# A 300-follower Threads account brought in 1,000 Indonesian influencer-marketing agents: JustKOL, a free ER-check Chrome extension, wins through replies

**What it is** A free Chrome extension that, on an Instagram or TikTok profile, shows engagement rate, median views, brands previously worked with, and whether the comments look fake, with one click to write it all into your own Google Sheet; the paid product is a separate point-based web app that uses AI to find influencers on demand.

**Why it caught on** The users are Indonesian brand and agency staff who handle influencer outreach. They hand-calculate the numbers and copy them into spreadsheets all day, and they hang out on Threads. The founder replied and DMed inside that circle, and a line like "finding 10 KOLs used to take an hour, now it's under 2 minutes" got 677 likes.

**B** **How you could copy it** If you're already in some non-English country's marketing circles, build a local-language version: a free extension that writes data into the user's own spreadsheet, paid AI talent search on top, local payment methods sold as credits, and the founder replying personally in the job communities to get users.

B grade: clear playbook, almost nobody's watching, and it can be copied country by country. But it has 1,000 users and a few paying customers, growth has slowed, the local rival is 5 times bigger, and whether it takes off depends on whether the follower is actually inside the local circles. Scraping data also carries platform risk. Few people know about it yet

1,000 users · rating 5.0 (2)

JustKOL is a Chrome extension: open any Instagram or TikTok profile and a card pops up with engagement rate, median views, and brands the creator has worked with. One click writes that row into your own Google Sheet. It's built by an indie developer in Jakarta. Indonesia already had a similar extension, and this one has 5 times fewer users. He ran no ads and got no press. In two and a half months he got 1,000 users by replying to posts on Threads one by one, in Indonesian. Below: what it is, where the users came from, where the money comes from, who's competing, and whether this playbook travels to other countries.

### "Finding 10 KOLs used to take an hour"

In 2026 Oct 21, Haris Wirabrata (Threads @harisweb, under 300 followers) posted one line under the "kol specialist" topic:

> Nyari 10 KOL dulu bisa sejam sekarang gak sampe 2 menit. (Finding 10 KOLs used to take an hour, now it takes under 2 minutes.)

The post got 677 likes and 91 replies (on Threads, as of 11-06). For an account with a few hundred followers, that's a breakout. In the replies someone asked, "How accurate is it? I've tried several tools and none were quite right." He answered: "Before launch I had some KOL specialists test it. One of them, Kak Epi, needed to find 40 film review creators who had been to the cinema, and she said 89% were correct. If you want to try it, just log in, kak." Another person asked, "What app is this?" He replied: "Justkol, kak. It's a web version, not a Chrome extension."

KOL specialist is a real job in Indonesia: someone at a brand or agency whose work is finding influencers, negotiating collaborations, and giving clients reports. Their daily routine is opening dozens of profiles, calculating engagement rates by hand, and copying the numbers into spreadsheets. They also often post on Threads asking for tools. Haris was inside this circle. When someone asked a question, he answered it and named his product.

### What it is

The extension went live in Aug 1. The store description is one line: "Analyze Instagram & TikTok engagement stats instantly and copy it as row to your spreadsheet." The listing is in Indonesian and opens with "Tanpa daftar, gratis" (no sign-up, free). The card shows:

- Average and median views, likes, and comments, engagement rate, and posting frequency. You can limit it to the last N posts, a time range, or posts you pick yourself.

- Using the budget you enter, it calculates cost per thousand views directly.

- Which brands this person has worked with, sorted by engagement, so you don't have to open each one.

- An "Organic" tab that checks whether comment patterns on recent posts look bought. The store page specifically says "for reference, not a verdict."

- One-click copy as a single row, or send it straight into your own Google Sheet.

The last point matters most. Data goes through Google Apps Script into the user's own spreadsheet, with no server in between. Specialists already build candidate lists and client reports in spreadsheets, and what it removes is the daily chore of copying numbers.

As of 11-06, the store shows 1,000 users, 2 ratings, and a 5.0 score, last updated in Oct 23 to 1.5.0.

