> Connecting to Wi-Fi is the most hands-off reason to earn, with the daily cap almost filling itself. Devs took a Korean idea, made an English version with PayPal and mobile-credit payouts, ran paid acquisition in the Philippines, South Africa and Indonesia, then got it spreading via a referral bonus of 500 Cash for both sides and cross-promotion from sister apps.

CashFi - Wi-Fi Rewards · 동글컴퍼니

# Wi-Fi connected = "at work": a solo Korean dev swapped the same box-opening backend to a Wi-Fi version and sold it to the Philippines and South Africa

**What it is** An Android rewards app: with the phone on Wi-Fi, key shards build up automatically. Each day you watch ads to open 10 boxes for Cash, and withdraw to PayPal, mobile airtime, or Korean gift cards.

**Why it took off** Wi-Fi is the easiest earning trigger there is: the daily cap fills almost on its own. The dev took an idea already working in Korea, made an English version with PayPal and airtime cash-outs, and pushed it into the Philippines, South Africa, and Indonesia. Then invite rewards of 500 Cash each way and cross-promotion from sister apps made it spread.

**B** **How you could follow** Don't copy it head-on in markets where it already has traction. Move to language areas where "earn while on Wi-Fi" apps are still mostly scams, such as Latin America, the Middle East, or South Asia. Offer small cash-outs people can actually receive, fix daily rewards to ad slots, cold-start with two-way invites and local earning groups, and prepare one backend with several skins.

B grade: a clear playbook, low cost, and almost nobody outside the niche knows about it. Language areas are open, but low-ARPU markets have thin ad rates, incentivized reviews and referral loops risk Google penalties, the template can be copied within a week, and the dev is already shipping new skins quickly. What people in the niche are saying

CashFi is an Android rewards app Google Play listed in Aug 31. With the phone on Wi-Fi, key shards build up automatically; each day you open 10 boxes for Cash and withdraw to PayPal or airtime. Over two months it has 165k installs, +7k in the last 26.5 days, and in Nov 6 it hit #12 on the South Africa Lifestyle free chart. It's made by one person in a small Korean company, using a backend he has already run four or five times. The idea isn't new, since Korea had it first. What's new is the trigger it picked, "do nothing," and where it chose to sell.

### Nov 3: an Indonesian airdrop channel

On the morning of Nov 3, an Indonesian Telegram channel called Airdrop Nimbrung posted a message titled "CASHFI WIFI INSTAN | Open Box Get Point." Below was a step-by-step guide: download with this invite link, you must enter the invite code (+500); after opening the app, tap settings at the top right, scroll down, link your Google account, connect to Wi-Fi, done. The last line: "Then one key every 5 minutes, for the premium boxes. WD via PayPal/Pulsa" (withdrawals via PayPal or mobile credit).

This channel normally posts crypto "farming" tasks. CashFi got slotted in as an airdrop.

Around the same time, in a Philippine Facebook group for "legit earning apps," someone posted: "Cashfi is legit, app na no need na bantayan gamit lng ang wifi" (no need to babysit it, just use Wi-Fi). Another person's personal post opened with "OMG LEGIT NGA SI CASHFI" and continued "para sa mga naka-wifi sa bahay at mga tamad haha" (for people with Wi-Fi at home, and lazy people, haha). Every post came with an invite link and withdrawal screenshots.

### What it is

The first line on the Play page is "All you need is a Wi-Fi connection". The rules are simple: connect to home or office Wi-Fi (mobile data doesn't count), shards keep piling up on their own, even with the app closed. 10 shards make 1 key, one key opens one chest, up to 100 shards and 10 chests a day. There are two kinds of chests: the premium ones you open by watching ads give more, the regular ones you open directly give less. The developer's website FAQ puts it plainly: "Cash comes from ad revenue".

It includes a privacy note: it doesn't request location, doesn't check which Wi-Fi network you're on, doesn't look at data usage, and only checks whether you're connected or not (Google Play store page). That line is there to draw a distinction from bandwidth-sharing apps like Honeygain and Pawns.app, which sell your spare bandwidth to proxy networks.

Monetization is rewarded video ads only, with no in-app purchases, and it has never charted in Top Grossing (Google Play, 11-06). Korean users cash out to gift cards or Korean won transfers, overseas users mention PayPal, and in Indonesia you can convert to mobile airtime.

