Two weeks live, zero ratings, and it jumped to #12 on Saudi's social charts: Fawoo is the 5th app from a live-streaming dating company
What it is: a video live-streaming dating app. A host brings two users into a "three-person room" to chat, and users send gifts to tip.
Why it took off: the product didn't take off on its own. The parent company's host agencies, gift backend, and paid acquisition from its mothership Chatta were reused. The new app was targeted at the Gulf and at Western markets and climbed a low-barrier social category chart.
DHow you could follow this: small teams shouldn't copy it directly. What's worth learning is the matrix approach of running several apps off one backend. If you want to try it, take the "host brings two or three people together" format and use it for small rooms built around language practice or hobby topics, and make money from subscriptions instead of gifts.

Fawoo is a video live-streaming dating app on Google Play, launched in Oct 22, built around "three-person live rooms". By Nov 5 it had 13,314 installs total and zero ratings, yet it was on the free social charts in 12 countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK, and Canada. It didn't break out on its own. Behind it is the Singapore company Metaz, which already has a mothership app with 13.8M installs that ranks in the top 11 of grossing charts in the Middle East and Malaysia. Fawoo is just a new shell on the same machine. The business is easy to understand, but small teams can't replicate it.
A website that went up a week before the app launched
The fawoo-chat.com page is dated Oct 15, a week before the app was listed. The homepage has three short paragraphs. The headline reads "Redefining Social: Where Every Conversation Matters", and the second paragraph is the most direct:
Professional hosts create a safe space for emotional sharing, effectively curing modern social loneliness.
The third section says it's going to "say goodbye to toxic show-culture" and build "sincere conversation and long-term friendship." The store listing has the same tone: a three-person live room with one host who throws out topics and keeps the talk going, plus a community feed for daily posts outside the rooms. The last line of the listing reads "Watch live streams, Meet nes people" — "new" was typoed as "nes," and it wasn't fixed after the October 26 update.
"Professional hosts" and "companionship" are the jargon of this category: users come in to chat with hosts who take a revenue cut, and the chat gets rewarded with gifts. Fawoo's in-app purchases run from $0.69 to $284.99 per item (Google Play, 11-06), which are coin packs.
The numbers: few installs, but a high chart rank
| Date | Total installs | New |
|---|---|---|
| 11-01 | 108 | 108 |
| 11-03 | 7,501 | 7,393 |
| 11-05 | 13,314 | 5,813 |
(Google Play refreshes install counts every two days, so the new installs on the in-between day show as 0)
- About 3,000 installs a day on average, arriving evenly (third-party AppstoreSpy estimates 11-04 and 11-05 at 2,906 each).
- 13k installs, 0 ratings, 0 reviews. A social app that grew by word of mouth usually has dozens to hundreds of ratings at this scale. The volume is most likely bought-in new users (inference).
- Its rank on the social Top Free charts keeps climbing (Google Play, 11-06 versus launch): Saudi Arabia 26 → 12, UK 65 → 27, Canada 50 → 30, Italy 52 → 31, Australia 140 → 38, Germany 134 → 50; the UAE has stayed at 14–19. 11-06 has also made the overall charts in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, at #165 and #166.
- It hasn't charted on any grossing chart yet, and there's no iOS version.
Charting in 12 countries at once with only 13k global installs means the bar for the social Top Free charts in these countries is low: a few hundred new installs a day can get you into the top 30. Charting isn't the same as taking off, but it does bring a bit of store exposure.
Who's behind it
The developer, METAZ TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., is a Singapore company registered in August 2022 (per Singapore's corporate registry). It has 5 apps on Google Play, all social, with the top in-app purchase tier at $284.99:
| App | Launched | Total installs | New in the last 7 days | Main charts (11-06) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chatta - Live Meet Friends | 2024-05 | 13.8M | 365k | Top Grossing: Malaysia 7, UAE 10, Saudi Arabia 11; charted on Top Grossing in 19 countries |
| Seeta – Conecta con Latinos | 2024-12 | 4.89M | 141k | US Top Grossing 72, Mexico 99 |
| MeetJoy - Social Chat | 2026-08 | 660k | 157k | Nigeria social Top Free 7, Philippines 10 |
| Ruyo - Live Chat Lounge | 2026-06 | 360k | 80k | Saudi Arabia social Top Free 9 |
| Fawoo | 2026-10 | 13k | 13k | Saudi Arabia social Top Free 12 |
In Nov 6, three of the top 12 on Saudi Arabia's social Top Free chart were from this family: Ruyo at #9, Chatta at #11, Fawoo at #12.
