Launch a day late and it's gone: Meta moves its AI video tool, a Vietnamese developer catches it the next day. 50k users
What it is A Chrome side-panel extension that queues prompts on Meta's free AI video site vibes.ai, auto-submits and generates them, and automatically downloads the videos and images into folders by project.
Why it took off Meta moved video generation from meta.ai to vibes.ai, and the batch-generation tool that faceless YouTube channel operators had been using stopped working overnight. The author shipped the next day under a name people would actually search for. Their 15 extensions built on the same template cross-promote each other, and YouTube tutorial creators in French-speaking regions and Brazil recommended it on their own.
CHow you could follow it Don't build another one head-on on vibes.ai. Copy the playbook instead: watch for new or migrating free AI generation sites, ship a batch tool built on the same template within the first three days, use a generic search term in the name, and get mid-tier YouTube creators covering that site to link to you. Or build what it left undone: turning one story into shots with consistent characters, delivered as landscape video.
50,000 users · rating 4.5 (56)
Around 2026 July 8, Meta shut down video generation on meta.ai and moved it to the new site vibes.ai. In July 9, Vietnamese developer Truong Nguyen took a meta.ai batch tool with 70k users, changed its URL and name, and shipped it as "Vibes Automation." Four months later it has 50k users and a 4.5 rating. Three similar tools that launched three to five days later have fewer than 2,000 users combined. This article covers how it caught those users, where the money comes from, and why this spot is no longer open to you.
A Frenchman's five prompts produced 20 videos
In 2026 Oct 8, French YouTuber Grégory Beyrouti (34.1k subscribers) wrote on his site that Meta had launched Vibes, a free AI video feed usable in France. On October 7 and 8 he made 60 videos with it: "No credits, no pricing, no subscription in sight." Then he recommended a Chrome extension: the free Vibes Automation, "built by an indie dev, not Meta." You give it a list of prompts, it submits them one by one and auto-downloads the videos into a folder. "Five prompts gave 20 videos, and I touched nothing." He also used its image-to-video mode to stitch together an 16:9 short film with 12 shots and a consistent character.
Two days later he posted a video on the same topic, "FINALLY… Meta releases a FREE and UNLIMITED AI video tool," which had 75,304 views as of 11-06, with the extension's store link in the description.
These are Vibes Automation's users: creators running faceless YouTube channels, Shorts, and AI short films. They don't need one good video, they need dozens or hundreds a day. vibes.ai is free and unlimited, with up to 4 videos per generation, but the web page takes only one prompt at a time, with no queue and no batch download. The extension fills that gap.
Why now
Meta opened the window. In 2025 September Meta launched a Vibes video feed inside Meta AI; in 2026 May it went live as a standalone site, vibes.ai. Around July 8, video generation on meta.ai stopped, and a Facebook roundup page says: "Meta AI stopped generating videos around July 8, 2026."
For this developer, that day meant their "Meta Automation" had 70k users on meta.ai doing batch video generation, and it broke overnight. The same people moved over to vibes.ai, where nothing existed yet.
The developer's move came just one day later. On Jul 9, a YouTube video titled "New FREE & UNLIMITED AI Video generator After Meta Ai Removed It" appeared (54,296 views as of 11-06). Vibes Automation launched the same day. Tech Rush, with 10,145k subscribers, posted "Meta AI is BACK!" (49,472 views), which demoed batch generation on vibes.ai. When the first wave of "Meta AI is gone, go to vibes.ai" traffic arrived, the store results for "vibes automation" already had it at the top.
The code needed almost no rewriting: the description, features, and side panel are the same template as the Meta version, with just the site name swapped.