Android only. The same developer's charging and walking apps are on iOS, but the Wi-Fi version isn't. The likely reason is that iOS doesn't let apps keep checking Wi-Fi status in the background, so the "keeps earning even when closed" mechanic can't work on iPhone (inference, unverified).

### Who makes it: one backend, five skins

The developer is called 동글컴퍼니 (Dongle Company), publicly branded as Gold Step, and represented by one person. Their website calls them a "mobile rewards app publisher" with users in 125+ countries, and says "the largest markets outside Korea are Nigeria, South Africa, and the Philippines."

Every app under his name runs the same loop: passive actions build shards → shards combine into keys → watch ads to open boxes → withdraw.

| App | Trigger | Launched | Total installs | 7 new in the last day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CashDrill | Charging | 2026-03-21 | 162k | +11,777 |
| CashFi | Wi-Fi connected | 2026-08-31 | 165k | +26,509 |
| DonCaDrill | Mining | 2026-09-19 | 73k | +8,103 |
| CashStep | Walking | 2026-09-25 | 98k | +24,190 |
| WakeBox | Alarm | 2026-10-11 | 8k | +7,475 |

Source: Google Play install counts, 10-29 to 11-05.

CashFi launched more than five months after the charging version, and its installs have already overtaken it, growing at more than twice the rate. The reason is simple: charging takes an hour or two a day, walking means actually walking, but a home phone stays on Wi-Fi for more than ten hours a day, so the 100-shard cap fills almost automatically. Users only need to open the app once a day to open 10 boxes and watch 10 ads. Each day's reward cap matches the ad slots one-to-one, so the cash paid out always stays below ad revenue.

### How it took off

**The curve moves in steps.** The first week after launch brought only a few hundred installs, and by Sep 9 the total was 1,467. On Sep 10 it jumped by more than 20k in one day, reaching 22,385. After that it held steady at 1,600 to 4,000 a day, then jumped again in Oct 20 (+10k+ that day), and by Nov 5 it reached 165,118 (third-party estimate plus Google Play install counts). Which traffic source drove those two jumps can't be separated from outside. The timing around Sep 10 matches the first Philippine review video (Sep 5) and the first Korean referral-code blog post (Sep 9).

**Invite rewards are the engine.** Inviter and invitee each get 500 Cash. Overseas, you need to link a Google account to receive it; in Korea, you link Kakao. Users become promoters themselves: a Korean 앱테크 (app-tech, earning by apps) blogger wrote "캐시파이 후기 · 초대코드 UQYNAJ" (CashFi review, invite code UQYNAJ), and the same blogger had written a referral post for a rival in July. Whoever has the better invite reward gets promoted. In the Philippines, people post withdrawals in Facebook groups; Indonesians share in Telegram airdrop channels; in Kenya someone posted "CASHFI — 3RD WITHDRAWAL TOMORROW" on LinkedIn.

**Sister apps send traffic to each other.** The same account can use several of his apps; completing one daily task in each unlocks an extra spin on the wheel. When a new app launches, existing users move over directly.

**The ratings look unnatural.** 36k ratings against 165k installs is a 22% rate, while typical apps sit in single digits (a judgment from experience). But only 414 reviews have written text, and 5-star ratings make up 91% of them, averaging 4.88. Users of the same developer's walking app have posted on Facebook spelling out a flow of "screenshot your rating to claim 500 Cash," and CashFi's rating pattern matches that exactly (inference; I haven't seen CashFi's own flow directly). This violates Google Play policy.

**No paid acquisition seen.** Searching cashfi on TikTok turns up only one short Venezuelan video with 6,500 views. On X, nobody has mentioned it in 30 days. On YouTube there are only a few small channels with a few hundred to a few thousand views. The website says it welcomes offerwall partnerships; whether it's promoted as a task inside other rewards apps is unknown (unverified).

