EA makes players click cards one at a time, so he wrote a one-click version: fodder.gg grew to 20K users in two months in the FUT plugin market, which is crowded with veteran players

What it is A Chrome extension embedded in the EA FC Ultimate Team web app. It automatically builds squads from the players in your club to complete challenges, opens packs in bulk, and plans your collection. Premium features cost $4.99 a month.

Why it took off For EA's year-end FC 26 FUTTIES event, the new cards came without PlayStyles, so players had to add them by hand in Evo Lab. A player-developer released a free one-click script first, replied to complaint threads to drive installs, and launched on the Chrome Web Store in August. That timed it for the install peak when FC 27's web app opened in September. Small creators in Brazil, Latin America, and Poland then spread it through tutorials.

CHow you could follow it Don't build another all-in-one SBC solver. Watch the new headaches EA creates each time it changes the rules, ship a free mini-tool within days, reply in complaint threads, give it to small creators in non-English markets, and get on the store before next year's September launch. Or apply the same playbook to other games with web versions and clunky interfaces.

Grade C: the category already has five or six players with over 100K users, and a wave of copies appeared in the same season, so its entry point has already been taken by the leaders. Growth depends on one-off game rule changes plus the annual launch window, and it is entirely dependent on EA's web app. The tactics are worth learning, but copying the product itself isn't worth it. It's being talked about in small circles

fodder.gg is a Chrome extension for the EA FC web app. It automatically builds squads from the players in your club to complete challenges, opens packs in bulk, and plans your collection. The category has been around for ten years, and the leaders have 200K to 300K users. It got in through a problem EA created itself, and it timed its launch with the FC 27 web app opening, growing from about 2 thousand users in early September to 20K by mid-October. Below: how it squeezed into the market, where the money comes from, and whether it's worth running the same play next September.

"10 players, 2 minutes"

In 2026 July 24, EA ran its year-end FUTTIES event in FC 26. The new rule for this batch: cards ship with no PlayStyles at all. Players have to go into Evo Lab and add them one by one. Each card gets a dozen or so skills, and a squad has eleven players. A post on r/EASportsFC asked, "Is there a faster way to add these? Doing 12 one at a time is torture." Another r/EASportsFC thread was titled "Is it just me who hates these blank PlayStyle cards?"

A player called Ziggy (@nezygis on GitHub and X) was already prepared. In June 28, he posted a free script on GitHub that adds PlayStyles to a single player or a whole squad in bulk on the web app, and he posted on r/fut: "Adding PlayStyles is so annoying, so I fixed it." When FUTTIES started, he posted again: "FUTTIES again, adding PlayStyles is still annoying, so I fixed it again." Under a post by the Romanian FUT account @fifa_romania complaining about "zero PlayStyles on FUTTIES," he replied: "I made a free plugin that does this, EA probably won't."

In July 26, player @Kimpembro reposted the fodder.gg post on X: "The best tool for adding PlayStyles. I added about 10 players in 2 minutes." Another Reddit comment was even more dramatic: "12 PlayStyles in about 3 seconds."

This small script later grew into fodder.gg. The GitHub repo has only 29 stars, and its homepage now reads: "This project has grown into fodder.gg."

What it actually is

EA FC's Ultimate Team mode has a web version (Web App), and many players use it on a PC to manage their club, do SBCs (Squad Building Challenges: build a squad that meets set conditions to earn rewards), and buy and sell on the transfer market. fodder.gg is a toolbar embedded in this web app.

An extension with 20K users having only 5 ratings looks odd, but it's typical for this category: the leader FUTGenie has 200K users and only 108 ratings. Players install it and use it, and nobody comes back to rate it.

How it grew from 2 thousand to 20K

Step one: use a free script to gather users. 7 in August, it was still a script you had to install through Tampermonkey. The spread happened within player communities: replies under complaint posts from big X accounts, Reddit comments like "saw this here last week, it's called fodder.gg," and a YouTube FUT creator with 26.7K subscribers, Nahweeezy, who posted "This free AI plugin basically plays FC for you" in July 30 (4,612 views, 26).

