# Test it for 1 euros, then 40 euros a month: Cognius is the app side of a web payment funnel

**What it is** Short psychology quizzes like attachment style and personality, with results turned into cards, plus an AI guide that remembers your history and chats with you. Billed weekly, monthly or quarterly.

**Why it took off** Behind it is a studio that mass-produces paid funnels: on the web, a 0.99-dollar quiz is advertised to pull people in, auto-converts to 39.99 dollars a month after 3 days, and payment bypasses the app stores. The app exists to retain these paying users, and installs rise and fall in waves with the ad spend.

**B** **How you could follow it** Follow the structure: a "web quiz funnel + an AI that remembers as retention". Start on the web, use short videos to advertise topics like attachment style, be transparent about pricing and cancellation, make the AI guide solid to support renewals, and ship the app later. Start with languages nobody is seriously serving yet, like Japanese and Korean.

Grade B: the structure is real and the tools are off the shelf, and the "attachment style + AI memory" combination isn't saturated yet, and nobody in the community is discussing it. But it's an ad-spend business, IQ funnels using the same template already abound, and the design of converting 0.99 to 39.99 brings heavy refunds, chargebacks and regulatory risk. It isn't for people who don't buy ads. Few people know about it yet

Cognius is a psychology self-test app on Google Play: short quizzes like attachment style and personality, results turned into cards, and an AI guide that remembers your history and chats with you. It launched in Sep 21, reached about 7,900 installs in a month and a half, and grew by over 2,800 in a week. But the app isn't the core of the business. The same brand runs a quiz payment funnel on the web: a 0.99-dollar test, auto-converted after 3 days to 39.99 dollars a month, with payment bypassing the app stores. The app's job is to keep the people who've paid. Below: how the machine works, who runs it, who it's competing with, and which part you'd want to follow if you did.

### A subscription you can't cancel

In Nov 2026 2, someone left a review for cognius.app on Trustpilot:

> "I followed the steps to cancel my subscription and got stuck halfway, again and again. I don't even know whether it's cancelled. Stuck on the last step. So annoying!"

Three days later, in Nov 5, another person was more direct:

> "You charged my card 1 euros, then took 40 euros from me, because no sane person pays that much for a silly psychology AI test."

On the same day, the same page had a five-star review: "Very accurate. It gets me! So fun!"

Cognius has 877 reviews on Trustpilot, averaging 3.4 stars (11-06). Trustpilot's own summary says most people find the test "simple, interesting and accurate", while many say "after the first payment I was put on a monthly subscription, the terms could be clearer". The top tags are: subscription, spam, cancellation, customer service, payment, fraud, refund. The reply to nearly every negative review is much the same: "The subscription terms were clearly displayed before purchase, and the subscription activates after 3 days."

In these reviews, people are mostly talking about an IQ test, not attachment style.

### One name, two products

Open cognius.app and the homepage pitches "cognitive fitness": 30+ exercises, 10 minutes a day, an AI coach, "100,000+ active users", plus a string of cognitive training research claims, ending with a "Start your cognitive fitness" button that goes to quiz.cognius.app/start-v3. That's a quiz flow built on FunnelFox (a commercial platform for web payment funnels), which opens by asking for your gender, then "discover your personality". The web cookie list has a dozen-plus "quiz flow version" variant markers, suggesting many A/B tests run at once. Two more subdomains, iq.cognius.app and plus.cognius.app, have the title "Questions about the charge from Cognius?"

Per the subscription terms (the version thinkitsascam.com 11-02 read): a $0.99 trial lasting 3 days, then $39.99/month, cancellable at least 24 hours in advance. Web purchases "may be sold and processed by Epic Growth LLC (Delaware, USA) as the seller," with payment via Stripe. In other words, money paid on the web skips the app stores and their 15–30% cut.

