> This format is already a hit bot on BabeChat, Zeta and others (someone said it's been played 7.9M times). It copies the character name, skips the prompt-writing step, then runs paid acquisition by country with fan-meme images. Entry is cheap on the Korean and Japanese entertainment Top Grossing charts: a small spend is enough to chart.

# Spinning the top bot on a chat platform into its own app: a small Korean team's "character possession sim"

**What it is** An AI fan-fiction app: you enter the name of a work, and you step into it as the protagonist, a side character, or an original character, steering the plot through choices. It only targets Korea and Japan and earns through in-app purchases.

**Why it took off** This format was already a hit bot on platforms like BabeChat and Zeta (some say it was played 7.9M times). The app copies the name directly, skips the prompt-writing step, and buys users by country with fan meme images. The entertainment top-grossing bar in Korea and Japan is low, so small volume is enough to chart.

**B** **How you could follow** Check the leaderboards of character chat platforms for the most-used UGC bots, build a single-purpose app with a guided flow using the original name or a category keyword, add long-term memory, save slots and a PC version, and test small budgets country by country with fan meme images.

Grade B: the playbook is clear, few people know about it, and nobody has copied it yet. But its own revenue is unverified (the top-grossing bar is extremely low), installs fall off once spending stops, the features have no moat, and the platform could build the same thing better at any time. A small Korean team took the most popular user-built bot on an AI chat platform, name and all, and made it a standalone app. They ran ads using a gender-swapped Draco Malfoy fan image, got 10k installs in a month, and charted in the entertainment top-grossing lists in Korea and Japan. Volume is still small, but anyone can copy the playbook: check which bots get played most on the platform leaderboards, then build that one as a product and sell it.

### A gender-swapped Malfoy image

On Oct 18, 2026, a Korean user gave "창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션 - AI 2차 창작 소설" (literally "Creative Work Possession Sim - AI Secondary Creation Novel") a 3-star review on Google Play. He said he came in after seeing a gender-swapped Malfoy picture (TS말포이 사진보고 들어왔는데). After installing, he found the app cannot generate images at all, "unlike the ad, it's disappointing." But he also wrote that the writing quality was solid, the phone didn't heat up much, and the free daily check-in points were "very good."

Five days earlier, another review opened with "I installed it after seeing the ad" (광고보고 깔았는데). This app's users were bought, and the ads used the kind of fan meme images that the anime crowd loves most.

By Nov 6, it had about 10.2k cumulative installs on Google Play, with 7 new installs in the last 1,684 days. It ranked #124 in the Korean entertainment top-grossing chart and #170 in Japan (Google Play charts, 11-06). The English name is Self-Insert Sim: AI Fanfiction, the Japanese name is "イフヨミ," and the developer is Always With You LLC; on iOS it is credited to Make Your Wish LLC.

### What it is

The usage is simple: you enter the name of a novel, web comic, or anime you like, and the AI first summarizes that work's world, then asks whether you want to be the protagonist, a side character, or create an original character to step in, and from which point in time. It then writes a passage of the story, offers a few choices, and the plot moves in whichever direction you pick. The store page pitches it plainly: swap protagonist and supporting roles, "reverse the original character's gender (TS)," and "no need to follow the original ending."

One Japan store review (10-27, 5 stars) says it best: "Just name the work and you're immersed in the story, no complicated prompts needed. First AI chat I've seen like this." Another (10-25) says they used to hack around with Gemini, and "this is what I've been waiting for."

Monetized through in-app purchases, with single items priced from $4.99 to $99.99. No ads, daily check-in gives points, and it's playable for free.

### The name is borrowed

"창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션" was not originally the app's name. It was the name of a user-made bot on a Korean AI character chat platform. Possession and transmigration into a book (빙의물) are among the three staple tropes of Korean web fiction, alongside "regression" and "reincarnation." A bot with this name once ranked first on BabeChat's homepage (arca.live forum, 2025-08). On the BabeChat board at DC Inside, someone said in November 2025 that "the one on BabeChat was played 7.9M times." Zeta also has a plot with the same name, launched in June 2025. Similar bots can be found on Crack, Teapot (티팟), and NovelChat, and on DC someone called the Teapot version "the best of all the fan chats I've played."

