Vyrid - AI Photo Maker · Beyond the Frame Lab

# ₹5 trial, #29 in India Entertainment Top Grossing: Vyrid and its 30 sibling apps

**What it is** An Android app where you upload a selfie, pick a template, and generate AI portraits and short videos like "performing on a concert screen," "you inside a phone screen," "fan profile poster," and "time-travel transition." It targets India and Brazil.

**Why it took off** It's one of roughly 30 reskinned apps that a Chinese AI template platform, A1.art, has pushed out in bulk. They sit in the Entertainment category, where competition is weak. A ₹5 trial gets Indian users to pay first, and one account rides for two or three months before the next one replaces it.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't build the 31th copy of the same thing. Teams that already have AI generation capability and paid acquisition experience could take this playbook (one backend, many single-theme shells, cold category, cheap first purchase) to a country it hasn't reached yet, such as Indonesia or the Middle East, with local-theme templates.

C grade: it relies on a template factory and multi-account spreading that followers can't replicate, and the product itself leaves no gap to beat. Its India Entertainment Top Grossing spots are already crowded by a dozen of its own and similar apps. You can learn a whole playbook from it, but copying it isn't worth the cost. Few people know about it yet

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-07-21 · 11-07 installs 737,823

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

Three and a half months after launch, an AI portrait app called Vyrid on Google Play has 740k installs and has climbed to #29 in India's Entertainment Top Grossing. It isn't special in itself: it has no technology of its own, and the bad reviews say "trial ₹5, then you pay ₹100 more." What's worth watching is the company behind it. The same template backend, with a new name, a new developer account, and a new domain, has produced a new app over and over, about 30 so far. Below: what the playbook is, why it works in India, and whether you could follow it.

### A one-star review with 38 likes

On Aug 2026, 14, an Indian user named Prush K left a review of Vyrid on Google Play: "They say the trial pack is only ₹5, but after you buy it, they make you pay ₹100 more to try the trial pack. I stopped at ₹5. A trial should be free... they just want to squeeze at least that ₹5 out of everyone." 38 people marked it helpful, and as of November it's still the top review on the store page.

Two days later, Aug 16 to 18, Vyrid added about 54k installs over those two days, and on Aug 17 alone it had about 35k (AppstoreSpy estimate). Before that, it had been live for nearly a month with only 10.9k total.

Bad reviews and a surge arriving together is not a contradiction. ₹5 (about 6 US cents) was never meant to satisfy anyone. It's the threshold that gets people to pay for the first time.

### What it is

On the store page it's called "Vyrid - AI Photo Maker," with the subtitle "Create Portraits Beyond the Frame." Upload a selfie, pick a template, get an image or a short video. Its themes differ a bit from other AI portrait apps. The store page lists five types:

- Phone screen effects: put you inside a phone screen, with the screen light falling on your face

- Social profile: generate a "your fan profile" poster or short-video cover

- Big screen moments: put you on a concert screen, a city billboard, or a giant poster

- Transitions and time travel: dark-scene transitions, silhouette transitions, "time travel" videos

- Ordinary AI creative portraits

Shared videos carry the line "Get your dream photo in 5 seconds, unlock 29,000+ filters" (a post by an Indian user on Facebook in Sep 19, with the app's invite link).

In-app purchases from $0.49 to $49.99, version 0.0.6, no updates since Aug 4. It can still add new content without releasing a version, because the templates live on the server. It's listed under Entertainment on Google Play, not Photography.

### Who's behind it

The developer is "Beyond the Frame Lab," a name with almost no traceable information. But the privacy policy page gives it away: the logo is served from a `xiaopiu.com` CDN, the watermark image on the share page sits in a Tencent Cloud bucket whose name begins with `a1`, and the policy contains platform boilerplate like "When you release your application." xiaopiu.com is the domain of the Chinese design tool Jishi (即时设计), and the Jishi team built the AI template platform A1.art. Its official blog describes the mission as "letting everyone make and discover AI art apps." A1.art claims 70k+ filters, which matches Vyrid's "29,000+."

