TifoLive: Football Scores · TRANSPORT HOSPITAL GAME

Three weeks after launch it had only 171 installs, then added 40k the next day: a football scores app under the "Transport Hospital" name in Hanoi

What it is A generic football scores app with the same features as FotMob and Sofascore. Free, ad-supported, from a Vietnamese team that mass-produces apps.

Why it took off It didn't go viral organically. It was paid acquisition at tens of thousands of installs a day. Then it targeted sports charts in countries like South Korea and Vietnam, where a few thousand installs a day can reach #1, reaching #1, and repeated opens on match days paid back the ad spend.

CHow you could follow it Stop building yet another generic scores shell. Copy its playbook instead: find low-barrier country category charts, pick a niche with frequent opens and weak incumbents (a league, a sport, a language), and buy installs through Google App Ads in cheap regions to climb the charts.

Grade C: the playbook is worth learning (arbitrage on low-barrier category charts plus high-frequency niches), but generic football scores is crowded, same-model paid clones with ten times the budget already exist, and it has no data source or brand edge of its own, so copying it isn't worth the effort. Almost nobody knows about it yet

The football scores app "TifoLive: Football Scores" launched on Google Play in Sep 14. By Oct 3 it had only 171 installs, then added 4 on Oct 41,221 alone. A month later it had 600k cumulative installs and ranked #1 on the sports free charts in South Korea and Vietnam. Its developer account belongs to a joint-stock company in Hanoi called "Transport Hospital", and the same group of Vietnamese people uses six accounts to push a dozen-plus apps, of which this is one. This piece explains how it climbed, what pays for it, and what you can take from it.

Oct 4: from 171 to 41,392

According to third-party AppstoreSpy estimates, TifoLive had almost no installs in the three weeks after launch: 171 cumulative by Oct 3. On Oct 4 it added +41,221 in one day, reached 182k by Oct 8, 340k by Oct 21, and 463k by Oct 25. Google Play's own cumulative count was 603,670 on Nov 6, with +128,810 over the last 7 days.

The curve climbs in steps: one +59k jump on Oct 31, another +52k on Nov 3, with the days in between being 0 (Google Play daily cumulative counts, 10-29 through 11-06). Play install counts only refresh every few days, so don't over-trust single-day numbers. But going from 171 installs in three weeks to 40k in one day, with no coverage, videos or posts in between, means someone was buying ads (inference: no creatives found in public ad libraries, and the specific channel is unverified).

The rating count doesn't match the install count either: 600k installs, 488 ratings, about 0.08%. Users who found it organically usually rate at a much higher rate.

What it is

A standard football scores app: live scores, match timelines (goals, cards, substitutions), lineups and formations, league tables, fixtures, goal and kickoff alerts, followed teams. Every line of the store description has a counterpart in FotMob and Sofascore, and they do it deeper. The name "Tifo" refers to the huge choreographed displays fans create in Italian stadium stands, the only bit of brand character the app has.

The version stayed at 1.0.2 and wasn't updated during the month when paid acquisition peaked. The store page doesn't mark it as containing ads and has no in-app purchases, but AppGoblin's Oct 8 scan of the APK found one ad network, one ad mediation SDK and one analytics SDK. Where the money comes from is fairly clear.

The three top pinned reviews: one "good" (159 people found it helpful), one "fake" (304 found it helpful), and one "tifo live foot ball". The newest review on the Vietnam page (11-04) is a Mandela quote: "After climbing one mountain, you find many more mountains to climb." The average rating is 4.5 in Vietnam and 3.8 in South Korea. In the rating distribution, the 4-star count is 0,1 for both 2 and 48 stars, a shape that doesn't look natural. Whether ratings were inflated hasn't been verified.

Who made it: a "T9" app factory

The developer account is named TRANSPORT HOSPITAL GAME, and the legal entity listed under "About the developer" in the store is TRANSPORT HOSPITAL JOINT STOCK COMPANY, at No. 169 Huỳnh Thúc Kháng Street, Hanoi, a transport hospital. Under the same account sit a screw puzzle, a comic reader, short dramas, and this scores app. Registering a Play organization account in the name of a real company unrelated to the app gets around the closed-testing requirement that new personal accounts have faced since 2023 (≥12 testers). This is fairly common in Vietnamese circles (inference; whether the account was bought or rented is unverified).

