"Worth every penny": a beauty booking app that's been around for 10 years, relisted under a Brazilian name

What it is A booking app for beauty pros who take their own clients: clients book themselves through a link, WhatsApp reminders go out automatically before appointments, plus deposits, waitlists, follow-ups, client records and income tracking. Billed as a monthly subscription.

Why it took off The product is a ten-year-old existing app, Masters Pro. The team gave it a local brand for Brazil, shipped a new package, rewrote store titles per country using local search terms, and bought users through attribution links. From October, Android installs climbed by hundreds a day, and the iOS app charted in Brazil's Business Top Grossing.

CHow you could follow If you already have a team that has run a vertical tool successfully in another country, copy the playbook: local name, new package, per-country store keywords, bundle the cost rivals charge separately into the plan as a selling point, and run trial-to-subscription paid acquisition. Building a Brazilian beauty booking app from scratch is not worth it.

Grade C: it worked because of a decade-old existing product, and few followers have one. Brazilian beauty booking is a red ocean with no feature moat, and local rivals are one or two orders of magnitude bigger. WhatsApp message costs and paid acquisition are on you. The re-brand-and-go-abroad playbook is worth learning, but copying it from scratch is not a great deal. Few people know about it yet

Master UP is a booking and client management app for nail techs, lash artists and hairdressers in Brazil and Mexico. Its pitch is "automatic reminders through the official WhatsApp API, no per-message fee." It looks like a new product from 2026 years ago, but it's really the Latin American relaunch of Masters Pro, a product that's been around for a decade and has passed a million Android installs: new name, new package ID, store rankings rebuilt from zero, and paid acquisition on top. Below: what it is, where the users and money come from, and whether you should follow.

A five-star review from Oct 27

In 2026 Oct 27, a user named Pati LC gave Master UP five stars on the Brazilian App Store:

Great for anyone who sells through online booking. Works perfectly. It costs money, but every penny is worth it.

Scrolling back, an Oct 7 reviewer wrote "this app saved my life, all my clients are under control now"; a Jul 30 user said "it sends me notifications and reminds my patients via WhatsApp to come back, I love it." The iOS Brazil store has 298 ratings in total, averaging 4.8 stars (App Store Brazil page, 11-06).

The website's hero line reads: "Menos faltas, mais clientes que voltam" (fewer no-shows, more clients who come back). Underneath, in small type: automatic reminders through the official WhatsApp API, "sem custo adicional por mensagem" (no extra cost per message).

What it actually is: a front desk for solo beauty professionals

The users are beauty pros who take their own clients: nails, lashes, hair, foot care. Their clients almost all book over WhatsApp, and the three biggest headaches are: clients forgetting appointments, last-minute cancellations, and clients who never come back after one visit. Master UP has features aimed at each:

  • Personal booking page: clients pick their own time from a link.
  • WhatsApp reminders: sent automatically before the appointment, with a confirm button; the site claims it cuts no-shows by up to 70%.
  • Deposits (called sinal in Portuguese) and waitlists: when someone cancels, the freed slot is offered to people waiting.
  • Follow-ups: after a set number of days since the last visit, a booking link is sent to the client automatically.
  • Client records, price list, and income ledger.

It's a subscription with a 14-day free trial. iOS Brazil pricing: Premium R$29.90/month, R$79.90/3 for 3 months, R$129.90/6 months; VIP R$49.90/month, R$129.90/3 for 3 months, R$249.90/6 months (App Store Brazil page).

The features themselves aren't new. Rivals in this category in Brazil have all of them. The difference is mainly the WhatsApp line, covered below.

Who makes it: an old product in a new shell

Master UP's Android publisher is JSW CA SOFTWARE TRADING – FZCO, based in Dubai's free zone; the iOS publisher is JSW Tech SL in Spain, and the app contains Russian. Several clues point to one older product: Masters Pro, package ID ru.jamsoft.masters, publisher Jam Soft / JAM-SOFT KZ, with 1M+ Android installs and 10k+ reviews. Its iOS version has been listed for 2015 years and still ranks high on the business Top Grossing charts in Ukraine, Belarus and Estonia.

The timing of the switch is also visible. The Brazilian TikTok account @masterup_brazil had October 2025 videos still saying "manage multiple locations in Masters Pro." The last mention of Masters Pro was in Apr 2026 18; after that everything is called Master Up. The new iOS version went up on Mar 10, and the new Android package on Jul 9. The new package launched at version 3.75, and the code is the old code.

