"Safe for everyone" AI porn video apps: 26K installs and charting #13 in China's top grossing. Sister apps are already being taken down.

What it is An AI image-to-video and text-to-video app on Android. The store listing calls it a creative tool, but it actually sells adult content with relaxed restrictions. No free trial; in-app purchases start at $14.99.

Why it blew up Bought ads drove users in, loose content limits plus a high paywall with no trial took payment on the spot, and it chart-hopped the Tools Top Grossing list, where AI video apps are thin, so a few tens of thousands of installs were enough to chart.

DWhat you can take from it Don't copy it. Only two moves are worth porting to a legit paid app: a high entry price with no trial, subscriptions that grant credits plus credits sold on their own, and listing in a thin category while leaning on paid acquisition to filter for payers.

Grade D: its growth came from rating fraud, adult content and a rotating-account matrix, exactly what Google named and started clearing after the Guardian story. Sister apps lasted under four weeks. Functionally it's no different from 74 similar apps; the only parts a compliant follower could copy are the pricing and the category choice. Few people know about it yet

On Nov 2, a US user gave Vireluma AI one star on Google Play with two lines: "This is full of AI-generated adult content. How is this allowed?" The store page calls it a "creative tool that turns photos and text into video", filed under Tools, rated Everyone. It's been up for just over three weeks, has 26k installs, and yet it's charted on the Tools Top Grossing lists in 13 countries including Italy, Spain, France and the UK. It got there not on the product but on three gaps in the rules. Those gaps are closing, and sister apps built on the same template have already vanished from Play.

What the store page says vs. what users get

The store description is tidy: animate photos, generate scenes from text, make videos from templates, tune prompts. Half of it is disclaimers, such as "confirm you have rights before uploading material with faces." The rating is Everyone, with no ads.

The reviews tell a different story. Oct 28: "This app is not for kids, it's straight-up porn." Oct 29: "PEGI 3 (Europe's 3+ rating), and the result is smut." The only five-star review with any substance, from Oct 24, reads: "Careful, this app is addictive and will make you spend money! So realistic."

As of Nov 6, the store page had 23 ratings in total: 14 one-star, 3 two-star, 4 five-star, none at three or four stars, averaging 2.08. The version number has stayed at 1.0.0 since launch on Oct 13 with no updates.

How 26k installs got it onto the Top Grossing charts

Google Play installs (third-party scrape, refreshed every two to three days):

11-0322,35317

For the first 16 days it averaged about 400 installs a day. From Oct 29 it climbed to about 2,400 a day and is still accelerating. Tools Top Grossing ranks as of Nov 6: Italy #17, Spain #22, France #23, UK #24, Germany #35, US #42. It has barely touched the free charts, appearing only between #109 and #188 on the UK Tools Top Free list.

Few installs but high paid ranks come from three things stacking:

  • Expensive, with no trial. In-app purchases run $14.99 to $204.99 each. The terms state "No Free Trial": the weekly subscription grants 120 "diamonds", the monthly 540, and the yearly 330 a month, and diamonds can also be bought on their own. The lowest tier for comparable AI video apps is usually $1.99, so this is among the highest entry prices. One reviewer complained: "I bought diamonds and it still makes me subscribe to download my own videos." Another wrote: "I installed it because it said free, and it isn't."
  • The users are bought. A two-star review says: "Doesn't work without a subscription. It doesn't do what the ad promises." The app leaves no trace on TikTok, X or the media, and it never reached the free charts, yet its installs are spread across 13 countries at once. The people came from ads; which platform they were bought on can't be determined from the outside.
  • An unusually quiet category. Tools Top Grossing is mostly VPNs and cleaners, with few AI video apps, so it's easier to chart here than in Photography or Art (inferred).

Add what it actually sells: generated content with the limits off. People who will pay past a $14.99 paywall are mostly there for that. So paying users stick around, and good reviews don't.

It's not one app, it's an account

There is another app on the same template: Tavreno Lens: AI. The two privacy policies are word-for-word identical, with only the name and email swapped. Both terms mention diamonds, guest mode and material retained for 7 days, and both price from $14.99 to $204.99. Tavreno launched on Oct 8 and followed the same path: Tools Top Grossing in Germany, France and the UK, climbing to Germany #2 and France #25 in Nov 23, with installs going from 2,672 to 18,602. It disappeared after Nov 3; by Nov 6 its store page showed "404" in the US, UK and Germany. Whether Google removed it or it was withdrawn voluntarily hasn't been verified.

Both developer accounts are repurposed old ones. Vireluma's account is HandyHyena, which also publishes "Oort Cloud", unrelated to AI. Tavreno's account is left with one app, "Number Blocks". Both contact emails are gibberish Gmail addresses. The site virelumaai.com shows only one line, "Nginx is ready.", plus a few pages of legal text. The package name virelumjtajai is also a random string. This playbook is common: buy or rent developer accounts with some history, ship the same shell, and move to the next one when one gets banned. A review on another app in the same cluster shows users follow the move too: "I used XPhoto and suddenly it stopped working, so I was forced to install this... no censorship."

