> The author is an admin for Bratishkin, a major Russian streamer. The streamer uses it on stream himself and shows off the cosmetics, and clips carrying the referral code get cut and shared out. The timing also helped: 7TV was blocked in Russia, and its server mirror lets people see the emotes without a VPN.

# A streamer's admin built a chat plugin that hit 10k installs in a month: Chatterino+ grew through the streamer's channel, not the store

**What it is** A Russian-language Twitch chat plugin that merges 7TV, BTTV and FFZ emotes into one plugin, adds a cross-channel ban list for moderators, and sells badges and name-color subscriptions for 189 rubles a month.

**Why it took off** The author is the moderator of Bratishkin, a major Russian streamer, who uses and styles it on stream, while clip accounts cut it out with a referral code. It also arrived just as 7TV was blocked in Russia, and its server mirror let people see the emotes without a VPN.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't copy this plugin directly. To follow, first find a streamer who'll use your tool on stream, make the local language version, merge emotes for free, sell badges and name colors for money, and turn the local block of a service into a mirror that's a subscription selling point.

C grade: the product itself has no technical moat, but its 10k users come from a top streamer's channel and the founder's endorsement, which followers can't get. What you can learn are two plays: "streamer + your own tool", and "turn a block into a paid feature". What people are saying

A Russian Twitch extension launched in Oct 7, reached 10k users and 4.7 stars in a month, and sells a 189 RUB/month subscription off-store. Its core feature is real: the 7TV emotes blocked in Russia show up without a VPN. But what really drove growth is that its maker sits in the chat of Bratishkin, one of Russia's biggest streamers. Here's what it is, where the users came from, where the money comes from, and what you can take from it.

### A clip with a referral code

On Oct 15, 2026, the YouTube clip channel zar (@zar_twitch) posted a video titled "БРАТИШКИН СМОТРИТ ВИДОСЫ НА СВОЁМ САЙТЕ И КАСТОМИЗИРУЕТ ПРОФИЛЬ CHATTERINO PLUS" (Bratishkin watches videos on his own site and customizes his Chatterino+ profile, then rates viewers' profiles). As of 11-06, it has 29,346 views.

A week later, on Oct 22, the same account posted again: "Bratishkin on Android and iPhone / Chatterino+ users hit a record," 19,015 views. Then on Nov 4 another one: "Chatterino+ is coming to Android and iOS / Bratishkin on the banned users / Rish demos the app." The first line of the video description reads `Chatterino - chat.eblo.id/sub?ref=zar_001`, a subscription link carrying the uploader's own referral code.

Who is Rish? He is a moderator in Bratishkin's chat. In October 2025, zar posted "БРАТИШКИН И ЗЛОЙ МОДЕРАТОР (РИШ)" (Bratishkin and the mean moderator Rish), 100k views. Rish wrote Chatterino+. The official site chat.eblo.id sits under eblo.id, a social site Bratishkin built himself, and its credits read "ПОДДЕРЖКА: bratishkinoff. РАЗРАБОТКА: MIRRONAKE, Rish098…" (Support: bratishkinoff. Development: MIRRONAKE, Rish098…).

In other words, this is a top streamer's in-house product.

### What it actually is

Chatterino is an open-source desktop chat client widely used by Twitch streamers and moderators. Chatterino+ is an unofficial fork. Its landing page tagline is "Тот самый Chatterino, но лучше" (The same Chatterino, but better). It runs on desktop (Windows / Linux) and also ships as a Chrome and Firefox extension that replaces Twitch's web chat with the Chatterino look.

The first line of the Chrome Web Store description reads "одно расширение вместо нескольких" (one extension instead of several):

- 7TV, BetterTTV, and FrankerFaceZ emotes all in one place. That used to take three extensions, which together have about 6M users on Chrome;

- Gradient name colors (paints), badges, and emote effects;

- Mod buttons, user cards, and polls;

- Its most distinctive feature is "shared bans": if someone was permanently banned in another channel, a mark appears next to their name, and you can click to see what they said before the ban. Mods can also ban them across all their channels in one click.

Fully Russian UI. The store name even includes the Russian spelling "Чатерино плюс," so Russian users searching for Chatterino find it.

### Why now

Two things came together.

**7TV was blocked in Russia.** In 2024 October, Roskomnadzor added 7tv.app to its blocklist (recorded by gazeta.ru and rknweb.ru). 7TV is the most popular third-party emote platform in Twitch chat, so Russian viewers either had to use a VPN or saw a jumble of unreadable text codes in chat. Chatterino+ mirrors 7TV / BTTV / FFZ on its own servers, and the top selling point on the subscription page is this line: "**7TV без VPN** — Смайлики и пейнты 7TV работают без сторонних программ" (7TV without a VPN: emotes and name paints work with no third-party software).