The app on Google Play is a different face. It's called "Cognius: Understand Yourself", formerly "Cognius: Attachment Style Quiz". The store page lists: 40+ tests, covering attachment styles (secure, anxious, avoidant, fearful-avoidant), personality, archetypes, inner child, self-esteem, people-pleasing, emotional intelligence, trauma responses, plus ADHD and autism trait self-checks. Results come "one card at a time", each with "that's me" or "not quite" buttons. Then there's a "guide that remembers you", by text or voice, that "remembers what you discovered, what you corrected, and what's still unfinished". There are daily insights, a half-minute mood check-in, a seven-facet "your map", and the lock screen and notifications don't show the quiz name or score. The app sells weekly, monthly and quarterly subscriptions at 4.99–29.99 dollars each. The iOS version, "Cognius: Know Yourself", launched in Sep 28, with a Spanish-language title too.

The web sells a "one-time test", but getting people to pay 39.99 dollars month after month needs something they open every day. The daily insights, mood check-ins and the remembering guide in the app are built for renewals. The web, Apple and Google payment channels share one account system (go.cognius.app), so people who paid on the web are probably being nudged to download the app (inference, not verified).

### How it grew

| Date | Google Play cumulative installs (AppstoreSpy estimate) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 10-13 | About 1,100 | In October, about 200 a day |
| 10-21 | About 2,700 | |
| 10-30 | About 5,000 | Late October, over 600 a day |
| 11-02 | About 7,000 | |
| 11-05 | About 7,900 | After 11-04, back to about 200 a day |

The curve jumps in waves, like ad budgets being turned up and down, not the smooth shape word of mouth produces (inference).

A few more telling numbers:

- **The rating rate is unusually high** . 11-06 has 176 ratings against about 7,900 installs, roughly 2.2%; a week earlier (10-31) it had 89. Of these, 142 are five-star and 10 one-star, but only 11 have written text. Most are bare star ratings, very much like the in-app Google rating prompt popping up at an emotional high point, such as after "that's me" (inference).

- **4 versions shipped in one week** . 10-31 is now 1.0.10,11-06 at 1.0.14.

- **Almost no chart presence** . It only charted once on the Netherlands' Health & Fitness Top Free chart, at #198 to #166, a very low bar for that chart. It never charted on any Top Grossing chart.

- **On iOS it's scattered across a dozen-plus stores** . It ranks #80–#200 on Top Free category charts in South Korea, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. US store: 64 ratings, 4.0 stars (11-06). The fastest-growing is the Korean store, at 11-03 4 ratings and 11-06 18. Korea already has a heavy MBTI and 'attachment style' test culture.

The web side came before the app. One Trustpilot reviewer said they'd been charged $39 for two months before noticing, with the trial dated 10-04. Another wrote, 'For a €1 IQ test I got locked into a €50/month subscription,' trial dated 10-10. This suggests the web funnel was taking payments by September at the latest, around the same time as the app launch or earlier (inferred).

Search 'Cognius' on X, TikTok, or in the press and you find nothing. The people who know it are mostly people it charged.

### Where the money comes from, and who's behind it

The money path is clear: ads drive people to a web quiz → $0.99 to see results → auto-renews at $3/month after 39.99 days unless canceled → the app makes the spend feel worthwhile and keeps people from canceling. Revenue isn't public, but 877 Trustpilot reviews in three weeks suggests the web volume isn't small (inferred).

This is run by a funnel studio, not a psychology app team:

- **Mindly Apps Ltd** , registered in Nicosia, Cyprus. It also runs **Woof Method** (dog training). Its terms list the same company and registration number, with the same 'a daily 10-minute plan' subscription funnel. The Cognius terms also mention a product called 'Ekko' that is still unclear.

- **Epic Growth LLC** , the payee on the web checkout, also takes payments for **Innerly** (tryinnerly.com, another IQ test funnel). acisiq.com 10-06 broke down Innerly's pricing: the same $0.99 for 3 days, then $39.99/month, the same 'AI coach,' and the homepage the same '100,000+ active users.' Same payee, same pricing, same template: likely one growth team launching brands in bulk (inferred).

