38k installs a day, and one screenshot gave it away: Melozi, the AI songwriting app from a Vietnamese studio
What it is An AI songwriting app that turns a single sentence, lyrics, or an image on your phone into a song with vocals. It makes money from ads plus in-app purchases.
Why it blew up Suno turned AI song-writing into a mass-market need. It stuffed keywords into its package name to catch search traffic, then bought installs in batches (Oct 4, 38K installs in one day). It climbed the charts in cheap markets like Nigeria to build up a 4.5-point rating, then switched to US and UK conversions.
CHow you could play it Don't build yet another generic AI songwriting app. Studios already buying installs could target specific use cases like birthday songs, name songs, or niche regional genres, offer one free generation before the paywall, and build ratings in cheap countries before moving to the US and UK.

Melozi is a Google Play app that turns a one-line prompt into a song with vocals. It launched in Aug 27 and has racked up 630k installs in just over two months. It has no proprietary model and no feature rivals don't already have. It took off because Suno had already made AI songwriting a hot need, and then a small Vietnamese studio played the standard playbook: stuffed the package name with keywords, bought cheap installs from low-cost countries, then traded ratings and chart rank for US and European traffic. Below: how it grew, where the money comes from, how many lookalikes launched the same month, and whether you should follow it.
The day of Oct 4
Growth since then has come in steps: 10-09 jumped to 180k, then 10-13 to 10-15 added 120k over three days, and 10-21 added another 38k in one day. The days in between are nearly flat, sometimes only a few hundred a day. Organic word of mouth doesn't grow like this. This shape looks most like ad spend in batches: a budget goes out, installs spike, then it flattens when spend stops.
Searching "melozi" on TikTok turns up a coffee capsule of the same name and a few personal accounts, but not a single video about this app. On X, there hasn't been a post in nearly 60 days. Media coverage is limited to auto-generated listing pages on APK download sites. Then in Oct 14, someone left a one-star review on Google Play:
"It can't make the ads from the video." — Google Play, 10-14
Oct 15 another one: "TikTok works way better, this thing is trash, don't trust the other reviews. Opening it hits you with ads, every tap pops one up, you can't even get past the settings page." It also has a separate Facebook page, "Melozi: AI Music Maker." I couldn't find the ad creatives themselves, so "mostly paid acquisition" is an inference, held up by the stepped revenue curve, the FB page, and these reviews.
Who is behind it
The developer is Mee Game Inc. The store contact is a personal Gmail under a Vietnamese name, the website is a blogspot blog, and the privacy policy is on Google Docs. The IPTV player under the same account points its website to Miranda Global, a Vietnamese mobile app studio. In the third store screenshot, the girl with headphones and closed eyes has a line of small text on her T-shirt that reads like the Vietnamese "NỀN ĐƠN GIẢN" ("simple background"), looking like a layer label the designer forgot to delete (store screenshot, 11-06).
This account doesn't only do music. It has an AI interior design app with 737k installs, an IPTV player listed in Sep 17 that had 209k by 11-06, plus AI image generation, an AI companion, and a camera app. Together these apps have roughly 1.7M installs (Google Play, 11-06). The approach is to run several trending AI tools under one account and put more spend behind whichever one shows a positive return. Melozi is one of the ones that worked.
What it sells and how it collects money
The store page feature list: write a line of description, paste lyrics, or upload an image, then choose language, instrumental or vocals, male / female / choir voice, and studio or live version, and it generates a song. It also offers "AI cover", which re-sings a song from your phone in an AI voice. The screenshots carry the large text "ONE IDEA, ENDLESS MUSIC" and "TURN WORDS INTO SONGS". These features exist across similar apps. Image-to-song is the only one that could count as a selling point, but 10-19 someone wrote, "I wanted it to make a music video using the image I gave, and it didn't use the picture at all, and the song was a mess of random vocals."
