> The product didn't take off. The same group batch-listed the same bookkeeping shell under multiple company accounts, stuffed the titles and package names with "money," and routed traffic from people wanting to borrow or earn money into finance charts with very low bars in Nigeria, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia. It steadily brings in about ${27}k installs a day and relies on ads to pay back (inferred).

Money Manager: Smart Saver · AQUINO TOWING

# Someone pasted a loan contract under an expense tracker: seven sock-puppet accounts, one template, over 2 million installs in three weeks

**What it is** A manually entered expense tracker template app that makes money only from AdMob ads. Its developer account is called AQUINO TOWING, and it is one of seven nearly identical expense-tracker sock puppets published in the same period.

**Why it took off** The product didn't take off. The same people batch-published the same expense-tracker shell from multiple company accounts, packed package names with "money," and in financial-chart markets where the bar is low (Nigeria, South Africa, Saudi Arabia), funneled traffic from people looking to borrow or earn money. It gets roughly 27k installs a day at a steady rate and recoups costs through ads (inference).

**D** **How you could follow it** Don't copy it. If you want to borrow from it, borrow only its low-cost process for batch-testing a category (one template, many accounts, many categories), not the traffic driven by borrowing intent. If you want to build in finance, build a real expense tool for a specific country that connects to local wallets.

D grade: the product has nothing worth learning from. The volume comes from a sock-puppet matrix and users who mistakenly think it's a loan app. Account-ban risk is high, and ad payback is hard to calculate. The same playbook is already being run by several groups, including companies in Vietnam. Worth knowing about, but nothing more. Hardly anyone knows about it yet

Money Manager: Smart Saver is an ordinary manual expense tracker. It was listed on Google Play in Oct 14, and from Nov 1 to 5 its installs climbed from under 2,000 to 115k. Its rise had little to do with expense tracking. Around the same time, at least seven developer accounts with unrelated names published nearly identical expense-tracker apps, with package names that shuffle the words money, saver, tracker, budget, planner, expense, and manager. Many people who installed it thought they were downloading a loan app. Below: how this playbook works, where the money comes from, and why you probably shouldn't copy it.

### A loan contract posted in the wrong place

In Oct 31, a user named Moloy Paul left a comment under Money Manager: Smart Saver. It wasn't a review of the app. It was a loan term sheet: "Principal Amount $2,400.00, Loan Amount: $2,400.00, Loan Term: 365 days, Monthly Payments: $250.00, Personal Credit Loan." By Nov 6,180 it had been marked helpful by several people.

Three days later, on Nov 3, another user wrote a single line: "did get hopes up for nothing" (got my hopes up for nothing). 27 people marked it helpful.

The most-installed sibling in the same template family is simply called **Daily Loan - Money Tracker** , with 1.6M installs in three weeks. The most-liked comment under it (Oct 15,2,663 people marked it helpful) reads: "First time using this loan application."

The last paragraph of these apps' store descriptions all carry the same disclaimer: this app **does not** provide banking, lending, credit, investment, or any real fund transfers.

### What it is

Open the store page and it's an expense tracker: log an expense or income, pick a category, add a note, view pie charts and weekly/monthly summaries, works offline. The description opens with "Saving starts with seeing" and talks about coffee, forgotten subscription cancellations, and rides as "small leaks." The sibling apps' descriptions open with coffee, rides, and food delivery too. It reads like the same model writing from the same prompt.

No in-app purchases, no subscriptions. The store page is marked "Contains ads," and the privacy policy names Google AdMob. The developer account is AQUINO TOWING (a "towing company"), but the "About the developer" section says Equal Employment Europe, with an address in Tienen, Belgium, a US phone number starting +1 864, and a support email that is a personal gmail.

### How it grew

Installs on Google Play (11-06 read):

| Date | Total installs | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 10-27 | About 1,900 | – |
| 11-01 | 7,018 | – |
| 11-02 | 33,507 | 304 |
| 11-03 | 59,611 | 404 |
| 11-05 | 114,700 | 497 |
| 11-06 | 114,700 | 535 |

Two things stand out. First, from 11-02 to 11-05 it averaged roughly 26k to 28k a day, a flat straight line rather than a spike from a viral video. It looks more like someone buying traffic by the day (inferred). Second, ratings first appeared at 304, with only two or three written reviews. Only the 1-star, 3-star and 5-star bars have counts; the 2-star and 4-star bars are 0 (11-06:107 / 0 / 53 / 0 / 374). Organic ratings don't look like this. It could be a rating prompt on first open, or bought ratings; we can't tell from outside (unverified).

