Erasio: Google let people turn off watermarks but gave no switch to India or Vietnam, and a Pakistani developer caught that crowd
What it is A Chrome extension. When you download Gemini images, Flow, or Google Vids videos, it removes the ✦ sparkle watermark in the bottom-right corner locally, and can batch-run prompts. $4.99 a month.
Why it took off It launched three days before the Gemini Omni video model, catching demand for video watermark removal. When Google opened the watermark toggle in August, non-Ultra users in India, Korea, and Vietnam were left out. It reached that group through multilingual YouTube ads and tutorials from small South Asian creators.
CHow you could approach it Don't build another watermark remover. Copy the playbook instead: list in the week a new model launches, use one landing page per model name, and watch where big companies enforce country or price-based restrictions. Translate one video into several languages and only buy ads in those countries.

Erasio is a Chrome extension that removes the ✦ sparkle watermark in the bottom-right corner when you download Gemini images, Flow, or Google Vids videos. It launched in May and has collected 50k users in half a year. The watermark removal algorithm is open source, there are over a dozen similar extensions, and Google itself provides a toggle to turn off watermarks. It survives on a timing window, a regional rule, and a modest YouTube ad budget.
Day 12 after the switch launched
On 2026 Aug 15, Google announced a "Media Watermark" toggle for Gemini and Flow that removes the visible watermark. By rights, the watermark-removal plugin business should have ended that day. But there's a small line in the help center: in India, South Korea and Vietnam, only AI Ultra subscribers can see the toggle.
On Aug 27, Erasio's YouTube channel posted three identical videos the same day, titled "The fastest way to clear Gemini, Google Flow & Vids Watermarks in 1 Click", in English, Vietnamese and Hindi. As of Nov 6, the three had 56,362, 52,392 and 18,031 views, with only 9, 7 and 4 likes. The channel has just 155 subscribers in total. Views versus likes is a gap of over 5,000x, and subscribers aren't growing. This looks like paid video promotion (inference; no record in the ad libraries).
Checking the Chrome Web Store reviews, nearly all the reviewers from 9 to October have Indian names, plus one Vietnamese user. On Oct 20, Amala Vullanki wrote: "I Saw it on Youtube and then i loved it thank you soo much".
What it is
It's built by Adeel Ahmad, an indie developer from Pakistan who also takes extension freelance work starting at $15.
- Watermark removal: Gemini and Nano Banana images, and Gemini Omni, Flow and Google Vids videos, are processed locally in the browser at the moment of download. Videos are handled frame by frame with the audio track untouched, so the saved file is clean and you skip the "upload, process, download" round trip.
- Batch prompt runs: added in October. Drop in a batch of prompts and it has Flow, Gemini and Vids generate them one by one, then removes the watermark and names the files in order. The store name also changed from "Erase Gemini Watermark" to "Automate Google Flow, Gemini and Google Vids".

Why this one took off
Perfect timing. It launched May 16, and three days later Google unveiled the Gemini Omni Flash video model at I/O, shipping it to Gemini and Flow at once. Most similar plugins could only handle images at the time, and this was one of the first to remove watermarks from video. The first YouTube videos (5-28, 6-03) and blog posts all used the word "Omni". Jun 3's "Is Your Gemini Omni Video Ruined by Sparkle Watermark?" got 41,495 views and 400 likes, and looks like it drew a fair amount of organic traffic.
The rules kept the demand for it. August's toggle took most countries' users away, leaving people in India, South Korea and Vietnam without Ultra, plus old files saved before the toggle. The languages of its three videos match exactly these countries. The store listing is also in 13 languages, including Hindi, Urdu and Korean.
Install it and forget it. Web-based watermark removers are free, but you have to upload your files. This one processes them at download, so users barely notice. Similar plugins mostly score between 1.5 and 4.2, with dozens of reviews; this one has 4.5 stars and 174 reviews.
Where users come from
- YouTube promotion: the videos above got 10,000 to 50,000+ views each, with single-digit likes (inferred to be paid promotion).
- Small South Asian YouTubers making tutorials: Tech With Tk (12,133 views), Faceless Youtuber Tamil (12,368), Tech2AI (9,347), and Hindi-language Siddsnation (4,193), concentrated between 7 and September. The official site spells out the swap: you promote us, we promote you in the plugin, no money changes hands. Getting someone to sign up also earns credits.
- One keyword, one landing page: erasio.io has separate pages for removing watermarks from Gemini, Omni, Omni Flash, Flow, Vids and Veo, plus blog and how-to pages. Searching "remove watermark gemini" puts it near the top.
- Renaming to ride big keywords: for batch Flow runs, the leading plugins have 100K users, and their search volume is bigger than "remove Gemini watermark". After the rename, it can show up in those searches too.
