# "Deleted 43,838 tweets!": TWAFFLE, the Korean Twitter account manager that turned an API shutdown into a monthly subscription business

**What it is** A Korean-language Chrome extension that helps Korean Twitter users run RT giveaways, bulk-delete tweets and unlike posts, do chain blocks, and organize followers. Priced monthly per account.

**Why it took off** In 2023, X started charging for its API. The old free cleanup and block tools shut down, and TWAFFLE stepped in to handle the regular tweet-cleaning and RT-giveaway needs of Korean Twitter. Each time you finish a run, it auto-posts a tweet tagged #TWAFFLE promoting itself. It was free at first to build the habit, then it started charging by account count.

**B** **How you could follow it** Don't do it in Korea. Build a Japanese version: after 黒歴史クリーナー and ツイ消し職人 shut down, Japan has only a few single-function free tools left. Giveaways free, cleanup billed monthly per account, copy the auto-shared tweet trick, and use LINE for support and payment.

Grade B: the model has been proven, people pay for it, and Japan does have a gap. But the Korean position can't be copied, revenue is modest (estimated a few thousand dollars a month), and the whole thing rests on bulk operations that break X's terms. An X redesign, account bans, or a Chrome takedown could knock it out at once. Whispered in niche circles

TWAFFLE (트와플) is a Korean-language X account management tool. It does RT giveaways, bulk tweet deletion, bulk unliking, chain blocking, and follower organization, priced monthly from $3 per account. It only hit the Chrome store at the end of June, and reached 10k users in 3 months. But it isn't new: after X began charging for its API in 2023, a batch of free tools shut down, and since then TWAFFLE has taken over that user base in Korean Twitter. This time it just moved old users from desktop programs to the browser. Three things are worth learning: its timing, its getting users to promote it by posting tweets for it, and how it collects money. If you want to follow it, the opportunity is not Korea but Japan.

### An auto-generated tweet

TWAFFLE", meaning "I finished cleaning my tweet inbox with the TWAFFLE cleaner, 43,838 tweets deleted in total! #TWAFFLE for tweet cleaning and chain blocking, it's TWAFFLE".

The user didn't write this. Each time a cleanup or chain block finishes, TWAFFLE generates a tweet like this for the user, with only the numbers changing. You can find a lot of them on X: someone cleared 13,458 likes, someone blocked 100 people in one go. The chain-block template even includes an ad slot: "(광고) 이 자리에 광고하실 광고주님을 찾습니다", meaning "(Ad) Advertisers wanted for this spot" (@aken_talking, 2024-10-27).

Korean Twitter has a few fixed habits: periodically clearing old tweets and likes, called "트청"; fandom and doujin communities using RT giveaways to hand out merch; and, when someone starts a fight, blocking them along with their followers, called "체블". TWAFFLE packed these into one tool, and every use shows each user's followers its name once more.

### Why it: the API shutdown in 2023

In 2023 X shut off the free API, and the tweet-cleaning and blocking tools that relied on the official API either began charging or stopped updating. Red Block, the chain-block tool Korea had used for years, put this on its store page: "Due to Twitter API restrictions, we had to stop development."

In 2023 Jun 25, developer @_twaffle_ released the first version (a Windows desktop program), with a single selling point: **"A third-party program that works regardless of API fees"** . That tweet got 34.3M views. It doesn't use the official API. It works with the account state users already have logged in on the web, so X's API shutdown didn't hurt it. The cost is that every time X's web version changes, it has to be fixed. This year in 22 Aug, X redesigned the web profile page, and in September it ran A/B tests that split the timeline into tweets, replies, reposts, images, and videos. TWAFFLE pushed emergency updates both times (per @_twaffle_'s update notes).

Over the next two years it became the default answer in Korean blogs and communities. In Naver blogs, the top result for "Twitter cleanup tool roundup" was TWAFFLE. Tistory has giveaway-picker tutorials, and a theqoo forum user wrote "searching for tweet cleanup tools only turns up ㅌㅇㅍ" (ㅌㅇㅍ is short for 트와플). I found no sign of it buying ads or recruiting influencers.

