> Several renamed older Facebook pages rotate ad campaigns to acquire users, then high-priced in-app purchases in companion-chat style recover the cost. The UK Social chart has a low bar, so a few people paying high prices is enough to push it up the rankings.

# Under 20k installs, squeezed into the UK social top-grossing top 100: Ignify sells not dating but "companionship chat"

**What it is** A dating app for men in the US, UK, Australia and Canada where the "women" approach you first, and replying to messages or viewing photos costs money, $9.99 to $139.99 per item.

**Why it took off** Several renamed old Facebook pages rotate ad spend to buy people in, then high-priced in-app purchases for companionship chat recoup the cost; the UK social top-grossing chart has a low bar, so a few people paying high prices can push it up.

**D** **How you could follow it** Don't copy this model. What's worth learning is using small-country grossing charts to validate high-ticket payments, and the gap users reveal: be upfront that it's an AI companion product, but target a much narrower audience or language.

Grade D: growth depends on paid acquisition, reputation depends on fake reviews, the product depends on fake profiles to get payments. It violates Play and FTC rules and could be banned at any time. 40+ reskins of the same template are already running, so there's no differentiated angle to follow. Almost nobody knows about it yet

Ignify is a dating app that only hit Google Play in mid-July, listed only in English-speaking countries: the UK, US, Australia, and Canada. Cumulative installs are under 18k, yet it has steadily held the #68 to #86 spots on the UK social top-grossing chart. It isn't the product that does this: several renamed old Facebook pages rotate ad spend to bring in adult men, and once inside, "women" approach them first and send suggestive photos. Replying to messages or viewing pictures costs money, with the cheapest item at $9.99. The same template has at least 2026 reskinned apps running over 40 years. Below: how it makes money, why I don't recommend copying it, and what's worth learning from it.

### "If you don't rent their pictures, they won't talk to you"

On Oct 4, a UK user gave Ignify one star: "All bots all the time. If you don't rent their pictures, they won't talk to you anymore. Dialogue is poor and memory is worse. Don't bother and just get an AI girlfriend."

Three days ago, another UK user was blunter: "every single so called woman will immediately start sending you nude pics and videos and then ghost you if u refuse to spend money on them."

Of the 12 text reviews visible on Google Play in the US and UK, 11 are one-star, and the keywords repeat: bots, fake, scam. Someone wrote "unsubscribe me I didn't sign up for it." The only four-star review (11-04) describes the model most clearly: "enjoy the unlimited messages… my issue is the pay wall required to view some things"—messaging is free, but some things require payment.

This is a mature business overseas, known in the trade as "paid companionship dating": the "women" on the platform are operated by the company's staff or AI, and the goal isn't matchmaking but getting you to pay for chats and photos. The store description says "Meet Real People and Make Genuine Connections" while also saying "some communication features may require a subscription" and "we don't guarantee you'll receive messages or find matches"—an escape hatch for app review and refunds.

### How fast it grew

| Date | Play cumulative installs | Score | Average |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 13,802 | 14 | 1.73 |
| 11-01 | 15,306 | 16 | 1.73 |
| 11-03 | 17,226 | 17 | 1.73 |
| 11-04 | 17,226 | 18 | 1.67 |
| 11-05 | 17,505 | 29 | 2.44 |
| 11-06 | 17,791 | 48 | 3.39 |

Source: Google Play installs and ratings, 10-29 through 11-06.

Third-party estimates show it had only about 12 cumulative installs by October 3,600, growing to 17.8k within a month. The curve comes in waves: on October 13 it did about 1,800 in a single day, then around 1,200 a day on October 19 and 20, dropping back to a couple hundred in between (estimated). That shape usually means ads are bought in batches.

Slowing down: 11-05 and 11-06 are each adding only about 280 a day. On the social free chart it has slid from #50 in Australia, #64 in the UK and #64 in Canada down to #104, #119 and #111. But the grossing charts barely moved: UK social grossing #68~86, US #149~178 (Google Play charts, 10-29 to 11-06).

One number to watch: over two days, 11-04 to 11-06, the rating count went from 18 to 48, five-star ratings from 3 to 23, yet written reviews only rose by 2. Meanwhile, daily installs were under 300 and the two days brought in 30 ratings that were almost all five-star with no text, which doesn't match the earlier 1.7-star reputation. Most likely rating farming or in-app prompts for five-star reviews (inference).

