> Not organic: titles use the search term "wedding invitation" directly, local titles for Malaysia and Indonesia, placed in the low-barrier Art & Design category, plus cross-promotion from the company's main app or paid acquisition, reaching about 20k installs a week on Google Play during its launch period.

# A wedding invitation app got 46k installs in four weeks: learn from the playbook, don't copy it

**What it is** An Android wedding invitation maker: swap names and photos into templates, AI style transfer, RSVP and QR codes. It earns from ads and in-app purchases and is the "wedding edition" spin-off of its company's flagship invitation app.

**Why it took off** It didn't take off on its own: the title uses the search term "wedding invitation" directly, it gets localized titles for Malay and Indonesian markets, it sits in the low-barrier "Art & Design" category, and it adds traffic from the parent's flagship app or paid acquisition. That got it about 20k installs per week during its early Play launch window.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't copy the template app. If you want into this scene, build a web-based invitation for Southeast Asia (link, music, map, RSVP, wedding red-packet), charge RM15–30 per card, and get customers through vertical TikTok videos and WhatsApp orders.

Grade C: its volume comes from the parent's keyword matrix and its own cross-promotion, which followers can't replicate. The product has zero differentiation, the category leaders have 3M to 37M installs, and a new package has a hard time standing out. The transferable lesson is the playbook: split one category into multiple packages, use localized titles, and pick under-served categories. Few people know about it yet

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-10-09 · 11-07 installs 45,905

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

An app factory split the word "wedding" out of its invitation app, which has 14.8M installs, relisted it under a new package name, and got 46k installs in four weeks with zero ratings. Its curve looks good because the base is small and the charts it targets have low bars. This piece covers where its volume came from, why copying it isn't worth it, and who is actually collecting the wedding money right now.

### Nov 1: two kinds of invitations

In Nov 1, a Malaysian TikTok account called nienayana_ posted a video: an animated pink e-invitation, with a two-line caption: "Kad kahwin digital, price RM12, it's this one in the video, DM to order." By 11-06 the video had 12.6k views. She had posted several identical videos since September, priced between RM12 and RM17, roughly 3–4 USD (estimated).

The same day, the Google Play app "Wedding Invitation Maker: RSVP" went from 26,964 to 34,316 installs (Play installs, 10-31 to 11-01 combined over two days). Its Malaysia store listing switched to the Malay title "Kad Jemputan Kahwin: RSVP", and in the Indonesia store it's "Undangan Pernikahan: RSVP". The Southeast Asian wedding season is coming up (school holidays from 11 to December, inferred).

Both are doing the same thing: making a card for soon-to-be-weds that can be sent over WhatsApp. The difference is that one is a single person taking orders, and the other is one more package off an app factory's assembly line.

### What it is: the "wedding edition" split off a flagship

This app was listed in Oct 9. Its developer account is "Taka Group - Maxlabs Graphic Design Tools", the legal entity is a Hong Kong company, MaxLabs, and behind it is TAKA Mobile, a Vietnamese/Thai team that makes ad-plus-in-app-purchase utility apps. Apps under the same developer account total about 85M installs.

Features match every leading app in the category: 1,000+ templates, edit names, photos, colors, and fonts, a one-tap "AI style" to swap a whole visual look, RSVP, QR codes, and animated cards. Contains ads; in-app purchases are $9.99–19.99 each.

It's almost the same product as the company's flagship "Invitation Maker: Cards & RSVP" (listed in 2023, 14.8M installs, 7k new installs over 41 days). The first store screenshot gives it away: the app bar still says "Invitation & Card Design", and the two tabs below are Invitation and Greeting Cards. The flagship's name is also word-for-word the same as category leader Greetings Island's "Invitation Maker: Cards & RSVP".

### It grew fast because the base is small

| | Metric |
|---|---|
| Launched | 2026-10-09 |
| Total installs | 45,905 (11-06), store shows 10K+ |
| Last 7 days | +18,941 |
| Rating | 0 reviews |
| Recent updates | Nothing moved after 1.0.6,10-21 |

The curve comes in steps: before 10-21, about 1,400 per day (estimated by the third-party AppstoreSpy); from 10-24 to 10-27, 1,800–2,700 per day; 10-28 and 29 were nearly 0; from 10-30 to 11-03, 2,400–4,000 per day; from 11-04 it fell back to 900–1,700 per day. Interspersed are days of zero growth, and the 46k installs have not produced a single rating; real organic users usually leave some ratings. The shape looks more like batched paid acquisition against a budget or cross-promotion from the company's own apps than word of mouth (inferred; Meta and Google's public ad libraries show no ads for it, but not finding them doesn't mean none were run).

