> From October 20 to November 2, it ran two weeks of concentrated buys. The Indian Lifestyle grossing chart has a low bar, and 1v1 video users pay tens of dollars at once. A few dozen paying users pushed it up the chart. Once the buys stopped, daily installs fell from over three thousand to a hundred or two.

# 30k installs got it into India's top grossing chart: Meetix is a shell, not a hit

**What it is** : a stranger 1v1 video chat app. Users buy coins to video-call people, with in-app purchases from $0.49 to $99.99.

**Why it took off** : from Oct 20 to Nov 2 it bought two weeks of traffic. India's Lifestyle top-grossing bar is low, and 1v1 video users can spend tens of dollars in one go, so a few dozen paying users was enough to push it up the chart. When spend stopped, daily installs fell from over three thousand back to one or two hundred.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't copy another Chamet. The worthwhile takeaway is the playbook: pick the low-bar Lifestyle category, run one backend with several shells on small test budgets; for 1v1 paying users, enter through local-language markets or paid companionship with a clear use case.

C grade: you can learn category choice, running shell apps and spotting shells from this, but the segment has been crowded for years, the leaders are hundreds to tens of thousands of times bigger, and streamer supply, review and large paid acquisition are out of reach for a small team. Following it isn't worth it. Almost nobody knows about it

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-08-18 · 11-07 installs 31,094

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

Meetix is a stranger 1v1 video chat app. Two and a half months after launch, with 31k installs, it reached #59 on India's Google Play Lifestyle top-grossing chart. That rank looks good, but a closer look shows it is one of several shells a small team ran at the same time: two weeks of paid acquisition pushed it up, and installs dropped back once spend stopped. The app itself isn't worth following. What's worth learning is how it got that rank, and how to recognize this kind of shell when you see similar chart signals.

### A positive review from Kenya

On Oct 18, a user named Mary Njeri left the review "it's helping in interaction internationally" on Meetix's Play page. Earlier, on Sep 12, Monu Kumar wrote "nice free app", and on Sep 19 mashukur rahman wrote "it's a good app". The three names read as Kenyan, Indian and Bangladeshi, and each review is a one-line five-star.

Two days after Mary Njeri's review, installs started climbing. From Oct 9 to 17 it was only getting dozens of new installs a day; from Oct 20 it rose to 600 a day, and around Oct 26 it hit over 3,000 a day; on Nov 4 it dropped back to 87 (third-party estimates plus Google Play install counts, 10-09 to 11-06).

### What it is

The store page (11-06, India store) has a Hindi description: instant video calls, text chat before video, meet friends around the world, safe and private. A final English line makes the positioning plainer: "Random Match, Video Call; Video Chat Strangers and Make Friends". Rated 18+, labeled "Users Interact, In-App Purchases", with in-app prices from $0.49 to $99.99.

The top price is $99.99, and the stranger-video positioning is the same model as Chamet, Tumile and ChaloJi: users buy coins and 1v1 video-call real people, with coins deducted per minute. We did not download Meetix to test its billing, so per-minute coin deduction is an inference.

Since its Aug 18 launch, the "What's new" section still reads "First version" and it has never been updated.

### Why 30k installs can get it onto the grossing chart

First, its neighbors on India's Lifestyle top-grossing chart 11-06 (install counts are Google Play data, 11-06):

| Rank | App | Total installs |
|---|---|---|
| #2 | Livmet Pro | 6.26M |
| #5 | ChaloJi | 11.2M |
| #8 | Tumile | 50.7M |
| #37 | Soulmet | 8.22M |
| #41 | KRSvedic | 6,892 |
| #52 | Soulike | 8,657 |
| #59 | **Meetix** | 31k |
| #60 | Yoko | 1.6M |

On the same chart, apps with under 10,000 installs reach #41 and #52. There are two reasons: India's Lifestyle top-grossing bar is low, and 1v1 paid video users can spend tens of dollars at once, so a few dozen payers is enough to hold a high rank. So #59 shows that people are paying, but not how big the business is.