**The streamer was using it himself.** Before the extension launched, the desktop version had already spread among Bratishkin's viewers. In Aug 3, clip channel Bratishkin Rofls 2 posted "Bratishkin reads messages from users banned in other channels," 63,659 views, using the shared-ban feature. When the extension launched in Oct 7, the stream was a ready-made launch event.

### Where users come from

| Channel | Evidence | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Bratishkin streams + clip channels | Three zar Chatterino+ clips, 5k to 29k views (YouTube, 11-06), with referral code in the description | Main channel, confirmed |
| Referral commissions, gift codes | Author's Telegram channel: bring in paying subscribers for points; each subscriber gets a one-time gift code, in their words "чтобы он подсел на иглу" (so he gets hooked) | Confirmed |
| Same-circle Telegram channels and other streamers | The "Логово Внизу" channel posted "это наш форк чаттерино" (this is our Chatterino fork) | Confirmed, small reach |
| Badges and name colors spread on their own | Only people with Chatterino+ see the C+ badge and PLUS animated name colors. When a group in the chat uses them, people without it get pushed to install it | Inferred |
| Store search | The name is literally Chatterino | Partly |

I found no sign of paid ads, and no one discussed it in English media or on X. Nearly all users came from one streamer's chat and the circle around him.

The numbers: Chrome Web Store 10,000 users, 85 ratings, 4.7 stars (Chrome Web Store, 11-06); Firefox 578,11 ratings, all 5 stars (Mozilla Add-ons, 11-06); the official homepage says across all platforms "Всего пользователей 15,479" (11-06). Chrome's user count is shown in buckets, so once it passes 10k it stays at 10,000 for a while. A flat 11-04 to 11-06 over three days doesn't mean it stopped. Using the official site's count, it is still growing, just more slowly than in its first two weeks (inference). The store reviews show fans rating it: "the best on the world app for twitch!!! download now right now!!!" (10-16), "full respect" (10-11).

### Where the money comes from

You won't see any payment on the Chrome store because the money is collected off-store. The subscription page chat.eblo.id/chatterino/sub reads **189 ₽ в месяц** (189 rubles a month, about 2.3 USD). You log in with your Twitch account, pay, and get an activation code. You can pay with a T-Bank card or through Boosty. PLUS includes:

- 7TV without a VPN;

- A PLUS badge next to your name, upgraded by subscription months;

- Animated name colors ("Ник переливается, вращается и пульсирует": shimmering, rotating, pulsing);

- A name color editor and shared library, so you can equip someone else's design with one click;

- Custom avatars and backgrounds, including animated GIFs;

- Unlocks for blocked emote effects and early access to new features.

There's also a monthly "best name color" award. This is a standard paid "fan-circle identity" model: you pay to be seen in Bratishkin's chat room. How many people pay, and how much it makes, is not public, and how Bratishkin splits the revenue is unclear.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Scale (Chrome Web Store, 11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| BetterTTV | 3M users | English-language, emotes and chat enhancements only; no shared bans, no Russian mirror |
| 7TV official extension | 2M + 500k + beta 200k | The emote platform itself; in Russia you need a VPN |
| FrankerFaceZ | 1M | Established, feature-rich, mostly English |
| Chatterino 2 (official) | Desktop standard | Free and open source, desktop only, no paid cosmetics |
| Chatterino7 / Chatterino Homies | Homies mobile 10k+ downloads (official site) | Also a badge-and-cosmetics fork, but aimed at English users |
| TwiHD, XT Viewer, and other "watch Twitch 1080p without a VPN" tools | 40k to 70k | Riding the same "blocked in Russia" wave, but solving video quality |

Copycats I've seen so far are zero-user small extensions on the same pain point, such as Legion7TV (11-01 listed) and Emotik (7TV emotes for Boosty, 11-03 listed).

### Could you follow it?

There's no technical moat: Chatterino is open source, the 7TV, BTTV, and FFZ emote APIs are public, and two people could build a mirror server and a Russian-language extension in a few weeks. But nobody would see it. Chatterino+ has 10k monthly users because a top streamer keeps demoing it as his own product on stream, and clips spread the demos. A team without a streamer's backing that built the same features would most likely end up with a few hundred users (inference).

The shared-ban feature also only works at scale: the archive is built from public chat in large channels, and it gets more complete the more channels use it. A newcomer starts with an empty database.