### Where the volume came from: search terms, under-served categories, the parent's big apps

**Search terms.** The title is the category term "Wedding Invitation Maker: RSVP" outright, the subtitle is "Design wedding invites, save the dates & RSVPs with AI styles & 1000+ templates", and the description repeats save the date, engagement invitation, and reception invitation. The Malay and Indonesian listings use local-language titles aimed at "kad kahwin" and "undangan pernikahan" searches. Someone searching "wedding invitation" sees one more Maxlabs result.

**Picking under-served categories.** The big wedding invitation apps crowd into the Events category, while this one sits in Art & Design. In small-category charts in countries like Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Mali, and Poland, a few thousand installs is enough to show up. Third-party chart sites show it at #47 in Kenya, #14 in Mali, and #9 in Poland's "New Free Apps".

**The parent's big app (inferred).** The flagship invitation app adds 40k per week, all from people who want to make invitations, so routing a bit of that traffic to the wedding package costs almost nothing. The same company's Emoji Battery, listed in September, shows the same staircase-plus-featuring curve.

What's missing: searching TikTok for "wedding invitation app" doesn't surface it, nobody has mentioned it on X in the past 30 days, and there is no press coverage. Few people know about it, but that doesn't mean there's an opening; it has no product advantage that can be copied.

### Who it's competing with: a category that starts at 30 million installs

| Product | Installs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Invitation Maker(Greetings Island) | 37.2M | Events Top Grossing #1 in US, UK, Germany, and Australia |
| Invitation maker & Card Design | 17.9M | General invitations |
| Same company's flagship Invitation Maker | 14.8M | The parent app of this one |
| Wedding Invitation Card Maker(Galaxy studio apps) | 5.32M | Same name, same features, +72k in 7 days, nearly 4× this app |
| All Invitation Card Maker(DevBay) | 5.17M | Launched 2025-05 ago, Top Grossing in multiple stores 4–6 |
| DOSA / Celebrare wedding invitations | 3.07M / 2.81M | Focused on Indian wedding customs |
| Indoinvite | 620k | Indonesian e-invitations |

(Google Play installs, 11-06)

There's also a batch of same-type new releases that popped up together in the second half of this year: Mega Ludo's "Invitation Card Maker, RSVP" from September, "AI Invitations" from October, and more. On the web there are free wedding templates from Canva and Adobe Express, Partiful and Luma doing RSVPs for events in North America, and wedding platforms like The Knot and Joy that include invitations.

Third-party AppGazers estimates this developer account's 12 apps together make only $4.8K–67.3K a month in Play in-app purchases, with the flagship invitation app under $5K a month. Ads are the main revenue (inferred). If an invitation app with 14.8M installs only makes this much from IAP, a new package will get even less.

### The same brides, paying someone else

Back to that opening video. Search "kad kahwin digital" (11-06) on TikTok and nearly every result is an individual or small studio selling finished wedding invites: thebrideinvites posts "digital invitations for 2027-year brides, just RM10" (48k views), byclae lists RM20 and asks you to DM on WhatsApp, and by.memoreen posted an invite video tagged #RSVPkadkahwin on 10-21 that has reached 349k views as of 11-06. Others teach you to build a link-based e-invite with Canva Sites, no coding needed.

Indonesia is even busier, and the platforms already exist: Gubah.id advertises "your first e-invitation publishes free" (26k views), levidio launched "playable game-style invitations," and there are web invitations with video, and invitations with "wedding gift" payment collection. In the English-speaking market, web invitations like wding, sponsalia and Our Yes Day keep putting out creator-style videos pushing "free" and "done in 10 minutes."

Two things are clear. First, demand for e-invitations in Southeast Asia is real, and people are willing to pay, but the price is RM10–20 per piece, for "someone makes it for me, it looks good, and I can collect RSVPs through a link." Second, this money now flows to designers and web invitations, not to template apps in the store.