Money comes in two streams: interstitial ads, plus in-app purchases of $0.99–$20.99 (listed on Google Play). Nearly all the negative reviews attack these two things:
"If I could give zero stars I would. No free trial, you can't test it first, you just have to pay?" (Google Play, 10-26)
"I finally got through ten million ads to make a song, and then the app crashed." (Google Play, 10-26)
"A mess, too much stuff, so many ads you can't even find the page." (Google Play, 10-31)
This is the most common monetization model for tool-app studios: users install, watch ads first, then pay a one-off fee to generate. It profits from the impulse-payment moment and doesn't rely on users sticking around. It has never charted in any country's top grossing list, so from the outside, you can't tell whether the volume actually paid back.
Where users come from
| Source | Evidence | How sure are we? |
|---|---|---|
| Paid ads (likely Meta video ads) | Stepped volume increases, a standalone FB page, and reviews mentioning "like in the video" | Inferred, no creatives seen |
| Store search | Package name is aimusic.aisong.musicmaker.generator, title "AI Song, Music Maker", short description "AI music generator and song maker", covering several head keywords at once. | Certain |
| Cheap-country base | Its best rank was in Nigeria: #7 in the Music Free chart and #165 overall in Apps (11-01). | Certain |
| The app prompts users for a good review | 4.51 stars from 5,804 ratings, with a large share of the 5-star reviews being one or two words like "good", "wow", "best", "Rota GJ". | Inferred |
| TikTok, X, media | None | Confirmed absent |
The Nigeria step is worth a closer look. Ad costs are low in cheap countries, so it can quickly build thousands of five-star reviews and chart positions. Once the rating reaches 4.5, the store page converts well in the US and UK. In Oct 31 it reached #49 in the US Music Free chart, while also charting in 23 countries' music charts. That was its best day.
Then it declined. 11-06 it dropped to #85 in the US, and it was charting in 14 countries. Daily new ratings went from 10-30–11-02 down to 210–260, and after 11-03 they fell to 60–106. Installs are still rising (+148k in the last 7 days), but the jumps of tens of thousands per day around 11-03 also show up on the same days in several unrelated apps. That looks more like Google refreshing its numbers in bulk than real growth, so don't take them at face value. Looking at the averages, it's slowing down, and it's probably cutting its budget (inferred).
Who it's competing with
This category is crowded. On Google Play alone, there are dozens of apps with "AI" plus "song" or "music" in the title that are on music charts:
| Product | Launched | Installs (11-06) | Compared with Melozi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suno | 2024-12 | 50.4M, +750k in 7 days, #2 in the US Music Free chart | The origin of the category, with its own model and brand |
| Donna AI Song (Turkey) | 2024-04 | 13.6M | An established wrapper, #8 in the Mexico Music Top Grossing chart, monetizing better than Melozi |
| Beatron | 2025-11 | 5.26M | Same playbook, entered a year later, reached 5M in one year |
| Tyvix(DQL TechLab) | 2026-08-13 | 623k, +98k in 7 days | Twin: listed two weeks earlier, similar volume, same template |
| Sutunes | 2026-07-21 | 358k | Same batch, already in the India Music Top Grossing chart |
| MelodyX | 2026-07-23 | 235k | Same batch, one tier smaller |
| Rymo, Tuni, JGGL | 2026-06 | 15–230k | Same batch, pushing into "AI music video" |
Counting only apps listed since 2026 June, there are a dozen or so, and Melozi is just the fastest of them, and only slightly: Tyvix was listed two weeks earlier and is at 623k, nearly matching it. That suggests it didn't win on product. It won on a pipeline everyone is using, and it just executed a bit better.
If it were you
C: You can learn from its playbook, but don't build another AI songwriting app like it. Above this category sits Suno with 50M installs. In the middle are a dozen or so established wrappers at several million each, and underneath, a new batch appears every month. Melozi itself peaked for only about a week. Its main value is showing how studios in Vietnam and Turkey run their operations, not signaling that there's open space here.
Who it's for: Small studios already buying installs for tool apps, with existing monetization SDKs and ad accounts, who can test "AI songwriting" as one more app and drop it if a few thousand dollars don't produce a positive return.
Who it's not for: Indie developers who have never run paid ads and want to grow through organic store traffic or social content. Organic traffic for this kind of app depends on head-term searches, and those are already split among dozens of packages. You also have no model of your own, so you can't build songs much better than theirs.