Where users come from
The author never made a video for it (their YouTube channel has 3,200 subscribers and 14 videos, covering Veo, Grok, and similar tools). Growth came from four things:
| Channel | How it worked |
|---|---|
| Platform event | When meta.ai stopped video, the tool that 70k users depended on broke and the demand moved over as a block. It was the first to catch it. |
| The name is the search term | "Vibes Automation - Auto Meta Vibes on Vibes.ai": the terms users search for are all in the title. On YouTube, tools like this are generically called "Vibes Automation"; Tech Rush and another creator linked to other products, but those had only a few hundred users. Viewers who watched the videos more likely searched the store for the generic name and installed the one with the most precise name and highest rating (inference). |
| Its own extension matrix | The same person has 15 extensions on the same template, all named "X Automation - Auto X on X.com": Flow/Veo and Grok at 100k users each, Meta 70k, Vibes 50k, ChatGPT 20k, plus Gemini, Seedance, Qwen, Canva, and others, for roughly 400k users combined. Most of the "related" listings on the store pages are their own, cross-promoting each other. Website, Discord, Telegram, and subscription are shared. |
| Other people's tutorials | Brazil's Erickson Lourenço (who says he has 620k subscribers and has run 100 channels) wrote a long post linking to it on 9-16; his video that day got 16,130 views. French-speaking Beyrouti's video got 75k views, and there are English long-form tutorials too. Users rose from about 10k at the end of August to about 30k at the end of September, which lines up in time with this content (estimate). |
No ad spend was found. There's one red flag in the reviews: the latest 10 reviews cluster from Sep 13 to 25, all generic lines like "Simple and effective." and "Awesome tool!" with names that look randomly chosen, suggesting they were solicited. With 50k users there are only 56 ratings, which isn't enough to count as large-scale review manipulation.
User count (store tier): from Nov 1 to 5 it stayed at 40k, and in Nov 6 it moved up to 50k.
Where the money comes from
The store page doesn't list in-app purchases. The money comes from outside the extension: the author's site kylenguyen.me offers an all-in-one subscription that unlocks every extension for one payment, at $3 per month, $7 for three months, or $25 per year, with no auto-renewal. The page says: "These extensions were 100% free before; moving to paid means more features and fewer bugs." This pricing page only appeared in Oct 21, and when Beyrouti used it on Oct 8 it was still free, so the switch to paid probably happened in late October (inference). Whether this extension is now fully free, partly paid, or requires a subscription hasn't been verified, and neither paying users nor revenue has been disclosed.
A rough sense of scale from the pricing: a matrix with 400k users, even if 1% buy the annual plan, would bring in around $100k a year (estimate). The price is set this low to target creators in India, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
Who it's competing with
| Name | Launched | Scale (11-06) | What's different |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto Vibes (formerly Auto Meta, another Vietnamese developer) | 2025-11, moved over from meta.ai with a rename | 50k users, 3.3 ratings / 66 reviews | Tied for the top, carries over older users, more granular features (character reference images, chaining, row-level reruns); but the free tier can't generate, starts at $3, and has a noticeably lower rating |
| Meta x Vibes Automator | 2026-03 | 5,000 | Carried over from meta.ai, one order of magnitude smaller |
| Vibes.ai Automator | 07-12 | 638 | 3 days later, Spanish interface, only image animation and batch download |
| TryAIToday Vibes Automation | 07-13 | 879 | 4 days later, copied the name exactly; a creator's video linked to it but it didn't keep users |
| Automation for Vibes AI | 07-14 | 375 | 5 days later; the video from Tech Rush with 49k views linked to this one |
| Official vibes.ai web page | 2026-05 | Vibes Android app, 1.66M installs | One prompt at a time, no queue, no batch download |
The most telling rows in this table are the middle three: similar features, launched three to five days later, some even with creator videos driving traffic, yet all stalled at a few hundred users. In this category the outcome isn't decided by features. It's decided by who claims the search results first and who already has users on hand.
If it were you
C: The playbook is worth copying, but don't go after this spot. Batch tools on vibes.ai are already split between two tools with 50k users each, and the three that entered 3 days later never passed 1,000 users. Anyone can build the features, the name has already been copied once, and the lifeline sits with Meta. It wins on two things followers can't get: 70k people who were using its meta.ai version the day before, and a matrix of 15 extensions cross-promoting each other.
