ReelDream: Short Drama Series · DONG SAI GON FURNITURE JOINT STOCK COMPANY

# A Vietnamese furniture company published a short-drama app: ReelDream and the two lines in its ads.txt

**What it is** A free vertical short-drama app built from a template, published under a Vietnamese furniture company's developer account. It earns only from interstitial ads, with no in-app purchases.

**Why it blew up** Starting early November, they ran short-drama clips on Facebook through renamed old Pages with install buttons. Installs went from over a hundred a day to over three thousand, while 87 pure 5-star ratings came in per day, pushing it to #13 on the Thailand Entertainment chart, where the bar is low.

**D** **How you could follow it** Don't follow the app itself. What's worth taking is the method: first work out what each install costs and what ad revenue it brings in cheap countries before you start, then use the ad-account IDs in ads.txt to count how many apps a category has and who is running them.

Grade D: it's one of over two hundred similar short-drama shells that launched in four months, and it ranks near the back. Its growth came from a borrowed company account, clip ads and rating inflation, with no content library, brand or product difference. A small team has no angle to follow it with, and it carries account-ban risk. Few people know about it yet

ReelDream: Short Drama Series Listed on Google Play in Oct 8. Under a month later it had 17k installs, and in Nov 6 it hit #13 in Thailand's Entertainment free chart. The developer listed on the store is "DONG SAI GON FURNITURE JOINT STOCK COMPANY", a Vietnamese furniture company. A furniture company doesn't make short dramas, of course. Following a two-line file on its website shows how the business really works: building apps from a template, publishing under a borrowed company developer account, running Facebook clip ads, and monetizing through ads. Below: how it came about, where the money comes from, how crowded this path is, and whether you should follow it.

### A two-line file

Google Play requires apps that earn from ads to place an ads.txt file in the root of the developer website, stating whose account receives the ad revenue. ReelDream's developer website is a Blogger blog, dongsaigonfurniturejointstockcompany.blogspot.com, created in Aug 13 and holding only one post introducing the company. Its ads.txt was posted in Oct 2 and consists of two lines:

> google.com, pub-4226576672608638, DIRECT facebook.com, 411776127249763, DIRECT

One AdMob account and one Meta Audience Network account. In Nov 6 I opened engineeringconstructionjsc.blogspot.com/ads.txt: the same two lines with the same two IDs. The app tied to that blog is DramaLand: ShortDrama & Series, developed by "ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION JOINT STOCK COMPANY", a Vietnamese construction company. It was listed in Oct 15 and has about 9,500 installs. Both package names end in `.drama.series`, and both privacy policies are hosted on Google Sites.

A furniture company, a construction company, two short-drama apps, and the ad revenue goes into the same account. The contact email on the store listing has no connection to the furniture company either; it's a personal Gmail.

### What it is

A free vertical short-drama app. The store description advertises a homepage of recommendations, rankings, search, playback speed and quality settings, and favorites, with categories Popular, Anime, New, Exclusive and Dubbed. It ends with "your destination for enjoying your favorite reelshorts and dramas", stuffing the name of the leading player ReelShort into its keywords. There are no in-app purchases, and the store marks it as containing ads. The privacy policy says it is "provided at no cost and is ad-supported" and lists AdMob and Firebase as third-party services.

The privacy policy was copied from another app and still mentions "core camera functionality", which this app doesn't have. Where the dramas come from (licensing, scraping or AI generation) can't be determined from public sources. The description mentions both "anime" and "dubbed" versions, which suggests a catalog aggregated from elsewhere (inference).

### Why a furniture company

Registering a Google Play organization developer account under a real, existing Vietnamese company is the standard move in Vietnamese short-drama shell matrices. It has two benefits. A personal developer account publishing a new app must first pass "12 testers for 14 days of closed testing", which an organization account doesn't. And if one account is banned, you only lose that account; apps under other companies' names stay up. Whether the furniture company knows about it, or whether it was authorized or hijacked, can't be verified from outside.

