# 29k installs put it on Italy's book bestseller chart at #10: how the werewolf web-novel app Novellea used small European languages to get around chart barriers

**What it is** An app for serialized werewolf, billionaire CEO, and revenge web novels, all translated into European languages. The first few chapters are free, and the rest are unlocked one by one with coins.

**Why it took off** It skips the US and UK and runs paid ads in Poland, Italy, and France, where book bestseller charts have low entry barriers. The store page and the full text are localized, and high-priced chapters with no ads bring in high-value payers. A few tens of thousands of installs was enough to chart on several countries' bestseller lists.

**C** **How you could follow it** Teams with licensed web novels and an ad budget could go after smaller, emptier languages like Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Dutch, or the Nordic languages. Pair one genre with one language as a narrow sub-brand, and use the most intense passages from the book as ad creative on Meta and Google.

C grade: the tactic works, and few people know this app, but doing Europe's small languages with web novels is a crowded old road (about 100 similar apps, and seven or eight new sub-brands from the same batch this year). It also requires a lot of licensed content and sustained ad budget that small teams can't get. Learn the market selection and localization thinking, but copying it directly isn't worth it. Few people know about it yet

A werewolf romance reading app registered to a Hong Kong company went live on Google Play in Sep 21. It skipped the US and UK and sold only translated werewolf, billionaire CEO, and revenge novels in Polish, Italian, German, French, and Spanish. By Nov 6 it had 29k cumulative installs, up 16k over 7 days, and was simultaneously on Italy's book bestseller chart at #10, France at #15, Spain at #20, and Germany at #21. The product has nothing new. It took off because of the tactic: pick charts with low barriers and localize the entire pipeline into each language.

### A Polish-language bad review

In Oct 27, a Polish user gave Novellea 1 stars: "The opening is gripping, but if you want to keep reading you have to pay real money. Too bad." The next day another user wrote in English with 3 stars: "I hate that you can't unlock chapters by watching ads, and the free coins expire after 7 days."

That same week, another user gave 5 stars for one reason: "Very interesting app, thank you so much, I can read it in Polish."

These three reviews pretty much capture the whole app: chapters are expensive, there are no ads, and free coins expire, pushing people who are halfway through a story to pay. The people who do pay are often doing it because they can finally read this kind of novel in their own language.

### What it is

Novellea is a serialized web novel reading app with three genres: werewolves ("fated mates", "the rejected Luna", "the Alpha who claims first and explains later"), billionaire CEO romance (contract marriages, hidden heirs), and betrayal revenge (the abandoned wife returns stronger). Anyone who has read GoodNovel or Dreame will recognize it: it's the genre playbook Chinese teams have run for five or six years in overseas web fiction.

Each country gets its own store title: Poland gets "Wilkołaki i romans" (werewolves and romance), Italy gets "Lupi Mannari e Alfa" (werewolves and Alphas), Spanish gets "Hombres Lobo y Alfas", and German gets "Werwolf-Liebesromane". The descriptions are fully translated too. The Polish page's last line is blunt: "Unlock chapters with coins, or subscribe for more every week."

The developer is Xinyuanhui Technology Limited, based in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong. The package name and email use trilobiteecho.com, and it has only this one app. One detail: its official website still says "The app isn't live yet, the bookshelf is filling up." The tone is quiet and literary, like "a library that never closes," which is nothing like the "Alpha werewolves, cold billionaires" vibe of the store page. The website looks like a front that was built before launch.

### How big it is now

| Metric | Metric | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Total installs | 10-29 to 13,312 in 11-06 days, +29,391,7 for 16,079 | Google Play store page |
| Score | 10-29's 1,416 → 11-01's 1,835, with only 5 more in the following week | Google Play store page |
| Books Top Grossing chart | Italy #10, France #15, Spain #20, Germany #21, Mexico #33, Brazil #47 | Google Play charts, 11-06 |
| Books Free chart | Poland #13 (10-31 to 11-03, peak #7), Italy #21 | Google Play charts |
| Pricing | In-app purchases $0.99–$99.99 on one item, no ads, coins + weekly subscription | Google Play store page |

Not on a single chart in the US or UK. That's deliberate.