This is the "matrix" approach common in social apps going global: one backend (coins, gifts, host payouts, agency splits) wears different names and formats, split by region. Chatta targets globally, Seeta targets Latin America, MeetJoy targets Nigeria and the Philippines, and Ruyo and Fawoo target the Gulf. If one package gets banned or fades, the core is unaffected.
The previous package, MeetJoy, followed the same path: about 7,000 installs in August, around 110k in early October, and 6 660k in Nov (AppstoreSpy estimates). At that pace, it wouldn't be surprising for Fawoo to reach several hundred thousand installs a month from now (inference).
Does the parent make money? Third-party Peekly estimates Chatta's monthly revenue at about $100k–115k, unverified. Given its grossing ranks of #7 in Malaysia and #10 in the UAE, that figure may be low.
Where users come from: paying on both sides
These apps have two sides: paying viewers (mostly men) and hosts who take a cut. Their sources are completely different.
Hosts come from recruitment ads promising "make money here." The evidence is all on the parent Chatta; Fawoo's own hasn't turned up yet:
- chattaapp.com, signed "APEX CHATTA OFFICIAL PARTNERS," recruiting hosts and agents in Pakistan: "Earn $2 a day as a host, withdraw anytime once you reach $10, and get rewards for inviting friends and sub-agents."
- The TikTok account @chatta.app0 posted in Spanish "ESTAMOS RECLUTANDO MUJERES QUE QUIERAN MONETIZAR" (we're recruiting women who want to monetize), 46k views (2026-01); another account posted "Join the overseas Indian community," with 55k views.
- Nigerian side-hustle creator Jessica Tolu posted "A 'NEW LIVESTREAM APP' THAT PAYS (Chatta Livestream Review)" on YouTube, 16.9k views; there's also a Hindi tutorial on "how to get a Chatta agent role."
The people paying are probably bought (inference).Fawoo's charted 12 countries are almost all high-paying markets: the Gulf, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy. Not one is a streamer-supply country. 0 Ratings and rank climbing at an even pace looks like paid acquisition. Peekly shows Chatta running 45 Meta ads (third-party, unverified). Whether Fawoo itself runs ads, and where, I couldn't find outside.
Other channels are basically zero. Searching fawoo, chatta, and metaz on X over 30 days returns 0 posts each; searching fawoo on TikTok turns up only same-named personal accounts; there's no press coverage and no Reddit discussion.
Why anyone would pay: this is gift-tipping companion livestreaming. A TMTPost roundup, "2025 overseas social products: a big year," says that in the Middle East and Spanish-speaking markets, "host supply is the most valuable asset," and some platforms give hosts more than 100% of revenue, with part of what hosts earn flowing back into the platform rather than being withdrawn.
Is the "three-person room" why it's taking off?
No.
The three-person room is the only real product difference it can name: somewhere between a single-host show like Bigo or Tango and a random video chat like Chamet or Olive 1v1, one host sits with two people at once, feeling more like a friends' gathering than a show. It's more efficient for hosts, and may be friendlier to Google Play review and to users' comfort thresholds (inference).
But it's been live for two weeks with zero reviews, and there's no sign anyone came for this mechanic. The ranking comes from the company's paid acquisition and its existing host network. The three-person room looks more like the matrix's reason to add a new package: change the small mechanic, test conversion, and scale if it works.
Who it's competing with
Live social for the Middle East and Western markets has been a long-running track for Chinese going-global teams for seven or eight years:
| Product | Scale (Google Play installs) | How it differs from Fawoo |
|---|---|---|
| Bigo Live | 848M | Single-host show; top 8 on social Top Free in the UK and Saudi Arabia |
| Tango | 387M | Single-host tipping |
| Olive / Joi / OmeTV | 12M–250M | 1v1 random video, with no host or community |
| SUGO / Yaahlan / Hala / Toki | 3.6M–81M | Middle East multi-mic voice rooms, not video |
| Poppo Live / SuperLive | each about 48M | Single-host or 1v1 video; Saudi Top Free ranks 16, 17 |
| WhoNow / JoyU / Timo Lite | 150k–730k | A similar package launched in 2026, also pushing on the Saudi charts |
Fawoo isn't the first, and it's far from the biggest. It's just one more new skin in this category. WhoNow, JoyU, and Timo Lite, all competing on the Saudi charts at the same time, run the same playbook.