**It picked a low-bar chart.** It's listed under Lifestyle rather than Tools. In Nov 6 it ranked #12 in South Africa, #23 in Hong Kong, #27 in the Philippines, and #43 in Indonesia (Google Play Lifestyle free charts). On a Lifestyle chart in a small country, a few hundred or a few thousand installs a day is enough to reach the top 30.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Scale | How it differs from CashFi |
|---|---|---|
| Wifiing (와이파잉, Korea) | 172k installs, +3,316 in 7 days | Launched in May. Same idea: earn Cash on Wi-Fi, same reliance on blogger invite codes. But it's Korea only, pays coins by time, and has no box-opening. CashFi is growing 8 times faster |
| WiFi Cash (와이파이캐시, older Korean app) | Over a thousand downloads on ONE store | Around 2021 years old, roughly 50 won a day, never scaled |
| Pawns.app, Honeygain, and other bandwidth-sharing apps | Pawns.app 16.8M installs | They actually sell your bandwidth and require installing a proxy, which raises concerns. CashFi touches none of that. |
| WiFi Joy, WiFi Mine, Wifi Get Cash | Lots of "is this a scam?" reviews | Same "earn on Wi-Fi" pitch, but with inflated promises and withdrawal walls |
| Freecash, Sweatcoin, CashWalk | tens of millions to 100M+ installs | Same users and same ad budget, but they make you complete tasks or walk |

Source: Google Play install counts, 11-06; review sites and the ONE store listing.

So the idea already exists in Korea and the space is crowded. CashFi's move was to make an English version and offer cash-outs that people in the Philippines, South Africa, and Indonesia can actually receive (small PayPal payouts, mobile airtime). In these markets, the alternatives are bandwidth sharing that requires installing a proxy, or scam-smelling earning apps. A version that doesn't touch privacy, has a low daily cap, and actually pays out has room.

### How many people have seen it

Very little. Revenue isn't public, no media has covered it, and there's almost no content on TikTok or X. Discussion is limited to Philippine Facebook earning groups, Indonesian Telegram airdrop channels, and Korean 앱테크 blogs, all small earning-app circles. I haven't seen anyone copy CashFi itself; the most active copier is the developer, who shipped an alarm version in Oct 11.

### Where the money comes from

Rewarded video only. Each user can watch up to 10 a day, and the rate depends on the country: rewarded video rates in the Philippines, South Africa, Indonesia, and Nigeria are far below the US, so ad revenue per active user is likely only a few cents a day (estimate, no public revenue data). A third-party estimate puts its in-app purchase revenue under $5,000 a month, but since it has no IAP at all, that number says little. Whether it makes money depends on the gap between Cash paid out and ad revenue, and on how many users leave before reaching the cash-out threshold. Neither is visible from outside (unverified).

### If it were you

**Verdict:** Worth testing. The playbook is clear and cheap: find a behavior users already do that requires zero effort, and make it the reason to open the app every day. Almost nobody outside the niche knows about it. But unit economics are thin, the distribution tactics carry policy risk, and anyone can copy it within a week. Those weaknesses are obvious.

**Good fit for:** Small teams that can build Android, have integrated rewarded video and offerwalls, and understand the ad rates of low-ARPU markets. People already connected to the "earning app" community in a particular language area.

**Bad fit for:** Anyone wanting a high-ticket product or subscriptions; anyone who wants iOS only (the core mechanic likely can't work there); anyone who can't stomach having reviews wiped or the app pulled by Google.

**How to do it:** Don't copy CashFi head-on in the Philippines or South Africa. It's already there, and the developer ships a new skin roughly every month. Move to other language areas: Latin America (Portuguese, Spanish), the Middle East, or South Asia. In these places, "earn on Wi-Fi" apps are mostly scams right now, so a clean version has room. Pay out what locals can actually receive: Pix in Brazil, small UPI payouts in India, mobile airtime in each country. Cap daily rewards to ad slots. Copy the privacy paragraph and state plainly that you don't touch location or data. Prepare one backend and several skins (charging, Wi-Fi, walking), share accounts across them, and cold-start the second app with users from the first.

**How to get users:** Two-way invite rewards, so "withdrawal screenshot + invite link" becomes content users post themselves. Go to local Facebook earning groups, Telegram airdrop channels, and small YouTube review channels. List in Lifestyle and target small-country category charts. Don't copy incentivized reviews: that carries the highest risk of removal.

**When to move:** The sooner the better, with a window of about half a year. The template can be copied within a week, and the CashFi developer is already mass-producing new skins. It's only a matter of time before he pushes the English version into Latin America.