So demand was already proven, and users already knew how to play. What this team did was pull the format out of the platform, keep the name unchanged, and turn it into a standalone app with no prompt-writing and a guided flow. Search "빙의 시뮬레이션" in the Korean App Store and it comes up first, with Crack second.

The people behind it are not newcomers. The developer, 이창훈 (Lee Chang-hoon), is registered in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. He previously built the AI girlfriend app LovePercent (com.tings.lovepercent, 100k to 500k installs, since removed from Play). Under the same package-name prefix is the AI anime video app AniFlow (about 227k installs on Play, ranked #7 in Korea's Art & Design top-grossing). They had already gone through how to charge for and advertise Korean and Japanese AI entertainment products.

### Where users come from: spend in one wave, then another wave in a different country

The install curve is easy to read (third-party estimates): by Oct 16 the cumulative total was 595, and by Oct 22 it was 6,840, with 600 to 1,300 new installs per day that week. After that it fell to a hundred or two a day. The Japanese version launched Oct 21, and from Oct 30 to Nov 3 daily installs rose again to around 400. By Nov 5 only 90 or so were coming in per day. The pattern, first a push in Korea to build volume, then a drop-off once spending stopped, then a push in Japan, is a very standard paid-acquisition curve. We could not determine whether the spend went to Meta, Google, or elsewhere.

Organic traffic is nearly nonexistent. Searches for the Korean and Japanese names on TikTok return no relevant videos, no one has mentioned it on X in the past two months, and Korean forums discuss the platform bot, not the app. It is barely known, and no second independent app has been spotted following it.

### How much money: the chart bar is low, don't overestimate

10k installs is enough to reach the top-grossing chart, which sounds like high ARPU, but first look at the chart bar. On the same day, an app ranked #115 in Korea's entertainment top-grossing had only 2,080 installs, and apps around #160 in Japan also had a few thousand. In this category, reaching roughly #120 to #190 likely takes a few hundred dollars a day in gross revenue (estimate). Revenue is not public, and we can't estimate it precisely. iOS ratings are sparse (9 reviews in Korea, 25 in Japan), so the bulk of the base is on Android.

### What users are complaining about

The complaints in the reviews are concentrated, and these are exactly the places a follower could do better:

- **No adult content allowed.** The Korean reviews say "there's no 19 mode, get a bit specific and it gets blocked"; the Japanese say "we'll pay, please unlock adult-oriented content." BabeChat allows it, and that is a main reason users stay on the platform.

- **Bad memory.** Japan store 10-29: "30 forgets the opening by the next round, and if you miss a save it's over." Korea store 10-22 1-star reviews say the AI ignores the original characters' setups the further the story goes, and the plot keeps looping back to the original route.

- **Bugs.** Scroll freezes, choices won't tap, crashes before the story starts. Several reviews mention these.

- **No images.** The exact kind of image shown to users in the ads.

- **Chat quota too tight.** "The conversation limit is annoying, I'd rather play in Gemini" and "I'd just run ChatGPT and not pay."

A few reviews praise it: "No ads, check-in gives points, free chat. Don't change these three things"; several people also ask whether there's a PC version.

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | Compared with alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Crack(wrtn) | 1.14M installs, #4 in Korea's entertainment top-grossing | A platform whose tagline is "web novels where you're the protagonist," with a pile of possession-style bots on it |
| Zeta(Scatter Lab) | 7.72M installs, #2 in Japan's entertainment top-grossing | The same-name plot exists on the platform, at several hundred times its scale |
| BabeChat | 170k installs, #32 in Korea's entertainment top-grossing | One of the birthplaces of the same-name bot, can write 19-rated content |
| Glimmer: Interactive Fanfics | 46k installs, #108 in the UK's entertainment top-grossing | The English-speaking world's closest match: interactive fan fiction |
| ISEKAI ZERO | 199k installs | English isekai roleplay; the plots are official originals and can't use user-specified works |
| Kindred, FanFiction AI, Talefy, etc. | iOS US store: a few dozen to 700 ratings | English AI fanfiction writing tool |
| Gemini, ChatGPT | — | Users were already forcing them into this use as a toy |

