DanceHit: AI Dance Generator · ScaleUp

A 15 a week only buys one video: DanceHit is a standard part from an app factory valued at $1.2B

What it is Upload a photo of a person, pet, or baby, pick a dance template, and AI generates a short video of that photo dancing. Weekly subscription $14.99 includes 1,500 coins; each video costs 600–1,100 coins.

Why it's taking off "Photo dance" has been big on TikTok for 2026 years, and it matches exact store search terms. HubX split the dance scene out of its general template app, added a paywall that appears only after the photo is uploaded, prompted for ratings within the app, and launched in 23 countries at once. Its monetization is tighter than its rivals'.

CHow you could approach it We don't recommend copying it. If you do build here, go after its weak points: a free first video, per-video pricing, redoing bad outputs for free, group photo support, or local versions in emerging markets where DancePop and Mylolens have already proven demand.

Grade C: the demand is real and it's making money, and few people know about it yet. But the category already has seven or eight players, and CapCut and Kling offer the same feature for free. DanceHit wins on HubX's distribution and monetization, which followers can't copy, and the trend has already run for about a year. Nobody's talking about it yet

DanceHit does this: upload a photo, pick a dance, and AI turns the person in it (or a dog, or a baby) into a short dancing video. It only hit Google Play in July, and by Nov 6 had 406k installs, charting #21 in the US Play Photo & Video top grossing list. This format was already being done back in January, so DanceHit is a late entrant. Its install count is a third of the early mover's, yet it ranks 15 places higher on grossing. This piece covers how that happened, who's behind it, how it charges, and whether small teams should still try to compete in this category.

The Nov 2 one-star review

In Nov 2026 2, a US user gave DanceHit a one-star rating on the App Store, titled "Scam app". They did the math: the subscription charges weekly and gives 1,500 coins per week; the video they made cost 1,100 coins, and the cheapest template costs 600. "So for 15 dollars a week, you get one video." They also noted the face in the video didn't look like the person they wanted.

Another person that same week wrote: a 7-day trial costs 5 dollars, then 15 dollars a week. They spent 600 coins to make a 5-second video, which took about 5 minutes to render. In an image with four people, only they moved while the other three just nodded.

These numbers roughly match the App Store price list (US store, 11-06): weekly subscription $14.99, annual subscription $39.99, coin packs of 1,000 for $11.99 and 2,000 for $19.99. The official help page also states it clearly: the subscription resets the balance to 1,500 coins each week, and unused coins don't roll over.

Plenty of people are angry, but the US iOS store still averages 4.38 across 4,457 ratings; on Google Play it has 40,319 ratings averaging 4.72, with 84% five-star (Google Play, 11-06). It's still growing.

Why it took off

The demand is already there. "Make a photo dance" has been a TikTok trend for 2026 years and hasn't faded. The TikTok search page for "Dancehit Dance Generator" shows 7M posts, but most of them open to tutorials on making "2026 viral AI dance effects" with Kling or CapCut, not much about DanceHit itself. People who want this kind of video without learning editing search the store for "AI dance". DanceHit's store title is "AI Dance Generator", which catches exactly those searches.

Behind it is an app factory. The developer name is ScaleUp, which is the publishing arm of Turkey's HubX. HubX runs 40 or more profitable apps. In September 2026 it raised a round led by Point72 at a valuation of $1.2B, becoming Turkey's first app studio unicorn (Turkish Investment Office, 2026-09). The same developer account also publishes Nova (115M installs on Play), PlantApp, and Momo.

On the US Play Photo & Video top grossing chart (11-06), HubX took three of the top 21 spots: Momo at #7, AI Video at #14, and DanceHit at #21. Momo and AI Video are general apps with all kinds of templates, and dancing is just one feature among many. DanceHit pulls out that single scene, gives it a precise keyword name, and ships it separately.

