# A dating app charts in Communication, and at 10k installs it reaches #60 in the US Top Grossing: Comely and the nine shell companies behind it

**What it is** An Android "nearby dating" app for men in English-speaking countries. "Women nearby" start chatting, and after a while you're asked to pay to unlock, with in-app purchases from $9.99 to $179.99.

**Why it's taking off** It's one of nine look-alike apps on the same template currently getting more ad budget. It sits in the low-barrier Communication category, runs on paid acquisition and high-priced in-app purchases, and at 10k installs it has charted at #60 to #85 in the US Communication Top Grossing.

**D** **How you could approach it** Don't copy this product. Just take two tactics and apply them to a legitimate product: when launching, pick a plausibly adjacent category with a lower chart bar, and test the same core under two or three bundle IDs with small budgets in parallel, scaling spend on whatever pays back.

Grade D: the product has no differentiation, and the same playbook has already reached 1.35M installs in this niche through older accounts. The revenue depends on nine entities spreading out to avoid bans, and on fake profiles or staff chatters inducing payments. One or two people can't reproduce that infrastructure, and they'd face delisting and regulatory risk. Few people know about it yet

Comely is an Android "nearby dating" app. It has been on the store for under four months, has 10k installs, and sits on the Communication charts in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada almost every day. It didn't become a hit because some small team built a great product. It's one of nine apps that a Chinese team launched in bulk under nine different "trading companies" from the same template, and its turn to scale has just come. The two operating tactics are worth learning. The product itself is not worth following.

### The same person left the same complaint under three apps

On Oct 2026 18, a user named Randolph Bowden gave Comely five stars on Google Play: "The women are classy and beautiful 😍". The day before, Kevin Evans wrote "Beautiful close too me Ladies!". These are the two most prominent reviews on the Comely page.

Now look at several apps that look exactly alike. A user named Michael Russell wrote under OneVibe on Sep 5: "The ad says all profiles are verified. Lie. These bots just want you to upgrade so you can see their private photos and videos." On Sep 16 he posted the same thing under Heartly: "Only a half-hour 'free trial'... no verified profiles, only bots trying to get me to upgrade." On Oct 9, the same name appeared under Crushly: "After the half-hour free trial, the paywall cut off the conversation."

One person was charged the same way by three apps with three different names within three months. Another user named Mike 2.0 put it more bluntly under OneVibe: "It's the same profiles as those other apps... you'll see the same string of avatars on other scam apps." (Google Play review, 08-23)

### What it actually is

The store copy is boilerplate: "💕 Meet Nearby. Feel the Spark. 💕", promising people nearby, verified "real profiles," and coffee if things go well. Piecing together the reviews from these apps, the actual flow is: soon after signing up, "women nearby" start messaging you, then a paywall appears after a while. You pay to unlock chat and to unlock "private photos and videos." Comely's in-app purchases are priced from $9.99 to $179.99 per item (Google Play, 11-06), and its privacy policy describes them as "membership subscriptions and virtual goods."

From the outside you can't tell whether the "women" who chat are real users, staff chatters, or AI (**inference** : reviews of sister apps repeatedly mention "bots," "the same profiles," and "photos you can find online").

The paying customer is clear: men in English-speaking countries. The names, tone, and way they complain about price in the reviews mostly suggest people middle-aged or older (**inference** ).

### Who's behind it: nine "trading companies" on one template

Comely's developer on Google Play is Jilin Xiangrui Trading Co., Ltd. The contact email is a random English-name Gmail address, the website is a one-page boilerplate template, and the privacy policy lists an address in a residential compound in Changchun's Erdao District, unit 302. Business registry searches show companies with the same name have trading and food-sales scopes, and former names in logistics and construction. None of this relates to a dating app, so the entity looks borrowed or bought (whether it is the same company is **unverified** ).

Checking the same traits across apps (bundle IDs are invented words under com.<word>.android, privacy policies sit on "<brand>-chat.com", developers are "XX Trading" in some city, in-app purchase caps are $179.99, and all are in Communication), we can find at least nine:

| App | Developer | Launched | Installs (11-05) | Best US Communication Top Grossing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OneVibe | Zouge Trading | 07-21 | 19,553 | 39 |
| Heartly | Guangxi Youhe Trading | 07-17 | 13,761 | 33 |
| Crushly | Dongguan Feizhicai Trading | 07-21 | 11,574 | 83 |
| Amoura | Guizhou Shishan City Trading | 07-21 | 10,414 | — |
| **Comely** | Jilin Xiangrui Trading | 07-17 | 10,297 | 60 |
| Meetly | Nanyang Luhe Network Tech | 07-21 | 6,613 | — |
| Meetora | Wuhan Yueningge Trading | 08-14 | 4,380 | — |
| Lovora | Qiqihar Jibuchun Trading | 07-21 | 4,074 | — |
| Duora | Aiminglong Trading | 09-29 | 617 | — |

Source: Google Play store pages and install counts, 11-05/11-06. Seven launched within the five days of Jul 17 to 21, and some were still launching new apps at the end of September. Combined, roughly 80k installs.

