DubFlow — YouTube Video Translator, AI Dubbing & Real-Time Voice Over · ytdubflow.com

# Two YouTube voiceover extensions launched the same day: one with 1,000 users, one with 60k

**What it is** A Chrome extension that reads a YouTube video's built-in subtitles, translates them, and dubs them in real time with an AI voice in your language, with the original audio lowered.

**Why it took off** YouTube 2026-02 pushed auto-dubbing to every creator, and "watch YouTube in your native language" became mainstream demand. DubFlow grew steadily to 1,000 with keyword titles, store pages in 55 languages, a website in 19 languages and its own plugin driving traffic, with no content or creator channel.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't go the "subtitles + machine translation" route. Follow "capture audio + real-time LLM translation, user brings their own key" and build a dedicated version for one language or one use case (online courses, a specific minor language), with demo videos showing "others can't dub this, I can" to win users.

Grade C: the demand is real, but the category already has 40 similar apps launched around the same time. livdub switched to a better tech route and reached 60k, and YouTube's native dubbing keeps squeezing the space. Worth studying their cost structure and distribution playbook, but copying the product isn't worth it. Still under the radar

1,000 users · rating 4.5 (6)

In 2026 Jul 22, LumenPlus AI uploaded DubFlow to the Chrome Web Store. The plugin dubs foreign-language YouTube videos into your language in real time. The next day, another plugin called livdub launched. By Nov 6, DubFlow had 1,000 users and livdub had 60k. Same demand, same timing, a 60x gap. DubFlow itself didn't break out. What's worth looking at is where that 60x gap comes from, and whether this category still has room for you.

### One review hit the nail on the head

DubFlow's store page has 6 ratings, averaging 4.5. In Aug 24, a user named Muhammad Rozi wrote:

> its quite fast but it doesnt support videos without subtitles

The same day, another review said: "dubbing is quite good but it takes a little while to load." Both reviewers look like they're from Indonesia (inferred).

"Doesn't work without subtitles" isn't a bug. It follows from how DubFlow works. It reads the subtitle track embedded in the video (human subtitles preferred, auto-captions also work), translates it, and dubs each line at its timestamp, with the original audio ducked to about 5%. The upside: cheap, accurate, and the dubbing stays in sync with the picture instead of drifting behind. The downside: videos without a subtitle track, and sites other than YouTube, are out of reach.

livdub takes a different approach. It captures the audio playing in the browser tab, sends it to Google's Gemini for real-time translation, and speaks the result, with about 2 seconds of delay. So YouTube, live news, online courses, and podcasts all work, as long as Chrome is playing sound. It also has Android and iPhone versions.

### What it is, and how it charges

DubFlow is lightweight: install it, sign in with a Google account, and a button appears on the player control bar. Pick a language and click Dub. Male and female voice presets are included, and it states clearly that it does no voice cloning. Re-watching a dubbed video uses the cache, plays instantly, and doesn't count against your quota.

Pricing (ytdubflow.com, 11-06):

| Tier | Item |
|---|---|
| Free | Google Translate is unlimited, no login required. LLM translation is capped at 3 distinct videos per day. |
| Pro | $49.99 per year (the page says "save 17%", so monthly works out to roughly $4.99). Higher LLM translation quota, payment via Stripe. |

Dubbing is synthesized locally in the browser and translation uses Google Translate, so it spends almost nothing on inference, which is why the free tier can be so generous. What it actually charges for is better translation quality. A directory site still lists its early pricing: "free, 3 videos per day." That shows the free tier was loosened later, and the paid tier now charges only for LLM translation quality.

livdub's monetization is simpler: users get a free Gemini key from Google and enter it into the plugin, so model costs are billed to the user's own key. The free version gives 45 minutes per day on Chrome. The paid plan is $5 per month or $50 per year, with unlimited duration, no ads, and export to MP3 and subtitles. The two are priced almost the same. The difference is that livdub doesn't carry any inference cost itself.

### Where DubFlow's 1,000 users came from

The visible channels are all zero-cost volume plays:

- **Title stuffed with search terms** : "YouTube Video Translator, AI Dubbing & Real-Time Voice Over" packs in translator, dubbing, and voice over. The store page has 55 language listings.