Who it's for: People who already have a batch tool on some AI generation site with thousands of users. What you should take from it is the move it made in Jul 9: when the platform moved, it changed URLs and shipped the same day.
Who it's not for: People starting from scratch who want to build another head-on on vibes.ai, or anyone counting on steady subscription income (at $3/month, a single platform redesign takes it to zero).
How to do it: Watch for new AI generation sites that are free, limited to one prompt at a time, and don't have batch features yet, as well as the moments when big companies move, redesign, or shut down features. Build one template, and each new site name becomes a new extension; name it with the terms users actually search for, "X Automation"; queues, concurrency, random delays, auto-download, per-project folders, and numbered file names are enough to be useful. The gaps it leaves are also openings: Vibes only does vertical video and characters aren't consistent, and Beyrouti had to chain ChatGPT and Google Flow himself to get a 16:9 consistent short. Making "split a story into shots, keep characters consistent, deliver landscape video" a one-click flow is a more distinctive direction than another batch submitter (inference, no one has been seen doing it specifically).
How to get users: No need to shoot your own videos. On launch day, find YouTube creators who are covering the new site right now (mid-tier channels in French, Portuguese, Hindi, and Spanish are most willing to recommend free tools), and give them a link they can drop straight into their descriptions. On the store, let the name do the search work. When you ship the second product, have the first one's listing and side panel send people over.
When it was too early: For vibes.ai, the window closed in mid-July. For the next site, the window is the first three days after it launches or migrates. This extension's numbers make it clear: people who entered on day 4 got only a fraction.
Signs you've misread it: (1) Meta adds quotas, anti-abuse controls, or a paywall to vibes.ai (Meta has already shut down video on meta.ai once), and the whole category drops together; (2) vibes.ai officially adds a prompt queue or batch download; (3) a newcomer enters a new site a few days late and still reaches tens of thousands of users. That would mean "being first on day one" matters less than content and features, and there's more room to follow than this article suggests.
One line for anyone building extensions: On the day a big company moves a feature from one site to another, every tool on the old site becomes worthless and the new site is empty. Whoever already has users from the old site can claim the new one first by changing the URL. Wait three days and you only get the scraps.

One line
Around 2026-07-08 Meta turned off video generation on meta.ai and moved it to a new site, vibes.ai. This developer already had Meta Automation with 70k users (batch-running prompts on meta.ai). The next day (07-09) they changed the URL on the same code and relisted it under a new name. Growth then came from store search, cross-promotion across their 15 extensions, and organic endorsements from YouTube creators teaching "free unlimited AI video / faceless channel" (a French-language video with 75k views, a large Brazilian account writing a long post). Users grew from about 10k in late August to 50k in November. The features are similar to competitors; the edge is speed, a whole lineup of extensions, and the most direct possible name.

Moving to a paid plan…" The Wayback 2026-10-08 homepage had no pricing yet. A French blogger also called it "gratuite" (free). Whether Vibes is fully free, partly paid, or requires a subscription is unverified. | kylenguyen.me, web.archive.org, gregory-beyrouti.com |
Same developer (chromestore library, ranked by users): Flow/Veo Automation 100k, Grok Automation 100k, Meta Automation 70k, Vibes Automation 50k, ChatGPT Automation 20k, Whisk / VEO / Gemini 10k each, Vids 9,000, Seedance 8,000, Qwen 6,000, Dola 4,000, Canva 3,000, Muse 2,000… 15 extensions in all, about 400k users combined. All use one template: the name "X Automation - Auto X on X.com" and the same description text with only the site name swapped.
2. Platform event: Meta moves video generation from meta.ai to vibes.ai
- 2025-09-25: Meta launched a Vibes feed on the Meta AI app and meta.ai, where users can generate and share AI short videos (Reuters).