Splitting into nine entities has practical benefits: if Google bans one account, the others aren't affected; the same product can hold several chart spots at once; and you add budget to whichever one pays back best.

### Why this one, and why now

**Its turn has come.** In third-party estimates (AppstoreSpy) of install curves, Amoura and Crushly scaled from late September to mid-October and then barely moved. Heartly rose about 4,400 over the three days from 10-30 to 11-02. Comely and OneVibe have climbed steadily since late October. On Oct 4 and 8, several sister apps jumped on the same day, which looks like one ad account adjusting budgets on the same day (**inference** ). Comely added 4,183 installs in the past week (Google Play, 10-29 to 11-05), with 16 to 34 new ratings per day, a steady pace.

**There is advertising, but we couldn't find where it runs.** None of the nine apps' advertisers turn up in the public ad libraries of Meta, Google, or TikTok, and no one is discussing them on X, TikTok, or Reddit. But user reviews explicitly mention "the ad says all profiles are verified," so they are buying paid acquisition, most likely through agency accounts. The channels are **unverified** .

**Putting it in Communication lowers the bar a lot.** A dating app would normally sit in the Dating category, where Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge compete. In Communication, the competition is messaging tools. With 10k installs and a bit of revenue from high-priced in-app purchases, it can rank #60 to #85 in the US Communication Top Grossing and #62 to #117 in the Communication Top Free charts in Australia, the UK, and Canada (Google Play charts, 10-29 to 11-06, updated every day). It has never entered any overall chart. The chart placement brings some organic traffic, but mainly it makes a small paid campaign look like it's "on the charts."

**The ratings are suspiciously uniform.** 520 ratings, averaging 4.71 stars, 84% five-star, but only 29 written reviews. The rating count is roughly 5% of installs, where typical apps run 1% to 2%. OneVibe is at 5.3% and Heartly at 5.1%, almost identical, which suggests a uniform in-app rating prompt, or manipulation (**inference** ).

### Who it's competing with

This niche is already crowded. Others that put "local dating" in Communication include at least:

| Product | Scale | Compared with Comely |
|---|---|---|
| Blazing: Ignite Your Love Life | Launched 2023 years ago, 1.35M installs, #12 in US Communication Top Grossing | Older accounts that scaled the same playbook |
| Metya, LocalSingles | Launched 2025 years ago, 78k / 96k installs, #34 / #46 in US Communication Top Grossing | A year earlier, bigger single product |
| NightSpark | Launched 2026-09, in Social, 63k installs, +22k in a week | Same period, same category, bigger volume |
| Muah | Launched 2026-05, Social, 86k installs | Similar flirting-chat apps |

Source: Google Play, 11-06. Comely is a very small one among these, and the product shows nothing that sets it apart from its sister apps or competitors.

### If it were you

**One-line verdict** : Don't follow it. It isn't a product opportunity. It's an operating playbook of "shell app matrix + category arbitrage + paid acquisition + paid chat." The same playbook has already reached millions of installs elsewhere, and the part that makes money, letting users believe they're talking to real people nearby, could get it delisted by Google at any time. The US also has regulatory precedent: dating sites that used fake profiles to induce payments have been penalized by the FTC.

**Who it suits** : only companies already doing overseas social paid acquisition, with chatter teams and several developer entities. For them it's just another shell.

**Who it doesn't suit** : solo indie developers or teams of one or two. You don't have nine entities to spread ban risk, you don't have ready-made chatters or a creative library, and your ad budget can't support rotating product tests.

**If you want to learn something** : take the two tactics and apply them to a legitimate product. First, choose your category carefully: look at the chart bars in adjacent categories. The same volume can earn you more chart positions and organic traffic in a lower-barrier category, provided the category is plausible and won't be changed back by review. Second, build two or three bundle IDs for the same core, aimed at different audiences, test them in parallel with small budgets, and scale based on payback data. That's more reliable than betting on one name.

**How to acquire users** : this category runs on paid acquisition, not content. If your product can only grow through paid ads, first work out whether the first-purchase price can pay back the acquisition cost within 7 days, and only then talk about scaling.