Functionally it doesn't do anything the platforms can't. It adds adult content and image generation. What's different is only two things: it's a standalone App with onboarding built in, and it uses the bot names users already know, so it can be advertised and priced on its own. No moat. If a platform ships the same mechanic as an official entry point, it's in trouble.

### If it were you

**Bottom line:** Worth testing. What's worth copying is the playbook, not this App: take a proven hit bot from a platform, spin it into a standalone App, add onboarding, then buy installs by country. How much it actually makes is unknown, so don't treat "charted in Top Grossing" as proof of revenue.

**Who it's for:** One or two people, one of whom has run Meta or Google UAC ads and can work out cost per install. Ideally the founder is part of a fan-fiction community and knows its memes and tropes.

**Who it's not for:** Pure coders with no ad experience (there's no tech moat, and organic traffic is near zero); anyone trying to take on Zeta, Crack, or Character.AI head-on as a character platform; anyone who can't live with adult-content review risk while chasing the users who want that content most (the same users who flow from here to BabeChat).

**How to build it:** Start with the charts on Character.AI, Crack, Zeta, BabeChat, and Janitor. Find the most-used UGC bots whose premise is easy to explain (possession, transmigration into a book, romance sim, TRPG all count), and name the App after the bot's original name or its category term. Replace "write a prompt" with three or four onboarding steps: pick a work, pick a role, pick a starting point, then offer choices. Fix the things users complain about most: long-term memory (store character settings and key plot points and pass them in each turn), save slots, a PC or web version, and consistent character voice. Copy the check-in-for-credits, free-to-play, no-ads model; sell credit packs as the in-app purchase.

**How to acquire users:** Run image ads built on fan-fiction memes: one image per popular work, such as gender-bent versions, villains as protagonists, supporting characters rising up. The landing page's first line should say "Type a title and start, no prompt writing needed." Test one country with a small budget and scale only if it works, then move to the next country after each wave. On language: English has Glimmer and a pile of writing tools, but no one has yet carried a platform's top bot names over wholesale. Chinese "transmigration" can be tested first with overseas Chinese and Hong Kong/Taiwan Play users (inference). If the ad shows a feature the App doesn't have, you get what the user who came in for the gender-bent Malfoy got: a one-star review. Ad and product have to match.

**Before when:** The window for this kind of play depends on when platforms turn their top bot mechanics into official features. Ideally launch and finish the first round of ads before Q1 of 2027.

**Signs you got it wrong:** (1) The App's Korean and Japanese Top Grossing rank drops out of the top 200 in December and Japanese installs stay below 100 a day, meaning people leave once ads stop and splitting into standalone Apps can't hold. (2) Crack or Zeta ships "type a title to possess a character" as an official entry point. (3) Your measured cost per install stays above first-month ARPU and won't come down. Conversely, if a few months from now you see a second and third "bot-spin" standalone App charting in the Korean and Japanese Play stores, the route is real, and you should move fast into other languages and themes.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crack(크랙,wrtn) | Android | 2025-03 | Play 1.14M installs, #4 in Korea Entertainment Top Grossing | A platform for "web novels where you're the protagonist," with many similar possession bots. This product does just this one mechanic, and it has onboarding built in. |
| zeta(Scatter Lab) | Android | 2022-05 | Play 7.72M installs, #2 in Japan Entertainment Top Grossing | The platform has a user-made plot with the same name, "창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션" (2025-06). Its scale dwarfs this product. |
| BabeChat | Android | 2024 | Play 170K installs, #32 in Korea Entertainment Top Grossing | One of the birthplaces of the same-name bot, which once ranked #1 on the platform. It can do 19 content; this product can't. |
| Similar bots on 노벨챗, 챗플, 엘린, 티팟, and others | Web | 2025–2026 | Not verified | Each is just one bot on a platform, not a standalone App |