### The two days the fee started

Free first, charge once users have the habit. In 2024 Nov 4, the developer publicly posted the numbers from before and after the fee change (this tweet got 65k views):

- Before the fee, users deleted an average of **1.3M tweets** a day with it;

- On the Friday and Saturday after the fee announcement, **10.3M tweets** were deleted, as users rushed to clean up before charges began;

- After the fee, 30 to 400k tweets a day;

- "Contrary to what I feared, many people joined as members. The two days of fees brought in more than all the tips since launch, plus the combined earnings from the blog and Twitter."

Pricing is by X account count (Patreon membership page, 11-06): 1 account $3/month, 2 accounts $5.5,3, 7.5,4 accounts $9. This pricing reflects that Korean Twitter users often have several accounts: a main account, an alt, and a fan or work account. Korean users can pay via KakaoPay or bank transfer, and enter "/결제" in the Kakao channel to activate. Overseas users go through Patreon. In 2025 August, it raised prices for new Patreon users, saying "Overseas payments are cheaper than domestic ones, so a lot of people paid and cancelled right away."

Tweet cleaning is a recurring task. One blogger said they clean "once a month or whenever I remember" (trcomic.tistory.com), and others say "I feel uneasy if I don't clean at least once a day." That makes a monthly subscription workable.

The developer hasn't said how many people actually pay. Its Kakao channel has **26,947 friends** (11-06), more than the Chrome store's user count, and support, payments, and notifications all run through that channel. Based on these rough figures, monthly revenue is likely a few thousand dollars (inference, unverified).

### How the Chrome store's 10k users came in

In 2026 Jun 28, the developer pinned an announcement: the desktop program was "limited by login, operating system, and unblock issues," so they rebuilt it as a Chrome extension that works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. The free tier is split like this: giveaways are unlimited; tweet deletion, like removal, chain blocking, and follower organization are each capped at 50 (people) per month; follower change analysis and tweet backup are members-only. Making giveaways free was the right call, since people who run giveaways usually post the results with a screenshot, and every participant sees the tool's name.

The third-party extension stats sites show Sep 1 7k, Sep 21 9k, and Oct 4 to 10k. The Chrome store showed a steady 10k from Nov 1 to 6, with only 2 ratings. In 3 months it reached 10k, with almost no one leaving ratings. That points to old users installing it after seeing the announcement, rather than new users finding it through store search (inference).

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | Where | Scale | How TWAFFLE compares |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red Block, Twitter Block Chain | Chrome (no longer updated) | Used to be the standard for Korean chain blocking | Shut down after the API fees; the users they left behind were picked up by TWAFFLE |
| queeeeeeee's TwitterUtility, etc. | Open source on GitHub, needs manual loading | 54 / 38 star | Free, not updated after 2023 years |
| 꿀꿀이 트청, ketrewq/tweet-deleter | Downloaded zip / open source on GitHub | Download count unknown / 32 stars | Free, only tweet cleaning; once TWAFFLE started charging, bloggers used these as replacements |
| 트윗 청소기 | Chrome, listed in 2026-07-29 | 1,000 users | Korean, only tweet cleaning, listed right after TWAFFLE |
| DeleteTweets and other English extensions | Chrome | The largest, with 10k users and 134 ratings | Deletion only, no giveaways or chain blocking |
| TweetDeleter, TweetEraser, Redact | Web service | International products | English, expensive, some require uploading your Twitter archive first |
| X official | — | — | Can't bulk-delete tweets, no giveaway tool, no chain-block |

Every single feature has a free substitute. But Korean language support, several features bundled together, someone fixes it when it breaks, and you can pay them directly: only it has all of these. Every time it charges or raises prices, a wave of 'free alternative' posts shows up, but so far nobody has copied its whole model.

### Can we copy it? Skip Korea, Japan has an open slot

Korea's slot is already taken by it. It has been running there for three years, with 34.3M views on its launch tweet, a 27k-subscriber Kakao channel, and reputation built up over time. Latecomers can't differentiate there.

