# A fitness creator aged 22 built a "halal Spotify": the app itself isn't remarkable, what's remarkable is how it gets other creators to bring in users

**What it is** An audio app for Muslims: vocals-only religious songs, Quran recitation, and workout and sleep playlists. The content is pulled from YouTube, and Pro costs €4.99/month.

**Why it took off** It enters through a specific scenario: "Muslim men who want instrument-free, high-energy tracks while lifting." The founder and a circle of fitness creators post playlist reels on Instagram. Users get 10% off with a creator's code, the creator gets 10% of the subscription every month, and each reel that goes viral brings a spike in installs.

**B** **How you could follow it** Don't build another halal music app; take the playbook instead. Find a value-defined audience you belong to (or go into a Muslim market in another language), use licensed content, make "a dedicated playlist page for each creator plus a lifetime revenue-share code" the first feature, and acquire users through creator reels.

Grade B: the playbook is clear, almost nobody knows about it, and it needs no upfront cash, so it's worth a try. But the same niche already has three or four players, its content carries compliance risk because it's on YouTube, growth still depends on the founder's own audience and network that followers won't have, and scale and revenue are still small. MuslyWave is an audio app with only vocal nasheeds and the Quran, built by one person in Italy. It hit Google Play in Sep 22, and by Nov 6 it had 13.9k installs. Functionally it's about the same as similar apps that started a year earlier; what got it moving was a distribution system: the founder is a Muslim fitness creator with 79k followers, and he gives every other fitness creator a playlist and a revenue-share code. Below: how this playbook actually works, where the money comes from, the risks, and which half you can borrow.

### The gym plays music

On Reddit's r/MuslimLounge, "what do you listen to while working out?" gets asked every few months. Someone writes, "The gym plays music, and I can't train without headphones," while others complain, "It's hard to find nasheeds that are hype enough." For many observant Muslims, music with instruments is off-limits, but they still need rhythm while lifting. Spotify and YouTube have "vocals only" playlists, but they're mixed with instrumental versions and full of ads.

Eraldo Shtylla sits in that gap. His Instagram account @eraldo.sht has 79k followers (11-06). His bio reads "Muslim | Fitness | Natural | 22 🇦🇱🇮🇹 / I Help Muslim Men Build Their Dream Physique," with a line below: "DM me COACH to start one-on-one coaching." The only link in the bio doesn't go to his coaching service; it goes to one of his playlists on MuslyWave. From late October to early November, he posted one or two workout videos almost every day.

The app's terms of service state it outright: the author is "an independent developer based in Italy, working alone," and the audio is "hosted on YouTube. We do not host that content." So there's no music licensing, and no bandwidth costs.

### What it actually is

The Play Store listing says it's "made for listening, not for scrolling":

- The Quran, with 150 reciters, line-by-line highlighting and translation, available offline;

- Vocal-only nasheeds from artists, plus sleep, focus and workout playlists, with daily and weekly charts;

- "Party": a group listens to the same song at the same second;

- "Weekly league": ranked worldwide by listening minutes.

Pro subscription at €4.99/month or €34.99/year (pricing page on the website, tax-inclusive Italian prices), which removes ads, enables offline listening, and adds "a crown next to your name" and a customizable profile. On Play, the in-app purchase is priced at $2.79–$34.89.

### The curve is a series of spikes

| Timeline | Estimated daily new installs |
|---|---|
| 10-12 ~ 10-18 | About 290 |
| 10-19 ~ 10-21 | 550–670 |
| 10-22 ~ 10-27 | About 200 |
| 10-28 ~ 10-31 | About 700 |
| 11-01 ~ 11-02 | About 2,150 |
| 11-03 | About 420 |
| 11-04 ~ 11-05 | About 180 |

Third-party estimates, so only rough numbers. On Play, cumulative installs went from 10-31 at 8,807 to 11-06 at 13,899, up +5,092 in a week.