That volume got it onto the Finance free chart only. From 11-02 to 11-04 it charted in about 20 countries at once. The best were Saudi Arabia #70 (11-04), South Africa #78 (11-02) and Nigeria #85 (11-03), with others including the UAE, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey. By 11-06 it was down to 5 countries, and Saudi Arabia had dropped to 96. It never made the overall chart or the Top Grossing chart.

### Same people, seven accounts

Bookkeeping apps listed around the same time, with privacy pages hosted on free pages.dev hosting (Google Play, 11-06):

| App | Developer account | Launched | Total installs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily Loan - Money Tracker | Abdo M | 10-14 | About 1.6M |
| Money Manager: Expense Planner | SLOW DOWN APP GAMES | 10-15 | About 370k |
| Smart Saver - Money Manager | Jerome Levesque | 10-14 | About 220k |
| **Money Manager: Smart Saver** | AQUINO TOWING | 10-14 | 115k |
| Money Tracker - Budget App | GINA SPANO | 10-15 | About 29k |
| Money Spending Manager | Allied Payment Network, Inc. | 10-14 | About 12k |
| Money Budget Manager | Marson International, LLC | 10-14 | About 11k |

Seven accounts, over two million installs combined in three weeks. What ties them together:

- **Package names are the same set of words in different order** , and the listing dates are 10-14 or 10-15.

- **One descriptive tone** , and every description ends with a "we do not provide loans" disclaimer.

- **One privacy policy template** . The AQUINO TOWING and GINA SPANO versions differ only in company and app name.

- **Account names, contacts and addresses don't match** . The towing company's contact email is a German personal name at gmail. GINA SPANO's email is pinyin. SLOW DOWN APP GAMES lists Team Superwout in Halen, Belgium, with a +1 407 (Florida) phone. Daily Loan's developer address is in Alexandria, Egypt.

- **Same category switches** : 10-22. AQUINO TOWING and GINA SPANO each listed a "Step Counter - Daily Walker" on the same day. The AQUINO account also has a PDF reader and WhatsApp couple stickers, and those names show up on several other accounts in the same period.

- **The "company accounts" look fabricated** . AQUINO TOWING has a decoy app, "Aquino Tow & Parts." Its companion site says "local service in Riverview, Florida," but the phone number carries a Louisville, Kentucky area code.

Why use company accounts? Since 2023, new individual Google Play developer accounts must first run a closed test with 20 people for 14 days before publishing. Company accounts don't have that requirement. Mass-registering company accounts, or buying existing ones, is a common workaround in the industry. Whether these were registered or bought can't be told from outside (inferred).

### Where users come from

**The half we're sure of: the word "money" in store listings.** Titles and bundle IDs cram in money, saver, budget, expense and manager. In Nigeria, South Africa and Saudi Arabia the Finance category's Top Free chart is an easy bar to clear: 20-30K installs a day gets you into the top 100, and charting brings a bit more search traffic on top.

**The larger half is probably people who want to borrow or earn money.** The evidence is indirect but consistent. Reviews paste loan terms, say "wasted my time," and "first time using this loan app." The largest sibling app is literally called Daily Loan and ranks #42 on India's Finance free chart. Another sibling has reviewers complaining that "the money for watching videos and playing games hasn't arrived," which is the language of "earn by watching videos" users. The user names and charting countries also fit: Nigeria, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, India, Argentina.

We couldn't find how these users were brought in through public ad transparency centers. No ads for this group turned up on Google or Meta. Possible routes include an agency buying on their behalf, ad networks such as Mintegral, Unity or Moloco, offerwalls, or lending entry points shown only to some regions (inferred, unverified). There's no discussion on TikTok or X, and no media coverage.

### Where the money comes from

The only ads are AdMob. The two most-upvoted negative reviews for Daily Loan (1,284 and 854 people found them helpful) make the same complaint: tapping anywhere brings up an ad.