Japanese Twitter habits are almost the same as Korea's: deleting tweets is called 'ツイ消し', RT giveaways are called 'プレゼント企画', there are lots of alt accounts, and lots of people block. But Japan's tools have been shutting down one after another. 「黒歴史クリーナー」, which had been running since 2013, shut down in February 2023 because of an API change; 「ツイ消し職人」, which sold for ¥700 as a one-time purchase, also stopped in Nov 2025 28. A Japanese media outlet wrote in June 2026 a piece titled 'What to use now that 黒歴史クリーナー is gone', recommending free web tools like x-delete and English paid services like TweetDeleter (addness.co.jp). For giveaways there's a free tool called 「あたるってぃー」, and paid services exist for business giveaways.

Japan today looks a lot like Korea in 2023: the old tools are gone, and what remains each does only one thing. There's no Japanese tool that bundles several features, gets fixed when it breaks, and charges monthly.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : B. Worth a try, provided you can pass as one of the crowd in Japanese Twitter and accept that X could change its API at any time. Building a copy of Korea's TWAFFLE without adding anything new is pointless.

**Good fit for** : one or two people, with someone who can write Japanese tweets and knows how fandom and doujin circles talk. Ideally you use it on your own alt. The other person needs to watch X's web changes long-term and ship a fix the same day a redesign lands.

**Bad fit for** : anyone targeting the English market (DeleteTweets and others already saturate it, and English users don't have RT-giveaway or chain-block habits); anyone who can't handle platform risk (bulk actions violate X's terms, and the Chrome Web Store may pull you for the cookies + network request rewriting permissions); anyone expecting results in a few weeks (TWAFFLE took a year and a half from launch to charging).

**How to build it** : make a Chrome extension that uses the user's logged-in web session, not the official API. First version: giveaways and ツイ消し. Giveaways free, cleanup gets a small free quota monthly, then paid tiers at a few hundred yen per month by account count. Accept payment through methods Japanese users are used to. Support and notifications go through a LINE Official Account, matching TWAFFLE's Kakao channel.

**How to get users** : copy TWAFFLE's approach. After each cleanup, auto-generate a Japanese tweet with numbers and a tag (「ツイ消し完了!〇〇件削除しました #ツール名」). Format giveaway results so they're easy to screenshot and publish. The launch tweet should make one point: 黒歴史クリーナー and ツイ消し職人 are gone, this one still works. Then show up under 「ツイ消し 代わり」 questions on Japanese Q&A sites (chiebukuro) and blogs.

**Deadline** : live before the end of 2026. ツイ消し職人 only stopped a year ago, and people are still searching for replacements. If a Japanese tool fills this gap first, it's too late.

**Signs you've misjudged** : ① two months after launch, the auto-shared tag barely shows up on X, meaning Japanese users won't publicly share how many tweets they deleted, so the spread link is missing; ② lots of free giveaway users but nobody pays for cleanup; ③ X redesigns two or three times a year, each time it takes over a week to fix, or users start getting frozen for using tools, and the whole category gets hit; ④ the reverse: TWAFFLE releases a Japanese version, or a Japanese developer ships a bundled multi-feature tool first, and the gap is gone.

## TWAFFLE (트와플): the Korean Twitter scene's 'X account manager' Chrome extension

- Chrome Web Store ID: emkhbkdbkllelkdgjoiknpjolbkkgonn, category lifestyle/social, Korean-only

- Listed 2026-06-28, 1.0.10 (updated 2026-09-13), 10,000 users, rating 5.0 (2 reviews) (chromestore database, 2026-11-06)

- The developer '트와플 TWAFFLE' has only this one extension; website twaffle.net; payments go through Patreon, KakaoPay, and bank transfer; the store page doesn't list in-app purchases

### Bottom line

It's not a new product that suddenly took off. It's a tool brand that **built up in the Korean Twitter scene since 2023** , and in 2026 June it moved its desktop program to a Chrome extension and brought its old users along. Nearly all of the store's 10k users are migrated existing users: before the paid switch at 2024-11, users were deleting about 1.3M tweets a day with it. Users stayed and paid for three reasons: Korean Twitter users habitually do '트청' (clearing tweets/likes) periodically and run giveaways via RT; when X's API went paid in 2023, free tools broke en masse; and it's Korean-language, multi-feature in one, and fixed the same day when it broke.

### 1. Why it took off

#### 1.1 Starting point: in 2023, X's API went paid, and its tweet got 34.3M views

- On 2023-06-25, @_twaffle_ posted the first TWAFFLE version (a Windows desktop program, downloaded from premi3r.tistory.com), with the pitch '**a third-party program that works regardless of the API charges** ', plus 'much faster than other extensions'. The tweet showed **34.3M views** (https://x.com/_twaffle_/status/1673099266955558912).