Monetization is more aggressive than its rivals'. The first paywall sits in the onboarding flow. The second, and more important, appears after you pick a template, upload a photo, and watch a glowing upload animation (per ScreensDesign's UI breakdown). There's no "make one for free first" option. Some regions get a 5-dollar 7-day trial, but there's no free route.

The result:

Play installsUS Play Photo & Video top grossing
Dance AI (DeePix, listed 2026-01)1.33M#36
DanceHit (listed 2026-07)406k#21

(Google Play,11-06)

Its volume is about 30% of its rival's, but it appears to bring in more money. ScreensDesign estimates 210k installs a month and $160k in revenue; these figures can't be verified.

Where users come from

Two things can be confirmed: it's coming through store search, and it launched in 23 countries at once. In Nov 6 it charted in the photo category in 23 countries and regions: #14 top grossing in Argentina, and #22 in Brazil and Canada. It runs on both iOS and Android.

Little user-made content exists. On YouTube there's "AI Rasputin dance with my son using @dancehit app" (11,958 views in Oct), which animates a photo of the creator's son doing the Rasputin dance. On TikTok, #dancehit has about 3,000 posts, mixed in with music-genre "dance hit" content. On X, almost nobody has mentioned it in the last two months.

HubX has built its business on paid user acquisition, and DanceHit is probably running ads too. But we couldn't match its creatives in the public ad libraries for Meta, TikTok (Europe), or Google. One video titled "Make anyone dance with DanceHit" looks like an ad, but we haven't verified it. So the paid acquisition point is only an inference.

One number stands out: ratings are 10% of installs. Dance AI in the same category is at 2.3%, and DancePop at 4%. Of 40k ratings, only 441 include written text. With mostly star-only ratings and five stars dominating, it looks like Google's in-app rating prompt is triggered right after a user receives a video while they're happy with it (an inference, not verified). More ratings and higher ratings both push store search rankings and conversion up.

CapCut / Kling / PixVersePixVerse 79.6M installs, #3 in US Photo & Video top grossingGeneral video generation with built-in dance templates; most TikTok tutorials teach these tools

Functionally, DanceHit is no different from these products: a photo plus a template produces a dancing video, with templates grouped into Trending, 80s, Iconic, and Furry Friends. What it does better is where the paywall goes, how ratings are prompted, and how it launches across dozens of countries at once, along with HubX's existing subscription system and acquisition team.

What users are actually unhappy about

Going through recent US App Store reviews (late Oct to Nov 5), the one-star complaints boil down to three things:

  • Too expensive, the math doesn't work: "On top of the subscription you have to buy more coins, so you're paying twice" (11-01, Spanish-language review); "Only enough for one video a week" (11-02).
  • No way to test it: "Every template requires a subscription" (11-03). Results don't look like the person, and you can't redo them for free.
  • Results feel like a lottery: "You never know whether it keeps your background or swaps it out... 1,100 coins burned and it's gone, like a 10-dollar game of Russian roulette" (11-02); "It turned the dog's paws into human hands" (11-01).

These are opportunities: cheap, quick to test, easy to redo if they flop, and room for several photos.

If it were you

One-line verdict: good to learn from, but not worth chasing. Photo-dancing demand is real and it does make money, but the category already has 7-8 apps, and CapCut and Kling sit on top with free features. DanceHit wins on distribution and monetization, which small teams can't match.

Who it suits: small studios that already run template apps, buy paid acquisition, and know subscription funnels. They treat dance as one more vertical in a portfolio and accept it may only last a quarter or two.

Who it doesn't suit: indie devs hoping to differentiate on product features, since everyone here runs the same video model. People with no ad budget relying on organic store traffic, since the keywords are already taken by these apps. Anyone aiming for long-term subscriptions, since dancing is a novelty and users leave after one or two videos.

How to do it: if you still go for it, don't copy. Fix the things users complain about.

