# 350k installs in a month, zero reviews: "Video Downloader & Home" makes money off your phone's home screen

**What it is** A video downloader with a built-in browser and player. After install it prompts you to set it as your phone's default home screen, and it earns only from ads.

**Why it took off** The studio behind it runs paid acquisition in cheap regions like Nigeria, India, and Southeast Asia, switching budgets on and off daily. By taking over the home screen it gets far more ad impressions than a normal tool, and that's what lets the bought traffic pay back.

**D** **How you could follow it** Not recommended to copy directly. What's worth learning is the idea of getting users through a must-have utility tool and monetizing through a high-frequency entry point, plus the playbook of testing weekly templates and deciding whether to scale paid acquisition or stop based on payback. For high-frequency entry points, look at compliant placements like lock screen and home screen widgets.

D grade: it's a copycat itself. March already had the source, and from 8 to October more than a dozen packages on the same template were competing for cheap traffic. Monetization by hijacking the home screen and popping ads gets users calling it malware, similar apps have already been removed, and the window is closing. Almost no one knows about it yet

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-10-01 · 11-07 installs 349,239

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

All Video Downloader & Home launched on Google Play in Oct 1 and reached 349k installs in a month, adding about 200k in the last 7 days. It at one point ranked in the "Video Players" category chart across 20 countries, yet has no rating and no reviews. It wasn't driven by the product: behind it is a small studio in Surat, India that specializes in app promotion and paid acquisition, which put a ready-made template on a second developer account. The downloader is the reason to install; "Home" is where the money is: after install it guides you to set it as the default home screen, so from then on every press of the Home button can be an ad. More than a dozen packages on the same template are running this year. Below, we break down how the numbers work, who's behind it, and why we don't recommend following it.

### "It took over my whole screen"

Look at the older sibling of this template first. Ignia LLC's Gallery - Photo, Video & Home launched in March, same playbook of a utility plus taking over the default home screen, and it's now at 1.21M installs. On Oct 24, one user left a one-star review: "this app hacks your whole screen and puts ads everywhere to the point that every click turns into an ad. i had to open the play store from google chrome to uninstall".

A month ago another user wrote: "took over Samsung UI and started running it's own UI". Someone else said their grandfather's phone was "completely taken over", with an ad shown before any app opened. Among the recent reviews with text for 9 and October's package, one-star reviews make up most of them, with keywords like takes over, ads everywhere, and can't uninstall (Google Play recent reviews, 9-03 to 10-28).

The downloader this article covers runs on the same setup. Its store description lists seven features, most of them normal for a downloader: built-in browser, detecting videos on web pages, offline downloads, a player, and light/dark themes. Sandwiched in the middle, the sixth item is an inconspicuous "Optional proxy selection and home-screen tools". The store page is marked "contains ads" with no in-app purchases, and the data safety section says it collects location and app activity data and shares it with third parties (Google Play listing, 11-06).

### How fast it grew, and why in bursts

| Date | Cumulative Play global installs | New installs in these days |
|---|---|---|
| 10-17 | 877 | — |
| 10-21 | About 26k | +24k in a single day |
| 10-25 | 145,410 | +72k in a single day |
| 10-29 | 149,340 | 10-26 to 29: +3,930 over four days |
| 10-31 | 192,837 | +43,497 |
| 11-03 | 298,456 | +105,619 |
| 11-06 | 349,239 | 11-05 and 06: about +50k over two days |

Source: Google Play install counts; figures before 10-29 are third-party AppstoreSpy estimates.

It jumped by 70K in one day, then nearly stopped for four days, then climbed 100K in one push. Organic traffic and store search don't look like this. This shape points to paid acquisition with daily budget on/off, and I'm fairly confident in that read. The charts move with it: the top free Video Players chart spot is Nigeria #18 (11-01, 11-04), Indonesia #32, Thailand #48, India #50, and Germany, France, UK, Japan and Korea sit between #95 and #180. 11-06 has mostly fallen back, Nigeria dropped to #54 and Indonesia to #94, which looks like they're pulling back this round. Neighborhood category charts have a low bar: a few thousand installs a day can get you into the top 100.

Zero ratings also tells you these users didn't find it on their own. It isn't findable on TikTok, X or Reddit, and the only video I could find is a feature demo short made for Google's review team.

