Push-Up RPG: a one-person fitness RPG from Kazakhstan that filled the Android gap left by iOS hits
What it is A mobile RPG where you prop your phone on the floor, the front camera counts your push-ups and squats, and every rep hits the monster in front of you. It has gear, guilds and live PvP duels. Free to download, with a subscription and in-app purchases for revenue.
Why it took off "Push-ups to beat bosses" was first pushed on TikTok by PUPG and Push Up Arena. The category leader, Push Up Arena, had no Android version, and Pushup RPG got to Google Play first. Its own account's two videos in early August drew about 6.2M views combined, and installs rose fifty-fold in a week. Since then, daily videos, paid press releases and localized titles have kept it at a few thousand new installs a day.
CHow you could follow Don't build another camera push-up monster game. Copy the method instead: change the exercise, the audience or the motive (for example, you must work out before your phone unlocks). Get counting accurate and anti-cheat solid, and run a TikTok account that posts live PvP-style clips daily until one hits.

Pushup RPG is a mobile game built solo by Yerasyl Amanbek, an indie developer from Kazakhstan. You prop your phone on the floor, the front camera counts your push-ups and squats, and each rep damages the monster. It launched on Google Play in July 31, and by November 6 it had 170k installs and an average rating of 4.8. It didn't invent the mechanic. It rode a wave already building on TikTok. It broke out because the category leader only shipped on iPhone, leaving Android demand unserved, and because its own account landed two million-plus-view videos. Below: how it grew, how crowded it is now, and whether you should get in.
A 4.27M-view video
In 2026 August 5, the TikTok account @pushuprpg posted a 25-second video captioned "Bro thought he had a chance." It showed a live duel in the game: two strangers each doing push-ups on their phones, with whoever is faster pulling the same rope toward themselves. By November 6 the video had 4.27M views and 170k likes (TikTok, 11-06). The day before, "Bro really taught me a lesson" had 1.97M views.
The most-liked comment was "bro he's using 1 Arm" (the other guy was using only one arm), with 8,800 likes. Scrolling down, about half the comments were in Spanish and Russian: "What's this app called?" "Is it on Google or the Play Store?" "I already downloaded it, looking for someone to duel."
Those are the right questions. On Google Play, the app had only 8 total installs in August 714, then jumped to 16 in August 37,389 (third-party estimate). That's fifty times more in one week.
What it is
The store description opens with: "Every push-up is an attack, every set is a battle." You prop the phone upright, get into a plank, and the camera recognizes your pose locally and counts in real time. Nothing is uploaded. Each valid push-up deals one hit of damage to the monster in front of you.
The game side is richer than most of its peers: 8 maps and 48 monsters, gear from common to mythic, crafting, a skill tree, an endless dungeon, weekly guild bosses, plus the live duels shown in the 40-second clip. Squats, sit-ups, pull-ups and parallel bars were added later. It's free to download and the core game costs nothing. The membership is called Vigil; you need it to go deeper in the endless dungeon. In-app purchases in the shop range from $1.99 to $99.99. A Hacker News user mentioned a "$40 subscription," which appears to be annual. It has never charted in any country's Top Grossing, so how much it has earned is not visible from the outside.
In an interview with a Taiwanese outlet, the developer said he used a lot of generative AI for code and art (TechRitual, 10-20, labeled as sponsored content). One person, four months since launch, and the game is now on version 2.6.
What players say
The most useful US App Store reviews all say the same thing: it got people to do more push-ups.
"I'm giving five stars because this app got me doing more push-ups than ever before, and that alone is amazing." (US App Store, 08-09)
"This game reminds me of Solo Leveling: you do push-ups to beat monsters, get gear, and get stronger to take on tougher ones." (US App Store, 08-01)
"My dopamine was crashing and my cortisol was spiking until I saw this game on TikTok." (US App Store, 09-19)
The complaints are concentrated on the camera counting: "To reach level 90 you need 31+ reps in 22 seconds. The camera can't keep up with fast motion and often misses valid push-ups" (09-07). "The latest update broke the counting. I tried different lighting, distance and angles, nothing works" (08-22). "I found a bunch of ways to cheat, they should fix that" (10-11). Some also say their guild got 100+ join requests overnight and they had to accept them one by one.
2,415 ratings on Google Play with an average of 4.81, yet not a single 1-star, and only 92 of them include a written review (Google Play, 11-06). The most likely explanation is that it prompts for a rating right at a high point like beating a BOSS (inferred).