The ratings line is worth a second look. In the last four days of October, the app gained over 420 ratings, and at one point rating count was above 10% of installs, while this kind of app usually sits around 1–3%. Of the 62 visible reviews, all are in Polish and all fall between 10-26 and 10-30. Most are one- or two-word reviews like "super", "ok", or "polecam" (recommended), with 5 stars. After Nov 1, it picked up 10K+ more installs, yet the rating barely moved. It looks like they ran an in-app rating prompt for a while (or traded coins for ratings) to push the score up to 4.5, then turned it off (inference).

### How does a few tens of thousands of installs get you onto a bestseller chart?

Because the book bestseller charts in these countries have a very low bar. Same day, same category, a few comparisons (Google Play, 11-06):

| App | Installs | 7-day gain | Italy / Germany / France bestsellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Novellea(2026-09) | 29k | 16k | #10 / #21 / #15 |
| PassionNovel(2026-05) | 94k | 6.7k | #12 / #14 / #20 |
| NovelSpark(2025-11) | 180k | 35k | #15 / #16 / #23 |
| NovelaGo(2024-08) | 1.9M | 24k | #7 / #12 / #10 |
| Galatea(2018) | 12.4M | 36k | #5 / #5 / #3 |

Apps with tens of thousands of installs and apps with over ten million sit in the same top 20. That tells you two things: web-novel apps like this earn a lot per paying user (top tier $99.99), and the book bestseller charts in Italy, France and Germany don't move much money to begin with. So charting in several countries doesn't mean big revenue. Going by rank, monthly gross is probably in the tens of thousands of dollars (estimate, not verified).

### Where users come from

Almost certainly bought:

- **Every ad-tracking tool is wired in** : the website's cookie and SDK disclosures list AppsFlyer (install attribution), Meta's aggregated event measurement, Google Ads device-side conversions, and AppLovin. There's also Solidgate and PayPal, possibly to take payments on the web and bypass store commissions (not verified whether they're actually used).

- **No organic buzz at all** : searching "novellea" on TikTok returns 0 results, X 0. No press coverage, only APK mirror sites. Reddit turns up a short-fiction platform with the same name from 2022 years ago, unrelated. No content, yet a steady one to two thousand installs a day. That can only be paid.

- **No specific ads found** : Meta's ad library search for "Novellea Stories" and "Novellea Tale Studio" returns short-drama ads, not this app. The TikTok European ad library and Google's Ads Transparency Center don't match either. Overseas web-novel operators often run ads through proxy accounts and renamed pages, so not finding them doesn't mean they aren't running.

- **Localized store listing catches the traffic** : Polish users who tap through see a Polish title, Polish description and Polish text. One review says "the translation is pretty good".

### Where the money comes from

The standard overseas web-novel model: the first few chapters are free, and later chapters are unlocked with coins; coins cost $0.99 to $99.99 individually, or you can subscribe for weekly unlocks; no ads, so no "watch a video for a chapter"; free daily-check-in coins expire after 7 days.

Users' complaints mostly land on this point: "Like most of these apps, you can only read a few chapters for free, the chapters are short, and the rest costs a lot." But some give 5 stars and say "the points system is fair, you can keep reading without a subscription." The bar is high enough to convert and not high enough to drive people off. That's the effect they're after.

