Getting the "gearhead" hacks onto the Play Store: how Indonesian dev Red Corner reached 2.21M installs via Free Fire players
What it is A root-free game space app: it lines your games up for launch, floats FPS, CPU and temperature readouts over the screen, and uses wireless debugging / ADB permissions to adjust graphics, frame rate and touch per game. Its main users are Free Fire players on low- to mid-range phones in Southeast Asia.
Why it took off Players on mid-range phones had long wanted the game spaces found on Red Magic and ROG, but it meant wrestling with Shizuku and copying files by hand. It was the first to ship that as a legit app on Play. The developer launched it on TikTok himself, and players then posted before-and-after tutorials on their own. One Vietnamese video hit 956k views.
BHow you could follow Stop chasing Free Fire in Southeast Asia. Pick a market with lots of mid-range phones instead, or a feature that also needs Shizuku/ADB, and turn it into a one-tap install on Play. Launch through insider accounts, have players film before-and-after videos, and monetize with energy plus rewarded ads.

An Indonesian indie developer turned a "game space" (floating FPS panels and graphics tuning, like ROG and Red Magic phones) that used to require a Shizuku plugin and privately shared APKs into an app you can install straight from Google Play. Free Fire players in Southeast Asia posted on TikTok that it made their headshots more accurate, and in four months it reached 2.21M installs. Revenue comes from watching ads to earn "energy" and from memberships. The approach is sound, but the barrier is low: Zayon, launched at the end of October, copied it, reached 270k installs in 10 days, and has already passed it on Indonesia's charts.
A video that says "still in early testing"
In 2026 Jul 9, TikTok user @fahrezone posted a video captioned with one line: "Masih early access😁" ("still in early access"). The account has 82k followers and belongs to Indonesian developer FahrezRB, who maintains AxManager on GitHub (1,551 stars) and several Shizuku and KernelSU forks under the name fahrez182. In Indonesia's root-free hacking community he is a known name. The video ended up with 460k views and 10k likes. The same day, Red Corner - Game Space went live on Google Play.
A month later, a player in Thailand left this review on Google Play (08-12,35 people marked it helpful):
Better than I expected. At first I thought it wouldn't do much, but once I used it, it really helped. The FPS lock works really well.
Another said "playing Minecraft went from FPS 17 to 47," and the shortest one read: "Playing Free Fire, headshots are super accurate" (10-28).
What it actually is
When you open it, you get a game library that lines up your phone's games so you can launch from there. Once a game is running, a floating panel on the edge of the screen shows FPS, CPU, GPU and temperature in real time. The interface is deliberately styled after the game spaces built into manufacturer gaming phones. The real features are in "Game-Labs": per-game resolution, frame rate, touch sensitivity and graphics settings.
It isn't the kind of "one-tap RAM cleaner" that only soothes you psychologically. It gets system-level permissions through wireless debugging, ADB or OTG and actually changes system settings. The update notes mention OTG activation, TCP/IP, ANGLE texture filtering and key mapping. Things like this already existed in the gearhead scene, but you had to install Shizuku or AxManager first, find plugins, and copy files with ZArchiver. Red Corner does one thing: it turns that whole chain into a single tap on "Install" in Play.
A line that kept recurring in player videos sums up its pitch: "no shizuku/zarchiver, ORI dari playstore" (no Shizuku, no copying files, the genuine Play Store version).
Why Southeast Asia, and why Free Fire
Free Fire is a national mobile game in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, and most of its players use mid-range phones like Infinix, Tecno, itel or older Redmi models. Xiaomi, Samsung, ROG and Red Magic all have their own game spaces, but those only work on their own phones, and the cheap models either lack one or have a weak version. On TikTok there's a tag called #gamespaceredmagic. What users want is the Red Magic look.
The demand was already there. What was missing was an entry point a regular player could actually install. There's also a more direct psychological hook: this community believes "tune it right and you can control recoil and land headshots," and Red Corner overlays frame-rate numbers right on the screen, so anyone can see the before and after.
Where users come from
The developer's own account lit the fuse. After the launch video hit 460k views, he kept posting updates from the same account: one clip got 9-25 217k views, and another, "Fomo bikin fitur grafik mc pake Angle Driver" ("Jealous, so I built an MC graphics feature using the ANGLE driver"), got 10-31 140k views. There's also a WhatsApp channel that pushes new versions.
Then players made their own tutorials, and that was the main driver. Vietnamese creator @hoangngocnamgamer posted in Aug 11 a Free Fire clip titled "kéo tâm full đỏ" (full red recoil control, every shot a headshot), which got 956k views. Thai @minesuy's install tutorial reached 198k, Indonesian @mmmhmdfrrz reached 138k (with the Play link and a tag for the developer), and Spanish-speaking @yetisa_123 reached 90k. YouTube also has tutorials titled things like "Red Corner Game Space - Say Goodbye to Lag 2026." In Aug 19, game outlet VCGamers published a write-up.