Following the package prefix com.t9, the cross-linked "more apps" sections in the store, and a shared blogspot developer website, you can trace six accounts and a dozen-plus apps (Google Play, 11-06):

These apps follow the same curve shape: quiet for a while, then a jump of tens of thousands to a hundred-plus thousand in a single day. None of them went viral by chance. A factory is rolling out apps through the same process, and TifoLive is just that process applied to football scores.

How it reached #1

Because it picked low-barrier charts. On Nov 6, the top free sports apps on the South Korea Play store were: TifoLive, the fishing app 어신, Golfzon, Decathlon, a golf booking app... Most of these were adding only 7 to 3k new installs over the last 16 days. There, a few thousand installs a day is enough to take the top spot.

From Oct 30, TifoLive sat at #1 on the South Korea sports free chart daily, and even reached #85 to #140 on the overall South Korea app chart. On the Vietnam sports chart it climbed from #12 to #1 by Nov 6; #6 in Taiwan and #9 in Thailand; the US, UK, Germany and France hovered around #100. In total it charted in 26 storefronts (Google Play charts, 10-29 through 11-06).

Charting gets you some extra organic traffic from chart browsing and store search. Its title is keyword-style "Football Scores", and the description is stuffed with live scores, fixtures, lineups and league tables, all aimed at search. Searching its name on TikTok returns 0 videos; X has 0 posts in the last 30 days; the only other web presence is auto-generated pages on APK download sites and app data sites.

Where the money comes from: match-day ads

No in-app purchases, so the money can only come from ads: app open, interstitial and native ads. Why scores? Because scores users open the app several times on a match night, and each open is an ad impression. One season of a scores user probably brings in more ad revenue than a PDF reader or file recovery app that gets deleted after one use (inference). The math works like this: buy users in Vietnam, Southeast Asia or Latin America where install costs are low, keep raising budget as long as each user's ad revenue exceeds what you paid for them, and when it stops adding up, pause and move to the next app.

How much it pays per install and how much it earns can't be seen from outside; unverified.

There's another rival that needs no install: search a team name on Google and the score card shows up. TifoLive's only edge over it is push notifications.

Generic football score apps are one of the most crowded template categories on Play. Several million-install clones that rose on paid acquisition appeared in 2025 to 2026 alone. TifoLive is mid-to-small in that pack.

If it were you

Verdict: C. What's worth learning is the playbook: target categories like Korea and Vietnam where a few thousand daily installs can top the chart, and pick a high-frequency category to make ad revenue pay back the ad spend. But cloning yet another football score app doesn't pay: the features are everywhere, paid-acquisition clones already run ten times bigger, and you have no data source or brand.

Who it suits: teams already running a batch of utility apps, with Google App Campaigns and AdMob experience, who can read the cost of each install and the ad revenue per user, and who can accept that a package that doesn't work gets shut down.

Who it doesn't suit: indie devs who want a long-term product; people who've never run paid ads and can't do the acquisition math; anyone with a single developer account who's gone if it gets banned.

If you still want to build it: don't make another generic score shell. Use its playbook somewhere else:

  1. Start with low-barrier charts. Pull the new installs over the last ~1 days for each country's Play free chart, #7 and up, and look at the ones where "a few thousand installs gets #1", like Korean sports. There are plenty of those.
  2. Pick a small category with high usage frequency and weak incumbent coverage: a particular league, a sport (cricket, esports, Korean baseball), or scores and fixtures in a given language. FotMob and Sofascore cover the world generically; localization and minor sports are where they're weak (inference).
  3. Buy proper sports data feeds. That's the main cost, so work out the numbers before you launch.

How to get users: Google App Campaigns. Start in cheap-install markets like Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, and write the store title and description around keywords. Push into the top 3 of one or two low-barrier country charts to pick up organic traffic from chart placement and search.

Timing window: football season runs until next May, and the more match days there are, the easier ads sell. Anyone can copy this playbook, so count the window in months.

