How a "lazy workout" app got 340K installs: the fifth copy from a small Philippine app farm
What it is A free, no-paywall home fat-loss workout app for women. It makes money from dense ads, mostly in the US and Brazil.
Why it took off The developer remade a topic already proven at 5M installs as a women's version, stuffed the package name with keywords, and in weeks 2–3 after launch pushed about 150K installs in a burst to reach the category charts, then added another push a few weeks later.
CHow you could follow it Don't copy this topic, copy the structure: find a proven keyword that few factories are chasing at the same time, split it into audience, scenario and duration versions across low-acquisition-cost stores, push hard for the first two weeks to climb the charts, then add pulses as ad payback allows.

A small developer called SWIFTFLYERS took its "lazy workout" app, which had already reached 5M installs, and relaunched a women's version. In 3 months it got 340K installs with no subscription revenue at all, relying only on ads. Nothing about the product is new. It is a playbook: pick a validated keyword, stuff the package name with keywords, push hard for the first two weeks after launch, then add another push every few weeks. Below we explain how the playbook works, where the money comes from, why it ranks last among the new releases in its batch, and whether you should follow it.
"Every button tap brings another ad"
In 2026 Sep 10, a US user named Cassidy Rae gave Lazy Workouts for Women one star on Google Play: "First time opening it, I declined the notifications three times and was immediately forced to watch several ads. I was bombarded with ads before I had tapped anything. Every button tap, another ad." The review was marked helpful by 10 people. The developer replied the same day: "We're sorry the ads inconvenienced you, we'll improve this in the future."
Two days later, another user wrote: "An ad suddenly pops up in the middle of every quiz question." The developer replied with the same text.
On the same page, a South African user wrote from the other side in Oct 13: "I can do it, my 78-year-old friend can too, and we now work out together every morning." The developer replied: "If you enjoy our app, we hope you'll give us a five-star rating."
These three reviews are the whole app in miniature: moves simple enough for older people to follow, ads dense enough to make people swear, and a rating prompt that pushes the score up to 4.8 (Google Play, 11-06,510 ratings).
What it is
A home fat-loss app for women: body-part training (abs, legs, glutes), animated and video demonstrations, difficulty levels, daily reminders, no equipment needed. The last line of the store description reads "√ No locked features": no paywall, no in-app purchases, and the page only labels it "contains ads". The Brazilian store name is localized as "Treinos Leves para Mulheres" (light workouts for women).
Launched in 2026 Aug 7; by Nov 6 it had 340,256 total installs, with 7 new in the last 11,592 days (Google Play install count, 11-06). On Nov 6 it ranked #68 on the Brazil Health & Fitness free chart; on the US chart it was still at #29 in Oct 67 and dropped off from Nov 2.
Who made it: a matrix of 6 apps
SWIFTFLYERS lists an address in Teresa, Philippines on its store page, and its website is appsdevlab.com. It has 6 apps with about 10.7M installs combined (AndroidRank, November), nearly all variations on the same topic:
| App | Installs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lazy exercise at home | 5M+ | The first one that worked: "lazy exercise in bed / on a chair / on the floor" |
| Home Workout for Women | 5M+ | Women's version |
| 5Min: Weight Loss Workout | 500K+ | 5-minute version |
| Lazy Workouts for Women | 100K+ | This app: "lazy" × "women" |
| Men Workout at Home | 50K+ | Men's version |
| Easy Fat Burn - Lose Weight | 10K+ | Chair yoga / Pilates version |
All 6 apps share one privacy policy page and one ad monetization setup: appsdevlab.com's ads.txt lists AdMob, Meta Audience Network and Bigo, plus a long list of programmatic resellers. This is a classic ad-heavy monetization network of sites. One lead suggests the domain was registered from late 2025 to early 2026 to a Hong Kong health tools app company, but who is actually behind it is unverified.