### Who it's competing with

This niche is crowded. On Google Play alone, roughly 100 book apps have werewolf / lycan / alpha in the title or description.

| Product | Scale | Versus Novellea |
|---|---|---|
| GoodNovel / Buenovela, Dreame, WebNovel | 12M–41M installs each | Large all-category multilingual platforms, permanent fixtures in the top 10 book bestsellers in Poland, Italy, France and Germany |
| Galatea(Inkitt) | 12.4M installs, French bestsellers #3 | US company, own IP and audiobooks |
| NovelaGo / Readink | 1.9M / 2.07M installs, Italian bestsellers #7 | The European minor-language route, started earlier and bigger |
| LycanFiction, WolfFiction | About 20 million installs each, 2022 and up | Nearly the same positioning (werewolf + Europe). Novellea is growing faster. |
| Amberia, VelloraNovel, RedChapters | Launched in the same batch in September 2026 | New shells using the same playbook. Amberia gained +7k in 39 days, installs running ahead of Novellea. |
| Janitor, OOC | 2.75M / 1.77M installs | AI interactive stories competing for the same romance readers' time |

Novellea has nothing exclusive. The closest rivals, LycanFiction and WolfFiction, also run "werewolf + multilingual Europe". Novellea is just updating more and growing faster (+16k in 7 days, versus +0.9–11k for them). In this row, the contest is over who has translated more books and whose ad spend pays back faster. The products themselves aren't very different.

### If it were you

**One-line verdict** : there's something to learn here, but it's not worth chasing. The playbook really works, but it's an industrialized pipeline (thousands of chapters of licensed content, translation, continuous paid acquisition), and small teams lack both. This app has few people who know it, yet the playbook is well known in overseas-growth circles, and within a month several copies with the same model had appeared.

**Who it suits** : teams that already hold a web-novel license pool (or can get one cheaply), or people with overseas paid-acquisition experience and a budget that can cover a payback period of several months.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie developers with no content source; anyone counting on organic traffic or content marketing to grow; anyone who can't afford ad spend or wait for ROI to turn positive.

**How to do it:**

- Stop crowding into Poland, Italy, France, Germany and Spain. Those five countries already have a dozen-plus advertisers. Look further down for smaller, emptier languages: Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Dutch, Greek, the Nordics. The bestseller bar will be lower, and there are far fewer web-novel apps in the local language.

- Narrow the positioning: one genre (werewolf, gangster, campus bullying revenge) paired with one language. Split the same content library into several shells, test each, and scale whichever pays back.

- LLM translation is now cheap. The real barrier is licensed content, so secure rights first and stay away from pirated fiction.

**How to acquire users** : put "local language + werewolf / Alpha / CEO romance" straight into the store title, and fully localize the description. Run Meta and Google UAC, using the most intense passage from the book as creative (the rejected Luna, the contract marriage). Concentrate a burst of ratings in the first few days after launch, then scale up. You could also try the TikTok accounts that read novel excerpts aloud, which Novellea itself hasn't done.

**When to move** : the sooner the better. In 2026 alone, seven or eight new same-model shells appeared, and the minor-language slots are being filled one by one. Once the big players (GoodNovel, Readink) roll out Czech and Hungarian, the window closes.

**What would mean you read it wrong** :

- Novellea's weekly installs fall below a few thousand by late November and its bestseller rank slips out of the top 30, which would show that paid acquisition isn't paying back and the team is pulling out;

- a month after you start buying ads, your cost per install is above a third of what a user pays in their first month, with no sign of payback;

- in the minor language you picked, GoodNovel or Readink has already launched a local version.

Where users come from

- Inferred **paid acquisition (Meta / Google / AppLovin)** : the website's Cookie & SDK disclosure lists AppsFlyer attribution, Meta aggregated event measurement, Google Ads on-device conversion, and AppLovin. There's no organic buzz, yet it steadily adds 1.5–2k installs a day. Our TikTok / Google / Meta ad libraries haven't matched any specific creatives (per Xinyuanhui, not searched)

- **Confirmed** **localized store ASO** : separate store titles and descriptions for five languages (e.g. "Lupi Mannari e Alfa", "Wilkołaki i romans") in Polish, Italian, Spanish, French and German

