A tweet bookmarked 2,100 times sent traffic from a 5-follower author's Blender skill pack to over 700 stars
What it is An open-source Blender 5.2 skill pack with 28 skills. It teaches coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor to model, rig, bake, and export to game engines step by step, then automatically checks for problems before delivery.
Why it took off After Blender's official MCP launched, agents could connect to Blender but kept doing things wrong. This fills the gap of "how to do it right." An AI tools account with about two thousand followers recommended it in a post 10-18, bringing roughly 220 stars in two days. Later, skills directory sites auto-indexed it, creating a long tail of traffic.
BHow you could follow this Stop making Blender versions. Pick a professional software that just got an agent channel but has no systematic workflow written for it yet. Write skills by workflow step, include tests and a side-by-side before/after comparison, state the version and supported agents in the title, and get an AI tools account with two or three thousand followers to repost it.

A former Roblox developer wrote the full Blender pipeline (modeling, rigging, baking, exporting to game engines) as a skill pack that coding agents can read, released under MIT. In just over three weeks it picked up about 740 stars, mostly from one tweet posted by someone else. The author himself has only 5 followers on X. The project is genuinely useful, but the same thing already has a dozen-plus repos from the past 2026 years. The lesson here is the playbook: picking a different professional software is a better bet than building yet another Blender version.
One tweet, 220 stars in two days
In 2026 October 18 morning 9:15 (UTC), the AI tool recommendation account @hakimieiqbal (about 2,600 followers) posted:
20 Blender 5.2 skills that give AI agents an actual 3D production workflow
Below it, the repo's covered workflows are listed (modeling, sculpting, topology and UVs, PBR materials and baking, geometry nodes, rigging and animation, rendering, export to Roblox / Unity / Unreal / Godot). The last line hits the point:
The useful part here is that it gives coding agents a repeatable Blender process instead of forcing them to improvise with bpy every time.
(The useful part is that it makes the coding agent follow a fixed Blender workflow every time, instead of improvising bpy scripts from scratch.)
By Nov 6 the tweet had 67k impressions, 1,369 likes, and 2,159 bookmarks. More bookmarks than likes is the classic "save it for later" pattern. The repo gained about 140 stars that day and another 80 the next day (trendshift daily data). Before this, it had been adding single digits a day.
The repo author, EL4CTEO, registered his GitHub account in June 2025. He has 15 followers, and his bio reads "former Roblox developer, open-sourcing MCP and agent skills for Roblox / Blender." His X account has only 5 followers. The repo was created in Oct 14, and many commits carry "Co-Authored-By: Claude," so the skill pack itself was most likely written by an agent (inference).
What it is
One folder with 28 "skills" (20 at launch). Each skill is a SKILL.md doc plus several Blender Python scripts, telling the agent how to do one workflow step, in what order, and which pitfalls to avoid. For example, blender-texture-baking handles normal and AO map baking, blender-character-rigging handles Rigify rigs and skinning, blender-export-pipelines handles export to each game engine, and blender-asset-qa checks for z-fighting, floating parts, flipped normals, weights, and missing textures before delivery.
The supported agents are listed in the repo title: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor, and the README adds OpenCode. There are three install methods: one command through the Claude Code plugin marketplace, clone and run the install script, or npx skills. It also works without the Blender MCP, since the agent launches a headless Blender in the background to run scripts. The repo includes 67 tests that run in real Blender.
The README's first screen shows a comparison image that links to a comparison page: the same model and the same prompt, run once with skills and once without, no retries and no edits, across five tasks: a 4K concrete wall material, cloth simulation of a blanket settling onto a bed, a pistol firing and reloading animation, rigging and walk cycle for an RTS soldier, and reducing a 5,370-face model to half its polygons. On the side with skills, the pistol was split into 19 named parts, the soldier was exported as FBX and GLB, and each task gained a QA check image.
Why now
- The channel already exists. In April 2026, Blender shipped an official MCP. Anthropic made it a Claude Blender connector the next day. The earlier open-source version, ahujasid/blender-mcp, already has 33k stars. Agents connecting to Blender is no longer news.