How to do it (if you must enter): Don't build general songwriting. Pick a specific scenario they haven't seriously covered: birthday songs, wedding songs, baby-name songs, team cheer songs, or local music styles in a particular language (Swahili, Hausa, Indonesian songs; test first how well large models sing them). For generation, use a commercially licensed API (ElevenLabs, MiniMax, and similar), not an unofficial Suno endpoint, which could be shut down at any time. Offer a free generation before charging. Half the negative reviews were "paid before trying" and "too many ads to use," so doing the opposite is your differentiator.
How to acquire users: Follow the studios' order, but swap in your scenario keywords. Fill the package name and title with long-tail terms like "birthday song maker," and first run Meta short-video ads in cheap countries like Nigeria, India, and the Philippines to build reviews. Once the rating is above 4.5, move to the US and UK. Creatives should be screen recordings of "type one sentence, get a song with your name in it in 30 seconds," one per scenario.
When to start: Gift-type songs sell best before holidays. It's too late for Christmas. If you really want to test, validate creatives one month before Valentine's Day, 14 Feb 2027.
What would show I've misread this: ① If Melozi or Tyvix reached the music Top Grossing chart of any major country before December, these wrappers monetize better than they look, and following them is still worthwhile. ② If in November it returns to 20+ charting countries and the US returns to the top 50, the studio is adding budget and the return is positive. ③ Conversely, if Suno loosens its free quota in more countries, these wrappers' ad costs will become harder to recover, and even a C grade would be generous.

Melozi: AI Song, Music Maker (Google Play): why it took off
- Package name: com.melozi.aimusic.aisong.musicmaker.generator
- Developer: Mee Game Inc (looks like a Vietnamese tools-app studio, evidence in section 4)
- Store launch: 2026-08-27; version 1.0.5,2026-10-28 update (googleplay library app / app_snap)
- Monetization: contains ads + in-app purchases $0.99–$20.99 (googleplay library; store page says "Contains ads · In-app purchases")
- Research date: 2026-11-06
Bottom line
There is no product breakthrough. This is a "Suno wrapper" from a Vietnamese tools-app studio, built from a ready-made template: AI text-to-song, lyrics-to-song, image-to-song, plus AI cover. Package name and title are stuffed with keywords. They buy installs in cheap traffic markets like Nigeria alongside the US and Europe, then catch organic volume through store search and category charts, with ads plus subscriptions for monetization. It took off because demand for the "AI songwriting" category was already educated by Suno, and the playbook is studio assembly-line, not differentiation. Tyvix, Sutunes and MelodyX, which launched around the same time on the same template, reached similar scale, showing that what can be copied is the playbook, not this one product.
1. Data: how big it is and how it grew
- Cumulative installs 632,420, +148,130 in the last 7 days (googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06). Over the 8 days from 10-29 to 11-06, it went from 484,290 to 632,420, averaging about 18.5k per day.
- Curve since launch (googleplay library app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimates): 9-25 only 18.5k installs; by end of September about 1.3k–2.6k per day; from 10-01 to 10-04 volume suddenly surged (10-04 single day about 38k), reaching 106k cumulative; 10-09 to 180k, 10-15 to 310k, 10-27 to 480k. Growth comes in steps, not a smooth climb, consistent with buying ads in batches.
- Note: single-day jumps for 10-31, 11-03 and 11-05 in our library also appear on the same day for the same developer's IPTV app, and for unrelated Tyvix, Sutunes and MelodyX. This is caused by Google batch-refreshing install counts, so don't trust single-day numbers; look at averages.
- Rating count: 5,804,4.51 ratings; star distribution 5 stars 4,480, 4 stars 711, 3 stars 100, 2 stars 50, 1 stars 431 (app_snap). New ratings per day went from 10-30 to 11-02 at about 210–260,11-03, then fell to 60–106.
- Charts: only charted in the MUSIC_AND_AUDIO free category chart, never in the Top Grossing chart. Best US rank was #49 (10-31), then slid to 85–105; best Nigeria rank #7; another 11-01 Nigeria overall chart #165. Countries charted fell from 10-31 of 23 to 11-06 of 14 (chart_rank). The peak came around 10-31, and it's sliding this week.