- Review nudging: the three five-star reviews on the official site were all posted on Jul 28, and one reviewer is named "Jofra Archer", the same name as an England cricketer (could be a friend or an alt account; unverified).
Nobody has mentioned it on X in the past six months, and no media has covered it. The people who know about it are mostly in South Asian YouTube tutorial circles and the same Chrome Web Store category.
Where the money comes from
Visitors get a small amount of free credits each day, with more after signing up. When that runs out, they buy a monthly subscription. Watermark removal costs credits, and each prompt in a batch run costs credits too. Paying users are faceless-channel and Shorts creators who produce dozens of Flow videos a day. Ad slots are sold separately, and subscribers don't see ads. Payments run through Paddle.
$4.99 a month, a very low unit price. Paying users aren't public; based on 50K users, that's probably in the thousands of dollars a month (inference; no revenue figures at all).
Who it's competing with
| Competitors | Scale | How Erasio differs |
|---|---|---|
| Google's own watermark toggle | All Gemini users (India, Korea and Vietnam only for Ultra) | The official route skips the watermark entirely, so most countries' demand is gone |
| Gemini Watermark Remover(geminiwatermarkremover.io) | 70K users, 4.17 stars / 23 reviews | Launched 13 days earlier, more users, mainly images |
| Peel Banana, PureGemini, oneshotseo's Sparkle Remover, etc. | 10k users each | These also handle video and charge, but launched nearly two months later |
| Open-source repos such as GargantuaX/gemini-watermark-remover | 5,714 star | Same algorithm, but you upload files yourself or run a command line |
| Flow Automation (kylenguyen.me), Auto Vibes, ZAPI FLOW, etc. | 40K to 100K users | Leaders in batch generation, without watermark removal |
Its problems show up in reviews too. On Oct 12, Sujit SEO Services left a bad review: "Maybe once in a blue moon it works... half of the video without watermark, wasted my time". On Oct 6, someone just wrote "does not working, time waste". Every time Google changes the page, it has to fix things. The official site even has a dedicated article on what to do when the plugin stops removing watermarks.
If it were you
C: The playbook is worth studying, but this field isn't worth entering. The watermark-removal algorithm is public, and there are a dozen similar plugins. Google's toggle has already taken most countries, and the non-Ultra users in the remaining three countries will only pay $4.99 a month. In the batch Flow niche, the leader already has 100K users. Its own user count has stalled at 50K, with no sign of growth.
Who it's for: indie developers who can build extensions and are willing to watch big-company release schedules closely. Treat it as a playbook to learn from. Don't copy the product; copy how it finds demand. Wherever a big platform's restriction is enforced by country or price tier, people will pay to get around it.
Who it's not for: anyone thinking of building yet another Gemini watermark remover. It's too late, and not safe. If Google changes the download interface, or rules that removing the visible watermark violates policy, the plugin could be pulled from the store.
How to do it:
- Launch in the week the next major model ships. Build the product around the model name: one name, one landing page, one video. Erasio launched three days before Omni, and that timing accounts for half its success.
- Intercept at the download step and wrap the open-source algorithm as "install and forget it", so users never have to upload files again.
- Before the core need gets absorbed by an official feature, attach credits to a more frequent adjacent task (here, batch generation), then rename to chase bigger search terms.
How to acquire users: translate one video into several languages and only run paid promotion in the countries where the restriction is enforced; trade promotion with small South Asian YouTubers through "cross-promote plus credits for referrals", which costs almost nothing.
When this playbook works: it only works in the first few weeks after a new model launches. By week two, a wave of same-named plugins will appear.
What would prove you've read it wrong: (1) Google opens the toggle to India, Korea and Vietnam, but Erasio's user count doesn't drop, which would mean the batch generation line stands on its own and is worth a second look; (2) its user count climbs past 100K and catches the leaders in batch Flow, which would mean the "generation plus watermark removal under one credit pool" bundle really sells; (3) the reverse: if it gets pulled from the store, that confirms this category is already unsafe on Google's platform.

A Pakistani indie developer (Adeel Ahmad, who started with freelance extension work at $15) built a Chrome extension for Gemini / Nano Banana images and Gemini Omni / Flow / Google Vids videos that automatically strips the ✦ sparkle watermark locally the moment you download. Recently (October) it added "batch prompts that auto-run Google Flow / Gemini / Vids," and the store name changed from "Erase Gemini Watermark" to "Automate Google Flow…". It charges per credit, with payments through Paddle.

