show no trace of it, so the ad platform is unconfirmed.
- Confirmed Shell-app portfolio + bought accounts: at least 9 apps sit under 9 individual developer accounts (personal names in Indonesia, Pakistan, and the US, Gmail addresses). Privacy pages all use a "random subdomain + standalone domain + /api/random.html" pattern, and in-app purchases are all $2.99–$99.99. The SupperSoul account has existed for 2016 years and still hosts unrelated older apps like Study planner.
- Inferred Borderline content + 17+ rating: the name is HoneyDrip, rated Mature 17+. The most-liked reviews on the previous generation, PixFun, mention nudity and explicit filters. There is no direct evidence from HoneyDrip itself.
- Confirmed Store search / low-barrier category charts: the titles use generic terms like AI Video and Photo to Video. During paid periods it charted in Entertainment in Italy, the UK, France, and Mexico, ranks 80–190. During pauses there was almost no organic traffic, so search contributes very little.
- Inferred Social / creators / press: TikTok (TikHub) and X (x-radar) each show 0 related posts, and there is no press coverage.
HoneyDrip – AI Video Magic (com.honeydrip.videomaker) research report
Research date: 2026-11-06. Channel: Google Play.
Bottom line
HoneyDrip is not an app that grew on its own. It's one piece of a shell-app portfolio an anonymous operator runs on Google Play, offering "AI photo-to-video / outfit swap" apps. We found at least 9 apps with the same template, registered under 9 different individual developer accounts (personal names in Indonesia, Pakistan, and the US, Gmail addresses). Their privacy policy pages share the same format, and their in-app pricing is identical. Installs were bought in segments: several thousand a day while spend was on, close to 0 when it stopped. Every app is rated Mature 17+ while the store listings stay clean. Reviews on the older sister app suggest that what actually drives payments is likely borderline or adult-leaning effects. The model is to give away 2 coins first, then sell coin packs ($2.99–$99.99). It reached ranks 80–110 on the Entertainment Top Grossing charts in Italy, Mexico, and France for two reasons: those storefronts have low thresholds for Entertainment grossing charts, and spend happened to be on at the time.

Install curve: several clear on/off segments
Cumulative installs estimated by AppstoreSpy (googleplay library app_day_ext), stacked with our own daily observations from November onward:
| Period | Total installs | Average per day |
|---|---|---|
| 08-20 launch → 09-09 | 0 → 15,954 | About 750 |
| 09-09 → 09-19 | 15,954 → 34,905 | 1,400–2,700 (first paid segment) |
| 09-20 → 10-16 | 34,905 → 35,166 | 4–20 (paused, almost no organic traffic) |
| 10-17 → 10-25 | 35,166 → 51,104 | 700–4,200 (second segment) |
| 10-26 → 10-31 | 51,104 → 51,165 | About 3 (paused) |
| 11-01 → 11-06 | 51,165 → 90,486 | About 7,800; our daily observations were 11-03 +22,266, 11-05 +9,881, and 11-06 +7,174 (third segment, also the largest) |
During the pause weeks it got only single or low double-digit installs a day, which means it had almost no organic traffic. Store search and word of mouth are negligible. 90k+ installs leaving only 5 reviews fits the same picture.
Charts
From 11-01 it appeared on the Entertainment charts, and its rank climbed along with the third paid segment (googleplay library chart_rank):
- Italy Entertainment Top Grossing: 11-04 #100 → 11-06 #80; Italy Entertainment Top Free: 11-01 #160 → 11-06 #88
- UK Entertainment Top Free: 11-01 #190 → 11-06 #90; France Entertainment Top Free #93, France Entertainment Top Grossing #106; Mexico Entertainment Top Grossing #94
- Never charted on an overall chart (

(Sources: googleplay library app / app_profile / app_snap. Developer names and addresses come from each app's Play listing. Apart from PixFun at $1.99–$69.99, in-app purchases are all $2.99–$99.99. WowViz, CineDream, Filmlet, and HoneyDrip, which we checked, are all Mature 17+ like HoneyDrip. PixFun is Teen.)