### If it were you

**C: Worth learning from, but don't copy it.** This app's installs come from the parent company's keyword matrix and its own large accounts driving traffic. Anyone following this can't get that, and nothing in the product is something the category doesn't already have.

**Who it suits:** small teams that already run a utility app and want to learn how to split one category into several apps. The approach can be copied directly: once the main app validates the category, spin off new apps by occasion (weddings, birthdays, baby showers, engagements), put the occasion word in the title, write separate local titles for markets like Malay and Indonesian, and file the app in the category with less competition.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie developers who want to build a wedding invitation app from scratch and get it onto Play. The leaders have 3M to 37M installs, a same-named wedding-only app gets 50k more installs a week, and ad monetization pays less per user. A new release with no traffic source sinks.

**If you must enter this niche, how:** don't build a template app, build web invitations for Southeast Asia: one link that opens with music, a map, a countdown, RSVP and a "wedding gift" section, with templates based on Malay and Indonesian customs (two events, akad and sanding, and a white-themed ijab qabul). Charge per card, RM15–30 or Rp 50k–150k per card, not a subscription.

**How to get customers:** do what the individual designers on TikTok do: shoot one vertical video per template, state the price clearly in the caption, and take orders via WhatsApp. Cross-promote with wedding photographers, planners, and sellers of hantaran gift trays. Store search is not the main battleground for this niche.

**When to start early:** Malaysian wedding season peaks around the year-end school holidays, and brides order invitations one to two months ahead, so you need viewable templates and videos by mid-November. Miss that and you wait for the wave after Hari Raya in the first half of next year (inferred).

**What would show you're wrong:** ① If this app passes 500k installs by late December and starts getting a real volume of reviews, that means standalone wedding apps can grow in the store, and this piece underrated that path. ② If platforms like Indonesia's Gubah make "free publishing" the default, and free platforms show up in the Malay market too, then per-card web invitation pricing gets undercut, and only design services are left as an opportunity.

## Wedding Invitation Maker: RSVP (hk.maxlabs.wedding.invitation.maker) research report

Research date: 2026-11-06. Channel: Google Play. Developer account: Taka Group - Maxlabs Graphic Design Tools (Play developer id 8519217599705066815; legal entity MaxLabs Company Limited, maxlabs.hk, a Hong Kong shell company, run by the Vietnam/Thailand TAKA Mobile team; see the same developer's other report play_hk.maxlabs.emoji.battery.md).

### Bottom line

It didn't really "break out". The app factory Taka/Maxlabs split the "wedding" keyword off its flagship "Invitation Maker: Cards & RSVP", which already has 14.8M installs, and launched it as a new app. During Play's new-app promotion window, it got about 20k installs a week through ASO and the parent's distribution. The numbers look fast mostly because the base is small: 45.9k installs and 0 ratings. It also charted on Saudi Arabia's free Art & Design chart, where the bar is low (#29 there with only 1,648 installs), so the ranking doesn't show how strong it is.

### 1. Data

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Launched | 2026-10-09 | googleplay library app.released |
| Total installs | 45,905 (11-06), tier 10K+ | googleplay library app_snap |
| 7-day gain | +18,941 | Google Play library app_profile |
| Rating | 0 ratings (Play doesn't show a score; AppBrain shows 0.0 / 0) | googleplay library; appbrain.com |
| Monetization | Contains ads + in-app purchases $9.99–19.99 | Play listing page |
| Version | No updates since 1.0.6,10-21 | googleplay library |

Curve since launch (before 10-21 the numbers are AppstoreSpy estimates; after that, our own observations):

- 10-09 to 10-21: cumulative reaches 17,324, about 1,400/day (AppstoreSpy estimate)

- 10-24 to 10-27: 1,800–2,700 per day; 10-28/29 almost 0

- 10-30 to 11-03: 2,400–4,000 per day (11-01 +7,352,11-03 +8,063, both two-day totals)

- 11-04 to 11-06: 900–1,700 per day, trending down

Growth comes in segments with days near 0 in between (10-22/23, 10-28/29), not the steady accumulation you'd see from word of mouth. It looks more like batched ad buys or cross-promotion, scaling with budget. The specific cause hasn't been verified.

Charts (googleplay library chart_rank): only on the Art & Design free chart.