Why it took off
First, it didn't create the trend. "Camera-counted push-ups to beat bosses" was first pushed on TikTok in February by PUPG (its top video hit 2.7M views), then Push Up Arena took over in May (its official account posted several videos at 1M to 3.3M views). Pushup RPG only reached iOS in June 25, so it's second wave.
Second, the leader never shipped on Android. The biggest name in the category, Push Up Arena, still has only an iPhone version (4,023 ratings on the US App Store; Pushup RPG has 1,208,11-06). People on TikTok were specifically asking for "Push Up Arena Android," and someone even built a similarly named Android app to cash in. Pushup RPG went live on Play in late July, and when the early August videos took off, everyone asking "is it on the Play Store?" landed on it. It now has 170k installs on Play, the largest in its category; on iOS it has about a third of Push Up Arena's count. The volume is mostly on Android.
Third, one account manufactured the hit. @pushuprpg has posted 1,262 videos and 3,254 followers (TikTok, 11-06). Lately it posts several a day, each getting hundreds to thousands of views, with memes like "real-life duel getting crushed" and "One Punch Man challenge." Volume is how it buys a lottery ticket, and two tickets hit. Latin American users have started making their own clips too; one Spanish-language "David Goggins challenged me" video has 195k views.
Fourth, after the spike, it's held up by steady volume. Nothing has matched the August scale since, but it still adds 1,000 to 2,000 installs a day (Google Play installs, 11-06 versus 11,057 the week before). What keeps it going is a mix that an indie developer can afford:
| Approach | What |
|---|---|
| Paid press releases | An EIN Presswire release about "breaking 100k installs" (08-31), syndicated through a news channel of local papers under the USA Today group; gamespress (08-27) |
| Asian media placements | GameChosun in South Korea (10-06) and TechRitual in Taiwan (10-20), timed to match its climbs in the fitness charts in Taiwan, Vietnam and Japan |
| Communities and directories | Show HN (08-26,21 points), Peerlist, IGDB, ModDB, plus dozens of product directories, all with nearly identical wording, which looks mass-submitted (inference) |
| Website SEO | pushup.quest hosts push-up tutorials and landing pages for "push-up game" and "camera push-up counter," plus comparison pages against rivals like Shaply |
| Localized store listings | iOS 13 种语言,标题换成当地搜索词:台湾「伏地挺身冒險」、日本「腕立て伏せ・筋トレ冒険」、墨西哥「Reto Lagartijas」 |
The charts show this playbook's ceiling. It has only charted in the free fitness category, peaking at #76 in Vietnam, #133 in the Philippines and #135 in Taiwan, and it never reached the US chart (Google Play charts, 10-29 to 11-06). There's no sign of paid user acquisition, and the curve lacks the plateau you usually see with paid ads (inference).
How crowded is it? Already full
Search "push up game" or "push up battle" on the App Store and you'll find over twenty similar apps launched in 2026, with new ones appearing every month from May through October. The main players:
| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (11-06) | Approach |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Push Up Arena | iOS only | 5-14 | US store rating 4,023 | Category leader, with ranked ladder + 1v1, bosses too; some users report a $10 monthly fee |
| PUPG | iOS | 2-23 | US store rating 596 | The first to make push-ups-to-beat-bosses go viral; a counter-style design |
| Push Up Boss | iOS + Android | 5-17 | Play 65k installs, nearly flat for the week | Free cross-platform multiplayer |
| Pushup Legends: Duel Arena | Android | 9-29 | Play 40k installs, +26k in one week | Built by an established utility-app developer, pitching instant 1v1 matchmaking |
| Shaply | Android | 8-09 | Play 73k installs, +11k in a week | Monster fighting + duels + camera-logged meals |
Pushup Legends is the one to watch: 38 days after launch, its weekly installs are already more than double Pushup RPG's. It comes from an established developer who has made screen-recording tools before. The Android gap is now being filled by people who are better at driving volume.
The names are getting copied too. The App Store now has "PushUp RPG: Push UP Warrior" (launched in August), plus "Push Up Quest" and "PushUp Quest." Pushup RPG's website FAQ now has a paragraph distancing itself from them.
Two bigger products make useful comparisons: Arise, a fitness RPG that doesn't use the camera and relies on self-reported reps (Solo Leveling style, 2.15M installs on Play); and Push Up Time, which uses the camera to count push-ups to unlock blocked apps (530k installs on Play). Same underlying tech, different motive, and several times the volume.