11-05 It also appeared on the Lifestyle top-grossing chart in 16 countries: #133 in Hong Kong, #143 in Nigeria, #149 in the Philippines, #150 in Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia, and #151 in Singapore, Argentina and Thailand. Nearly identical ranks across this many countries look more like small-country category charts reusing one aggregate ranking than real revenue in 16 countries.

### Where users came from: two weeks of paid acquisition, switched on and off

The whole install curve is a square wave: flat, then a sudden rise, then a sudden drop.

| Timeline | Daily new installs (estimated) |
|---|---|
| Late September to early October | 250–440 |
| 10-09 to 10-17 | ~25 |
| 10-20 to 11-02 | 600–3,500 |
| 11-04 to 11-06 | 87–235 |

Apps that grow from organic traffic rarely look like this. The curve looks more like ad budget switched on and off (inference). We couldn't determine which channel was used: searching "Meetix" on TikTok turns up unrelated accounts, X has 30 posts in the last 0 days, and the only things findable online are APK mirror sites. The roughly 22k installs from this surge can reasonably be attributed to paid acquisition (inference).

The review section has 327 reviews with an average of 4.5 stars (Play India, 11-06). Nearly all are one-line five-star reviews, and none describe the actual experience. 30k installs corresponds to 300 reviews, a ratio that isn't outlandish; but these reviews can't prove that this batch of users actually stuck around.

### Who made it: one account, four shells

The developer is YST LLC. The address is in Arcadia, California (a Chinese community area in LA that overseas teams often use to register US companies). The developer email uses the cheap .autos suffix, and the support email is a random name plus digits on gmail. This setup looks like shell accounts registered specifically for the purpose (inference).

This account has 4 apps:

- **2048 Classic** (2026-02): a mini-game with 100+ downloads, privacy policy hosted directly on Google Docs, which looks like an account-warming app (inference);

- **Ooka: Video Chat & Fast Calling** (2026-08-06);

- **Meetix** (2026-08-18);

- **Pairza: Live Video Chat & calling** (2026-10-19), 1+ downloads.

The privacy policies for Ooka, Meetix and Pairza are all hosted under ookachat.com, and that domain's root path is the privacy policy for another app, "Onely". That means one backend supports at least four video-chat shells. The likely approach: warm accounts with mini-games first, then reskin and relist one shell after another on the same backend, test each shell with a small budget, keep spending on whatever works and drop whatever doesn't (inference). Meetix performed best of these, and it still has only 30k installs.

There's one more coincidence: a same-named app, "Meetix – Group Live Video Chat" (by Peano Mobile, on both iOS and Android), already existed. We did not verify whether YST's choice of name picked up branded search traffic as a side effect.

### Who it's competing with

This is almost the most crowded lane in social apps for going global (install counts are Google Play data, 11-06):

| Product | Launched | Scale | Compared with Meetix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tango | 2010 | 387M installs | Live streaming tips + video chat |
| Azar | 2013 | 293M installs | Part of Match Group, branded random matching |
| OmeTV | 2015 | 254M installs | An Omegle alternative with a web version |
| Chamet | 2019 | 78.4M installs | Streamers 1v1 + party rooms, #4 on the UAE top-grossing overall chart |
| Tumile | 2016 | 50.7M installs | Same model, long-established; #8 on India's Lifestyle top grossing |
| ChaloJi | 2025-07 | 11.2M, 7 days +240k | Same model, same category, same market |
| Lavo / Sano / Yoko / Niko and others | 2025-12 to 2026-06 | 1M–4.5M, 7 days +90k to +330k | Same template, paid acquisition budget one order of magnitude bigger |

Meetix has no real difference from these products in features, positioning or market, and its scale is 100 to 10,000 times smaller. It is itself a clone of a proven template, and I see no one copying it.