| ISEKAI ZERO: Anime AI Roleplay | Android | Not verified | Play 199k installs | Official original isekai storylines, not a repackaged existing work chosen by the user |
| Kindred / FanFiction AI / Figby / Talefy | iOS | 2024–2026 | iOS US store: a few dozen to 715 ratings | English AI fanfiction writing tool |
| Gemini / ChatGPT | Big-company features | — | — | Users were already forcing them into this use as a toy. This product skips prompt writing. One-star reviews say "might as well just use ChatGPT." |

Where users come from

- **Confirmed** **Paid image ads (platform unknown)** : Korea Play review 10-13 "Installed after seeing an ad," review 10-18 "Came in after seeing the TS Malfoy photo, but it's not what the ad showed." The install curve is a burst from one ad wave that falls off when spend stops, then new waves by country (Korea → Japan).

- Inference **Borrowing the name of a hit platform bot (name-squatting / store search)** : The Korean name is identical, character for character, to the hit bot "창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션" on BabeChat and Zeta. Searching "빙의 시뮬레이션" on iTunes, it ranks first.

- **Confirmed** **The team's existing AI entertainment App ad experience** : The same representative, 이창훈, also ran LovePercent (100K–500K installs, now delisted) and AniFlow (Play 227K installs, #7 in Korea Art & Design Top Grossing). Both package names share the com.tings prefix.

- Inference **TikTok / X / media** : TikHub and x-radar searches for the Korean and Japanese names each return 0 related posts.

## Self-Insert Sim: Why AI Fanfiction (创作物附身模拟 / イフヨミ) Is Breaking Through

Package com.isekairoleplay.app · developer Always With You LLC (iOS listed as Make Your Wish LLC) · Korean name "창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션 - AI 2차 창작 소설", Japanese name "イフヨミ - AI二次創作小説" · research date 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

The App is still small (about 10K installs on Play), so it's not a breakout hit. Its place on the Korean and Japanese Entertainment Top Grossing charts comes down to three things:

1. The theme is a proven hit mechanic on Korean AI character chat platforms. "창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션" was originally the name of user-made bots (prompts) on BabeChat, Zeta, Crack, and other platforms. The BabeChat version once ranked #1 on the platform, and a user said it had been played 7.9M times.

2. A small team that had made AI girlfriend and AI anime video products copied the bot's original name, built a standalone App, and pushed it with image ads. The ad creative uses fan-fiction memes like the gender-swapped Draco Malfoy ("TS 말포이").

3. Revenue comes from in-app purchases ($4.99–$99.99). Daily check-ins grant credits, chatting is free, and there are no ads.

The Korean and Japanese Entertainment Top Grossing ranks 120–190 are a low bar, so "10K installs and charting" doesn't mean it earns much.

### 1. Basic data (googleplay library, App Store API, 2026-11-06)

| items | Numbers | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Play cumulative installs | 10,242; 7 days +1,684 | googleplay.app_profile |
| Play rating | US detail page 3.88 stars / 194 ratings (5-star 91,1-star 11); Korea page shows 4.5 stars / 205 ratings | app_snap; Play Korea page |
| Launched | iOS Korea 2026-10-06; earliest Play review 10-13 (the store's listed launch date 11-02 was reset); iOS Japan 10-24, first Japan Play review 10-23 | iTunes lookup;googleplay.app |
| Charts | Korea Entertainment Top Grossing #122–#132 (in place every day since 10-29); Japan Entertainment Top Free #177–#187 (since 10-31), Japan Entertainment Top Grossing #170–#195 (since 11-02) | googleplay.chart_rank |
| Version | 10-29 was 1.71 → 10-30 was 1.8 → 11-03 was 2.0 | app_snap |
| iOS ratings | Korea 9 reviews (4.67 stars), Japan 25 reviews (4.28 stars), US 0 reviews | iTunes search |
| In-app purchases | $4.99 – $99.99 per item | app_snap |

