# "Nothing inside when you open it": a football app riding the Yacine TV name, and the five sock accounts behind it

**What it is** An Arabic football scores app, its name leaning on the pirated-streaming app "Yacine TV", earning only from ads.

**Why it blew up** The original Yacine TV isn't on Google Play, so anyone searching for it can only install these knockoffs that ride its name. On top of that, 3 developer accounts and 5 package names rotate through listings, and nearly all of them are propped up with 5-star ratings to stay ranked. In the middle of October, they picked up over 80% of installs for the week.

**D** **How you could follow** Don't copy this app. What you can take away are two observations: a big term like "the original isn't in the store" leaves a search vacuum that a genuinely useful, policy-compliant Arabic fixtures/scores product could fill; and sports categories in the Gulf countries have low entry barriers, so a small volume can get you onto the chart.

Grade D: it gained traction by impersonating a pirated-streaming brand and rotating many accounts. Following that path means walking into Google Play's impersonation policy, and the predecessor was already taken down. The top of this term is held by two similar large apps with 7.93M and 1.72M installs, so followers get nothing. Few people know about it yet

A Moroccan developer account listed a football scores app on Google Play called "كورة لايف - Yamine TV". In 7 weeks it got 55k installs, almost all 5-star. Users come for free live streams, open it and find nothing. It isn't selling features, it's selling a name: the best-known pirated-streaming app in the Arab world, "Yacine TV", isn't on Play, so people searching for it install these lookalike shells. Below, how this playbook works, who runs it together, and why I don't recommend following it.

### Oct 19, a five-star-then-one-star review

Nov 6 On the app's store page for the Saudi store, the top review is from a user named Ahmed, written Oct 19:

He gave it 5 stars. This one review covers two problems with the app: users think they can watch games, open it, and find they can't; yet the rating still looks perfect. The store page shows a 5.0 rating from 410 reviews, with a star breakdown of 5 stars 387, 3 stars 22,1, 2 stars, 4 stars with zero (Google Play, 11-06). Real users don't rate like that. It's most likely prompted or fake (inference).

Its growth was also abrupt. It listed on Sep 15, and by Oct 17 had only 673 cumulative installs by third-party estimates. From Oct 18 to 25 the week added about 47k, peaking near ten thousand in a single day. Then it fell off a cliff, and from November it was doing only a hundred or two to three hundred a day (AppstoreSpy estimates). 54,670 cumulative installs (Google Play install count, 11-06); that one week took 85%. I found no evidence for what happened that week: it could have been a single paid-acquisition push, a search-ranking window, or a big tournament.

### What it actually is

The store description reads straight: today's matches, fixtures, live scores, football news, "everything in one place." The description calls it "YSN TV", the title is "Yamine TV", it was previously listed on APKPure as "YSN TV - مباريات اليوم", and LDPlayer's index has it as "Yacine TV - ياسين كورة لايف". The name changed three times, each time riding variations of two big terms: "Yacine TV" and "كورة لايف" (Koora Live, "football live").

The real trump card is in the developer-website field. It lists yacinetv-pro-live.blogspot.com. Opening the blog, the title reads "تحميل ياسين تيفي Yacine TV APK 2025 للأندرويد" (Download Yacine TV APK for Android), and the first screen tells you: "If installation is blocked, go to your phone's security settings and turn on 'Allow installs from unknown sources.'" Yacine TV is a free pirated APK for watching paid sports channels such as beIN; nearly everyone in the Arab world knows it, but it has never been on Google Play. A YouTube video teaching people to install it on Google TV has 316k views.

So this app's position is clear: when people search Play for "ياسين" or "كورة لايف" and can't find the original, they install these shells whose names look similar and whose titles include "TV" or "لايف". I haven't unpacked the APKs, so I can't say whether real pirated streams were stuffed into the app; going by Ahmed's review, at least his version had nothing.

### One blog, five package names

I found every Google Play app whose developer website field points to this same blog: 5 in total, spread across 3 developer accounts (Google Play, 11-06):

The three accounts' contact emails are outlook.fr, outlook.lv and gmail, and the address LUKYVERO gives is in Morocco. Whether it's the same group can't be seen from outside, but they all share one blog as their "developer website," and that blog's ads.txt lists 10 Google ad publisher IDs and a long list of ad networks (11-06 read). ads.txt is what ad platforms use to verify who sells an app's ad inventory; one file hanging off 5 package names means the ad money from those packages flows to the same set of accounts.