- **Landing pages in 19 languages** on the official site, including Persian, Lithuanian, Vietnamese, and Hindi. The blog is empty.

- **Cross-promotion between its own plugins** : the same developer also makes Youtube Transcripts (3,000 users) and a manga translation plugin, Unraw Manga (177 users), and the sites link to each other in their footers. The people who watch YouTube overlap heavily.

- **Directory backlinks** : SaaSHub (10-04 listings), Stork.AI, and several others have pages for it, which looks like batch submission.

- **Store "related" recommendations** : the store lists it alongside similar tools like AutoDub and TranslateTube.

Searching X, TikTok, and Reddit turns up no discussion in the past 90 days, and no media coverage. The growth curve is a flat, gentle slope: about 1 in Sep 204, 4 in Oct 540, 1 982 in Nov (readings from a third-party plugin statistics site, not verified), then stalled at 1,000 for a week.

### How crowded it is

Very. Searching the Chrome Web Store by name and description for dub, voice translate, and video translate turns up 40+ plugins that do YouTube dubbing or translation:

| Add-ons | Launched | users | Rating | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Immersive Translate | 2022-11 | 3M | 4.6 | All-in-one translator; bilingual subtitles are just one feature |
| YouTube Dubbing – Translate & Dub | 2023-06 | 200k | 3.5 | Category leader, choice of GPT / Claude |
| Video Translator / TransMonkey | 2023–24 | 80k + 70k | 2.9 / 1.9 | Same developer running two accounts for volume, poor ratings |
| livdub | 2026-07-23 | 60k | 4.6 | Captures tab audio, works on any site, has a mobile version |
| AutoDub | 2025-12 | 30k | 4.3 | Only 7,000 in early September but growing fastest; the official site has a dedicated comparison page against livdub |
| Tofu Dubbing | 2026-03 | 30k | 4.6 | 1,124 ratings, a fairly high count |
| TranslateTube | 2025-12 | 20k | 4.1 | Positioning nearly identical to DubFlow |
| DubTab, VoxTube, EarDub, DubMog, VidLingo… | 2026 | A few hundred to 10k | — | A large batch of copycats, many launched just weeks apart from DubFlow |

(Data: Chrome Web Store, 11-06 to 11-07)

The name also collides: the store has another "DubFlow: Real-time AI Translation" (2026-04, for meeting interpretation), and there's a dubflow.pro and an Android app with the same name online. Users searching the brand name get split.

YouTube itself is overhead. Starting in 2026 February, YouTube opened auto-dubbing to every eligible creator, in 27 languages. That made "watch YouTube in your language" common knowledge, which is why more than a dozen new plugins appeared in 2026. But it requires the creator to turn it on, and many videos still have no dubbed track, so plugins survive by filling that gap. If the platform ever turns it on by default for everyone, that layer disappears.

### Why the gap is 60x

DubFlow's selling points (dubbing on the subtitle timeline, ducked original audio, bilingual subtitles, one-click toggle) are nearly all matched by AutoDub, TranslateTube, and DubTab. Its two less common points, unlimited free machine translation and replays that don't use quota, are cost-saving design choices that users barely notice.

livdub's difference from it is something users feel directly: **it's not picky about videos, websites, or devices** . DubFlow can only dub "YouTube videos that have subtitles," while livdub can dub "anything making sound in Chrome," and it's on mobile too. BYOK (bring your own key) means it isn't afraid of heavy usage, so its free allowance can be generous, measured in hours. So the problem isn't the demand; it's the approach. Exactly which channel pushed livdub to 60k this quickly hasn't been established. It has a demo video on YouTube, but whether it was paid promotion isn't visible.

### If it were you

**C** : this category has lessons to learn, but copying DubFlow isn't worth it. "Subtitle track + machine translation + local synthesis" is already being built by more than 40 people, and the strongest contemporary player has moved to "capture audio + real-time LLM translation," while the platform keeps pushing prices down.

