Vids Automation - Auto VEO & Voice on Google Docs · Truong Nguyen

A Vietnamese developer's #9 clone: the same code ported to Google Vids to occupy an empty slot

What it is A free Chrome extension that queues a whole batch of prompts in Google Vids and automatically generates Veo videos, images, and voiceovers in bulk and downloads them automatically.

Why it took off In April Google made Veo free for everyone in Vids. Two months later the author ported the Flow-version code over, and it's the only extension in the store dedicated to bulk Vids generation; on top of that, the author's 16 same-named extensions cross-link to each other. The author barely promoted it, and users have plateaued at 9,000.

CHow you could follow this Don't copy the Vids one; go after the next AI generation entry point that just opened and has its own separate quota: within two to four weeks, publish an "X Automation" extension, stuff the title with the platform name and "automation," and build out the post-generation timeline scheduling and export-to-finished-video features.

Grade C: the Vids bulk slot is already taken, the entry point is small, user growth has flattened, it earns no money, and Google's official bulk feature could replace it at any time. What's worth learning is the playbook of grabbing new entry points and cross-promoting a matrix, which the author and over a hundred Flow extensions are already doing. Few people know about it yet

9,000 users · rating 4.88 (93)

Vids Automation is a free Chrome extension that runs Veo video and voiceover generation in bulk inside Google Vids. It reached 9,000 users and a 4.88 rating 5 months after listing. It's not a new idea from one person: Hanoi developer Truong Nguyen took the code of his two existing extensions with 100k users and re-listed it under a new URL. What's worth looking at isn't the extension itself but the author's playbook: "Google opens a new entry point, so I ship a same-named extension."

"Stop typing prompts one by one"

2026 Jun 23, the YouTube channel 「Truong Nguyen | AI Automation Tools」 posted a video titled 《Vids Automation User Guide》. The first line of the description reads: 「Stop wasting time entering prompts one by one manually.」 It goes on to say the plugin can queue dozens or hundreds of prompts at once, batch-generate videos and images, convert text to voiceovers, then auto-download and sort everything into project folders. As of Nov 6, the video has 1,452 views in total.

The extension was listed in Jun 6. Two months earlier, on Apr 2, Google announced on its official blog that all personal Google accounts could use Veo 3.1 to generate videos in Vids for free. Vids sits under docs.google.com/videos as part of the Google Docs family, which is why the extension is named "Auto VEO & Voice on Google Docs."

In Sep 16, a user named Christina Conley left a review in the store: "My favorite part is being able to queue a lot of work at once." That's all it really sells.

What it is

Once installed, a sidebar appears on the right side of Google Vids. Paste in a whole list of prompts and it submits them, waits for generation, and runs the next one by itself, with automatic intervals to avoid rate limits and automatic retries on failure. Finished videos, images, and MP3 voiceovers are downloaded automatically and placed in project folders. A Concat mode chains several prompts into one long video, each prompt can take up to 3 reference images, and the interface is available in 6 languages: English, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish (per the store description).

It's free, the store lists no in-app purchases, and the author's site kylenguyen.me has no pricing page. It uses the debugger permission to simulate real clicks on the page, so it has to be updated every time Google changes the interface: 5 months of releases up to 1.2.0, with the latest version on Nov 3.

Chrome Web Store, 11-01 to 11-06. User count didn't change at all in a single week.

The author barely promoted it: two Vids tutorials totaled under 2,000 views, and in the nearly 90 days before, searches for "Vids Automation" and "Google Vids bulk" on X each returned 0 posts. No media coverage, and no ads seen. Users come mainly from two places.

First, nobody is competing for store search. Among Chrome Web Store extensions built specifically for bulk generation in Google Vids, it's the only standalone one I could find. Searching "Google Vids automation extension bulk prompts" in a search engine, its store page is the first result. The title is stuffed with VEO, Voice, and Google Docs, so it shows up for any of those terms.

Second, its own extensions cross-promote each other. The store lists 13 "related extensions" beneath it, 10 of which are Truong Nguyen's own. This person has 16 extensions under the same "X Automation" naming:

Together they come close to 400k users. Traffic from the big ones flows through the related slots to the smaller ones, and the official homepage lays out a dozen-plus of them as a directory with install buttons. From Oct 1 to 16, his channel posted an English usage guide for 9 different extensions in a single half-month stretch. It's an assembly line: the same queue, download, and retry code, with a different target website and a rewritten set of page selectors, becomes a new extension.

One thing in the reviews is worth noticing: 93 ratings from 9,000 users, a rating rate of about 1%, 4 times that of the same author's Grok extension. Recent reviews are mostly five-star one- or two-word notes like "Great" and "Working great," clustering in mid-to-late September, several with Vietnamese names. Seedance and Qwen in the same matrix show equally high rating rates and the same 5.0 score. Whether this was solicited can't be confirmed (inference).