- Saudi Arabia (sa): since 10-29 it has stayed at #29–48, 11-06 at #48;

- Nigeria (ng): #10-29 on 34, then dropped to 194;

- UAE (ae) 77→139, South Africa (za) 87→170, India (in) around 157, Malaysia (my) and Indonesia (id) at 130–190, and it fell off the id chart from 11-02.

- Third-party data also shows it charting in small countries: #47 on Similarweb's Kenya A&D chart, #14 on Appfigures' Mali A&D chart, #9 on AppBrain's Poland "Top New Free Art & Design" chart.

**Chart bar** : 11-06 Saudi Arabia's A&D free chart #29, ColorNova, has only 1,648 installs globally; #50, AI Couple, also has only 12,503 (googleplay library v_chart). So "#48 in Saudi Arabia" only shows that the category chart there has a low bar, not that the product is strong.

**Localized titles** : the Malay store uses "Kad Jemputan Kahwin: RSVP" and the Indonesian store uses "Undangan Pernikahan: RSVP" (googleplay library, chart_rank.title). Other stores use English. The team clearly did local-keyword ASO for the Southeast Asian Muslim wedding market. No localized title in the Arabic store.

### 2. Competitors

**Same developer**

- "Invitation Maker: Cards & RSVP" (com.azmobile.card.design.invitation.maker): listed 2023-07-26, 14,826,973 installs, 7 days +41,111; charted #32–34 on the A&D Top Grossing chart across 20 stores (this is one global aggregate chart, not 20 separate markets); #42–44 on the Top Free charts in Mexico and Argentina.
    - The name is word-for-word the same as Greetings Island's top product. It's riding their name.
    - The app is essentially a standalone "wedding" package split out of the parent's general app. The feature copy (templates, RSVP, QR codes, AI styles) is nearly identical.

- On iOS, Maxlabs has "Invitation Maker - Invites4U" (id6737880009,2024-11-15 live, only 28 ratings in the US store, per iTunes lookup). Its iOS presence is weak.

| Indoinvite | Funware | 2023-12 | 620k | Indonesian digital invitations (undangan digital) |

**Web tools and big players**

- Canva and Adobe Express both have free wedding invitation template pages (canva.com/create/wedding-invitations, adobe.com/express/create/invitation/wedding).

- Paperless Post, Zazzle (Hobnob) and Greetings Island's web version are also in the space.

**A new wave of web-invitation startups on TikTok** (TikHub search "wedding invitation app", 11-04–11-06): wding.co / wding.vip (free-first), invitedyou.app, sponsalia.app, kindlyreply.uk, pixerinvite and others. They post creator-style short videos almost daily, pitching "interactive web invitations + one-tap RSVP". Maxlabs isn't among them.

**Verdict** : this category is very crowded. Top players sit between 3M and 37M installs. The namesake "Wedding Invitation Card Maker" (Galaxy studio apps) has 7 days +72k, nearly 4x this one. There's no clear feature differentiation.

### 3. Where users come from

1. **Store search / ASO (confirmed)**
    - The title uses the category keyword "Wedding Invitation Maker: RSVP". The subtitle is "Design wedding invites, save the dates & RSVPs with AI styles & 1000+ templates".
    - The description repeats long-tail terms like wedding invitation, save the date, RSVP, engagement invitation and reception invitation.
    - The Malay and Indonesian stores get localized titles (Kad Jemputan Kahwin, Undangan Pernikahan).
    - It's filed under Art & Design rather than Events, where the big wedding apps crowd together. That makes it easier to chart on the smaller countries' A&D charts.

2. **Play new-app exposure (confirming it's on the new-releases chart)** : AppBrain Poland "Top New Free Art & Design" #9, which suggests it's riding the new-release traffic of its first few weeks.

3. **Cross-promotion or traffic exchange within the parent (inferred, not verified)**
    - The same account's flagship Invitation Maker adds about 40k a week. Its users are people who actually want to make invitations.
    - Taka/Maxlabs as a whole is about 145M installs in the library, an app factory running ads plus in-app purchases.
    - The same playbook was used on 2026-09's Emoji Battery: the curve is also step-changes plus platform pushes.

