# A designer who spent 16 years making icon packs built his own launcher: One4Home, 140K installs, #6 in Germany's Personalization Top Grossing

**What it is** : a free, ad-free Android home screen launcher that swaps whole themes in one tap and lets you see changes live on the real home screen. Pro is sold as an annual subscription and a one-time purchase.

**Why it took off** : Nova Launcher stopped being maintained and was then sold, leaving a group of paying customizers looking for a replacement. The creator brought his own theme and icon library and existing users, then pushed growth with YouTube ads.

**C** **How you could follow** : don't copy a launcher. If you already have content and paying users, learn from it and build a downstream 「container」 that turns content into a paid feature, then pick up users from a major product's problems with migration import and 「X alternative」 pages.

C grade: it depends on a decade-plus content library, existing paying users, and a window from Nova's collapse that is now over a year old. Followers can't get those; launchers are technically hard and the category is old and crowded. The thinking is worth learning, but copying the product isn't worth it. Being talked about in small circles

Serbian designer Vuk Andric sold Android icon packs and wallpapers for 16 years, then in Aug 2026 14 launched his own launcher, One4Home. Within under three months it hit 140K installs and reached #6 in the Personalization Top Grossing charts in Germany and Brazil. He caught the gap left by Nova Launcher's collapse, and he had something no other launcher has: an entire library of themes and icons he drew himself. Below: what it sells, where the installs and money come from, who it's competing with, and whether you should follow it.

### An idea that has existed for 2020 years, and waited six of them

Andric wrote on a developer contest entry page about why he built it: over more than a decade, every icon set, wallpaper and widget he made got stuck at the launcher. You go into settings, change one thing, go back to the home screen to see it, don't like it, go back again. Users give up after a few rounds.

「I had the idea for One2020Home 4 years ago, but couldn't find a developer willing to build it with me, so I waited. This year I wrote it myself.」

The problem he wanted to solve fits in one sentence: make the launcher itself a design tool, where every change shows up immediately on the real home screen.

In Oct 5, a German user on a Samsung Fold 8 left a five-star review: 「I used Nova from the start, then tried Smart Launcher and Good Lock on the Fold, and always felt something was missing. I found it here.」 In German reviews, this 「Nova veteran has arrived」 sentiment keeps showing up.

### What it is

An Android home screen launcher: an app that replaces your phone's built-in home screen. Free, no ads, no account required. Three core selling points:

- **Studio** : long-press an empty spot on the home screen to open the editor. A live mini home screen sits at the top, and below you change icons, wallpaper, widgets, layout and the app drawer, with the top updating immediately.

- **One-tap full themes** : wallpaper, icons, widgets, dock and folders change together; you can also swap just some of them and keep app positions. Themes, icons and wallpapers are all drawn by the creator.

- **Trendy visuals** : Liquid Glass (translucent glassy widgets and dock, following the iOS 26 style), depth-of-field wallpapers (a person or building in the photo sits in front of the clock), and a small character called 「Pal」 that walks around the home screen.

And the features power users want: up to 12 columns × 18 rows, a grid that allows half-cell placement, separate layouts for phone, foldable cover and inner screens, tablets and landscape mode, two-finger swipe down to switch between 「personal」 and 「work」 home screens, and import of Nova backup files.

### Where the installs come from: YouTube ads, existing users, Nova refugees

**Installs** (Google Play, 10-29 to 11-06): 110,486 → up about 20k over 139,941,7 days, roughly 2,900 a day; the first 76 days averaged roughly 1,450 a day, so it's accelerating. 1,718 ratings, 4.81 stars, 86% five-star, adding about 45 to 77 new ratings a day.

**Promo videos on YouTube, probably bought traffic.** On Aug 26, the author's personal channel posted 5 promo videos in one day, with ad-style titles: "Customize Every Detail of Android" 246k views, 2 comments; "Transform Your Android Home Screen in Seconds" 173k views, 1 comments. The Sep 25 video "Meet One4Home" has 220k views and only 13 likes (YouTube, 11-06). The channel's other videos get a few hundred views. Views and engagement are off by several orders of magnitude, which is what YouTube ad creative typically looks like (inferred; country and budget aren't visible).

**Existing users.** The author's wallpaper app One4Wall has 1.46M installs, and there's a string of icon packs including Vera and Caelus. The official site claims 40 apps and 3M downloads. A German user wrote: "I already have several of your icon packs... happy to buy Pro." Another said it "works really well with the other One4 apps." One4Home is sold as the home for all of this content.

