# NiceTV, which runs an ad every episode: behind 3.22M installs is a team that opens shells and runs paid acquisition

**What it is** A free vertical short-drama app on Android, all episodes free, with an ad between episodes, mainly targeting Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil.

**Why it took off** The same backend was re-skinned into a dozen-plus apps, each split further into Pro and Max variants, with paid acquisition concentrated in Latin America, incentivized-install platforms, and rating prompts that pushed store scores to 4.8; Latin American users had already been trained by ReelShort, FreeReels and the like.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't follow it into short drama; copy its distribution method into your own category: one backend shipped as multiple packages, paid acquisition in markets with low CPI and users willing to watch ads, and payback through ad revenue. The prerequisites: you need to be able to run Meta ads and withstand the policy risk of multiple packages and rating manipulation.

Grade C: the traffic comes from licensed content libraries, large paid acquisition, and a matrix of a dozen-plus shell accounts; above it in the category sit ByteDance, TikTok, and Kunlun, and below it sibling packages on the same template compete for the same traffic. You can learn a multi-package plus ad-monetization playbook from it, but copying it wholesale isn't worth it. Few people know about it yet

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations)

NiceTV is a free vertical short-drama app on Google Play, launched Aug 20, with 3.22M installs in 78 days, and in Nov 6 it ranked #9 to #11 on the Entertainment Free chart in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil. The product itself is no different from dozens of other short-drama apps; it took off because someone behind it re-skinned the same backend into a dozen-plus apps, bought users together across Latin America, and relied on users watching ads to pay back. Below: what it is, where the users come from, where the money comes from, and whether a small team can follow.

### A one-star review with 75 likes

On Sep 11, 2026, Mexican user Rafael Ramirez wrote on NiceTV's store page: "The ads are greedy. It feels like every episode is one big ad. Other apps show one every two or three episodes. Whoever built this seems to be starving." 75 people marked it as helpful, and it's the top review on the Mexico store page (Google Play Mexico, 11-06).

A day earlier, another user, Ivana González, wrote the opposite: 'The ads are very short, I don't get what there is to complain about. If it's free, of course you watch ads; if the ads bother you, pay.' 122 people marked this helpful.

Put the two reviews together and you have NiceTV's business: Latin American users want to watch short dramas for free, so it lets them watch for free, with an ad in every episode, and some of the people annoyed by the ads pay to remove them.

### What it is

Open it and you get vertical short dramas of a minute or two per episode. The Spanish store page says 'love, secrets, ambition, revenge, unexpected twists,' with the slogan 'Unos minutos. Una nueva historia.' (A few minutes, a new story). What it sells is the same as ReelShort, DramaBox, and FreeReels.

The monetization differs from the ReelShort generation. Rather than locking after a few episodes and unlocking one by one with coins, everything is free, with ads before, during, and after each episode (another user, Lorena Valeria, wrote in Sep 9: 'There are ads at the start, in the middle, and at the end, I can't finish a single episode'). There's also an in-app purchase of $7.99 to $29.99 (Google Play store page). Android only.

The data safety section on the store page says 'no data collected, no sharing with third parties.' An ad-monetized app filling that in says something about its attitude toward store rules (inference).

### How big it is and how fast it's growing

| Date | Total installs | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 2.86M | 62,129 |
| 11-03 | 3.14M | 65,705 |
| 11-06 | 3.22M | 69,016 |

Data from Google Play install counts. Weekly new installs of 360k, averaging over 40k a day.

On the charts, after Nov 3 several countries rose together: Argentina's Entertainment Free chart climbed from #39 to #9, Mexico from #40 to #10, Brazil to #11, Spain from #79 to #30; Mexico and Argentina reached #50 on the overall app Free chart. Several countries surging over the same few days usually looks like concentrated spend (inference).

The grossing chart is much weaker: #111 in Brazil Entertainment Grossing, #130 in Mexico. IAP revenue is small; the money mostly comes from ads. The third-party data site Peekly estimates its IAP at about $5,000 a month (model estimate, unverified); ad revenue is not visible from outside.

### It's not one app, it's a network

Looking only at NiceTV understates it. Under the same developer account 'KKM slimer club' there's also NiceTV Max (launched Sep 16, 550k installs, 275k new in the last 7 days) and NiceTV Pro, plus an unrelated mini-game, River Run, which looks like a bought or reused developer account.

Looking further out, from 2026 6 through September, a string of near-identical short-drama apps appeared on Google Play:

- **In-app purchases are all priced at $7.99–29.99 each** , and all of them carry ads.

