# Paste someone else's booking code and watch every leg play out: an African football account built an app with 17k installs, and the money is in betting commissions

**What it is** A free football scores app. You paste booking codes from African betting companies such as SportyBet and Betway, and it tracks each leg against live match data, settles win or lose automatically, and sends push alerts.

**Why it took off** African accumulator bettors habitually swap codes in group chats and comment sections, but once the codes are shared there's nowhere to see how the bet is going. The football account behind it puts a download link under every scores post and runs "drop your code in the comments and we'll track it for you", so acquisition costs almost nothing.

**C** **How you could follow it** If you already have an audience, take the same model to East Africa and Ghana, which it doesn't cover yet, plug in local betting companies' codes, and add a progress graphic that people can share back to their groups. If you don't have an audience, find local football pages and channel hosts with booking-code posts and offer them a commission on a link.

Grade C: the product angle is fresh and one or two people could build it, but its traction comes from a few million followers that outsiders can't copy. Even with those followers it has only reached 17k installs with zero ratings, so demand strength hasn't been proven. For anyone without an existing audience, following it isn't worth much. Hardly anyone knows about it

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-08-03 · 11-07 installs 16,795

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

MatchCorner is a small tool for African football accumulator bettors. You paste booking codes from betting companies such as SportyBet and Betway, each leg is tracked against live match data, wins and losses settle automatically, and push alerts come through. It's run by an African football Facebook page that claims several million followers. Roughly 17k installs in three months, a few hundred a day: not fast, but steady. This piece explains which gap it fills, why traffic costs it almost nothing, where the money comes back from, and why, for most people, this is easy to learn from but hard to follow.

### A post that gets people to drop codes in the comments

On a Sunday morning in Nov 2026 1 8:44, the Facebook page MatchCorner (@matchcornertv) posted:

> 🚩 Drop your booking codes in the comments and we'll track every game live for you today. ——Drop your booking codes in the comments and we'll track every game live for you today.

Below it sits a download link, matchcorner.live/r/APPMC1. By Nov 6 the post had 3,200 reactions and 76 comments. The comment section is almost entirely codes, strings like BW7EEC9723, BW7ED9113A, BW7EE8C2E3... Codes starting with BW are Betway codes, and the commenters' names are mostly South African. The page replies to each one with the same link: "Download the MatchCorner App".

That is the whole story of this product: a crowd that swaps codes every weekend, and a page that has that crowd.

### What it is

In one line: a **booking-code tracker** . African betting apps let you turn a bet slip into a short code, which you post in a group or comment section, and anyone can enter it to place the same bet in one tap. Lots of people copy codes, but once they've copied one they have no way to see how it's doing. The bookmaker's own open-bets view only shows your own account's bets, and you have to open each app separately.

MatchCorner fills that gap. From its Google Play listing (11-06):

> Backed over 9 corners? Your leg shows 6 of 9, then 7 of 9, then 8... Backed over 9 corners? Your leg shows 6/9, then 7/9, then 8, and it ticks up with every corner kicked.

It says it tracks 250 kinds of markets (corners, yellow cards, shots on target, throw-ins, individual player fouls), and supports five operators: SportyBet, Betway, bet9ja, Hollywoodbets and football.com. No sign-up; open it and paste the code. It states it is optimised for low-bandwidth networks, it's free, and it has no in-app purchases. The first FAQ item on the website reads "We're not a betting company, we only track and inform", which is how it gets listed on both stores as a sports app.

### How it has grown

| Date | Cumulative installs (Google Play) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 08-03 | — | On Google Play; iOS version 08-19 listed |
| 10-12 | About 6,100 | Third-party estimate (AppstoreSpy) |
| 10-20 | 10,652 | In mid-October it briefly reached about 1,500 a day |
| 10-29 | 13,445 | 10-27 to 10-29 it has nearly stalled |
| 11-06 | 16,795 | Last 7 days +3,350 |

Growth of 25–30% over a month, 300–500 installs a day: **steady, not accelerating** . It has only charted on the South Africa Google Play Sports Top Free chart (every day, ranks 107–140) and on the same Nigeria chart (ranks 181–191, intermittently), and it never made the overall chart. The iOS version has appeared on the category charts in Botswana and Kenya, and its rating count is 0.