The website's "4.8 stars, 30k+ reviews, 12 Latin American countries" doesn't match an app only a few months old. It's basically Masters Pro's reviews added together.

Why switch? The team hasn't said. The likely reason: drop the ru. package prefix and the generic word "Masters" for a memorable Latin American brand that localizes well. A new package ID also resets store rankings and ratings to zero. The old Masters Pro stays up and keeps collecting subscriptions from its existing users.

(AppstoreSpy estimate; the Google Play page shows "5M+")

On Android it climbed from #187 to #143 on Brazil's Business Top Free chart, while Mexico hovered between #133 and #166 (10-29 to 11-06). iOS did better: #58–80 on Brazil's Business Top Free chart, the highest-ranking beauty booking app on that chart, above the local veteran Trinks Profissional (#155). Since Nov 4 it has charted in Business Top Grossing, between #102 and #197.

Set against the whole market, it's still a small player. Brazil's local Agenda Boa has 1.83M Android installs and Minha Agenda 1.08M; Master UP is two orders of magnitude behind. New user acquisition has moved to the new brand, but the money still mostly sits with the old Masters Pro, which ranks #73 on Brazil's iOS Business Top Grossing, above Master UP.

Where users come from: paid acquisition, plus store search

9 thousand Android installs, with only 35 ratings on Play. That ratio means users aren't coming from word of mouth.

The evidence points to paid acquisition: every download button on the website links to sitebrazil.onelink.me, an AppsFlyer attribution link, which only paid campaigns produce. Installs have grown by hundreds a day steadily since October. Whether the spend is on Meta or Google, and what the creatives look like, couldn't be checked through Meta's public ad library (likely Meta + Google app promotion, unverified).

The second source of users is store search. In each country it rewrote its title to match local searches: Brazilian Android calls it "Master UP: Agenda online," Brazilian iOS "Agenda de clientes," Mexico "Agenda de citas." The descriptions repeat agenda online, CRM, lembrete (reminder), escala de trabalho (work schedule) over and over.

Its own content isn't bringing in much. @masterup_brazil has 4,390 followers on TikTok, and recent videos get only a hundred or two hundred views each. They talk about "after the last client, the admin still isn't done" and "a no-show is lost money," and one posted a Halloween-themed wallpaper. On X, nobody has mentioned it in the last 90 days, and there's no press coverage.

Where the money comes from: subscriptions, with WhatsApp costs absorbed

Revenue isn't public. What can be seen: the iOS app charted in Brazil's Business Top Grossing in November, which means people are paying after the trial. Reviews often say things like "worth paying for," but there are also one-star reviews like "scam, don't subscribe" and "stole my money," which are about auto-renewal.

It uses WhatsApp as a selling point because Brazilian rivals are weak here. The official WhatsApp Business API charges per template message. Small tools either make you send from your own number (which risks a ban) or charge extra: Fresha gives 20 free messages a month and charges beyond that; AppBeleza's WhatsApp is a separately paid module; cheaper apps like Tua Agenda (R$19.90/month) and Agendali require your own number (a seven-way comparison on agendali.com.br, 10–November). Master UP folds that cost into a plan starting at R$29.90. Carrying that cost takes a certain user base, and the old product's foundation helps here (inferred).

This is a red ocean. I found no one clearly copying Master UP. Brazil already has plenty of small "WhatsApp reminders + booking link" tools, and they're all doing their own thing.

What users still complain about

Most reviews are positive, but the specific requests cluster (App Store Brazil reviews, 5–October):

  • "Can you stop making me hit send on every reminder, and make it cheaper?" (9-17), "Can you send reminders to all my clients in one tap?" (8-26). In some versions, reminders still have to be sent manually.
  • "It would be perfect with a desktop version." (9-22)
  • "Add client birthdays, plus a payments feature." (8-31)
  • Booked days should get a different color in the new interface. (9-20)

If it were you

Verdict: the playbook is worth learning, but building a Brazilian beauty booking app from scratch isn't worth it. Master UP worked because of something most followers don't have: a mature product, refined over ten years, that already makes money in other markets. In Brazil, it mostly swapped the shell, rewrote the titles, and bought ads. Its features are about the same as a dozen competitors', and the market has several local rivals one or two orders of magnitude bigger.