### Where users come from

**Meta ads, run through renamed old Pages.** Facebook has at least 3 Pages called Ignify: "Ignify Dating Community", "Ignify - Meet, Chat & Date" and "Ignify - Spark New Connections". The three Page IDs are adjacent, all old accounts created around 2023 years ago, categorized as "Model", and all changed their profile picture on the same day in Jul 23 (one week after launch). One of them has only 25 followers but 814 people "talking about" it: low followers, high engagement, the typical look of a Page used for ads. The video creative is a single line: "Download Ignify / Stop scrolling. Start meeting."

Running ads through old Pages renamed to something new is a common way to get around restrictions on new Pages for dating ads and to spread out ban risk. Under "Related Pages" on these Pages, the ones that show up together are ad Pages for similar apps: Rocco, Pinga, SparkOn, with copy like "Dating in your town🔥" and "Singles nearby". A whole cluster of apps is competing for the same men in the same ad pool. How many ads ran and how much was spent can't be read from the Meta Ad Library; unverified.

**No organic spread.** Ignify doesn't show up on TikTok, X, Reddit or in the media. Its free-chart rank rises and falls with the ad spend, and drops once it stops.

### Where the money comes from

In-app purchases only, no ads, individual items priced $9.99 to $139.99. Comparable apps usually start at $1.99~4.99, so Ignify's entry price is noticeably higher. That's why installs are low, but each paying user pays more.

The bar to chart on the UK social grossing list is low: with under 20k installs, a small number of high-paying users can get it into the top 100. A third-party model estimates Google Play revenue of $15k~70k in October (AppGazers, 80% range). That's an estimate, not a public figure.

The whole playbook: Meta targets adult men in the US, UK, Australia and Canada → they get hit on by "women" right after signing up → they pay from $9.99 to unlock messages and photos → bad reviews and refunds get absorbed as a cost → when the rating hurts ad conversion, they buy a batch of five-star reviews.

The developer lists a personal name on the store page, with a Gmail contact address. The last update was Sep 29, version 1.0.6. The same name also has another developer account on Play, publishing a batch of template utility apps with a Malaysia address. Opening several accounts under personal names to spread out ban risk is common among apps like this (inference, unverified).

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | Scale (Play, 11-06) | Compared with Ignify |
|---|---|---|
| Rocco / Waffle (same developer) | 35k / 15k installs, +28k / +15k over 7 days, US dating free #3 / #5 | Same model, heavier ad buying, going after the free chart |
| NightSpark | 63k installs, +22k over 7 days, UK social free #9 | About 3.5x the volume |
| Kizme | 53k installs, UK social grossing #43,2,824, rating 4.66 stars | Launched almost at the same time, with a better-looking rating |
| Muah | 86k installs, Canada social grossing #19, top in-app purchase $499.99 | Higher price per user, with a real registered company |
| Pullup | 149k installs, US dating grossing #22 | One of the longest-running and biggest in the category |
| Alora, SparkOn, Seylo, Bonbo, Emma, Nayvi, etc. | 5k~130k installs each | Reskins with nearly identical names, prices and launch countries |

The common traits are easy to spot: names in the "X – Meet, Chat & Date" format, developers who are mostly personal Gmail accounts or shell companies, launches in only 1~5 English-speaking countries, in-app purchase caps of $99~199, and ratings that are gamed. It's normal for the same developer to launch two or three new disguises in a month. When the old one gets reported or banned, they change the name and come back.

The contrast users draw is with two other categories: real-person matching apps like Tinder, Bumble and Hinge, and AI companion apps like Replika that openly say they're AI. The one-star review that says "just get an AI girlfriend" is talking about the latter.

### How many people know about it

Almost nobody knows about Ignify itself: revenue isn't public, there's no discussion on media, X or TikTok, and it only shows up on a few auto-generated third-party data pages. But the business it sits in is already crowded. At least 40 similar apps have launched in the last 2026 years, and new ones keep appearing every week or so.

### If it were you

**Verdict: don't follow.** Ignify has nothing that followers can't get, and nothing worth copying: its "product" is fake profiles and a paywall, its growth is bought ads, its reputation is manufactured, and the same template is already run by more than 40 others. The problem isn't that it's gray. Pretending to be real people to take payments is something Google Play's Deceptive Behavior policy and the US FTC have gone after, including in the Match case. Accounts get banned and payouts get frozen. The fact that these apps keep changing names shows they treat bans as a cost they expect to pay.

**Who it's for:** teams already running Meta ads that want to see how fast the "small-country grossing chart + high-ticket in-app purchase" route can work, using it as a negative case to take apart.

**Who it's not for:** indie developers trying to build a product that lasts; anyone without Meta ad experience who can't absorb bans and refunds.