Install curve (AppstoreSpy estimates, googleplay.app_day_ext): 10-16 was 595 → 10-17 was 1,826 → 10-22 was 6,840. From 10-17 to 10-22 it averaged about 600–1,300 installs a day, dropping to 125–190 a day from 10-23. From 10-30 to 11-03 it climbed back to about 360–410 a day, right when Japan launched. On 11-05 it was about 90 a day. This is the classic pattern: one ad wave drives a spike, it falls off when spend stops, then the next country gets a new wave.

**Chart bar** : On the same day, the #115 Korea Entertainment Top Grossing App was "바이트" with only 2,080 installs. Apps around #160 in Japan Entertainment also had a few thousand installs (googleplay.app_profile). In this category at this position, a few hundred dollars of daily revenue is enough to chart. Revenue scale is unverified.

### 2. Competitors

| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crack(크랙,wrtn) | Android / iOS | 2025-03 | Play 1.14M installs, #4 in Korea Entertainment Top Grossing; iOS Korea 3,469 ratings | Platform-style, with the tagline "내가 주인공인 웹소설 (web novels where I'm the protagonist)". "Fan-fiction possession" bots are among its most popular. This product does only this one mechanic. |
| zeta(Scatter Lab) | Android / iOS | 2022-05 | Play 7.72M installs, +297K over 7 days, #2 in Japan Entertainment Top Grossing | The platform has a user-made plot with the same name, "창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션" (launched 2025-06-24) |
| BabeChat | Android / web | 2024 | Play 170K installs, #32 in Korea Entertainment Top Grossing | A bot with the same name once topped the platform charts here, and users wrote "바베는 790만명이 한거"; people can play 19 forbidden (this product can't, and reviews keep asking for it) |
| 노벨챗, 챗플, 엘린 (elyn), 티팟, and others | Web / App | 2025–2026 | Not verified | All have user-made "fan-fiction possession sim" bots. A DC user rated Tipot's version "the best of any fan-fiction chat I've played." |
| ISEKAI ZERO | Android | — | Play 199k installs | English-language isekai AI roleplay. The world is official original content, not a repackaged work users already love. |
| Glimmer: Interactive Fanfics | Android | — | Play 46K installs, #108 in UK Entertainment Top Grossing | English interactive fan fiction, the closest match to this product |
| Kindred / FanFiction AI / Figby / Talefy | iOS / web | 2024–2026 | iOS US store: a few dozen to 700 ratings | English AI fan-fiction writing tool, not localized for Korea or Japan |
| AI Dungeon, Janitor | Android / web | 2019 / 2025 | Play 3.94M / 2.75M installs | General AI story / roleplay |
| Gemini / ChatGPT themselves | Big-company features | — | — | Verbatim negative review: "그냥 챗지피티 돌리는게 낫다 (might as well just run ChatGPT)". A Japanese review also said it used to be "Gemini forced into a toy." |

Verdict: lots of products do the same thing, and most are bigger platforms. This one ships no new feature. Its move is a **split** : it takes one hit bot from a platform, makes it a standalone app, and then runs paid ads for it.

### 3. Where users come from

**Paid acquisition (confirmed)**

- Korean Play review 10-13: 「광고보고 깔았는데」 (I installed it because of an ad).

- 10-18: 「광고랑 달라서 짜침. TS말포이 사진보고 들어왔는데」 (Not what the ad showed, a letdown. I came in because of the gender-bent Malfoy picture). The ad creative is a fan-made gender-bend meme, and the image feature in the ad isn't actually in the app.

- Japan store 10-25: 「広告で勝手に起動する」 (it launches on its own from ads). Unclear what this refers to.

- The curve shows a 10-17 to 10-22 push and the Japan launch wave, both consistent with country-by-country ad rollouts.

- Our Meta and Google ad libraries don't track this developer. Which platform they used (Meta, Google UAC, or X) is unverified.

