Purrsy: Sticker Maker · DAI DUONG TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMEN AND INVESTMENT

Two sticker apps whose update timestamps are only 2 seconds apart: Purrsy, from a Vietnamese reskin pipeline

What it is A free Android tool that automatically cuts out photos and turns them into cute cat-style stickers, exported to WhatsApp with one tap. It makes money from ads.

Why it took off It isn't the product itself. A Vietnamese publisher used the same template to launch about 10 shells, bought ads in Spanish and Portuguese, and pushed them up the Art & Design free charts in low-barrier markets like Italy and Spain. 80k installs, 0 rating. It peaked right after launch and has declined steadily since.

DHow you could follow it Don't copy this shell. Photo-to-sticker is already free through WhatsApp and phone system features. If you want in, find a specific step the platforms haven't covered (for example, moving stickers saved from TikTok into WhatsApp), and acquire users through organic content in local languages.

Grade D: The app itself is a product of a copycat pipeline. Its core feature is offered free by the platforms, the same matrix already has ten shells with ratings around 2, and the newest batch is getting the least traction. Indie devs without a matrix or ad shells can't capture the arbitrage it's running on. Few people know about it yet

Purrsy is a small Android tool that cuts out photos into cute stickers and exports them to WhatsApp. It was listed in Sep 26 and had about 80k installs by Nov 6, ranking on the Art & Design free charts in 10 countries including Spain and Italy. It looks like a new product gaining traction, but it isn't: it's one of September's shells from a Vietnamese reskin pipeline, with the same template under at least 10 developer accounts, earning money through paid acquisition and ads. There's nothing here to copy directly. What's worth watching is how this pipeline operates and why it's stopped working as well.

Evening updates on Oct 5

In Oct 2026 5 18:52:51, an app called "Sticker Fun: Sticker Maker" on Google Play pushed an update, with a developer account belonging to a Vietnamese construction company called HOP LUC CONSTRUCTION. Two seconds later, 18:52:53, Purrsy also updated, under another Vietnamese company, DAI DUONG TECHNOLOGY. Both apps launched the same day (Sep 26) (public Google Play data).

Both websites have identical structures: hosted on free Netlify subdomains (purrsy-maker.netlify.app, stickerfun-maker.netlify.app), with the second-screen heading "Make it, decorate it, share it," followed by "A peek inside the app" and "Every screen below is a real part of…" Only the names and tone differ. Purrsy's "Neat Edges" feature is "Clean Cutouts" on Sticker Fun; Purrsy's "Decorate Cutely" is "Make It Yours" on Sticker Fun. Both sets of images sit on the same asset site, at apptest-sticker-purrsy/ and apptest-sticker-stickerfun/ (11-06 read).

A construction company and a "technology investment" company pushed updates to two sticker apps with reworded copy within two seconds of each other. That can only mean someone clicked a batch publish in the back end.

What it is

The feature set is five things: pick a photo and automatically remove the background; touch up edges with an eraser and restore brush; add text, brushes, and doodles; assemble stickers into packs; export to WhatsApp in one tap. For users who don't want to make their own, there are downloadable, categorized ready-made sticker packs. The only real difference from competitors is the packaging: a cat in the name, copy full of "kawaii" and "adorable die-cut," and icons and colors aimed at young women.

The store page is labeled "Contains ads," with no in-app purchases, so revenue comes only from ads. The website says "free, ad-supported, with optional in-app purchases," probably a generic line from the template. That may change later.

How the 80k installs happened

Early November it was getting six or seven thousand a day, falling to two or three thousand from Nov 5. The chart rankings follow the same shape: in Oct 29 it was #8 on Italy's Art & Design free chart and #19 in Hong Kong. By Nov 6 Italy had dropped to 36, Spain 28, Argentina 61, Germany 73, and the US 135. It peaked at launch and declined from there, the typical curve once paid acquisition to push the charts stops.

More telling: with 80k installs, it has zero public ratings and not a single review. Tools people actually like usually have several hundred to a few thousand ratings by 80k installs. No one stopping to rate it suggests most people arriving are people who saw an ad, tapped in, used it once, and left (inference).

Where the money goes, and the sibling apps leave the evidence. In the Meta Ad Library, a Page called "Practical Apps For Everyone" has only 2,444 likes but is running 1,197 ads at once. 11 of them push sibling app "Chibi Sticker Maker," with Spanish and Portuguese copy: "Esta aplicación tiene un montón de pack de stickers divertidos" (this app has a ton of fun sticker packs). Two more Pages, "Best Free App" (71 likes, 801 ads running) and "Tomorrow App" (13 likes, 206 ads running), are pushing another sibling, "Sticker Creator & Pack Maker," with the copy "Top 1 Free Sticker App for you." The same Pages also push GPS location, phone cleaner, PDF reader, and short-drama apps (Meta Ad Library, 11-05). Few likes, hundreds or thousands of ads, and everything gets promoted. This is a publisher's ad shell.