- Timing: in 2023, X shut off the free API, and cleanup and giveaway tools that depended on the official API (free tiers of web services like TweetDeleter, Twitter Block Chain, and later Red Block) either went paid or stopped updating. Red Block's store page says 'Due to Twitter API restrictions, development had to stop' (store copy captured by chrome-stats). The demand remained, and no good free tool was left. It filled the gap.

- 发布帖里写「非营利,个人才能捐赠」「粉丝到 10 亿就 100 亿卖号跑路」:典型推特圈的口吻,很容易在圈内转开。

#### 1.2 Spread: each use auto-posts a tagged tweet

- After cleanup or blocking, the program generates a share tweet in a fixed format: 「TWAFFLE 청소기를 이용하여 트윗함 청소를 마쳤어요 총 43838 건의 트윗이 삭제 되었어요 ! #TWAFFLE 트청, 체블은 TWAFFLE.」 (Cleaned my tweet inbox with TWAFFLE, N tweets deleted! #TWAFFLE 트청, 체블은 TWAFFLE.) Many such tweets actually posted by users can be found, for example:
    - [x.com/kimfox0624/status/1907030403875316217](https://x.com/kimfox0624/status/1907030403875316217) (deleted 43,838 tweets)
    - [x.com/ing_11111/status/1884756827004670099](https://x.com/ing_11111/status/1884756827004670099) (cleared 13,458 likes)
    - [x.com/qkqhqkqhfl/status/1787387080211112357](https://x.com/qkqhqkqhfl/status/1787387080211112357)
    - [x.com/wkrmqwkwhrwnd/status/2004079980985438524](https://x.com/wkrmqwkwhrwnd/status/2004079980985438524)
    - The chain-block version also stuffs an ad slot into the tweet: 「TWAFFLE 체인블락을 이용하여 … 총 100 명을 블락 했어요 ! #TWAFFLE (광고) 이 자리에 광고하실 광고주님을 찾습니다」 (https://x.com/aken_talking/status/1850368112560054386)

- The giveaway feature also brings in new users: when fandom and doujin creators run 'RT giveaways', the host uses the picker, often screenshotting the results, so participants see the tool's name.

- Korean blogs and Q&A communities treat it as the default answer: a Naver blog post on 'Twitter cleanup sites and app organization' ranks TWAFFLE first (https://m.blog.naver.com/silverbin0409/222487100361); a tistory post titled 'RT giveaway picker - TWAFFLE download and usage' (https://flowerdeer23.tistory.com/1153); and on Naver Knowledge iN and theqoo forums, someone says 'if you search for 트청 you only find ㅌㅇㅍ (TWAFFLE)' (https://theqoo.net/twocha/3483014417 search excerpt).

- No evidence found of paid ads, influencer deals, or English-media coverage. The x-radar corpus returned 0 results for 'TWAFFLE' over the last 90 days (corpus skews English).

#### 1.3 Paid switch: after 2024-11 went paid, two days of earnings exceeded all previous tips

- 2024-09-30 Released the 'new TWAFFLE' desktop version (official update log [twaffle.net/업데이트-내역/](https://twaffle.net/업데이트-내역/)), and launched a Patreon membership page at the same time (first post 2024-11-11).

- 2024-11-04 The developer disclosed (https://x.com/_twaffle_/status/1853437804715671997,65.1K views): **before the paid switch, an average of 1.3M tweets were deleted per day; on the Friday and Saturday after the paid-switch announcement, 10.3M tweets were deleted** (users rushed to clean up before charges); **after the switch, 30–400k tweets a day** ; 'Contrary to my worries, many people joined as members; the two days of revenue exceeded the total of all tips plus blog and Twitter income since we started.'

- Pricing (Patreon membership page [www.patreon.com/TWAFFLE/membership](https://www.patreon.com/TWAFFLE/membership), 2026-11-06 read): monthly payments by X account count, **1 account $3, 2 accounts $5.5, 3 accounts $7.5, 4 accounts $9** . Korean users also have KakaoPay and bank transfer, which can be activated by typing '/결제' in the Kakao channel (https://twaffle.net/광고-및-멤버쉽-안내/). From 2025-08-28, Patreon raised prices for new users, reportedly because 'overseas payment prices are cheaper than domestic ones, and people paying then immediately cancelling spiked' (Patreon post excerpt).