**Nova refugees.** Nova Launcher is the old guard of Android customization, used for over a decade. 2025 September its founder left and development stalled (9 to 5 Google). 2026 January it was acquired by Instabridge, and The Verge reported the new owner was considering ads. The One4Home site has a dedicated "Nova Launcher alternative" page that walks you through exporting a Nova backup and importing it, plus four comparison pages against Niagara, Lawnchair, Smart Launcher, and Microsoft Launcher, all marked "updated 2026 August."

**Community reputation.** It ran an open beta post on Reddit's r/HowToMen and posted [Promotion] several times on r/androidthemes. r/AndroidHomescreen has organic showcase posts with titles like "One4Home Launcher is Amazing." Brazilian creator ODORIZZI posted "AGORA SIM! PERSONALIZE TUDO... LIQUID GLASS + TEMAS" in Oct 23, with 22k views and 72 comments. Its 6 place on Brazil's top grossing chart may be related (whether it was a paid partnership is unverified).

### Where the money comes from: few installs, high share of payers

Its free chart ranking is mediocre: #71 in Germany and #187 in Japan for personalization. But its grossing ranking is high: #6 in Germany and Brazil, #16 in the US, #22 in India (Google Play, 11-06). On the German chart, only Niagara, Zedge, Smart Launcher 6, Facer, and Projectivy rank above it, all established products with several million to tens of millions of installs. **Reaching that spot with 140k installs means a very high share of users pay.**

Monetization: core features are free. Pro is an annual subscription (7-day free trial) or a one-time purchase, unlocking the full theme library, free placement, a second home screen, Liquid Glass, depth effects, and daily wallpapers. It also sells an icon-pack priority bundle and collectible Pal characters. The in-app purchase range listed on the store is $2.99 to $99.99.

Reviews show the author adjusting prices: "When I first installed it, the one-time purchase was barely 20 euros, now it's 27.99 euros, a bit much." (German store, 10-13) Some "bought Pro after 30 minutes of use," while others gave one star: "Garbage subscription, release a one-time-purchase Pro." Another one-star review said "looks very much like AI-generated, 14 euros is too expensive, I'd buy it at 7 or 8 euros."

Revenue isn't public, the author hasn't shared it, and no third-party revenue estimate was found.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | How it differs from One4Home |
|---|---|---|
| Nova Launcher(+Prime) | 115M installs, Prime 6.88M | The old guard: no longer updated, changed hands, may add ads. The users it leaves behind are One4Home's target audience. |
| Niagara Launcher | 18M; 7 days +210k; personalization grossing #1 in DE and BR | Minimalist list style. One4Home is a multi-page grid plus a full theme set, the opposite direction. |
| Smart Launcher 6 | 55.3M, 7 days +106k | Automatic categorization and modular design. Has no content library of its own. |
| Lawnchair | Open source, only a beta on Play | Pixel-style, free, no commercial theme offering |
| Re-skin theme apps such as ThemeKit and Launcher OS | Millions to tens of millions | Mostly iOS-style, monetized with ads. One4Home is not iOS-style, has no ads, and charges heavy users. |
| Samsung Good Lock / One UI Home | Preinstalled on Samsung phones | Built into the system, limited freedom in layout and theming |

Third-party launchers are an old category with plenty of products. One4Home occupies a very specific spot: **a traditional Nova-style grid launcher, plus theme-store-style one-tap full-look customization, plus no ads and one-time purchase and annual subscription.** Since Nova fell, no product in that spot has kept shipping fast updates. Its version number has reached 0.5.156, and reviews often mention "frequent updates" and "fast developer replies."

### How many people see it

Few. XDA, Android Authority, and Android Police have not covered it; there's no discussion on X; the official TikTok account gets only a few thousand views per post. A German user wrote in the reviews: "I don't understand why so few people know about this launcher." It mainly circulates on Reddit's customization subreddits and small YouTube reviews. No copycat product was found. A batch of "Liquid Glass launchers" appeared in the same period, but those follow iOS 26 styling, not this one.

### If it were you

**Verdict: you can learn from it, but copying this launcher isn't worth it.** It took off thanks to three things followers can't get: over a decade of accumulated themes and icon content, a group of old users who already pay the author, and the one-time window of Nova's collapse (now over a year ago). A newcomer building a reliable home screen from scratch (it must appear first on every unlock and can't crash), then competing with Niagara and Smart Launcher for the same users, has high costs and low odds.