2. Competitors: who else is doing the same thing
"Writing a song with vocals on your phone using AI" is a crowded category. In the googleplay library, dozens of charted apps have both AI and song/music in the title:
| Product | Channel | Launched | Scale (googleplay library 11-06) | How Melozi differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suno - AI Music & Songs Maker | Android / iOS / web | 2024-12-03(Android) | 50.4M installs, +750k in 7 days, #2 in the US Music Free chart | The category definer with its own model; the brand and audio quality are its own. Apps like Melozi mostly call similar models or third-party APIs (unverified) |
| Donna AI Song & Music Maker (Turkey, MOBIVERSITE) | Android | 2024-04 | 13.6M, 7 days +176k | Long-running wrapper leader, ranked on the Top Grossing chart (#8 in Mexico music grossing), monetization more mature than Melozi |
| Mureka (Kunlun Tiangong / Skywork) | Android / web | 2024-10 | 6.67M | Big-company in-house models |
| AI Song Generator - Jukebox (Turkey, TWOWISE) | Android | 2024-10 | 5.67M | Similar wrapper, mainly subscriptions |
| AI Music & Song Generator(One Music Player) | Android | 2024-06 | 5.41M, 7 days +200k | Similar wrapper, #13 on the India music Top Grossing chart |
| Beatron - AI Music Maker | Android | 2025-11-28 | 5.26M, 7 days +178k | Entered a year later and still reached 5M, same playbook, running faster |
| AI Hit Music Maker(Goldlab Pro) | Android | 2023-12 | 5.55M, 7 days +430k | Peers |
| Soniva / MusicLab / Music AI MV / Sondo / Rythmix | Android | 2024–2025 | 2.4M–7.35M each | Most added "AI MV / music video" and extended toward video |
| Tyvix - AI Song Generator(DQL TechLab) | Android | 2026-08-13 | 623k, +98k in 7 days | Almost Melozi's twin: launched around the same time, same scale, same template |
| Sutunes: AI Music & Song Maker | Android | 2026-07-21 | 358k | Same time and template, already charted on Top Grossing (#30 in India music grossing) |
| MelodyX: AI Music Maker Song | Android | 2026-07-23 | 235k | Same time and template, one tier smaller |
| MusicGPT | Android / web | 2026-02 | 597k | Web brand extended to an app |
| ElevenLabs, Udio (web) and others | Web / App | — | — | Model companies aimed at creators, not in the same traffic pool |
Conclusion: Melozi has no unique feature. Text-to-song, lyrics-to-song, male/female/choir voice choices, studio/live styles, and AI cover are the standard feature list for this kind of app. The image-to-song feature (upload an image to generate a song) is the only thing that comes close to a selling point, but a 1-star review says "It didn't even use the image I gave it" (review library, ng, 2026-10-19).
3. Growth tactics: where users come from
- Paid acquisition (very likely the main channel, strong circumstantial evidence, no direct creative seen)
- There is a dedicated Facebook page "Melozi: AI Music Maker" (facebook.com/61596140036182, Jina search result). Tool apps like this usually open an FB page to run Meta ads.
- Reviews mention ad videos: "it doesn't make ads like the video shows"; "Tik Tok is way better than this complete garbage, don't believe the other reviews" (review library, 2026-10). Some users clearly came from video ads.
- The install curve is stepped scaling (10-01~04, 10-08~09, 10-13~15, 10-21), and no organic content can explain these surges (see item 3).
- Our metaads / tiktokads / googleads libraries cannot find it. It is not on our tracking list, so not finding it doesn't mean it isn't advertising.
- Store search / ASO (confirmed): package name
aimusic.aisong.musicmaker.generator, title "AI Song, Music Maker", short description "AI music generator and song maker to create rhythm, songs from your text, image", covering the big terms AI song / music maker / AI music generator. Its #50–100 category ranking also keeps a steady stream of organic installs. - TikTok / X organic content: none. TikHub searches for "melozi" and "melozi ai" return only a same-named coffee capsule and personal accounts, with no posts about this app; x-radar shows 0 posts in the last 60 days. Media coverage is limited to automatic indexing by APK sites like Softonic, CNET Download, FileHippo, Uptodown and APKPure.