- Per-account pricing fits how Korean Twitter users actually work: one person often has a main account, an alt (비계), and a work account.

- Retention comes from 'periodic cleaning': some people 'clean once a month or whenever they remember' (https://trcomic.tistory.com/42), others do '트청 every 1 days 1'. This is recurring demand, suited to monthly subscriptions.

- The TWAFFLE KakaoTalk channel has **26,947 friends** (https://pf.kakao.com/_UlmRn, 2026-11-06). Support, payments, and notifications to old users all run here. This number is larger than the store's 10k users, and it is their real user base.

#### 1.4 2026-06 moved to the Chrome Web Store: migrating existing users, not acquiring new ones

- 2026-06-28 pinned announcement (https://x.com/_twaffle_/status/2071211079464804608): the desktop program was 'limited by login, OS, and unblock (언블락) issues', so it was rebuilt as a Chromium extension that works on Win/Mac/Linux. Free tier: **giveaways unlimited** ; tweet cleanup, like cleanup, chain-block, and friend cleanup each 50 items/50 people per month; friend analytics and tweet backup for members only.

- The extension calls the internal web endpoints using the cookies of the user's already logged-in x.com session (permissions: cookies, declarativeNetRequest, scripting, sidePanel; domains x.com / twitter.com / abs.twimg.com / twaffle.net/api). Users don't hand over a username or password, and it keeps working even if X changes its login flow.

- Growth curve (recall card cites extops 90 days of data): 2026-09-01 7k → 09-21 9k → 10-04 10k. Chromestore library: from 11-01 to 11-06 it held at 10k, and the rating count stayed at 2. **3 months to 10k with almost no reviews** , which fits the pattern of old users being pulled to the store by an announcement, installing, and leaving. It is not organic growth from store search.

- The developer has been chasing X's redesigns: 1.0.7 handled "8/22 web version personal feed redesign," and 1.0.8 handled "A/B test splits the timeline into posts/replies/reposts/images/videos." Both were urgent updates (from the @_twaffle_ profile).

### 2. Competitors

| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from TWAFFLE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| queeeeeeee / 큐유이's TwitterCleaner, TwitterRandomRT, TwitterUtility | Open source (GitHub, load unpacked manually) | 2023-02 to 2023-09 | GitHub stars 38 / 6 / 54; after 2024-09, TwitterUtility got a Naver tutorial | Free, not on the store, requires developer mode; a single author's hobby project, updates stalled 2023 years ago |
| 꿀꿀이 트청 (@iz9_9r, published on Postype) | Open source / zip package | 2025 years, 2026-11-04 updated to v6.0 | Unknown (Postype download) | Free, only cleans posts; high installation barrier |
| ketrewq/tweet-deleter(@booleanistic) | Open source | 2025-05 | 32 star | Free, only cleans posts; 2025-07 tistory bloggers use it as the replacement after TWAFFLE started charging |
| 트윗 청소기(ioachblnoijmcnnhlpnodnjgdingjgoa) | Chrome | 2026-07-29 | 1,000 users, 1 ratings | Korean, only cleans posts, launched right after the TWAFFLE extension |
| DeleteTweets - Bulk Delete Tweets | Chrome | 2024-03 | 10,000 users, 134 ratings | English, global market, deletion only; the store lists it among TWAFFLE's related extensions |
| Delete Twitter Posts / Unlike X Tweets / X Mass Unfollow, etc. | Chrome | 2024–2025 | 2k–3k each | English or Japanese single-function tools, with no giveaway picker and no chain blocking |
| TweetDeleter / TweetEraser / Redact | Web / desktop SaaS | Years | International big accounts | English, expensive, some require uploading a Twitter archive; no giveaway picker or chain blocking; Redact is treated as a "free alternative" on Korean blogs |
| Twitter Block Chain / Red Block(가을별) | Chrome (no longer updated) | Around 2017 years ago / 2020 | Red Block was once the de facto standard for chain blocking in Korea | Development stopped after the API started charging, and TWAFFLE's "체인블락" took over the gap it left |
| X Picker (xpickr.com), Twitter Giveaway Picker, Twitter 추첨 위젯 | Web / Edge / Chrome | Years | International | Giveaways only, many rely on the official API |
| Control Panel for Twitter | Chrome | 2019 | 200,000 users | Changes how the interface displays; no bulk cleaning or blocking, not a direct competitor |
| X official | Big-company features | — | — | No bulk post deletion, bulk unlike, giveaways, or chain blocking; export-to-archive only |