Why now, and how long the window lasts

On Oct 19, the Guardian reported on a Tech Transparency Project investigation: researchers used 13-year-old test accounts, searched "AI video generator" in the Apple and Google stores, and downloaded 135 apps that could undress people or swap faces into pornography, many marked as suitable for minors. During the investigation Google removed only 6 of them, saying it would "remove violating apps and restrict related searches."

Google is tightening up, but after the fact: ratings are self-declared by developers and removals depend on reports. Until someone notices, an account can earn for three or four weeks. Tavreno launched in Oct 8 and was gone by Nov 3. Vireluma launched in Oct 13 and was still live as of Nov 6.

Who's fighting over the same users

  • Similar shells: On Google Play, 2026 AI video apps launched after May 74, charted in a category, and reached three or more countries (11-06). At least four or five template matrices are running at once: Orvani also sells "no censorship" from $3.99 and reached #13 on the Japan Tools Top Grossing list; Veluna and Nimvra each have 40–50k installs and draw the same complaints about porn; Movify and Storyla families start at $1.99.
  • Legit products: ByteDance's Dreamina (6.02M installs on Play) and PixVerse, strict on review and with free credits.
  • The "legit" place for adult demand: xAI's Grok Imagine is currently the only major mainstream product that openly permits NSFW video (per PCMag), along with a range of web-based "uncensored" generators that skip app store review. Vireluma's only edge over them is that it can be found, installed and paid for right inside the phone's app store, through Google Play billing.

If it were you

One-line verdict: Don't copy it. It got where it is through rating fraud, adult content and a rotating-account matrix, which are exactly what Google has now named it is investigating. Sister accounts last under four weeks.

Who it suits: Nobody should copy it wholesale. The only two moves worth taking suit a small team that already has a real paid app and runs ads.

Who it doesn't suit: Indie devs looking to build AI video generation. Functionally it's no different from 74 similar apps, so the only thing left to compete on is how far the limits are pushed, and that road gets accounts banned and can bring minors-protection lawsuits.

How to do it: Port the two moves onto a product you can actually deliver. First, pricing structure: set a high entry price, no trial, subscriptions that grant credits, and credits sold separately, so you collect from both legs and monetize each install harder. Second, category choice: list in a category with few competitors on the top grossing chart. From 2 to 30k installs you have a shot at the top 25 in mid-sized European markets.

How to acquire users: Its lesson is a single one: don't count on free charts or organic traffic, lean entirely on paid acquisition and filter for people who will pay from the first touch. To copy it, first test in a small budget how much revenue one install returns, then scale up.

When is the window closing: For shells like this, the window runs in weeks. Since the Guardian story Google has been restricting related searches, so the time this playbook survives will only get shorter.

What would prove this read wrong: If Vireluma is still live in December, still shipping versions, has been re-rated as adult, or Google never clears this batch, the platforms are more permissive than expected. Then it's not a one-run account but a long-lived gray business. Even then, it's not a direction a small team should bet on.

  • Confirmed Account-rotation matrix (old developer account + same template): Tavreno Lens: AI (Alishadevolper) has the identical privacy policy and terms, prices $14.99–$204.99 matching Vireluma exactly, and charted on the de / fr / gb TOOLS Top Grossing lists; its Play page showed "11-03" after 404; both developer accounts still list an unrelated old app (Oort Cloud, Number Blocks)

Why Vireluma AI (com.virelumjtajai.video) managed to chart

Channel: Google Play | Developer account: HandyHyena | Launched: 2026-10-13 | Research date: 2026-11-06

Bottom line

Vireluma AI is an AI video generation shell that sits under Tools and is rated Everyone, while its real selling point is loosened limits (several reviews say outright "full of AI porn"). Users came in from ads (the review says "not what the ad says"), and on landing hit no trial and a hard paywall, with the lowest tier at $14.99. That's how it squeezed into the tools charts in 13 Western countries on only 26k installs. It isn't a standalone product but one account in a template matrix: its sister app Tavreno Lens: AI, same template and same prices, has already left Play since 11-03. It ran on paid acquisition + content-limit arbitrage + an account-rotation matrix, not product strength, and could be pulled at any time.