1. Why it took off
Timing: Google keeps producing viral watermarked generators within a single year
- Nano Banana (2025-08 and up) + Gemini 3 / Nano Banana Pro (2025-11): images generated by free and Pro users get a visible ✦ watermark in the bottom right (Ultra and AI Studio developers don't). 2025-12 GitHub quickly filled with reverse alpha-blending watermark removers: GargantuaX/gemini-watermark-remover with 5,714 stars (created 2025-12-19), allenk/GeminiWatermarkTool with 3,134 stars (2025-12-12) (github library). The algorithm is public, so anyone can copy it.
- Gemini Omni Flash (2026-05-19, Google I/O): the video model launched on both the Gemini app and Google Flow, rolling out globally to AI Plus / Pro / Ultra subscribers (blog.google, "Introducing Gemini Omni"). Erasio 2026-05-16 launched three days before the Omni release. Its first YouTube videos (05-28 "Gemini Omni Watermarks? Remove Them Instantly", 06-03 "Is Your Gemini Omni Video Ruined by Sparkle Watermark?") and its blog post (06-02 "How to Remove the Watermark from Google Omni Videos") all ride the Omni keyword. Most competing extensions only handle images. It's among the first extensions to do frame-by-frame local watermark removal on video with the audio track left intact (WebCodecs), which fits Omni video demand well.
Platform event: 2026-08-15 Google allowed turning off the visible watermark, except in India / Korea / Vietnam
- Josh Woodward announced a "Media Watermark" toggle for Gemini and Flow (gizchina 2026-08-15). The Google Help Center states that in India, Korea and Vietnam, only AI Ultra subscribers can see this toggle; everyone else gets the visible watermark (support.google.com/gemini/answer/17405358).
- This should have killed the demand. But Erasio's users happen to be concentrated in exactly these places: the latest store reviews are almost all Indian names (Amala Vullanki, vishal c, Vansh Aamber, Sujit SEO Services, Shibaji Jena, Apurba Pathak, S s v Rohit…), plus the Vietnamese name Tran Linh (Chrome Web Store review page, 2026-09 to October).
- Within 12 days of the toggle going live (2026-08-27), Erasio shipped ad videos in English, Vietnamese and Hindi on the same day (see below), and its language list also covers Korean, Hindi and Urdu. The move is to catch the remaining demand precisely: users in countries that legally require visible watermarks, plus people who haven't bought Ultra.
- A Google forum thread also reports "toggle off but the video still has sparkles" (2026-09-18), showing the toggle itself is unreliable, which leaves room for the tool.
Where users come from (evidence in section 3)
Mainly YouTube paid promotion (their own channel has only 155 subscribers, yet single videos get 13k–56k views with single-digit likes), plus South Asian small-YouTuber tutorials (cross-promo / referral credits), a large cluster of SEO landing pages on erasio.io, and the Chrome Web Store "related extensions" slots.
Why they stay and why they pay
- Install and forget: when you download a Gemini / Flow image or video, you can process it right away, and what you save is clean. No more upload → process → download. This is its biggest difference from web tools.
- Pay-as-you-go suits content creators: people running Faceless channels / Shorts can generate dozens of Flow videos a day, the free quota isn't enough, and they naturally move up to a monthly subscription. In October it also added batch Flow / Gemini / Vids prompts, which cost credits per prompt too, so one credit pool covers both batch generation and watermark removal, letting it earn more from each user.
- Negatives: reviews say "works sometimes, not others," "only removes half the video," "does not working" (Sujit SEO Services 10-12, Apurba Pathak 10-06). Every time Google changes the page, it has to be fixed (the site even has a post titled "The Extension Isn't Removing the Watermark").

Big-company features
Google's own "Media Watermark" toggle (2026-08-15) is the biggest "competitor": in most countries the demand is simply gone. Only non-Ultra users in India / Korea / Vietnam, and old files saved before the toggle, still need it.
3. Growth tactics (evidence)
- YouTube paid promotion (highly likely, no direct ad-library record): their own channel @Erasio-e has only 155 subscribers and 14 videos, but
- 2026-08-27 On the same day, three videos on the same topic: English "The fastest way to clear Gemini, Google Flow & Vids Watermarks in 1 Click" 56,362 views / 9 likes; Vietnamese version 52,392 views / 7 likes; Hindi version 18,031 views / 4 likes;
- 08-21「Don't Let Watermarks Ruin Your Google Vids Project!」13,504 views / 9 likes;
- 06-03 Omni video 41,495 views / 400 likes (this one looks more like a mix of organic traffic and paid promotion). A views-to-likes ratio of 5,000:1+ with almost no subscriber growth is the typical look of a YouTube video ad (YouTube Data API, 2026-11-06). Our googleads library only tracks products on our list, and this one isn't on it, so it's marked unverified.