It doesn't climb steadily. It spikes, drops back, then spikes again. Continuous paid acquisition doesn't look like this; this is what single pieces of content driving traffic look like. 11-06 On the Google Play free Music chart it ranked #116 in the UAE, #127 in Turkey, #169 in India and #174 in Malaysia. On iOS, despite a single-digit rating, it made the free Music category charts in small markets like Uzbekistan (#16), Pakistan (#21), Jordan (#23) and Qatar (#30). Small-country category charts have low bars, and iOS listing names localized into Italian, French, Russian and others ("Audio Musulmano", "Мусульманское аудио") mean a small volume is enough to chart.

### Where users come from: other people's playlists, his own revenue-share code

Matching the spikes against Instagram post timing:

- **10-14** : Moroccan-born fitness creator Hamza El Morabet posted a reel with a single line, "Listen to the playlist Hamza's Gym Nasheeds on MuslyWave!" followed by an in-app playlist link. The MuslyWave official account and Eraldo himself both left comments. Five days later, 10-19 to 21, daily installs rose to 550–670.

- **10-31** : Aran Işık-Jones (@aranziyafitness, 17k followers, bio: "helping ambitious Muslim men get leaner, stronger and more energized, coached 450+ clients") posted a fitness reel tagged #playlist, with a Quran recitation as the background audio. Search snippets show posts from this circle saying "Follow and comment 'playlist' to get my full gym Nasheeds playlist," meaning "follow and comment 'playlist' and I'll DM you my full gym playlist." On the second and third days, daily installs climbed to about 2,150.

Both times, creator posts came first and the spike followed within a few days. The posts are confirmed; that they caused the spikes is an **inference** based on timing alone.

What ties this together is a passage on the website: "Some creators have their own codes… you pay 10% less, and the creator gets 10% of what you pay each month while you stay subscribed." Eraldo's own code is ERA. In Sep 30 he posted a reel: "Use code ERA to get MuslyWave Pro, save 10% and support me." For creators, this is a recurring monthly cut without building a product themselves; for the app, it recruits creators without spending a cent upfront, and only pays out when real users pay.

There's also a less obvious channel: the public Spotify playlist "Gym Nasheeds" by user eraldoshtylla, with 7 tracks, 26 minutes, and 21,934 saves (11-06). Its description is just three words: "Download MuslyWave." It uses Spotify search traffic to drive people to the app.

Channels I couldn't find: searching "muslywave" on TikTok returns 0 results, and the founder's TikTok account has 0 posts; nobody mentions it on X or Reddit; there's no media coverage; the MuslyWave official IG has only 5,138 followers (11-06). Whether it runs Meta ads can't be determined, though the shape of the curve doesn't look like paid acquisition.

### Where the money comes from

Subscription at €4.99/month, with a 10% discount for code users and 10% of revenue going to creators. Paid scale isn't visible: on iOS it appeared at #85 on Nigeria's Music Top Grossing chart, which only shows that people are paying, not how many. Costs are almost entirely one person's time and servers, with the content carried by YouTube.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Nasheedio | Play 100k+, started at the end of 2024 | A broader positioning (original content, podcasts, audiobooks, AI recommendations), plus a women's section; in Sep 11 it also posted a "vocals-only workout playlist" reel, but it doesn't offer revenue share to outside creators |
| Nasheedify(House of Islam) | Play 5,000+ | Focuses on "no instruments," built by the team behind a Quran app |
| Solifyy | Claims 500+ artists | "Halal Spotify", Android only, artist uploads plus ads |
| Old-style nasheed collection app | Top 1M+ | Local audio collection, no accounts, community or subscription |
| Big players like Muslim Pro | tens of millions | Quran audio is standard there; they don't do nasheed streaming |

So "halal streaming" isn't an empty niche, and MuslyWave isn't the first to it. On product it isn't ahead. The one thing it leads on is **entering through fitness and distributing through creators** .

### Risks

- **YouTube terms** : streaming and offline downloads of YouTube content in the background are, in principle, banned by the YouTube API Terms of Service (**not verified clause by clause** ). If the API gets shut off or the store pulls the app, the content layer is gone. Anyone copying this should not copy this part.