**Who it suits:** creators who already have content and paying users, such as people making icon packs, wallpapers, fonts, widgets, watch faces, or keyboard skins. The idea worth borrowing: build a "container" downstream, turn your own content into paid features inside it, then move existing customers in.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie developers with no content of their own who only know how to code, and people who want to build "yet another launcher."

**How to do it:**

- Find a place where your content is choked by a bottleneck. Andric was choked by the launcher; watch-face makers are choked by the watch app, keyboard-skin makers by the input method, and Notion template makers by Notion itself.

- Watch the leading products that are in trouble: no longer updated, acquired, or about to add ads. Build a dedicated "migrate from X" import feature, plus an "X alternative" page and a few comparison pages to catch search traffic.

- Core features free, no ads, with an annual subscription plus one-time purchase. The price per customer has to be high enough to pay for YouTube ads.

**How to acquire users:** first launch a beta on subreddits that allow [Promotion], like r/androidthemes, and collect people who share screenshots. Then run YouTube ads with 30-second vertical videos about "one-tap full-look" changes. Work with mid-sized creators in markets like Brazil and Germany, where willingness to pay is decent and competition is less crowded, to do reviews.

**When is the window:** the peak of migration is roughly six months to a year after a leading product gets into trouble. This Nova wave has passed its hottest point, so if you want to follow it, look for the next product in trouble.

**Signs you've misread it:** if One4Home's growth stalls at two or three thousand a day in the coming months and its grossing rank falls out of Germany's top 20, this wave of traffic was mostly bought and paying users can't sustain the ad spend. If Nova's new owner doesn't add ads and resumes updates, users return and the gap itself disappears.

| Samsung Good Lock / One UI Home | Big-company features | Preinstalled | Preinstalled on Samsung phones | Built into the system, limited freedom in themes and layout |

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid YouTube promotion** : the founder's channel posted 5 promo videos on 2026-08-26 in one day, each with 75k–246k views and 0–2 comments. The 09-25 video has 220k views but only 13 likes, a severe mismatch between views and engagement (YouTube Data API)

- **Confirmed** **Cross-promotion within own catalog / existing user migration** : the author has made icon packs for 16 years (Vera, Lena, Caelus, etc.), and the One4Wall wallpaper app has 1.46M installs. German reviews say "I already have several of your icon packs" and "works well with the other One4 apps."

- **Confirmed** **Nova migration + SEO** : the site has /nova-launcher-alternative, 4 comparison pages, and 33 help articles. The product supports importing Nova backups. Reviews repeatedly mention "years-long Nova user."

- **Confirmed** **Community promotion on Reddit** : an open beta post on r/HowToMen, at least two [Promotion] posts on r/androidthemes, and organic showcase posts on r/AndroidHomescreen.

- **Confirmed** **Creator reviews** : Brazilian creator ODORIZZI's 2026-10-23 video has 22k views and 72 comments. There are also reviews from smaller Hindi and Spanish channels (whether paid partnerships is unverified).

- **Confirmed** **RevenueCat Shipaton 2026** : listed on Devpost and the Shipaton showcase, did not win.

## One4Home: Launcher & Themes (com.one4studio.one4home): why it broke out

In one line: an Android home-screen launcher written by Vuk Andric (One4Studio), an independent Serbian designer who spent 16 years making icon packs. It puts "one-tap full-look theming + a visual editor (Studio) that previews live on the real home screen + Liquid Glass / depth wallpapers" into a free, ad-free launcher that needs no account, and sells Pro as an annual subscription and a one-time purchase. It caught the gap left after Nova Launcher fell (2025-09) and was sold to a new owner likely to add ads (2026-01).

### 1. Data (our googleplay library, 2026-10-29 ~ 11-06)

- Global cumulative installs 110,486 (10-29) → 139,941 (11-06), up 20,245 over 7 days, about 2.9k/day. Store launch was 2026-08-14; the first 76 days averaged about 1.45k/day, showing acceleration. AppBrain reports "100k installs in the last 30 days" (appbrain.com, unverified).

- Rating 1,274 → 1,718, steadily gaining 45–77 reviews a day; average 4.81, histogram [16,16,16,165,1486], five-star share 86%.

- Grossing chart: personalization grossing rank #6 in Germany, #6 in Brazil, #16 in the US, #22 in India. Another dozen-plus small storefronts all show #23, which is the same aggregate chart and counts as noise. Over 9 days it charted 29–32 times a day, with its best rank always #6. On the German personalization grossing chart, only Niagara, Zedge, Smart Launcher 6, Facer, and Projectivy (11-06) rank above it. On the US chart it sits between ThemeKit and Icon Pack Studio.