Who it's for: teams that already have a vertical tool proven in some country (booking, bookkeeping, store management, fitness coach scheduling, etc.). Master UP shows a copyable move for going global: you don't need to change the product much. Give it a local name, open a new listing, and you can rank from scratch in a new market.

Who it's not for: indie devs who want to write a booking app from scratch and break into Brazil with "free WhatsApp reminders." There's no feature moat, you'd carry the cost of WhatsApp's official messaging API yourself, and acquiring users means paying for ads. You lose on all three fronts.

How to do it (if you already have a product):

  • Change the brand, open a new listing, and keep the old brand to collect the existing base. The new name should be easy to say and localizable, with no trace of the original country.
  • Swap store titles per country to the words locals actually search ("Agenda online", "Agenda de citas"), and stuff the descriptions with feature keywords.
  • Pick a pain point where local competitors charge extra, bundle that cost into your plan as the headline selling point, and put it in the first line of your website.
  • Anything users complain about is an opening: one-tap bulk reminders, a desktop version, client birthday reminders, payment collection.

How to acquire users: put attribution links on the website, offer a 14-day trial with monthly/quarterly/semiannual plans, buy installs through Meta and Google app campaigns, and measure payback using trial-to-paid conversion. Don't count on TikTok for your own brand. Their account has 4k followers and about 200 views per video, which is just a storefront.

When to move: this isn't a window that closes, but it gets more crowded every month. Brazil's category keeps getting new local tools, and AgendaPro is also expanding across LatAm. If you plan to bring an existing product over, starting before the first half of next year is safer (estimate).

What would mean you read it wrong:

  • If Master UP is still at 10–20k Android installs by early next year and falls off the iOS Top Grossing chart, that means swapping the shell and buying ads won't pay back in this market. Don't follow.
  • If WhatsApp raises prices again, or several big competitors announce free reminders, this selling point disappears and you'll need a different angle.
  • Conversely, if it passes 100k installs within six months and charts in the top 50 of Brazil's Business Top Grossing, it means "old product, new shell, enter LatAm" is easier than expected, and it's worth seriously checking whether you have a product that can move over.

Master UP - Scheduling App (com.jswtech.masterup): why it worked

Channel: Google Play (iOS checked too) | Developer: JSW CA SOFTWARE TRADING – FZCO (Dubai); iOS publisher JSW Tech SL (Spain) | Research day 2026-11-06

Bottom line

Master UP isn't a new product. It's a beauty-salon booking app that has been around for 10 years: Masters Pro (Jam Soft, a Russian team; Android package ru.jamsoft.masters, 1M+ installs, 4.9 stars, 10.4k reviews), rebranded and re-packaged for the Brazil/LatAm market as a new brand and new package ID. It launched on iOS in March 2026, changed its Brazilian social accounts in April, went to Android in July, and started scaling paid user acquisition in October. What made it take off came down to three things: a mature product that was already proven, a localized LatAm brand with ASO keyword coverage, and paid acquisition attributed through AppsFlyer. The product pitch, "official WhatsApp API reminders, not charged per message," is rare among Brazilian competitors, but it doesn't explain the growth on its own.

Takeaway: Brazil's new downloads have shifted to Master UP (#68 on the iOS Free chart, the highest-ranked beauty booking app in Brazil's Business Free chart, above Trinks Profissional's #155), while revenue still mostly comes from the old Masters Pro (Grossing #73, Master UP #197). This is a classic case of "keep the old brand for existing revenue, use a new brand to acquire users."

2. Who it is: evidence of a rebrand

  • The Android developer is JSW CA SOFTWARE TRADING – FZCO, a company in Dubai's free zone; iOS is JSW Tech SL in Spain (developer site jswtech.eu). Masters Pro was originally Jam Soft LLC / JAM-SOFT KZ, package ru.jamsoft.masters. The recall card records Russian in the iOS version's language list.
  • The Brazilian TikTok/Instagram account @masterup_brazil: 2025-10 videos still say "dá para gerenciar vários endereços no Masters Pro"; 2026-04-18 is the last one mentioning Masters Pro, and everything after says Master Up/MasterUp (pulled via TikHub). So the Brazilian brand switch happened in 2026 3–April, which lines up with the iOS launch date (3-10).
  • The product form is nearly identical to the Masters Pro website go.masterspro.app/pt: personal booking page, online scheduling, WhatsApp/SMS reminders, client profiles, income reports. The Android Master UP store description and Masters Pro's Portuguese description use the same keyword template ("agenda online / crm / lembrete / organizador de tarefas / escala de trabalho" stacked repeatedly).
  • Inference: a Russian-linked team moved its core entity to Dubai and Spain 2022 years later. To enter Latin America, it dropped the Russian traces (the "ru.jamsoft" package name, the generic "Masters" name), switched to a memorable new brand, and got a fresh package so store rankings and ratings could be built from zero. Unverified: whether the team has ever publicly explained the rebrand.