- **Spiky** : between spikes, daily installs drop back to around 200. There's no data yet on whether new creators keep coming in to keep it going.

- **Core asset doesn't transfer** : the founder's own 79k followers and his relationships in the Muslim fitness scene, you can't get those.

### If it were you

**B.** Building another "Islamic music app" straight up isn't worth it: there are already three or four, and sourcing content from YouTube is a compliance landmine. What's worth taking is the playbook: values-driven audience × high-engagement context, creator playlists as landing pages, revenue share codes instead of paid acquisition.

**Who it's for** : people who are already inside a values-driven community and know a circle of creators in it who do fitness, study or parenting content, ideally creating content themselves. For example: Christian fitness ("worship gym playlists"), Jewish communities, vegan or strict-diet communities, or going after the Muslim market in other languages (Turkish, Indonesian, Malay, Urdu). Right now it's mostly English and Italian.

**Who it's not for** : people who can only write code, have no connections in the community, or are counting on organic store traffic. In this category, the traffic lives with the creators. Don't do it if you plan to ship fast by repackaging YouTube content; the compliance risk is your ceiling.

**How to build it** : use licensed content, such as artists uploading their own tracks, royalty-free vocal libraries, or revenue splits with small labels. Don't depend on YouTube. Make "one dedicated playlist page per creator + one dedicated code" the first feature: the web landing page opens straight into the app and shows each creator how many installs and subscriptions they drove. Subscriptions at 10% off plus a lifetime 10% for the creator; copy that, or offer a bit more to win creators over.

**How to get users** : first find 20–30 niche creators with 1–50k followers, with no cash, just codes and playlists. Teach them to post reels using "comment keyword → auto-DM link." Run your own content account, and create a playlist with the same name on Spotify to drive traffic.

**Deadline** : launch before Ramadan 2027 (starting around early February), the biggest month of traffic for Muslim content. Those building for other communities should aim for January's fitness season.

**How you'd know you got it wrong** : ① within 30 days, MuslyWave's Play daily installs never spike again and stay below 200, meaning creator traffic dried up; ② a bigger competitor like Nasheedio adds creator revenue-share codes, closing the window; ③ MuslyWave gets its YouTube content pulled, showing the content cost in this category is much higher than it looks.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nasheedio | iOS | About 2024-11 | Play 100k+ installs (AppBrain) | Broader positioning (original content, podcasts, AI recommendations, a women's sub-brand). No creator revenue-share codes, and no fitness-first entry point |
| Nasheedify(House of Islam) | iOS | About 2023 | Play 5K+ | Leads with "no instruments" and a 7-day free trial; part of the Quran App family; drives traffic through Reddit and its own apps |
| Solifyy | Android | Unverified (about 2025) | Claims 500+ artists and 2.1M monthly streams | A halal Spotify with an advertiser ecosystem; Android only |
| Aswati Studio | Web | 2026-09 | 150+ royalty-free vocal tracks | Creator-facing music library for background tracks, not a daily listening app |
| Islamic Nasheed & Ringtones(ZatApps)/ Islamic songs 2026(BeatBazaar) | Android | Around 2024 | 1M+ / 246k | Old-school local audio collection, with no accounts, community or subscriptions |
| Muslim Pro and other Quran apps | Big-company features | Years | tens of millions | Quran audio is standard, but they don't do nasheed streaming or the fitness angle |
| Vocals-only fitness playlists on Spotify and YouTube | Other | — | A single playlist with tens of thousands of saves | The most complete free content, but messy; MuslyWave uses its own Spotify playlist (21,934 saves) to funnel traffic back |

Where users come from

- **Confirmed** **The founder's own Instagram (79k-follower Muslim fitness creator)** : @eraldo.sht bio reads "I Help Muslim Men Build Their Dream Physique," the link goes straight to the MuslyWave playlist; posts fitness videos every day from 10-30 to 11-05; pushes Pro with the ERA code