**Name / store search (likely working)**

- The Korean app name matches exactly the hit bot on BabeChat and Zeta: 「창작물 빙의 시뮬레이션」.

- Users who played the bot search that phrase in the store, and this app comes up. On iTunes, searching 「빙의 시뮬레이션」 puts it first, with Crack second.

- The website isekai-rp.com is just a download landing page.

**Creators / influencers (none found)**

- TikTok (via TikHub) searches for the Korean and Japanese names returned no relevant videos.

- X (x-radar): 60 posts in the last 0 days.

- Korean forums only discuss the bot (arca.live, and the babechat and aichatting boards on DC), not this app.

**Existing team assets (yes)**

- The developer is 이창훈 (Lee Chang-hoon), from Yongin / Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do.

- The same person also made 러브퍼센트 LovePercent under Always With You LLC (com.tings.lovepercent, 100k–500k installs, since removed from Play).

- Make Your Wish LLC also made AniFlow (com.tings.aniflow, 227k Play installs, #7 in the Korean Art & Design top grossing chart; 568 iOS ratings in the Japan store) and the naming app 작명신.

- All package names share the com.tings prefix, pointing to a small studio that knows Korean and Japanese AI entertainment monetization and paid acquisition.

### 4. Why it took off

1. **Demand is already validated on the platforms** : 빙의물 (possession / sliding into a book's story) is one of the three big Korean web novel tropes 「회빙환」 (regression / possession / reincarnation) (namu.wiki).

3. **Better than the platform version, since you don't have to write prompts** : you enter a work's title, the AI first organizes the world, then asks whether you want to be the protagonist, a supporting character, or a custom original character, and which point in time to start from. Japanese top review: 「作品名を指定しただけで難しいプロンプト何も入力することなく…こういうの待ってた」 (just name the work, no tricky prompts needed... this is exactly what I was waiting for).

4. **Monetization is well designed** : daily check-in rewards, free chat, no ads (Korean reviews name all three), and high-priced in-app purchases push up ARPU.

5. **Good at paid acquisition and creative selection** : gender-bend fan memes stand out in Korean and Japanese fan circles.

6. **Clear weak points** : bugs (scrolling, crashes), no 19 ban, no image generation, and it forgets after about 30 turns of context (Japan reviews). Retention is unverified.

### 5. Differentiation

- **Almost no functional difference** : the same thing can be done on Crack, Zeta, and BabeChat, and those platforms are bigger and offer 19 bans and images.

- **The real difference is format and acquisition** :
    - A standalone app that does one thing well, with an onboarding flow so newcomers don't need to know prompts;
    - A name users already recognize from the bot;
    - Separate ad campaigns and separate pricing.

- This play of "pull a top UGC bot out of a platform and ship it as a single-purpose app" is why it reached a top grossing chart spot in a small market. Whether it lasts depends on whether the platforms make the same thing better.

### 6. Visibility / copycats

- **Visibility** : Almost nobody knows about it yet. No press coverage, 0 discussion on X or TikTok, no public revenue, and the Korean chatter is about bots, not this app.

- **Copycats** : none found as standalone apps. It is itself a copycat and productizer of the bot on BabeChat and Zeta.

### 7. What others can learn

- Look at the top charts on platforms like Crack, Zeta, BabeChat, and Character.AI for the most-used UGC bots, then package one as "one play, one app":
    - Use the bot name and category term users already know;
    - Replace prompts with an onboarding flow;
    - Advertise with a highly recognizable fan meme;
    - Roll out country by country (Korea → Japan).

- It also works in other languages and genres, like the English "self-insert fanfic" or the Chinese 穿书 (book-transmigration) crowd.

### 8. Uncertain

- Whether the original bot's creator and this team are the same person: unverified.

- Which ad platforms were used and how much was spent: unverified.

- Actual revenue: the top grossing bar is low, so hard to estimate.

- Retention: unverified.

- It launched on iOS a week before Play, but iOS has very few ratings (9 in the Korean store), so most of the market is on Android.