The two real takeaways:

1. **"Streamer + in-house tool"** : have a KOL's mod or core fan build the tool. The live stream is the demo and the acquisition channel, and clip descriptions carry a referral code for revenue share. This works on any platform with big streamers, provided you're already close to one.

2. **Turn a block into a paid feature** : when a country blocks a service, reconnect it through a mirror server and package it as a subscription perk. Russia blocking 7TV is one case; TwiHD-style tools riding the same wave are another.

### If it were you

**Verdict:** C. Worth learning the playbook, but this specific product isn't a good bet for you: its most valuable part, Bratishkin's chat, isn't something you can get.

**Good fit for:** people who already are a big streamer's mod, editor, or technical helper, and can get the streamer to use the tool on stream. Also people with a community in a market where a service is blocked but viewers remain (for example, another country that has blocked Discord, Kick, or an emote platform).

**Not a good fit for:** people with no streamer relationships who plan to grow through organic Chrome store search, or anyone aiming to build a "Russian Chatterino+" to compete head-on. It already got there first in that circle, with a streamer personally promoting it.

**How to do it:** Find the people first, then write the code. Agree with a streamer on "they use it, you build it, subscription revenue split"; structure the product like Chatterino+: a free extension that merges all three emote providers and localizes, with a paid tier that sells only being seen (badges, animated name colors, custom avatars), plus local mirrors of blocked services. Take payments in the methods that work locally (they use T-Bank and Boosty).

**How to get users:** Streamers dress up their profile pages on stream, rate viewers' name colors, and announce user milestones. Each of these becomes a clip; each clip channel gets its own referral code. Subscribers get one-time gift codes.

**When it's too late:** There's no hard deadline. The opportunity rides on "a service got blocked in a country." Once the local block lifts, or the 7TV team builds its own mirror, the selling point is gone.

**Our math was off:** (1) The Chatterino+ website counter stalled around 16k before December and the mobile version never shipped. That suggests even the ones with a streamer endorsement only got one wave, so this route has a low ceiling. (2) Conversely, if a similar extension with **no streamer backing** reached several thousand users through store search alone, it would show demand matters more than channels, and a "VPN-free mirror + localization" play would be worth testing by itself. (3) If Twitch or the Chrome Web Store delists it for monitoring other channels' chat and aggregating ban records, then features like "shared bans" are off limits.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **Top streamer backing (Bratishkin's streams)** : eblo.id is a social network Bratishkin built himself; the developer credit reads "ПОДДЕРЖКА: bratishkinoff, РАЗРАБОТКА: Rish098…". The clip "Bratishkin customizes Chatterino Plus profile" has 29k views; "Chatterino record users" has about 18k views.

- **Verified** **YouTube clip channel with referral links** : the description of zar's videos (31k subscribers) links to chat.eblo.id with ref=zar_001.

- **Verified** **Referral rewards and gift codes** : Telegram t.me/rish098: bring in a paid subscription and redeem points; each subscriber gets one one-time gift code.

- **Verified** **Same-circle Telegram channels and other streamers** : "Логово Внизу" (nebudetgg) posted "это наш форк чаттерино" ("this is our Chatterino fork"); the MIRRONAKE channel wrote a how-to for subscribing.

- Inferred **Spread driven by badges and name colors only installed users can see** : the C+ badge and PLUS animated name colors only render in this client (per the official terms), which likely pushes viewers in the same channel to install it.

- Inferred **Store search (riding on the Chatterino name)** : the extension name uses Chatterino, and it includes the Russian spelling "Чатерино плюс".

## Chatterino+ (Чатерино плюс): why it could break out

> Chrome extension fhnndedhnphdfnhnalkjiijkeddaoafl, developer display name "Ebloid Corp.", website chat.eblo.id. Research date 2026-11-06.

### Bottom line

It's a product built by the team of **Bratishkin (bratishkinoff), one of Russia's top Twitch streamers** . The author, Rish (rish098), is a moderator in Bratishkin's channel, and the website sits under eblo.id, a social network Bratishkin built himself. Cold start came from Bratishkin using and demoing it live, with clips then pushed to YouTube. On the product side it targets a concrete pain point for Russian viewers: **7TV has been blocked by Roskomnadzor since 2024-10** . It offers server mirrors so "7TV works without a VPN," plus a fully Russian interface and moderator tools like "shared bans." It reached 10k Chrome users in about a month, mainly because of **existing audience (streamer traffic) + timing (the block)** , not because the product grew organically in the open market.