- Free chart: personalization rank #71 (DE) to #187 (JP), average. This shows its profile: **strong paid conversion with modest download volume** . 140k installs was enough to reach #6 on Germany's grossing chart.

- In-app purchases $2.99–$99.99. Per the Devpost write-up, Pro is a yearly subscription with a 7-day trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase. There's also an icon-request pack and collectible "Pals" mini-characters. One German review says the lifetime price went from under €20 to €27.99 (review table, 2026-10-13).

- The German reviews we pulled are the only sample in our database (56 reviews, average 4.54). 6 of them mention Nova, with lines like "long-time Nova user / tried Nova and Smart Launcher, this one's the best", "I already have several of your icon packs", and "bought Pro within 30 minutes".

- The same developer has 6 apps in our database, roughly 1.71M installs combined, led by the One4Wall wallpaper app (1.46M). Icon packs include Vera, Caelus, and Nova Dark; there's also One2026-07-06Widgets on 4 (16k). Their site claims 40+ apps and 3M downloads (one4studio.com/about).

### 2. Competitors

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (googleplay library, 11-06) | How it differs from One4Home |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nova Launcher(+Prime) | Android | 2012 | 115M installs; Prime 6.88M | Customization's old guard. 2025-09 founder left and development stalled; 2026-01 was sold to Instabridge, with press saying ads were coming. One4Home lets you import Nova backups to take over that base. |
| Niagara Launcher | Android | 2021 | 18M, 7 days +210k; #1 Top Grossing in Germany and Brazil | Minimal list-style. One4Home is a multi-page grid plus themes, the opposite direction. |
| Smart Launcher 6 | Android | 2012 | 55.3M, 7 days +106k; Top Grossing #2–4 | Auto-sorting and modular. One4Home relies on full visual themes plus no ads. |
| Lawnchair | Open source | From ¥2017 | Not on the Play charts (beta on GitHub / Play) | Pixel-style, free and open source; One4Home is a commercial visual studio. |
| Microsoft Launcher | Android / big-company launchers | 2015 | 70.1M | Office-leaning / Microsoft ecosystem |
| ThemeKit, ThemeWave, Launcher OS: iOS-style reskin apps | Android | Most are 2020+ years old | Millions to tens of millions | Mostly iOS imitations monetized with ads; One4Home doesn't imitate iOS, has no ads, and sells Pro. |
| Projectivy Launcher | Android TV | — | 1.79M | TV-focused, only co-listed on the Top Grossing chart |
| Samsung Good Lock / One UI Home | Big-company features | — | Preinstalled | System-built, with limited freedom over themes and grids |

Bottom line: "third-party Android launcher" is an old category with no shortage of competitors. One4Home targets a specific gap: **a Nova-style classic grid launcher + one-tap full-theme makeover like a theme store + no ads, one-time or subscription** . Since Nova collapsed, no active, fast-iterating product fills that spot.

### 3. Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **Paid YouTube promotion (high confidence, but I didn't see the ad dashboard directly)** : the founder's channel Vuk Andric uploaded 5 promo videos on 2026-08-26, the same day, with views from 75k to 246k and only 0–2 comments. The "Meet One4Home" video reached 220k views 09-25 but has only 13 likes and 4 comments. Other videos on the same channel get only a few hundred views. A gap of several orders of magnitude between views and engagement is typical of Google Ads / YouTube paid creatives (YouTube Data API, 2026-11-06 queries).

2. **Existing-user migration / cross-promotion from their own catalog** : the author has made icon packs for 16 years, including Vera, Lena, Ares, and Caelus, and the One4Wall wallpaper app has 1.46M installs. German reviews say things like "I already have several of your icon packs" and "works well with your other One4 apps." The website positions One4Home as the "home" for One4Wall and the icon packs.

3. **Nova migration + SEO** : the site has /nova-launcher-alternative and 4 comparison pages under /compare (vs Niagara / Lawnchair / Smart Launcher / Microsoft), all marked "Updated August 2026"; plus 33 help docs. The product includes "import Nova backup." Launcher roundups such as itechguides already list it (7.4/10,2026-10-03).

4. **Niche promotion on Reddit** : an open-beta post on r/HowToMen; at least two [Promotion] posts on r/androidthemes; and organic showcase posts on r/AndroidHomescreen ("One4Home is f-ing goated", "One4Home Launcher is Amazing", "Playing around with One4Home"). These are titles surfaced by Jina / Exa; the post bodies were blocked by Reddit and I didn't read them.