The same brand swaps hooks across funnels: IQ, cognitive training, personality, attachment style, one hook per subdomain, all feeding one shared app. The product is replaceable. The funnel and the ad spend are the asset.

Which ad platforms it runs on, and how much, can't be found from outside. It doesn't appear in the Meta, TikTok or Google ad libraries, but that doesn't mean it isn't advertising.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Where | Scale | Versus Cognius |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breeze: Self-Discovery | iOS / Android, from $2019 | 4.12M installs on Play, +38k a week; 75k ratings on the US iOS store | Same 'quiz → read-out → subscription' model, same reliance on paid ads, but two orders of magnitude bigger; no AI that remembers you |
| Olively: Attachment Style App | Android / iOS / web, 2026-04 | About 4,900 installs on Play | The most direct rival: an attachment-style plus 'remembers your relationship' AI coach. It launched half a year earlier and is about the same size, but has no paid web funnel. |
| MyIQ / Innerly / Cogniprofile | Web funnel | MyIQ has 153k reviews on Trustpilot | The same $0.99-trial-to-subscription play, led by IQ |
| 16Personalities / Truity | Web, from 2011 | Large web sites | Free quiz plus a paid report, driven by search traffic; no AI chat companion |
| Personality Tests & IQ Test, Pdb | Android | 300M+ installs | The former is an ad-monetized test collection, the latter an MBTI community |
| General assistants like ChatGPT | Everywhere | Huge | Can generate a test and talk through results, but has no test catalog, no card-style readouts, and no long-term 'your map' |

This category has always been copy-paste. On the specific combo of "attachment style + an AI that remembers," Olively got there first. On the "0.99 to 39.99" funnel, MyIQ and Innerly were earlier. I didn't see anyone copying Cognius specifically.

### If it were you

**B** : Worth a shot, but what you're copying is the "web quiz funnel + AI that remembers you" structure, not the Cognius app itself. The structure is real and the tools are off the shelf (FunnelFox-type platforms are open to anyone), and the "attachment style + AI memory" combo isn't crowded yet. The weak spot is that this is basically a paid-acquisition business, and the 0.99-to-39.99 design is pushing the whole category toward refunds, chargebacks and regulatory scrutiny.

**Who it fits** : a small team of 1–3 people who has run Meta or TikTok ads, can calculate cost per acquisition and 30-day refund rates, and ideally has a native language that hasn't been seriously worked by this kind of funnel, like Japanese or Korean. Cognius's iOS Korean store grew fastest, but it just translated its product there without tailoring to the market.

**Who it doesn't fit** : people who haven't run ads and are counting on organic store traffic. Cognius's app got only 7,900 installs in a month and a half, with no funnel or ad spend behind it, so that volume is its ceiling. It also doesn't suit anyone who wants to avoid the 'dark charge' reputation: copy this playbook and the Trustpilot 'scam' reviews will land on you too.

**How to build it** : web first, app second. On the web, run a 5–10 minute quiz (attachment style, people-pleasing, inner child: 'that's me' topics fit AI conversation better than IQ), give part of the result free, and charge for the full readout. Where Cognius falls short is your opening: show the price on the button, send a reminder before the trial ends, make cancellation one click, and trade a lower first-month price for a lower refund rate and a stable payment rail. Then build the AI guide that remembers, because renewals depend on it: remember what users corrected, deliver one insight a day drawn from their own words, and use the 'that's me / not quite' taps on cards both as context for the AI and as the trigger for the in-app rating prompt. The app catches paying users, and web checkout avoids the store's commission.

**How to get users** : short-video ads, with the quiz result itself as the creative: vertical cards like '5 things people with anxious attachment do' or 'Are you a people-pleaser?' that stop the scroll, landing straight on question one of the quiz. Test 20–30 creatives on a small budget in one language first, then scale whichever gets a first-order acquisition cost below the first-month price (inferred). Attachment-style content has been constant on Xiaohongshu and TikTok, so post organic content first to see which topics get clicks, then put money behind those.