One detail: of the 6 apps, only this one's package name lacks the swiftflyers. prefix, and is written as homeworkout.lazy.weight.loss.women.athome, a string of pure keywords. Whether that's for search or migrated from another account, there's no way to tell.
Where the users come from: one big push, then another push every few weeks
Laying out the install curve since launch (third-party estimates; after 10-29 it's the actual Google Play install count), the shape is clear:
| Date | Total installs | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| 08-16 | About 5,000 | Day 9 after launch, almost no traffic |
| 08-23 → 08-29 | 27k → 137k | Up 110K in a week, 1.1–23K per day |
| 09-01 | About 164k | Big push ends |
| 09-10 | About 188k | +15K in a single day, then a push |
| 10-04, 10-08, 10-21 | — | One or two days each, 1.2–15K per day per burst |
| 11-06 | 340,256 | Now about 1,000–2,000 per day |
Between pulses, daily gains are often only a few dozen (in Oct 5 to 7, roughly 18–137 per day, estimated). In other words, it has almost no steady organic traffic; its users are pushed in. 510 ratings account for only 0.15% of installs, and its sister apps show 0.17–0.18%, the same shape.
There's no direct evidence of which platform the push runs on. Meta's ad library shows no advertisers pointing to these apps. For Play apps that monetize only through ads, the most common setup is Google App Campaigns (UAC), or swapping interstitial placements with sister apps that already have 10M users (inferred). Searching its English and Portuguese names on TikTok returns 0 results each, and X returns 30 posts over 0 days. There is no content marketing at all.
The rest comes from search: the package name, title and description are all lazy, weight loss, women, at home, no equipment. During the weeks it climbed the category charts, chart exposure also brought in some organic traffic.
Where the money comes from: ads only
There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases; all revenue comes from interstitials and rewarded videos. So the experience the opening review describes is not a bug but the business model: every click is an ad impression opportunity. Bought traffic from Brazil and the US mix pays back through ad revenue; when it pays back, they push again, and when it doesn't, they stop. The pulse every few weeks looks like a decision about whether to add traffic based on payback (inferred).
One Portuguese review doesn't fit this account: in Sep 2, Brazilian user Márcia Santos wrote, "I paid for 2 months, now the app won't open and I can't find where to stop paying." But the store page and Google Play data both show no in-app purchases, so the user may have confused it with another app; unverified. The "$4.99/month, $19.99/year" subscription prices circulating online belong to a different product with the same name, Lazy Workout (Tropic Innovation), not this one.
Who it's competing with: four factories chasing the same keyword in the same month
"Lazy / women / home fat-loss" is one of the most crowded categories on Google Play. The veteran Leap Fitness apps (Home Workout - No Equipment at 300M installs, Lose Weight App for Women at 130M) hold the search slots. Subscription-driven JustFit (12.5M installs, #55 on the US Health & Fitness Top Grossing chart) and LazyFit (7.88M) spent three years teaching the phrase "lazy workout" through TikTok creators.
What's more telling are the new releases in the same batch. In August, at least four companies in Brazil launched nearly identical things at once (Google Play, 11-06):
| App | Launched | Total installs | past 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Treino em Casa para Mulheres(PT POLEWALI DIGITAL) | 08-06 | 966k | +220K, #1 on Brazil's Health & Fitness free chart |
| Treino de Cadeira em Casa(BLUEBASE) | 08-13 | 717k | +92k |
| Yolo Fitness: Lazy Workout(STARVIA) | 08-27 | 670k | +89k |
| Lazy Workouts for Women(SWIFTFLYERS) | 08-07 | 340k | +12k |
| Home Workout: Lazy Fitness(OMG! Bros) | 10-10 | 37k | +32k |
In scale it ranks last in this batch, with a weekly gain about one-nineteenth of the leader's. Either it spent the least, or its ad revenue had the worst payback. Nobody is deliberately copying it; everyone is chasing the same wave of interest, and the others are chasing it harder.
