The 7th "*Live" from a Hong Kong company: XaveLive is not a product, it's a shell
What it is A paid video chat app on Android, 1v1: men buy coins and video-chat or message with female hosts (or auto-greeting bots). Coins are deducted per message or per minute, with 18+ ratings.
Why it took off The parent company relaunched a proven companion-monetization system under a new name, using localized Facebook ads that lean on "adult" as a hook, steadily pulling in five to six thousand installs a day in Nigeria and Brazil.
DHow you could follow Indie developers shouldn't. Overseas companies that already have host supply and an ad team could borrow its playbook: one system, N shells, split packages by country, and swap shells every few months to reset ratings. Pick countries the matrix hasn't covered yet.

XaveLive is a paid video chat app on Android, 1v1. It launched in Jul 9, got 595k installs in four months, and sits on the social charts in Nigeria and Brazil. Scroll down the developer page and the same developer account has 8 more nearly identical "*Live" apps, adding up to 47.5M installs. XaveLive took off because of this company's ready-made system and ad budget, not because of the app itself. Below is how the system makes money and why indie developers shouldn't copy it.
"You need coins to take a call, coins to send a message, even coins just to breathe"
In Oct 8, a Brazilian user left a long review on XaveLive's store page: "Don't trust the good reviews. This app is garbage, all it wants is money, worse than a slot machine. At least a slot machine gives you a chance to win. The messages are obviously sent by bots, and there are way too many video calls. You need coins to answer a call, coins to send a message, coins to breathe... When a woman calls you, the video freezes so you think it's your connection, while the time and your coins keep running." 17 people marked it helpful.
Earlier, in Aug 26, another Brazilian user, Rafael, wrote: "The app uses bots pretending to be women to message and call users. A girl I chatted with said that message wasn't from her, and that this is common in this app." 26 people marked it helpful. In Nigeria, the top review as of Sep 11 was a single line: "you have to paid in every massage you send".
On the same store page, a Brazilian five-star review from Jul 30 reads: "Super satisfied, it serves me very well, I can interact perfectly with users." Someone who says they "interact with users" is clearly a host, not the paying side.
These few reviews more or less explain the whole business.
What it is
The store description reads "Live Video Chat & Meet Friends Worldwide": 1v1 video chat, voice rooms, real-time translation, beauty filters. In practice: men buy coins and video-chat or message with female hosts (or auto-greeting programs), with coins deducted per message or per minute. Coins cost $0.20 to $99.99 per unit. The Google Play rating in Brazil is 18, labeled "sexual content, inappropriate language, user interaction, in-app purchases."
The developer is Insight-Innov, and the website credits Insightful Innovations HK Limited, a Hong Kong company. Its 9 packages on Google Play share one contact email, one website, and one privacy policy template, with identical description wording:
| Package | Launched | Global installs (Google Play, 11-06) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| FogoLive | 2022-07 | 15M | Older shell, Brazil social Top Grossing #21 |
| ComLive | 2023-10 | 13.2M | The biggest earner, third-party estimate of $42k–200k per month |
| LiveUp | 2024-09 | 6.41M | Listed under the Lifestyle category |
| Amigo | 2024-07 | 5.55M | Nigeria social Top Grossing #27 |
| MissLive | 2025-03 | 4.95M | Charted in 17 countries |
| VivoLive | 2026-03 | 1.61M | Newer shell, 7 days +70k |
| XaveLive | 2026-07-09 | 595k | 7 days +36k |
| FicaLive | 2026-07-21 | 208k | Same batch, 12 days later, targeting Brazil |
| Boralive | 2026-10-20 | 2,869 | Newest one, just started spending |
A new shell roughly every four months. "Fica" and "Bora" are colloquial Brazilian Portuguese, and the names themselves are aimed at Brazilians.
Where users come from: bought, with ads using "adult" as the hook
XaveLive has a Portuguese Facebook page, "XaveLive-PT", with 10 followers and no everyday content. It posted one video titled "Você precisa conhecer esse app" (You need to know this app). The caption opens: "Why shouldn't people under 18 download this app? First, because the chats here lean adult..." The video has since been taken down (caption from a search snippet), which fits the pattern of ad creatives being deleted once used up. A page with 10 followers can only exist to run ads.
The install curve is also a spend curve. Third-party estimates put July (three weeks after launch) at about 58k installs, August 159k, September 162k, October 186k, steady at 5–6k a day (AppstoreSpy estimate). No spike, no viral acceleration, just a flat budget line. The store's daily numbers also jump in batches: 11-01 +14k, 11-03 +15k, with several days in between that don't move.
Beyond that there's almost no other source: searching xavelive, vivolive and comlive on TikTok returns 0 videos each, X has 90 posts in the last 0 days, and no media outlet has covered it. APK sites like Softonic, APKPure and Aptoide have pages (Softonic's description literally says "connects adults"), most likely auto-indexed and not driving much volume.