**When to move** : launch and start small-budget tests before January 2027. January is the 'know yourself in the new year' season, and relationship topics peak around February 14 (inferred). Breeze and Olively could add AI memory or a web funnel at any time, and the later you start the more crowded it gets.

**What would mean I got it wrong** : ① If, late December, Cognius's Play installs are still around ten thousand and iOS hasn't taken off, while charge-dispute complaints on Trustpilot keep rising, that suggests the funnel is losing volume or the payment rail has a problem, and the high-price renewal route is tightening. ② If Breeze or Olively launches an AI guide with memory and a web payment entry point, the combo is no longer an open gap. ③ Conversely, if Cognius enters the Top Grossing Health & Fitness chart in any country, the app side can make money on its own, the category is looser than it looks, and you should move faster.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **Web quiz funnel plus paid ads** : cognius.app's Get Started goes to quiz.cognius.app (FunnelFox); the site's cookies include ad-type cookies; Trustpilot has 877 reviews from the past three weeks, starting 10-17

- **Verified** **Low-price trial to high-price subscription, with web checkout through a third-party merchant of record** : subscription terms read $0.99 for 3 days, then $39.99/month (thinkitsascam 2026-11-02); the terms name Epic Growth LLC as the web payee

- Inferred **Web paying users funneled into the app (web2app)** : web, Apple and Google share one account system (go.cognius.app); the spike in app installs lines up with the spike in Trustpilot reviews

- Inferred **In-app rating / review invitations** : of Play's 176 ratings, only 11 have text, and 5-star ratings make up 81%; Trustpilot has many solicited five-star reviews

- **Verified** **Store ASO and localization** : the Play title changed from Attachment Style Quiz to Understand Yourself, with a keyword-stuffed description; there's a Spanish iOS title; the Korean iOS store grew fastest in ratings

- Inferred **Meta / TikTok / Google ads** : none of our ad libraries track it, so it can't be verified

## Why Cognius: Understand Yourself (com.mindlyapps.cognius) was able to take off

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: Mindly Apps (Mindly Apps Ltd, Nicosia, Cyprus, registration no. HE 491585) | Store launch 2026-09-21 | Research date 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

It isn't an app that grew organically in the store. It's **the app side of a 'web quiz paid funnel (web2app)'** . The same brand runs a quiz funnel on the web using FunnelFox: $0.99 for one test, then auto-renewal at $39.99/month after 3 days, with web payments handled by Epic Growth LLC, a Delaware entity. The earliest cognius.app review on Trustpilot is from 2026-10-17, and it had 877 reviews within three weeks. The app itself (psychological quizzes plus an AI guide that remembers) exists so paying web users can log in and stay, with some organic store traffic on the side. Play has about 7.9K installs, +2.8K a week, which matches the pace of the web funnel scaling. Its differentiation, an AI guide that remembers after the quiz, is real at the product level, but what made it take off is mainly ads and the funnel. The product is secondary.

### 1. Data (from our database)

- **Install curve** (googleplay.app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimates, plus our own observations): 10-13 1,136 → 10-21 2,722 → 10-30 5,037 → 11-02 7,026 → 11-05 7,884. Daily installs were around 200,10-29 in mid-October, rising to about 600–660/day after 11-02, and falling back to about 200/day after 11-04. The curve jumps up in bursts, like ad budgets being raised and paused, not the smooth climb of organic word of mouth.

- **Ratings** (googleplay.app_snap): 10-31 89 → 11-06 176, doubling in a week. The star distribution is [1★10, 2★2, 3★0, 4★20, 5★142], but only 11 of the ratings have written text. Most are bare star ratings, and the ratings-to-installs ratio is about 2.2%, far above a typical app. This fits the practice of showing the Google in-app rating prompt at an emotional high point like the 'that's me' card (inferred, not verified).