Why it could take off
- Ready-made topic: its own Lazy exercise at home already proved the keyword could reach 5M, and the demand for "lazy workout" searches was educated into existence by subscription competitors' paid marketing.
- Copied template: the fifth app on the same topic, with privacy page, animation assets and ad stack all reused, so the marginal cost of each new one is low.
- Concentrated push in the first two weeks: about 10K installs in 150 days, enough to reach the US and Brazil category charts, and a rating prompt that built up a 4.8 score.
- Free, no locked features: attractive in a niche full of subscription paywalls, and appealing in a market like Brazil with low willingness to pay; but the dense ads cancel out much of that.
Product differentiation: none. Features are the same as Leap Fitness from a decade ago.
If it were you
One-line verdict: this is a paid acquisition business, not a product business. The playbook holds up, but the topic is already saturated by several factories, and this app is the worst performer among them. Learn the structure, not a "lazy women's fitness" app.
Who it suits: small teams that already run one or two ad-monetized apps, buy Google App Campaigns, and can work out per-install cost against ad revenue. You don't need coding skill so much as a reusable template and someone who can read payback data.
Who it doesn't suit: indie developers who haven't bought traffic and are counting on organic store installs (this app gets only dozens of organic installs a day between pulses); anyone wanting subscription revenue on this topic (JustFit and LazyFit have already saturated TikTok creator marketing); anyone only targeting English and Portuguese (four of the batch are in Brazil, and Leap Fitness holds the English keyword slots).
How to do it: don't copy the topic, copy the structure. Find a keyword that you or someone else has already validated to a million installs but that three or four factories aren't yet chasing at the same time. Split it into "audience versions × scenario versions × duration versions" (women / men / seniors, in bed / on a chair / in the office, 5 minutes / 7 days), and localize each version into one or two low-paying, low-acquisition-cost stores. Build the product as usual, without locking features, but don't copy its habit of packing interstitials into every tap; one-star reviews like the opening one drag conversion down directly.
How to acquire users: after launch, push hard for the first two weeks, aiming to reach the top 100 of the category free chart and collect a rating of 4.5 or higher. After that, look at ad revenue per user: if it pays back, add a pulse every few weeks; if not, stop. Existing apps in your matrix can send traffic to new releases via interstitial placements, a source of traffic newcomers lack but matrix players get for free.
When to move: there's no fixed window; topics like this see new releases all year. But once more than three or four apps launch on the same keyword, latecomers are just bidding up prices for the earlier ones. Before starting, search the keyword you plan to use on Google Play and see how many apps launched in the last 90 days and how fast each is gaining.
Signs you've misread it: (1) if this batch of same-period new releases (POLEWALI, BLUEBASE, STARVIA) still gains tens of thousands a week two months later, the keyword pool is bigger than it looks and there's room to follow; (2) conversely, if SWIFTFLYERS stops adding traffic, this app's daily gains flatten at a few dozen, and it then launches a seventh same-topic app, that shows the playbook doesn't pay back on a single app and only works by spreading costs across the matrix. That can't be run by one person alone.

Why Lazy Workouts for Women (SWIFTFLYERS) managed to take off
Google Play package name homeworkout.lazy.weight.loss.women.athome, Brazil name "Treinos Leves para Mulheres". Research date 2026-11-06.
Bottom line
It's a product from a small portfolio developer (SWIFTFLYERS, 6 apps, roughly 10.7M installs combined), the 4nd and 5rd products built from their in-house template. That template has already worked on "Lazy exercise at home" and "Home Workout for Women" (5M+ each). After launch, volume concentrated over weeks 2–3, reaching about 150K installs around day 10, then declined steadily to roughly 1,500 a day now. The product itself has no differentiation. It is also not a subscription app: no in-app purchases, the store page says "No locked features", and it monetizes only through ads, contrary to what the data card says. It worked because of "a topic chosen for the category + keyword-stuffed package name and title + a one-time paid acquisition or incentivized install push at launch." The current numbers are the tail end of that wave.