The inferred loop goes like this. Buy cheap traffic (or offerwall users) in emerging markets from people who want to borrow money. Open the app to interstitial and banner ads. Users find they can't borrow and leave, but the ads have already been served. Run the seven accounts in parallel, add spend to whichever gains traction, and a ban only costs one account.

Whether the math works is the biggest unknown. Ad rates in Nigeria and India are low, and how much a user who opens the app once or twice is worth can't be calculated from outside.

### Who it's competing with

Bookkeeping has been a red ocean on Google Play for over a decade. Realbyte's Money Manager (23M installs, #7 on Korea's Finance Top Grossing), Wallet (13M), Monefy (11M) and Money Lover (8.8M) are all real, long-running products with subscriptions. In emerging markets, most people actually use the spending analytics built into their bank and wallet apps.

These shell accounts don't really compete on product. The real rivals are others using the same playbook. In the same month, a Vietnamese company was also mass-publishing bookkeeping apps from several company accounts (MoneyFlow 250k installs, MoneyCove, Moni), and a real-estate company's accounts included Money Manager: Expense Tracker and Quick Budget. More than one group is already on this path.

### If it were you

**One-line verdict** : don't chase it. This isn't a bookkeeping opportunity. It's a distribution play of "shell account matrix + borrowing traffic + ad monetization." It can produce volume, but the volume comes from users who mistakenly think they can borrow. The risks of account bans and collateral shutdowns are obvious, and several groups are already doing it.

**Who it fits** : teams already running a matrix of utility apps, with a stock of developer accounts and steady low-cost traffic, who know where Play's policy lines are. For them it's a reference point: how cheap Finance chart spots are in emerging markets, and how far one template can be spread across accounts.

**Who it doesn't fit** : indie developers who want to build a real product. There's nothing product-level to learn here. People without a paid acquisition channel who expect organic store traffic. Tens of thousands of flat daily installs don't come from search. Anyone unwilling to touch "misleading traffic": that is the core of this approach.

**How to do it, if you only borrow the method** : the reusable part is the low-cost batch process for testing categories. One template, LLM-written descriptions, a free hosted privacy page, several categories on one account (bookkeeping, step counting, PDF, stickers), then scale whichever gains traction. Don't borrow the "loan / earn money" intent traffic for non-lending apps. That's high-risk under Google's deceptive-behavior and financial services policies. If you really want to work in finance, the legitimate path is a real bookkeeping or micro-savings tool for a specific country, connected to local wallets and mobile payments, with subscription revenue.

**How to get users** : based on what these accounts do, cheap paid acquisition in emerging markets to push into the Finance free chart, then a bit of search traffic (inferred). No content or social needed.

**When to move** : no rush. People have been running this play for a long time. The window depends on when Google bans accounts in bulk, not on when you launch.

**What would show we got it wrong** : (1) if most of these seven accounts are still up after 30 days and Daily Loan keeps adding over 100k a week, Google is enforcing this structure more loosely than expected, and the matrix is a durable business. (2) If any of them starts charting in Finance Top Grossing, or adds in-app purchases, it has found better monetization than ads, and deserves a second look. (3) Conversely, if these accounts are pulled in bulk within weeks, the window has closed, and even the value of borrowing the batch process is reduced.

| Google Wallet, and spending analytics built into bank and wallet apps | Big-company features | - | Google Wallet 2.2B installs | What most emerging-market users already use |

Where users come from

- **Confirmed** **Multi-account shell matrix** : 7 accounts listed the same app on 10-14/15. Package names are the same words reordered, descriptions and privacy policy templates match, and 10-22 two accounts listed the same step-counter app on the same day (googleplay library, pages.dev pages).

- Inferred **Borrowing / earn-money intent traffic (ads or offerwalls)** : reviews paste loan terms (175 people found them helpful), and one says "did get hopes up for nothing." A sibling app is literally named Daily Loan. Another sibling's reviews mention "pay for watching videos." The descriptions specifically add a "no lending" disclaimer.

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (Google / Meta)** : the googleads library maps to no_ads, and the metaads library has no match. The traffic may come through an agency or an ad network we don't track.