**Who it fits** : developers who already have a plugin for YouTube viewers and an existing user base, adding dubbing as one feature in their own product line, using cross-promotion to get users rather than expecting it to grow alone. Or someone with access to a specific minority-language audience (for example, an Indonesian or Vietnamese learning community), building a dedicated version for that language.

**Who it doesn't fit** : anyone who wants to build a "real-time AI dubbing for YouTube" plugin from scratch and grow it through store search. DubFlow has already walked that path: titles, 55 language listings, 19 language landing pages, and directories are all done, and it has 3.5 users after 1,000 months.

**How to do it** : if you build, don't build the subtitle approach. On livdub's route, find the scenarios it doesn't cover: offline dubbing and export for courses on platforms like Udemy and Coursera, a dedicated version for one language (such as "English to Indonesian" or "English to Vietnamese" with the voice and terminology polished), or "large subtitles + slow-speed dubbing" for people with hearing impairments or older users. Copy both competitors' cost structure: dub locally, pass model costs to the user's own key, and charge only for "better translation" and "unlimited duration." $5 a month and $50 a year is the going rate in this category.

**How to get users** : store search and multilingual SEO are the base you must have, but they aren't enough. Content should be built as "comparison demos": the same video with no subtitles, which others can't dub and you can; or the same Indonesian dub where yours sounds more like a real speaker. Run it on YouTube and TikTok in the target language. The AutoDub approach of publishing an "AutoDub vs livdub" comparison page to capture search traffic can also be copied (effectiveness inferred, how much traffic it actually brings is unverified).

**Deadline** : there's no hard window, but it gets more crowded the later you wait. New copycats launched every month through 2026. Each time YouTube's auto-dubbing adds a language, or moves closer to default-on, the room in this layer shrinks.

**Signs you're wrong about this** : ① DubFlow breaks past 10k users in the next 60 days while its channels remain the ones listed above, which would show that SEO alone can work in this category; ② YouTube turns on auto-dubbing by default for viewers, or lets viewers tap "dub into my language" on any video, and the whole plugin category shrinks together, at which point even a C is too high; ③ livdub's and AutoDub's user counts stop growing or fall in early 2027, which would show demand has been absorbed by platform features.

## DubFlow (ytdubflow.com): a real-time AI dubbing extension for YouTube

> Chrome extension cbenhbnnjgfgkefhldiahgnecpanaplh, developer LumenPlus AI, published 2026-07-22. Research date 2026-11-06.

### Bottom line

DubFlow hasn't really broken out. In 3.5 months it reached about 1,000 users and 6 ratings. It entered one of the most crowded Chrome Store categories, with at least 40 extensions doing "real-time AI dubbing for YouTube." Its growth comes mainly from store search and long-tail SEO (keyword-stuffed titles, 55-language store pages, 19-language landing pages on the site), plus cross-promotion from its sister Youtube Transcripts extension. I found no evidence of content, creator, or media channels. Product-wise it has three engineering selling points: browser-side speech synthesis, unlimited Google Translate on the free tier, and replays of dubbed videos that don't consume quota. Low costs make a generous free tier possible. But that isn't enough to stand out. Peers AutoDub, livdub, and Tofu Dubbing grew an order of magnitude faster over the same period.

### 1. Data

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Users | 1,000 (11-01 to 11-06 every day is 1,000) | chromestore library item_snap |
| 90-day curve | 204(9/1) → 540(10/4) → 982(11/1), +460 over 30 days | Recall card (extops reading; extops_series doesn't store points for this id, not re-verified) |
| Rating | 4.5 / 6 ratings | Store page |
| Version | 1.19.0,2026-11-03 update; store page lists 55 languages | Store page (read via Jina) |
| Pricing | Free: unlimited Google Translate, no login; LLM translation capped at 3 distinct videos per day. Pro is $49.99 per year (page says "save 17%", implying about $4.99/month), paid via Stripe. | ytdubflow.com/extension/pricing |
| Developer portfolio | LumenPlus AI: Youtube Transcripts (3,000 users, 2026-04-21), DubFlow (1,000), Unraw Manga (177,2026-08-22) | chromestore developer / item tables |

Growth is a smooth, modest climb with no sign of inflated installs. Still, 1,000 users is low for this category.