- **Charts** (googleplay.chart_rank): charted only on the Netherlands' Health & Fitness Top Free chart, ranks #198 → #166. That chart is a low bar, so this doesn't show it took off in the Netherlands, only that it just cleared the threshold. The detail page can be fetched from the US store (detail_cc = us), so it isn't listed only in the Netherlands. The data card's n_countries_now=1 only counts the countries where it's charted.

- **Versions** : 10-31 is 1.0.10,11-06, now at 1.0.14, with 4 releases in one week, so the team iterates fast.

- **iOS twin** : Cognius: Know Yourself (id6812234006), listed 2026-09-28. US store: 64 ratings, 4.0 stars (iTunes lookup, 11-06), still updated as of 11-06 1.0.14. There's also a Spanish localized name, "Cognius: Conócete a ti mismo". In our appstore data it's scattered across more than a dozen countries' free charts, including Korea, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, at ranks 80–200. Korea went from 11-03 ratings to 4 11-06 18, the fastest-growing store. Korea already has a strong MBTI / 「애착 유형」 (attachment style) quiz culture.

- **Correction on the recall** : The recall called "Cognius: Attachment Style Quiz" the same developer's second Google Play app, but it's actually **the same package under its earlier title** . applion.jp and chrome-stats both index com.mindlyapps.cognius under that name: about 3K installs, 47 ratings, 4.32 stars. The developer now has only this one app on Play.

### 2. Growth tactics

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Web quiz funnel (FunnelFox) + paid acquisition | cognius.app's "Get Started" goes to quiz.cognius.app/start-v3. The page runs on FunnelFox (assets.funnelfox.co / fnlfx.com) and opens with a gender selection, then "Discover your personality". The website's cookie notice lists an "Advertisement" category and says it "serves personalised ads". | Funnel confirmed; which ad platform they buy on is unverified |
| Cheap trial, then high-priced subscription | Subscription terms as read by thinkitsascam.com (2026-11-02): a $0.99 3-day trial, then $39.99/month. A Trustpilot complaint says "1€ then 40€ charged". There are also two "Questions About Your Cognius Charge?" billing pages (iq.cognius.app, plus.cognius.app), and the login entry point is go.cognius.app. | Confirmed |
| Web payments bypass store commissions | The terms state that web purchases "may be sold and processed by Epic Growth LLC (Delaware)" as merchant of record. In-app purchases go through Apple / Google. | Confirmed |
| Web paying users funneled into the app (web2app) | The subscription terms list web, Apple and Google as parallel payment channels. They share one account system (go.cognius.app). The install curve's ramp and the surge in Trustpilot reviews (first 10-17, 877 in three weeks) move together. | Inferred, unverified |
| Solicited reviews / in-app rating prompts | On Play, only 11 of 176 ratings carry text, and 5-star ratings make up 81%. The Trustpilot page has both "Unprompted" complaints and a large number of invited positive reviews. thinkitsascam also says the page shows "positive invited reviews". | Partly confirmed |
| Store search (ASO) | On Play the title changed from "Attachment Style Quiz" to "Understand Yourself", and the description is packed with attachment style quiz / personality test / self-discovery / AI companion. iOS has localized titles, including Spanish. | ASO work confirmed; results unknown |
| Meta / TikTok / Google ad libraries | It doesn't appear in our metaads (full-text search for cognius), tiktokads or googleads. It isn't on the tracking list, so not finding it doesn't mean it isn't advertised. | Not found |
| X / TikTok content and press | x-radar search for "cognius" returned 0 posts in the last 60 days. TikHub search returned nothing, and there is no press coverage. | None |

**Where the money comes from** : On the web, users pay $0.99 for a one-time report. If they don't cancel within 3 days, they're auto-renewed at $39.99/month. Payments go through Epic Growth LLC, so there's no 15–30% store cut. In-app they sell weekly, monthly and quarterly subscriptions (Play IAP $4.99–29.99). This combination is the standard playbook for IQ / personality-test web funnels.