### How the users came in, one by one

A third-party tracker (extops.dev) and the founder's own LinkedIn numbers match:

| Date | users | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| 08-01 | Launched | Chrome Web Store |
| 08-13 | First 10 users | Founder's LinkedIn |
| 09-03 | 250 | Founder's LinkedIn |
| 09-20 | 576 | extops.dev |
| 10-04 | 818 | extops.dev |
| 10-17 | 1,000 | extops.dev; the next day the founder posted "1000 active digital marketers in Indonesia." |
| 11-01 to 11-06 | 1,000 | Chrome Web Store |

In September it added roughly 17 a day; in October that fell to about +12. After 1,000 the store only shows "1,000+", so you can't see whether it's still growing. But after 10-17 the third-party tracker recorded no new readings and the founder stopped reporting numbers, so growth has most likely slowed (my inference).

Almost all users came from Threads. In Aug 13 Haris wrote a LinkedIn retrospective titled "The first 10 users, and what I learned about marketing funnels and customer relationships." It describes one mistake:

He redesigned the landing page, and after that his replies just dropped the link every time. Result: "There were visits, but not one prospect asked about the product," and sales fell. He found two causes: putting a link straight in a reply ends the conversation, and the path "Threads post → landing page → product link" was too roundabout, with too many sections and buttons on the page. He went back to his original approach: first ask what the person needs, then ask "izin DM" (is it okay if I DM you). The path became "Threads post → product link," and demos, the extension, and FAQs are sent in comments or DMs as needed. His summary: "Threads favor organic reply."

Other channels are tiny: LinkedIn milestone posts get 2 to 5 likes each. There are a few Indonesian-language tutorials on YouTube with a 71-subscriber channel. The official extension page title, "Cek Engagement Rate Instagram & TikTok Gratis," targets local search terms, but its effect can't be measured. There were zero mentions on X in the last 90 days, nothing turns up on TikTok, and there's no press coverage. He also turned his own story into content: he replied under a 11.9k-like post about unemployment, saying he couldn't find a full-time job for two years, so he built JustKOL, and now has several paying customers.

### Where the money comes from: the extension is free, the money is on the web

The extension itself charges nothing. In Nov 6 justkol.id opened, and its homepage no longer leads with the extension. It leads with JustKOL Web: you write a requirement (the example is "food creators in Jakarta who do real on-camera reviews, not store accounts"), and AI lists matching TikTok and Instagram accounts, including small and micro influencers, each with one line on why it fits. Then you can check engagement rate, content type, and likely audience in one click. The 10-21 post with 677 likes is about this web version.

Pricing is credit-based, not a subscription. Payment is via QRIS, bank transfer, or e-wallet:

| Plan | Pricing | Credits | Roughly buys |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Rp50,000 (about 3 USD) | 400 | Finds 40 TikTok KOLs |
| Campaign | Rp250,000 (about 15 USD) | 3,000 | 300 |
| Team | Rp500,000 (about 30 USD) | 8,000 | 800 |

New accounts get 100 credits; no charge if nothing is found; after the first purchase, TikTok accounts from search can be checked free 150 per day. There is also a one-time "KOL Manager" Google Sheets template sold on lynk.id, with panels for campaign budget, payment records, and barter collaborations. The price isn't shown on the page.

Revenue isn't public. In early November the founder said on Threads "udah ada beberapa paid customers," meaning there are already a few paying customers. Based on these prices and this number of people, monthly revenue is probably tens to hundreds of dollars (my inference).

### Who's competing: there's no shortage of similar tools

| Product | Launched | Users (Chrome Web Store, early November) | Versus JustKOL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Check Engagement Rate Instagram & Tiktok by KOL.ID | 2025-10 | 5,000 / 21 ratings | The most direct rival: also Indonesian, also focused on checking ER, with almost the same name, and it launched 9 months earlier. It's backed by the Jakarta platform KOL.ID, focused on TikTok Shop sales data and rate cards. Advanced features require sign-up, and data goes into its own platform. |
| KOLSprite | 2024-09 | 100k | Built by a Chinese team, focused on TikTok downloads and ranking, aimed at a global audience |
| UpDog | 2021-04 | 10k | General English analytics, no Indonesian, no campaign management |
| Influencer Searcher Engagement Calculator | 2020-04 | 9,000 | UK team, pure ER calculator |
| Kolsquare, HypeAuditor, Nox, Influencer Hero, etc. | 2017–2024 | 3,000 to 20k | Free entry points to global subscription platforms, mostly English |
| Intura KOL Analytics, Meldza.id | Unknown | Very small | Local small tools launched around the same time in Indonesia |

