Vietnamese homeroom teachers must fill in hundreds of boxes at the start of the school year; an IT teacher built a plugin, one video 820k views

What it is A Chrome extension: Vietnamese homeroom teachers open the Ministry of Education's CSDL or VnEdu system, click once, and hundreds of boxes in the homeroom handbook are filled from templates; teachers check them and save themselves. It's paid through the author's own website account.

Why it took off A 2026 regulation made the homeroom handbook a mandatory electronic record that has to be filled in at the first September school start; the author is a teacher-blogger with 32k followers, and two days after listing posted a Reel that got 820k views and drove teachers straight to the store.

BHow you could follow this Don't just build another one in Vietnam; swap the country and profession and copy the approach: find official web systems that are mandatory, have heavy data entry, and must be refilled every cycle; list an in-page one-click fill plugin where users save it themselves before the new rule's first deadline; and have someone with followers in that profession post a short video explaining the policy and demoing the tool.

Grade B: the playbook is clear, few people know about it, and plenty of open space remains in other countries or professions; but the volume depends on the author's own professional-circle followers, the demand spikes only once a year, average revenue per user is very low, and any system redesign means having to update it. Circulating in small circles

6,000 users · rating 4.0 (5)

"Hỗ trợ Sổ chủ nhiệm CSDL & VnEdu" is a Chrome extension only for Vietnamese homeroom teachers: open the Ministry's system, click once, and hundreds of boxes in the electronic "homeroom handbook" get filled with template content. It was listed in September 16, and reached 6,000 users within 7 weeks. The plugin itself isn't complicated; what's valuable is three things: a new regulation, a fixed school-start date, and the author's own 32k followers.

Three days after listing

2026 September 18 at 3:54 pm, the Facebook page "Thầy Giáo Tin" ("IT Teacher") posted a Reel with just two sentences: "Under Circular 15/2026, homeroom teachers must complete the homeroom handbook on top of lesson plans. This plugin saves everyone time on that record 👇"

By November 6, the video had 819k views, 6.5K likes, and 198 comments. The page has 31,958 followers, and the views are over 25 times the follower count, showing Reels recommendations pushed it beyond the follower base. The comments read like a customer-service group; 6 weeks earlier a teacher named Chung Hoàng commented: "Teacher, I picked a student as a group leader, but after grouping they're not in group one 😭", and the author replied.

The plugin was listed two days earlier. In other words, the author put the plugin up first, then immediately posted the video, timing it for the weeks of September school start when homeroom teachers first had to build the handbook under the new rules.

What it is

Vietnamese primary and secondary homeroom teachers must build the electronic handbook in one of two web systems: the Ministry's industry database CSDL ngành giáo dục, or VnEdu from VNPT. The systems only provide blank forms one by one: class rules, grouping, seating charts, the homeroom plan, the monthly plan and end-of-month review for each month of the year, monthly conduct grades, and the year-end summary, all of which teachers must type in by hand.

The plugin recognizes which system you're on and which section (grade 7.8.1 for lower secondary, grade 7.9 for primary), then fills the template in one click. When writing the homeroom plan, you click a few class-characteristic tags and it assembles a full paragraph. Templates can be edited in the settings page and reused next year. One line in the store description addresses teachers' biggest worry: most content is "filled only onto the screen, and the teacher checks it and clicks save themselves," no student data is collected, and operations that write directly into the system, like grouping, show a confirmation dialog first.

The store only shows rounded figures, so below 10k you can't see how much it grew each day. The early-November stretch stayed at 6,000, so the growth mostly happened from mid-September to the end of October.

Why now

The rule created the demand, and gave it a date. Vietnam's Ministry of Education circular No. 15/2026/TT-BGDĐT (Thông tư 15/2026/TT-BGDĐT) was issued in Mar 24 and took effect in May 10. It cut the paper records teachers must submit down to one or two items, and the homeroom teacher's must-do is now the lesson plan plus the homeroom handbook, mostly in electronic form (reported by Vietnam's Giáo dục Thời đại, giaoduc.net.vn 4-12). The first school year after the new rule took effect is September, when schools were sending teachers guides to the CSDL handbook, such as the one a Ho Chi Minh City junior high posted in Sep 14. The extension went live on Sep 16, just two days later.