- Connected, but getting it wrong. Models often make mistakes writing bpy, and the output can't make it into an engine. On Reddit's r/aigamedev, people keep asking "How can I make Claude good at Blender?" and "Is there a way to make Claude a better 3D animator?" Users have moved from "can it connect?" to "can it do it right?" A skill pack fills exactly that gap.
- One repo covers every agent. Agent Skills became a cross-agent standard in 2026. The
.agents/skillsdirectory can be read by Codex, Gemini, Copilot, and Cursor alike. Build it once, and users of several agents can use it. - The version is in the title. Blender 5.2 is a new LTS release, and the title says "5.2," so it looks current and tested against the latest version.
Where the stars came from
| Source | Timeline | Results |

Key points:
- Never made GitHub Trending, and never got onto HN, Product Hunt, or big YouTube channels. One mid-sized tweet plus a pile of auto-indexing got it past 700 stars.
- Directory sites bring in traffic for free. The repo carries tags like
agent-skills,claude-skills,blender,game-assets, and skills directories crawl these tags automatically in 2026. skills.sh shows 6.7K cumulative installs, but that is summed across 28 separate skills, so real unique users are probably only a few hundred (estimate). - The comparison page converts; it didn't spark the spike. The comparison page went live in Oct 19, after the tweet. Its job is to make later visitors more willing to star the repo, and it gave others ready-made material for "Before & After" videos.
- The fork-to-star ratio is about 10% (GitHub: 11-06 stars, 739 forks... 75), suggesting some people weren't just browsing; some actually took it and modified it.
- Growth is slowing: 11-06 in the first 7 days +146, and the stretch before that was +7 over 172 days.
Who else does the same thing
This topic is already crowded. From 2026 through October 7, more than a dozen Blender + agent skill repos appeared:
| Project | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| arjun988/blender-skills | 2026-07 | About 1,960 stars, +7 in the last 415 days | Same name, three months earlier, 94 skills, depends on MCP to operate a running Blender. Nearly 3 times larger than this one and growing faster |
| scenario-labs/skills | 2026-08 | About 3.3K stars | An all-in-one suite for images, video, and 3D generation. Blender is only one part. Backed by a company |
| achimala/dream-loop, viettranx/3dviz-pro-max, and others | 2026-09 | 1–1.8K star | Aims at good-looking 3D visuals, not game asset delivery |
| XliuXjianX/blender-production-skills | 2026-08 | 281 star | Chinese-language, targets Codex |
| kevinbadi/blender-skills | 2026-04 | 247 star | Focuses on product showcases and camera animation |
| majidmanzarpour/blender-game-skills | 2026-09 | 173 star | Only does the "concept art to game asset" path, supports Claude Code only |
| mromidev/claude-blender-skills | 2026-10-25 | 54 star | Launched 11 days later, focused on realistic animation |
EL4CTEO's version stands out for the most complete workflow (all the way to engine export, plus QA), the ability to run without the Blender UI, and tests and a comparison page. These make it easy to repost and bookmark, but it has no real moat: the skill files are just text and scripts that anyone can write, and the author himself wrote them with an agent.
What to learn from it
- Once the channel exists, fill in the workflows. Once a professional software gets an official MCP or a usable scripting interface, agents can connect to it, and the next problem is always "doing it wrong." Writing that industry's workflows as skills is exactly what this repo does.
- Put the version number and supported agents in the title. "Blender 5.2" + "Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot and Cursor" so people who repost can copy it straight, and people searching can find it.
- Make a with/without comparison. Same model, same prompt, one run each, side by side with a drag slider. Beats any feature list.
- Fill in the tags and stay compatible with skills.sh and plugin marketplaces, so directory sites pick it up on their own.
- Find AI tool recommenders with 2–5K followers. This time one account with ~2,000 followers brought more stars than every other channel combined.
If it were you
Verdict: don't build another Blender skill pack. A dozen people are already on that path, and the biggest one is three times the size of the next. Running the same playbook on a different pro software that just got an agent channel and has no systematic workflow write-up yet has a real chance at a few hundred stars.