There aren't just one or two of these accounts. Google Play has 223 apps with names containing drama or reel that have been listed for under 120 days (11-06), with 135M installs combined and 17.3M new in 7 days. At least 50 are credited to Vietnamese companies. At least several groups can be linked through shared website hosting, package-name patterns and ad-account IDs in ads.txt:

| Group | Examples (credited companies) | Scale (Google Play installs, 11-06) |
|---|---|---|
| Official sites all hosted on Netlify | StoryReel (a staffing company), PopReel (a construction company), AuraReel (a pharma company)…… | About 60 apps, roughly 37.5M combined; AuraReel +550k in one week |
| Package names com.tranquiltmt.* | Plotwist, Chapture, Sirenya (a group company)…… | Shares ad accounts with apps under a lighting company |
| Official sites point to vionyx.co | DramaGo, DramaReels, DramaBinge (a materials trading company)…… | — |
| The ReelDream group | ReelDream (furniture), DramaLand (architecture) | Under 30k combined |

ReelDream's 17k installs rank far down among these two hundred-plus (same-category median about 156k). It's a small one.

### Where users come from

Start with the numbers (Google Play cumulative installs; the October figure is an AppstoreSpy estimate):

| Date | Total installs | Thailand Entertainment, Top Free |
|---|---|---|
| 10-08 | Launched | |
| 10-25 | About 4,959 | |
| 10-31 | 6,106 | 10-30 #138 |
| 11-03 | 10,574 | #93 |
| 11-05 | 17,161 | #29 |
| 11-06 | 17,161 | #13 (Thailand overall chart #56) |

Barely moved in October, then from 11-01 onward about 1,500,11-04 a day, then about 3,300 a day. 11-06 It also charts in Entertainment in 10 other countries, including the Philippines, Turkey, Hong Kong and Mexico, with ranks between 74 and 194.

The entry point is Facebook. A page called "Love ReelDream" changed its profile pic and cover on Oct 13 (Facebook labels it "AI content"), then on October 18 and 19 posted short drama clips nonstop. The captions read "Don't miss what happens next. Download the app now and follow the drama‼️ Watch full episodes" and "From intense revenge to billionaire romances, experience every emotion in 1 minute," with an "INSTALL NOW" button underneath. The page's ID suggests it was registered around 2021 years ago, and its category is still "Shopping & retail," so it's an old page that got renamed. It has only 90 to 111 followers, yet "talking about this" runs from 17k to 23k. Few followers, lots of engagement, and an install button fit the pattern of Meta app-install ads (inference, high confidence; we haven't verified how many ads were run or how much was spent).

The second signal is in ratings. 11-05 first got ratings, 136 of them averaging 5.0; by 11-06 there were 223, gaining 87 in a single day, all 5 stars, with not one written review. Real users don't produce that distribution. It's almost certainly fake or reward-incentivized ratings (inference). The ranking also climbed over these same two days.

Searching "ReelDream app" on TikTok returns only ReelShort distribution accounts. On X there were zero mentions in the last 30 days. No media outlet has written about it.

### Where the money comes from

Monetization is ads only: interstitial and rewarded video from AdMob and Meta Audience Network, shown during episodes. The math is what a Thai or Philippine user costs to acquire versus how many ads they see while watching. Installs are cheap in Southeast Asia and ad fill rates are fine. In early November, daily installs went from over a hundred to fifteen hundred, then to three thousand three hundred, while ratings were being inflated and a 1.0.1 version shipped. That looks like a small budget test that paid back, followed by more spending (inference, not verified).

Reaching #13 on Thailand's Entertainment chart also shows how low the bar is. The top 10 are big players: Melolo, TikTok's PineDrama, FreeReels, Disney+, ReelShort, DramaBox. Around #13 cluster shells like Coin Drama, Drama World Pro and Halo Reels Max. Roughly three thousand installs a day is enough to get there.