### Who's behind it: a promotion studio's account network

The developer on the store is Mishu Dev, the registered contact is an Indian name, and the address says the UK. The developer website leads to samptechnologies.site, which describes itself as an "independent digital product studio" and lists App promotion and ASO as its services: store page strategy, ad creatives, paid acquisition. Its Instagram places it in Surat, Gujarat.

The same website and the same support email also show up on a Play developer account called SAMP TECHNOLOGIES, which published Gallery - Photo, Video & Home in Sep 2. Its curve is identical: 10-03 +34k in one day, 10-04 +63k, 10-09 +41k, then it basically flatlined. It's at 345k installs now (AppstoreSpy estimate + Google Play install count). At the end of October they published a privacy policy for a new package called HD Video Player.

So: in September they tested with "Gallery & Home", in October they moved to a different account for "Downloader & Home" and kept spending, while preparing the next one. One template skeleton, swapping categories and accounts, each package bought for a few weeks to see if it pays back. That's standard practice for Indian tool-app studios.

### Where the money comes from (inferred)

Ads only. The math on this template works like this:

- **The downloader gets people to install.** In Nigeria, India and Southeast Asia, mobile data is expensive and saving videos to watch offline is a real need. "Video downloader" is also one of the biggest paid-acquisition categories on Play. In that category, 7 apps added over 50k in a day, 73 of them in total, which adds up to over 1,500 million installs a week (Google Play install counts, 11-06).

- **The default home screen gives the ads somewhere to show.** A downloader gets opened once or twice a day, a home screen gets seen dozens or hundreds of times. Every return to the home screen can carry an interstitial or native ad. Replacing a default launcher is more hassle than uninstalling an app, which slows churn. That's exactly what the one-star reviews above are complaining about.

- **Acquisition is cheap in these markets.** Estimated cost per install is a few cents to a bit over ten cents (unverified). As long as each user sees enough ads on the home screen to pay that back, it works. Pausing for a few days and then turning spend back on suggests they're adjusting budgets against payback.

How much they actually make per day can't be seen from outside.

### Who it's competing with

It's a copycat itself. Packages with "& Home" in the title that are really "tool + default home screen" (Google Play, 11-06):

| Package | Developer | Launched | Total installs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | Ignia LLC (the source) | 3-05 | 1.21M, 7 days +278k |
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | Thebes Ads (contact email also points to Ignia) | 8-26 | 1.07M |
| Alarm Clock – Wake Up & Home | Simple Alarm Clock | 5-05 | 540k |
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | BlazingTrail Technologies India | 8-27 | 270k |
| All Video Downloader & Home | SAAKSHI MEDTECH / Profile App Studio (same email) | 9-18, 9-22 | 83k / 65k |
| All Video Downloader & Home | This app (Mishu Dev) | 10-01 | 349k, +200k in 7 days |
| Phone Cleaner & Home | Thebes / Ignia / BlazingTrail | 10-09 to 14 | 15 to 250k |
| Video Downloader & Home | Thebes Ads | 10-19 | 23k |

Ignia had already launched "All Video Downloader And Home" back in February. This app copied the name outright. There are at least five or six downloaders with the same name, and this is the one with the most traffic right now, with a bigger budget and more countries as the only difference. It ranks in 20 stores, and most of the other same-named ones are off every chart.

Further out are the established downloaders with 3 to 400M installs (All Video Downloader & Player, InShot, Simple Design and others), off-store APK sites like Snaptube and VidMate, web download sites like SnapTik, and the built-in save features in YouTube and TikTok. Compared with them, the only thing this package does differently is "& Home".

### How long this window stays open

Probably not long. Google Play explicitly restricts video downloaders (especially those touching YouTube) and the practice of showing ads outside the app or hijacking the home screen. A same-named social video downloader was already removed in Aug 3 (AppBrain). Users' one-star reviews use words like malware, virus and hack. The day a reviewer reads those words is the day the app gets pulled. Packages like this have a lifespan measured in months. The studio knows it, which is why they keep spending while launching new packages.

### If it were you

**Verdict: don't follow.** It has nothing followers can't get, but also nothing worth following. The product is a generic downloader, and it makes money by hijacking the home screen to show ads. Someone was doing this already in March. By 8 to October there were over a dozen packages from several Indian studios fighting over the same cheap traffic, and they sit on the edge of Play policy, so removal is only a matter of time.