- 2026-02-05: TechCrunch reported Meta testing a standalone Vibes app.
- 2026-05-21: An admin of the Facebook group "Discuss Meta Vibes" posted that Meta had launched a new site, vibes.ai, organized by project, with options for 480p / 720p (facebook.com/groups/discussmetavibes/posts/948393658194435).
- Around 2026-07-08: video generation on meta.ai stopped. Facebook's AI roundup page says: "Meta AI stopped generating videos around July 8, 2026", and many users reported "can't create videos" (facebook.com/fb-answers/why-is-meta-ai-not-generating-videos). On Reddit r/MetaAI, someone wrote "they are moving the vibes portion out of meta ai… go to vibes.ai".
- 2026-07-09: A YouTube video titled "New FREE & UNLIMITED AI Video generator After Meta Ai Removed It" appeared with 54,296 views (Typ09Q_Y3CA). Vibes Automation was listed the same day.
- 2026-07-10: Tech Rush (145k subscribers) published "Meta AI is BACK! FREE Unlimited AI Video Generator Without Watermark (Vibes.AI)", with 49,472 views; the video also demonstrated batch generation.
- Vibes.ai has since been promoted as a "free, unlimited, no-watermark" AI video site. The Vibes Android app has 1,664,565 installs, +19,528 in the last 7 days (googleplay library, 2026-11-06).
Why it matters: Meta Automation's 70k users (people batch-producing videos for faceless YouTube channels and Shorts) lost their tool overnight, and the demand moved to vibes.ai as a whole. Whoever first had a working batch tool on vibes.ai would catch that audience. This developer was one day ahead.
3. Competitors
| Product | Where | Launched | Scale (chromestore, 2026-11-06) | How it differs from Vibes Automation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Auto Vibes: AI Video Automation & Downloader (formerly Auto Meta, duckspace / Đặng Minh Đức) | Chrome | 2025-11-12 (originally a meta.ai tool, later renamed) | 50,000 users, 3.3 stars / 66 ratings, in-app purchases listed | Also a Vietnamese developer, also migrated from meta.ai, renamed the original listing, so it brought its old users. Features are heavier (character reference images, chained assignments, per-row reruns). But the free Basic tier can't generate; it requires Lite from $3; ratings are noticeably lower. Co-leads the top spot with Vibes Automation. |
| Meta x Vibes Automator(autoplaylabs) | Chrome | 2026-03-30 | 5,000,3.5 / 6 | Carried over from the meta.ai version, an order of magnitude smaller |
| Meta Ai Automator(Miz Labs) | Chrome | 2026-04-02 | 8,000,3.5 / 13,05-20 no updates since | Only did meta.ai; largely dead after meta.ai stopped producing video |
| Vibes.ai Automator | Chrome | 2026-07-12 | 638,5.0 / 1 | Launched 3 days later, Spanish-language UI, only image animation plus batch download |
| TryAIToday Vibes Automation | Chrome | 2026-07-13 | 879,5.0 / 5 | Launched 4 days later, copied the name "Vibes Automation" outright; a creator (Shiny Prinsu, 4,014 views) titled the video "Vibes Automation" but linked to this one |
| Automation for Vibes AI | Chrome | 2026-07-14 | 375,3.0 / 1 | A Tech Rush video with 49k views linked to it, but it kept almost no users |
| MetaBatch, MetaFactory, MultiMeta, FastMeta, Meta automator, etc. | Chrome | 2025-12 to 2026-05 | Each 150–1,000 | Tools from the meta.ai era |
| Vibes Flow | Chrome | Not verified | Unverified (only a card in the database) | Built for bulk 16:9 YouTube production |
| Custom scripts / agents like Claude Code driving the browser | Open source / other | — | — | No extension to install, but a high bar to entry |
| vibes.ai official | Big-company features | 2026-05 | — | The web app takes one prompt at a time, producing 4 video per run; there's no prompt queue and no bulk auto-download, and that gap is exactly why extensions exist |
Verdict: the only real rival is Auto Vibes (50k). Everything else sits below 10k. The recall card's claim that 'the others are much smaller' isn't accurate; the two are level on users.