- **Confirmed** **small-language content (reading in the local language)** : the site says "Built for Europe" and supports EN / PL / DE / FR / ES / IT; Polish user reviews specifically thank it for having Polish

- Inferred **in-app rating prompts** : from 10-29 to 11-01 ratings +419, ratings/installs about 10%, then another 10k+ installs with only +5 ratings; the review sample is mostly very short 5-star Polish reviews

- Inferred **TikTok / X / Reddit / press** : TikHub returns 0 posts, x-radar 0; Reddit and press searches only turn up the 2022-year-old short-fiction platform of the same name, novellea.com

## Novellea: Werewolf Romance (com.trilobiteecho.novellea): why it charted

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: Xinyuanhui Technology Limited (Kwun Tong, Hong Kong; package prefix / email domain trilobiteecho.com) | Launched: 2026-09-21 | Research date: 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

It's a **newly launched alias** on the mature going-global web-novel pipeline: a Chinese team, a Hong Kong company, takes proven English web novels in the "werewolf / CEO romance / revenge" mold and **fully translates them into Polish, Italian, German, French and Spanish** (store titles, descriptions and body text all localized), then pushes them to non-English European markets with paid acquisition (AppsFlyer, Meta and Google conversion SDKs all wired up). It reached the top 10–20 of book bestseller charts in places like Italy and France mainly because **those countries' book bestseller charts have a low bar** , plus a coin-to-unlock chapter model with high ARPU. The differentiation (European small languages + a werewolf niche) is real, but Readink/NovelaGo, PassionNovel, NovelSpark, Amberia and a dozen others already run the same playbook. It's just one in the batch.

### 1. Data (our googleplay database, 2026-10-29 to 11-06)

- Cumulative global installs: 13,312(10-29) → 29,391(11-06), +16,079 in 7 days, averaging about 1.5–2.3k a day; the Play tier is still "10,000+".

- Rating count: 1,416(10-29) → 1,835(11-01), then nearly flat (11-06 at 1,840). At 10-29 the ratings/installs ratio was about 10.6%, far above the 1–3% typical for apps like this; after 11-01 it added another 10k+ installs but only 5 more ratings. **Ratings cluster in a few days in late October and then suddenly stop** , very much like an in-app rating prompt (or trading coins for ratings) that ran for a while and was then switched off.

- Review sample: 62 reviews captured, all from the Polish-speaking region, concentrated between 10-26 and 10-30, averaging 4.6 stars, mostly short lines like "super", "ok", "polecam" (recommend). Negative reviews complain about "chapters too expensive, need real money", "free coins expire after 7 days", and "can't unlock by watching ads". One reads: "thanks for letting me read in Polish".

- Charts (11-06, Books & Reference, BOOKS_AND_REFERENCE category): Italy Top Grossing #10, France Top Grossing #15, Spain Top Grossing #20, Germany Top Grossing #21, Mexico Top Grossing #33, Brazil Top Grossing #47; Poland Top Free #13 (peak #7 between 10-31 and 11-03), Italy Top Free #21. Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, the UAE, the Netherlands and Nigeria all sit at Top Grossing #67–#80, with nearly identical ranks. That's small countries sharing the same aggregate chart, so it doesn't count as real charting.

- **Not charted in the US or UK** . It deliberately stays out of the English-speaking main battlefield.

- Store titles are written per language: Polish "Wilkołaki i romans", Italian "Lupi Mannari e Alfa", Spanish "Hombres Lobo y Alfas", French "Romance loup-garou", German "Werwolf-Liebesromane" (from the title field in the chart_rank table; Play Polish page actually scraped).

- In-app purchases $0.99–$99.99, `ad_supported = False` (no ads); chapters unlocked with coins plus a weekly subscription (store description: "Odblokowuj rozdziały monetami albo wykup subskrypcję").