These videos line up with the install curve: in the first two weeks after launch it ran 2–40k a day. A second wave hit from Aug 8 to 16, peaking at about 130k in a single day (08-10), and the week added around 550k. From 9 to October it settled back to 1–20k a day, and it now runs about 13k a day (AppstoreSpy estimate). As of 11-06, cumulative Google Play installs stand at 2.21M, with +91k over the past 7 days.
Category charts caught the long tail. In Indonesia's Personalization free chart it was ranked #10-29 on 13, rising to #3 by 11-05. 11-06 it was #7 in Thailand, #15 in Vietnam and #30 in Malaysia. Category charts in small countries have low entry barriers, so landing in the top few means steady organic exposure (inference).
No evidence was found of paid acquisition or paid creator deals.
Where the money comes from
Features are metered by "energy." Free users watch a rewarded ad to earn energy. Paid members get ad-free use and unlimited energy, with in-app purchases in the store priced at $2.49–$9.49. So every install generates a little ad revenue. It has stayed in the 22–26 range on Indonesia's Personalization Top Grossing chart, though revenue isn't disclosed.
The cost is the experience. The most-liked negative reviews all complain that the ads are too frequent and too long. Beyond APKPure and Uptodown, sites are already distributing cracked "Premium Unlocked" versions, which are siphoning off some paying users.
Who it's competing with
| Name | Launched | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | How Red Corner differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zayon: Game Space | 2026-10-27 | 270k installs, growing from zero in 10 days; #1 on Indonesia's Personalization free and Top Grossing charts, #2 on the Philippines free chart, #4 on Brazil's Top Grossing | Nearly the same product, but it shipped the "grafik MC" block-graphics feature that went viral first. Official-site tutorials in 10 languages and a dedicated TikTok account |
| 120 FPS Booster, FPS Booster Turbo, Rocket Game Booster and others | 2025–2026 | 3M–16M, adding 100k–400k a week | Paid-acquisition "one-tap boosters" that are mostly placebo and don't change system settings |
| Gaming Mode - Game Booster PRO | 2019 | 42.6M | Long-standing RAM cleaners and do-not-disturb tools, with no per-game graphics or frame-rate tuning |
| GearUP, LagoFast | 2022–2023 | 4.59M–67.8M | Sell network-acceleration subscriptions. They manage the network, not the phone |
| Manufacturer game spaces (Xiaomi, Samsung, ROG, Red Magic) | Already around | Built into the system | Only available on their own phones. This is the gap Red Corner fills |
Zayon is the one to watch. Within 10 days of launch it had moved ahead of Red Corner on its home turf, and it pushed Red Corner to follow its features. The developer himself called it "Fomo" in the video. Whether the two are related, or whether they share the same approach or code, is unclear.
Several risks need careful thought
- Bans. Jul 30, a Thai player left a 1-star review: "Played for a day, banned after 5 days for 7 days... I thought it wouldn't get banned, don't believe it." Another 5-star review says "Very smooth, but sometimes gets banned." Whether changing frame rate or graphics counts as cheating is up to the game company, and that's a real threat to retention.
- How much of "more accurate headshots" is psychological. Some reviews say the FPS shown on the floating panel doesn't match what's happening in the game. Whether the effect is real directly determines whether players keep watching the ads.
- Play policy. The product relies on Android debugging permissions. If it's ever classified as "deceptive acceleration" or as obtaining permissions improperly, removal could come overnight.
- Misuse means reflashing. One 3-star review: "Works well, but if you use it wrong you have to wipe the phone and start over, and the screen glitches. Hard to deal with if it's your only phone."
If it were you
The bottom line: This playbook, which turns gearhead hacks into a legitimate Play app, spreads on TikTok through visible results, and monetizes through rewarded ads, is worth learning from. But building another Southeast Asia Free Fire game space now is too late. Zayon has just shown that this spot can be copied within 10 days.
Who it suits: Android developers who already know Shizuku, ADB and wireless debugging well enough to make system-level tweaks stable without bricking users' phones. Ideally, you already have accounts and credibility in some player or gearhead community.
Who it doesn't suit: People who can only wrap a "one-tap booster" (that lane belongs to the big paid-acquisition spenders); people unwilling to face ban complaints and policy-removal risk; and people who want a long-term subscription business. These users have low willingness to pay, and the money mostly comes from ads.