4. Growth tactics (evidence)
- Platform event + listed the next day (confirmed). meta.ai reportedly shut down video around 07-08, and 07-09 Vibes Automation went live. The code is basically Meta Automation with a new domain: same description, same feature templates, same sidebar.
- Migrating old users / cross-promoting your own portfolio (partly confirmed). Meta Automation had 70k users, and the Vibes version targets exactly those people. The official site shows 15 extensions side by side; there's a usage guide on GitHub at trgkyle/vibes-automation-user-guide; and the Discord and Telegram communities are shared. Whether the extension directly pops up a prompt pointing Meta-version users to Vibes is unverified.
- The Chrome Web Store's related-items slots (confirmed). In its detail page's 'related' section, most of the items are sibling extensions (Qwen, ChatGPT, Seedance, Gemini, VEO, Grok, Dola, Muse, Canva); the reverse is also true, with the sibling extensions' pages linking back to it (chromestore
relatedtable). 15 identical-template extensions in the store are effectively claiming territory for each other. - Store search: the name is the search term (inferred, with supporting evidence). 'Vibes Automation' is exactly the phrase users would search. YouTube tutorials also refer to this class of tool generically as 'Vibes Automation' (the #VibesAutomation tag). A strange side effect: Shiny Prinsu and Tech Rush's videos link to TryAIToday and Automation for Vibes AI, yet those have only a few hundred users. The likelier explanation is that viewers search the store for 'vibes automation' and install the most name-matched, highest-rated result.
- Third-party YouTube / blog tutorials, organic recommendations (confirmed).
- Grégory Beyrouti (French, 34.1k subscribers) posted 'FINALLY… Meta releases a FREE and UNLIMITED AI video tool' on 2026-10-10, with 75,304 views, linking the Vibes Automation store page in the description; a personal blog post the same day said 'five prompts, 20 videos, hands off.'
- Erickson Lourenço (Brazil, claims 620k subscribers, 3B views, and has run 100 channels) published a long post on 2026-09-16 linking straight to this extension, explaining how to use it to mass-produce faceless videos; the same day his YouTube video '[PRESENTE] Ferramenta que Gera em Lote…' had 16,130 views.
- BigWiz Media's 2026-10-01 tutorial on making long videos with Meta Vibes.
- The recall card shows September users growing from 10k to 30k, which lines up in time with the release of this content in Brazil and the French-speaking world (inferred).
- The author never made a video for it (confirmed). The @trgkyle channel has 3,200 subscribers and 14 videos: tutorials on Veo (43k + 19k views), Grok (30k), Dola (11k), Muse and others, but nothing on Vibes. So this extension's growth came almost entirely from the platform event, the portfolio, and other people's content.
- Seeded reviews (suspicious, unconfirmed). The latest 10 store reviews cluster between 2026-09-13 and 09-25, and they're all generic lines like 'Simple and effective.', 'Awesome tool!', 'Great job with this extension.' The reviewer names look randomly generated (Felix Jiho, Lena Usup, Felix Buri, Hank Atkins / Hank Marchand), and Extpose has indexed the same batch. With 50k users there are only 56 ratings (about 0.1%), so there's no sign of large-scale review farming, but September's batch looks like it was solicited or commissioned.
- Advertising: no evidence of paid promotion found. x-radar searches over the last 90 days for 'vibes.ai' and 'Vibes Automation' each returned 0 related results; no self-promotion posts turned up on Reddit.
5. Why it took off
- Timing is everything: meta.ai turned off video around 07-08, and this went live 07-09. It launched 3–5 days ahead of rivals Vibes.ai Automator, TryAIToday, and Automation for Vibes AI, right before the first wave of 'Meta AI is gone, go to vibes.ai' traffic (two videos with about 50k views each, from 07-09 and 07-10), claiming the 'vibes automation' search result in the store first.