3. Competitors

5. Why it took off

  1. The product already exists and is proven: Masters Pro has run for 10 years, with 1M+ Android downloads and a 4.9 rating, and still charts on Business Top Grossing in several countries. The new Master UP Android build shipped as version 3.75, so there's no need to build the product from scratch.
  2. The new brand targets Latin America specifically: fully localized into Portuguese and Spanish. The landing page copy (using WhatsApp instead of a notebook, no more double bookings, "sinal" deposits, Pix habits) is written for Brazilian beauty freelancers, and store titles follow each country's search terms.
  3. Paid acquisition with a viable payback path: OneLink attribution + 14-day free trial + R$29.90–49.90/month subscription. On iOS in Brazil it has already reached the Business Top Grossing chart, suggesting trials convert to paid.
  4. The selling point hits a high-frequency pain point in Brazil: beauty bookings there run almost entirely on WhatsApp. "Official API reminders, included in the plan, no per-message fees" speaks directly to the two pain points of no-shows and WhatsApp accounts being banned or costing extra. Competitors either charge extra (AppBeleza modules, Fresha beyond 20 messages) or require you to connect your own number (Agendali, Tua Agenda).
  5. Timing: WhatsApp Business Platform switched to per-template-message billing from 2025, making it hard for small tools to absorb API costs. Large, established teams can afford to offer it "at no extra charge". Unverified: how exactly this policy affects its pricing.

6. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off

  • Little feature differentiation: booking links, reminders, client profiles, income tracking, deposits, waitlists. Competitors almost all have these.
  • The real differences are two: (a) WhatsApp official API reminders are included in the plan, not billed per message, plus "auto-send return-visit invites to dormant clients" (automatically sends a WhatsApp booking link based on days since the last service); (b) an 10-year-old product wearing a new Latin American local shell, a mature playbook known in Chinese as "going global by reskinning".
  • It took off mainly because of (b): an old product, a new brand, ASO, and paid acquisition. (a) is the hook in ad creatives and landing pages that helps conversion, but it's not a unique moat. Scale matters too: 9 thousand Android installs and a ranking in the hundred-plus range on Brazil's business free chart make it a small player in that market. It's one or two orders of magnitude behind Agenda Boa (1.83M) and Trinks.

7. Visibility and copycats

  • Visibility: few people know about it yet. Revenue isn't public (not listed on TrustMRR, founders haven't shared it), there are 0 discussions on X, and no media coverage. It only shows up in Brazil's beauty-industry circles through ads and its own social accounts.
  • Copycats: none found that specifically imitate it. The Brazilian "WhatsApp auto-reminder + booking link" small SaaS niche was already crowded (Agendali, TopAgenda, AgendaZAP, etc.), so these are parallel rather than copied.

8. What others can borrow

  • Old products in new regions rebrand and launch new packages: the new brand localizes well and rebuilds store rankings, while the old brand keeps milking its existing base.
  • Absorbing the "per-message cost" into the plan and making it the headline selling point ("sem custo adicional por mensagem").
  • Landing pages with OneLink attribution, paired with a 14-day trial and monthly/quarterly/semiannual subscriptions, to recoup paid acquisition.
  • Store titles swapped per country for local search terms ("Agenda online", "Agenda de citas").

9. Still unclear

  • Which specific channels it spent on and how much (the Meta ad library couldn't be scraped and isn't indexed in our own library).
  • How much of the Android growth came from migrating existing Masters Pro users.
  • Whether the landing page's "30 mil+ reviews / 12 countries" is a global combined total for Masters Pro (almost certainly combined, but not verified country by country).
  • Team background (Jam Soft's Russian/Kazakh origins) and the public reasoning behind the rebrand.
  • Paid conversion rate and actual revenue.