Three things line up across these apps:
- Synchronized spend. From late October to early November, HiFrame (10-25 475 → 11-06 23,721), CineDream (10-29 13,706 → 11-06 35,598), Sweetory (10-27 24,198 → 11-06 35,261), WowViz (10-29 42,495 → 11-04 64,980), Filmlet (10-30 39,449 → 11-06 53,342), and HoneyDrip all ramped at the same time. These apps also had synchronized plateaus from late September to mid October.
- How they get accounts. The developer accounts use unrelated old names (Lavish Food, Unnica Telemetria IoT, Zama Zama). That's a classic sign of bought or rented accounts. The same Lavish Food account holds both Filmlet and FilmForge.
- Spreading risk across a matrix. Gray-area AI content gets pulled from Google Play and accounts get banned easily, and losing one account only costs one app. DripNectar, which Softonic lists under the same account, is no longer in our database (unverified whether it was removed or renamed).
Matrix total: not counting PixFun, the 8 new apps add up to about 420K installs, and about 160K over the last 7 days (the few with missing data aren't counted). HoneyDrip is just the biggest one right now, and the lead rotates: this week the biggest gainer was FilmForge (+51.5K).
2. Legit, same-niche "photo-to-video / effect template" apps
| App | Source | Launched | Scale (googleplay library, 11-06) | How it differs from HoneyDrip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PixVerse: AI Video Generator | Android / iOS / web | 2024-09 | 79.6M installs, +7k in the last 520 days | Has its own model and brand, and is a leader in the Photography category. HoneyDrip repackages templates and has no brand. |
| Hailuo AI(MiniMax) | Android / iOS / web | 2025-01 | 27.8M, +530k | Run in-house by a large model company. HoneyDrip is probably calling APIs from models like these (unverified). |
| Vidix - AI Photo Video Generator(Supercool Labs) | Android | 2025-11 | 30.2M, +700k | Also template effects, but driven by large-scale paid acquisition and charting across stores (30 countries). HoneyDrip only shows up in 6 stores. |
| VifunAI / Lumy / AI Mirror | Android | 2023–2026 | 550k / 790k / 24.3M | Set to Teen / Everyone for a mainstream audience. HoneyDrip is rated 17+ and leans gray-area. |
| AI Kiss Video & AI Hug - LitAI | Android | 2024-09 | 990k | Focused on "kiss / hug" style flirty templates, so its audience is close to HoneyDrip's. |
| Viggle AI | Android / web | 2024-08 | 10.8M | Motion transfer plus community. Different mechanics. |
| CapCut templates / Google Photos photo-to-video | Big-company features | Ongoing | CapCut: 2.06B installs | Free and compliant, but no borderline content |
There's also a batch of smaller players doing the same "clothes swap + photos come alive" thing that also look like shell accounts: AI Clothes Changer - Try On (SBS Tech, 08-31 listed, 228K, +61K) and VinAI: Photo to Video Maker (Healthy Apps., 10-14 listed, 42K, +40K). This shows several groups are already running this playbook.
3. Growth tactics
| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Paid acquisition (turned on and off in stretches) | The install curve is a stepped "on → off → on" pattern, with single-digit daily installs while paused. The privacy policy names AppsFlyer and Install Referrer (both attribution tools for paid campaigns). It scaled up at the same time as 8 sister apps. It isn't in our Meta, TikTok (Europe), or Google ad libraries. Searching its package name on the Meta Ad Library website returns 0 results. We couldn't identify which platform it used. It's on Play and rated 17+, so the most likely options are Google App Campaigns or an ad network (unverified). | Paid acquisition: confirmed (inferred from the curve). Specific platform: unconfirmed. |
| Shell app matrix + bought accounts | 9 apps, 9 individual developer accounts, identical privacy page templates, identical pricing. | Confirmed |
| Gray-area content + 17+ rating | Named HoneyDrip, rated Mature 17+. A top-rated review on the previous generation, PixFun (2025-08-13,83 people found it helpful), says "this app has nudity / explicit filters." HoneyDrip's own store page is clean. | Partly confirmed (no direct evidence on HoneyDrip itself) |
| Store search (ASO) | The title uses generic terms like "AI Video" and "Photo to Video." Single-digit daily installs during pauses show search brings in very little. | Confirmed (small effect) |
| Social / creators / media | A TikTok search for "honeydrip ai video" returned nothing related to this app. X (x-radar, last 60 days) had 0 posts. The only press coverage is auto-generated pages from download sites like Softonic, APKPure, and AppBrain. | Confirmed none |
| Prompted reviews | 90K installs with only 5 reviews. Not fake-reviewed. | Confirmed none |
IV. Why it took off
- Paid acquisition. Three stretches of the 90K installs were bought through ads (09-09–09-19, 10-17–10-25, 11-01–11-06). During the weeks they paused, they got only 4–20 installs a day (estimated by AppstoreSpy, googleplay library).