Searching Google Play for apps that follow the same privacy-policy URL pattern (`<brand>.app.<brand>.<suffix>/privacy-policy`) turns up 22 apps under 8 developer accounts, with about 29.6M installs combined. An earlier batch (around February 2026) sits directly under `*.app.a1.art` subdomains, such as Heyo, Beyo, Minimix, and Veeo. Together the two batches come to **about 30 apps and about 45.7M installs** (Google Play installs, 11-06).

| Developer account | Apps under the account (installs) |
|---|---|
| Digtial Dream Forge | Photora 7.53M, Rendio, Funpack, makmak, Rendix |
| Horizon AI Studio | Facefame 3.95M, Usgen 3.71M, DreamCove |
| Jishi Design&Tech (HK) | Dradra 2.94M |
| AIGC VIDEO GENERATOR | Vividix 2.31M, Moodix |
| Beyond the Frame Lab | Zikzik 770k, Vyrid 740k, Shadivo, Rendrise |
| Three other accounts | Flarcast, Oviarise, Mylolens, Vistell, Taleglow, Pixlume, Memepop |

The name "Jishi Design&Tech" is nearly a pinyin rendering of "Jishi" (即时设计). Whether all 8 accounts are run by them, or whether third parties publish through A1.art's white-label program, can't be seen from outside (the "release your application" wording in the policy suggests the platform supports third parties publishing, an inference).

Each app has a different theme: some do family portraits, some romance shots, some memories, and Vyrid does "screens and big stages." The backend, template library, and payment flow are all the same.

### Each app lives only two or three months

The apps in this matrix share a consistent lifespan: they surge for one to three months, decline, and the next one takes over.

The February batch is now dead: Heyo added 7 in the last 198 days, and Beyo 144. Vyrid's sibling Zikzik, launched in April, reached 770k and now adds only 7 in 44 days. The hardest-pushed batch was the one launched in July: Photora +810k in 7 days, #4 in India Entertainment Top Grossing; Vividix +650k, #10; Rendio +390k, #12. Vyrid +75k in 7 days, #29, places it in the second tier of this batch (Google Play installs and India Entertainment Top Grossing, 11-06).

Vyrid's own curve has the same shape (AppstoreSpy estimate):

| Timeline | Total installs | Pattern |
|---|---|---|
| 08-12 | 10.9k | Three weeks after launch, almost no traction |
| 08-16 to 08-18 | +54k over two days | Sudden surge |
| By 09-20 | 477k | 1–30k per day |
| 10-05 to 10-27 | +64k | About 2,800 per day, clearly declining |
| 10-27 to 11-06 | +75k, reaching 738k | About 7,500 per day, then accelerating again |

On Aug 17, 27, and a few days in Sep 10, single-day installs jumped to 3–40k. Then in late October it accelerated suddenly again, which looks like ad spend deployed in batches (inference). But the public ad libraries show nothing for it. TikTok is banned in India and nobody on X mentions it. Advertisers likely used other company names, and not finding it in the libraries doesn't mean it wasn't advertised.

On Nov 6, this matrix held 12 of the top 60 spots in India's Google Play Entertainment Top Grossing chart. The rest were mostly short dramas and streaming apps.

### Where the money comes from, and why it works in India

The money path is the bad review from the opening: the ₹5 trial works as the entry point, and once inside you get pushed up to a ₹100 "real trial," a weekly plan, or a credit pack. Almost nobody hesitates at ₹5, and once someone has paid once, the bar for paying again drops. The cost is reputation: the most-upvoted reviews on the store page are all complaints, and another review with 11 likes reads "Even after paying, the face in the video doesn't match. Fake app, Play Store please remove it." The developer's replies use the same customer-service template: "We're sorry for the bad experience. Could you tell us what problem you ran into?"

Why don't the bad reviews matter? Because each app was only ever meant to last two or three months. When reputation falls and rankings drop, the next new name is already climbing.

Several factors combine to make this playbook work in India:

- **Strong demand** . After the Gemini photo-editing trend, Indian Android users are very interested in AI portraits, face swaps, and photo-to-video. YouTube has Hindi tutorials like "Vyrid App Kaise Use Kare" (how to use Vyrid), and one even points people to a Telegram group for "all the prompts." Those videos only get 174 to 927 views, so this looks like a small organic community, not the main source of installs.