One odd number: on Google Play it has no ratings and no reviews at all. 17k installs in three months with zero ratings means either it never prompted for one, or the people who installed it don't open it much (inference; outsiders can't tell which).

### Where users come from: its own pages, with a link under every post

Almost all of them come from the team's own social accounts:

- **The Facebook page.** Linktree says 2.7M followers; the store listing says "3.5M followers, 4.5B views, 15M football fans a month", and it calls itself "Africa's largest and fastest-growing football community", saying the app was "built by the community". The two follower figures don't match, and actual reach can't be verified.

- **Every scores post carries a download link.** The X account @matchcorner (5,021 followers, 76.6k posts) ends each live-score post with "📲 Track Booking Codes on MatchCorner App", and the short links are split by channel (/r/APPX, /r/APPWA1, /r/APPMC1), so it can work out how many downloads each post brought in. There is also a WhatsApp channel, Telegram, and Instagram (11.3k followers).

- **Dropping codes in the comments** is the opening post: users comment to have the page track their bets, which drives up engagement and pushes the link out further.

- **High-odds codes.** It posts "Booking Code (1500+ Odds) 👉 Download App" on X (10-17), using the code itself as bait.

- **The website only gives half the features.** matchcorner.com lets you paste a code and see the bet, but the page itself says "this is a demo; settlement, alerts and full history are on the phone".

No evidence of paid ads or TikTok creators; TikTok search returns nothing for it. Against 2.7M followers, 17k installs is only about 0.6%. Its conversion is not high, which suggests the product still depends on redirected traffic and hasn't spread on its own.

### Where the money comes from: not the app, but betting sign-ups behind it

The app charges nothing. The money is elsewhere: the page's X bio and scores posts have long carried "Claim 100% Bonus Up To R3,000" and "Claim Bonus on YesPlay". YesPlay is a licensed South African betting company, and this is a standard affiliate commission: refer someone who opens an account and deposits, and the page collects the commission. The website also has "Generate Betway codes", which probably carries affiliate tracking too (unverified). Linktree additionally offers "Advertise with us" ad slots.

So the app's role is to turn fans who stop by for a scores post into people who open a tool for every match, giving the page a push-notification channel, and then to send them on to betting sign-ups. Earlier, the page ran a prediction game, a leaderboard and an "ambassador programme" at matchcorner.live, and this tracker is its second product aimed at the same people. One of the co-founders is listed on LinkedIn as Itamar Biran, a former Israeli Olympic alpine skier. No funding or revenue figures were found.

### Who it's competing with

| Who | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Bookmakers' built-in open bets / cash-out (SportyBet, Betway, etc.) | Tens of millions of users | Only shows bets from your own account, and only within that bookmaker |
| SportyBet Code Hub | SportyBet scale | Shares codes and loads bets in one tap; does not count each leg |
| Code converters: Betloy, ConvertBetCodes, Betpaddi, SwapBetCode (Telegram) | Mostly small sites; Betpaddi iOS charted #108 in the Uganda category chart | Move a code to another bookmaker, regardless of how the code moves |
| Code-sharing app: Sure Booking Codes & Tips | Google Play 80k installs | Sells "we give you the code," not "we follow the code for you" |
| BetSlip Live (US) | Android 50+ downloads | Almost the same shape, but for US NFL/NBA prop bets, slip screenshot import, Pro subscription, no distribution |
| Pikkit, Juice Reel, Action Network | US leader; Juice Reel has 109k installs | Syncs by linking a licensed US sportsbook account; no African bookmakers, and no concept of a "code" |

"Live bet tracking" is already crowded in the US, but those tools all link accounts. **Following a public code in real time** is something I couldn't find a second sizable player doing in Africa. The app's own tagline is "the first app to track booking codes live." I saw no copycats and no press coverage.

### Could I follow it?

The product itself isn't hard. Leg-by-leg counting needs live football data that includes corners, yellow cards, shots on target, and so on. Football data APIs covering major leagues cost tens to hundreds of dollars a month (estimate). Parsing codes is something the converter sites already prove is doable (inference; how they do it is unverified). One or two people could build a decent version in a month.