### Who it's competing with

Above them are the big players with licensed libraries that make money from coins and subscriptions: ReelShort and DramaBox each at about 307M installs, FreeReels at 246M, Melolo at 147M, PineDrama (on TikTok, 2025-12 listed) at 84M, and +3M in a single week (Google Play, 11-06). Next to them are clones running the same playbook, dozens of times smaller. Further out are the "watch dramas, earn cash" withdrawal-bait apps (the Halo Reels family at about 12.3M). VnExpress reported on this category in Oct 19, noting that these apps use fake withdrawals to lure people into watching ads, and some even carry malware.

Compared with the big players, ReelDream is free and sells no coins. Compared with the shells, it's the same in every way. What separates them is only how hard they spend on acquisition and how much installs they buy.

### How many people know about it

Ordinary users don't know about it, and no media or social platform mentions it. You'd think few people knowing is a good sign, but that doesn't apply here. What's unknown is the name ReelDream, not the playbook. Two hundred-plus apps run this playbook. Vietnamese media has covered it, and short-drama SDKs package content, players and monetization as ready-made components. ReelDream is itself a follower.

### If it were you

**D. Good to know, but not one to copy.** ReelDream has nothing you can copy: no original shows, no product edge. It grows on borrowed company accounts, old Facebook pages pushing clips, and 87 pure 5-star reviews a day, plus a low-bar chart. The same package hit 200+ over four months, and it sits near the back.

**Who it suits** : companies already making overseas short dramas, with content in hand and an acquisition team. Treat it as a competitor sample. Reaching #13 on Thailand's Entertainment chart takes roughly three thousand installs a day, so a new package testing payback can start from a small chart like this.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie developers and small teams. The cost in this business is content and acquisition; the app itself is a template. Borrowing company accounts, buying ratings and copying privacy policies all violate Google Play policy, and bans are routine. These operations rely on running many accounts, which one person can't sustain. If you haven't run Meta ads or can't calculate how many days a user takes to pay back, entering this market means paying tuition.

**How to do it** : two methods from it can be applied to other categories. First, the cost structure: buy installs in cheap countries, monetize with ads, scale up once payback is confirmed. Work out how much ad revenue each install brings and how much each install costs before writing any code. Second, the way to research competitors: open a rival developer's ads.txt, note the AdMob publisher ID, then search other ads.txt files for that same ID. This shows how many apps one operation runs and which are run by the same person. This is worth doing before entering any ad-monetized category.

**How to acquire users** : this category has only one route. Run vertical drama-clip ads on Meta and TikTok, with a "Watch full episodes" line and an install button, in local languages, testing many creatives at once.

**When to get in before it's crowded** : there's no rush. This window doesn't belong to small teams.

**What would show this read is wrong** : (1) if ReelDream's cumulative installs passed 200k by early December and it stayed in the top 30 of Thailand's Entertainment chart, the people behind it are still spending, and the shell's unit economics are better than they look; (2) if a third or fourth "some company" short-drama package keeps appearing under the same AdMob account and each reaches the hundred-thousands, the borrowed-account, clip-ads model can keep working in Southeast Asia for a while; (3) conversely, if it drops off the charts in December, stops updating, or its company-account packages are taken down in batches, that would confirm it was only a small-budget test.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **Facebook page posting clips + install button (most likely Meta app-install ads)** : the "Love ReelDream" page (ID 100069965124282, an old page renamed, category still Shopping & retail), 10-18 and 10-19 clip posts, copy "Download the app now… Watch full episodes", INSTALL NOW button; 90–111 followers, 1.7–23k "talking about this"

- Inference **Paid Meta distribution** : few followers, lots of engagement, plus an install button, fits ad delivery; the metaads library doesn't track this page, and the number of ads running was not verified

- Inference **Inflated ratings / incentivized reviews** : 223 ratings all 5 stars, 0 written reviews, 11-05 to 11-06 gained +87 in a day, while rank climbed at the same time (googleplay library app_snap)