### 3. The people behind it and the "same machine"

- **Mindly Apps Ltd** (Cyprus) also runs **Woof Method** (woofmethod.com, dog training). Woof Method's terms and privacy policy likewise name Mindly Apps Ltd, HE 491585, and it's the same funnel-style subscription, a "10 minutes/day plan". Cognius's terms also mention a product called "Ekko". This looks like a studio running subscription funnels across several verticals at once.

- **Epic Growth LLC (Delaware)** is also the web payment entity for **Innerly** (tryinnerly.com, an IQ test; TappAds Pte. Ltd., Singapore). acisiq.com 2026-10-06 broke down Innerly's pricing: the same $0.99 → 3 days → $39.99/month, and it also mentions an "AI mentor". So Cognius and Innerly share a payment entity, pricing and funnel template. The likely explanation (inference) is one growth/acquisition team running several brands, either as agency work or their own incubation.

- The cognius.app homepage now leads with "cognitive fitness / 10-minute habit" (brain training), and many Trustpilot reviews also talk about IQ tests. The Play app, however, pitches "psychological self-assessment + an AI guide". One brand swaps hooks across funnels (IQ, personality, attachment style), and the app catches users and provides retention.

- I see no connection to Ukraine's Mindly (a therapist platform, Mindly Therapy on iOS). It's just a name collision (unverified).

### 4. Competitors

| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Cognius |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Breeze: Self-Discovery (Basenji Apps) | iOS / Android | 2019 / 2021 | Play 4.12M installs (+38k/week); iOS US store 75k ratings (googleplay / appstore libraries) | Same "quiz → interpretation → subscription" model, also driven by paid acquisition, at two orders of magnitude greater scale. Cognius adds an AI guide that remembers conversations, and its quiz library leans more toward attachment and trauma. |
| 16Personalities / Truity | Web | From ¥2011 | Huge web traffic (exact figure unverified) | Free quizzes with paid reports, powered by SEO, no AI companion. Cognius relies on paid acquisition, so it doesn't capture search traffic. |
| Personality Tests & IQ Test (DevSect) | Android | 2021 | 3.54M installs | Ad-monetized quiz collection. No subscription, no AI. |
| Pdb: Personality & Friends | Android | 2022 | 2.97M installs (+19k/week) | Community and character-based MBTI database with a social angle. Cognius is private, solo self-reflection. |
| Olively: Attachment Style App | Android / iOS / web | 2026-04 | Play 4,877 installs | The most direct competitor: attachment-style quizzes plus an AI relationship coach that "remembers your relationship". Its scale is similar to Cognius, but it lacks Cognius's web payment funnel. |
| Attachment Style Test (Elomia) | Android | Not verified | Small | Single attachment-style quiz tool |
| Innerly / MyIQ / Cogniprofile / iqbrain | Web funnel | 2024–2026 | MyIQ has 153k reviews on Trustpilot; Innerly claims "100,000+ Active Users" | The same $0.99-to-subscription model, focused on IQ. Innerly and Cognius share a payment entity. |
| Noah / Wysa / Rosebud and other AI mental-health companions | iOS / Android | From ¥2018 | Noah 360k installs | Focused on AI chat and emotional support. Its entry point isn't a quiz. |
| ChatGPT / Claude and other general assistants | Big-company features | — | Huge | You can ask them to produce an attachment-style quiz and then talk through the results, but there's no quiz catalog, no card-based interpretation, and no automatic "map of you" built up over time. |

**Is anyone copying** : The category itself is built on copying. Brands like Innerly, with the same template and the same payment entity, are already running in parallel. In the specific combination of "attachment style + an AI that remembers", Olively got there about half a year earlier. I haven't seen anything that specifically copies Cognius.

### 5. Why it took off

1. **Funnel first, app later** : The $0.99 → $39.99/month model was already proven in the IQ / personality-test category (MyIQ, Innerly). Cognius applies it directly, collects through a third-party MoR and avoids store commissions, which is what lets it sustain heavy paid acquisition. Evidence: the subscription terms, and 877 Trustpilot reviews in three weeks.