The hard part is what it actually runs on: **millions of people who post scores every day** . Without that audience, you have to find code-sharers from scratch, and that crowd lives in Facebook groups, Telegram, and WhatsApp, where "code seller" accounts are everywhere. Paid acquisition is an option, but users are in South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, and a free tool's value per user depends entirely on affiliate commissions. That math needs checking.

Look at its own results: millions of followers behind it, yet 17k installs in three months and no ratings. The demand is real (the comment threads full of codes are the evidence), but "open it every match" hasn't been proven. Two more risks: if a bookmaker changes its code interface, tracking breaks; and it sits on the edge of gambling, so store listing and promotion wording need care.

### If it were you

**The verdict** : this is a business that only pays if you already have traffic. The product angle is new and copyable, but it's taking off on an audience outsiders can't access, and even with that audience it has only reached 17k installs.

**Who it suits** : people who already have an African (or other "code culture") football account with a big following, a Telegram code-sharing channel, or a WhatsApp group; or people already running a bookmaker affiliate business who need a tool to keep users around.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie devs with no existing audience planning to grow through organic store traffic; anyone hoping to sell subscriptions (these users won't pay for a tracker, and the money is in affiliate commissions); anyone unwilling to go near the gambling edge.

**How to do it** : pick a market it doesn't cover yet, such as Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda with Betika, SportPesa, and Odibets, or Ghana's codes. Supporting three or four of the local leaders is enough. Android first, no sign-up, low bandwidth. Copy the leg-by-leg counting, then add one thing it lacks: a shareable image of "where my slip stands," so code-sharers post it back into their groups and sharing is built into the product. Keep the web version as a demo only; settlement and alerts stay in the app.

**How to get users** : don't build accounts from zero. Partner with people who already have them, such as local football pages and Telegram code-channel owners. Give them tracking links and an affiliate cut, and have them pin your link under every score post and every code-sharing post, using the same "drop your codes in the comments and we'll track them for you" hook as the original post.

**When to be early** : European leagues are in season now, and the busiest stretch for matches and betting is around year-end and the New Year. Launch before mid-December if you can, to catch the Boxing Day round of Premier League fixtures.

**Signs I got it wrong** : (1) If MatchCorner's Google Play installs are still under 50k by January 2027 and it still has zero ratings, then even people with millions of followers couldn't push it, which means the demand is small. (2) If SportyBet or Betway launches "track someone else's code live" inside its own app, a big player has closed the gap. (3) Conversely, if MatchCorner starts charting in the East Africa storefront, it's moving into those markets itself, and the window is shrinking.

## MatchCorner: Track Live Scores (com.matchcorner.matchcorner_app): why it got traction

> Channel: Google Play (iOS version id6790385868) | Developer: MatchCorner (Matchcorner Limited) | Research date 2026-11-06

### One line

A Facebook football page with 2.7M to 3.5M followers (@matchcornertv, audience mostly South Africa, then Nigeria) built a "booking code live tracker." Paste a multi-leg code from SportyBet, Betway, bet9ja, Hollywoodbets, or football.com, and each leg is counted live against the match, auto-settled win or lose, with push alerts. It's taking off **mainly by driving traffic from its own audience** (every score post carries a download link, plus "drop your codes in the comments and we'll track them"). The product fills a real but unserved gap in Africa's "code culture." It's still small: about 17k installs, hundreds per day, steady growth, not accelerating.

### 1. Data (source: our googleplay / appstore databases)

- Play launch 2026-08-03 (the listing date may have been reset); iOS version launched 2026-08-19.

- Cumulative global installs: 2026-10-12 about 6,067 → 10-20 10,652 → 10-29 13,445 → 11-05 16,730 → 11-06 16,795 (figures before 10-12 are AppstoreSpy estimates from app_day_ext).

- Daily gains run roughly 260–770, peaking around 1,500/day in mid-October (10-14), then nearly flattening from 10-27 to 10-29, and back to about 470/day in early November. Over the last 7 days, +3,350, roughly 25–30% monthly growth: **steady, not exponential** . The data card's "about 20% per week" is accurate, but this curve isn't accelerating.