- **Confirmed** **Store search / ASO** : titles and package names are packed with money / saver / budget / expense / manager. The app reached the top 200 of the FINANCE free chart in 20 countries.

- Inferred **Content / creators** : TikTok and X each have 0 posts. Only one is uncertain, a Hindi YouTube tutorial that may or may not be about this app.

## Why Money Manager: Smart Saver (com.money.saver.tracker.budget.planner.expense.manager) made it to the chart

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: AQUINO TOWING | Store launch 2026-10-14 | Research day 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

It didn't succeed on product. It's one account in a **batch shell matrix** . The same group, in 10-14/15, used at least 7 different developer accounts (a towing company, a real-estate LLC, a payments company, personal names) to list nearly identical "bookkeeping / money-saving" apps. The package names are the words money / saver / tracker / budget / planner / expense / manager in different orders. The AQUINO TOWING account alone went from about 11-01 to 11-05 installs, reaching 1,900k at 115. Users came for "borrowing / earning money" (reviews paste loan terms and say "wasted my time"). Monetized through AdMob ads, no in-app purchases.

### 1. Data

| Date | Cumulative global installs | Score | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-22 | 263 | – | googleplay.app_day_ext (AppstoreSpy estimates) |
| 2026-10-27 | 1,887 | – | Same as above |
| 2026-10-29/30/31 | 1,893 | – | googleplay.app_snap |
| 2026-11-01 | 7,018 | – | Same as above |
| 2026-11-02 | 33,507 | 304 (2 written reviews) | Same as above |
| 2026-11-03 | 59,611 | 404 | Same as above |
| 2026-11-05 | 114,700 | 497 | Same as above |
| 2026-11-06 | 114,700 | 535 | Same as above |

- From 11-02 to 11-05 it averaged about 27k installs a day (app_day_ext ipd: 26,489 / 26,104 / 27,544), a flat, steady rate, not an organic spike.

- Charts: only the FINANCE free category chart. Best rankings were 11-04 Saudi Arabia #70, 11-02 South Africa #78, 11-03 Nigeria #85. From 11-02 to 11-04 it charted in about 20 storefronts at once (sa ae za ng ar br mx id my th tr pl nl tw au es…), and by 11-06 it was down to only 5 storefronts (googleplay.chart_rank). It never made the overall chart or the Top Grossing chart.

- Monetization: `ad_supported = True`, `offers_iap = False`. The privacy policy names Google AdMob (https://long-bird-70.pages.dev/). The store page is marked "Contains ads."

- The ratings are weird: 11-02 got its first rating at 304 with only 2 written reviews. The histogram only has real counts in the 1-star, 3-star and 5-star bins; the other two bins are 0 (11-06: [107, 0, 53, 0, 374]). That doesn't match a normal organic rating distribution. It could be a rating prompt that fires right at app launch, or bought ratings, **unverified** .

- Reviews on the store page (Jina read of the Play page, 11-06):
    - "did get hopes up for nothing" (11-03,22 people found it helpful)
    - "Money Tracker Principal Amount $2,400.00 Loan Amount: $2,400.00 Loan Term: 365 days Monthly Payments: $250.00 Personal Credit Loan" (10-31,175 people found it helpful)
    - "bukar Ibraahim" (a Nigerian-style name, 18 people found it helpful). These reviews suggest **users installed it expecting to borrow money** . The store description even ends with a disclaimer: "It does **not** provide banking, lending, credit… or any real money transfers".

### 2. The matrix: same people, many accounts, same template

A Google Play library search for apps whose developer site is *.pages.dev and that launched after September turned up these same-template apps from the same period (app_profile, 11-06):