### 2. Competitors (the whole category, far more than "crowded")

Searching the chromestore database for dub / voice translat / video translat in names and descriptions turns up 40+ extensions for YouTube dubbing and translation. The main ones:

| Name | Date | users | Rating | How it differs from DubFlow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Immersive Translate | 2022-11 | 3M | 4.6/3,231 | A general-purpose translation extension; dual-language video subtitles are one feature among many. Far larger in scale and brand. |
| YouTube Dubbing – Translate & Dub(youtube-dubbing.com) | 2023-06 | 200k | 3.5/778 | The category leader. Supports GPT / Claude models and has a Firefox version. Low rating. |
| Video Translator / TransMonkey(livepolls.app) | 2023–24 | 80k + 70k | 2.9 / 1.9 | Same developer, two accounts, scaled through paid acquisition. Very poor ratings. |
| livdub | **2026-07-23** (launched just one day after DubFlow) | 60k | 4.6/81 | Launched the same period at 60x DubFlow's scale. Has in-app purchases and public pricing. |
| iTour Video Translation | 2021-12 | 50k | 4.5/1,954 | An older product from a Chinese author. |
| AutoDub(autodub.net) | 2025-12 | 30k (9/1 hrs 7,000,11-01 → 11-07, from 20k to 30k) | 4.3/88 | Growing fastest in the category. Has Chrome and Firefox versions and dual-language subtitles. The store page lists it as related to DubFlow. |
| Tofu Dubbing | 2026-03 | 30k | 4.6/1,124 | Unusually high review count, likely solicited. |
| CCDub | 2020-07 | 30k | 4.6/1,121 | Skews toward Chinese-speaking users. |
| TranslateTube | 2025-12 | 20k | 4.1/260 | Nearly identical positioning. |
| DubTab / YouTranslate / LingTube / VoxTube / EarDub / DubMog / VidLingo / HearSub / TubVox / FlowSync … | 2026 years | A few hundred to 10k | — | A pile of similar new launches, many only a few weeks ahead of or behind DubFlow. |
| **Name collision** : DubFlow: Real-time AI Translation (KINGAGENTAI) | 2026-04 | 248 | 3.0 | Live interpretation covering Zoom, Meet, and Netflix. Also dubflow.pro (a multi-platform video dubbing site) and an Android app, "DubFlow: Fast AI Video Dubbing." |
| Big-platform feature: YouTube auto dubbing | Open to all eligible creators from 2026-02, 27 languages | — | — | Native to the platform, but creators have to opt in, and many videos have no dubbed audio track. That gap is where third-party extensions survive, and it's also the biggest threat to them. |

Sources: chromestore database item / item_growth / extops_item (2026-11-07 batches); YouTube Blog 2026-02-04 "auto dubbing for everyone"; languolabs.com 2026-02-12.

**Bottom line** : DubFlow entered years late and has no scale advantage. livdub, which launched the same day, already has 60k users. So the problem isn't a lack of demand for the category; it's DubFlow's weak distribution.

### 3. Growth tactics (evidence)

- **Store search / keyword-stuffed title** (confirmed): the title "YouTube Video Translator, AI Dubbing & Real-Time Voice Over" covers translator, dubbing, and voice over search terms. The store page has 55 language versions, which captures minor-language searches.

- **Multilingual SEO on the official site** (confirmed): ytdubflow.com has landing pages in 19 languages, including minor ones like fa, lt, vi, and hi. The blog is empty, with no articles. Searching "ytdubflow" on Jina ranks 5, but it doesn't rank for generic queries.

- **Cross-promotion across own portfolio** (confirmed): the yoututranscript.com footer (Youtube Transcripts, 3,000 users) links to "DubFlow YouTube video translator & AI dubbing." The DubFlow site footer links back to Transcripts and Unraw Manga. Both products serve YouTube viewing, so the audiences overlap.

- **Directories / backlinks** (confirmed, small scale): SaaSHub (2026-10-04 listed), Stork.AI, Nicheloom launches, ExtWise, and extwatch all have pages, which looks like routine bulk submission to directories for backlinks.