Nigeria and Brazil are the two markets people have been testing. Nigeria is cheap to install and has a low bar for charting in the social category: a few thousand installs a day can get you into the top 30, and charting also picks up some organic store traffic. Brazilian users can afford to pay, so that's where the in-app purchase revenue comes from. In Nov 6, XaveLive ranked #27 in Nigeria's Social Top Free, #64 in Brazil's Social Top Free, and #131 in Brazil's Social Top Grossing (Google Play charts).
Where the money comes from: make sure someone is waiting for each user the moment they arrive
What this kind of app actually sells isn't video chat, it's "someone to talk to." The moment a new user signs up, a "girl" messages them first and starts a video call. Reviews keep saying these messages are automated. The first payment is triggered by this: to reply to messages or take calls, buy coins. After that, every message and every minute of video costs coins. A sibling app's Nigerian review says: "I paid 2500 and the video connected for a few seconds."
On the host side, the industry norm is recruiting hosts through Facebook groups, with agencies taking a cut. XaveLive's five-star review comes from the host's perspective. How this part actually works is only visible through what reviewers say. Unverified.
XaveLive itself doesn't earn much. AppGazers estimates October revenue at under $5,000K, while AppGoblin estimates just over $10K a month. The two differ by more than double, and neither is verified. The real earners are the older shells in the matrix: AppGazers estimates the company's entire portfolio at $88K–440K a month, with ComLive alone accounting for half.
Why they keep rotating shells
Shells age. Companion apps collect bad reviews fast: bot messages, coins charged per message, frozen video that still runs the timer. Once the rating drops, ad conversion gets worse and acquisition costs rise. Changing the name, icon and domain resets the rating to zero and gives the ad audience a fresh start. If one app gets hit by bad reviews or a policy action, the others are unaffected.
XaveLive is already aging: AppGoblin showed it with 628 ratings and 4.55 stars earlier, and by Nov 6 it had 699 ratings at 3.6 stars, with the distribution at 1 stars 209 and 5 stars 349, almost nothing in between. From 10-29 to 11-06, over those 9 days, it fell from 17 to 27 on the Nigeria Social Top Free chart and from 88 to 131 on the Brazil Social Top Grossing chart. The next clone, Boralive, is already charting.
Who it's competing with
This is one of the categories Chinese companies going global know best. Dozens of clones target the Middle East, Latin America, South Asia and Africa:
| Competitors | Scale (Google Play) | Compared with alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Chamet | 78.4M installs | Category leader, #10 in Social Top Grossing in both Nigeria and Brazil |
| Poppo Live / SuperLive / BuzzCast | 37M–48M | More live-streaming tipping, roughly an order of magnitude bigger |
| Chatta / MeetJoy (Singapore's METAZ) | 13.8M / 660k | Same matrix playbook. MeetJoy launched in August, +7k over 157 days, and already reached #33 in Nigeria's Top Grossing |
| Minemo | 590k | Launched in September, same market and similar size, no clear product difference |
| Bigo Live / Tango | 850M / 390M | Large live-streaming platforms |
| OmeTV | 250M | Random stranger video, no hosts to monetize |
Over the same period, MeetJoy grew four times faster than XaveLive in the same market. Inside its own matrix, the previous shell VivoLive also grew twice as fast. XaveLive isn't the best performer either inside or outside the group.
If it were you
Worth knowing, not recommended to copy. The business makes money, but the money-making parts (host agencies, payment channels, ad accounts, four years of creative testing, developer accounts that can launch ten apps at once) sit with the parent company, not the app. An indie developer can build the same app in a few weeks. What they can't get is the group of people who are always waiting when a new user arrives.
Who it fits: companies already running global social apps that have host supply and a paid-acquisition team. For them, the Insight-Innov playbook is worth copying: one system, N shells, packages split by country. Cheap countries push the free charts, high-paying countries recoup in-app purchases, and a new shell launches every few months to reset the ratings.
Not for: indie devs and small teams with no access to creators; people building a long-term product that relies on word of mouth (this model has no organic reach at all); anyone unwilling to touch suggestive ad creative, bot messages, and Google 18+ policy risk.
How to approach it: if you already have supply, stop building another "global video chat." Pick a country and language these matrices haven't covered yet. First, check the Google Play social free and top-grossing charts for that country and count how many similar apps are in the top 100. Then pick a more specific audience and use case than "strangers" and fix the complaints about per-message coin charges, frozen video and running timers. A rating that holds up longer means a longer shell lifespan.
How to acquire users: Facebook / Instagram install ads in the local language, with a page and package name per country. Test creative on a small budget and check whether first-week payments cover paid acquisition. Nobody in this category uses TikTok or X, so don't bother.