This playbook has a prior history. LUKYVERO previously published an app called "Ilyas Live - الياس كورة لايف"; APKPure shows three versions released in one week, from late May to early June. Today its Play page opens to 404, and it has been taken down. Third-party data says it got 44k installs 230 days before removal, a figure I haven't independently verified. Yamine TV is the same account republished under a different name.

Put it together and this is how the machine works: register several developer accounts → on each, publish one or two sports-score shells named "Yacine / Ilyas / YSN / Yamine + today's match", with descriptions written to pass review as a legitimate score app → push each to 5-star search ranking → monetize via ads, with the money flowing into the same account group → when one gets pulled, swap accounts and names and republish; several packages run at once to spread the risk. Online you can also find the same playbook run by accounts with names like "MISS COIFFURE" (a hair salon), behind "Yanis TV" with 69k installs, using another identical blogspot — borrowed or bought old accounts often carry names like this.

### Who it's competing with

Plenty of people. The Arabic "watch today's games" search on Play splits into three tiers (Google Play, 11-06):

- **Big apps riding the Yacine name** : one literally called "YACINE TV" with 7.93M installs, +7k in the last 380 days, charted in 18 country stores; another "Yacine TV" that only launched in Jul 25 already has 1.72M, +7k in the last 266 days, and ranks #9 in the Saudi Sports chart. These two have taken the bulk of the keyword; Yamine TV gets only 1% to 3% of what they do.

- **Legitimate score apps** : الكورة 12M, Yallakora 2.14M, Koora Live - Live Scores 1.91M; Dawry, which launched in May, already has 759k and ranks #4 in the Saudi Sports chart.

- **Official broadcasters** : beIN SPORTS, stc tv, Shasha. These are what the pirate apps are standing in for.

Yamine TV and the 4 other packages in the same cluster are nearly indistinguishable; in this pool there is no real product differentiation.

### Where the money comes from

Ads only, no in-app purchases (the store page says "Contains ads"). Since November it has been getting a hundred or two hundred new installs a day, so the ad revenue per package should be small; how much the 5 packages add up to, I can't tell. The economics of this business aren't in any single package, they're in "running several at once, each alive for a few months."

### If it were you

**Verdict: D.** Worth understanding, not worth copying. It works by borrowing a pirate-streaming brand name to siphon search traffic, plus a rotating multi-account setup. You could replicate both, but doing so puts you right in the middle of impersonation and misleading-policy territory on Google Play; the predecessor has already been pulled, and the head of this term is held by the two big apps with 7.93M and 1.72M installs.

**Who it suits:** teams with a batch of developer accounts, fluent in the Arabic market, already doing "brand-keyword shell + ads" and willing to accept that any package can be pulled at any time.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie devs who want to build a product that lasts; anyone with a single developer account who loses everything if it's banned; anyone who cares about their accounts and reputation.

**What to do instead:** skip this app and take two observations away. First, **big keywords where the original isn't on the store leave a search vacuum** : high-demand tools that were pulled or never listed (pirate streaming, modded clients, gray-market downloaders) still get plenty of searches on Play. Serving that demand legitimately, for example with a genuinely useful Arabic fixtures, reminders, and legal-broadcast-guide app, competing for legitimate terms like "scores / مباريات اليوم", is doable, but you'd be up against real products like الكورة and Dawry. Second, **the Gulf sports category has a low bar** : the Saudi Sports free chart sits around #140, and cumulatively it adds up to 50k installs; a small Arabic utility placed in the sports category can chart without needing huge volume.

**How to acquire users:** if you build a legitimate version, rely on store search (Arabic fixtures and score-related terms), launch timing ahead of big match days, and Arabic YouTube and TikTok content on "today's matches".

**When to move:** before the big tournaments. Score and live-streaming demand follows the events; the window is the key weeks of World Cup qualifiers, the Champions League, and the Saudi league. The name-borrowing play itself has no window, since every package should be treated as one that can be pulled at any time.

**What would prove this read wrong:** ① Yamine TV and the other packages in the same cluster are still around a year from now and their volume is still growing, which would mean Google's cleanup of these shells is looser than I think and this playbook is more durable than it looks; ② a legitimate Arabic score app reaches millions of users on the strength of "Yacine TV users don't want to sideload APKs," which would mean that search vacuum can be captured legitimately and deserves a second look; ③ the two big Yacine-branded apps get pulled together, at which point the traffic gets redistributed, but whoever catches it is still the name-borrowers, not you.