- **Verified** **Account matrix built on a company developer account** : the developer is a Vietnamese furniture company, the contact email is an unrelated personal Gmail, the blogspot site was created 08-13; the AdMob pub-4226576672608638 and Meta 411776127249763 in ads.txt are the same as DramaLand's (a construction company account)

- **Verified** **Store category chart / search** : Thailand Entertainment chart 138 → 13, overall chart 56; also Entertainment charts in 10 other countries, 74–194; AppBrain US new-release free Entertainment chart #26

## Why ReelDream: Short Drama Series (com.sgft.reeldream.drama.series) got this far

> Channel: Google Play. Developer listed as "DONG SAI GON FURNITURE JOINT STOCK COMPANY" (a Vietnamese furniture company). Research date 2026-11-06.

### Bottom line

It isn't a product that took off on its own. It's one **small account** in a Vietnamese business that mass-produces short-drama shell apps by borrowing other companies' developer accounts. Each app is built from a template and published under a Vietnamese furniture company's developer account. It earns from AdMob ads. On Facebook, an old page with a renamed title posts short-drama clips with an "INSTALL NOW" call to action to drive installs, and a batch of 5-star ratings with no written reviews gets added. The Thai entertainment chart has a low bar, so it reached #13. Total installs are 17K, which ranks well down the list in its category (more than two hundred similar apps launched in the past 4 months, with 135M total installs). The thing worth watching isn't this one app, it's the whole short-drama shell-app matrix.

### 1. Data: how much it grew and where

| Date | Total installs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-08 | — | Store launch (googleplay library `app.released`, not reset) |
| 10-25 | 4,959 | AppstoreSpy estimate (`app_day_ext`) |
| 10-27 | 5,683 | AppstoreSpy estimate |
| 10-31 | 6,106 | 10-28 to 10-31 about 106 a day, nearly flat |
| 11-03 | 10,574 | 11-01 to 11-03 about 1,489 a day |
| 11-05 | 17,161 | 11-04 to 11-05 about 3,294 a day; version 1.0.1 (11-04 update) |

- **Ratings** : 11-05 first received ratings, 136 of them averaging 5.0; by 11-06 there were 223 (+87 in a day). The distribution is `[0,0,0,0,223]`, **all 5 stars, 0 written reviews** (googleplay library `app_snap`). Real users don't produce that pattern, so these are almost certainly fake or incentivized ratings. Not a single review for this app was captured in the library.

- **Charts** : Thailand Entertainment Top Free 10-30 #138 → 11-03 #93 → 11-05 #29 → 11-06 #13; Thailand overall chart 11-05 #135 → 11-06 #56. 11-06 also charted in Entertainment in the Philippines (74), Turkey (95), Hong Kong (96), Mexico, Italy, Indonesia, Argentina, Poland, Spain and Nigeria, with ranks between 140 and 194 (`chart_rank`). AppBrain's US "new release free Entertainment" chart listed it at #26 (from a search summary; exact date not verified).

- **Monetization** : `ad_supported = True`, no in-app purchases (`offers_iap = False`). The privacy policy says it is "provided at no cost and is ad-supported", and lists AdMob and Firebase as third-party services.

- Thailand entertainment chart 11-06 top 10: Melolo, PineDrama (TikTok), FreeReels, Disney+, ReelShort, DramaBox, DramaBox Lite, NetShort, Viu, DramaShorts. Rank 13 on the Thailand entertainment chart is easy to get: it sits between shell apps like Coin Drama, Drama World Pro and Halo Reels Max.

### II. Who it really is: a group of accounts run by one person

- The developer website is listed as `dongsaigonfurniturejointstockcompany.blogspot.com/ads.txt`. This Blogger site was created 2026-08-13 and has only one post introducing the company. The contact email is kedidafarida1983@gmail.com, a personal Gmail with no connection to the company (googleplay library `app` table).