Is there still a window? No window here. The category has run for seven or eight years, and Insight-Innov and METAZ launch a new shell every few months.
Signs you've got it wrong: (1) If a clone appears with no agency, no bot messages, matching real users with each other, and hits tens of thousands of installs a day in Nigeria or Brazil while holding a rating above 4 stars, then there's a way to do this without supply-side resources, and it's worth looking at again. (2) Conversely, if Google Play starts mass-removing paid companion apps in the 18+ category, this whole matrix gets hit, and you should stay far away.

Why XaveLive - Live Video Chat (com.xavelive) got traction
Channel: Google Play · Developer Insight-Innov (email [email protected], website insight-innov.com credited to "Insightful Innovations HK Limited") · First store launch 2026-07-09 · Research date 2026-11-06
Bottom line
XaveLive itself isn't special. It's the #7 app in a skin-swapping matrix run by a Hong Kong shell company: the same 1v1 video companion and voice room system, with a new name, domain and icon, running "adult-leaning" localized video ads on Facebook and funneling traffic to Nigeria and Brazil. Men spend coins chatting with hosts (mostly agency-signed) or bot accounts, and the company earns from that. It "gets traction" because the parent company has already proven the playbook and keeps buying ads. The product has no differentiation. Third-party estimates put revenue very low (<$5K/month). It looks more like the matrix testing a new shell and splitting traffic away from older apps than a standalone product that broke out on its own.
1. Data: how big it is and how it grew
- Cumulative global installs: 2026-10-29 is 559,039,11-06 is 595,343; 7 days +36,304 (googleplay library app_day).
- Curve since launch (AppstoreSpy estimate, googleplay library app_day_ext): July (about 3 weeks after launch) +58k, August +159k, September +162k, October +186k, steady at roughly 5,000–6,000 a day. No spike and no exponential curve like organic virality, just a flat "budget line."
- Charts (googleplay library chart_rank, 10-29 → 11-06): Nigeria Social Top Free #17 → #27, Brazil Social Top Free #60 → #64 (dipping to #81 in between), Brazil Social Top Grossing #88 → #131. Rankings have been sliding over these 9 days, not climbing.
- Ratings: 699 reviews, 3.6 stars. Histogram [1★ 209, 2★ 0, 3★ 0, 4★ 139, 5★ 349], polarized. AppGoblin showed 628 reviews at 4.55 stars earlier, which means a wave of one-star reviews came in between 9 and October. Reviews are only about 0.12% of installs. In these 7 days, 54 new reviews against 36k new installs, about 0.15%, so no sign of large-scale fake five-star reviews.
- Monetization: in-app purchases $0.20 – $99.99 per item (coins). Google Play's Brazil listing is rated "18+, sexual content, crude language, user interaction, in-app purchases."
- Third-party revenue estimates: AppGazers estimates XaveLive's October revenue at under $5K with 62k–292k downloads. AppGoblin estimates monthly revenue at over $10K and about 108k MAU.
2. Competitors: who else is doing the same thing
This category (1v1 paid video companion chat plus voice rooms, targeting the Middle East, Latin America, South Asia and Africa) is full of identical products, and Chinese outbound teams have built the most of them. XaveLive shows up on the Nigeria and Brazil social charts. Its peers in the same charts (googleplay library, 2026-11-06):

| Boralive | Insight-Innov | 2026-10-20 | 2,869 | The newest one, just starting paid acquisition |
| Chamet | Chamet Team | 2019-11 | 78.4M | One of the category leaders. Nigeria Top Grossing 10, Brazil Top Grossing 10 |
| Poppo Live / SuperLive / BuzzCast | Various | 2018–2022 | 37M–48M | An order of magnitude bigger, leaning live streaming |
| Bigo Live / Tango | Bigo / Tango | 2016 / 2010 | 850M / 390M | Large live-streaming platforms |
| Chatta / MeetJoy | METAZ (Singapore) | 2024-05 / 2026-08 | 13.8M / 660k (+157k over 7 days) | The exact same portfolio playbook. MeetJoy launched in the same period, grew 4x faster, and has already reached Nigeria Top Grossing 33 |
| Minemo | Grizzly Machinery | 2026-09 | 590k | A similar-sized new package in the same market |
| Whee | TikTok | 2026-04 | 8.25M | A big company's familiar social app, free to use |
| OmeTV | — | 2015 | 250M | Random video chat, not driven by hosts |
Takeaway: the competition is crowded, and most of it is the same thing as XaveLive. Even the most direct rival is its own sibling app.
3. Growth tactics: where users come from
- Facebook / Instagram localized install ads (confirmed). (Why shouldn't people under 18 download this app? First, because the chats here are more for adults…). It uses "adults only" as the hook (source: Jina search result snippet; the video has since been taken down, consistent with ad creative being rotated and deleted). A page with only 10 followers can only bring in users through paid ads. Our metaads library doesn't track this advertiser, so the number of ads can't be verified.