- **Low barrier** . #29 in India Entertainment Top Grossing and #118 in overall Top Grossing: a spot like this needs little revenue (inference). Brazil is the second market, at #59 in Entertainment Top Grossing.

- **Smart category choice** . AI portrait apps mostly crowd into Photography and fight Remini and Picsart head-on. This matrix puts everything in Entertainment, where the competitors are short dramas and video platforms, so a template app stands out.

- **Sharing is built-in advertising** . Generated images and videos carry a watermark and invite link, and users share them on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, which is free distribution.

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | How Vyrid differs |
|---|---|---|
| Other apps in the matrix like Photora, Vividix, Rendio, and Facefame | 1M to 7.53M | Same backend, only the theme changes |
| Google Gemini (Nano Banana photo editing) | 2.55B installs, +31.1M in 7 days | Free, but you write your own prompts |
| Remini | 625M | Established portrait and restoration apps with expensive subscriptions |
| Picsart | 1.45B, #50 in India Top Grossing | All-in-one editor, in the Photography category |
| Hypic (ByteDance) | 130M | Full-featured photo editing |
| PhotoLab / FaceLab / AI Mirror | 24M to 88M | previous-gen template filter App |

Besides the big players, other going-global teams are also stacking similar AI template Apps on the India Entertainment Top Grossing chart, like CoupleLens, DancePop and Phant AI.

Almost nobody knows the name Vyrid: no public revenue, no press coverage, 0 posts on X and TikTok. But the playbook itself is no secret anymore. The India Entertainment Top Grossing chart already has a dozen-plus of them.

### If it were you

**Verdict: you can learn the whole playbook, but copying it isn't worth it.** Vyrid runs on a template factory: tens of thousands of ready-made templates, a ready generation backend and payments, and a team that can keep 8 developer accounts going at once. If you follow, you won't get that factory, and you'll be fighting the factory's 30 accounts, plus several other going-global teams doing the same, for the same chart. On the product side there's no gap to "do better" in: users just want cheap and novel.

**What's worth taking:** one AI template backend wrapped in several single-theme brand shells; entering a category with weak competition (here, Entertainment) to chase the Top Grossing chart; using a very cheap first purchase as the paywall entry; generated results carrying a watermark and invite link by default. These moves work in other countries and other categories too.

**Who it's for:** going-global teams that already have AI image or video generation, a stock of templates, and buy User Acquisition on Google Play, and want several accounts to spread the risk.

**Who it's not for:** indie devs wanting to build an AI portrait App from scratch. You'd be competing on new-account speed with a factory that ships new accounts every month, and Indian single users pay very little, so without a paid acquisition budget it won't hold. It's also not for anyone who cares about reviews and long-term retention, since this playbook trades reviews for speed.

**How to do it:** if you must try, don't make the 31th copy of the same thing. Pick a market this matrix hasn't saturated yet (it's only charting in India and Brazil now), like Indonesia, other Southeast Asian countries or the Middle East. Build templates around local language, local holidays and local social platforms, and generate through off-the-shelf APIs like FAL. Copy the cheap first purchase if you like, but skip the "try first, then pay" trap, which only keeps an App alive for about two months.

**How to get users:** category chart rankings and search are the base, with Google and Meta paid acquisition on top, plus in-App sharing with invite links. The small Indian YouTuber tutorials and Telegram prompt groups can work too, but the volume is small.

**When to move:** there's no hard deadline. The value of this path comes from the category chart still having open slots. This company and its clones already hold a dozen-plus spots on India's Entertainment Top Grossing chart, so switching markets means doing it before the same matrix expands there.