- Cheap traffic base (confirmed): best ranks are in Nigeria (music free chart #7, overall chart #165), and the review sample also comes entirely from the Nigeria store. Many 5-star short reviews like "very good app", "wow", "best", "Rota GJ" look like rating prompts collected inside the app, plus low-cost country traffic. They are used to hold the rating at 4.5, then the 4.5 rating is used to convert US and European store traffic.
- Studio assembly line (confirmed): the same developer account also has AI Home Design (737k), IPTV Video Player (launched 2026-09-17, 209k, +152k in 7 days), Patrix AI Art (125k), plus Heartmate AI Companion, LumiCam and others (appbrain / chrome-stats search results). AppBrain says it has been "active since 2025, about 4 million installs". The method is to batch-launch hot AI tool apps from one account, then add budget to whichever one gets positive ROI.
4. Who the developer is
- The developer email is a personal Gmail (kimnhuttruong206@…, a Vietnamese name), the website is meegameinc.blogspot.com, and the privacy policy sits on Google Docs (googleplay library app).
- The IPTV app under the same account points to mirandaglobal.vn, a Vietnamese "Mobile Apps Studio" (official site in Vietnamese). When Jina searched "Mee Game Inc Vietnam", the store pages also showed Vietnam links. Judgment: a small Vietnamese studio, probably publishing through borrowed or sock-puppet accounts. Vietnam is a hub for wrapper tool apps buying paid installs on Google Play.
- Revenue is not public: no one has posted it, no media has reported it, and there is no TrustMRR record.
5. Why users come and why they pay
- Why now: Suno has already made "one sentence, a complete song with vocals" a mainstream category (Suno Android 50M installs, #2 on the US music chart). Many people search "AI song", and the long-tail and ad traffic beyond Suno is being split by these wrapper apps.
- Why people pay: generation consumes credits, in-app purchases $0.99–$20.99, and interstitial ads run at the same time. Negative reviews focus on three points: too many ads ("can't even navigate it with all the ads"), paying with no free trial ("No free trial … yet you expect people to pay"), and poor generation quality. This is a typical mix of ads plus a hard paywall, relying on impulse one-time payments to recover costs, not on retention.
- Retention: no data. Judging from the content of negative reviews and the slowing rating growth, long-term retention is likely weak (unverified).
6. Differentiation
Essentially none. Its feature list matches more than a dozen similar apps, and it has no model of its own. What is different is only execution: a new package, a new brand, keywords packed in, paid installs in Nigeria plus the US and Europe at once, and rating maintenance. It took off through paid acquisition and ASO execution, not differentiation. Tyvix (launched 8-13, 620k) is nearly identical and is the evidence.
7. Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: few people know about it yet. There is no media coverage, no X discussion and no TikTok content, only automatic APK-site indexing. But the category itself is extremely crowded.
- Copycats: hard to say it copied anyone. Tyvix, Sutunes and MelodyX, which launched around the same time on the same template, were in the same wave and all copied the Suno playbook.
8. What others can borrow
- Studio playbook: one developer account batch-launches hot AI tool apps, stuffs keywords into package names and titles, first builds ratings and chart positions in low-cost countries, then adds US and European volume, monetizes with ads plus in-app purchases, and drops any app whose ROI doesn't work.
- Category choice: follow a demand already educated by a large model company (Suno for AI songwriting) and capture its long-tail traffic in store search and ads.
9. Uncertain
- Creatives, target countries and spend have not been directly observed (none of the three ad libraries track it). "Paid acquisition is the main channel" is inferred from the stepped curve, the FB page and the reviews.
- Which underlying model or API it uses is unknown (unofficial Suno API, MiniMax, Mureka, etc.).
- Revenue: it never entered the Top Grossing chart, so whether ROI is positive can't be judged. After 11-03, rating growth dropped about 70%, rankings in the US / UK / German charts slid, and countries charted fell from 23 to 14, which may mean spend is being cut.
- The relationship between Mee Game Inc and Miranda Global (same team or borrowed accounts) is unverified.