| Date | Cumulative | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 08-16 | 5,071 | Day 9 since launch |
| 08-22 | 15,395 | |
| 08-23 → 08-29 | 26,777 → 136,802 | Up 110K in a week, 1.1–23K daily |
| 09-01 | 163,949 | Volume surge ends |
| 09-10 | 187,911 | Single-day +14.6K, followed by a small top-up |
| 10-04, 10-08, 10-21 | Single-day +1.2–15K each time | A pulse every few weeks |
| 10-27 | 328,650 | |
| 11-06 | 340,256 | Now about 1,000–2,000 per day |
The curve's shape: a one-time push in the first week after launch, then top-ups in pulses, with daily installs between pulses often only in the dozens (e.g., 10-05 to 10-07 per day at 18–137). This suggests no stable organic traffic; nearly all volume was pushed. The data card's "single-day +4K/+5K jumps" are totals our database computes from observations taken every two or three days, not actual single-day pulses.
2. Developer: the SWIFTFLYERS portfolio
The 2026-11 apps listed on the Play developer page and AndroidRank (6):
| App | Bundle ID | Installs | Score | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lazy exercise at home (flagship) | swiftflyers.homeworkout.chair.floor.bed.exercise.forlazy | 5M+ | 9,242 | 3.8 |
| Home Workout for Women | swiftflyers.weightloss.workout.athome | 5M+ | 8,404 | 4.2 |
| 5Min: Weight Loss Workout | swiftflyers.plan.dailyweightloss | 500K+ | 939 | 4.3 |
| Lazy Workouts for Women (this app) | homeworkout.lazy.weight.loss.women.athome | 100K+ | 509 | 4.7 |
| Men Workout at Home | swiftflyers.formen.workout.homeworkout.noequipment | 50K+ | 86 | 4.2 |
| Easy Fat Burn - Lose Weight | swiftflyers.yoga.pilates.chairyoga.easyyoga | 10K+ | 86 | 4.3 |
- Sources: play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=SWIFTFLYERS and www.androidrank.org/developer?id=SWIFTFLYERS (10,660,000 installs combined, active since 2024, same basis as AppBrain).
- 6 apps share one privacy policy page (sites.google.com/view/lazy-exercise). The website is appsdevlab.com, with contact emails [email protected] and [email protected]. The store page address is in the Philippines (San Roque, Teresa, phone +63, from a search snippet of the Play Zulu-language page).
- Only this app's package name lacks the
swiftflyers.prefix; the other 5 all have it. It may have been moved over from a different account or a purchased package name, or simply to add more keywords to the package name. Unverified. - Monetization stack: appsdevlab.com/app-ads.txt lists Meta Audience Network, AdMob, and Bigo, plus a long list of resellers such as Pubmatic, Rubicon, and Criteo. That's a standard heavy-ads monetization setup. Yandex's sellers.json now lists this domain under an individual's name in Arabic. Well-known.dev records show that between 2025-10 and 2026-02 this domain was tied to Appsky Hong Kong Limited (a Hong Kong utility app company whose website says it has 100 people and makes health tools such as blood pressure, sleep, and step-counting apps). So the actual operator behind SWIFTFLYERS may be connected to Appsky, unverified.
- The rating-to-install ratio of sister apps is also at 0.17–0.18%, matching this one, which suggests the same playbook.