The author is the channel. Thầy Giáo Tin was already a blogger in Vietnam's teacher community, with two sites: giaoviendoimoi.com, which sells classroom games and AI lesson-prep tools and has been up for about a year, and giaovienchunhiem.com, which handles class conduct management. Both sites promote the extension as one module, with tutorial videos on the page and a "Install from Chrome Web Store" button. 820k plays brought in 6,000 installs, with under 1% conversion, and that traffic cost almost nothing.

He has run this playbook before. In May 2026, he released another extension, "Tiện ích nhận xét CSDL, VnEdu, SMAS", which auto-fills student comments across the same systems. By Nov 6 it had 5,000 users and a rating of 4.3. This time he just swapped the target: duplicate entry in government systems, one-click fill, a Facebook video walkthrough, and paid accounts on the website.

Where users come from

  • Facebook Reel: the one above, the main channel, confirmed.
  • Own website and existing users: the 5,000 teachers from the previous comment extension are a ready-made push audience. giaovienchunhiem.com can also export monthly conduct grades and paste them into the extension, so the site and the extension feed each other.
  • YouTube tutorial: "Quickly build the homeroom handbook on the national education database", posted Sep 23, 3,622 views, a supporting role.
  • Store search: search "tiện ích sổ chủ nhiệm" (homeroom handbook extension) in Vietnamese and it ranks first. How much volume that brings is unknown.

No sign of paid ads or influencer deals. No one has mentioned VnEdu on X in nearly 90 days, and no English-language media has covered it. People who know it are mostly in Vietnamese teachers' Facebook groups.

Where the money comes from

The store listing says no in-app purchases. Payment happens outside the extension: the description states it is "only for users registered for the service on giaovienchunhiem.com", and the extension uses Google sign-in to check whether you have access. The website's terms of use have a section on "Homeroom package (paid)", where premium features require a time-limited account, paid by in-site transfer or QR code. The homepage says "100% free trial", and prices only show after login.

A useful comparison is the price list on his main site: the full game bundle is 200k VND a year (about $8), and a single game is 30k VND a year. The page also says "games and education tools are all free during the anniversary promotion". So the extension is likely still free right now (inference). Even at full pricing, at this level and with a few thousand teachers, that's maybe tens of thousands of dollars a year (estimate, no revenue figures published). For him, the extension looks more like a signup funnel for the membership site than a standalone business.

In the store, the only plugin that handles both CSDL and VnEdu and focuses on the homeroom handbook. Vietnamese teachers have complained for a long time that "it's digital now, but you still have to do it twice". The reason is that the web handbook can't be filled into the government system. This is the only one that writes directly into that page.

Copycats have already arrived, just not in this slot yet. Another extension with the same name is in the store (ID agpklibaaimcdhbeahhfjfojjianhchd), but it currently won't open. Whether it's the author's old version or an imitation is unverified. In Nov 2 and 3, several new small Vietnamese teacher extensions appeared in the store: "Nhận xét CSDL tự động" with 8 users and "Tool vnEdu THCS" with 2 users, both doing comments and teaching logs.

If it were you

B: It's late to compete with it in Vietnam, but this playbook is still rarely used in other countries or professions. What it shows you is where this kind of demand sits: government or institution-mandated web systems that must be used, involve huge volumes of entry, and have to be redone every cycle. When a new rule takes effect, a wave of people rushes to get the tool. Systems like this exist everywhere, yet few people build plugins for them. The weak points are also visible in this case: the traffic came from the author's own followers, the demand spikes only once a year, the price is a few dollars a year per user, and every system update means the plugin has to be fixed.

Who it suits: people already inside a profession, or who know bloggers with followers in that circle. Teachers, nurses, accountants, and customs brokers all qualify, as long as they must enter large amounts of data into an official website every month or semester.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants to build yet another homeroom handbook extension in Vietnam. The author has 32k followers, two websites, and a base of existing users, so you can't beat him on channels. It's also a poor fit if you have no network in the niche and can't get anyone to post videos for you. Relying only on store search, most small extensions of this kind stall at a few dozen to a few hundred users.