2. **The app is the retention container for web payers** : The web sells a one-time report, but keeping someone paying $39.99 a month requires something they open every day. "Daily insights + mood check-ins + an AI guide that remembers + a seven-sided map" are retention features designed for renewals. The Trustpilot complaints focus on "I only wanted to take one test", which shows retention is the make-or-break point of this business.

3. **The hooks target high-emotion, highly shareable topics** : attachment style, inner child, people-pleasing, trauma responses, ADHD / autism trait self-tests are all "that's me" topics that keep trending on TikTok and Xiaohongshu, with high click-through. Korea's iOS ratings grew fastest, which fits Korea's quiz culture.

4. **They put real effort into the store side too** : rewritten titles, stuffed keywords, 4 releases a week, and in-app rating prompts fired at emotional peaks (2.2% prompt rate, 5-star 81%). That makes it look like a high-rated, active new app in the store, and it picks up some organic search traffic from that.

### 6. Differentiation

- **Product level** : Most quiz apps give you a label and move on. Cognius breaks results into individual cards, each with "that's me / not quite" buttons, then adds an AI guide (text or voice) that remembers what you corrected and what's still unfinished, plus daily insights and a "Map of You". Notifications don't mention the quiz name or scores, which protects privacy. This goes a step beyond Breeze and 16Personalities by applying LLM memory to self-reflection, but compared with Olively and Jenova, the "AI attachment coach" products, it's not fundamentally different.

- **Is this why it took off** : **Not the main reason** . 7.9K installs at this scale come mainly from web-funnel ads and referrals. The AI guide's role is to justify the $39.99/month renewal and give the store listing a selling point beyond a plain quiz app. Any real moat lies in funnel and acquisition operations, and that capability is being copied in batches across the Epic Growth / TappAds network.

### 7. Visibility

- Revenue is not public. There's no TrustMRR listing, no founder sharing numbers, no press coverage. On X there are 0 mentions, and TikTok search returns nothing.

- The only visible footprint is in consumer-complaint spaces: 877 Trustpilot reviews at 3.4 stars, 12 PissedConsumer reviews at 1.0 stars, a Reddit r/iqtest thread titled "Beware of Cognius.app", a dedicated thinkitsascam write-up, and Facebook posts saying "Cognius app is a scam".

- Bottom line: The growth and startup crowd isn't discussing it. Only consumers who were charged know about it.

### 8. What others can borrow

- **web2app** : Web quiz → cheap trial → third-party MoR collects the subscription → prompt to download the app for retention. This avoids store commissions and keeps attribution of ad spend in-house.

- **LLM memory layered on top of a quiz** : It turns a "one-time report" into a long-term relationship worth renewing. Card-based interpretations plus "right / not quite" feedback both feed context to the AI and create a good moment to trigger an in-app rating prompt.

- **One brand, many hooks** : IQ, personality and attachment each get their own subdomain funnel, all sharing one app and one account system.

- **Cautionary lesson** : The 0.99 → 39.99 renewal design generates heavy refunds, chargebacks and bad reviews (Trustpilot 3.4, with "Subscription / Fraud / Refund" as popular tags), and this model sits under regulatory risk from the FTC's "negative option" rule. Before copying it, work out your refund rate and the risk of losing your payment processor.

### 9. Still unclear

- Which platforms they buy on and how much: our Meta / TikTok / Google ad libraries don't track it. We'd need to add cognius.app, Mindly Apps Ltd and Epic Growth LLC to the watchlist to find out.

- How many app installs come from web paying users being pulled in versus organic store traffic: no direct evidence.

- The ownership or operating ties between Mindly Apps, Epic Growth LLC and TappAds: only confirmed that Cognius and Innerly share Epic Growth LLC as the payment receiver.

- The actual revenue scale of the web funnel: Trustpilot review count can only indirectly show that volume is large.

- What "Ekko" is, unclear.