| App | Developer account | Launched | Total installs | 7-day gain | Developer website |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Daily Loan - Money Tracker(com.money.expense.tracker.budget.finance.save) | Abdo M | 10-14 | 1,601,966 | 219,583 | lingering-shape-18.pages.dev |
| Money Manager: Expense Planner(com.money.tracker.budget.planner.expense.manager.saver) | SLOW DOWN APP GAMES | 10-15 | 367,819 | 362,403 (Nigeria FINANCE #12) | nameless-resonance-14.pages.dev |
| Smart Saver - Money Manager(com.money.expense.save.finance.tracker.budget) | Jerome Levesque | 10-14 | 221,015 | 125,469 | divine-thunder-63.pages.dev |
| **Money Manager: Smart Saver (this app)** | AQUINO TOWING | 10-14 | 114,700 | 112,807 | long-bird-70.pages.dev |
| Money Tracker - Budget App(com.money.tracker.saver.expense.manager.budget.planner) | GINA SPANO | 10-15 | 28,556 | – | green-pond-42.pages.dev |
| Money Spending Manager | Allied Payment Network, Inc. | 10-14 | 12,187 | – | apppolicy.pages.dev |
| Money Budget Manager | Marson International, LLC | 10-14 | 10,757 | – | apppolicy.pages.dev |

Several things they share:

- **The package names are the same words in a different order** , and all first launched on 10-14/15.

- **The descriptions share one writing style** (they look LLM-written): they open with a scene like "Coffee… a taxi… small payments pile up" and end with a single line disclaiming lending.

- **The privacy policies are one template** : green-pond-42.pages.dev (GINA SPANO) and long-bird-70.pages.dev (AQUINO TOWING) differ only in company and app name.

- **The contact emails are gmail addresses that don't match the account names** : AQUINO TOWING uses h.uhlenhorst@gmail.com, GINA SPANO uses feiniao921@gmail.com (Pinyin), and SLOW DOWN APP GAMES uses gennarinozerega@gmail.com.

- **Same-time category switch** : 10-22 AQUINO TOWING and GINA SPANO each launched a "Step Counter - Daily Walker" on the same day. AQUINO's "More by" section also lists "PDF Editor - All PDF Reader" and "Romantic Stickers - WAStickers", and both names also show up on several other accounts in the same period, including Tutor AI, Willcar Studio, and HAMZ LIMITED (googleplay library).

- **The accounts look like manufactured "company accounts"** : under the AQUINO TOWING account sits a front app, "Aquino Tow & Parts" (com.aquinotow.parts). Its site aquinotowing.site says "Local to Riverview, FL", but the phone number listed there uses area code (502), which belongs to Louisville, Kentucky (Jina read of the page). The real Aquino towing companies findable online are in Chowchilla, CA, Clewiston, FL and Hawaii, none of which match this account (Jina search). Since 2023, new individual developer accounts on Google Play must pass a "20 testers for 14 days" closed test before publishing; company accounts don't. Mass-creating "company accounts" (or buying aged ones) is a common way around that. Inference: these accounts were mass-registered or bought, **unverified** .

### 3. Where users came from (growth tactics)

- **Ads: not in our data.** The googleads library maps this app to `no_ads`. We checked the legal entity name, product name and domain (adv_map). The metaads library also has no advertiser that lands on this set of package names. That doesn't mean there's no spend: if it runs through an agency account, or through networks we don't track like Mintegral, Unity, Moloco or offer walls, neither library would show it.

- **Traffic from "loan / money-earning" intent, indirect evidence:**
    - Reviews of this app include people posting loan terms, and people saying they were "let down for nothing".
    - The highest-install app in the same matrix is literally called "**Daily Loan** - Money Tracker" (1.6M installs, India FINANCE #42).
    - A review on the SLOW DOWN APP GAMES app says "havent gotten pay for watching videos and paying games", which is how users of "watch videos to earn money" apps talk.
    - These users are mainly in Nigeria, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, India and Argentina. In those markets many people search "loan / money / earn money", and acquiring individual users is cheap.
    - Inference: traffic comes from loan or earn-money ads or offer-wall referrals, or from people searching "loan / money" in the store. There may also be a "side B" where the app passes review as a bookkeeping app and then shows loan referrals in some regions, **unverified** .

- **Store search / ASO:** The package name and title stuff in money / saver / budget / expense / manager. The FINANCE category is an easy one to rank in on emerging-market stores, so reaching #70–100 picks up some organic traffic. But that's a bonus; it can't explain a steady 27k a day.