- Inferred **Fitness creators' "comment playlist → DM the playlist" reels** : Hamza El Morabet 10-14 posted a reel promoting his MuslyWave fitness playlist, after which installs ran 550–670 a day from 10-19 to 21; Aran Işık-Jones (17.1k followers) posted a reel on 10-31 saying "comment 'playlist'," got 516 comments, and installs then ran about 2,158 a day from 11-01 to 02. The causal link is only a matching timeline

- **Confirmed** **Creator revenue-share codes (affiliate)** : the official site says users with a code get 10% off, and the creator earns 10% per month for the length of the subscription

- **Confirmed** **Spotify playlist as a funnel** : eraldoshtylla's "Gym Nasheeds" playlist has 21,934 saves, and its description is just "Download MuslyWave"

- **Confirmed** **Localized store listings and small-country category charts** : iOS has localized names in Italian, French, Russian and more, and it charts in the Music Top Free lists of UZ, PK, JO, QA and similar countries on very few installs

- Inferred **TikTok / X / Reddit / press / paid acquisition** : TikHub returned 0 items; the founder's TikTok account has 0 posts; x-radar returned 0 items; no press coverage found; the ad library isn't tracking it, so paid acquisition is unknown

## MuslyWave (com.muslywave.app): why it's working

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: googleplay / appstore libraries (agent-im server), AppstoreSpy's estimated daily installs since launch (library table app_day_ext), Jina web search and page scraping, TikHub, x-radar. Anything not verified is marked "unverified."

### Bottom line

MuslyWave is a solo-built "halal audio" app: nasheeds (vocal-only religious songs), 150+ Quran recitations, and fitness and sleep playlists. The audio plays from YouTube, so the licensing cost is close to zero. Founder Eraldo Shtylla is a 22-year-old Muslim fitness creator with 79k Instagram followers (@eraldo.sht). It got traction through the fitness-plus-halal angle: the founder's own followers, plus a group of Muslim fitness creators posting "comment 'playlist' and I'll DM you my gym nasheed playlist" reels, with the playlist link going straight into the app. Creators get a creator code; subscribers get 10% off, and creators earn 10% recurring. The product itself isn't much different from Nasheedio or Nasheedify. What's different is distribution: entering through the fitness crowd, plus creator revenue share.

### 1. Basic data

| items | Numbers | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Listed on Play | 2026-09-22 (iOS launched 2026-07-01 first) | googleplay library app; iTunes lookup id 6777798640 |
| Play installs | 8,807(10-31) → 13,899(11-06), +5,092 in 7 days | googleplay app_day |
| Daily installs since launch | 10-12–18 about 294/day; 10-19–21 about 550–670/day; 10-22–27 about 200/day; 10-28–31 about 700/day; **11-01–02 about 2,158/day** ; 11-03 417; 11-04–05 about 180/day | app_day_ext (AppstoreSpy estimate, averaged between observations) |
| Play chart | Music Top Free: AE 116, TR 127 (10-31 is 196), IN 169, MY 174 | googleplay chart_rank 11-06 |
| iOS | Few reviews (IT 6, EG 3, GB 2), but it charts in the Music Top Free category in many small countries: UZ 16, PK 21, JO 23, QA 30, OM 36, DZ 40; NG Music Top Grossing 85 | App Store database app_profile |
| Pricing | Pro €4.99/month or €34.99/year (Italy, tax included); Play in-app purchases $2.79–$34.89 | muslywave.com/premium; data card |
| Version | 1.15.1; the iOS update notes still ask users to rate the app | iTunes lookup |

The curve is a series of spikes, not smooth growth, and it falls back to around 200 a day in between. That's what growth from individual pieces of content looks like (see the timeline in section 3 below).