#### How low the bestseller bar is (control on the same day, same category)

| App | Installs | 7-day gain | Italy / Germany / France bestseller ranks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Novellea | 29k | 16k | IT #10 / DE #21 / FR #15 |
| PassionNovel (2026-05 top) | 94k | 6.7k | IT #12 / DE #14 / FR #20 |
| NovelSpark (2025-11 top) | 180k | 35k | IT #15 / DE #16 / FR #23 |
| VelloraNovel (2026-09-22 top) | 5.4k | 4.2k | UK Top Grossing #19 |
| NovelaGo(Readink,2024-08) | 1.9M | 24k | IT #7 / DE #12 / FR #10 |
| Galatea(Inkitt,2018) | 12.4M | 36k | IT #5 / DE #5 / FR #3 |

A few thousand to tens of thousands of installs is enough to reach the top 20 of these countries' book bestseller charts, meaning "charting in multiple countries" reflects **high spend per paying user against a low chart bar** , not large revenue. Actual revenue hasn't been disclosed, and we haven't verified it.

### 2. Competitors

This category (Chinese-run paid web-novel apps going global, known in the trade as "going-global web novels") is extremely crowded. Our database alone has about 100 apps in book categories with werewolf / lycan / alpha in the title or description.

- **Top platforms** : GoodNovel (38.9M installs, 2020), Dreame (41.5M, 2018), WebNovel (Yuewen, 32.3M, 2017), JoyRead (13M, 2021), Galatea (Inkitt, 12.4M, 2018), Buenovela (GoodNovel's Spanish edition, 12M), MoboReader (9.63M). All are multilingual and regularly sit in the top 10 of PL / IT / FR / DE book bestseller charts.

- **Mid-tier European multilingual** : NovelaGo / Readink (1.9M / 2.07M, 2024 / 2022, the heaviest on European small languages), My Passion (4.18M), AlphaNovel (2.22M).

- **Werewolf niche** : LycanFiction (Novelpal, 230k, 2022, FR bestseller #14), WolfFiction (Noddd, 210k, 2022), Romanfic-Romance & Werewolf (410k, 2023), MoonLit-Werewolf Novels (480k, 2025), Moonovel, AlphaFiction, plus Moonfang and Eclipsara (Riseforward), new in 2026.

- **Same-batch new aliases (launched in the second half of 2026)** : Amberia (2026-09-1.74M, 7 days +39k, top 5 in five European free charts 15), VelloraNovel (09-22), RedChapters (09-22.2M), Mistbook (08-25, Spanish), KissNovel (07-24), PassionNovel (05-20), NovelBite (05-8.49M).

- **The AI interactive-story route** : Janitor: Interactive Stories and OOC: The Playable Anime also sit in the top 20 of the same charts, competing for the same users' time.

Bottom line: Novellea has no exclusive feature. Its playbook is nearly identical to LycanFiction / WolfFiction (werewolf niche + European multilingual). It's newer and smaller, but growing fast (+16k in 7 days, versus +0.9–11k for the others).

Also note the **name clash** : novellea.com / Short Content Ltd is a same-named short-fiction platform 2022 years old (iOS id 1554760599); Meta ad library pages named "Novellea Stories" and "Novellea Tale Studio" promote DramaWave / FreeReels short dramas; novellea.shop is a jewelry store. None of these are related to this app.

### 3. Growth tactics

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Paid acquisition (Meta / Google / AppLovin) | The website's Cookie & SDK disclosure lists AppsFlyer (install attribution), Meta SDK aggregated event measurement, Google Ads on-device conversion measurement, and AppLovin MAX / AppDiscovery. No organic content buzz, yet it steadily adds 1.5–2k installs a day | Ad infrastructure confirmed; specific creatives not found |
| Localized store ASO | Store titles and descriptions written separately for five languages, keywords stacked with "werewolf / alpha / CEO romance" | Confirmed |
| Small-language content itself | The site leads with "Built for Europe" and "read in the language you dream in"; Polish user reviews specifically thank it for having Polish | Confirmed |
| In-app rating prompts | Rating count rose by 420 over 4 days in late October, then stalled; reviews are mostly very short 5-star | Inferred, unverified |
| Web payments (bypassing store commission) | Solidgate / PayPal listed in the SDK disclosures | Confirmed in the SDK; whether it's actually in use is unverified |
| TikTok / X / Reddit content and creators | TikHub search for "novellea" returns 0 posts; x-radar 60 in 0 days; Reddit only turns up the same-named short-fiction platform | Confirmed none |
| Press / reviews | Only mirror pages like AppBrain and APKPure | Confirmed none |