Verdict: every single function has a free substitute, but **the only tool that combines Korean-language support, giveaways, cleaning, chain blocking, friend organizing/tracking, and backup in one place, is actively maintained, and can take payment directly is this one** .

### 3. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off

1. **Features built around the rituals of Korean Twitter** : RT giveaways (fandom and fan-merch giveaways), periodic 트청 (people afraid of old posts being dredged up, plus worries that "Twitter feeds posts to train AI"; on theqoo some people wanted to wipe old creative work for this reason), 체블 (chain blocking of the person who stirred up drama and their followers), and 트정 (organizing friends by filters such as mutuals, alt accounts, subscription accounts, and blue checks). Even the terms are in-group slang, which English tools can't match. **This is the main reason it took off.**

2. **Bypassing the official API** : it uses internal web endpoints plus the user's own login session, so the 2023-year API paywall became its opening. The cost is that every X redesign requires an urgent fix.

3. **Sharing posts for distribution** : each cleanup automatically posts a tweet with "#TWAFFLE 트청, 체블은 TWAFFLE," self-replicating on X. This is its main acquisition channel, at zero cost.

4. **Payments suited to Korean users** : KakaoPay, bank transfer, automatic activation through a Kakao channel; overseas users pay via Patreon. Pricing is per account, which fits multi-account use.

5. **Maintenance credibility** : frequent patch notes, a website with detailed tutorials and FAQ, Kakao customer support. In a category where tools can break at any moment when X changes, this alone is a moat.

### 4. Visibility

- Very well known within Korean Twitter circles: the launch tweet got 34.3M views over 2023 years, the Kakao channel has 27k friends, and there are plenty of Naver and tistory tutorials.

- But almost nobody outside that circle knows it: no English coverage, revenue is not publicly detailed (only a claim that "in two days it exceeded all previous tips"), and it isn't listed on TrustMRR. x-radar (mostly English) has not mentioned it in the last 90 days.

- Copycats: all free substitutes, and nothing close to copying the model yet: 꿀꿀이 트청, ketrewq/tweet-deleter, and the "트윗 청소기" extension listed on 2026-07-29. Each time it charges or raises prices, a wave of "free alternative" posts appears.

### 5. What others can learn

- **Catching the heavy small-language users left behind as the platform tightens its API** . Using internal web endpoints plus the user's login session is cheaper than the official API and more durable.

- **Let the product tweet for itself** : results ("deleted 43,838 posts") are written up as shareable, tagged posts to show off, which spreads the product.

- **Build the habit for free first, then charge monthly per account** . Users do a burst of cleaning between the announcement and the paywall, and the conversion numbers the developer shares look strong.

- This could be copied to the Japanese Twitter scene: it has the same large volume of ツイ消し (post deletion), プレゼント企画 (RT giveaways), and blocking culture, plus alt-account culture. Right now it's mostly scattered single-function tools (the recall card also notes this).

### 6. Uncertain

- Paid member count and monthly revenue are unknown. Only inferable from claims like "27k Kakao friends" and "two days' revenue exceeded all previous income," suggesting a scale of a few thousand dollars a month, **unverified** .

- Of the 10k users in the store, it's impossible to tell how many migrated from the desktop version versus being new.

- Since November it has stayed at the 10k tier, cause unknown: either the migration is done, or the store's rounded figure only jumps at 20k.

- Compliance risk: bulk operations violate X's terms, and X can change the endpoints or ban accounts at any time. The Chrome Web Store could also pull it over the cookies plus declarativeNetRequest permission combination.

- Who made the "트윗 청소기" extension, and whether it was built specifically in response to TWAFFLE's paywall, was not found.