- Charts: only ever on the SPORTS free category chart, ranked #107–140 in South Africa (on the chart every day) and #181–191 in Nigeria (on and off). Never on the overall or Top Grossing charts. On iOS it reached #58 in a free category chart in Botswana and #195 in Kenya, with 0 ratings (appstore database).

- No Play ratings or reviews (ratings in the database are always NULL). The store page says "No account needed" and there are no in-app purchases.

### 2. Competitors

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from MatchCorner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bookmakers' own Open Bets / live scores / Cash Out (SportyBet, Betway, etc.) | Big-company features | Has been around all along | Tens of millions of users | Only show bets you placed yourself, only within that bookmaker's app; MatchCorner tracks **codes shared by others** , across multiple bookmakers, with no login |
| SportyBet Code Hub(sportybet.com/…/code-hub) | Web / in-app | Already there | SportyBet scale | The place for distributing codes and loading bets with one tap; doesn't do leg-by-leg live counting |
| Booking code converters: Betloy, ConvertBetCodes, SlipConverter, Betpaddi, PuntaPro (East Africa), SwapBetCode (Telegram bot) | Web / Telegram / iOS | 2020–2025 | Mostly small sites; Betpaddi's iOS version charted #108 in the Uganda category chart | Solves "move the code to another bookmaker," not "see where the code is going"; MatchCorner's web version also includes a converter / "generate Betway code" as a lead magnet |
| Code-sharing / tips apps: Sure Booking Codes & Tips (Emperor95), Sure Bet Codes (iOS) | Android / iOS | 2020 / 2024 | 80k installs; iOS charted #73 in the Ghana category chart with 79 ratings | They sell "give you the code", MatchCorner sells "follow the code for you" |
| BetSlip Live(Guidcore) | iOS / Android | 2026-06 | Android 50+ downloads (AppBrain) | Almost the same product shape (import once, track each leg live), but they do US NFL/NBA prop bets + screenshot import + Pro subscription, with no distribution |
| Pikkit, Juice Reel (109k installs), Action Network | iOS / Android | 2021–2023 | Leading US bet tracker | Logs into licensed US sportsbook accounts to sync and calculate ROI; no support for African bookmakers, and no concept of a "code" |
| Bet-Analytix | Android | 2019 | 350k installs | Manual bet-logging style tracker, not live |

Verdict: "live bet tracking" is already crowded in the US, but it all relies on account sync. **Tracking a public booking code live** is the angle we found no second scaled player doing in the African market. The site and tweets' slogan is "The First App to Track Booking Codes Live".

### 3. Growth tactics

1. **Its own social traffic pool (confirmed, main channel)** . Facebook @matchcornertv calls itself "The Largest and Fastest Growing Football Community in Africa"; Linktree shows 2.7M followers; the store listing reads "3.5 million followers, over 4.5 billion views, 15 million fans every month" and says "this is the app the community asked us to build". X @matchcorner has 5,021 followers and 76.6k posts; the pinned post is a video download (16k views). **Every live score post ends with "📲 Track Booking Codes on MatchCorner App"** , with per-channel short links like matchcorner.live/r/APPX and /r/APPWA1. There's also a WhatsApp channel, Telegram, and Instagram (11.3k followers). Sources: x.com/matchcorner, linktr.ee/MatchCorner, Play store page.

2. **Comment-section code drop campaign (confirmed)** . FB post: "🚩 Drop your booking codes in the comments and we'll track every game live for you today", while announcing "the first app that lets you track booking codes live". Users drop codes in the comments, engagement climbs, and the download link gets pushed out alongside it.

3. **Web decoder as a traffic funnel (confirmed)** . matchcorner.com lets you paste a code to decode it and generate Betway codes on the web, but settlement, alerts, and history live only in the app. The web version is a demo meant to funnel people into the app.

4. **"High-odds code" content (confirmed)** . X posts like "Booking Code (1500+ Odds) 👉 Download App" use code culture itself to pull people in.