### Three things to take away

**Go for the low-bar chart.** ChaloJi, Livmet, Lavo and Meetix all filed under Lifestyle rather than Social or Communication. In India, that category's Top Grossing chart can be reached with tens of thousands of installs and dozens of paying users. If your goal is "charted in Top Grossing" for fundraising, distribution or ad creatives, picking the right category saves a lot of money.

**One backend, many shells, small bets.** Build the backend once, reskin the front end, put three or four packages under one account, give each two weeks of paid spend to see the data, and stop the ones that don't work. Low cost, fast testing. This playbook also works in categories beyond 1v1 video, such as utilities, AI companions and wallpapers.

**Spot the sock puppets.** When you see a new app plus a small-country category chart plus a square-wave install curve plus reviews that are all one-line five-star praise, it is very likely a sock puppet testing paid traffic, not a product that grew on its own. Don't spend time studying the product.

### If it were you

**Bottom line:** there is nothing in Meetix worth copying. Paid video chat for 1v1 does make money, but the business is gated by host supply, content moderation, payment channels and heavy paid acquisition. Top players are hundreds to tens of thousands of times bigger. Indie devs and small teams copying it have almost no chance.

**Who it suits:** companies already doing social apps for overseas markets, with host agency resources and a paid acquisition team. For them, Meetix is one more sign that India's Lifestyle chart has a low bar, and a reference for calibrating test budgets for their own sock puppets.

**Not for:** people who can only write code, have no host resources, and have never run ads; anyone who can't handle Google Play takedown risk (stranger video plus 18+ rating plus large in-app purchases is a review hotspot on Google Play, and one package getting banned is common, inferred).

**How to build it (if you really want to):** Don't build "another Chamet." It's cheaper to enter where it falls short: say, local-language voice chat with same-city matching (Tamil, Bengali), or paid 1v1 with a clear use case (language practice, career consulting). For monetization, copy the pay-per-minute coin model, and file it under Lifestyle.

**How to acquire users:** this category has no organic traffic, so you have to buy it. Test one package for two weeks at a few hundred dollars a day, and watch first-day payer rate and day-7 payback. If it doesn't pay back, reskin and test again rather than adding budget.

**When to move:** no rush. This track has been crowded for several years, and there is no window to speak of.

**What would show I got it wrong:** ① without a new round of paid traffic, Meetix's installs recover on their own to 1,000+ per day, which would mean organic retention or word of mouth, not paid traffic alone; ② Pairza from YST or the next sock puppet hits 30k installs within 100 days, which would mean this small team has found a repeatable low-cost acquisition method worth dissecting for its creatives and channels; ③ India's Lifestyle Top Grossing bar clearly rises (for example #60 requires 500k+ installs), which would mean the category-selection shortcut no longer works.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Azar | Android | 2013 | 293M installs | Big-brand random matching; Meetix is a no-brand sock puppet |
| OmeTV | Android | 2015 | 254M installs | Omegle alternative, mostly random matching, has a web version |
| Tango | Android | 2010 | 387M installs, #8 on Turkey's overall Top Grossing chart | Live tipping + video chat, orders of magnitude larger |
| Chamet | Android | 2019 | 78.4M installs, #4 on the UAE Top Grossing overall chart | Same-category hosted video 1v1 + party rooms, already at scale |
| ChaloJi | Android | 2025-07 | 11.2M installs, +7k in 240 days, #5 Top Grossing in Lifestyle (India) | Same model, same category, same market, paid acquisition two orders of magnitude larger |
| Livmet Pro | Android | 2025-03 | 6.26M installs, #2 on India's Lifestyle Top Grossing | Same model, already broke out |
| Tumile | Android | 2016 | 50.7M installs, #8 on India's Lifestyle Top Grossing | Same model, long-established |
| New sock puppets such as Lavo / Sano / Yoko / Niko | Android | 2025-12 to 2026-06 | 1M–4.5M installs, 7 days +90k to +330k | Same template, far larger paid acquisition budget |
| Meetix – Group Live Video Chat(Peano Mobile) | iOS | Unverified (predates 2026) | Not verified | Another random/group video chat with the same name; YST may be riding the name |

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (channel unknown, likely Google UAC / Meta / ad networks)** : the install curve is a square wave: about 25 per day → 600–3,500 → 87–235 per day, with sudden turns on and off. The metaads library has no record (that library doesn't track social apps).