If it were you
Grade C: you can learn from it, but copying it no longer pays. The niche was validated in February. By November there are over twenty similar apps, and the Android gap is being filled by volume-focused teams like Pushup Legends. If you get in now, you're in the third wave. What's worth copying is the playbook: find a category that TikTok pushed on iOS where the leader never reached Android, get to Play first, then post daily from one account until something hits.
Who it suits: indie developers who already know on-device pose detection and can film and post short videos consistently, or who have an idea where the body acts as the controller but it isn't push-ups.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone planning yet another camera-counted push-up monster game, which is far too similar to what's out there; anyone who can't make short videos and is counting on store search for organic installs, since this category's traffic all comes from TikTok; and anyone hoping a subscription will make big money, since it has never reached the Top Grossing chart.
How to do it: copy the method, not the mechanic. Three directions are more promising than imitation:
- Change the exercise or the audience. Squats, jump rope, planks and jumping jacks can all be camera-counted. For seniors in rehab, kids' recess exercises, or women focused on fat loss, there's no leading "monster-fighting" version yet. Commenters keep asking for sit-ups, pull-ups and full-body workouts.
- Change the motive. Push Up Time shows that "do 20 push-ups to unlock TikTok" draws more volume than "fight monsters," but ScrollFit and Workout Locker already occupy that space. Consider a parent-facing version: you must finish a workout before the cartoon or game unlocks.
- Do the parts it gets wrong. Players' biggest complaints are that fast reps go uncounted, that cheating is easy, and that high levels demand 22 reps in 31 seconds, which gets people stuck. Accurate counting and solid anti-cheat are real selling points, especially in a 1v1 ladder.
How to get users: build a TikTok account like its own, posting several clips a day on real-life duels, getting crushed, and celebrity bits (One Punch Man, Goggins). People in Latin America and Russian-speaking regions are the most active in comments, so launch Spanish, Portuguese and Russian versions first. Pair it with an EIN Presswire release, a Show HN post and directory submissions at launch. The whole package costs a few hundred dollars (estimate).
When to act: If you still want a piece of the "push-up game" wave, the New Year fitness season in January 2027 is the last clear peak. After that, the keyword will most likely be split up among a few leaders and new Android players.
What would show we're reading it wrong: ① Pushup RPG or Pushup Legends charts in the US or any big market, meaning the money here is bigger than it looks and the estimate needs redoing; ② Push Up Arena launches on Android and Pushup RPG's weekly installs hold steady, meaning RPG depth keeps people and "a deeper game" is a better path than I assumed; ③ conversely, if by December there are no new million-view "push up game" videos on TikTok, the trend is fading and switching the movement won't save the category.

One line
A camera-counted push-up and RPG boss-battle mobile game by Kazakhstan-based indie developer Yerasyl Amanbek. The phone stands on the floor, and the front camera recognizes your pose locally and counts reps; each push-up or squat deals one hit to the enemy. 8 maps, 48 monsters, with gear, skill trees, weekly guild bosses, and 40-second real-player duels (two players' reps pull the same rope). Free to download, monetized through the Vigil membership and in-app purchases.
Verdict: it didn't pioneer this category; it's a follower in a wave that was already rising. The "camera-counted push-up boss game" was first popularized on TikTok in the first half of 2026 by PUPG (February) and Push Up Arena (May). Pushup RPG launched on iOS in June 25 and on Android in late July. Two TikTok videos from its own account on August 4–5 (4.27M and 1.97M views) pushed Android installs from a few hundred to tens of thousands. It could chart on Google Play mainly because the category leader, Push Up Arena, is iOS only, leaving Android demand unserved. On top of that, it seeded aggressively: daily TikTok posts, paid press releases, dozens of directory sites, SEO blogs, and store listings localized in 13 languages. Its RPG depth is an advantage, but not a unique one.
1. Who they are
- Developer Yerasyl Amanbek, Kazakhstan (one press release says Almaty, another Astana), an individual developer. The official site FAQ says it is published under "ReLife Studio" [pushup.quest; gamespress 2026-08-27; EIN Presswire 2026-08-31]. A TechRitual interview says he used generative AI for coding and art [biz.techritual.com/en/posts/2675,2026-10-20, labeled Promotion].
- Timeline:
- 2025-10-08 already posted on r/gamedesign asking "would you play a mobile game where you fight monsters with squats and push-ups?" [Brave search snippet; Reddit body not retrievable, identity of the poster unverified];
- Later posted on r/AndroidAppTesters: "PushUP RPG (need 8 testers)", to meet Google Play's requirement for new personal accounts of 12 testers × 14 days;
- Launched on iOS 2026-06-25 (iTunes lookup);
- Android store launch 2026-07-31 (googleplay library, app.released_store);
- Versions shipped quickly: by early November Android was at 2.6.3 and iOS at 2.6.5 (10-28); late August to early September added pull-ups and parallel bars.