- **Store "related extensions" slot** (confirmed): the store groups DubFlow with AutoDub, TranslateTube, LingTube, and others, which is passive traffic.

- **X / TikTok / Reddit / media** : x-radar searches for ytdubflow, DubFlow, and lumenplus return 90 posts over 0 days. TikHub finds no related videos for dubflow. The Reddit "dubflow" results are same-name users unrelated to the product. **No content or creator channels found.**

- **Paid acquisition** : no evidence. The curve is smooth and the user count is only 1,000, which doesn't look like paid acquisition.

### 4. Why it got this far

1. **The demand is real, and a platform event amplified it** : YouTube 2026-02 rolled out auto-dubbing to all creators, which made "listen to YouTube in your language" a mainstream idea. Videos without a dubbed audio track are left for extensions to fill. The category has spawned a dozen-plus new products in 2026 years, and livdub and AutoDub have both reached tens of thousands of users.

2. **Generous free tier, near-zero cost** : Google Translate is unlimited with no login, and dubbing is synthesized client-side (the site says "client-side dubbing"). Replays use a cache and don't use up quota. The marginal cost is low, so it can afford to skip gating and lower the barrier to trying it.

3. **The paid hook is translation quality** : the free tier's LLM translation covers only 3 videos a day, and Pro is $49.99 a year. An older pricing snapshot stored by Stork.AI listed "free: 3 videos a day; Pro: 12 hours a day." That suggests the free tier was later loosened to unlimited Google Translate, with paid tiers now charging for LLM quality.

4. **Long-tail SEO plus a cross-promotion network** brings steady small traffic. This is 1,000's main user source (an inference, since no other channel turned up).

### 5. Differentiation

- Differentiators in its marketing: dubbing is timed sentence by sentence to the subtitle timeline, so the voice doesn't drag and fall behind; the original audio is lowered to about 5% rather than muted; it states plainly that it does no voice cloning; there's a one-click toggle; and a dubbed video replays instantly without using quota.

- **Most of this competitors have too** : AutoDub, TranslateTube and DubTab all advertise real-time dubbing, bilingual subtitles and lowered original audio. The only things DubFlow really has that are rare are two points: "free unlimited Google Translate, no login" and "replays from cache don't use quota." Both are cost-structure optimizations, not product differences users can clearly feel.

- The name DubFlow also collides with at least 3 other products (a KINGAGENTAI extension, dubflow.pro, an Android app), which splits brand search.

- **Verdict** : the differentiation isn't obvious, and it isn't why the product grew. It grew on category demand and SEO volume.

### 6. Visibility and copycats

- Visibility: **few people know about it yet** . X, TikTok and Reddit each show 0 results, with no press coverage and no public revenue (not found on TrustMRR), only auto-generated pages from directory sites.

- Copycats: it's hard to say who copied whom. The category is highly undifferentiated, with more than a dozen near-identical launches in 2026 years (VoxTube, EarDub, DubMog, VidLingo, HearSub, TubVox, FlowSync, Dubingo and others), and DubFlow is one of the followers.

### 7. Takeaways

- Client-side dubbing plus free machine translation, with paid tiers selling only LLM quality: this minimizes inference cost, which is what lets the free tier be generous. It suits AI tool extensions.

- The same developer runs a small portfolio around the same use case (watching YouTube), with footer cross-links on the websites and related listings in the stores.

- Keyword-stuffed titles, store pages localized into 55 languages, and landing pages on the website in 19 languages. This ASO/SEO playbook costs almost nothing.

- A cautionary tale: in a red ocean where existing products already have 200k, 60k and 30k users, relying only on SEO volume got it to 1,000 in 3 months. livdub, launched the same day, reached 60k; its channels are worth breaking down separately.

### 8. Uncertain

- The 90-day curve comes from the extops readings in the recall card. No data point is stored for this id, so it couldn't be verified.

- Paying users and revenue are unknown; the monthly price is inferred from the "save 17%" label.

- Whether it ran YouTube ads or worked with creators wasn't checked; only TikTok and X were searched, and YouTube videos weren't.

- Why livdub and AutoDub grew fast was not investigated.