So an "Indonesian ER extension" isn't scarce. What JustKOL has over KOL.ID is: no sign-up, data stays in your own spreadsheet, collaboration history, fake-comment checks, and cost per thousand views. These make specialists keep it installed. But what brings people in isn't the features; it's the founder replying on Threads.

### Why this one

- **The people are easy to find.** KOL specialist is a job, the work is the same everywhere, they're all on Threads, and they're all asking about tools. The founder is in that same pool, so customer acquisition cost is close to zero.

- **The pitch works.** Asking about needs first, requesting a DM, and not dropping links were lessons he confirmed by making mistakes. "One hour before, two minutes now" travels better than any feature list.

- **Features are picked to fit the workflow.** Median (viral posts skew averages in creator data), cost per thousand views, collaboration history, and comment-quality checks are all questions specialists have to answer in client reports. The barter and visit (on-site visit) campaign types were added after users asked for them on Threads.

- **Pricing fits local habits.** No subscription, from $3, pay by scanning a QR code. The barrier is low for small agencies that pay per project.

### If it were you

**B. Worth trying, but the ceiling is low and it depends on you personally.** The playbook is copyable: a small country, one specific job, a free extension that writes data into the user's own spreadsheet, paid heavier AI talent search on top, and the founder replying personally in the community. But so far it has only 1,000 users and a few paying customers, growth has slowed, and there's a local rival 5 times bigger. Making it work depends entirely on the founder speaking the local language and being inside local circles.

**Who it suits:** developers who are already in the marketing circles of a non-English market (Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Turkey, and Brazil all qualify) and can reply daily in the native language; or people who want a one-person tool earning a few hundred dollars a month and aren't aiming for scale.

**Who it doesn't suit:** people who don't speak the local language or aren't inside the local circles. The moat of this business is "it's built by one of us." It also doesn't suit anyone counting on Chrome Web Store search for organic traffic. In English markets there are over a dozen similar extensions, backed by large subscription platforms.

**How to do it:** start by searching the target country's Threads, Facebook groups, and LinkedIn for local job titles (KOL specialist, influencer marketer, tuyển KOL, and so on), and see what manual work they complain about every day. The extension does only three things: calculate the numbers on the profile, flag brand collaborations and suspicious comments, and write one click into their own Google Sheet. No server, so privacy concerns and costs are low. Put paid features on the web as "AI talent search by requirement," sold as credits, with local QR and e-wallet payments, and set the first tier at $3 to $5. Add a one-time-sale spreadsheet template.

**How to get users:** reply daily under job-related topics. When someone asks about tools, first ask what they need, then ask whether DMs are fine. Don't drop a link in the first line, and link straight to the product with no landing page in between. Post about results, not features, for example "one hour before, two minutes now." Before launch, have three to five real specialists do one concrete job with you, and get a number like "89% correct out of 40" to use as evidence in future replies.

**When to move:** not urgent, and this isn't a window-type opportunity. But scraping Instagram and TikTok profile data can be interrupted at any time by a platform change. The founder mentioned updating the TikTok scraping code in August, and the web version had a search failure in October. The later you wait, the more likely a KOL.ID-style platform has already saturated the local market with a free extension.

**What would show you're wrong:** ① JustKOL stays around 1,000 for six months with no growth in paying customers, which would mean the pool of this job is too small to support one person in one country, and copying it to other countries would hit the same ceiling. ② A local platform like KOL.ID makes its free extension work without sign-up and can write into spreadsheets too, which would show this differentiation doesn't keep users. ③ Meta or TikTok tightens scraping of profile data, and the whole category stops working at once.