- Tutorials from small South Asian creators + cross-promotion / referral credits: Tech With Tk 12,133 views, Faceless Youtuber Tamil 12,368, Tech2AI 9,347, Siddsnation (Hindi) 4,193, Stoker Ai 4,204, Aryan Srivastav 1,555, Akib Ansari, Guided Solutions, Halwest Abdullah and others, clustered from 2026-07 to September (YouTube Data API). The site states plainly "Audience partnership: you promote us, we promote you in the extension, no fees" and offers referral credits (erasio.io/advertise, /referral-program). There's also a Browser Buddy channel and an official co-branded release.
- SEO landing page matrix: erasio.io has one page per keyword, such as gemini-watermark-remover, gemini-omni-video-watermark-remover, omni-flash-…, google-flow-…, google-vids-…, veo-and-omni-…, plus a blog, author pages (E-E-A-T) and use-case pages. Searches on Jina for "Erasio Google Flow automation" and "remove watermark gemini" both rank it near the top. Store copy in 13 languages.
- Renaming to ride search: the store name changed from "Erasio - Erase Gemini Watermark…" (the install-link slug on the site still reads erasio-erase-gemini-water) to "Automate Google Flow, Gemini and Google Vids", to target the bigger search term "auto flow / flow automation" (extensions in this category have 100k+ users at the top).
- Chrome Web Store related slots: its "related extensions" spot is crowded with similar products (PureGemini, TheFlow, Flow Automation, Gemini Watermark Remover 70k, etc.), which suggests it has entered this category's recommendation circle and can feed traffic to and from peers (chromestore related).
- Signs of review seeding: the three 5-star reviews on the official site were all posted on 2026-07-28, and one reviewer is named "Jofra Archer" (the name of an English cricketer), another "Champions Mentality". They look like friends or alt accounts (unverified).
- Facebook page + Instagram reels; almost no presence on X (x-radar found 180 related posts for erasio in the last 0 days); no media coverage found.
4. Differentiation
- Versus web tools / open-source tools: it handles everything at the download step, so users never see the middle steps. Videos are processed frame by frame locally, and the audio track is left untouched. The algorithm itself has no moat (open-source libraries with 5,700 stars), the difference is packaging it as an automated workflow.
- Versus other watermark-removal extensions: it was first to cover Omni, Flow and Vids videos, the scenario users need most, and it got there early. Its rating is 4.5 from 174 reviews, clearly above peers (most sit at 1.5–4.2 with dozens of reviews).
- Versus Flow batch extensions: it is the only one that bundles batch generation, automatic watermark removal and sequential naming, and one set of credits works across both.
- Is this why it took off? Partly. What got it to 50k users was timing (listed the same week as the Omni release, when there was little supply of video watermark removal) plus paid YouTube traffic and tutorials seeded by South Asian creators. Its differentiation (video support, zero-click) kept the users it paid for and drove high ratings. After Google's August switch lifted the watermark restriction, it survived on the rule that India, Vietnam and Korea still get watermarks, and it pivoted to batch automation with a new name. Users have been stuck near 50k over the last 6 days, with no sign of acceleration.
5. Visibility
Word of mouth says it is known in the South Asian YouTube tutorial circles and among similar Chrome Web Store listings. No media coverage, no buzz on X, and revenue is not public (TrustMRR and others show nothing). The category itself is crowded, though: more than a dozen extensions with the same name and dozens of open-source libraries, and Google's official toggle has taken most of the market.
6. Takeaways
- Watch where big companies force visible marks on free or certain-country users: the demand is created by regulation and tiered pricing. Wherever the mark is still mandatory, there is room to charge (India, Korea, Vietnam).
- Intercept processing at the download step (instead of making users upload again), packaging the open-source algorithm as a product that works once installed.
- Ship the same week a new model launches, with one keyword landing page and one video per model name (Omni, Nano Banana, Flow, Vids).
- Translate single videos into multiple languages and run paid promotion, targeting countries where regulation forces the mark. Trade cross-promotion and referral credits with small South Asian YouTubers to get them to make tutorials, at no cash cost.
- Before the core need gets absorbed by platform features, attach credits to an adjacent high-frequency action (batch generation), and rename to target a bigger search term.
7. Uncertain
- Revenue scale: the pricing page is JS-rendered, so the monthly subscription amount couldn't be read. Number of paying users is completely unknown.
- YouTube ads: inferred from the views-to-likes ratio, not recorded in any ad transparency center.
- Timeline contradiction: the official changelog lists v1.0.0 as "2025-10 launch" and v2.0.0 as "2026-04", but this store listing only launched 2026-05-16 and the current version is 1.3.1. Either another listing was taken down earlier, or the changelog is fabricated.
- Where users go from 50k: our daily records cover only 6 days and are approximate, so we can't tell whether users went up or down after the August switch. Android installs are unverified.
- Compliance risk: if Google changes its download interface or classifies "removing visible watermarks" as a violation, the extension could be delisted.