How to do it:
- Pick a different place or a different thing, and don't head-on compete. Place: Free Fire and other big mobile games with mid-range phone audiences in South Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. First check whether Red Corner or Zayon-style products already sit in the local Personalization and Tools category charts on Play. Thing: other features that "need Shizuku or ADB to work" (app cloning, removing system ads, per-app resolution changes). Look for the one that gets the most discussion in gearhead forums and Telegram groups but that nobody has yet put on Play.
- Build it on the same skeleton: a game library, a floating data panel, and per-game tuning, with activation reduced to a one-tap flow (wireless debugging walked through step by step with screenshots). Then focus on the complaints it gets: shorter ads, one-tap recovery when something goes wrong, and clear warnings before any adjustment that might get an account banned.
- Copy the monetization: energy + rewarded ads + membership, so every install brings in a little revenue, and use that money to absorb growth.
How to acquire users: The developer or an insider account posts the first video, a screen recording of "FPS before, FPS after," then local mid-tier player accounts make tutorials with titles like "No root, genuine Play Store version." Each new feature gets a video riding whatever graphics trend is hot on TikTok, the way Red Corner rode "grafik MC."
When to move: Windows for entry-point opportunities like this are short. Zayon went from launch to the top in 10 days. Once you pick a market, aim to ship within a month or two and crack the top few in the local category chart, claiming the "genuine version" position before anyone else does.
Signs you're misreading it: video views are high but a large share of users stall at activation, so installs pile up and retention stays low; reviews start filling up with account bans; or it gets pulled from Play for policy violations a few weeks after launch. Another one: in the market you picked, most devices already ship with a built-in game space, so users don't really need this.

Why Red Corner - Game Space (frb.axeron.redcorner) took off
Google Play · Developer FRB Project (Indonesian indie developer FahrezRB / GitHub fahrez182 / TikTok @fahrezone) · Released 2026-07-09 · Category Personalization · Research day 2026-11-06
Bottom line
An indie developer from Indonesia's "root-free phone tweaking" scene turned a "Game Space" (modeled on ROG and RedMagic game spaces: floating FPS/CPU/GPU monitors, touch and graphics tuning) that used to require Shizuku/ADB plugins and privately shared APKs into a proper app you can install straight from the Play Store. The developer's first TikTok video alone got 460k views. Then Free Fire players in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand posted their own tutorials claiming it made recoil steadier and headshots easier, pushing it to 2.21M installs. Acquisition came almost entirely from organic TikTok content, and revenue comes from rewarded ads ("energy") and in-app membership. Its edge is "no root, no Shizuku file juggling, on Play," which is why it took off. But that moat is easy to copy: Zayon, launched 2026-10-27 with the same playbook, reached 10k installs in 270 days and has already pushed it down on Indonesia's Personalization free and grossing charts.
1. Data
- 2,213,131 total installs worldwide, +7 in the last 91,008 days (googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06). 6,440 ratings, and the rating count grows by 17–53 a day from 10-29 to 11-06.
- Install curve since launch (googleplay library app_day_ext, AppstoreSpy estimates):
- 07-15 already at 130k, then 2–40k a day in the first two weeks after launch;
- A second wave arrived between 08-08 and 08-16, peaking at about 130k in a single day (08-10) and adding about 550k in one week. The timing matches the Vietnamese TikTok video (@hoangngocnamgamer, 08-12M views), the Spanish video (@yetisa_123,08-19) and VCGamers' coverage (08-19);
- After 9 it fell back to 1–20k a day, and from late October on it has held at about 13k a day.
- Charts (googleplay library chart_rank): on Indonesia's Personalization free chart it sat at #10-29 on 13 and climbed to #3 from 11-05; on the same category's grossing chart it stayed between #22 and #26. 11-06 It ranked #7 on Thailand's free chart, #15 in Vietnam, #30 in Malaysia and #59 in the Philippines, with Brazil and Argentina also showing.
- Monetization: in-app purchases of $2.49–$9.49, with ads (app_snap). VCGamers mentions a Premium subscription that removes ads and grants "unlimited energy." The most-liked negative review on Play complains about too many and too long ads, which suggests free users pay by watching rewarded ads to unlock more uses. Updates ship fast: 10-29 was 2.3.2,11-06, and by now it's up to 2.6.0.

The website zayon.site is available in 10 languages with an activation tutorial, and there's a dedicated TikTok account, @zayonresponse, whose top tutorial got 270k views. |
| Gaming Mode - Game Booster PRO(ZipoApps) | Android | 2019 | 42.6M installs, #17 on Indonesia's Personalization grossing chart (googleplay library) | An established "booster" focused on clearing memory and do-not-disturb. It has no ADB-based frame rate, graphics or touch adjustment, and no game-space-style UI. |

Red Corner actually uses ADB permissions to change system settings, and it has backing from respected developers in the community. |
| Network accelerators like GearUP and LagoFast | Android | 2022–2023 | 4.59M–67.8M | They sell network-acceleration subscriptions that address network-layer problems, which is a different layer entirely. |

- Gaming media (confirmed, small): VCGamers ran a feature write-up 08-19.