Who it's for: developers who have actually used a pro tool (3D, CAD, video editing, audio, PCB design, game engines) and know what steps a job takes from start to finish. Whether the skills are right is only obvious to insiders.
Who it's not for: people who don't know the industry and just want to mass-generate skill files with an agent. There are already many of these repos, wrong workflow steps make the agent do worse work, and that shows up immediately in a comparison image. It's also not for anyone hoping to make money from it. This path gets you stars and reputation.
How: first pick the software. It should have an MCP or scripting interface, people on forums asking "how do I get Claude to use X well," and no GitHub repo with more than a few hundred stars for "X skills" (candidates like Houdini, DaVinci Resolve, FreeCAD, KiCad, Godot; whether someone already does them is unverified). Split skills by workflow step, pair each with auto-runnable scripts and tests, and add a QA skill for pre-delivery checks. Build the comparison page before launch: same model, same sentence, one run.
How to get users: put the full software version and agent list in the repo name and description, tag it agent-skills, claude-skills and the software name; post in that software's subreddit and r/claudeskills; DM a few AI tool recommenders with 2–3K followers, attaching the comparison image or video.
How early: the earlier the better. The window for each pro software is probably only a few months after its official MCP launches. Blender went from official MCP release to saturation in about half a year. Models are also getting better at writing these scripts on their own, so the value of skill packs like this keeps dropping (inference).
Signs you're reading it wrong: two weeks after launch and two or three posts and threads in, you're still under 100 stars; or the tool you picked already has a competitor on GitHub with over a thousand stars; or the before-and-after comparison doesn't show a visible difference with and without the tool.

EL4CTEO/blender-skills research report
Research date 2026-11-06. Channel: GitHub.
One line
This is an MIT-licensed Blender 5.2 skill pack for coding agents including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor and OpenCode. It currently has 28 skills, 20 at launch. It breaks modeling, UV, PBR, baking, rigging, animation, export to Roblox/Unity/Unreal/Godot, and asset QA into per-step SKILL.md files plus bpy scripts. It works without MCP: the agent runs headless Blender in the background, and it ships with 67 tests that run in real Blender.
Takeaway: it grew mainly through distribution tactics, plus timing. A X account with only 2637 followers, @hakimieiqbal, posted about it on 10-18 and got 1369 likes, 2159 bookmarks and 67k impressions. Stars rose about 220 the same day and the next, the biggest chunk of all its growth. The long tail came from skills aggregator sites, AI news sites, multilingual reposts, and the author dropping links in replies on X. The product itself has packaging highlights like "one-stop full pipeline + tested + with/without comparison page," but technically there's no moat. The earlier, larger same-category project arjun988/blender-skills already has around 2000 stars.
Data
- Repo created 2026-10-14; as of 11-06 it has 739 stars and 75 forks (GitHub API). Fork/star ratio about 10%.
- Daily gains (trendshift.io, bucketed by day): 10-17 +4 → 10-18 +140, 10-19 +80 → 10-20 +38 → 10-22 +77 → then steady at 15–35 per day. Our github repo: gain_7d 146, previous 7 days 172. The biggest single day, +122, is recorded on 10-20 (our date convention runs one day behind trendshift).
- Never made GitHub Trending and never reached the top 25 on trendshift.
- skills.sh shows 6.7K installs, with blender-core at 459 installs (skills.sh/el4cteo/blender-skills). Individual skills on learn-skills.dev show downloads in the dozens.
- Releases: v0.1.0 on 10-14, v1.1.0 on 10-16 (adds weather/time-of-day), v1.2.0 on 10-30 (adds 6 skills, mocap retargeting, QA texture checks). Many commits carry "Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5," so the author built it with an agent too.
Author
- GitHub account EL4CTEO, created 2025-06,15 followers ago. Bio reads "Former Roblox developer, open-sourcing MCPs and agent skills for Roblox / Blender." Other projects are small: roblox-skills 85 stars, rbx-studio-mcp 14 stars, discord-mcp, x-mcp, and more. A solo dev who ships high-frequency, batch open-source agent tools.