- **Each one is a single app split into three packages: base, Pro, and Max** , and Pro and Max often launch the same day. Halo Reels, Drama World, ShortFly, and NiceTV all work this way.

- **The developer names are randomly generated** : KKM slimer club, Nutri Plaza, fredom lemedy, Skylark Scan, Conservative Authority...

- **The websites share one template** . Page titles read "<name> - Just watch it, it's <name>", and footers read "All rights reserved.2026 <name> LLC" (nicetvs.net, haloreels.net, anyshorts.net, and others; 11-06 checked). That slogan was originally ReelShort's ad line.

- **The terms of service read like a literal translation from Chinese** , e.g. "internet valueadded service charges" and "Consumed recharge amounts are nonrefundable". The store registration entity is LAMDAX, LLC in Utah, USA. The team is most likely in China (inferred).

This batch covers about 17 packages with roughly 50.2M installs combined, and about 7.43M new installs in the last ~7 days (Google Play installs, 11-06). NiceTV sits mid-pack, while the largest, Halo Reels alone, has 12.3M. So what actually works is the whole playbook; NiceTV is just one shell. From the outside we can't tell whether one operator runs all of them or a white-label vendor sells to several clients. We only confirmed that the AnyShort and DramaOL website footers both name REVERIE STUDIO LLC.

### Where users come from

| Channel | What we saw | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Paid acquisition (Meta, etc.) | Peekly shows about 40 live ads on Meta; 11-03 it pushed up the charts in four countries at once | Partly confirmed |
| Incentivized downloads | NiceTV Max is listed on XWorld, a platform that gives daily rewards for downloading recommended apps | Confirmed |
| Multi-package space-grabbing | The base app, Max, and Pro appear in each other's developer pages and "similar apps" sections, plus a dozen-plus sibling packages | Confirmed |
| Rating manipulation | Of 69,016 ratings, only 172 come with written reviews (0.25%). Of the Max package's 15,793 ratings, 2-star and 3-star are both 0 | Pattern confirmed, method not verified |
| Organic content, creators, media | Searching "nicetv" on TikTok only returns TV videos; nobody has mentioned it on X in the past two months; YouTube has a single Brazilian review with 105 views | None |

The ratings point deserves a closer look. NiceTV's rating count is 2.1% of its installs, while PineDrama, TikTok's own short-drama app, is 0.57%. Written reviews as a share of ratings: FreeReels 0.59%, Melolo 2.1%, NiceTV only 0.25%. Many ratings, few written reviews, and zero middle-star ratings: a common explanation is that the app first asks "do you like it?" and only sends people who say yes to the store to rate (inferred; manipulation not ruled out, unverified). That's how the store page holds its 4.8-star score, and the 4.8-star score helps ads convert.

### Where the money comes from, and why Latin America

Paid acquisition is cheap in Latin America, users have low willingness to pay, but they will watch ads. NiceTV's math roughly works like this: buy installs through Meta and incentive channels in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil, earn ad impression revenue on each episode, and add a bit of in-app purchase. The profit is the spread between acquisition cost and ad revenue (inferred; real revenue isn't public).

This market has already been educated by others. ReelShort and DramaBox each have over 300M installs, FreeReels 246M, ByteDance's Melolo 147M, and TikTok's PineDrama reached 84M in under a year after launch. In early November it ranked #2 on Brazil's entertainment chart (Google Play installs, 11-06). "Free short dramas" needs no explaining to users; NiceTV just has to show up in front of them.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Scale (Google Play installs) | How NiceTV differs |
|---|---|---|
| ReelShort / DramaBox | each 300M+ | Original productions or owned rights, mainly coin unlocks, near the top of Top Grossing |
| FreeReels / DramaWave | 246M / 152M | The top of the free-with-ads model |
| Melolo | 147M | ByteDance, leading in Indonesia |
| PineDrama | 84M, +3.01M in a week | Made by TikTok, with built-in traffic |
| BlinkDrama, StoryReel, FreeDrama, etc. | 10M–43M | Same-period newcomers, building real brands |
| Halo Reels and other same-template siblings | ~50M combined | Nearly identical to NiceTV |

NiceTV is a small player here. It survives because its cost structure is light: no licensing, no brand building. If one shell stops working, they switch to the next.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : Learn the playbook, but don't enter this category. Free short dramas in Latin America are already crowded, with ByteDance, TikTok, and Kunlun Wanwei on top, dozens of going-global teams in the middle, and a dozen reskinned shells underneath fighting over the same cheap traffic. If a small team goes in now, the most likely outcome is paying tuition to Meta.