- Website: [justkol.id](https://justkol.id) (extension page /extension, spreadsheet template /spreadsheet, AI KOL-finder web app app.justkol.id)

- Developer: Haris Wirabrata (Abdul Haris Wirabrata, Indonesian indie developer, self-described senior software engineer with 6 years of experience; emails hariswb@gmail.com / haris@justkol.id), one person coding and doing marketing

- First released 2026-08-01; version 1.5.0,2026-10-23 update; store lists "Offers in-app purchases"; 1,000 users, 2 ratings, average 5.0 (chromestore library item_snap, unchanged from 11-01 to 11-07)

### Bottom line

This is a small funnel from an Indonesian indie developer: a free extension plus a paid web app / spreadsheet. Users mainly come from him replying and DMing on Threads in Indonesian, pitching himself as a "KOL specialist" (the role at Indonesian brands and agencies that handles influencers). Its differentiation is focusing only on the Indonesian market and designing features around the daily manual work of KOL specialists: calculating ER, checking past brand collaborations, checking whether comments are fake, calculating cost per thousand views, and writing a row straight into your own Google Sheet. However, the most direct local rival, KOL.ID, already has 5,000 users, so its growth depends on the founder replying one by one on Threads, not on having no competition. It is very small, and user growth has stalled at 1,000 users.

### 1. Growth data

| Timeline | Users | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-01 | Launched | Store published |
| 2026-08-13 | "First 10 users" | Founder LinkedIn post |
| 2026-09-03 | 250 | Founder's LinkedIn |
| 2026-09-07 | 294 | First reading from the extops.dev curve |
| 2026-09-20 / 21 | 576 / 591; founder claims 500+, 570+ | extops; Threads pinned post (09-21); LinkedIn (09-21) |
| 2026-10-04 | 818 | extops |
| 2026-10-17 | 1,000 | extops (the store starts showing approximate numbers from here) |
| 2026-10-18 | Founder claims "1000 active digital marketers in Indonesia" | LinkedIn |
| 2026-11-01 to 11-07 | 1,000, 2 ratings | chromestore library item_snap |

- extops' 30-day increase is +182 (as of 11-06), and +706 over 90 days. September averaged about +17 per day, and early October about +12. Once users passed 1,000, the store stopped showing exact figures, so whether it kept growing after that is unclear. However, from 10-17 to 11-06 extops recorded no new readings, and the founder has not reported a new user count since, so growth has roughly slowed.

- Pricing: the extension itself is free and needs no sign-up. The real revenue comes from two things:
    1. JustKOL Web (app.justkol.id): uses AI to find KOLs from a brief, vet them, and analyze individual KOLs, charged by credits, no subscription. Starter Rp50,000 / 400 credits, Campaign Rp250,000 / 3,000 credits, Team Rp500,000 / 8,000 credits. New accounts get 100 credits. Payment via QRIS, bank transfer, or e-wallet (justkol.id pricing section).
    2. KOL Manager (Google Sheets template + dashboard): one-time purchase, checkout on lynk.id, exact price unverified (justkol.id/spreadsheet).

- Paid scale: the founder said on Threads 2026-11 that they "udah ada beberapa paid customers" (already have a few paying customers). No public revenue figure.