3. Competitors (doing the same thing)
"Lazy / bed / chair home workouts for women's fat loss" is one of the most crowded categories on Play:
| Competitors | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JustFit - Lazy Workout(ENERJOY) | Android / iOS | 2022-10 | 12.5M installs, #55 on the US Health & Fitness Top Grossing chart | Subscription model, with heavy TikTok creator promotion (lots of #justfitapp sales videos). This app is ads-only, with no subscription. |
| LazyFit: Chair Yoga & Pilates(Next Vision) | Android / iOS | 2022-04 | 7.88M installs, #19 on the German Top Grossing chart | Subscription model at a high price. This app is free. |
| Home Workout - No Equipment / Lose Weight App for Women(Leap Fitness) | Android | 2017–2019 | 300M / 130M installs | Established giant holding the ASO keyword positions. This app is a small-scale knockoff of the category. |
| Treino em Casa para Mulheres / Home Workout for Women(PT POLEWALI DIGITAL) | Android | 2026-08-06 (one day before this app) | 966K installs, +220K a week, #1 on the Brazil Health & Fitness Top Free chart | Same period, same topic, but its volume is an order of magnitude bigger than this app's, with weekly growth 19× larger |
| Treino de Cadeira em Casa / Chair Workout at Home(BLUEBASE) | Android | 2026-08-13 | 717K installs, +92K a week, #11 in Brazil | Same period, same topic (chairs) |
| Yolo Fitness: Lazy Workout(STARVIA) | Android | 2026-08-27 | 670K installs, +89K a week, #13 in Brazil | Same period, same topic. Meta paid acquisition targeting Latin America |
| Home Workout: Lazy Fitness(OMG! Bros) | Android | 2026-10-10 | 37k installs, +32k this week | A new app from the same factory |
| EasyFit - Lazy Workout(Catch Applications) | Android | 2024-05 | 240k installs, barely growing. | An older app with the same name |
| Lazy Workout lean & fitness / Bed Workout(Tropic Innovation) | iOS / Android | Earlier | Not verified | $4.99/mo and $19.99/yr subscription prices belong to this other app (tropicinnovation.com/lazy-workout); the data card mistakenly attributed them to this one |
| SWIFTFLYERS' own Lazy exercise at home | Android | 2024 | 5M+ | An older version of the same topic |
| Apple Fitness+, Google Fit training content | Big-company features | — | Big | Doesn't use the "lazy" positioning |
Data sources: googleplay library app_profile / v_chart (11-06); swade.app/guides/lazy-workout-app (11-03), which also lists SWIFTFLYERS' Lazy exercise at home among its "six lazy fitness apps".
Conclusion: lots of competitors, and this app is at the bottom in scale among same-period launches. In August, several "women's / lazy / chair home workout" apps launched in the Brazil store at once (POLEWALI 08-06, SWIFTFLYERS 08-07, BLUEBASE 08-13, STARVIA 08-27), suggesting several factories chasing the same keyword and the same market.
4. Growth tactics: where users come from
| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Concentrated paid acquisition / incentivized installs at launch | AppstoreSpy estimates 08-23 to 08-29 at 1.1–23k installs per day; then every few weeks come one or two day pulses (09-10, 10-04, 10-08, 10-21), with only dozens of installs per day between them; ratings are just 0.15% of installs. This is the typical shape of paid or incentivized traffic. | The shape is confirmed; the platform it was bought on is not. |
| Meta ads | Our metaads library (from 11-01) has no advertiser landing on swiftflyers.* or this package name. The library only tracks Pages that appeared on the first screen of keyword searches, so not finding it there proves nothing. | Unconfirmed |
| Google ads (UAC) | It is not on the googleads library's tracking list, so we can't check. For a Play app that earns only from ads, UAC is the most common form of paid acquisition. | Unconfirmed |
| Store search / ASO | Package name, title and description are all keywords: lazy, weight loss, women, at home, no equipment. The Brazil store title is localized as "Treinos Leves para Mulheres". It reached #70 in the US Health & Fitness Top Free chart and #60 in Brazil, and chart exposure brings some organic installs. | Partly confirmed |
| Cross-promotion inside the portfolio | 6 apps have store pages that link to each other under "More by SWIFTFLYERS". Sister apps have 10M cumulative users, so they could use interstitial placements to push new launches (common in the industry, no direct evidence seen). | Unconfirmed |
| Prompted reviews | 5 stars, 89% of ratings are five stars, but text reviews mostly complain "a pop-up on every tap". Developer replies include "we hope you'll give us five stars", which suggests an in-app rating prompt. | Partly confirmed |
| TikTok / X / Reddit / press | On TikTok, searches for "lazy workouts for women" and "treinos leves para mulheres" each return 0 results. X corpus: 0 posts in 30 days. Similar content is all creator promos for JustFit, BetterMe, Ditto and LazyShape. | Confirmed none |
Where the money comes from: ads only. AdMob, Meta Audience Network and Bigo plus a string of header bidding resellers; interstitials and rewarded videos are dense. A 1-star review says "I'm forced to watch several ads as soon as I open it, and every tap on a button brings another"; the developer replied "We rely on ad revenue". The bought traffic is mixed traffic from places like Brazil and the US, and it pays back through ad eCPM. One Brazilian review says "I paid for two months, now it won't open and I can't find how to cancel", but the store page and our library both show no in-app purchases. The user may have confused it with another app, or an older version may have had a subscription. Unverified.