- That ads.txt file (published 10-02) contains `google.com, pub-4226576672608638` and `facebook.com, 411776127249763`. **The same AdMob account and Meta Audience Network account** also appear in `engineeringconstructionjsc.blogspot.com/ads.txt`. The app tied to that site is DramaLand: ShortDrama & Series (`com.engineer.dramaland.drama.series`, developer "ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION JOINT STOCK COMPANY", listed 10-15, 9,485 installs). Its package name also ends in `.drama.series`, it also uses a Blogger site for ads.txt, and it also uses Google Sites for its privacy policy. **The ad revenue from these two apps goes into the same person's accounts.**

- The privacy policy (Google Sites, 10-02) is a template copied from another app. It still says "core camera functionality," but this app has no camera features at all.

- Pairing short-drama apps with company names like "furniture company / construction company / pharma / textile mill" is a fixed pattern in the Vietnamese shell matrix: **register Google Play organization developer accounts using real Vietnamese companies** . Organization accounts don't have to go through the personal-account requirement of "12 testers, closed testing for 14 days" before new apps go live, and if an account is banned, only that one account is lost. The library shows many apps using this same pattern (see Section IV).

### 3. Where users come from (growth levers)

1. **Facebook page posting clips + install button (confirmed)** : Facebook page "Love ReelDream" (page id 100069965124282). The id range suggests the page was created around 2021 years ago, and its category is still "Shopping & retail," so it was probably an old page renamed and repurposed. 10-13 changed the profile picture and cover (Facebook labeled it "AI content"). 10-18 and 10-19 posted short-drama clips with captions like "Don't miss what happens next. Download the app now and follow the drama‼️ Watch full episodes" and "From intense revenge to billionaire romances, experience every emotion in 1 minute," with an "INSTALL NOW" button. The page has only **90–111 followers** , but **16,985–22,557** "talking about this," and one post has 133 reactions (page summary retrieved via Jina). Few followers paired with high engagement and an install button fits **Meta app-install ads** . Our metaads library doesn't track this page, so the number of ads running was not verified.

2. **Likely rating manipulation** : all 223 ratings are 5-star, with no written reviews. It gained 87 ratings in one day, and its ranking climbed in those same few days.

3. **Organic store traffic and category charts** : entertainment charts in Thailand and the Philippines have low entry barriers. Once an app charts, it gets more exposure from "Short Drama" keyword searches and chart placement. Software download sites (Softonic, CNET Download, chrome-stats) automatically index it, but they bring little traffic.

4. **Not found** : searching TikTok for "ReelDream app" turned up no accounts or videos for this app (TikHub; results were ReelShort distribution accounts). On X, 30 posts in the last 0 days (x-radar). No media coverage.

5. **Where the money comes back** : AdMob and Meta Audience Network ads run while people watch, and the paid acquisition is recouped through ad revenue. The install growth pattern: almost stopped at end of October, then from 11-01 onward 1.5k per day, then from 11-04 onward 3.3k per day. At the same time ratings started climbing and a new version was released. This looks like a test that paid back, followed by scaling the budget, but it is not verified.

### 4. Competitors

**Legitimate short-drama platforms (licensed content + coins / subscriptions)** : ReelShort (NewLeaf, 2022, Play 307M installs, +5.51M in 7 days), DramaBox (StoryMatrix, 2023B), FreeReels / DramaWave (Skywork / Kunlun, 2024B / 152M), NetShort (162M), Melolo (ByteDance-linked POLIGON, 147M), PineDrama (TikTok, 2025-1.28B, +3M in 7 days), ShortMax, GoodShort, FlickReels (googleplay library 11-06). These all have their own licensed libraries and earn from coins and subscriptions, and they rank above ReelDream on the Thailand entertainment chart.