5. **Paid acquisition / creators (not found)** . A TikHub search for "matchcorner" returned nothing; it's not in the x-radar local corpus; ad libraries only track listed products, so we can't confirm whether it runs paid ads.

### 4. Where the money comes from

Not monetized through the app (free, no sign-up, no in-app purchases). From public content, the core is **bookmaker affiliate commissions** : the X bio and score posts have long carried "Claim 100% Bonus Up To R3,000" / "Claim Bonus on YesPlay" (matchcorner.live/r/Big-Bonus, YesPlay, a South African licensed bookmaker). The web tool can "generate Betway codes", likely with affiliate tracking too (unverified). Linktree also lists "Advertise with us" ad rates. The app's job is to turn casual score-checking fans into tools users open every match, gaining a push channel and then funneling people into bookmaker sign-ups. The earlier matchcorner.live was a prediction game + leaderboard + ambassador program (Ambassadors / Rewards); the tracker is a second product built on top of it.

### 5. How many people have seen it

- Revenue isn't disclosed; no media coverage found, and no big X accounts have written about it (x-radar: 0 posts).

- Team: on LinkedIn the co-founder is Itamar Biran, a former Israeli Olympic alpine skier; no funding news.

- Copycats: none spotted yet. BetSlip Live is a parallel product in the US market, not a copycat.

- Verdict: **still little known** . Its growth depends on a fan pool outsiders can't replicate, so even if others see it, it's hard to copy, unless it's an African sports media player with similar big accounts (like SportyBet's own socials or national football accounts).

### 6. Why it took off

- **The traffic is its own** : millions of FB followers plus hundreds to thousands of score posts a day, each with a download link, so acquisition cost is near zero. It holds a steady top-140 spot on the South Africa SPORTS Top Free chart, which fits its fan base (mostly South Africa).

- **The pain is real and daily** : African accumulator bettors habitually share and copy codes in groups and comment sections, and people following a code can't see the Open Bets in the betting account, so they have to calculate it themselves against the score app. MatchCorner shows per-leg counts directly, like "9 corner on this leg hit 6/9".

- **Positioned as not gambling** : "Tracking and information only", no bets placed, no money handled, so it can be listed as a sports app across both stores while still funneling traffic to bookmakers.

- **Low barrier** : no sign-up, paste and use, optimized for low-bandwidth networks, suited to African Android users.

### 7. Differentiation

The differentiation has two layers: ① It tracks public booking codes rather than your own account, so people copying bets can use it too, across multiple books like SportyBet / Betway / bet9ja / Hollywoodbets; ② each leg is counted live (corners, cards, shots on target, throw-ins, and 250 other markets), not just showing the score. That angle is genuinely new. But the install curve's shape (a steady few hundred a day, with peaks tied to posting campaigns) suggests **it's mainly distribution-driven** . Whether the product's novelty makes the traffic it brings convert and stick is still unproven. There's no organic spread yet (no ratings, reviews, or UGC evidence).

### 8. What to borrow

- If you have a vertical media account, build a tool app that people open for every match, turn content traffic into a push channel, then layer on affiliate commissions. That sticks much better than just dropping links in posts.

- Look for public identifiers users already share to track (the idea behind booking codes, lottery numbers, tracking numbers, flight numbers). No account authorization needed, so cold start is simple.

- A web version doing half the job (decoding but not settlement) keeps the retention features locked inside the app.

- The US BetSlip Live shows the format works in other markets too. Conversely, bringing this model to East Africa (Betika / SportPesa), Ghana, and Kenya, where code culture is strong, is still empty.

### 9. Uncertain

- How much of the installs are organic versus paid, and whether it runs Meta ads: unverified.

- Retention, DAU, affiliate revenue: completely unknown. Play has zero ratings, which is odd (maybe they don't prompt for ratings, or active users are few).

- How booking codes are parsed (calling bookmakers' public endpoints), where the live event data comes from, and compliance: unverified. If a bookmaker changes its endpoints, it could break.

- 2.7M fans vs 3.5M fans, the two self-reported figures don't match; actual FB reach unverified.

- What campaign drove the peak of roughly 1,500/day in mid-October: unverified.