- A matrix of disposable accounts. The same operator runs the same product on at least 9 individual developer accounts at once (same privacy page format, same in-app purchase prices of $2.99–$99.99, scaling up together). Losing any one account doesn't hurt much.
- Gray content lifts willingness to pay. Mature 17+ plus the name HoneyDrip, along with users calling out explicit filters in the previous generation PixFun, suggests it sells what big companies and mainstream apps won't. It gives away 2 coins and charges per use after that, which suits impulse spending.
- Targets low-barrier stores and categories. It enters entertainment category charts in Italy, Mexico, France, and the UK, and stays out of Photography, which is crowded with big companies. Reaching #80–#110 on entertainment top-grossing charts takes little revenue, so it can appear on those charts with very small volume.
5. Differentiation
The product itself has almost no differentiation: photo-to-video, outfit swap, and template effects are already offered by PixVerse, Hailuo, Vidix, and CapCut, and those are stronger. What sets it apart is two things:
- Content range: rated 17+, likely with gray-area effects;
- Operations: the matrix, bought accounts, and paid acquisition in stretches.
These two things explain why it worked, but neither is a moat. Anyone can build outfit and gray-area templates on an API, and every account in the matrix could be removed by Google at any time.
VI. How visible it is
- Almost nobody knows about it yet: no TrustMRR listing, no founder posting revenue, no press coverage. X (x-radar, last 60 days) and TikTok show no discussion.
- The operator is completely anonymous: the domain parks on a /lander placeholder page, and the developer details come from bought personal accounts.
- But the playbook is already crowded: the same operator has 9 apps, and outside it there are smaller players like AI Clothes Changer, VinAI, and LitAI.
7. What others can learn
- Use the daily installs during a paused-ads period to judge organic traffic. If the curve is stair-stepped and the app drops to near 0 a day when ads are paused, it's pure paid acquisition, and you can downweight it accordingly when recalling.
- The matrix approach itself. One codebase, several shells, several accounts, all launched together. Scale whichever performs best. What's worth borrowing is testing creatives and markets with several shells of the same product. The bought accounts and gray content aren't recommended, since the ban and compliance risk is high.
- Pick low-barrier category charts. Entertainment categories in small European stores can reach top-grossing charts with little revenue, which makes them cheap for store visibility and testing.
8. What's still uncertain
- Ad platforms and spend: none of our ad libraries track it. Searching its package name on the Meta Ad Library website returns 0 results. Searching its domain on the Google Ads Transparency Center returns 0 results (install ads land on Play, which domain search doesn't cover).
- Whether the app actually has adult / undressing effects: no install-based testing was done. This can only be inferred from the 17+ rating, the name, and reviews of sister apps.
- Revenue: only category top-grossing ranks, no figures. Whether pay-per-use coin sales cover paid acquisition is unknown, but it can keep running campaigns in stretches, which suggests the math probably works.
- Who runs it: the privacy policy wording ("Facial Mapping", "affiliated companies") and the tech stack look like templates commonly used by Chinese teams going global (unverified).
- DripNectar's fate: whether it was removed or renamed is unverified.