Purrsy's own ads weren't found. They may be in Google's app ads, or under a new Page. But the ad languages (Spanish, Portuguese) match the countries where it charts (Spain, Italy, Mexico, Argentina). No one on TikTok, X, or Reddit has mentioned it.

Same template, ten shells

Using the same website layout and description template, at least 10 nearly identical sticker apps turn up on Google Play, all launched after June 2026:

The pattern is clear: a June batch, a July batch, an August batch, a September batch. Each batch's shells launch the same day and update within the same minute (the last updates for the June batch all cluster between Jul 28 and 14:23 14:29). Each shell gets a different persona: Purrsy is a cat, Gummy Pop is candy, Emozy is emoji stickers, Chibi and Anime are anime. Developer accounts sit under a pile of unrelated company names, with personal gmail addresses. This is a common Vietnamese studio practice of buying or renting accounts, so one banned account doesn't take the others down (inference).

But this table also shows the ceiling of the trick. The earliest batch peaked at around 600K to over a million and then stalled. Stickify has grown only 2% in the last 7 days. Ratings cluster around 2 stars. A shell lives about two to four months: launch, buy installs, hit a small-country category chart, ride one wave of ads, then swap in the next one. Purrsy belongs to the September batch, and the September batch is currently the smallest: Purrsy has 80k in six weeks, Sticker Fun launched the same day has only 10k, and Emozy from the August batch has already reached 220k.

Google Play public data, 11-06; WhatsApp Help Center.

The old tools handled "turn a photo into a sticker" back in 2018. Since 2023, Apple, Google, and WhatsApp have built it into the system and the chat window. The people still searching for "sticker maker" are mostly people who don't know where the built-in feature is. That group really exists, but it keeps shrinking.

If it were you

My call: Don't chase this. Purrsy is just one shell in the newest batch of a copy-and-paste pipeline, not a prototype worth following. The platform now gives away its core feature for free, and the same operator's newest batch launched smallest, which suggests this patch has already been farmed several times over.

Who it suits: Only studios that already have paid acquisition accounts, ad monetization, and a multi-developer account pipeline. Treat it as one more low-cost SKU. Keep it running if the CPI and eCPM math works, and shut it down the same day if it doesn't.

Who it doesn't suit: Indie developers and small teams who want a durable product. You don't have a portfolio to spread the account-ban risk across, no ready-made ad shell, and a single shell's margin is so thin that it only pays off when ten run together. An app rated around 2 stars can't hold up reviews or organic search either.

If you still want to build something: Skip "photo cutout to sticker" as a generic feature, since the system has already absorbed it. Look for the step the platform hasn't covered well, where the entry point is awkward. The same week offers an example on Google Play: Stiko, by a Spanish indie developer, solves only one thing, moving stickers saved on TikTok into WhatsApp. They posted Spanish tutorials on their own TikTok account and went from 17k to 60k installs in two weeks, with a 4.9 average rating. That path relied on a specific pain point plus organic content, not on paid installs.

How to get users: If you really want to follow Purrsy's path, copy what these shells do: Meta and Google app ads in Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, targeting low-competition small-country Art & Design charts. Once you chart, pick up a bit of organic store traffic.

When to move: There's no window to race for. This path isn't untapped. It's nearly exhausted.

Signs I'm reading this wrong: (1) The same operator launches a new batch in 11 or December that gains traction faster than Purrsy and passes 300k. That would mean the unit economics of this paid-acquisition business are still healthy and worth recalculating for teams with a pipeline. (2) Purrsy keeps ~thousands of daily installs without new version releases and starts accumulating ratings, which would mean it gets real organic search volume and isn't all bought. (3) WhatsApp or Google buries the built-in sticker-making entry point even deeper or removes it. Then the need opens up again.

Where users come from
  • Verified Meta paid acquisition (matrix level): metaads: the Page "Practical Apps For Everyone" (1,197 ads running) runs Spanish/Portuguese sticker ads for sibling app Cutora. "Best Free App" (801 ads) and "Tomorrow App" (206 ads) pushed "Top 1 Free Sticker App" for Stickly in September.
  • Inference Purrsy's own paid acquisition (Google UAC or a new Meta Page): ad_supported, no in-app purchases. It jumped to #8 on the Italy Art & Design chart right after launch, then slid steadily. It has 80k installs and a 0 rating. None of the three ad libraries turned up its package name (they only track the roster).
  • Verified Small-country charts and store search: chart_rank: 10-29 Italy Art & Design #8, Hong Kong #19, charted in 10–17 countries' category charts.
  • Inference TikTok / X / Reddit / media: TikHub, x-radar, and web search returned nothing relevant.