What's still unclear
- Whether Fawoo runs ads, and on which platforms.
- Retention and payment rates for the three-person room: with no reviews and no grossing chart entry, that can't be seen yet.
- Who is behind Metaz. The entity is Singapore-based; the team is most likely a Chinese going-global team (inference). No public reporting beyond the corporate registry has turned up.
- Chatta's actual revenue: third-party estimates are about $100k/month, which doesn't quite match its grossing ranks.
If it were you
Verdict: Watch it, don't copy it. Fawoo's rise depends on an already-working parent: ready-made gift and payout backends, host agencies covering Pakistan, India, Nigeria, and Latin America, and a budget willing to buy installs in the Gulf and the West. A new team has none of these three, and the three-person format itself hasn't been proven.
Who it suits: going-global teams that already have a live or voice-room backend, host-agency relationships, and the ability to keep spending on acquisition in the Middle East or the West. For them, the thing worth learning is "one backend, many packages, split by region and format," and the three-person room can serve as a test slot inside their own matrix.
Who it doesn't suit: indie developers and small teams with no host supply. Live social is a two-sided market: without hosts, users arrive to empty rooms; bought-in paying users don't stick, and the money burns. There's also the Google Play review risk for this category to factor in.
If you must build something: don't build "yet another live social app." Take the piece it hasn't covered: for example, small rooms where one host helps two or three people practice speaking and chat about shared interests, charging by subscription or per session rather than relying on gift tips. Recruit hosts from language teachers and interest communities, and acquire users through TikTok content like "chatting with strangers in English" rather than paid ads. That's already a different business. Fawoo only shows that the three-person format can get listed, not that anyone will pay for it.
When to wait: there's no rush. This track won't close because of Fawoo, and it won't open because of it either.
What would mean you read it wrong: if in a month or two Fawoo breaks into the top 50 of a social grossing chart in the Gulf or the UK without signs of heavy paid acquisition, and reviews start including people saying "I just like the three-person room," that would mean the mechanic itself has pull and deserves another look.

Why Fawoo - Live Streams & Chat (com.metaztech.fawoo) is getting traction
Channel: Google Play | Developer: METAZ TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD. (Singapore, UEN 202228001N, registered 2022-08) | First release 2026-10-22,10-26 update | Research day 2026-11-06
Bottom line
Fawoo isn't a new product that grew on its own. It's the 5th pack from Metaz, a Chinese-run going-global "live social" matrix company. The mothership Chatta (13.8M installs, top 11 in the Saudi, Malaysian and UAE top-grossing charts) already proved out host supply, the agency system, paid acquisition and monetization. Fawoo just wraps the same engine in a "three-person live room" shell and pushes it into high-paying markets (Saudi, UAE, UK, Canada, Italy, Australia, Germany). Its chart positions come from company-funded acquisition, not from the product itself.
1. Data (source: our googleplay database, 2026-11-06)
| Date | Total installs | New today |
|---|---|---|
| 10-31 | 0 (first captured from the listing page) | – |
| 11-01 | 108 | 108 |
| 11-03 | 7,501 | 7,393 |
| 11-05 | 13,314 | 5,813 |
| 11-06 | 13,314 | 0 (Play refreshes only every two days) |
- Cumulative 13,314 in two weeks. The two jumps average about 3,000/day (AppstoreSpy estimates 11-04 and 11-05 at 2,906 each).
- At 13k installs with 0 ratings and 0 reviews (app_snap.ratings is empty, and nothing in the review database). Organic social apps at this scale usually have dozens to hundreds of ratings, so this batch of users is most likely paid, not word of mouth.
- Social free chart rank keeps climbing daily (chart_rank):
- Saudi Arabia 26 → 12; UAE holding at 14–19
- UK 65 → 27, Canada 50 → 30, Italy 52 → 31, Germany 134 → 50
- Australia 140 → 38, Malaysia 108 → 33
- South Africa and South Korea newly charted at 11-05/06
- 11-06 entered the overall top charts in Saudi Arabia and the UAE (ranks 165 and 166)
- Charted in 12 countries at once, yet only 13k total installs worldwide. That means the category charts have a very low bar: a few hundred new installs a day gets you into the top 30.
- In-app purchases range from $0.69 to $284.99, identical to the top tiers of the mothership Chatta ($0.20–$284.99), MeetJoy and Ruyo ($0.49–$284.99). Almost certainly the same coin and gift system. Not yet on any top-grossing chart.