  • First video free: watermarked or low-res is fine. Let users see their own face dancing first.
  • Sell per video, not weekly subscriptions. $1-2 per video is easy for users to judge.
  • Redo bad outputs for free, and let users choose whether to keep or replace the background.
  • Serve scenes it ignores: group photos, pet-specific templates, birthday or wedding videos meant to be gifted.
  • Try new markets: DancePop has shown Nigeria can drive volume, and Mylolens has done the same in India. Check whether other emerging markets and local-language store pages are still open.

How to get users: store search is the baseline, so put phrases like "AI dance" and "photo dance" in the title and subtitle. On TikTok, build a template around the dance that's trending right now, and post a before/after (original photo vs dancing) the day the template goes live. Prompt for a rating right after the paywall.

Before when: This wave has been building since early 2026, nearly a year now. Every time a big player updates its templates, the value of vertical apps gets diluted again. If you're going to build this, aim to launch before Q1 2027 (estimate).

What would mean we misread it: ① DanceHit and Dance AI's daily installs drop clearly before year-end, and DanceHit falls out of the US Photo & Video Top Grossing top 50. That means the trend is fading, and entering now only gets you the tail. ② The reverse: if a late follower like CleverMindAI, which only launched in October, breaks into a country's Top Grossing top 30 within a few months, there's still room for small teams here, and the call above was too conservative.

One line

Upload a photo (a person, a pet, a baby), pick a dance template, and AI makes that photo dance in a video. Billed in coins: subscribers get 1,500 coins a week, and you can also buy coin packs.

Verdict

DanceHit isn't a new category, and it isn't a small team getting lucky. It's a standard product: Turkish app factory HubX (2026-09 led by Point72, valued at $1.2B, with 40 profitable products) used its own publisher, ScaleUp, to add it to a category that was already proven.

  • Timing: "Photo dance" has been a major TikTok trend since early 2026, with Kling and CapCut both pushing tutorials. A few apps built specifically for it have already broken out, such as Dance AI (DeePix, 2026-01) and DancePop (2026-05).
  • Playbook: the HubX playbook. Hard paywall (no free trial, paywall appears after the user uploads photos), high price points ($11.99–$39.99 per item), in-app review prompts, and launching in several countries at once.
  • Result: installs are only a third of Dance AI's, yet it ranks #21 on the US Google Play Photo & Video Top Grossing chart, while Dance AI is #36. The gap comes from monetization efficiency and distribution, not the product features themselves.

1. Data

  • Installs: 406,371,7 days +69,897, about 10K/day (Google Play library app_profile, 2026-11-06). The curve keeps climbing: 10-29 is 336,474,11-06 is 406,371 (app_day).
  • Rating: 10-29 to 11-06 from 33,711 to 40,319,8 days +6,608; average 4.72; 5-star 33,882 reviews, 84% of total. Only 441 reviews have written text (app_snap).
    • Rating-to-install ratio about 10%: the same-category Dance AI is 30,812/1,327,220 ≈ 2.3%, and DancePop is 49,779/1,251,421 ≈ 4%. A very high share of star-only ratings with no written reviews fits apps mass-pulling ratings through Google's in-app rating prompt (inferred, not verified).
  • Charts (2026-11-06):
    • US Play Photography: Top Grossing #21, Top Free #23. Its Top Grossing rank climbed steadily from #27 on 10-29.
    • Argentina: #14 Top Grossing. Brazil, Canada: #22 Top Grossing. Also charted in the Photo & Video category in 23 more countries/regions (chart_rank).
  • The HubX family on the US Photo & Video Top Grossing chart: Momo (ScaleUp, #7), AI Video (HubX, #14), DanceHit (#21). One publisher holds 3 of the top 21 spots.
  • iOS: US store has 4,457 ratings, average 4.38; Brazil 213, UK 76, Turkey 38 (iTunes lookup, 2026-11-06). Our App Store database doesn't include it, which means it never charted in those stores.
  • Third-party estimate: ScreensDesign is estimated at 210k installs and $160k revenue per month (source, unverified).