**How to do it:** Two things are worth learning. First, **the bar is low on small-country category charts** : in the UK social category, the chart threshold sits at roughly 100,1~20k installs, and a few people paying a premium is enough to chart. A real, niche paid social product (say, a hobby circle or a community for one type of person) can use that window to quickly test whether anyone will pay. Second, **the gap users are voicing** : "just get an AI girlfriend." What users want is someone to talk to; what they resent is being scammed. A companion product that is upfront about being AI and charges per chat is a legitimate path, but that lane is already crowded, so you'd need to narrow hard by audience, language, or scenario to have a shot.

**How to acquire users:** if you're building a legitimate niche social app, copy the structure above for Meta: spread spend across several Pages, make the short video say in one line "here's who you can meet", start with 1~2 English-speaking countries, and watch your category grossing rank to confirm people pay.

**When is "before" the right time?** For Ignify's model there is no "before": the window isn't closed, the model just shouldn't be there at all. For the method of "testing payment on small-country grossing charts", it can be used any time.

**What would show I got it wrong:** ① if Ignify is still around in six months without changing its name, and its rating stays above 3.5 without being gamed, then there may be real users behind it and the model is healthier than it looks; ② conversely, if by December it has dropped out of the UK social grossing top 100 or disappeared from the store, that confirms it's a disguise that runs ads for a while, gets banned, and gets replaced, and the call was right.

## Ignify - Chat & Date Easily (com.ignify.chat) research report

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: MobileAppsCorner (the Play "About the developer" section lists a personal name, LAW JIAN HAW, and contact email mobileappscorner9@gmail.com) | Store launch 2026-07-14 | Research date 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

Ignify didn't succeed on the strength of its product. It is one of a large group of **"chat-bot / fake-profile" paid dating apps** on English-language Google Play from the past 2026 years. It uses Facebook/Instagram ads (old Pages renamed and run) to acquire adult men in the UK, US, Australia and Canada, then recovers costs through high-ticket in-app purchases ($9.99–$139.99) for "female profiles that message first + paid unlocks for messages / photos". The growth signals (+29% installs over 7 days, UK social grossing #80) are the result of ad buying. Real user reviews are almost all "bot / fake profiles / scam". On 11-05 and 11-06 the rating count suddenly rose by 20 five-star reviews, likely rating farming. There's essentially no differentiation: the same app library contains more than 40 near-identical apps.

### 1. Data (googleplay library, 2026-10-29 to 11-06)

| Date | Cumulative global installs | New today | Score | Average | Star distribution [1★..5★] |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 13,802 | – | 14 | 1.73 | [11,0,0,0,2] |
| 11-01 | 15,306 | +1,504 (3 days total) | 16 | 1.73 | [13,0,0,0,2] |
| 11-03 | 17,226 | +1,920 (2 days total) | 17 | 1.73 | [13,0,0,0,3] |
| 11-04 | 17,226 | 0 | 18 | 1.67 | [15,0,0,0,3] |
| 11-05 | 17,505 | +279 | 29 | 2.44 | [18,0,0,1,9] |
| 11-06 | 17,791 | +286 | 48 | 3.39 | [15,3,0,6,23] |

- Growth curve since launch (app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimate): starting at 10-06, about 260 a day; 10-12 cumulative 3,597; 10-13 single-day about 1,842, 10-19/20 two spikes of about 1,175 a day; 10-26 about 13,153. Over one month it grew from 3.6K to 17.8K, ranging from 300–1,800 a day, in bursts that look like ad spend in batches.

- Growth is slowing: 11-05 and 11-06 are each adding only about 280 a day. The free charts keep sliding: Australia social free 50→104, UK 64→119, Canada 64→111,11-06 off the chart (chart_rank).

- The grossing charts have held steady: UK social grossing #68–86, US #149–178 (chart_rank 10-29 to 11-06). With under 20k installs it holds the top 100 of UK social grossing, meaning there are plenty of payers and high average spend.

- Monetization: one in-app purchase line, $9.99–$139.99, with no ads (app_snap.ad_supported = False). The version is stuck at 1.0.6, last updated 2026-09-29, with timestamps in the +08 time zone (app_snap.updated_at), so the team is most likely in Southeast Asia or China.