- Store search and category charts (inferred): ranking in the top 5 on Indonesia's Personalization free chart brings in steady organic exposure.
- Paid acquisition: no evidence found, unverified.
- APK sites and cracked versions (confirmed): APKPure, Uptodown, Softonic and MEmu all list it. Sites like apkmb post "Premium Unlocked" cracked versions, taking a share of paying users.
4. Why it took off
- Demand already existed, but there was no legitimate entry point: Free Fire players in Southeast Asia mostly use mid- and low-end phones. They want the game-space and FPS-display features of ROG and RedMagic, and they believe that tuning the settings makes headshots easier. Before this, you had to install Shizuku and AxManager plugins, then copy files with ZArchiver, which was a high barrier. Red Corner turned it into an app that installs in one tap from Play. The TikTok videos repeat the message "no shizuku/zarchiver, ORI dari playstore" over and over.
- The developer is already inside this scene: on GitHub they built AxManager (1,551 stars), a Shizuku fork, a KernelSU-Next fork and more. The technical background is real: they use ADB, wireless debugging and OTG to get the permissions needed to change system settings, and the release notes cover OTG activation, TCP/IP, ANGLE texture filtering and key mapping. Their own TikTok account gave them a ready audience, and the launch video alone passed 400k views.
- The content is naturally suited to TikTok: FPS, CPU and temperature numbers overlaid on the screen, a before-and-after comparison, plus the promise of "headshots." The material is visual and immediately clear. Players gain followers by posting it, so they post it on their own.
- Ships fast, chases trends: 9–November version numbers went from 2.3 to 2.6. After Zayon's "grafik MC" blew up, they shipped an ANGLE pixel/retro texture within a week (the dev admitted it was "FOMO").
- Rewarded ads plus membership, so revenue can keep up with growth: the app sits at #22–26 on the Personalization grossing chart. It runs on an energy system, so users have to watch ads to keep using features, and every install brings in a little revenue.
5. Differentiation and assessment
What sets it apart from similar tools: it uses ADB / Shizuku-level permissions to adjust graphics, frame rate and touch per game, not a fake "one-tap RAM cleaner" speed-up. It's a proper Play Store app, no root and no file-wrangling needed. The UI looks like a manufacturer's game space, and it's built by a well-known name in the scene. "A Shizuku-free game space on Play" is the direct reason it took off.
But the moat is shallow:
- Zayon has been on the store 10 days, 270k installs, and has already passed it in the Top Free and Top Grossing charts in Indonesia, forcing Red Corner to copy its features in turn;
- cracked versions are already online;
- the features rely on Android debug permissions and Play policy. If it gets labeled "deceptive speed-up" or pulled, the risk is huge.
6. How many people see it now
- Whispers in niche circles: the Southeast Asian (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines) Free Fire player scene on TikTok, plus Indonesian tinkerer circles (GitHub, Telegram, WhatsApp). English tech media, X, Reddit and HN haven't discussed it (x-radar: 0 mentions in the last 90 days), and revenue has never been disclosed.
- But people are already copying it: Zayon (2026-10-27 live) has copied it and overtaken it. There's also a pile of FPS Booster-style paid-acquisition tools fighting for the same keywords.
7. What others can learn
- Turn a "backdoor tool" from a tech circle (Shizuku, ADB, Magisk modules) into a proper Play app, then debut it on TikTok through a scene KOL or the developer personally;
- pick a game with lots of mid-to-low-end phones (Free Fire) and make the effect visible: data overlays on screen, before/after comparisons;
- monetize with energy + rewarded ads + membership;
- ride TikTok trends (grafik MC) and ship features quickly;
- small countries have low barriers in the Personalization category chart, so it's easy to crack the front rows and get sustained exposure.
8. Still unclear
- Whether it runs paid acquisition, or pays creators to make videos, is unverified (the ad libraries don't track it).
- Actual revenue is unknown; the membership share and ad eCPM are unknown too.
- Whether Zayon and Red Corner are related (same circle, same codebase?) is unclear.
- How much of the "more accurate headshots" claim is placebo: some reviews say the FPS display doesn't match in-game. That would hurt retention.
- Whether the 07-09 listing date was reset: the same developer had an earlier package, frb.axeron.gamecorner (Axeron: Game Corner), and its relationship to the current app is unclear.