**What would prove this read wrong:** ① Vyrid or the same-matrix Apps start updating steadily, reviews turn positive, and they keep growing past six months, meaning this isn't just fast-in-fast-out account stacking and there's a real retention product underneath worth re-examining; ② Google Play starts mass-removing these same-source reskin Apps, or tightens how it classifies "Entertainment", and the playbook fails across the board.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **Matrix reskin + store category charts and search (all in the Entertainment category)** : privacy policies all use the same <brand>.app.<brand>.<suffix> template; 22 Apps sit under 8 developer accounts, 29.6M installs combined; earlier, 8 more sat under *.app.a1.art, 16.1M installs combined (googleplay library); 11-06 of them hold 12 spots in India's Entertainment Top Grossing top 60

- **Verified** **In-App sharing / invite deep links + watermark** : Facebook user post (2026-09-19): "Unlock 29,000+ filters" + vyrid.app.vyrid.vip/i/67met3?source=share&share_token=…

- **Verified** **Small Indian YouTuber tutorials / Telegram prompt groups** : 3 tutorials such as "Vyrid App Kaise Use Kare", with 174–927 views; one of them funnels viewers to Telegram to get prompts

- **Verified** **Third-party store mirrors** : Indus Appstore, Softonic and CNET Download all have pages

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (Meta / Google UAC)** : 08-17, 08-27 and 09-10 jumped to 3–40k a day in single days, and it picked up again at the end of October, looking like batch campaigns; but neither the metaads nor googleads library matched an advertiser, and googleads is marked no_ads

## Vyrid - AI Photo Maker (px.vyrid.aura) research report

> Channel: Google Play | Developer account: Beyond the Frame Lab | Launched 2026-07-21 | Research date 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

Vyrid has nothing unique about it. It's **one of the "template reskin" Apps that A1.art (a domestic instant design team's AI template platform) pushes out in bulk overseas** . The same backend and template library, with a new name, a new developer account and a new domain, becomes a new App, aimed at Google Play's Entertainment category in India (then Brazil), earning from in-app purchases after a ₹5 trial that jumps to a higher price. It got going because of this company's factory-style playbook (ready template library, quick new Apps, strong demand for AI portraits in India), not because of product differentiation.

### 1. Data (our database + store page)

- 737,823 cumulative global installs, +7 over the last 75,281 days, which works out to about 10.7k a day (googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06).

- Curve since launch (AppstoreSpy estimates, googleplay.app_day_ext):
    - 2026-08-12 it was only 10.9k. From 08-16 to 08-18 it added about 54k over two days (08-17 single day about 35k), then held at 1–30k a day through 09-20, reaching about 477k cumulative by 09-20;
    - After 10-04 passed 598k it slowed noticeably; from 10-05 to 10-27 it added only about 64k in total (about 2,800 a day);
    - It picked up again from 10-27 to 11-06, adding about 75k over 10 days (about 7,500 a day). Brazil's Entertainment Top Free rose from 141 to 99–139, most likely another round of spend or a store expansion (unverified).

- Charts (googleplay.chart_rank, 10-29 to 11-06): India Entertainment Top Grossing climbed steadily from 42 to **29** , India overall Top Grossing rose from 154 to **118** , and Brazil Entertainment Top Grossing rose from 81 to 59; it has only charted in India and Brazil.

- In-app purchases at $0.49–$49.99 each; no updates since version 0.0.6,08-04. Templates live on the server side, so no release is needed.

- The rating count is empty in our library, and the store page shows 372 reviews. The most-liked visible reviews are negative: "trial is ₹5, you pay and then it's ₹100 to actually try it" (38 likes), "paid and the face doesn't match, fake App" (11 likes) (Play store page, 2026-08). Revenue comes from a cheap trial plus a price hike, and reviews are poor.

### 2. Who it really is: the A1.art App matrix (the core finding of this report)

- Vyrid's privacy policy is at `https://vyrid.app.vyrid.vip/privacy-policy`, and the page logo is served from `txcdn-prod-a1art.xiaopiu.com/assets/a1seo-render/…`. The watermark image on the user share page `vyrid.app.vyrid.vip/i/<code>` sits in the Tencent Cloud COS `a1-1318302755` bucket, with paths containing `app_<id>`. The privacy policy also contains platform boilerplate like "When you release your application". **All three point to A1.art.** xiaopiu.com is the domain of "Instant Prototyping / Instant Design"; the official A1.art blog states it is "an AI art platform launched by the Instant Design team", positioned as "everyone can build and discover AI art applications" (a1.art/zh/blog/a1-art-tutorial.html).