**Who it suits:** studios already running Google paid acquisition, with a stack of developer accounts, that already treat account bans as a cost. For them it's just another template.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie developers trying to build something that lasts and earns word of mouth, or small teams with no paid-acquisition experience that go dark if one account gets banned.

**How to do it:** what you can take is two methods, not this product. First, the logic of "a must-have utility brings users in, a high-frequency entry point monetizes": find high-frequency entry points in compliant places, such as lock-screen widgets, persistent notifications, keyboards and charging screens. These are much safer than inserting ads into the home screen, but each one already has people working on it. Second, the weekly payback template: ship one skeleton in a new category, spend for two or three weeks to see if it pays back, and stop if it doesn't.

**How to acquire users:** if you do build a utility, follow its path: run Google App Campaigns in cheap markets like Nigeria, Indonesia and India, and watch neighborhood category chart rank to see whether spend is working. Put high-search-volume terms in the title.

**When it was the time:** for the "& Home" template, that's already past. The earliest package came out in March, and what's left now is late-stage copycats.

**What would show I got it wrong:** (1) By next January or February, most of these "& Home" packages are still live and still growing, which would mean Google tolerates this kind of home screen ad and the window is longer than I think. (2) This app builds normal ratings (above 3.5 stars) and keeps growing installs on its own after spend stops, which would mean the downloader itself retains people, and then it's more than a paid-acquisition template.

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (most likely Google App Campaigns / ad networks)** : stepped install curve, +24k and +72k in single days, with pauses of a few days in between. The sibling Gallery & Home has the same curve. The studio's website openly says it does paid acquisition. I didn't find any ad creatives.

- **Verified** **Category chart exposure in cheap markets** : VIDEO_PLAYERS free category chart: Nigeria 18, Indonesia 32, Thailand 48, India 50, plus 20 more stores in the top 200 (googleplay library chart_rank)

- Inferred **Store search / ASO** : the title stuffs in the high-volume term "All Video Downloader". With no ratings, search weight is limited

- **Verified** **Account network / template reuse** : Mishu Dev and SAMP TECHNOLOGIES share the email smeet7134@gmail.com and the domain samptechnologies.site. Gallery & Home (345k) went up in September, this app in October

- Inferred **Content / social** : no TikTok, X or Reddit promotion found, just a YouTube Short demo made for Google's review

## Why All Video Downloader & Home (com.inrntvideo.downloaderhome) gets traction

> Channel: Google Play | Developer account: Mishu Dev (store contact MR DHARMESH VINODBHAI BHARODIYA, address listed in the UK) | Published: 2026-10-01 | Research date: 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

It isn't the product that's driving it. A small app-promotion / ASO / paid-acquisition studio in Surat, India (Samp Technologies) published this template package from a second developer account. The product is a "video downloader + can be set as default home screen (Home / Launcher)". Installs jump in bursts, which is what paid acquisition looks like. Monetization is ads only (the store lists it as containing ads, no in-app purchases). The "& Home" playbook was first run by Ignia LLC in 2026 to March 2, and from 8 to October a large batch of Indian developers copied it. This package is one of them.

### 1. What it is

- Store description: built-in browser + media detection and download + local player + "Optional proxy selection and home-screen tools". The last item is the "Home" part: it asks users to set it as the default home screen launcher. Source: Google Play listing page (2026-11-06 scrape).

- "Contains ads", no in-app purchases (googleplay library app_snap: ad_supported=True, offers_iap=False). Version 1.0.15 hasn't been updated since 2026-10-10.

- No ratings and no reviews (ratings empty, recent_reviews empty). The store tier is "100K+".

- Content rating says "Unrestricted Internet". The data safety page says it collects and shares location, app activity and other data.

### 2. Growth data

- Cumulative global installs 349,239, +199,899 over the last 7 days (googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06).

- Growth comes in bursts, not smoothly (googleplay library app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimates + own collection):
    - 10-17 was only 877,10-19, then 2,573;
    - 10-21 +24,005,10-24 a day to 73,085,10-25 +72,325 a day, reaching 145,410;
    - 10-26 to 10-29 nearly stopped, only +3,930 over four days;
    - 10-30~31 +43,497,11-01~03 +105,619,11-05 +22,210,11-06 +28,573.

Stop-start, stepped, shooting up to tens of thousands in a few days: this is the classic curve of day-by-day budget switches on paid acquisition (Google App Campaigns or similar channels). Organic traffic and store search would make for a smoother curve.