### 1. What it is

- An unofficial fork of Chatterino, the open-source desktop Twitch chat client. The landing page reads "Тот самый Chatterino, но лучше" ("That same Chatterino, but better"). It ships in three forms: Windows/Linux desktop client (v5.5.4), Chrome extension, and Firefox extension (source: chat.eblo.id landing page, read 2026-11-06).

- The Chrome extension restyles Twitch web chat in the Chatterino style. One extension bundles 7TV / BTTV / FFZ emotes, name gradient colors (paints) and badges, emote effects, moderation buttons, user cards, polls, and **shared bans** : it flags a person who was permanently banned in other channels, attaches their pre-ban message history, and lets you mass-ban across all channels you moderate in one click (source: Chrome Store description, website privacy terms section 5).

- **It charges money** , but the store doesn't show it because payment happens off-store. The PLUS subscription is **189 rubles/month** (about $2.3), payable by T-Bank card or Boosty. The selling points: "7TV without VPN," the PLUS badge, animated name colors, a name gradient editor and shared library, custom avatars and backgrounds, unlocked blocked emote effects, and early access to new features. There's also referral rewards (ref links), gift subscription codes, and a "best name color of the month" vote (source: chat.eblo.id/chatterino/sub/; Telegram t.me/rish098). Our card says "no in-app purchase or pricing signals" because the money is collected off-store.

### 2. Data

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome users | 10,000 (flat from 11-04 to 11-06) | chromestore.item_snap |
| Chrome rating | 4.75 / 85 reviews (84 in the snapshot) | data card, item_snap |
| Chrome launch | 2026-10-07; last updated 2026-11-03, v2.2.4 | chromestore.item |
| Firefox | DAU 578,11 reviews, all 5 stars, built 2026-10-07 | AMO API,2026-11-06 |
| Total users across all platforms (website counter) | 15,479 | "Всего пользователей" on the chat.eblo.id landing page, 2026-11-06 |
| Numbers Bratishkin announced on stream | "Chatterino+ launch results: 11k" | Title of YouTube clip cai71vPuFus |

Chrome Store user counts are shown in bands, so when it reaches the 10k band it stays at 10,000 for a while. Flat for 3 days therefore doesn't mean growth has stopped. Against the website counter (15k, including desktop), it is still growing, just more slowly.

### 3. Where users came from (growth tactics)

1. **Streamer's own traffic (verified, main channel)** :
    - eblo.id is a social network Bratishkin built himself (YouTube clip "Bratishkin created his own social network (eblo.id)", id SU74KIxYM3k). The developer credit on eblo.id reads "ПОДДЕРЖКА: bratishkinoff. РАЗРАБОТКА: MIRRONAKE, Rish098…" (search snippet).
    - Rish is a moderator for Bratishkin (clip "BRATISHKIN AND THE EVIL MODERATOR (RISH)").
    - Bratishkin dresses up his own Chatterino+ profile page on stream, tests shared bans, and announces a cross-platform user milestone. The clip channel zar (@zar_twitch, 31k subscribers) cuts these into videos, puts the product link in the description, and some include referral codes (chat.eblo.id/sub?ref=zar_001):
          - "customizes Chatterino Plus profile": 29k views, about 3 weeks ago
          - "Chatterino+ is coming to Android and iOS": 4,846 views, 1 days ago
          - "Chatterino record users plus": about 18k views
          - "bratishkin reads messages from users banned on other channels": the description links to rish098.xyz/chatterino, showing the desktop version was already spreading among his viewers before the extension launched.

2. **Referral rewards + gift codes (verified)** : a paying subscription brought in by a PLUS user can be exchanged for "plusiki" points; each subscriber gets a one-time gift code, with the original line "чтобы он подсел на иглу" ("so he gets hooked") (Telegram t.me/rish098).

3. **Same-circle Telegram channels and other streamers (verified, small scale)** : the Telegram channel "Логово Внизу" (nebudetgg) posted "это наш форк чаттерино" ("this is our Chatterino fork"); the MIRRONAKE channel taught users how to subscribe to PLUS.

4. **Badges and name colors drive their own spread (inferred)** : only people with Chatterino+ installed can see the C+ badge and PLUS animated name colors. Bratishkin's channel already had a crowd using it, and non-users get pushed to install by not being able to see others' name colors.

5. **Store search (partial)** : the extension name uses "Chatterino" directly and includes the Russian spelling "Чатерино плюс", which catches Russian users searching for Chatterino. No evidence of ad spend was found; X (x-radar) shows no discussion.