Step two: get on the store before the launch. In August 6, the official blog laid out the next step: "Having to install a script manager is enough to make unfamiliar users give up." Two days later, it was on the Chrome Web Store. The same post also said: "When a new game launches and demand peaks, big web app updates are the most likely to break third-party tools," so the whole of August went into re-architecting for FC 27.

Step three: ride the launch. FC 27's web app went live in September 16, which is the few weeks a year when FUT players install the most tools. The third-party extension stats went like this: 9-01 about 2 thousand, 9-28 about 6 thousand, 10-05 about 10K, 10-18 about 20K, and then it plateaued at around 20K (the store only shows approximate figures, so the real number may be between 20K and 30K).

Step four: small creators in other languages spread it. The Brazilian Portuguese creator oparazim's "FC 26 card opening 10x faster, 100% free tool" got 10.6K views. Another Brazilian creator, CesarOne, taught how to install it on mobile through Tampermonkey, 4,500 views. The Spanish creator ElCordero covered using it to plan your collection, 2,600 views. The Polish TikTok account OjciecTrapcio posted one in September 29 that got 3,305 likes and 2,071 saves. The official site has 7 language versions to serve these audiences, and it runs an affiliate program recruiting TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch creators for revenue share. It's impossible to tell which videos were paid.

Its own TikTok account had only 6 followers as of November 32. I found no evidence it runs paid ads.

Where the money comes from

For FC 26, Gold was a one-time $5 purchase, "good until the end of the season, not a subscription," and the blog said that $5 covered server costs. Starting with FC 27, it switched to a subscription: $4.99/month or $29.99/year, cheaper than FUTGenie (from £6.49/month) and EasySBC ($7.99/month).

The free tier is generous. The blog says plainly: "Things that are free now will stay free. Plenty of players can't afford a subscription, and for others the issue isn't money at all; they simply don't have a payment method that works where they live." Gold only sells what heavy users need: completing an entire challenge set at once, building squads with market players and buying them all in one click, and getting 20 plan options per run. The blog says both Gold features were requested by players on Discord.

Paying users and revenue are not public, and the developer hasn't shared any numbers. How many of the 20K users bought Gold is not visible from outside. Given how generous the free tier is, it seems to care more about user count than revenue right now (inference).

Every tool solves SBCs. fodder.gg's angle is to start from small pains EA and the big players haven't gotten to yet: PlayStyles and Gallery management. Its free tier is more generous, it's cheaper, no sign-up is needed, and it asks for permission only on its own site, reading Gallery data "only in your browser." In a category where everyone fears an EA ban, that's a selling point. On Reddit, someone asked: "Fodder.gg or Paletools for Gallery? I know auto-buying gets you banned."

If it were you

C: The playbook is worth studying, but copying it as an FUT extension isn't worth it. The niche already has five or six players with 100k+ users, and a wave of same-style newcomers launched after September. fodder.gg's own entry point, FUTGenie, has already copied it. It grew on a one-time pain point (FUTTIES with zero PlayStyles), an annual launch window, and a developer who is a heavy player and ships several versions a week.

Good fit for: Developers who are heavy FUT players, hang out on r/fut and Discord, and are willing to stay up every September fighting EA's changes. Or, more broadly: developers building for a game that has a web version, rules that change every year, and a clunky official UI, such as sports manager, card game, or MMO auction-house tools. Copy the fodder.gg playbook there.

Bad fit for: People who don't play the game (you won't know where the pain is). People who want a steady business (everything depends on EA's web app; if EA changes it or starts banning third-party tools, you're done. Late summer is a trough, and nobody knows how many users carry over between seasons). People hoping to win with a generic "AI solves SBCs" feature; that space is already taken by a product with 300k users.