**Is there a window to act before** : no window to rush for. This is an existing-inventory playbook, not a new opportunity.

**What would show this read is wrong** : (1) all nine apps are still listed and their installs still rising six months from now, which would mean Google tolerates this format more than expected and the risk has been overestimated; (2) a small dating-app team in the same Communication category, but with real people on the other side and no "scam" or "bot" complaints in the reviews, reaches tens of thousands of installs. That would show the honest version also has room, and would be worth a fresh look.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 sister apps including OneVibe / Heartly / Crushly / Amoura and others | Android | 2026-07-17~09-29 | About 70k installs in total: OneVibe 19.6k, Heartly 13.8k | Same template, reskinned, no real difference. Only the ad push timing differs. |
| Metya / LocalSingles(Pix Gamming) | Android | 2025 | 78k / 96k installs. Top Grossing in the US Communication category: 34 / 46 | Same playbook, a year earlier, and the single product got bigger. |
| Blazing: Ignite Your Love Life | Android | 2023-05 | 1.35M installs. Top Grossing in the US Communication category: 12 | Same kind of older app that got bigger. |
| NightSpark-Local Dating & Chat | Android | 2026-09 | 63k installs, 7 days +22k | Same category and same period, but placed in Social, so volume is higher. |
| Tinder / Bumble / Hinge | iOS | 2012–2016 | 100M-scale | Real-person two-sided matching and brands. Comely runs a one-sided paid chat with no network effect. |

Where users come from

- **Verified** **Category arbitrage (dating apps charting in Communication)** : in the US Communication Top Grossing top 80, Comely, Heartly, OneVibe, Metya, Blazing and other dating apps all appear (chart_rank 11-06).

- Inferred **Paid acquisition, rotated across the portfolio** : installs spike the day after; several sibling apps including 10-04 and 10-08 jump on the same day, and each product gets a burst then stops (app_day_ext). But Meta, Google and TikTok ad libraries show no matching advertiser.

- **Verified** **Portfolio of shell entities** : 9 apps, 9 different "XX Trading Co., Ltd." entities, random gmail addresses, <brand>-chat.com privacy domains, and the same $179.99 price cap.

- Inferred **In-app rating prompts** : ratings/installs about 5%, consistent across the portfolio. 5-star reviews are 84%, and only 29 written reviews exist.

- Inferred **Content, creators, social** : on X, 30 posts in 0 days; no related TikTok videos; no Reddit discussion.

## Dating & Nearby: Comely (com.kireli.android) research report

Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: googleplay library (app / app_snap / chart_rank / app_day_ext, collected once a day since 2026-10-29; app_day_ext is AppstoreSpy's historical estimate), metaads / googleads / tiktokads libraries, Jina web search and page text, x-radar, TikHub.

### Bottom line

Comely isn't an independently grown product. It's one reskin in a **batch of English-language "nearby dating" apps from a Chinese team, published under multiple shell "trading companies"** (at least 9 apps on the same template, launched in a cluster from July 17 to 21). It charts because: (1) the dating apps sit in the **Communication category** , where the free and grossing bars are far lower than in Dating; (2) there's no visible public source of **paid acquisition** , and pushes rotate within the portfolio in waves; (3) high in-app prices ($9.99–$179.99) raise revenue per install, so 10k installs can sit at #60–#85 in the US Communication Top Grossing chart. The product itself has no visible differentiation.

### 1. Basic data

- Developer: Jilin Xiangrui Trading Co., Ltd. (吉林祥睿商贸). The developer email is a random name at gmail (margiahgottloman@gmail.com), and the website xiangruitrading.com is a one-page "social governance philosophy" template. A Qichacha search snippet shows "Jilin City Xiangrui Trading Co., Ltd." classified as wholesale, with food sales in its business scope and former names including logistics and construction engineering. None of this relates to the apps, so it's a borrowed or purchased entity (Qichacha details require login; not verified whether it's the same company). Privacy policy domain: comely-chat.com.

- Published 2026-07-17, current version 1.0.2, last updated 2026-08-28 (googleplay.app_snap).

- Installs (googleplay library, global cumulative): 10-07 749 → 10-14 2,313 → 10-26 6,111 → 11-05 10,297; 7 days added 4,183. Daily average 500–700, in pulses roughly every one or two days (10-18 +720, 10-21 +800, 10-26 +682, 11-02 +1,345, 11-05 +1,152; days in between are close to 0) (app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimate).