- **Confirmed** **Sock-puppet matrix / reskins** : the same developer, YST LLC, has Ooka (08-06), Meetix (08-18) and Pairza (10-19), all with privacy policies on ookachat.com. The root path of that domain is another app, Onely.

- **Confirmed** **Account warming** : the same account first published 2026-02 2048 mini-game(s) (100+ downloads); the support email is a random-name gmail address, and the developer domain uses .autos.

- **Confirmed** **Category selection (low-bar chart)** : filed under Lifestyle. On India's Lifestyle Top Grossing chart, Soulike with 8,657 installs can still rank #52.

- Inferred **Name piggybacking** : same name as Peano Mobile's Meetix.

- Inferred **TikTok / X / press** : TikHub, x-radar and Jina search return nothing relevant.

## Research report: Meetix – Meet friends video call (com.yst.meetix.video.call.chat)

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: YST LLC | Store launch: 2026-08-18 | Research date: 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

Meetix is a "1v1 stranger video chat + in-app coin purchase" app from a team running several sock puppets at once, and a very small one within this template. It surfaced for two reasons: between 10-20 and 11-02 there was a clear wave of paid traffic switched on and then off; and India's Lifestyle Top Grossing chart has a very low bar, while paid video chat for 1v1 pays out a lot per user, so 30k installs reached #41–#67. The product itself has no differentiation. Once paid traffic stopped, installs dropped straight back to a hundred or two hundred a day. Calling it "broke out" isn't accurate. It looks more like another sock puppet of the same template running a small-scale test.

### 1. What it is

- Store description (Play page, read 2026-11-06): leads with Instant Video Calls, Text Chat, Friends Around the World, Safe & Private; the tail reads "Random Match, Video Call; Video Chat Strangers and Make Friends."

- Content rating is Mature 17+, labelled "Users Interact, In-App Purchases"; in-app purchase prices run $0.49–$99.99 (data card iap_range). The "What's new" section still says "First version," meaning there has been no update since launch.

- Monetization: top in-app item at $99.99, consumable-style coin packs, plus a stranger video positioning. This matches the "hosts / real people 1v1 video, per-minute coin deduction" model of Chamet, Tumile and ChaloJi. Nothing inside the app was tested; per-minute coin deduction is inferred.

- Privacy policy hosted at `ookachat.com/meetix/`. The root of ookachat.com opens the privacy policy for another app, Onely (Last Revised 2026-01-16, for 18+ only). So at least four products, Ooka, Meetix, Pairza and Onely, sit under the same backend and landing domain.

### 2. Growth data (source: googleplay library app_day / app_day_ext / chart_rank)

| Date | Total installs | Average daily new installs | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-09-20 | 2,277 | ~250 | AppstoreSpy estimate, launched about 1 months ago |
| 2026-10-04 | 6,515 | ~440 | AppstoreSpy estimate |
| 2026-10-09 → 10-17 | 6,652 → 6,850 | ~25 | Nearly stalled |
| 2026-10-20 | 8,659 | ~600 | Started ramping |
| 2026-10-22 | 12,646 | ~2,000 | |
| 2026-10-26 | 19,164 | ~3,500 | Peak |
| 2026-10-30 | 25,643 | ~3,200 | |
| 2026-11-02/03 | 30,450 | ~1,600 | |
| 2026-11-04 | 30,624 | ~87 | Sharp drop |
| 2026-11-06 | 31,094 | ~235 | |

- Last 7 days +11,929 (app_profile.installs_gain_7d), but nearly all of it came from 10-30 to 11-03; in the last two days it's only a hundred or two hundred a day.