How to do it: Don't build a big all-in-one SBC solver. Watch for the new headaches each EA rule change creates, like zero PlayStyles or the Gallery page breaking at web launch. Ship a free mini-tool within days of the pain appearing, start as a script, and move to a store only once you've validated it. You could also target what fodder.gg does poorly: its mobile support depends on Tampermonkey, while many players only play on their phones. Or go after a language region it doesn't cover.

How to get users: Follow their path. Reply under big accounts' complaint posts with "I made a free one." On r/fut, post with titles like "X is annoying, so I fixed it." Give the extension to mid-sized FUT creators who make Portuguese, Spanish, and Polish content, and have them record install tutorials in exchange for a revenue share. In English, FUTGenie has run an affiliate program for years, so newcomers will struggle to win over creators there.

When's the window: Going by past timing, the FC 28 web version probably launches around mid-September of 2027 (estimate). To hit that window, you need to be live in stores by August, 6, and have people in the player community knowing your name by July, same as fodder.gg did this year. Otherwise, the first one or two weeks after EA rolls out a new event rule are the window.

Signs you've got it wrong: (1) fodder.gg passes 100k users around next year's launch, or publishes revenue, which means the niche is still growing and newcomers can still break in. Following it is worth more than this report suggests. (2) Two or three of the same-style apps launched after September (Magister, EZFC, and others) pass 50k, which means the launch window alone is enough to take off, with no special angle needed. (3) The reverse: EA starts mass-banning accounts that use extensions, or builds batch PlayStyle adding and one-click SBC into its official web app. In that case, these extensions all lose users together, so don't invest further.

One line

An extension for the EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team web app that automates SBC (Squad Building Challenge) solving using players in your own club, batch-opens packs, sorts cards, plans Gallery, and handles transfer market shortcuts. The paid Gold tier ($4.99/month or $29.99/year) solves SBCs with market players and buys them directly, solves full SBC sets at once, and includes Squad Builder.

Verdict

This isn't a new category. FUT web app helper extensions have been around for a decade (FUTGenie, AutoSBC, FC Enhancer, EasySBC, Paletools, and SBC Monkey each have tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of users). fodder.gg took off because three things stacked together:

  1. A pain point EA created, used as a wedge: FC 26's FUTTIES event (from 2026-07-24) shipped every card with zero PlayStyles, so players had to add them one by one in Evo Lab, which was extremely tedious. The developer, Ziggy (GitHub/X @nezygis), open-sourced a free mini-script for batch-adding PlayStyles/Evolutions at the end of June. He replied under complaint posts from big FUT accounts such as @fifa_romania to drive traffic, and posted "It's FUTTIES and adding playstyles still sucks, so I fixed it again" on r/fut. The mini-script grew into fodder.gg.
  2. Timing: 7–August FC 26 late in the cycle, the project built users as a userscript plus a Discord. 8-08 It went up on the Chrome Web Store (the official blog 8-06 announced "next up is one-click install from the Chrome Store, to prep for FC27"), then rode the FC 27 Web App 9-16 launch, the once-a-year window with the highest demand. extops curve: 9-01 2k → 9-28 6k → 10-05 10k → 10-18 20k.
  3. Generous free tier + tutorial distribution through mid-sized creators: Solving SBCs, opening packs, and Gallery are free for your own club, with no sign-up. Mid-sized FUT creators on YouTube and TikTok making Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, French, and English content, either on their own or through the affiliate program, make install tutorials that feed into the multilingual sites.

The differentiation is a more generous free tier, a developer who is a heavy player and ships quickly, and niche pain points like PlayStyles and Gallery that others don't cover. It isn't SBC solving itself, since every competitor does that. At scale it's still small next to the category (20k store users vs. FUTGenie's 200k, and 800k+ self-reported).