5. Why it took off
- The topic was already proven: "Lazy workout" has been educated by JustFit and LazyFit through TikTok creators for 3 years, and search demand is large (swade.app 11-03 record: Google autocomplete for "lazy workout app" suggests free, reviews, in bed). SWIFTFLYERS' own Lazy exercise at home has already shown this term can reach 5M.
- Template copying: the same developer's Nth app reuses the same privacy page, animation assets and ad stack, so the marginal cost of building one more is very low.
- One-time push at launch: about 150k installs over 10 days pushed it into the US and Brazil Health & Fitness Top Free charts, while building up a high rating (4.7, with a rating prompt used to ask for reviews at launch).
- Free, no paywall: in a niche full of subscription walls, "No locked features" appeals to low-willingness-to-pay markets like Brazil and helps retention. But the heavy ads offset part of that.
6. Differentiation
Almost none. The features (body-part training, animated demos, difficulty levels, reminders) are the same as older products like Leap Fitness. The only positioning difference is "free + ads" versus subscription competitors (JustFit, LazyFit), but Leap Fitness, POLEWALI, BLUEBASE and STARVIA are also free + ads. So differentiation isn't why it took off. It grew because of its distribution playbook (paid install pulses plus ASO) and the developer's existing portfolio experience. Meanwhile, competitors on the same topic in the same period grew 8–19 times faster, suggesting it spent the least in this wave, or had the worst payback.
7. Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: few people know about it. No public revenue, no media or X coverage, 0 TikTok posts; it only shows up on auto-aggregated pages like AppBrain, CNET Download and APK sites.
- Copycats: no one specifically copying it has been seen. New apps on the same topic in the same period (POLEWALI, BLUEBASE, STARVIA, OMG! Bros) are riding the whole "lazy / women's home workout" trend rather than following this one, and they are bigger.
8. What to borrow
- The portfolio play of "validated topic × keyword package name × translate and localize across stores × ad monetization": once one hits (5M), split the same term into women's, men's, 5-minute and chair versions and keep shipping.
- Concentrate a push in the first days of launch to break into category charts and build a high rating, then add short pulses every few weeks based on eCPM payback, without long-term heavy spending.
- Counter subscription walls in low-payment markets (Brazil) with "free, no locked features".
9. Uncertain
- Which platform the paid acquisition ran on (Google UAC, Meta, Bigo, or cross-promotion inside the portfolio), the unit cost, and whether ad revenue covers it: no direct evidence for any of these.
- The link between SWIFTFLYERS and Appsky Hong Kong rests on a single clue: a historical record in ads.txt / sellers.json.
- The package name lacks the swiftflyers prefix, which suggests it may have been migrated from another account, and its launch date may have been reset.
- The Brazilian review about "paid for two months" doesn't match "no in-app purchases".
- Our library only started collecting from 10-29, so all earlier curves are AppstoreSpy estimates.