How to do it:

  • Watch the regulatory calendar. Find when the rule takes effect and when the first submission is due, then list one to two weeks before that date.
  • Only fill content on the page: put text on the screen and let the user check it and click save themselves. For anything that writes directly into the system, show a confirmation first, and state in the store listing that no data is collected. On government systems, those few sentences matter more than the features.
  • Offer the extension free to install, tie permissions to an account on your own site, verify with Google sign-in, and collect payment through the method locals use most (in Vietnam, QR transfers), not through the store.
  • Build a set of tools instead of one: comments, handbook, assessment forms, all sharing one account and one user base, with a new one added at each policy milestone.

How to get users: a vertical short video with a "policy explainer + screen recording demo", posted on the platform most used in that profession (Facebook Reels for Southeast Asian teacher communities). If you have no following, split revenue with or partner with bloggers in the niche. Use the comment section as customer support and reply to every comment.

When to launch: you must be live before the first deadline. If you miss the weeks before school starts, you'll have to wait for the next cycle, meaning the next semester or year.

Signs you misread it: ① The extension shows no new wave of growth by next September's school opening (for example, never reaching 10k), meaning this kind of demand is used up in one go and users don't stick around. ② The Ministry of Education or VNPT adds templates and one-click fill to the system, meaning the official side catches up faster than you expected. This risk applies to any system. ③ The system you found hasn't produced any private Zalo sales, web versions, or blogger tutorials more than a month after the new rule took effect, which likely means nobody urgently needs it, not that nobody noticed it.

Why Hỗ trợ Sổ chủ nhiệm CSDL & VnEdu (Chrome extension) took off

Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: our chromestore library (item / item_snap, from 2026-11-01), direct scrapes of Chrome Web Store pages, and Facebook / YouTube / competitor sites (read via Jina).

Bottom line

A Vietnamese teacher blogger, "Thầy Giáo Tin" (operator of giaoviendoimoi.com / giaovienchunhiem.com) with 32k followers, spotted a policy change timed to the 2026 school year start: Thông tư 15/2026 cut teachers' paper records down to 1–2 books. The one thing homeroom teachers must do is the "Sổ chủ nhiệm" (homeroom teacher's book), and it has to be filed electronically on the Ministry's CSDL ngành or VnEdu. He built an extension that fills those hundreds of fields in one click from templates. Two days after launch he posted a Reel on his Facebook page that hit 819k views, and the extension reached 7 installs in 6000. This is creator-owned distribution + a policy window + getting into a slot nobody else had filled, and the extension itself is a funnel into his membership site.

1. What the product is

  • Store page: chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ejgphcgmhcbgallimkachfnlpgc…
  • 2026-09-16 on the store, version 1.0.10, last updated 2026-10-10. 6,000 users, rating 4.0 (5 ratings). Developer email [email protected], not a trader.
  • How it works: the extension recognizes whether the page is CSDL ngành giáo dục (the Ministry's sector database, 7.8.1 sections for lower secondary, 7.9 for primary) or VnEdu (built by VNPT, usable in every province), then fills the matching content in one click. That covers class rules, group assignments, seating charts, the homeroom plan (teachers tick class-trait tags, which get assembled into a full paragraph), the annual monthly plan and end-of-month reviews, monthly conduct grades, and the year-end summary. Templates can be edited on the settings page and reused the following year. Most fields only fill what's on screen, and the teacher checks it and clicks save.
  • Pricing: the description says it is "only for users who registered for the service on giaovienchunhiem.com", and the extension verifies access through Google sign-in. The terms of use in giaovienchunhiem.com's front-end code include a section "Gói dịch vụ "Chủ nhiệm" (trả phí)" (paid homeroom package), which says premium features require upgrading to a time-limited account, paid by in-app transfer or QR code. No public price on the site. The homepage reads "100% miễn phí dùng thử" (free trial). The same author's main site, giaoviendoimoi.com, has a public price list: all games 200,000 VND/year, a single game 30,000 VND/year. The page also says "1 anniversary: games and education tools (Tiện ích GD) are all free."