**Signs you've read it wrong:** (1) CashFi's installs stop growing within a month or two and it drops out of the top 100 on the charts. That would mean users leave before their first cash-out, and referrals can't carry the app. (2) Google wipes its reviews or removes it and its sister apps. That would mean this distribution method doesn't work. (3) Someone gets there first in Brazil or India with the same playbook. Entering after that is too late.

## Why CashFi - Wi-Fi Rewards (Google Play com.rewardfactory.cashfi) is taking off

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data: our googleplay / appstore libraries (DuckDB, as of 2026-11-06; the curve since launch is historical data backfilled from AppstoreSpy), the developer website gold-step.kr, Jina / Exa / Brave search, TikHub (TikTok), x-radar. The same developer already has a CashStep report (out/ios_6819626251.md), and this analysis corroborates it.

### Bottom line

Korean indie developer 유은열 (Dongle Company, global brand Gold Step) took the same backend (reward-factory) that runs a loop of "passive actions collect fragments → craft keys → watch rewarded videos to open boxes → cash out," and reskinned it from "charging" (CashDrill) to "connected to Wi-Fi." Wi-Fi is the **least effort trigger** in this template: home or office Wi-Fi stays connected all day, so the cap of 100 fragments a day fills almost by itself, and users only need to open the app once a day and open 10 boxes (10 ads). It launched first on the Korean app-tech scene (2026-08-31, Kakao sign-in, cash out to gift vouchers). Starting September it went out in English with PayPal and mobile-credit cash-outs, targeting the Philippines, South Africa, Indonesia and Nigeria, low-ARPU markets with strong demand for an app that actually pays out. Users come from **an in-app referral reward (500 Cash for each side) that drives viral growth** : Facebook groups in the Philippines, Telegram airdrop channels in Indonesia, LinkedIn in Kenya, Korean tistory and Instagram invite-code posts, plus older users from the same developer's app portfolio. Of 36k ratings, only 414 have written text and 91% are 5-star, which matches CashStep's confirmed "write a review, get Cash" mechanic. The edge is in **picking the right trigger behavior and the go-to-market** , not in the tech.

### 1. What the product is

- While connected to Wi-Fi (mobile data doesn't count), it accumulates 'key fragments' on a timer, and keeps accumulating after the app is closed. 10 fragments = 1 key; up to 100 fragments per day, open 10 chests. Chests come in 'premium chests opened by watching an ad (pays more)' and 'regular chests opened directly (pays less).' FAQ quote: 'Cash comes from ad revenue' (캐시는 광고 수익에서 나와요). Source: [gold-step.kr/cashfi/](https://gold-step.kr/cashfi/)

- Privacy selling point: the Play page states it does not request location, does not check which Wi-Fi network is connected, and does not check data usage; it only detects connected / disconnected. This is the opposite of bandwidth-selling apps like Honeygain / Pawns (found field in the data; Play description).

- Cashout: in Korea it's gift cards and KRW bank transfer (500 KRW fee per withdrawal), and invite rewards require Kakao binding; overseas it's PayPal, and Indonesia also has mobile credit (Telegram post quote 'WD via PayPal/Pulsa'), which requires a linked Google account. Sources: gold-step.kr/cashfi FAQ; Telegram post indexed by trustat.me (2026-11-03).

- Monetization: the library shows ad_supported = True and offers_iap = False, with no top-grossing chart record at all. It relies purely on rewarded video ads (googleplay library app_snap).

- Android only. The appstore library returns no CashFi, while the developer's CashDrill, DonCaDrill, and CashStep are all on iOS; only this one isn't. Inference: iOS doesn't let an app keep checking Wi-Fi status in the background, so the core selling point of 'keeps earning after you close it' can't be built on iOS (inference, not verified).

- Developer: Donggeul Company, represented by 유은열. Their website calls itself a 'mobile rewards app publisher,' with users in 125+ countries, 'the largest markets outside Korea are Nigeria, South Africa, and the Philippines,' and welcomes offerwall / ad network partnerships. The library has 5 apps total: CashDrill (charging, 2026-03-21), DonCaDrill (mining, 09-19), CashStep (walking, 09-25), CashFi (Wi-Fi, 08-31), 웨이크박스 WakeBox (alarm, 10-11).