- Third-party estimate: AppGazers puts Google Play in-app revenue at $14.9K–$71.5K and downloads at 4.5K–22.1K for 2026–October (80% range, model estimate). [appgazers.com/reports/apps/android-com.ignify.chat](https://appgazers.com/reports/apps/android-com.ignify.chat)

- **Rating anomaly** : from 11-04 to 11-06, the rating count went from 18 to 48 and five-star ratings from 3 to 23, while written reviews only went from 7 to 9. Daily new installs over the same stretch were only about 280, so 30 ratings in two days, almost all five-star and none with text, doesn't match the 1.7-star reputation. Highly likely fake or incentivized ratings. The Play page now shows 3.5 stars / 51 ratings (2026-11-06 scrape).

### 2. What it actually is (in users' words)

The store description says it's about "meeting real people," but google-play-scraper pulled 12 written reviews from 2026-09-26 to 11-04 (gb/us storefronts the same), and 11 of them are one-star:

- "All bots all the time. If you don't rent their pictures, they won't talk to you anymore… just get an AI girlfriend."(10-04)

- "it's just another Ai chat bot app where they get you to buy a premium"(10-02)

- "every single so called woman will immediately start sending you nude pics and videos and then ghost you if u refuse to spend money on them"(10-01)

- "fake app uses pictures from of models to post as people on the app"(10-14)

- "unsubscribe me I didn't sign up for it"(10-23)

- The only four-star review: "enjoy the unlimited messages… my issue is the pay wall required to view some things" (11-04)

This is the classic "chat-operator / persona dating" model: the "female users" are operator- or AI-run profiles that message first with suggestive photos, and to reply or view the pictures ("rent their pictures") you have to buy a membership or coins. The store listing says "Some communication features may require a subscription" and "Ignify does not guarantee that users will receive messages, find a match…", which is disclaimer language to cover app review and refunds. The data safety section says "no data collected," which isn't credible for a dating app.

### 3. Where users come from: Meta ads + renamed old Facebook Pages (solid evidence)

At least 3 Ignify Facebook Pages exist, with page IDs close together, all with avatar changes in 2026-07-23 (right after launch week):

- "Ignify Dating Community" (61551586563275), posting video ad creatives "Download Ignify / Stop scrolling. Start meeting."

- "Ignify - Meet, Chat & Date" (61551601745016): 25 follows, "814 talking about this". Few follows, lots of engagement, the typical look of a page that runs ads.

- "Ignify - Spark New Connections" (61551631439730): page category is "Model," 1 follows, 46 talking about this, "Stop scrolling. Start meeting." video posted 14–17 hours ago (search snapshot)

- These IDs fall in the 6155xxxx range (accounts created around 2023 years ago), category "Model," later renamed Ignify. Looks like aged pages bought or held for a long time and renamed for ads, a common way to get around the restrictions on new pages running dating ads.

- Under "related Pages" for these pages, the same cluster shows up: "Rocco 02" ("Dating in your town🔥 / Come feel the tension," 1.7K views), "Pinga - Dating only on Reels," "SparkOn - Anticipate" ("Download & feel it🔥"), and "Ruby and 2" ("Singles nearby"). These are all the same kind of app as the competitors in the table below, so this group of apps is fighting over the same audience in the same ad ecosystem.

- Our metaads library doesn't track Ignify or these competitors' advertisers (it only covers a fixed list of products), and the Meta Ad Library web pages don't scrape cleanly, so ad spend and creative counts are **unverified** .

- TikTok (TikHub search "ignify app"), X (x-radar, last 60 days), Reddit, and media: no Ignify mentions found. No organic spread.

- The install curve comes in pulses (10-13 around 1,842,10-19/20, about 1,175 per day), and free-chart rank rises and falls with ad flights, consistent with paid acquisition rather than word of mouth.

How the money comes back: Meta targeting adult men in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada → they get into the app and "women" message them first → users pay $9.99+ for memberships / coins to reply and see photos, with the top single item at $139.99. A handful of high-paying users carry its UK social grossing rank; negative reviews and refunds are absorbed as cost; a bad rating (1.7 stars) drags down ad conversion, so five-star ratings get padded in.