Verdict: on the Chrome Web Store, this is the only extension that covers both CSDL and VnEdu and specifically targets the "homeroom teacher's book" (in our library and in the store's related recommendations, we found nothing else). The same need is served only by scattered private sales on Zalo and web forms. Most Vietnamese teacher-tool extensions crowd into the "student comments" slot (TT27 / VnEdu comments). This one sidesteps it.

3. Growth: where users came from

  • Facebook Reel (confirmed, main channel): 2026-09-18 15:54, two days after launch, the "Thầy Giáo Tin" page posted a Reel captioned "Theo Thông tư số 15/2026/TT-BGDĐT thì ngoài Giáo án ra, thầy cô giáo viên chủ nhiệm còn phải làm Sổ chủ nhiệm. Tiện ích này sẽ giúp thầy cô tiết kiệm thời gian…" (Under Circular No. 15/2026/TT-BGDĐT, homeroom teachers must keep a homeroom register in addition to lesson plans. This extension helps save time…). The numbers are 819k views, 6.5K likes, 198 comments (as read on 2026-11-06, www.facebook.com/thaygiaotin90/videos/1669119994814900/). The page has 31,958 followers, so this video got more than 25× its follower count, which means Facebook Reels recommendations pushed it beyond the existing audience. The comments are real usage feedback, such as "after grouping, the group leader isn't in group 1", and the author replied to them.
  • YouTube tutorial (confirmed, supporting): 2026-09-23 posted a tutorial, "Quickly Create Class Teacher Logs on the National Education Database" (dhoQ7bzHEXk), with 3,622 views; the channel has about 5.6K subscribers. The video is also embedded on giaovienchunhiem.com, alongside an "Install from Chrome Web Store" button.
  • Own sites and migration of existing users (confirmed): giaoviendoimoi.com (live for about a year, with a set of classroom games and AI lesson-prep tools) and giaovienchunhiem.com (class conduct management) both promote the extension as one module. giaovienchunhiem.com also lets you "export monthly grades and paste them into the extension", which closes a loop between site and extension. Teachers from the previous comment extension (2026-05,5,000 users) are a natural audience to push to.
  • Policy event (confirmed): Thông tư 15/2026/TT-BGDĐT was issued on 2026-03-24 and took effect 2026-05-10. Teacher records are now primarily electronic, and homeroom teachers are left with two items: lesson plans and the homeroom book (giaoduc.net.vn 2026-04-12; thuvienphapluat). The September school-year start is exactly when homeroom books are first built under the new rules, and schools are publishing CSDL / VnEdu filing guides (such as the guide from THCS Trần Huy Liệu in Ho Chi Minh City 2026-09-14).
  • Store search: searching "tiện ích sổ chủ nhiệm" in Vietnamese puts it first. But how much traffic store search actually brings can't be verified.
  • No evidence of paid ads, influencer hiring, or posts on X / Reddit / HN (searching VnEdu on x-radar turned up 0 posts in 90 days; searching TikTok for "sổ chủ nhiệm csdl" didn't surface the author's videos either).

User curve: our library only captured 2026-11-01 onward at 6,000 (11-01, 11-03, 11-05 are all 6,000, and the rating count went from 4 to 5), so the growth happened from mid-September to late October. The store shows approximate figures below 10k, so daily gains under 6,000 can't be seen. extops has no curve for it (at recall time: 404).