**Who it suits** : Going-global teams already spending on Meta or incentive channels, with cash flow and the ability to judge payback day by day; people who can license a white-label short-drama backend and a content library.

**Who it doesn't suit** : Indie developers who have never run paid ads (this business has no product moat, only a distribution moat); anyone whose cash can't cover one or two months of losses; anyone afraid of account bans (Google Play penalizes duplicate apps, incentivized ratings, and rating manipulation, and one flagged account can drag down a whole group).

**How to do it** : If you want to borrow from it, transplant the playbook into your own category rather than copying short dramas. Split one backend into base, Pro, and Max packages and list them separately; pick markets with low CPI that accept ads, like Latin America or Southeast Asia; offer free with ads, no paywall, and sell only ad removal; ask users in-app whether they're satisfied, then invite the satisfied ones to rate in the store (a gray area, so follow Google's rules).

**How to acquire users** : Lead with Meta short-video ads, backfilled by incentive download platforms; have multiple packages cross-promote through developer pages and "similar apps"; measure payback by country and add budget where payback is fastest.

**When to get in** : There's no clear window. The value of this playbook is that it works anytime and depends little on timing, but the short-drama category gets more crowded the later you arrive.

**What would mean you've got it wrong** : ① If this batch of same-template packages gets pulled from Google Play en masse in the next month or two, the window for the multi-package approach is closing, and the playbook is worth less. ② Conversely, if NiceTV and its siblings were still climbing and moving up the Top Grossing chart at the start of 2027, Latin American free dramas still have room, and small players can still catch some of it. ③ If a single, non-matrix free drama with no large ad budget reaches a million installs in Latin America through content or community, there's an opportunity beyond distribution.

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (Meta, etc.)** : Peekly lists 40 active Meta Ads (unverified); 11-03 to 11-06 it climbed the charts in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain at the same time; our ad library did not track it

- **Confirmed** **Incentives / offer walls** : NiceTV Max is listed on the XWorld rewards platform (xworld.biz/products/159646)

## Why NiceTV (com.nicetv.stream) broke out

> Google Play / Entertainment / Developer "KKM slimer club" (store registration entity LAMDAX, LLC, Utah, USA) / listed 2026-08-20 / research day 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

NiceTV didn't break out on its own. It's one shell in a **matrix of reskinned short-drama apps** . From 2026 6 through September, at least 17 packages from 10 randomly named developer accounts used the same template: identical website layouts, identical in-app purchase pricing, all with ads, all with Pro / Max variants, roughly 50.2M installs combined. They target Latin America (Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, plus Spain and the Philippines) with "free short dramas + ads between episodes." NiceTV's growth came from distribution: paid acquisition, incentive channels, store rating manipulation, and multi-package space-grabbing. The product itself has no differentiation; content and format match the FreeReels, Melolo, and PineDrama free-drama line. Money comes mainly from ads, with very little in-app purchase.

### I. Data (googleplay library, 2026-10-29 to 11-06)

- Cumulative installs **3,220,777** , listed for 78 days, averaging about 41k per day; 7 new in the last 361,156 days (data card). 10-29 is 2,859,621,11-06 and rose 361k in 3,220,777,8 days.

- 69,016 ratings, 4.7 stars (US store listing); the Mexico store page shows 4.8 stars and 69k reviews, with the download tier "1M+" (Google Play Mexico page, 2026-11-06).

- Entertainment Top Free chart (googleplay.chart_rank): Argentina 11→39→**9** , Mexico 22→40→**10** , Brazil 26→**11** , Spain 58→79→**30** , US 180→150. From 11-03 to 11-06 all storefronts climbed together, like a coordinated paid push; on the overall app chart, Mexico and Argentina reached #50.

- Top Grossing: #111 in Brazil entertainment, #130 in Mexico entertainment, #186 in Indonesia entertainment, with very little in-app purchase revenue. Peekly's model estimates about $5k in monthly revenue (peekly.app, model estimate, unverified).

- Monetization: `ad_supported=True`, in-app purchases $7.99–$29.99 each (app_snap). Reviews on Play complain "you have to watch an ad after every episode, other apps do one every two or three" (Rafael Ramirez, Mexico store, 2026-09-11,75 people found it helpful), and others say "there are ads at the start, middle, and end" (Lorena Valeria, 2026-09-09).