### 4. Why users stay and why they pay

- **The blocking pain point** : Roskomnadzor added 7tv.app to its blocklist 2024-10-11 (reported by gazeta.ru, rknweb.ru, cybersport.ru). Russian viewers either use a VPN or lose 7TV emotes and name colors. Chatterino+ mirrors 7TV/BTTV/FFZ and chat history through its own servers (privacy terms section 4, "Зеркало"), and it puts this behind the paywall as PLUS's headline feature, turning "getting around the block" directly into a reason to pay.

- **The admin tool has a network effect** : shared bans come from servers that watch big channels' public chat and log permanent bans, so the more channels you use it on, the richer the records. The Russian top streamers' mod teams already know each other, so the tool spreads fast inside that circle.

- **Identity and cosmetics** : the PLUS badge levels up with subscription months, name gradients can be made yourself or taken from a shared library, and there's a monthly vote. It's a textbook "fan-community virtual identity" paid design. Using the same client as Bratishkin himself also builds a sense of belonging.

- **All in Russian, one extension replaces several** : you used to install three extensions, BTTV, 7TV and FFZ (about 6M users combined). Now one is enough, and the interface is in Russian.

### 5. Competitors

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BetterTTV | Chrome | 2012 | 3M users / 10k+ ratings (chromestore) | Only emote and chat enhancements, in English; no shared bans, no Russian mirror |
| 7TV (extension, two listings + Nightly) | Chrome | 2021 / 2026-03 | 2M + 500k + 200k (chromestore) | The official extension for the emote platform; blocked in Russia, so you need a VPN |
| FrankerFaceZ | Chrome | 2013 | 1M (Chrome Web Store) | Long-established and feature-rich, but mainly English, with no Russian mirror |
| Chatterino 2 (official) | Open-source desktop | From ¥2018 | The standard client for major streamers and mods; the Native Host extension has 10k users | Desktop only, free and open source, no paid cosmetics; Chatterino+ is a fork of it |
| Chatterino7 / Chatterino Homies | Open source desktop + mobile | Years | The Homies site lists 10k+ mobile downloads | Also a Chatterino fork, relying on badges and cosmetics, but aimed at the global English-speaking audience; no Russian, no shared bans |
| Enhancer(igorovh) | Chrome | 2021 | 100k (Chrome Web Store) | A Polish author's Twitch enhancement, a different direction |
| Russian "Twitch 1080p without VPN" extensions (TwiHD, XT Viewer, STREAM KEY) | Chrome | 2025 | 40k to 70k | Rides the same "Russia restrictions" tailwind, but solves video quality, not chat |
| Twitch's built-in chat | Big-company features | — | — | No third-party emotes, no cross-channel ban records |

### 6. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off

The functional differences are: Russian localization, a VPN-free 7TV mirror, shared bans and bulk bans, a paid in-site cosmetics system, and it's **Chatterino in browser-extension form** , so there's no desktop app to install. These are the reasons users stay and pay. But **the direct reason for 10k monthly users is distribution** : a top Russian streamer kept showing it on stream as "his own product", which outsiders can't copy. A team without that streamer's endorsement building the same features would likely end up as a small extension with a few hundred users.

### 7. How many people know about it / are copycats appearing

- Awareness: it only circulates within the Russian-language Twitch scene (Bratishkin's viewers, clip channels, a few Telegram channels). No English media coverage, nothing on X, and revenue isn't public.

- Copycats: they're seeing other small extensions in the same pain point, such as Legion7TV (listed 2026-11-01, 0 users) and Emotik (7TV emotes for Boosty, listed 2026-11-03, 0 users). Whether anyone is directly copying it can't be confirmed yet.

### 8. What others can learn

- "Streamer or community leader + their own tool": have a KOL's mods or core fans build it, let the live stream serve as both demo and acquisition channel, and put a referral code in the clip channel bio.

- Turn a regulatory block (a country blocking a service) into a paid feature: package server mirroring plus "no VPN needed" as a subscription perk.

- Badges and name colors visible only inside this client, plus badges that level up with subscription months and monthly votes, make a low-cost cosmetics paywall that encourages renewal.

- The admin tool creates a network effect from cross-channel data (shared bans).

### 9. Still unclear

- PLUS paying-user count and revenue are completely unknown; Bratishkin's actual revenue split and ownership stake are unverified.

- How many of the 10k Chrome users are long-term active can't be seen from the store's tiered figures.

- Risk from server-side monitoring of big-channel chat, aggregating ban records, and using the identity/nativeMessaging permissions, regarding penalties from Twitch or the Chrome Web Store: unverified.

- Bratishkin's Twitch follower count wasn't verified this round (public sources generally put it in the millions).