- Store data (2026-11-06):
- Play: 171,509,7 days of installs, 11,057 new; 2,415 ratings, average 4.81; only 92 written reviews;
- iOS: 1,202 ratings in the US store, 4.85; the official site claims 10-18 ratings worldwide, 2,944.
- Monetization: in-app purchases $1.99–$99.99 [googleplay library, app_snap]; the membership is called Vigil, and dungeon floors below 10 require it [official site]. HN users mention a "$40 subscription" (likely an annual fee) [HN 49455695]. It has never charted on any store's Top Grossing list in our data; revenue scale is unknown.
2. Growth data
Android (googleplay library, app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimates; 10-29 onward is our own observation)
| Timeline | Total installs | Average daily new installs |
|---|---|---|
| 08-08 | 714 | ~170 |
| 08-10 | 10,884 | ~5,000 |
| 08-16 | 37,389 | 5,000–7,600 |
| 08-20 | 47,447 | ~2,400 |
| 09-01 | 63,765 | 1,000–2,000 |
| 09-17 | 98,776 | Single-day peak of 7,171 |
| 10-01 | 119,620 | 1,000–2,000 |
| 10-28 | 160,452 | ~1,500 |
| 11-06 | 171,509 | Last 7 days 11,057 (about 1,600/day) |
- The inflection point is Aug 9, just days after its own two TikTok hits (8-04 and 8-05). No peak of the same size has appeared since. There are only smaller pulses at 9-11, 9-17, 10-08, and 10-21, likely tied to press releases, media placements, or new video waves (not matched one by one).
- Charts (googleplay library, chart_rank, 10-29 to 11-06): it has only charted in the Health & Fitness free category, best ranks being Vietnam #76, Philippines #133, Taiwan #135, Poland #138, Thailand #159, Japan #163, Germany #180, Malaysia #196. All low-barrier smaller markets; it has never charted in the US.
- The rating distribution is odd: [1-star 0, 2-star 11, 3-star 35, 4-star 216, 5-star 1,911] (10-29). Across 2,400 ratings, not one is a 1-star, and only 92 are written reviews (3.8%). This fits in-app rating prompts fired at highlight moments like beating a boss (most in-app ratings are stars only, no text). This is an inference, not verified.
iOS (iTunes lookup, ratings count by store, 11-06)
US 1,202, UK 162, France 145, Canada 136, Germany 102, Vietnam 99, Taiwan 88, Turkey 73, Kazakhstan 68. On the same day, Push Up Arena had US 4,023, UK 590, Germany 794, France 561. On iOS it has roughly 1/3 to 1/4 of Push Up Arena's volume. On Play, 170k installs against about 3 thousand ratings on iOS shows its volume is mostly on Android.
3. Competitors: this is an already crowded category
Searching iTunes for "push up arena / pushup game / push up battle" turns up more than twenty similar apps launched in 2026. The main ones:
| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Pushup RPG |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Push Up Arena - Fitness Game(Airix LLC) | iOS | 2026-05-14 | US store 4,023 ratings; official TikTok account has several videos with 1M–3.3M views; a "Push Up Arena Android" hashtag exists on TikTok | The biggest in the category. Pushes ranked ladders and 1v1 battles, also has bosses and dungeons. iOS only; App Store reviews mention a monthly fee of $10 |
| PUPG - Push Up PlayGround(SIMONI K LULACA) | iOS, with APK site pages for Android | 2026-02-23 | US store 596 ratings; top TikTok videos 2.7M and 1M views | The first to make "push-ups to fight bosses" popular. Gameplay leans on a counter plus bosses, with a shallow RPG system. |
| Push Up Boss: Multiplayer Game(Ipirio) | iOS + Android | 2026-05-17(iOS),Play 2026-06-05 | 64,676 installs on Play, barely growing over 7 days; US iOS 64 rating | Free real-player multiplayer and cross-platform battles, plus a manual mode where you count or the phone sits on your back |
| Pushup Legends: Duel Arena(AZ Screen Recorder) | Android | 2026-09-29 | 39,850 installs on Play, 7 days +25,651, growing faster than Pushup RPG | Backed by an established utility-app developer, pushing instant matching at 1v1. The closest follower on Android. |
| Shaply | Android | 2026-08-09 | Play 72,699,7-day +10,654 | Camera-counted boss fights and duels, plus photo meal logging and ranks. Pushup RPG's website has a dedicated comparison page for it. |