- Clone **NiceTV Max** (com.nicetv.stream.max, listed 2026-09-16): 554K installs, +275K in the last 7 days. Outside the store there's also **NiceTV Pro** (com.nicetv.stream.pro, visible on the Play developer page) and com.nicetv.nicetv2026.movies (indexed by AppBrain). AppGazers counts 4 apps on this developer account. The same account also holds an unrelated game, River Run (com.hdrth.riverrun), which suggests a bought or reused developer account.

### II. Competitors

The free / ad-supported short drama niche was already crowded, and NiceTV is a late, small player (all install figures from the googleplay library 2026-11-06):

| Product | Launched | Scale | How it differs from NiceTV |
|---|---|---|---|
| ReelShort (NewLeaf / Maple Interactive) | 2022-08 | 307M installs, +5.51M in 7 days | Original shows, mainly pay-to-unlock, near the top of the Top Grossing chart |
| DramaBox(STORYMATRIX) | 2023-04 | 307M | Owns its catalog, heavy paid acquisition, top 10 Top Grossing |
| FreeReels / DramaWave(SKYWORK) | 2024 | 246M / 152M | The leader of the 'free + ads' model, in-app purchases $0.99–299.99 |
| Melolo (POLIGON / ByteDance family) | 2024-11 | 147M | Free short dramas, leading in Indonesia |
| PineDrama(TikTok) | 2025-12 | 84M, +3.01M in 7 days | Big-tech traffic, #2 in Brazil's Entertainment chart |
| NetShort, GoodShort, ShortMax, FlickReels | 2023–2024 | 39M–160M | Veteran global short-drama apps |
| BlinkDrama, StoryReel, VibeShort, FreeDrama | first half of 2026 | 10M–43M | New players from the same period, an order of magnitude bigger than NiceTV |
| **Same-template matrix** : Halo Reels / Pro / Max (Nutri Plaza), DramaOL (fredom lemedy), Drama World / Pro / Max (Skylark Scan), AnyShort (The New Step), ShortFly Pro / Max (Conservative Authority), Vega Drama, Mova TV, TopDrama Pro, Glint Reels, Sweet Short | 2026-06 to 09 | The 17 packages together add up to about 50.2M installs, with about +7.43M in the last 7 days | Almost identical to NiceTV, see the next section |

### 3. Key finding: NiceTV is one of a matrix of re-skins

Searching the googleplay library for apps whose in-app price range is exactly '$7.99 - $29.99 per item' (2026-11-06) turns up a string of short-drama apps from 2026 6 to September, all with identical traits:

- **Developer names randomly assembled** : KKM slimer club, Nutri Plaza, fredom lemedy, Skylark Scan, Conservative Authority, The New Step, Yonder Trade, JUYIXING TRADING, JigsawInvest, ZEST PROTEIN…

- **Each package has its own domain, and the sites share one template** : page titles all read '<name> - Just watch it, it's <name>', footers all read 'All rights reserved.2026 <name> LLC' (checked on nicetvs.net, haloreels.net, dramafuture.com, anyshorts.net, dramlyol.com). The footers of AnyShort and DramaOL both say 'REVERIE STUDIO LLC'. This slogan was originally ReelShort's ad line (Meta ads indexed by admanage.ai). An identical template page also sits on dev-pc.tinyflixtv.com, which may be the template source; not verified.

- **All have Pro / Max clones** : Halo Reels, Drama World, ShortFly and NiceTV each released Pro and Max packages on the same day, taking several store and search slots at once.

- **Identical rating structure** : many ratings, few written reviews. NiceTV has 69,016 ratings but only 172 written reviews (0.25%). NiceTV Max has 15,793 ratings but only 13 reviews (0.08%), and its 2-star and 3-star counts are exactly 0. Control group: FreeReels 0.59%, PineDrama 1.6%, Melolo 2.1%. NiceTV's rating rate per install (2.1%) is nearly 4 times PineDrama's (0.57%). This suggests heavy in-app rating prompts (star-based routing that sends only good ratings to the store), and rating manipulation can't be ruled out (unverified).

- **The terms of service are a literal translation of Chinese legal boilerplate** , e.g. 'the fees collected are internet valueadded service charges' (value-added internet service fees), 'Consumed recharge amounts are nonrefundable'. The snapshot's update time is in the +08 time zone. The team is most likely in China, with the US LLC as a shell (inference).

Conclusion: what this shows is not 'the NiceTV product' but an operator (or several clients of a white-label provider) running one short-drama backend, one catalog, and one ad-monetization SDK, mass-producing accounts to flood the market. NiceTV ranks mid-pack in this batch (around #8).