- **Creators and content:** TikTok searches (TikHub for "smart saver app" and "money manager smart saver") find no related videos. X (x-radar, 30 days) has 0 posts. There is one Hindi YouTube tutorial, "Smart Saver App Kaise Use Kare" (youtube.com/watch?v=YkY5OaRY5LE), but we can't confirm it's about this app. No press coverage.

- **The inferred money loop:** Cheap emerging-market traffic (or offer-wall traffic) comes in, users open the app and see AdMob interstitial and app-open ads, and ad revenue covers the acquisition cost. 7 accounts run at once; whichever one gets traction gets more spend, and if one is banned you only lose that account.

### 4. Competitors

| Competitors | Platform | Launched | Scale (googleplay library, 11-06) | How it differs from this product |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Money Manager Expense & Budget(Realbyte) | Android / iOS | 2013 | 23.2M installs, #7 on Korea's FINANCE Top Grossing | A real product with subscriptions and deep features. This app is just a shell. |
| Wallet: Budget Expense Tracker(BudgetBakers) | Android / iOS | 2011 | 13.5M | Can connect to banks and has subscriptions. This app only does manual entry. |
| Monefy | Android / iOS | 2014 | 10.9M | An established minimalist expense tracker with a paid tier. This app's features are about the same, but it relies on ads and referrals. |
| Money manager & expenses(ru.innim.my_finance) | Android | 2020 | 13.1M | Also from a tools studio and also ad-supported, but it has been around for 5 years. |
| Money Lover(Finsify) | Android / iOS | 2011 | 8.83M | Established product with subscriptions |
| Rocket Money | Android / iOS | 2016 | 14.8M, #5 Top Grossing in the US store | US market, focused on subscription cancellation and bill management |
| Sibling apps in the same matrix (6 in total, including Daily Loan - Money Tracker) | Android | 2026-10-14/15 | 11k to 1.6M | Same template, just different accounts and package names |
| MoneyFlow / MoneyCove / Moni (VIONYX-family Vietnamese company accounts) | Android | 2026-10 | 250k / 15k / 8k | A Vietnamese team using the same playbook: mass-publishing expense apps from multiple company accounts |
| Big-company features: Google Wallet, bank apps in each country, and spending analysis built into wallets | Android | – | Google Wallet 2.2B | What most emerging-market users already use |

Expense tracking is a **red ocean** on Play, and this app has no feature differentiation at all.

### 5. Differentiation

At the product level there's no differentiation. Its only difference from established expense apps is in its **distribution structure** :

1. **A multi-account matrix** , with the same template listed across 7 accounts at once.

2. **The title and package name carry the "money" traffic keyword** , catching searches and ad clicks from people in emerging markets who want to borrow or earn money.

3. **Monetized only through AdMob** , so whether users stay doesn't matter: one install and a few opens is enough to break even.

What let it run is exactly this structure, not its features.

### 6. Visibility

- Nobody's written about it: no press coverage, 0 posts on X and 0 on TikTok. Only auto-generated pages from Appfigures, Sensor Tower, AppBrain and Similarweb. Revenue isn't public either.

- Copycats: a matrix is inherently a copy-paste setup. Also, in the same period, the Vietnamese VIONYX family (MoneyFlow, 250k installs), Money Manager: Expense Tracker from INDY CROSSROADS REALTY GROUP LLC, and Quick Budget all ran the same "company account + expense shell" playbook.

### 7. What to borrow

- The FINANCE chart is easy to crack in emerging markets: 2–30k installs a day is enough to reach the top 100 in Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Nigeria.

- "Company-account matrix + same template + pages.dev privacy page + LLM copy" cuts the cost of publishing each app to almost nothing, so you can test categories in bulk (expense → step counter → PDF → sticker packs).

- Risk: using loan-intent traffic for a non-lending app misleads users and carries a high risk of Google bans, and matrix accounts can be taken down together at any time.

### 8. Still unclear

- Which channel was actually bought (an agency buying on their behalf, or Mintegral / Unity / offer walls)? Google and Meta ad libraries show nothing.

- Is there a "side B" (showing loan referrals to some regions)? Not verified, since the package wasn't installed.

- Are the ratings faked?

- Were the accounts bought or self-registered?

- Can ad revenue per user cover acquisition cost?

- Is the matrix run by a single operator? Right now this is inferred from templates, timing and package names.