| Arise: Workout & Fitness RPG(Golden Gate Media) | Android / iOS | 2025-04-10 | 2.15M installs on Play, #18 on the India Top Grossing category chart | A solo-leveling style fitness RPG, but reps are self-reported with no camera counting. Part of the larger "fitness RPG" pool. |
| Push Up Time: AI App Blockers and more (ScrollFit, Workout Locker) | Android / iOS | From ¥2025-11 | Push Up Time: 530k installs | Adjacent category: do push-ups to unlock blocked apps; same camera rep counting, but the motive is quitting the phone |
| Stryv, RepChamp, Pushoff, Fit Arena, RepFight, PushArena, Conqr and more | Mostly iOS | 2025-07 to 2026-10 | a few to a few hundred ratings on the US store | All are near-identical rep-battle or boss-counting apps built on 1v1 |
| Ring Fit Adventure (Nintendo), Zombies, Run! | console / phone | Early on | big-company products | One needs a special accessory, one is running plus audio story. Pushup RPG only needs a single phone. |
[Scale source: googleplay library app_profile 11-06; iTunes lookup / search 11-06; TikHub search]
Verdict: "phone camera counts reps plus gamification" was first validated in the first half of 2026 by PUPG and Push Up Arena on TikTok. Since then a new clone has launched every month from May to October, a dozen or two in total. Pushup RPG entered in June as a second-wave player, not a pioneer.
4. Growth tactics
- Daily posting on its own TikTok account, growth driven by hit videos (confirmed)
- @pushuprpg: 3,254 followers, 280k likes in total, 1,262 videos [TikHub user profile, 11-06];
- Three pinned posts: "Bro thought he had a chance" (08-54.3M views, 170k likes), "Bro really taught me a lesson" (08-42M), "Day 21 of 100 Pushup challenge" (07-24.2M); plus a 06-30 "Saitama Challenge" (One Punch Man meme, 200k);
- Hit captions carry #TikTokCreatorSearchInsightsIncentive, meaning they joined TikTok's creator search incentive program;
- In the past two months it has posted several videos a day, most getting a few hundred to a few thousand views, occasionally tens of thousands. It is a volume-for-luck play, with the meme of "a real person in a duel getting crushed";
- Android installs surged from 8-09 onward, which lines up in time with its two hit videos, 8-04 and 8-05.
- Organic UGC (confirmed, small volume): users in Latin America and Brazil spontaneously posted videos, e.g. @elreydelphonk 1 "David Goggins me retó" 195k, @ghandi_lubo 134k (Spanish), @athlete.oficial 11k [TikHub search "pushup rpg"].
- Paid press releases and media pieces (confirmed):
- gamespress(08-27);
- An EIN Presswire "breaks 100k installs" release (08-31), syndicated to press-release channels of USA Today-network local papers (Tennessean, Dispatch, Des Moines Register);
- HardcoreDroid(09-06);
- A Korean GameChosun piece (10-06);
- A Taiwanese TechRitual interview (10-20, labeled Promotion, i.e. a paid placement). The timing of these Asian pieces matches its entries into the category charts in Taiwan, Vietnam and Japan.
- Directory sites and community seeding (confirmed):
- Show HN (08-26,21 points, 8 comments, account not_wowinter13);
- Peerlist, IGDB (the developer wrote "developer perspective" reviews under the account agentont), ModDB, f6s, ScrollLaunch, Launchboard, Founder.best, SaasDB, Linkrena, PixelPicked, codehype, agentlocker.ai, SpacerrApps and dozens more;
- Posts on r/gamedesign and r/AndroidAppTesters on Reddit. So many sites with such consistent wording suggests bulk seeding, possibly automated by an agent. This part is an inference.
- SEO and content (confirmed): pushup.quest has tutorials (push-up form, beginner progression, building the habit), landing pages for keywords like "push-up game" and "camera push-up counter", and comparison pages against competitors (vs Shaply, vs Puuush); the press kit is cleanly written. It targets search terms like "push up counter app / push up game".
- Store localization and ASO (confirmed): the iOS listing is in 13 languages, with titles rewritten to local search terms, e.g. Taiwan "伏地挺身冒險", Japan "腕立て伏せ・筋トレ冒険", Korea "팔굽혀펴기·스쿼트 모험", Mexico "Reto Lagartijas", Russia "Отжимания дома" [iTunes lookup per store].