- The curve is a square wave: first stalled (~25/day), then within two weeks it climbed to 2,000–3,500/day, then suddenly fell back to 100–200/day. Organic traffic rarely moves like this. It fits paid budgets being switched on and off (inferred; the ad library didn't capture direct evidence, see below).

- Charts: India Lifestyle Top Grossing 10-29 #41 → 11-03 #61 → 11-06 #59; India Lifestyle Top Free #110–#180. From 11-05 it suddenly appeared on Lifestyle Top Grossing charts in 16 countries, with ranks all bunched at #133–#169 (hk 133, ng 143, ph 149, my/vn/id 150, sg/ar/th 151, and so on). Nearly identical ranks across that many countries match the suspicion from the start: most likely small-country category charts share a single aggregate chart with a very low bar, so this doesn't mean 16 countries are all making money.

- No rating count on Play (ratings = null), and no reviews in the library. 30k installs with no visible ratings means very few real active users and little community feedback.

### 3. Why 30k installs can reach #59 on India's Lifestyle Top Grossing

On the same day (11-06), the top 70 of India's Lifestyle Top Grossing chart had similar products ranked just before and after it, with install counts orders of magnitude larger: Livmet Pro #2 (6.25M installs), ChaloJi #5 (11.2M), Tumile #8 (50.7M), Lavo #15 (2.55M), Niko #21 (4.46M), Soulmet #37 (8.22M), Sano #46 (1.05M), Yoko #60 (1.6M). There are also tiny apps like Soulike (YE YIJIA, 8,657 installs) at #52 and KRSvedic (6,892 installs) at #41. Two takeaways: (1) India's Lifestyle Top Grossing bar is very low, and apps with a few thousand or tens of thousands of installs can chart with only a few payers; (2) paid 1v1 video chat yields high payment per install, so a handful of top-ups can hold up a rank. So #59 means "someone is paying" and does not imply "at scale."

### 4. Developer and portfolio (Play developer page, app listings)

- YST LLC, address 128 W Pamela Rd, Arcadia, CA 91007 (a Chinese-American area in LA often used by overseas teams as a US LLC registration address). Developer email dev@ystllc.autos (.autos is a cheap suffix); support email is a random-name gmail, `castejonjoyce1b361@gmail.com`. This is a typical registered or purchased shell developer account.

- Apps under this account: 4
    - 2048 Classic: Puzzle Game (updated 2026-02-11,100+ downloads, privacy policy on Google Docs): looks like a small game used to warm up the account;
    - Ooka: Video Chat & Fast Calling (updated 2026-08-06, rated 4.4, same backend domain as Meetix);
    - Meetix(2026-08-18);
    - Pairza: Live Video Chat & calling (2026-10-19,1+ downloads, privacy policy at ookachat.com/pairza).

- The approach is to warm up an account first, then ship video-chat sock puppets back to back on the same backend, test paid traffic on each with a small budget, keep funding the one that runs, and switch to the next when it doesn't. Meetix is the best performer so far, but its scale is still very small.

- Name clash: an established product already called "Meetix – Group Live Video Chat" exists (Peano Mobile, iOS + Android `com.zubapps.meetix`, peanomobile.com/apps/meetix). YST used the same name, which may pick up some brand-search traffic, but I haven't verified whether that was intentional.

### 5. Competitors

This is one of the most crowded tracks in going-global social apps. In the googleplay library, many apps with video chat or random match in the title or description have tens of millions of users, and many new sock puppets use a personal name plus a gmail address for their developer name, the same play as Meetix.