- Ready-made code and audience: Meta Automation had already validated demand on meta.ai (70k users), so moving to vibes.ai cost almost nothing to build, and the users are the same people running faceless channels.
- Matrix effect: 15 same-named template extensions take up each other's related-item slots, share one website, one Discord and Telegram, and one subscription, so anyone who has installed any of them sees this one.
- Good enough product, decent reputation: rated 4.5, above Auto Vibes' 3.3. It has the full feature set this category needs: Text / Frame / Ingredients to Video, Text / Image to Image, concurrency, random delays, per-project folders, numbered file names, 5-second stitching, and a visual workflow canvas. Auto Vibes' free tier can't generate at all, which is a bad fit for people who came for 'free and unlimited.'
- Rides the 'Meta free unlimited AI video' wave: vibes.ai itself is a hit topic on YouTube (several videos with 20k–75k views), and tutorial creators covering vibes.ai casually recommend a bulk extension, mostly this one, or the one that shares its name.
6. Differentiation
- On features, it has almost no differentiation: its peers (Auto Vibes, MetaBatch, TryAIToday) all have queues, reference images, first/last frame, and auto-download. Auto Vibes' features are actually more granular.
- The real differences are three: (a) speed, launching the day after the platform event; (b) the portfolio and the name, the most literal 'Vibes Automation' plus 15 same-template extensions cross-promoting each other; (c) low barrier, at least until October it was recommended as a free tool, while the leading rival's free tier doesn't work.
- These differences are why it took off, but none of them is a moat: TryAIToday has already copied the name, anyone can build the features, and the lifeline still sits in Meta's hands.
7. Visibility
- Chatter in small circles: the faceless-YouTube and AI-automation tutorial scene (French, Portuguese, Hindi, English) knows it; x-radar has 0 mentions; no media coverage; revenue not disclosed, and it isn't listed on TrustMRR.
- The developer's full portfolio pricing is public on the website, but per-extension revenue isn't visible.
8. Copycats
It's already happening. Within 07-12 to 07-14 three days, Vibes.ai Automator, TryAIToday's Vibes Automation (name copied), and Automation for Vibes AI all appeared; add Auto Vibes and Meta x Vibes Automator, which migrated from meta.ai. Apart from Auto Vibes, all are under 1,000 users.
9. Takeaways
- Watch big companies' product migrations, redesigns, and shutdowns: the day a feature moves from site A to site B, every tool on site A stops working and site B is empty. Anyone holding the site-A version can claim site B first just by changing the URL.
- One template covers every free AI generation site (Grok, Flow, Meta, Vibes, Qwen, Seedance, Dola, Muse, Canva…), always named 'X Automation - Auto X on X.com'. That claims the search terms for each site, and the store's related slots fill up with its own products. It finally monetizes through a $3/month or $25/year bundle subscription.
- The name is the word people search for: the tutorial may recommend someone else's product, but viewers search the store for the generic term.
- A low-priced, non-auto-renewing subscription that lowers the payment barrier for creators in India, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
10. Still unclear
- Whether Vibes Automation now requires a subscription to use isn't clear (the store doesn't list in-app purchases, the website says all extensions have moved to paid, and some October bloggers say it's free). Paid user count and revenue are completely unknown.
- The curve before late August (how 07-09 to 08-31 grew from 0 to about 10k) has no direct data; the extops figures are quoted from the recall card, and I haven't verified them.
- Whether Meta Automation prompted users inside the extension to migrate to the Vibes version is unverified.
- The YouTube Data API quota ran out today, so view counts were pulled by reading the video pages with Jina (2026-11-06).
- Risk: Meta has already shut down video on meta.ai once. If vibes.ai adds quotas, tightens risk controls, or changes its page structure, the whole category takes a hit. Meta One's paid tier (2026-09-15) could also tighten free generation.