  • About 16k installs in the 6.6 days before launch (roughly 400 a day). 10-29 and the 8 days after it added 19.6k more (roughly 2.4k a day), so it's accelerating. Play's maxInstalls isn't refreshed daily, so the two jumps on 10-31 and 11-03 are cumulative counts that showed up that day, not single-day spikes.
  • Rating distribution (live as of 11-06): 1-star 14, 2-star 3, 3/4-star 0, 5-star 4. Reputation is poor, with no sign of prompted good reviews.
  • Version has stayed at 1.0.0 (last updated 2026-10-13); no new release since launch.
  • Category Tools, content rating Everyone, no ads, in-app purchases $14.99 – $204.99 each.
  • Top Grossing (TOOLS category): it 17–23, es 17–22, fr 16–23, gb 23–26, de 27–35, us 42–52; hk / nl / pl / sg / vn / ae move daily within 49–58, likely one shared small-country aggregate chart, so the bar is low.
  • Top Free: only appeared on the gb TOOLS Top Free chart, at 109–188; it never charted in Top Free in other stores. Installs didn't come from free charts or organic recommendations.
  • Apple: the appstore library has no app with the same name or developer; it's Android only.

2. Business model

Sources: terms-service.html and auto-renewal-agreement.html on virelumaai.com, plus the Play listing.

  • Pricing structure: weekly / monthly / yearly subscriptions include Diamonds, and Diamonds can also be bought on their own. The weekly plan grants 120 Diamonds, the monthly plan 540, and the yearly plan 330 up front plus 330 more each month (12 times a year, 3,960 Diamonds in total).
  • The terms explicitly state "No Free Trial." Reviews say: "I bought diamonds and it still makes me subscribe to download the videos I made," "everything requires paying first," "claims a free tier, but there isn't one."
  • The lowest in-app purchase tier is $14.99. Comparable apps (the Movify and Storyla group) typically start at $1.99, so it's among the most expensive entry points in its class. Charging more and offering no trial means more revenue per install, which is how a 26k-install app can reach the grossing chart.

3. What it actually sells: content boundaries

Recent Play reviews (same batch for us / gb, pulled with google-play-scraper, 11-06):

  • "It's literally full of AI generated adult material. How is this allowed?" (11-03,1 star)
  • "PEGI 3 and it's literally just porn" (10-29,1 star)
  • "This app is not for children, it contains straight porn." (10-29,1 star)
  • "Be cautious about this app it is very addictive and will have you spend money! way too realistic …" (10-24, the only 5-star review with substance)
  • "Can't save unless you subscribe. It doesn't do what the ad says it does." (11-01,2 star)
  • Several reviews say the consent checkbox / button for the privacy policy on the first screen is missing, so users can't get in (10-23, 10-28, 10-31, 11-05).

Takeaway: the store page sells a "creative tool that turns photos into videos" with an Everyone rating, but users actually get adult-leaning generated content and templates. That also explains why it holds onto paying users while failing to earn good reviews.

Reviews of similar apps corroborate this:

  • Orvani: AI Video Generator (InkVibe Labs, TOOLS Top Grossing jp 13): "Had XPhoto, then suddenly I couldn't use it. I was forced to install Orvani … Doesn't censor" and "Does what other apps refuse to do." This suggests that when apps like this get pulled, the operator relaunches under a new shell and users follow.
  • Veluna: AI Image & Video (Peaceful life App): "Vile pornography on the home page on an app rated for children!" and "Says E for everyone … Nothing but filth porn."

4. The matrix: same template, different developer accounts

Sibling app: Tavreno Lens: AI (com.vovi.len.maker, developer Alishadevolper)

  • lenmaker.com/privacy.html and virelumaai.com/privacy.html are the same template with only the app name and email swapped. The terms match (Diamonds, guest mode, 7-day retention), and pricing is the same $14.99 – $204.99. Tavreno's privacy policy is effective 2026-09-03; Vireluma's is 09-18.
  • Tavreno launched on 10-08 and followed the same path as Vireluma: the de / fr / gb TOOLS Top Grossing charts, reaching de 25 and fr 23 on 11-02, with installs going from 2,672 (10-29) to 18,602 (11-03).
  • After 11-03, the library has no further observations of it. 11-06 shows as 404 when the Play listing is opened in us / gb / de. The reason for removal is unverified, but given the platform context in section 6 below, it was most likely pulled for policy violations.
  • Third-party mirror pages (AppBrain, Similarweb, CNET Download) still list it.

Both are old developer accounts repurposed

  • HandyHyena has another app besides Vireluma, "Oort Cloud" (org.sigma.tau.oortcloud), which has nothing to do with AI. Alishadevolper has one remaining app, "Number Blocks" (com.zephyr.number_blocks).
  • Both accounts use garbled Gmail contact addresses (rawtryfmyjk@, alishabibi7376@). The virelumaai.com homepage just shows "Nginx is ready." and hosts only the legal pages.
  • Typical playbook: buy or rent old developer accounts with existing history, publish the same AI video shell under random package names (virelumjtajai), and give each account a different name. If one gets banned, there's another ready.