### 2. Data: how far it went

**Since launch (googleplay library app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimate)**

- 08-31 launched; by 09-06 it had only 854 installs, 09-09 1,467. **On 09-10 single-day +20,918 to 22,385** , a 15-fold jump in one day, after which it settled at 1,600–4,000 per day.

- 10-20 another jump (+10,552 that day); 10-20–10-26 one week, 3,600–5,900 per day.

- 10-26 about 139k; 11-05 to 165,118.

**Our own collection (googleplay library app_day, 10-29–11-06)**

- Installs 138,609 → 165,118, **+26,509 in 7 days** (Google updates install counts only every few days, so single days show 0 jumps; read the weekly totals). Ratings 34,472 → 36,124, +100–470 per day.

- Same-developer comparison (7 days): CashFi +26,509, CashStep +24,190, CashDrill +11,777, DonCaDrill +8,103, WakeBox +7,475. **CashFi is the fastest-growing and most-installed app in this matrix** (165K, while CashDrill has 162K but launched more than 5 months earlier).

- Charts (Play Lifestyle free chart): South Africa 10-29 #23 → 11-02, dropped to 55 → 11-06 **#12** ; Hong Kong 63 → 23 (climbing steadily); Philippines 23 → 91 → 27 (V-shape); Indonesia 15 → 55 → 43; Nigeria and Vietnam only reached 160–190 in 10-29/30. It has never charted on any overall chart. The V-shaped recovery in the chart coincides with new versions released back to back around 11-04 (1.0.52 → 1.0.55 → 1.0.58).

- **The ratings look off** : 36,124 ratings / 165,118 installs = 21.9% (normal apps are usually a single-digit percentage, by experience); yet only 414 reviews have written text (1.1%); the histogram shows 5-star 32,795, 4-star 2,597, and the rest nearly 0, with an average of 4.88. The large number of '5-star, no text' ratings matches the 'upload a rating screenshot to get 500 Cash' flow found in the CashStep report. The sister app CashDrill has a rating-to-install ratio of 30%, CashStep 18.5%, equally high.

### 3. Where users came from (growth tactics)

1. **In-app invite reward: both sides get 500 Cash** . The Korean version requires the invitee to complete Kakao binding; the overseas version requires a linked Google account before rewards are paid. The invite link is reward-factory-backend.fly.dev/i/cashfi/<code> or a Play link with a referrer parameter. Source: gold-step.kr/cashfi FAQ item 8; wins007.tistory.com/247 (2026-09-09). [Confirmed]

2. **Korean app-tech blog and Instagram invite-code posts** : wins007.tistory.com 2026-09-09 published "캐시파이 review · invite code UQYNAJ, friend invite 500 cash"; on Instagram, 2026-10-28 has invite-code posts tagged #캐시파이 #와이파이앱테크, and influencers are pushing 캐시파이 via "profile card links". The blog author July also wrote an invite-code post for the rival app 와이파잉 (wins007.tistory.com/191). Same app-tech bloggers, whichever app has the invite reward gets promoted. <confirmed>

3. **Philippines Facebook groups** : in the "legit earning app" group, posts say "Cashfi is legit, app na no need na bantayan, gamit lng ang wifi" (no need to watch it, just use Wi-Fi), "OMG LEGIT NGA SI CASHFI", "cashout na naman kay CashFi, click yong link", and "Kumita gamit lang ang WiFi, pwede kahit naka close app". All are withdrawal screenshots with referral links. Threads users in the Philippines also post "mag open ka lang ng box 10X a day". [Confirmed, scale unclear]

4. **Indonesia Telegram "airdrop" channels** : Airdrop Nimbrung (2026-11-03) pitches CashFi as "CASHFI WIFI INSTAN" airdrop, walking users through linking Google, connecting Wi-Fi, "a key to open a premium box every 5 minutes", and PayPal / mobile-credit withdrawals. The Airdrop Finder channel also shared "Cashfi Airdrop for WIFI Users". It has been slotted into the Southeast Asian airdrop and free-earning distribution circuit. [Confirmed]

5. **Kenya / Africa** : On LinkedIn, a Kenyan user 2026-09-17 posted "CASHFI — 3RD WITHDRAWAL TOMORROW". **Small YouTube channels** : "CASHFi app: NEW FREE TO PLAY" from the Philippines (2026-09-05, about 3.8K views), an "Earn With Shazzy" review (about 422 views), and "CASHDRILL & CASHFI EXPLAINED" (covering both apps together, suggesting promotion by a portfolio user). [Confirmed, volumes very small]