3. Growth tactics

  1. Category trend + store search (confirmed; the strongest inference)
    • TikTok's discover page tags "Dancehit Dance Generator" with 7M posts, but most of the content is Kling/CapCut "2026 viral AI dance effect" tutorials (source).
    • The demand is driven by platform trends, and DanceHit uses the title keyword "AI Dance Generator" to catch search traffic.
  2. Paid acquisition (unconfirmed)
    • HubX has consistently grown through paid acquisition and has discussed its subscription infrastructure in an Adapty case study (source).
    • But our Meta / TikTok (Europe) / Google ad libraries don't match DanceHit. The library entries mapped to it, "ScaleUp Company" (Netherlands), "Scaleup Media Ltd" (Israel), and "ScaleUp" (Romania), are unrelated companies with similar names, and their creatives don't land on this app. Meta's library has no dancehit-related text either.
    • Google search surfaced one video titled "Make anyone dance with DanceHit", possibly an ad creative, but unverified.
  3. User content (small, confirmed)
    • A user video on YouTube, "AI Rasputin dance with my son using @dancehit app" (2026-10-11).
    • The #dancehit tag on TikTok has about 3,251 posts, mixed with music content tagged "dance hit"; a TikHub keyword search for dancehit returns 0 results.
    • X (x-radar): 60 posts in the last 0 days.
  4. In-app rating pull (inferred): rating count / installs about 10%, 2.5–4x that of comparable apps; 84% are 5-star, with very few written reviews.
  5. Multi-country launch + both platforms (confirmed): charting in 23 countries at once, running on iOS and Play simultaneously.

IV. Why it took off

  • Demand already proven: AI photo dancing has been a persistent TikTok trend for 2026 years, and Dance AI and DancePop have already shown it sells. DanceHit launched in July and rides validated demand.
  • Harder monetization:
    • No free generations; the paywall comes after the photo upload (per a ScreensDesign teardown), priced per item at $11.99–$39.99.
    • The result: installs are 30% of Dance AI's, but in the US Photo & Video top grossing it ranks 15 places higher (21 vs 36).
  • Backed by the HubX factory:
    • It shares a developer account with Nova (115M installs on Play), PlantApp, and Momo, with an existing subscription system, a paid acquisition team, and template-making experience.
    • Sibling apps Momo and AI Video already rank #7 and #14 in US Photo & Video top grossing; DanceHit replicates the same playbook in a vertical scene.
  • Store presence deliberately polished: a rating of 4.72 with 40k ratings, which lifts store conversion and search ranking.

5. Differentiation

  • Almost no functional differentiation: the same "photo + template = dance video," with templates grouped as "Trending / 80s / Iconic / Furry Friends."
  • The real differences are two things:
    • Operations and monetization: a hard paywall, high price points, rating drives, and a simultaneous multi-country launch.
    • Resources: HubX's acquisition and subscription capabilities.
  • So it took off because of the "factory playbook + category trend," not because the product is new.

6. Visibility

  • Almost nobody knows about it yet. No public revenue, and no media or big X accounts have written about the app itself; x-radar shows 0 mentions.
  • Only UI teardown sites like ScreensDesign have covered it, estimating 160k USD/month.
  • The category itself is already crowded: Dance AI, DancePop, Mylolens, and CleverMindAI are all here, and big players like CapCut and Kling offer it too.

VII. What to take away

  • Pull a single hit scene (dancing) out of an all-in-one template app, and build a keyword-precise niche app to catch trend search traffic.
  • Put the paywall after the user has already invested (after uploading a photo).
  • Use in-app rating prompts to push up rating count and average score.
  • Ship at scale through one large developer account portfolio.

8. Not sure

  • Acquisition channels and scale: the ad libraries don't match, so it may run under a different entity name or on Pages owned by HubX.
  • Revenue figures are third-party estimates only.
  • Retention is unknown: dancing is a one-time fun need, so subscription retention is doubtful.
  • Whether the ratings come from in-app prompts is only inferred.