- Searching the googleplay library for the template "`<brand>.app.<brand>.<suffix>/privacy-policy`" turns up **22 Apps under 8 "developer" accounts** , about 29.6M installs combined: Digtial Dream Forge (Photora 7.53M, Rendio, Funpack, makmak, Rendix), Horizon AI Studio (Facefame 3.95M, Usgen 3.71M, DreamCove), AIGC VIDEO GENERATOR (Vividix 2.31M, Moodix), Jishi Design&Tech (HK) (Dradra 2.94M), Beyond the Frame Lab (Zikzik, Vyrid, Shadivo, Rendrise), Pixel Dream Works (Flarcast, Oviarise, Mylolens, Vistell), Dear Mate Labs (Taleglow), FUTURE GENERATOR PTE. LTD. (Pixlume, Memepop).

- An earlier batch (around 2026-02) sat directly under the `*.app.a1.art` subdomain: Heyo 3.55M, Beyo 2.95M, Minimix 2.22M, Veeo 2.16M, Viyo 2.04M, Vimi 1.53M, Beatmo 1.14M, POPDoll (developer email popdoll@a1.art). The developer accounts are the same few companies as in the batch above. Together the two batches come to **about 30 Apps and about 45.7M installs** (googleplay library, 2026-11-06).

- The lifecycle is very uniform: **each App runs hot for 1–3 months, then decays, and new accounts take over** . The February batch now adds only a few hundred a day in 7 days (Heyo 198, Beyo 144); Zikzik on the same account (listed 04-01, 770k) added only +44 in 7 days; the hottest right now are the July launches Photora (+810k in 7 days, India Entertainment Top Grossing #4), Vividix (+650k, #10) and Rendio (+390k, #12). Vyrid (+75k in 7 days, #29) is second tier inside this matrix.

- In 2026-11-06's India Entertainment Top Grossing top 60, this matrix holds 12 spots (ranks 4, 10, 12, 18, 25, 28, 29, 40, 43, 44, 45 and so on), and the rest are mostly short drama and streaming.

### 3. Competitors

| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Vyrid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photora / Vividix / Rendio / Facefame / Usgen / Dradra etc. (same matrix) | Android | 2026-03 to 07 | 1M to 7.5M installs | Same backend and template library, only the theme and packaging differ (family photos, romance, memories, group shots); Vyrid's theme is packaged around "phone screen / big screen / social profile" |
| A1.art official App | iOS / web | From 2025 (iOS id6748423076) | claims 70k+ filters | Parent platform, run direct; Vyrid is its white-label distribution account |
| Google Gemini (Nano Banana photo editing) | Big-company features | From ¥2024 | 2.55B installs, +31.1M in 7 days | Free, but you need to know how to write prompts; Vyrid is one tap to apply a template, plus the "prompt" play circulating on Telegram |
| Remini(Bending Spoons) | iOS / Android | 2019 | 625M installs, Philippines Top Grossing #81 | Established retouching and portrait product with a strong brand and expensive subscriptions; Vyrid relies on a cheap trial and more novel template themes |
| Hypic (ByteDance) | Android / iOS | 2023 | 130M installs | Full-featured photo retouching; Vyrid does only one-tap templates |
| Picsart | Android / iOS | 2011 | 1.45B installs, India Top Grossing #50 | All-in-one editor; Vyrid is a lightweight single-purpose entertainment generator |
| PhotoLab / FaceLab / AI Mirror | Android / iOS | 2020–2023 | 24M to 88M | The old-school template filter App; Vyrid is behind a faster-updating AIGC template line, and can also output video (transitions, time-travel) |

(All competitor install counts come from the googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06)

### 4. Growth tactics (evidence)

- **Clone matrix + store category chart and search** (confirmed): 30 sister Apps from the same source, all named "brand + AI Photo/Video Maker" and all filed under ENTERTAINMENT rather than PHOTOGRAPHY. That keeps them away from heavyweights like Remini and Picsart and gets them better positions on the Entertainment Top Grossing chart. Evidence in section 2.

- **In-app sharing and invite links** (confirmed): users on Facebook posted videos generated with Vyrid, with the caption "Get your own dream photo in just 5 seconds! Unlock 29,000+ filters—create for free now!" and a link `vyrid.app.vyrid.vip/i/67met3?source=share&share_token=…` (Facebook, 2026-09-19,290 views). This is a one-tap in-app share template with a watermark and deep link.