- Fawoo can't be found on the App Store (iTunes search returns nothing in the sa storefront). Metaz's Apple developer page id1743104328 exists, but the lookup doesn't return any live app.
2. Why it took off
2.1 is a "live social" machine that already works
Metaz has 5 apps in our database, all SOCIAL category, with the same IAP structure (googleplay app_profile / app_day, 11-06):
| App | Launched | Total installs | New in the last 7 days | Major charts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chatta - Live Meet Friends | 2024-05 | 13,813,355 | 365,175 | Top grossing: Malaysia 7, UAE 10, Saudi Arabia 11, Nigeria 16, Canada 18; charted top grossing in 19 countries |
| Seeta – Conecta con Latinos(com.mztech) | 2024-12 | 4,892,990 | 141,078 | US top grossing 72, Mexico 99, Brazil 113 |
| MeetJoy - Social Chat | 2026-08-04 | 662,232 | 156,704 | Nigeria social free 7, Philippines 10; Nigeria top grossing 33 |
| Ruyo - Live Chat Lounge | 2026-06-04 | 362,456 | 79,867 | Saudi Arabia social free 9; UAE top grossing 88 |
| Fawoo | 2026-10-22 | 13,314 | 13,314 | Saudi Arabia social Top Free 12 |
- 11-06 Saudi social free chart's top 12 include 3 Metaz packs: Ruyo 9, Chatta 11, Fawoo 12. This is the classic "shell pack / matrix" playbook.
- The company's previous pack, MeetJoy, followed the same path (AppstoreSpy estimates): 8-16 at 7k, 10-01 at 110k, 11-06 at 660k. At that pace, Fawoo reaching several hundred thousand installs within a month wouldn't be surprising.
- Third-party estimates put Chatta's monthly revenue at roughly $100k–115k (Peekly, unverified; given Chatta's top-grossing ranks in the Middle East and Malaysia, this may be low). The money has been proven on the mothership, and the new pack is a copy.
Where 2.2 users come from: paid on both sides
These apps have two user groups: paying male viewers, and hosts who take a revenue share. We have evidence for both:
- Host side runs on agencies and creator recruitment (confirmed, but the evidence is all on Chatta)
- chattaapp.com ("APEX CHATTA OFFICIAL PARTNERS") recruits Pakistani hosts and agents: "Hosts earn $2 a day, withdrawal at $10; invite sub-agents to earn rewards."
- TikTok @chatta.app0 "ESTAMOS RECLUTANDO MUJERES QUE QUIERAN MONETIZAR" (recruiting women who want to monetize), 46k views (2026-01); @chatta_app "Join the overseas Indian community", 55k views (2025-12). Data from TikHub.
- YouTube "A NEW LIVESTREAM APP THAT PAYS (Chatta Livestream Review)", 16.9k views (2025-12-29, Nigerian side-hustle creator Jessica Tolu); an Hindi video on "how to get agency for Chatta live"; the Facebook page chattaliveapp posts "Chatta Hosts" recruitment posts.
- MeetJoy surged into the top 10 social free charts in Nigeria and the Philippines. Both are typical host-supply countries, so MeetJoy may be handling part of host acquisition (speculation).
- Payer side relies on paid acquisition (inferred, with indirect evidence)
- Nearly all 12 countries where Fawoo charts are high-paying markets (Gulf, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy). None are host-supply countries.
- 13k installs, 0 ratings, rank climbing steadily day by day: this looks like paid acquisition.
- Peekly shows Chatta running 45 Meta ads (third-party, unverified).
- Our Meta, TikTok and Google ad libraries don't track any Metaz Pages or advertisers (out of scope), so we can neither confirm nor rule out Fawoo advertising.
- Other channels: essentially none
- On X (x-radar, 30 days), fawoo, chatta and metaz each have 0 posts.
- Searching TikTok for fawoo turns up only same-name personal accounts, no official account.
- The Facebook page "Fawoo Meet & Chat" has 113 followers and is categorized as a clothing store, with no visible link to this app.
- No press coverage, no Reddit or HN discussion.
Why 2.3 users are willing to pay
This is gift-tipping companion live streaming: paying male users send gifts to hosts, and hosts get a share from their agency. TechNode's "2025 going-global roundup: a big year for social apps" noted that in the Middle East and Spanish-speaking markets, "host supply is the most important asset." Some platforms pay hosts more than 100% of revenue, and once users are retained, part of what hosts earn is never withdrawn and flows back to the platform. Fawoo's website (fawoo-chat.com) also says plainly, "Professional hosts create a safe space for emotional sharing," selling companionship from professional hosts.