Why Vids specifically

The real main battlefield for bulk tools is Google Flow, the front door to Veo, where there are over a hundred similar extensions; the author's own Flow version alone has 100k users. Vids matters because it is a separate, independently metered quota pool: the same Veo counts separately in Flow and in Vids. Google's help center quota table (compiled by projedefteri.com in September) says free personal accounts get only 6 videos per month, AI Pro gets 500 seconds per month, Ultra gets 2,500 to 10,000 seconds per month, and voiceover is unlimited on Pro and above.

So free users get little value from a bulk tool; the ones who actually need it are heavy users who pay for Pro, Ultra, or Workspace: they drain the Flow quota, then drain a second one in Vids, and use Vids' voiceover along the way (inference). The name "VEO & Voice" is deliberately chosen to target exactly this.

This also explains why it has plateaued at 9,000: the entry point itself is small, and few people can actually use up the quota.

Who it's competing with

NameFormScaleHow it differs
ErasioChrome Extension50k users, 4.51 ratingIts main business is watermark removal and Flow bulk generation. Since August, its sidebar has gained a Vids tab that can push clips into the Vids timeline scene by scene; it charges per credit.

Flow bulk extensions (ZAPI FLOW, Auto Flow, and 100+ others)Chrome Extension7k to 100k users eachSame thing, done on Flow

On the Vids side alone, it was the first and nearly only one built for it. The real threat isn't competitors, it's Google: Flow already has an official agent, and once Vids gets one too, this whole category loses its reason to exist. It also runs by simulating clicks, so if Google tightens automation detection, it gets hit directly. Quota rules are shifting too: personal accounts have already dropped from 10 to 6 clips per month.

Where the money comes from

This one doesn't make money. Of the author's whole lineup, only Flow and Grok are listed with in-app purchases on the store. A third-party writeup says the Grok version is "core features free, paid unlocks higher limits", but prices and paying-user counts are not public. The Vids version exists to hold a spot, collect ratings, and give the bigger products more reach.

Searching online turns up flowautomation.store, advertising 100 free runs a day, $4 a month, or $20 a year. It's easy to mistake it for this author's paywall. Checked: it belongs to a Bangladeshi developer's separate extension, Auto Flow Pro, and has no connection to Truong Nguyen.

If it were you

C: worth learning from, not worth copying for Vids. The Vids bulk slot is already taken. The entry point is small, the user base has plateaued, it earns nothing, and it's always one Google official feature away from being obsolete. What's worth studying is the author's method: one generic "queue + download + retry" codebase, with a same-named extension put up first on every new AI generation entry point.

Who it suits: solo developers who can quickly write web automation and are willing to keep fixing selectors as each vendor updates its UI; people who already run one or two similar extensions and want to cross-promote through a portfolio.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone hoping to make money from a single extension. A single-entry free bulk tool tops out around 10k users, and the money comes from subscriptions on big entry points like Flow, where 100+ extensions already compete. It also doesn't suit people who can't handle "everything breaks when Google changes something".

How to do it: don't copy Vids, go after the next entry point nobody has built for yet. Watch for new generation products that launch with separate quotas (new video model sites, AI features inside Canva and CapCut, image generators from big vendors in various countries). Within two to four weeks of launch, ship an "X Automation": batch submission, automatic download, folders per project, with a multilingual UI. The step beyond Truong Nguyen is what happens after download: like Erasio, drop the results straight onto a timeline or export them as a finished cut. That's the part none of his same-shape extensions handle well.

How to get users: put the platform name, the model name, and the words automation / bulk in the title, to catch store searches like "platform + automation" that nobody is contesting. Publish one YouTube usage guide per extension. Once you have two or three, have them take up each other's related-extension slots in the store. If you charge at all, charge only on the one with the largest quota.

When to move: within the first one or two months after a new entry point opens. Vids opened in April, the author arrived in June, and only Erasio has followed since. Later than that, the early movers have already collected the search terms and reviews.

What would show you're wrong: ① Vids Automation passes 20k users before year-end, which would mean the Vids quota pool is bigger than assumed and a better Vids-specific tool is worth building; ② Google ships official bulk or an agent inside Vids, or starts blocking click simulation, which closes the window for this whole approach; ③ the author's next new-entry-point extension sits at a few hundred users a month after launch, which would mean the "claim a new entry point" advantage has been spread thin by him and his peers.

A final note for anyone building extensions: when the same model is placed in several products with separate quotas, every entry point attracts people who want to squeeze out every last credit. Count how many extensions already exist for an entry point before deciding whether to build there.

Vids Automation - Auto VEO & Voice on Google Docs: why it works

Bottom line

It's the number 9 copy in one developer's portfolio: Truong Nguyen took his own "X Automation" codebase, with queued bulk submission and automatic download (the Flow and Grok versions both have 100k users), and applied it to Google Vids, right as Google made Veo 3.1 free for every personal account in Vids 2026-04. There are almost no store extensions built specifically for Vids bulk, so its 9,000 users come mainly from the uncontested "Google Vids + automation" search, plus portfolio extensions filling each other's related slots for cross-traffic. He has done little promotion of his own (two Vids tutorials, about 1,900 views combined). It isn't a hit that grew on its own. It's more like an empty slot picked up as a side effect of a portfolio push. The 11-01 to 11-07 user count has stayed at 9,000, not growing.