Our ad libraries can't find it: the TikTok European ad library shows "unconfirmed" (same-named candidates don't match); the Google transparency center only returns an unrelated "Novellea LLC"; Meta ad library name searches only return same-named short-drama / e-commerce pages. Note that the ad libraries were queried by the legal entity name trilobiteecho, **not Xinyuanhui** . Going-global web novels usually buy ads through proxy accounts or rotating pages, so failing to find them doesn't mean they aren't advertising.

### 4. Why it took off

1. **The category itself is proven** : werewolf / CEO romance / revenge web novels with per-chapter coin payments is the model GoodNovel and Dreame have run for five or six years, and the content and monetization can be copied directly.

2. **Picked less competitive markets** : skips the US and UK, focusing on Poland, Italy, Germany, France and Spanish-speaking regions. These countries' book bestseller charts have low bars (tens of thousands of installs can reach the top 20), and there are few native-language web-novel apps, especially in Poland.

3. **Fully localized from store page to body text** : separate titles and descriptions for each language, with the body text translated too (reviews say "translation is pretty good"), making it easier to click through local-language search and recommendations.

4. **Paid acquisition + high ticket** : no organic buzz, so installs come from AppsFlyer + Meta / Google spend; in-app purchases go up to $99.99, there are no ads, and free coins expire after 7 days, pushing readers mid-story to pay. That's why a few tens of thousands of installs can carry top multi-country bestseller ranks.

5. **Ratings seeded at launch** : late October brought in over a thousand positive ratings, holding the rating at 4.1–4.5 to help bought traffic convert.

### 5. Differentiation

**Real but not exclusive** : "werewolf web novels for non-English European markets", with store and content fully localized, avoiding the English red ocean. This is indeed why it can break into IT / FR / PL: put the same content in the US and 29k installs wouldn't reach any bestseller chart. But Readink / NovelaGo, LycanFiction, PassionNovel, NovelSpark and Amberia were already on this path. It has no technical or content moat; it competes on translation volume, ad payback and acquisition efficiency. In the end, **the win is in distribution tactics and market selection, not anything new in the product** .

### 6. How many people have seen it

**Nobody knows it yet** : no disclosed revenue, no press or X discussion, zero content on TikTok. But the category it sits in (going-global web novels for European small languages) is openly known in China's going-global circles as a crowded, established playbook. Nobody knows this particular app, but everyone knows the playbook.

### 7. Takeaways

- Markets with low chart barriers and little local-language supply (Poland, Italy) break into Top Grossing faster than fighting head-on in the US.

- Write titles and descriptions separately for each language, and put genre keywords (werewolf / alpha / CEO romance) straight into the title.

- Narrow the positioning (one genre + one region), and the same content library can be split into several personas for different ad campaigns.

- Concentrate on collecting ratings during launch, then scale up paid acquisition.

### 8. Uncertain

- Actual revenue and ROI (Top Grossing placement + low barrier, estimated at tens of thousands of dollars a month, completely unverified).

- Who runs the ads, the creatives, and the channel mix (Meta or Google UAC, whether they use agency accounts).

- Which company is behind it: Xinyuanhui / trilobiteecho has only this one app in our database, possibly a new persona of a larger company. We could not find any link.

- Why ratings stopped right after 11-01 (the prompt was turned off, or Google filtered them?).

- iOS version: the website says it's also coming to iOS, but we did not find it in our appstore database.