Signs we're misreading it: if it's still climbing by tens of thousands a week 30 days from now, with ratings keeping up and versions shipping, then the ad economics of score apps are better than we estimated, and it's worth following closely. Conversely, if in a month or two its installs flatten around 600–700K and it drops out of the Korean and Vietnamese sports top 20, then it was a one-off paid-acquisition test that stopped when the spend stopped. Other packages from the same factory likely share that fate.

The ad library didn't track these accounts, so no creatives were retrieved.
  • Confirmed Pushing up charts in low-barrier storefronts: on Korea's SPORTS chart, other apps added only 7k–3k over 16 days, while TifoLive held #10-30 in a row starting 1, and even reached #85–140 on Korea's overall app chart. It also placed in the top 10 in Vietnam, Taiwan, and Thailand.
  • Verified multi-account matrix (app factory): apps with com.t9* package names are spread across developer accounts TRANSPORT HOSPITAL GAME, T9Studio, Gnurt, notStudio, SMARTSOL, and Devio Studio, which cross-share a blogspot developer site. 9–October, this batch totals over 5M installs across 6 accounts.

Why TifoLive: Football Scores (com.t9livescore.tifo) could run up installs

Channel: Google Play | Developer account: TRANSPORT HOSPITAL GAME (legal entity shown as TRANSPORT HOSPITAL JOINT STOCK COMPANY, Hanoi, Vietnam) | Store launch 2026-09-14 | Research date 2026-11-06

Bottom line

TifoLive didn't grow on the strength of the product itself. It's one product from a batch by a Vietnamese "T9" app factory. The same group has used at least 6 developer accounts, and since September it has mass-launched a string of utility apps: PDF readers, file recovery, wallpapers, IPTV players, two-player mini-games, comic readers, and score apps. Each one stays silent for a few weeks, then surges by tens of thousands of installs in a day. TifoLive is that playbook applied to football scores. It topped Korea's and Vietnam's free sports charts because the sports chart bar in those storefronts is low (Korea's list has fishing and golf-booking apps), not because users were drawn to it. The money almost certainly comes from ad monetization (AppGoblin detected 1 ad networks and 1 mediation SDKs), following a "paid acquisition + ad revenue payback" arbitrage logic.

1. Data: how much did it actually grow?

  • Cumulative global installs 603,670, +128,810 in the last 7 days (googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06). Only 488 ratings, a ratings-to-installs ratio of about 0.08%. Organically grown utility apps typically sit above 0.3%–1%, so this ratio is low, which suggests most installs didn't come from users who went looking for it.
  • Trajectory since launch (googleplay library app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimates): launched 9-14, then only 171 installs until 10-03, after which it gained +41,221 in a single day 10-04, reaching 182k by 10-08, 340k by 10-21, and 463k by 10-25, then 5k–30k per day. Several single-day jumps of 4–55k in between, plus days with only a few hundred new installs, the classic pattern of ads switched on and off. (Google's install counts refresh only every few days, so single-day figures shouldn't be taken literally, but "from 171 to 40k" can only come from external traffic.)
  • Charts (googleplay library chart_rank, 10-29 to 11-06): Korea SPORTS free chart #10-30 every day starting 1, and at one point reached #85–140 on Korea's overall app chart; Vietnam SPORTS climbed from #12 to #11-06 #1; #6 in Taiwan, #9 in Thailand, best #12 in Brazil, best #14 in Italy, best #15 in South Africa; the US, UK, Germany, and France hovered around #100. Charted in 26 storefronts in total.
  • The chart bar: 11-06 In Korea's SPORTS top 8 sit TifoLive, the fishing app 어신 (+5.8k over 7 days), Golfzon, Decathlon, and golf booking... Most of them add only 3k–16k over 7 days. In other words, topping Korea's sports chart takes a few thousand installs a day, which you can buy.
  • Rating distribution [1★48, 2★48, 3★97, 4★0, 5★292] (app_snap 11-06), average 3.9. The top pinned review on the store page reads "fake" and was marked helpful by 304 people (Play page, 2026-10-06); the other two are empty short reviews like "good" and "tifo live foot ball".
  • The version has stayed at 1.0.2 throughout (the store lists 9-27 updates; APKPure lists 10-18,30.4 MB). The product wasn't iterated during the paid-acquisition push.