- Rating: 4.71,520 ratings, but only 29 written reviews. Star distribution from 1 to 5 stars: [13, 3, 18, 42, 439] (app_snap 11-06). Ratings-to-installs is about 5%, far above the usual 1–2%. Sibling OneVibe is at 5.3% and Heartly at 5.1%, nearly identical, which points to a shared in-app rating prompt (or fake ratings). Not verified.

- Charts (chart_rank, present every day from 10-29 to 11-06): US Communication Top Grossing #60–#85; Australia Communication Top Free #62–#88; UK #75–#117; Canada #80–#116; US Top Free #133–#198. It has never entered any overall chart.

- In-app purchases $9.99–$179.99 each (app_snap). The privacy policy states that "membership subscriptions and virtual goods" are paid through Google Play.

- Sample public store reviews (Google Play page, read via Jina): "The women are classy and beautiful 😍", "Beautiful close too me Ladies!", "i still think more chatting&flirting". The reviewers are English-speaking men praising "beautiful ladies nearby", the typical form of a pay-to-chat dating product where men pay to talk to women.

### 2. Competitors and sibling apps

#### Same portfolio (same template reskinned, googleplay library)

Shared traits: package names com.<coined word>.android, privacy policies on <brand>-chat.com, developers that are "XX Trading Co., Ltd." entities in different provinces and cities, random English-name gmail developer addresses, the Communication category, a $179.99 in-app purchase cap, and a cluster launch from July 17 to 21.

| App | Developer entities | Launched | Installs | Best US Communication Top Grossing position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dating, Meet & Nearby: OneVibe (com.sftspace.android) | Zouge Trading | 07-21 | 19,553 | 39 |
| Nearby Dating: Heartly (com.vivisht.android) | Guangxi Youhe Trading | 07-17 | 13,761 | 33 |
| Dating, Chat & Meet: Crushly (com.quervi.android) | Dongguan Feizhicai Trading | 07-21 | 11,574 | 83 |
| Chat, Date & Connect: Amoura (com.lurevi.android) | Guizhou Shishan City Trading | 07-21 | 10,414 | — |
| **Comely** | Jilin Xiangrui Trading | 07-17 | 10,297 | 60 |
| Dating, Flirt & Chat: Meetly (com.furrol.android) | Nanyang Luhe Network Tech | 07-21 | 6,613 | — |
| Chat & Meet Singles: Meetora (xyz.qqfarm.internation) | Wuhan Yueningge Trading | 08-14 | 4,380 | — |
| Find Love & Chat: Lovora (com.merisel.android) | Qiqihar Jibuchun Trading | 07-21 | 4,074 | — |
| Dating Real People: Duora (gel.afterher.steallwei) | Aiminglong Trading | 09-29 | 617 | — |

Portfolio total about 81k installs. The install curves show **rotating pushes** : Amoura and Crushly scaled from late September to mid October, then stopped (Crushly barely grew after 10-19, Amoura stopped after 10-28). Heartly went from 10-30 to 11-02 and gained 4,400 in three days. Comely and OneVibe kept scaling from late October into November. Several apps spiked on the same days 10-04 and 10-08 (Amoura +1,853 / Crushly +1,034 / OneVibe +780 on 10-04; Crushly +1,175 / OneVibe +1,251 on 10-08), which looks like one ad account adjusting budgets on the same day (app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimate). Appbrain's "also viewed" list for Crushly recommends Comely and JoySoul, and on chrome-stats the Togetherly page (com.dqcream.android) also lists Comely, suggesting the portfolio may be larger (not fully verified).

#### External competitors in the same niche

| Product | Channel | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Comely |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tinder / Bumble / Hinge | iOS+Android | 2012–2016 | 100M-scale | Real-person two-sided matching and brands. Comely has no brand and no real network effect; it runs a one-sided paid chat. |
| Metya – Local Dating & Chat, LocalSingles (Pix Gamming) | Android,Communication | 2025 | 78k / 96k installs. Best US Communication Top Grossing ranking: 34 / 46 | Same approach of putting "local dating" in the Communication category, nearly identical playbook, a year earlier. |
| Blazing: Ignite Your Love Life(Yala Yala) | Android,Communication | 2023 | 1.35M installs. Top Grossing in the US Communication category: 12 | Same playbook, a bigger and longer-running app. |
| NightSpark-Local Dating & Chat | Android,Social | 2026-09 | 63k installs, 7 days +22k | Same category and period, placed in Social, so volume is higher. |
| Muah: Flirt, Chat & Connect | Android,Social | 2026-05 | 86k installs | Similar flirting chat app, in Social. |
| Cafe / Azar / Flirtify and other video chat apps | Android,Communication | 2019–2025 | 30M / tens of millions / 160k | 1v1 paid video. Different format (video vs. text-based nearby dating). |

Conclusion: this niche (paid "nearby dating / chat" for English-speaking men, often middle-aged) is extremely crowded, and Comely is small within it. It has no product traits that set it apart from its siblings or its competitors.