4. Why it took off

  1. The policy created real demand and tied it to a fixed date: TT15 compressed homeroom paperwork into "lesson plan + homeroom book", and the book has to be filed electronically on CSDL / VnEdu. Every homeroom teacher has to fill hundreds of fields once each September, so demand spikes in the first few weeks of the school year.
  2. Creator-owned distribution: a teacher blogger with 32k followers, plus Reels recommendations, got one video to 820k views. Against 6,000 installs, the conversion from views to installs is under 1%, but the cost was nearly zero.
  3. The playbook was already proven: the 2026-05 comment extension reached 5,000 users, and this launch copied the same approach: repeated data entry on government systems + one-click extension fill + Facebook video tutorials + a membership site.
  4. Picked a slot nobody was filling: nearly every similar extension does comments. This one does the homeroom book, supports two systems in one extension, and detects on its own which system and which section the teacher is on.
  5. Addressed teachers' worries: the content "only fills what's on screen, the teacher checks it and saves it themselves", "collects no student data", and operations that write directly into the system, such as grouping, show a confirmation first. These lines directly ease fears about errors and rule violations.

5. Differentiation, and is it the reason it's taking off?

The differentiation is that it writes directly into the government system's pages, covers both the CSDL and VnEdu systems, handles every section of the homeroom book at both secondary and primary level, and lets templates be edited and reused year after year. giaovienso.net, dayhoc.id.vn, and gvso.vn each build a separate book on their own websites, and teachers still have to copy it into CSDL / VnEdu afterward, which is the "digitized, but you still do it twice" complaint common in Vietnamese teacher media.

This differentiation is why it got picked: it's the only one that truly removes the hand typing. But the volume came from creator channels and the policy window, not from organic growth in the store. Similar small-author extensions mostly stall at dozens to hundreds of users.

6. How many people have seen it

  • Revenue isn't public, and it isn't on TrustMRR. Paid-plan prices are only visible after logging in.
  • It spread widely in Vietnamese teacher circles: one Reel with 820k views, and people in FB groups copied it for private sale. But almost nobody outside Vietnam noticed: our X corpus has 0 for it, and no English-language media coverage.
  • Assessment: it's circulating in a small community, and that community is Vietnamese teachers on Facebook.

7. Copycats

  • We haven't yet seen a direct clone of its extension in the store. There is another listing with the same name (agpklibaaimcdhbeahhfjfojjianhchd, description "Hỗ trợ làm số chủ nhiệm trên csdl"), and it currently opens to "Item not available". It could be the author's old version or a duplicate upload, or it could be a knockoff; unverified.
  • Private sales: Nam Hải's post in the FB group (2026-09-29), and TikTok @airdop79 (2026-10-02, "one-click VnEdu and SMAS books"), both dated after its breakout Reel.
  • In early November, several small Vietnamese teacher extensions appeared in the store: "Nhận xét CSDL tự động" (11-02,8 users), "Tool vnEdu THCS" (11-02,2 users), and "Sổ Nhẹ — Trợ lý sổ đầu bài" (11-03,0 users). This shows people are copying the "one-click CSDL / VnEdu fill" idea, but mainly for comments and lesson logs, not the homeroom book.

8. What to borrow

  • Find government- or school-mandated web systems that are hard to use (high entry volume, refilled every term), and build an extension that fills templates in-page with user review before saving, launching in the first cycle after a new regulation takes effect.
  • Use an established vertical professional blogger as the distribution channel: Facebook Reels reach far beyond follower counts in Southeast Asian teacher communities, and one video that explains the policy and demos the tool is enough.
  • A free extension, with access rights tied to the website account: it checks payment by logging in with Google. The store listing stays "no in-app purchases"; payment happens on their own site through a Vietnamese QR-code bank transfer, not Chrome Payments.
  • One author, a set of tools: comment writers, homeroom teacher handbooks, professional standards assessments and more, sharing one account and audience, with a new tool released at each policy milestone.

9. Still unclear

  • Paid conversion and pricing are invisible: the price of the "homeroom teacher bundle" and how many people pay for it. The main site is running a free anniversary promotion, so the extension may be free for now too.
  • How many of the 6,000 installs are active users who actually fill in the handbook isn't knowable. The store only shows rounded numbers.
  • Who owns the delisted ID with the same name.
  • The demand is seasonal: a spike at each school-year start, with sporadic use for monthly plans and end-of-term summaries. Whether it keeps growing after November depends on whether the end-of-term summary feature brings people back.
  • How much of the traffic comes from store search can't be separated out.