- **Small Indian YouTuber tutorials** (confirmed, small volume): Hindi tutorials like "Vyrid App Kaise Use Kare", with 174–927 views (MR SETH INDIAN, Technical Akbar 07, TheTECMaster, posted 1–2 months ago). One of them funnels viewers to Telegram for "all the prompts". This is organic spread within India's AI portrait prompt community, not the main source.

- **Third-party stores and download sites** (confirmed): mirror pages on Indus Appstore (India's domestic store), Softonic and CNET Download.

- **Paid acquisition** (inferred, unverified): 08-17, 08-27 and 09-10 daily numbers jumped to 3–40k over a few days, and acceleration came again at the end of October, which looks like batched campaigns. But no hits in the Meta ad library (metaads.app_link / ad) or Google ad library (googleads.watch marks it no_ads). Searching "vyrid" on TikTok returned 0 results (TikTok is banned in India) and X returned 0. Our ad libraries only cover tracked advertisers, and the advertiser may be using a different legal entity name, so no hits doesn't mean no spend.

### 5. Why it charted

1. **The parent platform's template factory** : A1.art has 20k to 70k ready-made templates, a ready generation backend and payment stack, so the marginal cost of launching a new App is close to zero. Vyrid claims "29,000+ filters", which matches A1.art's template library.

2. **The Indian market** : Android users are plentiful in India, and demand for AI portraits, face swap and photo-to-video is strong (the Gemini photo-editing wave drove education). The ₹5 low-price trial brings the paywall way down, which is why these Apps can hold #29 on the Entertainment Top Grossing chart and #118 overall Top Grossing, positions that are not hard to reach.

3. **Filed under Entertainment** : rival products crowd into Photography. Filing the whole matrix under Entertainment puts them up against short dramas and streaming, where template Apps stand out.

4. **The matrix spreads the risk** : any single App collects bad reviews (trial markups, faces that don't match) and has a short life, but new accounts keep taking over the baton, so a few takedowns don't hurt the whole.

5. **Sharing carries its own distribution** : outputs come with a watermark and deep link, so users posting them to Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp are free ads.

### 6. Differentiation

The product itself has almost no differentiation. Against its sister Apps it only swaps the theme packaging (phone-screen effects, concert big screens, social-profile posters, dark-scene transition / time-travel videos). Against Remini and Gemini it is "one-tap novelty templates + photo-to-video + ultra-cheap trial". **It is working because of its distribution and supply playbook (factory-style account spread + category choice + low-price trial), not because of differentiation.**

### 7. How visible it is

- No public revenue, no press coverage, nobody on X talking about it (x-radar 0 hits), TikTok 0 hits, only scattered tutorials from small Indian YouTubers. The Vyrid product **is basically unknown** .

- But the playbook itself is no secret: the same company already runs 30 accounts, and other Chinese going-global teams are also stacking similar AI template Apps on India's Entertainment Top Grossing chart (e.g. CoupleLens, DancePop, Phant AI). This lane is already crowded.

### 8. What to borrow

- One template backend, N brand shells, each App pitching a single scenario (family photos, romance, big screen, dancing), with different developer accounts and separate domains to spread review risk.

- Go after the Entertainment category, where competition is weaker, to chase the Top Grossing chart; choose low-barrier markets like India or Brazil.

- The ₹5 / $0.49 low-price trial works as the paid entry point, then upsell to weekly passes or credit packs (the cost is bad reviews, which shortens lifespan).

- Outputs default to a watermark and invite deep link.

### 9. Uncertain

- The specific paid acquisition channels and spend (the advertiser names on Meta / Google UAC don't match); whether the 08-17 and end-of-October jumps came from ads or from one template going viral.

- Whether the 8 developer accounts are all run by A1.art / Instant Design themselves, or a third-party "publisher" uses A1.art's white-label setup (the privacy policy's "release your application" wording suggests the platform supports others publishing).

- Retention, paid conversion and real revenue (the ratings count is empty in the library, so revenue can't be inferred from ratings).

- Whether the listing date 07-21 was ever reset by changing info or expanding stores.