6. **Cross-promotion across the developer's portfolio** : The CashStep report confirmed combined rewards across the apps (same account, completing one daily task per app unlocks a spin wheel). The overseas markets the official site names (Nigeria, South Africa, the Philippines) are the countries where CashFi charts. 09-10 brought +20k in a single day, at the same time as the English-language launch, the Philippine YouTube video (09-05), and the Korean blog (09-09). Which traffic source did what cannot be separated. [Mechanism confirmed, amount of cross-promotion traffic unknown]

7. **Incentivized ratings to boost scores** : See section 2. The rating structure matches "get Cash for rating". A CashStep Facebook post explicitly describes the flow. I have not directly seen CashFi's in-app flow. [Inferred, strong evidence]

8. **Paid user acquisition** : Not found. Searching TikTok for "cashfi", "cashfi app", and "cashfi wifi" returns only 1 short Venezuelan videos (6.5K views), the rest irrelevant. x-radar shows 30 posts in 0 days. The ad library does not track it. The official site welcomes offerwall partnerships, so it may be buying through offerwalls or being pushed as a task inside other incentive apps. [Unconfirmed]

9. **Store search / category choice** : Listed under LIFESTYLE rather than Tools. The LIFESTYLE chart in small countries has a low bar, so charting means visibility, and there are few competitors under terms like "wifi" or "earn" (see competitors). [Inferred]

### 4. Competitors

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs from CashFi |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 와이파잉 Wifiing(트리거스) | Android (South Korea only) | 2026-05-28 | 172,320 installs, +3,316 over 7 days, Korea LIFESTYLE #122 (googleplay library) | **The direct prototype for CashFi** : the same "connect Wi-Fi to automatically earn Cash" concept, the same reliance on app-tech bloggers' invite codes, launched three months earlier. But it was Korea-only, in Korean, paid by connection time, and had no boxes. CashFi added box-opening lottery, rewarded video ads, and international expansion, and grew 8 times faster over 7 days. |
| WiFi Cash (와이파이캐시, older Korean app) | Android / ONE store | About 2021 | ONE store: 1 1,000+ downloads, 2.5 rating. Naver / tistory have 11 months of earnings posts (about 50 KRW per day). | The same idea existed years earlier but never scaled. Low earnings, no international expansion. |
| CashFi : Make Cash by Sharing Wi-Fi((주)캐시파이) | Android / Amazon | 2017 | Discontinued | An older product with the same name, which was "share Wi-Fi hotspots for points". The name may have been borrowed, but the mechanics are different. |
| Bandwidth-sharing apps such as Honeygain, Pawns.app, EarnApp, and Grass | Android / desktop | 2019–2024 | Pawns.app: 16.8M installs, Nigeria LIFESTYLE #73 (googleplay library). Honeygain claims tens of millions of users. | These literally sell your spare bandwidth to proxy networks, and the money comes from traffic buyers. CashFi does not touch bandwidth. It uses "connected to Wi-Fi" only as a reason to open the app daily, and the money comes from ads. |
| WiFi Joy / WiFi Mine / Wifi Get Cash / WiFiCash, etc. | Android | 2025–2026 | Several "is this a scam?" reviews (myroomismyoffice.com, naijanewlife.com.ng) | The same "earn money by connecting to Wi-Fi" pitch, mostly exaggerated promises plus withdrawal-wall templates from Chinese online-earning apps. CashFi has a lower daily cap, but users post screenshots saying they really do withdraw. |
| au Wi-Fiアクセス(KDDI) | Big-company features | Years | 10.4M installs (googleplay library) | Wi-Fi connection apps from Japanese carriers come with "poi-katsu" points as a big-company feature, and they exist only in Japan. |
| Same portfolio: CashDrill / CashStep / DonCaDrill / WakeBox | Android / iOS | 2026-03~10 | 162k / 98k / 73k / 8k installs | Same backend with different triggering behaviors (charging, walking, mining, alarms). The Wi-Fi version takes the least effort, so it grows fastest. |
| General incentive apps: Freecash, Sweatcoin, WeWard, CashWalk | All platforms | 2016–2019 | Freecash 37.2M, Sweatcoin 164M, CashWalk 17M installs (googleplay library) | Same type of users, same ad budget. These apps ask you to walk, play games, or complete tasks. CashFi asks for nothing. |