### 2. Competitors

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How MuslyWave differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nasheedio | iOS / Android | About 2024-11 (iOS id6738590844) | Play 100k+ installs (AppBrain); calls itself "the world's first Muslim audio streaming service," with a women's sub-brand @nasheedioforfemales | Has original content (a Ramadan series), AI recommendations, podcasts and audiobooks, with a broader positioning; also runs "fitness nasheed" reels (2026-07-30), but has no creator revenue share |
| Nasheedify(House of Islam) | iOS / Android / web | iOS about 2023 (id6457251954) | Play 5K+ | Leads with "no instruments" and a 7-day Pro free trial; run by House of Islam, which makes Quran apps, and pushed early on Reddit r/MuslimLounge |
| Solifyy | Android | 2025? (unverified) | Claims 500+ artists and 2.1M monthly streams | A "halal Spotify" with artist uploads and a third-party advertiser ecosystem; Android only |
| Aswati Studio | Web (PWA) | 2026-09 | 150+ royalty-free vocal tracks | A creator-facing library of background music, not built for everyday listening |
| ZIKR / Halal.fm / Halaal FM | Web / radio | All different | Small | Original content or radio, not an on-demand app |
| Islamic Nasheed & Ringtones (ZatApps), Islamic songs 2026 (BeatBazaar) | Android | Around 2024 | 1M+ / 246k | Old-school local audio collection app, with no community, accounts or subscriptions |
| Muslim Pro and Quran-type apps | big tech | Years | tens of millions | Quran audio has long been standard, but they don't do nasheed streaming or social features |
| "Vocals only" playlists on Spotify and YouTube | Other | — | For example, Spotify's "Best Gym Nasheeds 2025" | Free and the most complete, but mixed with instrumental versions and ads; MuslyWave uses its Spotify playlists to funnel traffic back to itself |

Bottom line: the "halal streaming" niche already has Nasheedio (100k+), Nasheedify and Solifyy. MuslyWave isn't first, and it isn't ahead on product.

### 3. Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **The founder is a Muslim fitness creator himself** : Instagram @eraldo.sht has 79k followers, with a bio reading "Muslim | Fitness | Natural | 22 🇦🇱🇮🇹 / I Help Muslim Men Build Their Dream Physique", and the bio link goes straight to the MuslyWave playlist (muslywave.com/playlist/…). 10-30 to 11-05 he posts 1–2 fitness videos almost every day (Jina scraped his IG profile). He also sells 1:1 fitness coaching ("DM me 'COACH'"), so the app and the coaching business share one audience. [Confirmed]

2. **Fitness creator "comment keyword → DM playlist" reels** :
    - Hamza El Morabet (@hamza_el_vibes) posted a reel on 10-14, "Listen to the playlist Hamza's Gym Nasheeds on MuslyWave!", with an in-app playlist link. The timing lines up with the 10-19–21 wave of 550–670 daily installs.
    - Aran Işık-Jones (@aranziyafitness, 17.1K followers, "Fat Loss & Health Coach For Driven Dads") posted a reel on 10-31, "Follow and comment 'playlist' to get my full gym Nasheeds playlist on @muslywave". The search snippet shows 516 comments. 11-01–02 was followed right away by a surge to about 2,158 installs a day (+4,315 over two days). This is the classic ManyChat-style play of swapping a comment keyword for a DM link, and the comment count itself helped push the reel's distribution.
    - The content was also reposted and shared on Facebook (MrebulaBoi: "I will text you gym playlist #muslywave"). [Creators posting is confirmed; whether these posts drove the install spike is only a timing match, not verified]

3. **Creator code revenue share** : the site says "Some creators have a personal code… you pay 10% less… The creator receives 10% of what you pay, every month while you stay subscribed". The founder's own code is ERA (IG reel: "You can now use code ERA on MuslyWave Pro to save 10% and support me"). The more a creator promotes, the more they earn. It's an affiliate distribution engine. [Confirmed]

4. **Spotify playlist as a funnel** : user eraldoshtylla's "Gym Nasheeds" playlist on Spotify has 21,934 saves, and its description is just "Download MuslyWave". It borrows Spotify's search traffic to send people to the app. [Confirmed]

5. **Web deep links and multilingual store listings** : muslywave.com playlists, tracks and profiles are "This opens in the app" landing pages, so a creator's link converts directly. The iOS listing has Italian, French and Russian localized names ("Audio Musulmano", "Audio Musulman", "Мусульманское аудио"), so it can chart in music categories in small markets like UZ, PK, JO and QA with very little volume (appstore library). [Confirmed]

6. **Channels not found** : TikTok search for "muslywave" returns 0 results, the founder's TikTok has 2 followers and 0 posts (TikHub). X has 0 posts (x-radar, 60 days). No mention on Reddit, no press coverage. The ad library doesn't track it, so paid acquisition is unknown. But the daily install curve is a series of spikes that fade back, not the shape of sustained paid spend.