### Bottom line

This isn't an app that succeeded on its product. It's an **ad shell that borrows the name of "Yacine TV / ياسين تيفي", the most famous pirate sports APK in the Arab world, to siphon search traffic on Google Play** . It belongs to a cluster of at least 3 developer accounts and 5 package names sharing the same blogspot ads.txt. The predecessor, Ilyas Live, was pulled by Google; this one is a rename-and-republish. Traffic concentrated in one week, October 18–25 (about 46k installs), then decayed quickly to two or three hundred a day.

**Install curve (AppstoreSpy estimate, app_day_ext library)** :

In other words, **its real role is as a stand-in for Yacine TV** : people who search for "ياسين" or "كورة لايف" on the store can't find the original (it isn't on Play), so they install these name-borrowing shells.

- Whether the app actually provides pirated live sources inside the app: not verified (the package was not unpacked). Visible reviews include remarks like "direction live football," which suggests at least some users came for the live streams.

- The privacy policy is on sites.google.com, the support contact is a gmail address, and the developer's other app is "Rise Quote" (a quotes app), a typical small-shop account pattern.

### 3. The shell cluster (the most important finding of this research)

Also, com.yacine.cupmondo (بث مباشر | Yanis TV, developer MISS COIFFURE, 69k installs) uses the same `yacinetv-live-2026.blogspot.com/ads.txt`, distribution [0,0,201,0,1210], with the same playbook, possibly the same group or buyers of the same template (not verified). Similar: "Drama Live" from DIAMANT COIFFURE (dr200266.blogspot.com/ads.txt). Developer accounts with "hair salon" names are a common sign of acquired or borrowed accounts.

The predecessor **com.lukyvero.ilyaslive (Ilyas Live - الياس كورة لايف)** : APKPure shows 2026-05-30 to 06-04 with three versions released in a row, 3.0/4.0/5.0; the Play detail page today returns 404 (pulled). A recall piece cites AppBrain: after 44 days and 230k installs it was pulled (I could not independently verify the 230k figure).

**How to adapt this playbook** :

1. Register developer accounts on Google Play with several foreign-name email addresses (outlook.fr / outlook.lv / gmail);

2. On each account, publish 1–2 score-shell apps named with variants of "Yacine/Ilyas/YSN/Yamine + كورة لايف/مباريات اليوم", with descriptions written as compliant score apps;

3. All the apps share one blogspot as their "developer website", which hosts two AdMob publisher IDs (in ads.txt: `pub-2939834101765879`, `pub-9786019404931030`) plus a string of RESELLER ad networks. **The money comes from ads, and one (or two) AdMob accounts collect the traffic from every package name** ;

4. When one package gets taken down, switch to a new account and name and republish. Run several packages in parallel to spread the risk.

5. Ratings: almost all 5-star and 3-star, with no 1/2/4-star reviews. That distribution is highly unnatural for real users and strongly points to review solicitation or rating fraud (inferred, specific method unverified). The high scores in turn help store search ranking.

The same thing (the Arabic "watch today's match" query) is extremely crowded on Play, in three tiers (library googleplay, 11-06):

### 6. How many people have seen it

Almost nobody knows about it yet: no media, X, or TikTok coverage of this package, and revenue is not public. But the "Play shell riding the Yacine TV name" category itself is packed. The library has at least dozens of same-name apps, and the top two already have millions to nearly ten million installs.

### 7. Differentiation

No differentiation. It's nearly identical to the other 4 packages in the same matrix, and two orders of magnitude smaller than the big Yacine-family apps. Its traction comes from the **name (search demand for the original, which isn't on Play) + multiple accounts in parallel + ad monetization** , not from the product.

### 8. What to borrow

- High-demand brand terms for "originals not on the store" (taken-down pirate/gray tools) leave a search vacuum on the store, and shell apps can siphon it. But this is the heartland of Google Play's impersonation/misleading-app policies, and lifespans are measured in months.

- Hosting ads.txt for every package on one blogspot is cheap and simple. It also makes the matrix easy to spot, including for Google.

- Just 140 on the single-country (Saudi) single-category (Sports) chart already yields 50k installs. The bar for Gulf sports categories is low.

### 9. Uncertain

- The reason for the 10-18~25 burst (paid acquisition? ranking window? an event?) was not found.

- Whether the app actually provides pirated live streams inside was not verified by unpacking the APK.

- The 230k installs / 44 days figure for the predecessor comes from a recall card citing AppBrain and was not independently verified.

- Revenue: at a few hundred installs a day with ad monetization, per-package revenue should be small; matrix total unknown.

- Whether the matrix members are the same person can't be confirmed (LUKYVERO's developer info lists Morocco, and the other two accounts use French and Latvian email domains). We can only say they share the same ad blog.