### 4. Where users come from (growth levers)

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Paid acquisition (Meta, etc.) | The Peekly page says 'Meta Ads 40 active' (the exact number requires login; not verified). The rise in charts from 11-03 to 11-06 across regions is the typical shape of paid campaigns, and the short-drama niche as a whole runs on Meta ads (Business Insider 2026-10). Our metaads / tiktokads libraries don't track this app, so not finding it there doesn't mean it isn't advertised. | Partial |
| Incentive / points walls | The NiceTV Max clone is listed on XWorld (xworld.biz/products/159646). XWorld is a platform that pays daily rewards for installing and playing recommended apps and games (com.xworld.free.welfare.game.app.io on Google Play), i.e. incentivized installs. | Yes (Max package) |
| Multi-package slot-filling | The main app plus Max, Pro and nicetv2026 make 4 packages, with a dozen or more sibling packages on the same template. Play 'similar apps' and developer pages cross-promote them. | Yes |
| Store rating operations | High rating rate, almost no written reviews, abnormal star distribution, store page showing 4.8 stars | Yes (the pattern is confirmed; the method is unverified) |
| Store search / charts | Reached the top 10–11 of the Latin American entertainment chart, and chart exposure feeds organic installs | Yes |
| Organic content / creators / media | A TikTok search for 'nicetv' only turns up TV-set videos; X corpus has 0 posts in the last ~60 days; YouTube has only one Brazilian review with 105 views; no media coverage | None |

How the money comes back: an ad plays between episodes (confirmed by user reviews), earning ad impressions (IAA), plus $7.99–29.99 in coin / VIP in-app purchases. It sits outside the top 111 on the grossing chart, so in-app purchases contribute little. The model is arbitrage in markets like Latin America, where CPI is cheap, with ad impressions paying back the acquisition cost. Latin American users have low willingness to pay but watch a lot of ads, which is why this market was chosen.

### 5. Why it works

1. **The category has already been educated** : ReelShort, DramaBox, FreeReels and PineDrama have already taught Latin America about short dramas through heavy paid acquisition, so the 'watch short dramas for free' demand already exists and users don't need convincing.

2. **Free plus ads, fitted to Latin America's low willingness to pay** : no paywall, an ad between episodes, low barrier to download. A review says 'free should mean ads' (Ivana González, 122 people found it helpful).

3. **Matrix flooding** : one template produces a dozen shells and dozens of packages, spreading the risk when a single package is delisted or throttled, while holding more chart, search and similar-app slots.

4. **Store rating operations** : ratings 4.7–4.8, almost no written reviews, with conversion propped up by the ratings.

5. **Acquisition rhythm** : after 11-03, charts were pushed simultaneously in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Spain, paired with incentivized channels.

### VI. Differentiation

Essentially none. The content and format are no different from dozens of apps in the same category, and even the website slogan was copied from ReelShort. Its 'difference' lies only in the playbook: re-skin matrix, Latin American ad monetization, rating operations, multi-package clones. So what makes it work is distribution and capital efficiency, not differentiation.

### VII. Visibility and copycats

- **Few people know about it yet** : no TrustMRR listing or founder revenue posts, no discussion on X, TikTok or the media, only automatic pages from data sites like Peekly, AppGazers and Apptopia.

- "Copycatting" is the whole playbook here: Halo Reels (12.3M, 4x NiceTV), DramaOL, Drama World, AnyShort, ShortFly and others. Same batch is more accurate.

### VIII. Takeaways

- The chain of short-drama white-label backends, catalog licensing and ad SDKs is mature. A small team using account farming, re-skins and paid acquisition can reach several million installs per package in Latin America, but it earns the spread between acquisition cost and ad revenue, which is heavily dependent on ad-buying capability and cash flow.

- Pro / Max clones taking slots, star-based routing to steer good ratings, and points-wall listings are all store-operations tactics that can be copied.

- Risks: Google Play has policies against duplicate content / spam apps and rating manipulation, so matrix accounts could be bulk-actioned at any time; the source of the content rights is unclear.

### 9. Uncertain

- Where the content comes from (licensed distribution, AI generation, or pirated re-uploads) is unverified. A YouTube review title mentions 'IA', which may mean AI-made short dramas.

- Whether the matrix is one operator or several clients of a white-label provider: REVERIE STUDIO LLC appears on both AnyShort and DramaOL, the rest is unknown.

- How many Meta ads are running and the spend; whether the ratings were prompted or manufactured.

- Real revenue (ad income is not visible through public channels).