5. Where users come from

ChannelEvidenceConfirmed?
Paid adsReviews say "it doesn't do what the ad says it does". Only charted on the UK Top Free chart (ranks 109–188), yet installs are monetizing in 13 countries at once. No organic content at all. The googleads library has it on the watch list, but the 11-02 check came back no_ads. metaads and tiktokads (Europe only) show no creatives for it either. The developer account is a jumble of a name, and we can't match it by name, package, or domain. Not finding it doesn't mean they aren't buying ads.Partially confirmed (ads exist, but the platform they ran on isn't identified)
Adult / "uncensored" demandMultiple reviews describe pornographic content; the similar app Orvani's reviews say users follow the operator to a new shell after a takedown; the web has plenty of "uncensored AI video generator" roundup posts (zencreator, dreamfort, jsmanifest, etc.)Demand is confirmed; whether it buys traffic aimed at this audience is unverified
Store searchThe name "Vireluma AI" includes "luma ai," possibly riding Luma AI / Dream Machine search terms (the library already has two knockoff "Luma Dream Machine" apps). No ranking data proves this. Not verified
TikTok / X / Reddit / pressA TikHub search for "Vireluma" only returns unrelated content like Viture Luma glasses; x-radar has 60 posts in the last 0 days; a Jina search only turns up store mirrors like AppBrain, Similarweb, and CNET.Confirmed none

6. Timing and platform context

  • On 2026-10-19, the Guardian published an exclusive on a Tech Transparency Project investigation: using 13-year-old test accounts to search "AI video generator" and "adult AI," researchers downloaded 135 apps on Apple and Google that can make nude or face-swap porn. Many apps were rated suitable for minors (for example, "Image to Video Maker-Vidou AI" was rated 9+). During the investigation Google removed only 6 apps; Google's response was that it is "suspending violating apps and restricting related search terms."
  • In other words, Vireluma is riding a gray-area demand that is being targeted. Google is tightening up (takedowns, restricted search terms), but it mostly relies on developer self-declared ratings and after-the-fact reports, so relaunching under a new account buys a window of time. Tavreno disappearing around 11-03 fits this tightening.

Since 2026-05, AI video Apps in the library that have charted in a category top-grossing chart and across more than 3 countries: 74 (googleplay library 11-06). The lane is already crowded; Vireluma is just one of them.

8. How many people have seen it

  • No disclosed revenue, no founder, no press coverage, no X discussion, no TikTok content. You can only find it on auto-generated mirror pages at AppBrain, Similarweb, and CNET.
  • The playbook of "AI video shell + adult-leaning content + rotating account matrix" is common knowledge. At least 4–5 template matrices are running at the same time, and media (Guardian / TTP) are chasing them.

9. What's the differentiation, and is it why it broke out?

  • No functional differentiation: image-to-video, text-to-video, and templates, same as the 74 peers. The backend is probably calling the same few third-party models (the privacy policy only says "AI technology providers").
  • Three things do differ: (1) content is loosened but filed under Tools / Everyone, not the adult category; (2) pricing is aggressive, no free trial, minimum $14.99, while peers mostly start at $1.99; (3) it sits in the TOOLS category, whose top-grossing chart is mostly VPNs and cleaners with few AI video apps, so it's easier to chart there than in Photography or Art & Design (speculation).
  • These "differences" are why it can run, but they're regulatory arbitrage, not a product moat. Its sibling accounts have already been taken down, and it itself hasn't been updated in 1.0.0. It looks like an account built to cash out and leave.

10. What others can borrow

  • What's worth borrowing (the compliant part): a high sticker price + subscription that includes gems + gems sold separately dual model, paired with paid acquisition. 2–30k installs was enough to reach the top 25 of the TOOLS top-grossing chart in mid-sized European countries. Another point: listing in a less competitive category lowers the bar for charting a lot.
  • What not to borrow: faked content ratings, adult content under Everyone, and matrices built on random old accounts. Since 2026-10, both Google and Apple have been tightening up, and Tavreno's fate is an example. Under Google Play's generative AI content policy, this is the kind of thing that gets accounts banned.

11. Still unclear

  • Where the ads actually run (Meta, Google UAC, adult-traffic ad networks, Reddit?) and what the creatives look like: none of our three ad libraries matched.
  • Actual revenue: chart positions only show it is being paid for in the TOOLS category; they can't be converted into a dollar figure.
  • Who operates it: two developer accounts, two domains, and gibberish Gmail addresses; no company entity found. The Auvrix family has Hong Kong / China ties (yuanhanhk.com), but there's no evidence it's the same operator as Vireluma.
  • Whether Tavreno was pulled by Google or taken down by its operator has not been verified.
  • Whether the "luma" in "Vireluma" is a deliberate play on Luma AI search traffic has not been verified.