Why Purrsy: Sticker Maker (com.purrsy.sticker.maker) made it into the rankings

Channel: Google Play. Developer: DAI DUONG TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT (Hanoi, Vietnam). First released 2026-09-26, version 1.0.1, last updated 2026-10-05. Research date 2026-11-06.

Bottom line

Purrsy isn't a "product that broke out" story. It's a new shell in a Vietnamese re-skinned app matrix: the same "photo cutout to stickers, export to WhatsApp" template, sitting under a batch of unrelated Vietnamese company developer accounts (construction, coffee, labor export...). The website sits on a free netlify subdomain, the emails are personal gmail, and it runs on paid acquisition (this matrix has direct evidence of Meta spend) plus ad monetization (Contains ads, no IAP). 80k installs at this scale were bought with paid acquisition, not grown organically.

2026-11-0679,592+3,286
  • 7-day increase 33,265 (app_profile). Play's install counts refresh only every day or two, so one day in every few shows zero. From 11-01 to 11-03 it ran about 6–7k a day, then from 11-05 dropped to 2–3k a day. Growth is slowing.
  • The rating count has stayed empty (ratings = NULL). 80k installs, 0 public ratings, and 0 reviews means users almost never stop to rate it. That fits low-intent traffic from paid acquisition; apps that are genuinely liked by many organic users usually don't look like this.
  • Charts: only charted in the ART_AND_DESIGN category free chart, never on an overall or Top Grossing chart. 10-29 Italy #8, Hong Kong #19, then steadily down: by 11-06 Italy #36, Spain #28, Argentina 61, Germany 73, Mexico 82, US 135. It peaked right at the start and has been falling since, the classic curve of a paid-acquisition push that fades on its own.
  • Monetization: app_snap shows ad_supported = True, offers_iap = False. Revenue is ads only.
  • Data safety: "may share device or other IDs with third parties", the standard disclosure for ad SDKs (Play page, read via r.jina.ai).

2a. The "sibling apps" in the same matrix (key finding)

Several details point to the same operator:

  • Purrsy and Sticker Fun launched the same day (09-26), and their last-updated times are 2026-10-05 18:52:53 and 18:52:51, 2 seconds apart. The same release pipeline is pushing to a batch of accounts back to back.
  • Pixora / Stickly / Cutora / Artify / Animora were all last updated between 2026-07-28 14:23–14:29, another batch pushed out together.
  • The websites all follow the <name>-sticker-maker.netlify.app pattern. Purrsy's site images are served from webapps-assets.pages.dev/apptest-sticker-purrsy/, a shared asset CDN, and the path still says apptest-sticker-*.
  • Store descriptions use one template: emoji subheadings + "auto cutout / eraser & restore / decorate / packs / WhatsApp export", with only the "persona" swapped (Purrsy is cats and kawaii, Gummy Pop is candy, Emozy is emoji packs, Chibi / Anime is anime).
  • The registered companies behind the developer accounts are unrelated to each other (construction, coffee, labor export, computing), and the emails are personal gmail ([email protected] etc.). This is a common Vietnamese studio practice: buying or renting corporate developer accounts to spread ban risk while letting one template occupy several store slots.
  • The older siblings all have very low ratings (1.5–2.4 stars), and once installs reached 60–1.3M growth stalled (Stickify added only 7% in 2 days). The lifecycle of this play: launch a new shell → buy traffic → chart in small-country category charts → collect a round of ad revenue → swap in the next shell. Purrsy is from the September batch.

Bottom line: plenty of products do the same thing, and the big platforms ship the feature too. Purrsy has no functional differentiation.