### 4. Why it took off

- **Sharp audience angle** : "the gym plays music, Muslims want high-energy vocals-only tracks" is a recurring real need (Reddit r/MuslimLounge has people asking "What do you listen to in the gym?" and "its been hard tryna find hype nasheeds" for years). MuslyWave doesn't start from "religious app"; it starts from fitness, one of the most engaging verticals on Instagram.

- **The founder is the channel** : a fitness creator with 79k followers building the app himself means no cold-start cost, and he recruits other fitness creators to promote it.

- **The money comes back** : a creator gets 10% of each subscription they bring in, and the user saves 10%. No upfront cash, payment only on results, so one person can run it.

- **Very low cost** : the terms state "MuslyWave organises and plays audio and video hosted on YouTube. We do not host that content", so there's no licensing and no bandwidth bill. One person in Italy develops and runs it (terms: "an independent developer based in Italy, working alone").

- **Retention design** : weekly leagues ranked by listening minutes, Party listening sessions, daily and weekly charts, creator uploads. Pro sells ad removal and offline, plus identity extras like a crown next to your name and a customizable profile. Whether it actually retains is unknown; there's no data (Play doesn't show a rating count yet).

### 5. Differentiation

- On features (nasheeds plus Quran, offline, playlists), it's essentially the same as Nasheedio and Nasheedify. Features aren't why it took off.

- The somewhat different part is the social and gamified play (weekly leagues, Party, crowns). That's rare in the category, but I can't see how much it contributed to growth.

- **The real difference is distribution** : (1) it starts from fitness rather than religion; (2) the founder is himself a creator in that audience; (3) a creator playlist plus revenue-share code affiliate mechanic. Nasheedio also posts fitness reels, but it doesn't pay outside creators a share. That's why this one took off.

### 6. Visibility and copycats

- Few people know about it yet: revenue isn't public (no TrustMRR listing, and the founder hasn't posted numbers). X, TikTok, Reddit and the press don't mention it. Play has 13.9k installs, and the iOS rating count is single digits.

- Copycats: none specifically seen copying it. Nasheedio, in the same niche, also makes fitness nasheed content, but it launched earlier, so it isn't a copycat.

### 7. What to borrow

- **Religious or values audience × high-engagement vertical** : entering values-based audiences (Muslim, Christian, kosher, vegan) through scenarios like "fitness / study / sleep" spreads better on Instagram than a straight "religious app".

- **Creator playlists are the best landing page** : playlists are naturally shareable. The path "comment keyword → DM the in-app playlist link" is short, and every creator gets a playlist of their own.

- **Revenue-share codes instead of paid ads** : the user gets -10%, the creator gets 10% lifetime revenue share. Small teams can recruit creators without upfront cash.

- **Content hosted on YouTube** : offloads copyright and bandwidth costs to YouTube. The risk is YouTube API terms and takedowns (see below).

### 8. Still unclear

- The link between the install spikes and the two creator reels is only a timing match. Whether there was Meta paid acquisition wasn't found; the ad library doesn't track it.

- Payment rate and revenue: Play in-app purchases of $2.79–$34.89, and iOS ranked #85 on the NG music Top Grossing chart. That only shows sporadic paying users; the scale is unknown.

- Compliance risk: playing YouTube content in the background and downloading it offline very likely violates YouTube API terms (the terms prohibit offline and background playback; not checked clause by clause). Risk of delisting or API cutoff.

- After 11-03, daily installs fell back to about 180 a day. No data yet on whether the next hit can follow.

- Only three creators with the code have been found: ERA (the founder), Hamza and Aran. The total number is unknown.