- Portfolio reuse (confirmed). 9 packages share one developer account, one email and one privacy policy template (domain / privacy-policy), with matching descriptions and feature wording (video chat, voice rooms, real-time translation, beauty filters). A new package can use existing host supply, payments, paid acquisition accounts and creative know-how from day one. The new-shell cadence seems to be roughly one every 4 months: VivoLive in March, XaveLive in July, FicaLive in July, Boralive in October.
- Splitting shells by country (inferred). XaveLive targets Nigeria and Brazil. FicaLive / VivoLive lean toward Brazil (the Portuguese names "Fica" and "Bora" are Brazilian slang). MissLive spreads across 17 countries. Different packages take chart spots and ad audiences in different countries, so a bad review wave on one package doesn't sink the others.
- APK sites and sponsored-article spam (confirmed, but small effect). Softonic, Aptoide, APKPure, AppBrain, apkburger and appsapk all have pages, and the Softonic description openly says "connects adults". These pages are mostly auto-scraped and bring in limited traffic.
- Host / agency supply side (unverified). The category norm is recruiting female hosts in Facebook groups, with agencies taking a commission. One five-star Brazilian review ("Super satisfeita… consigo interagir perfeitamente com os usuários", 2026-07-30) clearly reads like it comes from a host's perspective. Brazilian one-star reviews accuse the app of "obviously bot-generated messages" and of "using bots posing as women to call people."
- TikTok / X / media: none. TikHub searches for xavelive, vivolive and comlive each return 0 videos. x-radar over 90 days returns 0 posts. No media coverage.
4. Why it took off
- Demand side: Nigeria and Brazil have large numbers of men who want to video chat with "foreign / local women." The "adults only" angle in Facebook ads suggests high click-through, which is why dozens of packages in this category can survive at the same time.
- Supply side: the real product of this kind of app is "someone to chat with you." The company uses agency hosts plus automatic greetings and bot messages to make sure a new user always has someone reaching out (reviews repeatedly mention "girls messaging me right after I signed up" and "the messages are sent by a program"). The first paid conversion depends on this hook.
- Monetization: every message and every minute of video costs coins (a Nigerian review says "you have to paid in every massage you send"; a review of a sibling app says "I paid 2500 and only went on video call for just few seconds"). The top single purchase is $99.99.
- Why now: it isn't tied to any platform event. It follows the company's fixed rhythm. Once the old shells (FogoLive / ComLive) accumulate enough bad reviews and rising acquisition costs, they launch a new shell to reset ratings and reputation. XaveLive's rating has already dropped from about 4.55 to 3.6, showing this shell is aging fast too, and its chart ranking has slipped over these 9 days.
5. Differentiation
No product differentiation. Features (1v1 video, voice rooms, translation, beauty filters, coins) are basically the same as the company's 8 other packages and the dozens of others like Chamet / MeetJoy / Minemo. The only differences are three: a new name (fresh ratings, fresh audience), a new country focus (Nigeria plus Brazil), and sexual innuendo in the ad creatives. It works because of the parent company's paid acquisition capability and a proven companion-chat monetization system, not because of the product. Compare with contemporaries: MeetJoy, also in Nigeria and launched in the same period, grew +7k in 157 days and already reached Top Grossing, while XaveLive only grew +36k and its Top Grossing rank is falling. Inside and outside the portfolio, it isn't the one doing best.
6. How visible it is
Barely known: no public revenue, no media or X discussion, 0 videos on TikTok. It only appears on chart and estimate sites like AppGazers, AppGoblin, Sensor Tower and Appfigures, and on APK sites. That said, the category itself is a well-known, mature corner of the going-global scene and has been crowded for a long time.
7. What others can borrow
- A "one system + N shells" portfolio: shared backend, hosts, payments and paid acquisition, with new packages to reset ratings and split audiences by country, and a new shell every few months.
- Low-price countries (Nigeria) are used to push Top Free and buy cheap installs. High-ARPU countries (Brazil) are used to recover in-app purchase revenue. Category charts in small countries have low bars, so a few thousand installs a day can reach the top 30.
- Localized-language ad creatives with reverse hooks like "adults only."
- Costs: bad reviews pile up fast (bot messages, per-message charges), shells have short lifespans, and there's Google policy risk (18+ sexual content rating, misleading payment prompts).
8. Uncertain
- Actual ad spend scale, cost per install, ROI (not tracked in metaads, and the Facebook page content has been deleted).
- Revenue: two third-party estimates differ by more than 2x (<$5K vs about $10K+), neither verified.
- The exact workings of the bot messages and host agencies, which only exist as accusations in reviews.
- The entity behind Insight-Innov (Hong Kong registered; the domain, wording and category are very similar to Chinese outbound teams, unverified).