3. Growth tactics

  • Meta paid acquisition (at the matrix level: confirmed; for Purrsy itself: no direct hit). In the metaads library:
    • The Page "Practical Apps For Everyone" (2,444 likes, 1,197 ads running now, earliest 2026-07-26) is advertising Chibi Sticker Maker (com.cutora), with 11 ads running. The copy is in Spanish and Portuguese ("Esta aplicación tiene un montón de pack de stickers divertidos", "WA Sticker Maker Free").
    • The Page "Best Free App" (71 likes, 801 ads running) and "Tomorrow App" (13 likes, 206 ads running) advertised Sticker Creator & Pack Maker (com.stickly) in September, with copy "Top 1 Free Sticker App for you" and Spanish "Crea stickers únicos con tus fotos…". The same two Pages are also running ads for GPS location, phone cleaners, PDF readers, and short-drama apps.
    • A Page with few likes, hundreds or thousands of ads running, and promotion across unrelated categories is a Vietnamese publisher's ad shell. The ad languages (Spanish / Portuguese) match the countries where Purrsy charted (Spain, Italy, Mexico, Argentina).
    • Purrsy's package name doesn't show up in metaads, googleads, or tiktokads. But these three libraries only track products on our watchlist and fixed keywords, so not finding it doesn't mean it wasn't advertised. The likeliest case is Google App Campaigns (UAC) or new Meta Pages outside our watchlist.
  • Small-country category charts: within its first month it reached the top 20 of the Art & Design free charts in Italy and Hong Kong. Small-country category charts have low thresholds; a few thousand installs bought can get you on, and charting brings some organic store traffic (indirect evidence: the ranking curve).
  • Store search (ASO): the title includes "Sticker Maker" and the description stacks WhatsApp, sticker packs, and similar terms to capture long-tail search in the category (inference).
  • TikTok / X / Reddit / media: a TikHub search for "purrsy sticker" returns only unrelated furry sticker videos; x-radar shows 0 posts in the last 60 days; web search only finds auto-generated pages from AppBrain and Similarweb. No creator or organic content spread.

4. Why it took off

  1. An arbitrage template of paid acquisition plus ad monetization: ad_supported, no IAP, and the same operator runs heavy Meta spend on this batch of sticker shells (evidence in metaads). As long as eCPM exceeds CPI it can keep rolling, and the 80k installs are set by the ad budget.
  2. Spreading risk across the matrix: one template, 10 developer accounts, each with a different "cute persona", occupying several search and chart slots at once. Whichever account gets banned or has poor ROI gets shut down and replaced. Purrsy and Sticker Fun launching the same day with updates 2 seconds apart is a trace this pipeline leaves.
  3. Easy-to-chart small markets: the Art & Design charts in Italy, Spain, and Hong Kong have very low thresholds, and charting brings some extra organic traffic.
  4. The demand is real but ordinary: WhatsApp stickers are a must-have in Latin America and Southern Europe (Sticker.ly charted Top Grossing in Brazil), so purchased traffic can turn into ad impressions. But users don't leave ratings, and the older sibling apps all sit around 2 stars, which means neither retention nor satisfaction supports long-term growth.

5. Differentiation

  • No functional differentiation. Cutout, eraser, text, packing, and WhatsApp export are identical to the 2018-era tools and to WhatsApp's built-in features.
  • The only difference is the wrapper: a cat-IP name, a kawaii tone, and die-cut sticker-culture language, aimed at young female users and Southern European and Latin American markets. This wrapper can lift ad CTR, so it counts as differentiation in ad creative, not in the product.
  • It worked not because of differentiation but because of the distribution play (paid acquisition + matrix).

6. How many people know about it

  • Almost nobody knows about it yet: no public revenue, no media or X coverage, no TikTok content, only auto-generated AppBrain / Similarweb pages.
  • But this play is already crowded: the same matrix has spawned 10 shells, and outside it there are dozens of re-skins like the Romantic Stickers batch. Copycats aren't copying Purrsy. Purrsy is just one more unit on the copycat assembly line.

7. What others can borrow

  • The Vietnamese studio playbook: one tool template × N persona skins × N developer accounts × free netlify websites × a shared asset CDN, with Meta / Google paid acquisition in small-language markets and ad monetization. The cost of each new shell is very low.
  • Target small-country category charts (Italy, Spain Art & Design) to chart, since the threshold is low.
  • Product choice: pick a must-have like WhatsApp stickers, where the platform already has the feature but buried deep, and repackage it with a "cute persona" to lift CTR.
  • Risks: platform-native features eroding demand; very low ratings that can trigger Play's "low quality / repetitive content" policies; a lifespan of roughly 2–4 months.

8. Still unclear

  • There's no direct evidence of Purrsy's own ad channels (only sibling apps in the same matrix advertising on Meta); it could be Google UAC.
  • Whether these 10 accounts belong to one studio or several that bought the same source code. A two-second gap in update times strongly points to one operator, but no evidence confirms it directly.
  • Ad revenue and ROI are unknown. Similarweb has a Purrsy page, but I haven't read the specific numbers.
  • There are no ratings. The reason could be that Play hides ratings until a threshold count is reached, or users genuinely don't rate. Both are possible.