2. Who they are: the Vietnamese "T9" app factory

Package-name prefix com.t9*, cross-links under "More by" on the store, and shared blogspot domains on developer sites tie together a string of accounts under different names (googleplay library app and app_profile, 2026-11-06):

TifoLive's privacy policy page is sites.google.com/view/tifolive, and its menu is in Vietnamese: "Trang chủ" (Home).
  • The developer account's legal entity is "TRANSPORT HOSPITAL JOINT STOCK COMPANY" (No. 169 Huỳnh Thúc Kháng Street, Hanoi, per "About the developer" on the Play page). The name belongs to a transport hospital and has nothing to do with making apps, yet the same account publishes screw puzzles, comic readers, short dramas, and football scores. This looks like a bought or rented corporate developer account (since 2023, Play has required new personal accounts to pass a closed test with 12 people, and corporate accounts can sidestep that; account trading is common in Vietnamese circles). This is inference and hasn't been verified.
  • The common curve across this batch: at AppstoreSpy's first observation point, they're already at tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands (TifoLive is the exception, silent first and then +41k in a day), after which single-day gains peak at +37k to +196k (app_day_ext max_ipd). This is batch paid acquisition at factory scale, not a product that happened to take off.

3. Where users came from (growth tactics)

How the money comes back: the Play page doesn't say "contains ads" and there are no in-app purchases (app_snap ad_supported=False, offers_iap=False). But when AppGoblin scanned the SDKs on 10-08 it detected 1 ad networks, 1 mediation (aggregation) SDKs, and 1 analytics SDKs, so monetization is almost certainly app-open, interstitial, and native ads. Other apps from the same factory are marked "contains ads" on Play. The app also includes Google sign-in, and its data safety declaration lists location and personal information collection, shared with third parties. The logic: score apps get opened repeatedly on match days, with many sessions and many ad impressions, so per-user lifetime ad revenue (LTV) is higher than for PDF readers. As long as that covers acquisition costs in low-CPI markets like Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, it makes money. Actual eCPM and ROI are unverified.

What it shows: generic football scores are one of the most crowded template niches on Play. In 2025–2026 alone, several million-level paid-acquisition clones launched. TifoLive is mid-to-small within that field.

5. Differentiation

At the product level there's no visible differentiation. The feature list (live scores, timelines, lineups, standings, goal alerts, followed teams) matches FotMob, Sofascore, and dozens of clones. The name "Tifo" (the terrace-chanting culture) just sounds a bit more brand-like. What actually sets it apart is distribution: an app factory running across many accounts buys installs and pushes it to #1 in low-barrier sports charts like Korea and Vietnam. So the differentiator isn't why it ranks. The playbook is.

6. How many people know about it

Few people know about it: no press coverage, no 0 discussion on X or TikTok, no disclosed revenue. There are only auto-generated pages on AppBrain, Softonic, APKPure, AppGoblin, and Sensor Tower. But the "utility template + paid acquisition + ad monetization" playbook is a publicly known old trick in the Vietnam and India going-global circles, and the niche is already crowded.

7. Takeaways

  • Ad arbitrage on high-frequency categories: during the season, scores apps get opened several times a day, so they have more ad inventory than one-off utilities.
  • Spread across many accounts and categories at once. Whichever ROI turns positive gets more budget. No single app's survival matters.
  • Push for charts in low-barrier stores and categories (in Korea's SPORTS, a few thousand installs a day can reach #1) to win chart exposure and organic installs.
  • Soft-launch quietly, get through review, age the accounts for a few weeks, then ramp up large daily volume.

8. Still unclear

  • Which channels exactly (Google UAC, Mintegral, Unity, etc.), per-store CPI, eCPM, and ROI. Google's Ads Transparency Center wasn't checked for this account.
  • Why the Play listing doesn't tag "Contains ads" (undeclared, or ads only in some stores or versions).
  • Whether the "TRANSPORT HOSPITAL" account was bought, and who the real entity behind the "T9" factory is.
  • Whether reviews are being faked (the rating distribution looks suspicious).
  • Retention and curves at 30 days (the 30-day window in the library won't have data until 11-28).