### 5. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off

- **A well-chosen trigger** : "connected to Wi-Fi" is more passive than "charging" or "walking". A phone at home stays on Wi-Fi for over ten hours a day, so the cap nearly always fills, and users only need to open the app once a day to open 10 boxes. Users keep saying "no need na bantayan", "pwede kahit naka close app", and "no need to refer in order to withdraw". This directly explains why CashFi grew fastest within the same backend. **It is one of the reasons it worked.**

- **Taking an idea already proven in Korea (와이파잉, 와이파이캐시) international** : The Korean market for this is already crowded. CashFi was the first to make "earn from Wi-Fi" an English app, offer PayPal and mobile-credit withdrawals, and target the Philippines, South Africa, and Indonesia. In these markets, similar apps are either bandwidth sharing (requires installing proxy software, with friction and privacy concerns) or scam-flavored earning apps. A version that doesn't touch bandwidth and really pays small withdrawals had open space. **This is the main reason.**

- **The playbook** : referral rewards, incentivized ratings, and cross-promotion across the portfolio, so cold-start costs are nearly zero. Users post the links themselves in Facebook groups and Telegram airdrop channels. This is exactly how CashStep works, and it is why the app can scale cheaply.

- The technology and mechanics (boxes, fragments) are not hard to build. A competitor could copy them within a week.

### 6. How many people have seen it

- Revenue is not public (not on TrustMRR or X). No media coverage. x-radar shows 30 posts in 0 days. TikTok has almost no content. YouTube has only small channels with a few hundred to a few thousand views.

- Discussion is limited to Philippine Facebook earning groups, Indonesian Telegram airdrop channels, and Korean app-tech blogs. Assessment: **it is spreading in small circles** (earning-app and airdrop communities), and outside them very few people know about it.

- Copycats: I have not seen anyone copy CashFi itself. But "earn money by connecting to Wi-Fi" was already used by a batch of scam apps (WiFi Joy, WiFi Mine, Wifi Get Cash), and 와이파잉 came first in Korea. The developer is already using one backend to churn out new skins in bulk (10-11 later released the alarm version, WakeBox).

### 7. What to borrow

- **Find behaviors that already happen and need no effort from users as the reason to open the app daily** : charging, connecting to Wi-Fi, walking, and alarms all work. The more passive the trigger, the more people fill the cap, and the more ads each person watches when opening boxes. Match each daily reward cap to ad slots (10 boxes = 10 ads), so spending always stays within ad revenue.

- **One backend, many skins, shared accounts, and combined rewards** : a new app gets older users immediately on cold start. Different triggers go under different store categories, which takes several small-country category chart spots.

- **Give users what the local market can actually pay** (mobile credit, small PayPal amounts), and make withdrawal screenshots content users post themselves.

- **Actively emphasize privacy** : state clearly that it does not ask for location and does not inspect traffic. This sets it apart from bandwidth-sharing apps and reduces user concerns.

- **Localize points-app ideas already validated in mature markets like Korea and Japan into English** . This is the core move of this company. Other language markets (Latin America, the Middle East, South Asia) appear to still be open.

- Not recommended for imitation: incentivized ratings violate Google Play policy and carry the risk of removal and rating purges.

### 8. Uncertain

- What traffic drove 09-10's +20k in one day and 10-20's +10k in one day (portfolio push? a large group? offerwall?) cannot be determined.

- No evidence found of paid acquisition or offerwall placement, and it cannot be ruled out.

- Value per Cash overseas, withdrawal thresholds, and actual payout rate: only user screenshots, not verified.

- The split between Korean and overseas installs is unknown. Play does not break down by region, so overseas being dominant is inferred from the charting countries.

- The exact flow of "get Cash for a good rating" in CashFi was not seen directly. It is inferred from the rating structure and the CashStep evidence.

- Whether it's absent from iOS because of background Wi-Fi detection limits: inferred.

- How long margins last in low-eCPM markets, and whether Google will penalize it for incentivized ratings: unknown.