### 3. Growth tactics

- **Category arbitrage (confirmed)** : dating apps are listed under Communication. In the US Communication Top Grossing top 80, besides Comely there are Heartly, OneVibe, Metya, LocalSingles, Blazing, Flirtify and other dating apps (chart_rank 11-06). The chart placement brings a bit of organic traffic, but more importantly it makes small paid-acquisition results look like chart success.

- **Paid acquisition (strong inference, ads not directly seen)** : the install curves are weekday-style pulses, synchronized across the portfolio on the same days, and each app scales for a while and then stops. That's the signature of budget-driven buying, not word of mouth. But our Meta ad library (app_link / full ad text) finds none of these 9 package names or the *-chat.com landing pages. The Google Ads Transparency Center (googleads library) check on Heartly found no advertiser matching the company name, product name or domain, and the TikTok ad library also didn't match. They may buy Google UAC or ad networks through agency accounts that our libraries don't cover. Channel not verified.

- **Content, creators, social (none found)** : X (x-radar, 30 days) returned zero posts; a TikTok search for "comely dating app" found no relevant videos; no Reddit discussion.

- **Multi-entity portfolio (confirmed)** : 9 shell entities spread the risk (one banned by Google doesn't take the rest down), spread product tests, and hold several category chart slots at once.

- **Rating prompts (inferred)** : ratings-to-installs is about 5%, consistent across the whole portfolio. 5 stars make up 84%, and written reviews are very rare.

### 4. Why it charted

1. It never really "broke out." It's one of the batch-reskinned apps currently getting its turn at scale: 10k installs, while the portfolio has 80k. Small volume.

2. Charting depends on the low bar of the Communication category: getting into the US Communication Top Grossing #60–#85 needs only modest revenue (the exact threshold is unverified).

3. The money comes back through high-priced in-app purchases of $9.99–$179.99. Reviews suggest the users are English-speaking men drawn in by "beautiful ladies nearby", the classic pay-to-unlock chat model. The portfolio can keep rotating spend, which suggests ROI is at least break-even (inferred).

4. We picked the English-speaking markets with the strongest paying power: the US, UK, Australia and Canada. The charts only show these 4 countries.

### 5. Differentiation

No product-level differentiation. It uses the same template and price list as its 8 siblings, and plays the same game as competitors like Pix Gamming and Blazing. The real "edge" is operational: a multi-entity portfolio, category arbitrage and rotating spend. That's why it appears on our charts, but it isn't a defensible advantage.

### 6. Visibility and copycats

- Visibility: few people know about it. No public revenue, no media, X, Reddit or TikTok discussion. Search results only show app store mirrors like APKPure and AppBrain.

- Copycat: it is itself a copycat. The sister apps (OneVibe, Heartly, Crushly, Amoura, Meetly, Meetora, Lovora, Duora) are clones from the same team, and Duora launching in Sep 29 and Meetora in Aug 14 show they're still expanding the line.

### 7. Takeaways

- Category choice: the same product placed in a less crowded neighboring category (Communication instead of Dating), where the grossing and free chart thresholds are much lower.

- Multi-entity, multi-package testing: the same template launched under multiple shells at once, with budget added or cut based on payback data. If one is banned, the rest keep running.

- Tying high-priced in-app purchases to a narrow audience (English-speaking men, nearby, feels-real), so small paid buys can pay back.

- Note: this model often depends on operator-controlled "female" profiles or AI chat, which carries Google Play takedown risk. For us, it isn't a worthwhile blank-space opportunity.

### 8. Uncertain

- There is no direct evidence for the specific acquisition channels (Google UAC, ad networks, Meta agency accounts).

- Whether the female profiles are operator-controlled or AI-driven is only inferred from reviews and the product's form.

- Revenue scale: the daily revenue of Communication top-grossing 60–85 US-store apps is unverified.

- Whether the "吉林市祥睿商贸" on QCC (Qichacha) is the developer entity on Play (address listed as Changchun) is unverified; the matrix's actual operating company was not found.

- Whether the matrix has further members not in our database (JoySoul, Togetherly com.dqcream.android, etc.) has not been fully verified.