### 2. Competitors

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from JustKOL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Check Engagement Rate Instagram & Tiktok by KOL.ID | Chrome | 2025-10-19 | 5,000 users, 21 ratings (library 11-07) | The most direct local rival: also Indonesian, also centered on "cek ER", with an almost identical name, and it launched 9 months earlier. It's backed by KOL.ID, a Jakarta platform company. It leans toward TikTok Shop (viewing GMV, yellow-cart products), rate cards, and video downloads; advanced features require registering as a Brand/Agency, and the data goes into KOL.ID's own platform. JustKOL needs no sign-up, writes data into the user's own Google Sheet, and adds two blocks, "whether comments look natural" and "collaboration history". |
| UpDog - TikTok & Instagram Analytics | Chrome | 2021-04 | 10k users | An English general-purpose tool, which the store places in JustKOL's related recommendations. No Indonesian interface, and no campaign management. |
| KOLSprite | Chrome | 2024-09 | 100k users | Focused on TikTok downloading, sorting, and analysis; built by a Chinese team (iyunya.com) for a global audience. |
| Kolsquare Analytics Sidebar | Chrome | 2019-07 | 6,000 users | The free entry point of a European SaaS platform |
| Influencer Searcher Engagement Calculator | Chrome | 2020-04 | 9,000 users | UK team, pure ER calculator |
| NanoInfluencer.ai / EasyKOL / HypeAuditor / Influencer Hero / Nox Influencer, etc. | Chrome | 2017–2024 | 3,000 to 20k | All are lead-generation extensions for global SaaS, mostly in English, backed by subscription platforms. |
| Free web-based ER calculators such as GRIN and CreatorDB | Web / Chrome | Years | Big | Lead-generation tools from big SaaS vendors |
| KOL Partners (Cacafly Metrodata), Kollab.id, etc. | Web / agency | Years | Local agencies | Indonesian local KOL search platforms or agencies that take enterprise work, not self-serve mini tools. |
| Intura KOL Analytics, Meldza.id KOL List | Chrome (Intura is a self-hosted zip) | Not verified | Very small / unknown | Also a local Indonesian extension. Intura is one-time purchase, starts on Threads, and says it runs a local model to analyze Indonesian-language posts. Meldza has only been seen in Threads discussions. There's no clear sign it copies JustKOL. |
| Built into platforms (TikTok Creator Marketplace, Instagram Professional dashboard) | Big-company features | — | — | Only shows creators already on the platform, can't look up arbitrary profiles, and can't export spreadsheets. |

Bottom line: the category is crowded. The global English market has a dozen-plus SaaS free extensions, and in Indonesia KOL.ID launched earlier and is 5 times bigger. JustKOL is not the only one.

### 3. Growth tactics (where users come from)

1. Indonesian-language founder marketing on Threads is verified and is the main channel.
    - Threads account @harisweb, roughly 277 to 308 followers. He replies under KOL marketing topics and posts product updates. Common replies are "Justkol.id, kak" and "Boleh banget, kak. Ada trialnya di JustKOL.id" (2026-10-21 to 10-23 of them).
    - He also writes his startup story as content: "Two years of applying for full-time jobs with no offer, so I built JustKOL", posted as a reply under a 11.9k-like viral post.
    - He broke down this playbook on LinkedIn (2026-08-13): Threads posts link straight to the product, replies ask about the other person's needs first, then request "izin DM" (permission to DM), instead of dropping a link right away. He says "Threads favor organic reply". At one point he switched to sending people to a landing page first, and traffic and sales both dropped until he switched back.
    - Before launch he had a few KOL specialists try it out, for example finding 40 film critics who had watched a movie for "Kak Epi" (Threads reply).

2. He posted milestone updates on LinkedIn, verified but small in volume: 250, 570+, and 1000 user markers, each with 2 to 5 likes.

3. YouTube tutorials and Shorts, confirmed but tiny: "Spreadsheet + Chrome Extension | Influencer Marketing Tool", "Cari kol instagram menggunakan JustKOL", "Tutorial analisa KOL menggunakan JustKOL".

4. SEO and blog, just getting started: justkol.id/extension uses the title "Cek Engagement Rate Instagram & TikTok Gratis", aimed straight at local search terms; Justkol Blog 2026-10 launched. Effect not verified.

5. Store search and related recommendations, likely contributing: the store listing packs in keywords like "Check engagement rate Instagram & TikTok", and it shows up in related recommendations alongside KOL.ID and UpDog (library related table). No direct evidence.

6. What I couldn't find: 0 posts on X (x-radar, last 90 days), no results searching "justkol" on TikTok, no media coverage, no ad library records, no TrustMRR revenue page.

### 4. Why it worked (at its scale)

- The users are very precise. A KOL specialist in Indonesia is a real job: every day they calculate ER by hand, build tables, and spend the whole day on Threads, where they also post asking for tools. The founder replied and DMed one by one inside that pool, and a near-zero-cost acquisition channel started turning (LinkedIn 08-13 retrospective; Threads replies).