- Android gap (inference, fairly strong evidence): the category leader Push Up Arena is iOS-only. There is a "Push Up Arena Android" topic on TikTok, and someone published a same-named Android app "PUSHUP ARENA" (VOLARA) to ride the traffic. Searching "push up game" on Play, Pushup RPG is the most-installed camera-only push-up game (170k, versus Push Up Boss 65k and Pushup Legends 40k).
- Paid acquisition: it does not appear in our metaads / tiktokads / googleads libraries. It is not on the tracking list, so "not found" does not mean it wasn't advertised. The curve shows no sustained paid-acquisition plateau, so it most likely bought little or no media (inference).
5. Why it charted
- Riding the category wave: PUPG (from February, top TikTok video 2.7M) and Push Up Arena (from May, several videos at 1M–3.3M) first turned "push-ups to fight bosses" into a TikTok trend, and users started searching "push up game" on their own.
- Android territory: the leaders were not on Android. It hit Play at the end of July, and when its own video blew up in early August, Android demand flowed to it. Play has 170k installs, while iOS has only about 3 thousand ratings.
- Its own TikTok landed two million-view hits: 8-04 and 8-05 together got about 6.2M views, and from 8-08 to 8-16 Android went from 714 to 37,389.
- Steady seeding held up the tail: press releases, Asian media pieces, SEO, directory sites and localized titles kept organic daily installs at 1,000–2,000 without a new hit, and it appeared on the category charts in Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan and the Philippines.
- A complete product: 48 monsters, gear, a skill tree, guilds and live duels, rated 4.8; fast iteration, from launch 4 months ago to v2.6. Ratings may be prompted (there are no 1-star ratings), unverified.
6. Differentiation
- Differences in positioning: most rivals are "counter + battle ladder", while it is a "full RPG" (8 maps, 48 monsters, gear from Common to Mythic, forging, a skill tree, an endless dungeon). It also stresses privacy, with all camera processing on-device and nothing uploaded; the core game is free; and a daily scoring cap of 300 blocks leaderboard farming.
- But Push Up Arena also has bosses and dungeons, and Shaply also has monster fights and duels. RPG depth is a difference of degree, not something unique.
- Differentiation is not the main reason it grew. The main reasons were the Android gap, the TikTok hits, and diligent seeding. RPG depth matters for retention and ratings: there has to be something to grind before there is a subscription to sell.
7. Attention and copycats
- Attention: circulating in a small circle. There are paid press releases, one Show HN (21 points), and a few paid Asian pieces. x-radar shows "pushup rpg" at 0 posts over the last 120 days, and no major X account has written about it. No public revenue (neither TrustMRR nor founder revenue posts turn up). But the category itself has already gone viral on TikTok.
- Copycats are already plentiful:
- Same or near-identical names include PushUp RPG: Push UP Warrior (Zinance, iOS 08-20), Push Up Quest and PushUp Quest (the official FAQ explicitly disowns them), and looteris15-stack/pushup-rpg on GitHub (created 11-03, 0 stars);
- Same gameplay includes Pushup Legends (up 26k on Play in 9-29,7 days, faster than it), Repborne: Push-up Battles (10-15), Push Up Dungeon: Boss Battles, PushRush, Push Up Arena - Samurai Rise, RepDuel and more (a string of launches on iOS from 8 to October).
8. What others can borrow
- When a category is driven up on iOS by TikTok but the leader has not shipped on Android, get a clone onto Play quickly. You are catching demand that already exists.
- A "body as controller" mechanic suits short video naturally: real duels, getting crushed, anime memes (One Punch Man, Goggins). A single account posting daily can wait for a hit.
- A low-cost seeding stack for a solo developer: an EIN Presswire release (which gets syndicated to USA Today-network sites), gamespress, paid Asian media pieces, dozens of directory sites, SEO comparison pages, and localized titles in 13 languages.
- Timing the in-app rating prompt at peak moments (inference).
9. Uncertain
- How much it earns (it never reached the Top Grossing chart; the only pricing hint is a "$40 subscription" mention on HN for Vigil).
- What specifically drove the 9-17, 10-08 and 10-21 small pulses.
- Whether it ran paid acquisition (it is not on our ad tracking list).
- Why there are no 1-star ratings in the distribution (incentivized reviews or something else).
- Whether the Show HN and Peerlist accounts belong to the developer.
- Whether the 2025-10 r/gamedesign post is by the same person.
- Real iOS download numbers (Apple does not publish them).