2. Competitors

Almost no extensions are built specifically for bulk generation inside Google Vids. A full-text search of the chromestore library for "google vids", plus a search for entries whose name or description contains docs.google.com/videos, turns up only two that actually do Vids bulk:

Verdict: as far as the Vids entry point goes, this was the first and nearly only extension built specifically for it. Erasio added Vids later, so it's a half-follower.

3. Developer matrix (the key to understanding it)

  • Only Flow and Grok are marked with in-app purchases in the store. extension.vn says of Grok: "Core features are free; premium plans unlock higher limits." Vids Automation shows no monetization point.
  • Correction to the recall card: the recall card treated flowautomation.store ($4/month, $20/year, 100 free runs a day, Stripe checkout) as this developer's monetization site. On checking, that site belongs to a different extension, Auto Flow Pro (ljkkbddijmbnkjlnlkckfbnnbijmmdpf, developer Mamun Hoque, Dhaka, Bangladesh, 7,000 users), and has nothing to do with Truong Nguyen (store links and WhatsApp +880 number on the flowautomation.store page; chromestore library).
  • Cadence: over the half-month from 2026-10-01 to 10-16, the official YouTube channel published English user guides for 9 extensions at once (Data API).

4. Why it took off

Timing: Google turned Vids into a free, standalone Veo usage pool

  • Starting 2026-04-02, every personal Google account gets 10 free Veo 3.1 videos per month in Vids (blog.google, "Create, edit and share videos at no cost in Google Vids"). Two months later, 2026-06-06, Vids Automation was listed.
  • 2026-09-23 Vids switched to Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, and Google again advertised "make videos for free with any Google or Workspace account" (blog.google).
  • Quotas (table from Google's help center, compiled by projedefteri.com): personal accounts get 6 videos a month; AI Pro gets 500 seconds a month; Ultra gets 2,500 or 10,000 seconds a month; Pro voiceover is unlimited. A bulk tool is of little use to free accounts. The people who actually need it are Pro, Ultra and Workspace accounts. For them, Vids and Flow are two separately metered quotas, and Vids also has voiceover (text-to-voice) that Flow lacks. The extension name says "VEO & Voice" for exactly this reason. This is an inference: once Flow quota runs out, Vids becomes a second output channel.

Distribution: little competition in search, cross-promotion within the matrix, very little owned content

Retention and product

  • The product is the Flow version's feature set: queueing, smart intervals to avoid rate limits, auto-retry, auto-download into per-project folders, Concat to chain multiple prompts into a long video, up to 3 reference images per prompt, 6 interface languages (store description). It sends real clicks via the debugger permission, same as the Flow extension in the matrix.
  • 11 versions shipped in 5 months, with 1.2.0 of them released in 11-03, keeping pace with Google's UI changes (the 11-version count comes from the recall card; version numbers from the store).
  • Only one negative review was seen: "Frame to video. Not working" (2026-09-24).

5. Differentiation

The feature set has no differentiation: it is nearly identical to the author's own Flow version and to Erasio's Vids tab. Only two things set it apart: the entry point (the only single-purpose extension built specifically for Google Vids; searching "Vids bulk" in the store turns up mostly this one) and being free (Erasio's Vids bulk costs credits). Those two are why it reached 9,000 users. But the entry point is small (the users with large quotas are Pro / Ultra / Workspace), and the author barely promotes it, so it stalled at 9,000.

6. How many people can see it

Still little known: no media coverage, no X discussion, owned Vids videos under 2,000 views, revenue undisclosed, and it charges nothing. But the whole "AI web bulk automation extension" category is already crowded, with 100+ Flow extensions alone; only the Vids entry point is still open.

7. What to learn from it

  1. One codebase, applied to every new AI generation entry point: each time Google opens a new free or standalone quota entry point (Vids, Whisk, Gemini, Vibes...), ship a same-named "X Automation" to own the "X + automation" search term. The cost is a selector-update job; the payoff is that a new entry point has almost no competitors for its first few months.
  2. Use the matrix to take related-extension slots: 16 identical extensions fill each other's "related extensions" slots, the big ones feed traffic to the small ones, and one person can run a 390k-user portfolio.
  3. Look for "another usage pool": the same model (Veo) is metered separately in different products, so heavy users want to exhaust quota in every entry point, and that creates demand for bulk tools.
  4. Free small extensions don't need to monetize right away. Take the position first, build up ratings, and let the big ones (Flow / Grok) collect the revenue.

8. Still unclear

  • The late-August starting point of 6,000 users has no source, so the growth curve is unclear.
  • Whether users were cross-promoted from the Flow / Grok extensions or came from organic store search can't be separated: there's no in-extension data, and no package inspection to check for cross-recommendations.
  • The pricing and paying user count for Flow / Grok are unknown.
  • Whether the wave of short 5-star reviews clustering in September was prompted by something, we can't confirm.
  • Risks: Google adds an official bulk feature to Vids, tightens automation detection (debugger clicks), or changes quota policy (already dropped from 10 videos a month to 6 in September). Any of these would hit demand directly.