### 4. Competitors: a whole group of apps running the same playbook (googleplay library, 2026 years live, charted in social/dating categories in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada)

| App | Developer (email) | Launched | Total installs | 7 new in the last day | Best rank | In-app price range |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rocco | Silver State(gmail) | 2026-10-13 | 35,131 | 28,461 | US Dating free #3 | $3.99–99.99 |
| Waffle | Silver State | 2026-10-20 | 14,889 | 14,884 | US Dating free #5 | $3.99–189.99 |
| NightSpark-Local Dating & Chat | StandardStream LLC(gmail) | 2026-09-03 | 63,157 | 21,938 | UK Social free #9 | $4.99–99.99 |
| Muah: Flirt, Chat & Connect | WISERING PTE. LTD. | 2026-05-18 | 86,149 | 8,002 | Canada Social Grossing #19 | $0.99–499.99 |
| Pullup: Meet Real Singles | Arrow BC Ltd(gmail) | 2026-03-12 | 149,164 | 4,295 | US Dating Grossing #22 | $4.99–99.99 |
| Kizme – Meet, Chat & Date | BlueAtlas Tech LLC(gmail) | 2026-07-06 | 53,252 | 5,140 | UK Social Grossing #43 | $4.99–99.99 |
| Alora - Meet & Dating | UG-BODA(gmail) | 2026-05-21 | 130,686 | 6,740 | Canada Social free #58 | $4.99–139.99 |
| SparkOn: Swipe On Real Sparks | Luminaris Technology(gmail) | 2026-01-23 | 124,837 | 3,577 | Australia Social free #88 | $3.99–69.99 |
| Seylo / Bonbo / Emma / Nayvi / Dash / Slip / AroundU / AfterDark / Sweety / Xmet / Dote … | Mostly gmail personal accounts or shell LLCs | 2026 | 0.5–110k | | Social/dating charts in US, UK, Australia, Canada | Typically $2.99–199.99 |

Also, legitimate dating apps (Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, POF) and AI girlfriend apps (Replika, Character-style apps) serve as the comparison users bring up; the review "just get an AI girlfriend" is pointing at exactly this.

Common traits: all named in the "X – Meet, Chat & Date" format, developers mostly use gmail or shell companies, live in only 1–5 English-speaking countries, cap in-app purchases at $99–$199, and fake their ratings (Kizme 2,824 ratings at 4.66 stars, Pullup 4,739 ratings at 4.46 stars). Ignify's installs are on the low side of this group, its rating is the worst, but its UK grossing rank is decent.

### 5. Differentiation

Almost none. Compared with peers, the only difference visible in the data is a **high in-app entry price** ($9.99+, versus $1.99–4.99 for most peers), which explains the low installs but a respectable UK grossing rank. Features, creatives, and page tactics match the peers. It works through arbitrage between "Meta ads + paid chat", not differentiation, and every peer is running the same arbitrage.

### 6. Visibility and copycats

- Revenue isn't public. TrustMRR, X, and media haven't reported it. Only automated aggregators like AppGazers, Apptopia, and best.dating have pages.

- The category itself is already crowded: at least 40 similar apps launched in the library over 2026 years, and the same developers keep shipping new shell apps one after another (Silver State October launched Rocco, Waffle, and Luka; kautsar.app October launched Meetly and Meetvibe; Circuita launched SingleLink and Lovent). Nobody is copying anyone in particular; it's one template being reskinned in batches.

### 7. Developer

The legal developer name on the Play page is LAW JIAN HAW. Searching online for the same name turns up another developer account, "SmartApp Technology Group" (different contact email, wj8178499@gmail.com, listed as Malaysia), a group that publishes template-style utility apps and mini-games. Opening many developer accounts under a personal name with gmail addresses looks like nominee accounts (using someone else's identity to spread out ban risk), but this is **unverified** . The official site ignifychat.com only has an intro page and a privacy/data-deletion policy.

### 8. What to borrow (and what not to)

- Worth borrowing: **high-priced in-app purchases plus a small-country grossing chart** . The UK social grossing chart has a low bar. With 1–20k installs and high ARPPU you can reach the top 100. A real niche paid social product can also use this window to validate willingness to pay.

- Worth borrowing: a split Meta setup of "renamed old Pages, rotating several Pages for ads, short-video creatives like 'Stop scrolling. Start meeting.'" This spreads out the risk of any single Page getting banned.

- Not worth borrowing: fake profiles and chat-based payment traps, plus fake ratings. These break Google Play's deceptive-behavior and ratings policies, and they're the kind of thing the FTC went after in the Match case. Accounts can be banned at any time and funds can be frozen. This batch keeps changing names, which suggests they treat getting banned as a cost of doing business.

### 9. Still unclear

- Actual ad spend, number of creatives, and CPI (not in the metaads library, not readable from Meta Ad Library).

- Whether the backend uses real human support, AI, or a mix; exactly how "rent their pictures" gets paid for.

- Whether this app and a specific peer developer (such as Silver State or Rocco) are run by the same operator. The only evidence is that they show up together in Facebook related Pages; there's no direct proof.

- Revenue is only AppGazers' model estimate.