- Charts: VIDEO_PLAYERS' free category chart at one point had it charted in more than twenty of 30 stores. Its best spots were #18 in Nigeria (11-01, 11-04) and #32 in Indonesia, with Thailand at 48 and India at 50. Germany, France, the UK, Japan and Korea also sat between #95 and #180 (Google Play library, chart_rank). 11-06 Rankings have mostly slipped across stores (ng 54, id 94), which looks like this round of paid acquisition is winding down. The category chart bar is low: a few thousand installs a day can get you into the top 100 in a small store.

### 3. Who's behind it: a promotion studio's account network

- Developer website samptechnologies.site, support email smeet7134@gmail.com. The site describes itself as "Independent digital product studio… App Promotion & ASO: Store listing strategy, campaign creative, paid acquisition"; the Instagram is based in Surat (Jina search + site text, 2026-11-06).

- Same email and domain also appear on a second developer account in the library, "SAMP TECHNOLOGIES", which publishes **Gallery - Photo, Video & Home** (com.smpgalleryphoto.homephoto, launched 2026-09-02, now 345,389 installs). Its curve is stepped too: 10-03 +33,812, 10-04 +63,053, 10-09 +40,637, then paid spend largely stopped (googleplay library app_day_ext).

- Search results also show Samp Technologies wrote a privacy policy for another package, com.kruabhi.hdvideo.player (HD Video Player), effective 2026-10-29. So they're still launching new packages.

- So in September they tested this template with "Gallery & Home", then in October switched the account name (Mishu Dev) and ran "Video Downloader & Home". Reusing one template across categories and accounts is standard practice for Indian tools-app studios.

### 4. The "& Home" template: who started it, who's copying

Packages in the googleplay library with "& Home / And Home" in the title that are really "tool + default home screen" (app / app_profile tables, 2026-11-06):

| Package | Developer | Launched | Installs | 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All Video Downloader And Home | Ignia LLC | 2026-02-15 | 30,876 | +20,785 |
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | Ignia LLC | 2026-03-05 | 1,213,231 | +277,813 |
| Alarm Clock – Wake Up & Home | Simple Alarm Clock | 2026-05-05 | 538,775 | +76,603 |
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | Thebes Ads PTE LTD (contact email also adesh@ignia.cc) | 2026-08-26 | 1,067,652 | +27,147 |
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | BlazingTrail Technologies India | 2026-08-27 | 270,541 | +52,135 |
| Gallery - Photo, Video & Home | SAMP TECHNOLOGIES (same team) | 2026-09-02 | 345,389 | +22,539 |
| All Video Downloader & Homes | KAVYA-INFO | 2026-09-15 | 18,721 | — |
| All video Download & Home | Profile App Studio | 2026-09-18 | 64,882 | — |
| All Video Downloader & Home | SAAKSHI MEDTECH AND PANELS LIMITED (same email as the row above: evrlydevelopers@) | 2026-09-22 | 82,545 | — |
| All Video Downloader & Home | The monitor Apps | 2026-09-29 | 5,490 | — |
| **All Video Downloader & Home** | **Mishu Dev (this product)** | **2026-10-01** | **349,239** | **+199,899** |
| Super Phone Cleaner And Home / Cleaner - Storage & Home Tools | Thebes / Ignia / BlazingTrail | 2026-10-09~14 | 15–250k | +130k |
| Video Downloader & Home | Thebes Ads | 2026-10-19 | 23,092 | +23,083 |

AppBrain also lists com.rntallvideo.downloader, com.vidplayer.masti..., com.socialvideodownlaoder.allmovies.forall (2026-08-03 since removed from Google Play), and other similarly named packages. "XOX / XXVI / XVX Video Downloader & Launcher" is the same thing with a near-miss name (RD INFO's XOX +10-21 in one day 143,582).

Bottom line: "downloader + default home screen" wasn't invented by this app. It even copied the name. The source is Ignia LLC's Gallery & Home (2026-03), and it's now crowded with copycats. It has at least five or six same-name, same-category rivals, and it has the most volume, because its spend is bigger and it runs in more stores (20 stores charted; most same-name rivals aren't charting in any store now).