4. **Paid acquisition (inferred, not verified)**
    - Growth comes in segments with zero-growth days in between. 46k installs with 0 ratings (real organic users usually leave some reviews). These look like paid or exchanged traffic.
    - But neither the Meta Ad Library nor the Google Ads library tracked a Maxlabs/Taka package name or advertiser. The ad libraries only cover products on the list, so not finding ads doesn't mean there were none.

5. **Creators and press (checked, nothing found)** : TikTok search results are all web-invitation startups. On X (x-radar, last 30 days), searches for "maxlabs" and "wedding invitation maker" each returned 0 posts. No press coverage. Online there are only store mirrors and chart pages (AppBrain, APKPure, Similarweb, Appfigures).

### 4. Why it got traction (at this scale)

- **Demand is year-round** : wedding invitations are a must-have with seasonality on top. The school holidays in Southeast Asia (11–December) are peak wedding season in Malaysia and Indonesia. The seasonality is inferred; I haven't verified it against this app's data.

- **The parent has already validated the category** : the flagship invitation app has 14.8M installs and charts #32–34 across 20 stores on the A&D Top Grossing aggregate. Greetings Island is #1 on the Events Top Grossing chart in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. Invitation apps make money from $9.99–19.99 in-app purchases and ads.

- **Keyword splitting and multi-package coverage** : carving "wedding invitations" out of generic invitation apps gives each one its own package, so someone searching "wedding invitation" sees one more Maxlabs result. It's cheap to build, since the templates and code can be reused from the flagship.

- **Pick low-barrier charts and markets** : file under A&D rather than Events, and target low-cost traffic markets like Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, the UAE and Malaysia/Indonesia. The Saudi A&D chart needs only a few thousand installs to chart.

### 5. Differentiation

Almost nothing:

- Templates, custom names and photos, RSVP, QR codes and animated invitations are standard across the whole top tier;

- "AI Magic Style" (keeping the text and layout while changing the visual style) is a minor selling point, but the Maxlabs flagship and other AI invitation apps offer similar features;

- The only real difference is that it's "wedding only", plus localized titles for Malay and Indonesian.

"Wedding only" is an ASO differentiator, not a product differentiator. It gets its traffic from keywords and parent-level distribution, not from the product itself.

### 6. Is anyone copying it, and how well known is it

- **Awareness** : few people know about it yet. No public revenue, and no press or X discussion. A third-party estimate from AppGazers puts the combined Play in-app purchases for the 'Graphic Design Tools' account at $4.8K–$67.3K per month across 12 apps, with the flagship invitation app under $5K per month (appgazers.com/reports/developers/android-8519217599705066815). Ads are probably the main income.

- **Followers** : it's a follower itself (wedding invitations already have dedicated apps from Galaxy studio, DOSA, Celebrare, EverestSol and others). In the second half of 2026 a batch of similar new packages also launched: Mega Ludo (09-09), ETOS Way (06-17), Golden Associate "AI Invitations" (10-02), ZAW "AI Invitation Maker" (04-28). I haven't seen anyone specifically copying it afterward.

### 7. What to borrow

- The app factory's "keyword splitting": once a main app validates a category, new packages are split out by occasion (weddings, birthdays, baby showers and so on), with the occasion keyword in the title. Smaller-language markets get localized titles (Malay Kad Jemputan Kahwin, Indonesian Undangan Pernikahan).

- Category arbitrage: the same function goes into a less competitive category (A&D instead of Events), which makes it easier to appear on the smaller countries' category charts.

- Heads up: the Play small-country category charts have a very low bar. In Saudi Arabia's A&D category, the top 50 may need only a few thousand to ten-odd thousand installs, so when you see "charted," check the bar first. 0 rating plus a step-shaped curve basically means paid user acquisition or traffic swapping, not word of mouth.

- The area with real opportunity may be the batch of web invitations on TikTok (wding, invitedyou, sponsalia): interactive web pages + one-tap RSVP + creator short videos. That's a different playbook from the template factories on Play.

### 8. Still unclear

- The source of the segmented growth (paid ads, flagship cross-promotion, or Play new-release placement) is unverified. The ad libraries didn't track it.

- Why the 0 rating: no review prompt was shown, and the user quality is low.

- Why Saudi Arabia has consistently had the best ranking: possibly ad targeting, or simply that its chart has the lowest threshold.

- In-app purchase and ad revenue; retention (no review sample).

- Impact of Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern wedding season on the curve.