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (googleplay library, 2026-11-06) | How it differs from Meetix |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Azar(Hyperconnect/Match Group) | Android/iOS | 2013 | 293M installs | Brand-name random matching, run by big-company ops |
| OmeTV | Android / iOS / web | 2015 | 254M installs | An Omegle alternative, mostly pure random matching |
| Tango | Android/iOS | 2010 | 387M installs | Live tipping + video chat, #8 overall on Turkey's Top Grossing |
| Chamet | Android/iOS | 2019 | 78.4M installs | Host 1v1 + parties, #4 overall on UAE's Top Grossing |
| Tumile | Android | 2016 | 50.7M | Same model, long-established; #8 on India's Lifestyle top grossing |
| ChaloJi | Android | 2025-07 | 11.2M, 7 days +240k | Same model, focused on India, #5 on India's Lifestyle Top Grossing |
| Livmet Pro | Android | 2025-03 | 6.26M | Same model, #2 on India's Lifestyle Top Grossing |
| New sock puppets such as Lavo / Sano / Yoko / Niko | Android | 2025-12 to 2026-06 | $1M–$4.5M, 7 days +$90k to +$330k | Same template, paid acquisition budget an order of magnitude bigger |
| Meetix (Peano Mobile, same name) | iOS/Android | Earlier | Not verified | Random/group video chat with the same name |
| Ooka / Pairza (same developer) | Android | 2026-08 / 2026-10 | Pairza 1+ | Own clones |

Bottom line: the competition is crowded, and most of these apps are 100–10,000 times bigger. Next to them, Meetix shows no real difference in features, positioning, or region.

### 6. Growth levers and evidence

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Paid acquisition (likely Google UAC / Meta / ad networks) | The install curve is a square wave: 10-09~10-17 about 25,10-20~11-02 per day, rising to 600–3,500,11-04 per day, then 87–235 per day (app_day_ext, app_day) | No (inferred from the curve shape; the metaads library has no record, and that library only tracks tool-type keywords, so no record doesn't mean no spend) |
| Sock-puppet matrix / reskins | The same developer runs Ooka, Meetix, and Pairza, all sharing the ookachat.com backend; Onely is also on that domain | Yes |
| Account warming | Same account went up with 2026-02 first 2048 mini-games (100+ downloads) | Yes (purpose is inferred) |
| Store search / riding on a same name | Same name as Peano Mobile's Meetix | No |
| TikTok / X / press / Reddit | A TikHub search for "Meetix" only returns unrelated accounts (meetixrp is a FiveM server, Methix is a music app); x-radar shows 0 posts in the last 30 days; Jina search only turns up APK mirror sites | Confirmed none |

### 7. Visibility

Almost nobody knows about it yet: no press coverage, no discussion on X, no content on TikTok, no public revenue figures, only APK mirror sites index it. But the "1v1 video social going global" model is already a publicly known playbook in going-global circles, and the space is crowded, so "nobody knows Meetix" doesn't mean there's an opening here.

### 8. Copycats

I didn't find anyone copying Meetix. It's itself built on an established template (the Chamet / Tumile / ChaloJi type).

### 9. Differentiation

No product-level differentiation. Two things could pass for "different": (a) it files under the Lifestyle category, not Social or Communication, and that category has a lower bar on India's Top Grossing; similar apps ChaloJi, Livmet, and Lavo do the same; (b) riding a same name. Both are distribution tactics, not product differences. It reached the chart through category choice, a small amount of paid acquisition, and the high ARPU of a 1v1 paid model.

### 10. Takeaways

- If all you want is the "charted on a top grossing list" signal, pick a low-bar category (India Lifestyle) and pair it with a high-ARPU monetization model. A few tens of thousands of installs can be enough.

- The matrix play: one backend, several shell accounts, warm up the accounts first, then test with small budgets and shut down the puppets that don't perform. Low cost, fast to test.

- A warning in the other direction: when you see "new app + top grossing in a small country's category + a square-wave install curve," it's most likely this kind of puppet test, not a product that grew on its own.

### 11. What's uncertain

- No direct evidence of the specific acquisition channels or spend (Google UAC? Meta? ad networks?).

- Actual revenue: a top grossing rank only shows that people are paying, not how much. The in-app billing (coins deducted per minute, real hosts vs. AI/pre-recorded) has not been verified.

- Who's behind it: the Arcadia address, the ookachat domain, and Onely all point to the same Chinese-run going-global team, but no company entity or other accounts were found.

- How big Peano's Meetix is, and whether YST deliberately rides its name, have not been verified.