### 5. Competitors (doing the same thing)

- **Established video downloaders** (Play): All Video Downloader & Player (QR Code Scanner., 396M installs, +2.33M in 7 days), InShot's Video Downloader (239M), Simple Design's Video Downloader (334M), Leap Fitness's Vitmate (160M), Vidow (109M). All data from the googleplay library, 2026-11-06. Counting 7-day new installs, 73 video downloaders add over 50k a week, for a combined 1,500+ million installs per week. It's a huge, homogeneous, paid-acquisition-driven pool.

- **Off-store APKs** : Snaptube, VidMate (the "Vid matè" lookalikes on Play are riding those two names).

- **Web / open source** : web downloaders such as SnapTik and SaveFrom; open-source projects like yt-dlp and alexch33/super-video-downloader.

- **Built-in features from big platforms** : YouTube Premium offline downloads, save features in TikTok and Instagram. Google Play policy restricts YouTube downloads in particular, which is why downloaders on Play say "supported websites".

- Compared with these rivals, the only real difference is "& Home": after install it prompts you to set it as your default home screen.

### 6. Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **Paid acquisition (most likely Google App Campaigns / ad networks)** : the curve is stepped, with single-day +24k and +72k spikes and pauses of several days in between. The sister app Gallery & Home shows the same curve. The studio's website explicitly says it does "paid acquisition". We have no direct ad creative evidence, since our ad library only tracks products on our list, so this is an inference, but a fairly confident one.

2. **Broad rollout + category charts in cheap-traffic stores** : Nigeria, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Philippines and similar low-cost traffic markets, pushing into the top 20–60 of category charts, then picking up a bit of store exposure.

3. **Store search / ASO** : the title packs in the high-volume keyword "All Video Downloader". New packages have no ratings and limited search weight, so this is a secondary factor.

4. **Account network** : one email backs two developer accounts, SAMP TECHNOLOGIES and Mishu Dev. One template is reused across categories. When a package gets removed or paid ROI drops, they switch to another.

5. **No content channel** : no TikTok, X, or Reddit discussion, and no creator promotion turned up. The only item is a YouTube Short titled "App Feature Demo for Google Play Review", a permissions demo for Google's reviewers.

### 7. Where the money comes from (inference)

- Ad monetization. The "default home screen" is the core of this play: every time a user presses Home they land in the app, which lets it show app-open, interstitial, or native ads. Impressions and retention run well above an ordinary downloader's, and swapping out a default home screen is more hassle than uninstalling an app, which slows churn. The downloader itself gives users a reason to install and open it daily. In Nigeria, India and Southeast Asia, data is expensive and offline video demand is real.

- "Optional proxy selection" (built-in proxy) is also a reason for users to "reach more sites".

- CPI in these markets is low (estimated a few cents to a little over a dime per install, unverified). If ad eCPM times impressions per user covers the cost, they keep spending. Spend stopped (10-26~29) and then restarted, which suggests budgets are adjusted by ROI.

### 8. Visibility

- No press coverage, no X or Reddit discussion, no one posting earnings. No ratings and no reviews.

- But the play has spread through the Indian tools-app developer circle: at least a dozen "& Home" packages with the same name, from 2026-08 to October, covering galleries, downloaders, cleaners, alarms, contacts and SMS.

- Bottom line: almost no one outside knows about it, and the niche inside is already crowded.

### 9. Risks and uncertainties

- Policy risk: Google Play restricts video downloaders (YouTube especially) and home-screen hijacking ads ("disruptive ads" / "ads outside the app"). The same-name package com.socialvideodownlaoder.allmovies.forall was removed from the store on 2026-08-03 (AppBrain). Packages like this may only last a few months.

- Retention unknown: no ratings, no reviews, so real word of mouth can't be assessed. Much of the volume may be bought low-quality installs (or even incentivized).

- No direct evidence of traffic sources (no ad creative found for it). Whether the store developer (Dharmesh Bharodiya) and the site email (smeet7134) are the same people is only inferred from the shared domain and email.

### 10. What to borrow

- "Utility + default home screen": every return to the home screen is an impression, a way to turn a low-value tool into a high-frequency ad slot on Android. But it sits on the edge of Play policy, and similar packages have already been removed.

- Templating: one working "tool & Home" skeleton, reused across categories (gallery → downloader → cleaner) and accounts, with each package run for a few weeks, then scaled or dropped based on ROI.

- Paid acquisition aimed at category charts in cheap markets: a few thousand to tens of thousands of installs can put you on category charts in 20 stores, with some store exposure as a side effect.