**Shell matrix in the same space (real competitors, and also copycats)** : in the googleplay library, entertainment and utility apps with drama/reel in their names, first listed less than 120 days ago, total **223 apps, 135M total installs, +17.3M added in 7 days** , with a median of 156k installs. At least 50 of them are credited to Vietnamese companies (JSC, CONG TY…). ReelDream's 17k places it well toward the bottom. Some of the groups that can be identified:

- **The netlify group** : StoryReel (NIKKO VIET NAM MANPOWER, 1.43M), PopReel (HOA BINH Construction, 3.06M), ReelSaga (Haiphong Architecture Design, 1.06M), AuraReel (CPC1 Pharma, 770k, +550k in 7 days), LumaReel, FrostBinge, SwoonReel… Package names follow the pattern `com.<name>.<word>.app`, websites follow `<name>.netlify.app`, and ads.txt lists the same set of AdMob pub IDs (pub-5965765613398032 etc.) and Pangle. The library shows 60 short-drama apps whose websites are on netlify, totaling about 37.5M installs. Many run on the same 2026-08-29 / 08-31 setup.

- **The tranquilmind group** : Plotwist, Chapture, Calyssa (ManhNhe), Marquisse (AndyCao), Slatora / Dramelo (StrongMan), Sirenya / Sablio (COTANA Group)… Package names all follow `com.tranquiltmt.*`, and they share the same AdMob pub IDs as SDramiq, which sits under the Vietnamese lighting company NVC.

- **The vionyx group** : DramaGo (VIGLAFICO), DramaReels (KNP), DramaBinge (PHUC KHANG Materials Trading), DramaVibe (VINAINCON), all pointing to vionyx.co.

- **ReelDream's own group** : ReelDream + DramaLand (ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION JSC), same AdMob / Meta account. Separately, Reelvani (HAI DANG ARCHITECTURE AND FURNITURE JSC, 128k) is also under a furniture company name, but its ad accounts differ, so it follows the same playbook without necessarily being the same operator.

- There is also a non-Vietnamese category of "earn money watching short dramas" shells (the Halo Reels series 12.3M, CoinReel, CashDrama, Coin Drama). VnExpress 2026-10-19 reported that this type of app uses withdrawal bait to trick people into watching ads, and some even contain malware.

### 5. Differentiation

**No differentiation.** The name, description ("Discover Featured Drama Series… Watch Short Dramas Anytime, Anywhere"), features, and everything else are identical to hundreds of other shells, and the privacy policy is copied. Compared with legitimate platforms, its only difference is that it's free, ad-supported, and doesn't sell coins, but every similar shell works this way too. Compared with other shells, what separates the winners is only the strength of paid acquisition and rating manipulation. Where its content comes from was not verified: whether it is licensed, scraped, or AI-generated cannot be determined from public sources.

### VI. Why it "broke out" (it only surfaced briefly)

1. Category timing: short drama was the hottest Entertainment category on Google Play for 2025–2026 years. ReelShort, DramaBox and TikTok's PineDrama spent that time educating users and building search volume, so shell apps copying names and keywords could pick up traffic.

2. Account strategy: bulk-publishing through organization developer accounts tied to Vietnamese companies skips the personal-account closed-testing requirement and spreads ban risk. At least 2 apps sit under the same ad account.

3. Paid acquisition + rating manipulation: an old Facebook page renamed and used to post clips with an install button, scaling from early November (1.5k → 3.3k per day), while 87 pure 5-star ratings were added in one day. In Thailand's low-barrier category chart, that pushed it up to rank 13.

4. Monetization model: interstitial and rewarded ads from AdMob and Meta Audience Network. Installs are cheap in Southeast Asia, and ad fill rates are sufficient.

### 7. What's worth borrowing

- **The break-even math for paid acquisition** : buy installs in a cheap region → monetize with ads → increase spend once paid back. What's worth doing is first working out "how much ad revenue each install brings in" and "how much each install costs," not copying this app.

- **How to find the same group of operators** : look at the AdMob pub IDs in ads.txt, how the developer website is hosted (Blogger / netlify / Google Sites), and the package name patterns. That lets you connect the shell matrix and see the scale and playbook of a group. This method is reusable.

- Not recommended to copy: borrowing company accounts, manipulating ratings, and faking privacy policies all violate Google Play policy, carry high ban risk, and the category is already saturated.

### 8. What's still uncertain