- The product is built around the workflow. The key step is "copy as a row" or "Send to list", writing data straight into the user's own Google Sheet (via Apps Script, no intermediate server). Specialists already do their shortlists and client reports in spreadsheets, and it removes the step that eats the most time each day (store description; /spreadsheet).

- The features were picked for local vetting. Median and mean calculated two ways, can be limited to the latest N posts or hand-picked posts, cost per thousand views (CPV), checking a creator's past brand deals, and an "organic comments" checklist (Tab Organic). That last one targets the Indonesian pain point of heavy fake views and fake comments (store description; the LinkedIn 10-18 post also mentions "check organic comments behavior").

- No sign-up, free, and the privacy policy is clear. The rival KOL.ID needs registration to unlock its advanced features; JustKOL works as soon as it's installed.

- User feedback is turned around fast. After 08-01 launched, there were several updates by 1.5.0: the campaign types added barter and visit (in-store visits), both requested by users on Threads (Threads post: "beberapa user KOL manager saya request fitur campaign barter").

- Pricing fits local habits: prepaid credits, no subscription, a minimum of Rp50k (about 3 US dollars), payable by QRIS and e-wallets, and the spreadsheet template sold as a one-time purchase on lynk.id.

### 5. Differentiation, and whether it's why it took off

- Compared with global English tools: Indonesian language, Indonesian payment methods, local campaign types (barter, visit), and data kept in the user's own Google Sheet. These make it feel "made for me" to Indonesian specialists, but that's not why it got users. Users came from manual distribution on Threads, and the differentiation just gives those people a reason to stay and pay.

- Compared with local rival KOL.ID: no sign-up, writing into your own sheet, checking past deals, checking whether comments are real, calculating CPV. It feels more like an independent, lightweight tool, while KOL.ID's extension exists to funnel users to the platform. But KOL.ID launched 9 months earlier and is 5 times bigger, which shows an "Indonesian-language ER extension" isn't scarce in itself. JustKOL got these 1,000 people through the founder doing distribution personally in the community, plus a design tied closely to the specialist's workflow, not through a feature nobody else has.

- My read: the distribution approach is the main driver, and the product itself (the sheet integration, the localization) is secondary.

### 6. What to borrow

- The playbook for a non-English market and a local job community (here, KOL specialists on Threads in Indonesia): the founder replies personally, asks about needs first, then asks to DM rather than dropping a link straight away; shorten the path to "post to product"; trade a personal story of job-hunting or starting a business for visibility.

- The free extension only does "read the data on the page, then write it into the user's own sheet", and moves payment to the heavier steps, like using AI to find people from a brief and batch-checking them. Charge per use with credits, take local payments, and set the entry price at a few dollars.

- "Data goes into your own Google Sheet, no intermediate server" works both as a privacy selling point and as a way to save server costs. The spreadsheet template is sold separately as a one-time purchase, adding another revenue line.

- The same approach could be copied to KOL specialist communities in Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia, or moved to other jobs where people copy data into spreadsheets by hand every day.

### 7. Visibility

Hardly anyone knows about it yet. The founder has about 300 followers on Threads and 294 on LinkedIn; no media coverage, 0 mentions on X, nothing found on TikTok; revenue isn't public (only "a few paying customers").

### 8. Copycats

No confirmed copycats. Intura KOL Analytics and Meldza.id KOL List are local Indonesian alternatives from the same period, and there's no sign they're imitating it; KOL.ID came earlier.

### 9. Still unclear

- The exact number of paying customers and revenue; the price of the KOL Manager template.

- Real user numbers after 10-17 (the store shows a rounded figure, stuck at "1k"), and how many of those users are weekly or daily actives.

- How much of the installs come from store search versus related recommendations.

- When JustKOL Web (AI-powered KOL finding) launched, and whether it's now the main source of revenue.

- Scraping Instagram and TikTok profile data carries platform risk. The founder 08-13 mentioned the TikTok scraping code needs updating, and there was one "search is broken" incident. Whether it can stay stable long term is unknown.