3. Competitors
| Product | Where | Launched | Scale (googleplay library 11-06) | How Fawoo differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chatta (same company) | Android/iOS | 2024-05 | 13.8M installs, top-grossing in Saudi Arabia 11 | Same system; Fawoo switches to a three-person room format and targets paying markets |
| Ruyo / MeetJoy / Seeta (same company) | Android | 2024-12 to 2026-08 | 360k–4.89M | Sister pack, each covering a different region or format |
| Bigo Live | Android/iOS | 2016 | 848M, top 8 in the UK and Saudi social free charts | Single-host showroom; Fawoo is a small three-person room with a host moderating topics |
| Tango | Android/iOS | 2010 | 387M | Same, single-host tipping |
| Poppo Live, SuperLive | Android/iOS | 2022 / 2020 | each about 48M | Single-host or 1v1 video; Saudi Top Free ranks 16, 17 |
| SUGO, Yaahlan, Hala, Toki | Android/iOS | 2019–2025 | 3.6M–81M | Middle East Duomai voice rooms; Fawoo is video, three-person rooms |
| Olive, Joi, OmeTV | Android/iOS | 2015–2020 | 12M–250M | 1v1 random video; Fawoo has hosts and a community feed |
| WhoNow, JoyU, Timo Lite | Android | 2026 | 150k–730k | A similar package launched in 2026, also pushing on the Saudi charts |
Bottom line: this category is crowded, and most of it is matrix packages from Chinese going-global teams. Fawoo is neither the first nor the biggest.
4. What's the differentiation, and is it why it broke out?
- The only product difference you can actually name is the "three-person live room": one host chats with two people about a topic, plus a daily-updates community. The official pitch is "say goodbye to toxic show-culture, build real conversation and lasting friendships."
- It sits between single-host show rooms (Bigo/Tango) and 1v1 video (Chamet/Olive). A three-person room lets one host serve two paying users at once, and it feels more like a "friends hanging out" than a "show." It may also be easier on Play's content review and user psychology (speculation).
- This is not why it ranked. When 11-06 came around, it had been live for only two weeks, with zero reviews. Nothing shows users came for this format. The ranking came from Metaz's paid acquisition and host-supply system; the new format just gives the matrix one more package and a reason to test a new angle.
5. How many people have seen it
- Fawoo itself: barely known. No media coverage, 0 posts on X, no TrustMRR revenue, only APK mirror sites index it.
- Parent ship Chatta: people in going-global and side-hustle circles talk about it (host recruitment videos, agent websites, and Peekly / AppMagic / Similarweb all track it), but there is no public revenue and no media piece on it.
- Copycats: I haven't found anyone specifically copying Fawoo. It is itself a copycat and matrix product in this category; WhoNow, JoyU, and Timo Lite, which charted in Saudi Arabia at the same time, use the same playbook.
6. What others can learn
- Matrix reuse: one backend (coins, gifts, guild payouts, in-app tiers of $0.x–$284.99) wears different names and formats, split by region: Chatta targets the world, Seeta targets Latin America, MeetJoy targets Nigeria and the Philippines, and Ruyo and Fawoo target the Gulf. If one package gets banned or decays, the core is unaffected.
- Separate acquisition on each side: hosts are recruited through guilds and creators ("come earn money here" on TikTok, YouTube, agent sites), at near-zero cost; payers are acquired through ads in high-spending regions.
- Using the low bar of small category charts: a few thousand installs a day can reach the top 30 social charts in 10 countries, and charting itself brings store exposure.
- New format as an experiment: test conversion with a small format change like the "three-person room," then scale up if it works.
7. Still unclear
- Whether Fawoo ran ads, and on which platforms: our ad library doesn't track it. Adding the Metaz-linked Page to the metaads watchlist would show more.
- Retention and payment rates for the "three-person room": no reviews or grossing ranks to read from yet.
- The team behind Metaz (likely a Chinese going-global team with a Singapore entity; no public reporting found beyond the company registry); whether com.metaz.kk (KnocKnock) is the same company is also unverified.
- Chatta's real revenue: Peekly estimates about $100k/month, which doesn't match its grossing rank; neither has been verified.