5. **达人** :巴西博主 ODORIZZI 2026-10-23 发了「AGORA SIM! PERSONALIZE TUDO… LIQUID GLASS + TEMAS」,2.2 万播放、72 条评论,巴西畅销第 6 可能和它有关(是否付费合作未核实)。另有印地语、西语小频道的测评,都在千级播放。

6. **TikTok / Facebook** : the official TikTok account one4studio gets 2–6k views per video, a small volume. The Facebook page posts "Can your iPhone do this"-style videos; whether they're boosted is unverified. Our X corpus (x-radar, 90 days) has no mentions at all.

7. **RevenueCat Shipaton 2026 entry** : the project page is at devpost.com/software/one4home and apps.shipaton.com. It's not on any of the 58 winners lists (no One4 on the winners page). Entering mainly buys exposure; its contribution to volume isn't visible.

### 4. Why it took off

- **Timing** : Nova stopped updating (2025-09to9Google, Android Authority), was acquired by Instabridge 5, The Verge reported the new owner was "evaluating ads," and Android Authority ran "no reason left to stay with Nova" 2026-01 2026-02. A large group of players willing to pay for a launcher went looking for a replacement. "Long-time Nova user" shows up a lot in the German reviews.

- **Product** : the core difference is Studio, which lets you see changes live on your real desktop. Next is one-tap full-theme apply, with the option to use just parts of a theme. Add Liquid Glass (riding the iOS 26 visual trend), depth wallpapers, layouts split by foldable / tablet / landscape, and dual Space. Rating 4.81, updates very frequently (version 0.5.156; reviews often say "Updates folgen häufig").

- **Resources** : the author has design skills, a library of themes / icons / wallpapers, and a paying base of long-time users built over years. Other launchers can't pull off themes because they don't have the content.

- **Money** : no ads, a free core, with payment concentrated in Pro (subscription + lifetime). That's how it reached #6 in German Personalization Top Grossing with so few installs. Acquisition relies mainly on YouTube ads, and paid acquisition only pays back with high-ticket lifetime / yearly purchases like this.

### 5. Differentiation

Compared with Nova / Smart Launcher / Lawnchair, which are settings-heavy launchers, it's a three-in-one: launcher + content store + live editor. Themes, icons, wallpapers, and widgets are all the author's own content, applied with one tap, and you see the real home screen as you edit. Compared with reskin ad-supported apps like Launcher OS / ThemeKit, it has no ads, doesn't imitate iOS, and charges its power users. This differentiation is **genuinely why conversion is high** (reviews: "bought Pro within 30 minutes", "I already have your icon packs"). But reaching 3k installs in 140 months owes more to the timing of Nova's collapse plus YouTube paid acquisition.

### 6. How many people have seen it

- Revenue isn't public (no TrustMRR record found, and no founder revenue posts). The Devpost write-up doesn't give revenue figures either.

- 主流媒体(XDA、Android Authority、9to5Google、Android Police)没写过专门的报道;XDA 2026-10 的「underrated launcher」写的是 Lynx,不是它。X 上零讨论。

- Circulating only in Reddit's Android customization circles and small YouTube reviews. → **Spreading within small communities** .

- Copycats: none clearly identified. "Liquid Glass launchers" is a concurrent wave (e.g., Glass OS and liquid.glass.launcher.homescreen on r/HowToMen); these ride the iOS 26 style and aren't copying One4Home.

### 7. Takeaways

- Content creators (icon / wallpaper makers) are moving downstream into "container" products (launchers), turning their content into a moat and a paid hook, then bringing existing users in.

- Seize the window of a dominant product's collapse: build a dedicated "migrate from X" import feature and SEO landing pages.

- A free, ad-free core + yearly subscription / lifetime purchase, high ticket size, is what can support YouTube paid acquisition.

- Start with open betas in subreddits like r/HowToMen and r/androidthemes that allow [Promotion] posts.

### 8. Uncertain

- The YouTube ads are inferred from play/engagement ratios and weren't verified in the Google Ads Transparency Center. Target countries and budgets are unknown.

- Why Germany is especially strong: maybe the distribution of the old icon pack users, maybe German-language ad targeting, or maybe just a low bar for reaching the German Top Grossing chart. Not verified.

- Actual revenue, subscription vs. lifetime split: unknown; what the $99.99 tier refers to is also unconfirmed.

- Reddit post bodies not read (blocked).