3. Why it took off

  • Why users are arriving now: FC 27 Web App 2026-09-16 launched, the peak window of the year for FUT players to install tools. The curve more than tripled from late September to mid October (6k→20k). Late FC26's FUTTIES (7/24–8/28) with "zero PlayStyles + unlimited 85x10 upgrade SBCs" drove a surge in demand for bulk repeat SBCs and bulk PlayStyle adding. fodder.gg surfaced right then and built its first users and Discord.
  • Where they came from: replies under big FUT accounts' posts on X, Reddit r/fut and r/EASportsFC word of mouth, and install tutorials from mid-tier FUT YouTubers/TikTokers across languages. 7 languages on the store page and site serve players in Latin America, Poland, France, Korea and China.
  • Why they stay / pay: the free tier already does club SBC solving, pack opening, Gallery planning, pricing and Meta Rating, with no signup required. Gold sells "one-click full SBC runs, solving and buying from the market, Squad Builder, Routines", which are time-savers for heavy SBC grinders. In FC26 Gold was a one-time $5 (blog 8-06); from FC27 it became a $4.99/month or $29.99/year subscription, cheaper than FUTGenie (£6.49/month) and EasySBC ($7.99/month).
  • The developer is a player: the blog post "How to grind SBCs effectively, from the creator of fodder.gg" (8-15) and "How to earn Gallery Tokens and reach Level 10" (10-12) show features through the creator's own grinding. Gold's two features are openly stated as requests from Discord users. Since late October it has shipped several releases a week (store updated 11-05, version 1.3.22).

4. Differentiation

  • Different entry point: rivals start from "AI solves SBCs". It starts from "bulk-adding PlayStyles / Evolutions", a pain point EA created, then grew into an SBC/pack/Gallery suite. This is one of the main reasons it got its first users in a crowded niche.
  • Bigger free tier + lower price + no signup: "Everything currently available for free will remain free", explicitly catering to overseas players who can't afford or can't pay. About 30–40% cheaper than the leader.
  • Restrained permissions and "you review before submitting": the extension requests permission for just the fodder.gg site. The Gallery page states "favorites data is read only in your browser and never sent to us". No automatic sniping or trading. In a niche where players fear EA bans, this is a trust selling point (Reddit worries like "auto buying gets you banned").
  • First to the Gallery tool: at FC27 launch the official web version couldn't reach Gallery. fodder.gg offered cost comparison and auto-buying the cheapest missing cards, and a Spanish tutorial covered this specifically. A wave of new extensions with "Gallery" in their titles followed.
  • But the core "solve SBCs" isn't unique: FUTGenie also does "quick PlayStyle adding" (there's a tutorial "How to Apply Playstyles Instantly in FC26 with Fut Genie"). The differentiation window is fairly short; the long-term edge rests on iteration speed and community.

5. Visibility and copycats

  • Visibility: spreading within a small circle. No public revenue (not on TrustMRR, founder hasn't shared numbers). Not specifically covered by media or big X accounts; spread happens through mid-tier FUT creators (thousands to tens of thousands of views) and Reddit comment sections. The owned TikTok has only 32 followers.
  • Copycats: FUTGenie followed with quick PlayStyle adding. Since 2026-09, FUT Dealer ("SBC Solver, Trader & Gallery"), EZFC (11-02, "SBC, Gallery, Squads & Evolutions"), FutCheck, Magister and others have launched with titles and feature combos very similar to fodder.gg, but all are still small (hundreds to 10k users). Whether they're directly copying it is unverified.

6. Takeaways

  • Target the "new tedium" that the platform creates itself (EA changes rules → manual work explodes). Enter first with a free small tool, and reply under complaint threads. That gets noticed more easily than building generic features.
  • Validate with an open-source/free userscript → build a Discord → list in the store before the annual major release to cut install friction to one click, and ride the seasonal traffic peak.
  • The free tier only cuts what heavy players need in scale and time-saving, with pricing kept below the leader. A multilingual site plus an affiliate program gets non-English mid-tier creators to make tutorials for you.
  • Feeling safe is the selling point: minimal permissions, data stays in the browser, human confirmation before submitting.

7. Uncertain

  • 20k is an approximate store figure; after 10-18 it may already be in the 20k–30k bracket. Actual paying users and revenue are completely unknown.