- X account @EL4CTEO has only 5 followers (X API). Recent activity is mainly dropping links in replies to others' posts, e.g. replies to @N8Programs, @pipeline_os, @cloudxdev ("update your skills bro they are already antique"). One reply got 1493 impressions. There are also many insulting or offensive replies. No revenue found; the project has no paid tier.
Growth tactics (by strength of evidence)
- Reposts from a mid-sized X account (confirmed, the main driver): @hakimieiqbal posted at 2026-10-18 09:15 UTC: "20 Blender 5.2 skills that give AI agents an actual 3D production workflow…" Numbers: 1369 likes, 91 reposts, 2159 bookmarks, 67,335 impressions (X API, x.com/hakimieiqbal/status/2111747882843873538). Bookmarks outnumber likes, typical of a "save for later" tool post. Timing lines up exactly with the star spikes (10-18 +140, 10-19 +80). kitrank.dev also credits this post as its source.
- Reddit self-post (exists, effect unverified): r/claudeskills has a post "I made 20 Blender 5.2 agent skills so AI can actually model, rig, bake and export game-ready…" written in the author's voice (visible in search results; Reddit body blocked by anti-scraping, so upvotes and timing can't be read). Around the same time r/aigamedev had someone asking "How can I make Claude good at Blender?", showing the demand already existed.
- Auto-listed by aggregators and AI news sites (confirmed): codestuff.io picked it as Repo of the Day on 10-16, the earliest external exposure. Then came Reveneau (10-19, 273 stars at the time), AIGamer (10-29), skills.sh, typingmind, skillsllm, claudeers, onei.ai, gameskill.dev, quickmatch, codexstacks (11-03 ran an install check), learn-skills, qai.io, vibecodingdiscover, repoburst, kitrank. Skills directories in 2026 automatically crawl repos tagged agent-skills, so the long-tail traffic was nearly free.
- Multilingual secondhand reposts (confirmed, small volume): Japanese @plattypuus 10-30 posted (135 impressions), Turkish @bilimvetekno847 10-31 posted, Chinese @kong1060769 11-01 posted ("Install blender-skills into Codex, then connect Blender via MCP…", 261 impressions), @sonuv_dev 11-05 posted "CLAUDE CODE IS RUNNING A WHOLE 3D STUDIO INSIDE BLENDER NOW???" (694 impressions). All small accounts.
- Author drops links in replies on X (confirmed, small effect): see above.
- With/without comparison page (confirmed, works as conversion material): el4cteo.github.io/blender-skills/comparison/. Same model Opus 5.5, same prompt, one run each, 5 tasks completed in one shot, side by side with a drag slider. The README shows the image up front, giving reposters ready-made Before & After material. @sonuv_dev's post made its video from it.
- Didn't find HN, Product Hunt, big YouTube channels, or paid promotion. The source of the 10-22 +77 spike isn't identified (unverified; could be a Reddit post or an aggregator article).

| Paid Blender MCPs such as StraySpark's | Paid | 2026 | Not verified | Paid servers |
Takeaway: this niche isn't empty, it's getting crowded. A dozen-plus "Blender + agent skills" repos appeared between 2026 7 and October.
Why now
- In 2026-04, Blender Lab released an official MCP, and Anthropic turned it into Claude's Blender connector, making "Claude operating Blender" both legitimate and mainstream. ahujasid's repo grew to 33k stars.
- The channel now exists, but general models often get bpy code wrong, so user pain shifted from "can it connect" to "can it do it right." The question in r/aigamedev is one example. Skills fill exactly that workflow-knowledge gap.
- In 2026, Agent Skills became a common format across agents.
.agents/skillscan be read by Codex, OpenCode, Gemini, Copilot, and Cursor, and there are distribution CLIs and directory sites like skills.sh. Build once and you cover every agent, and the directory sites send traffic automatically. - It rides on Blender 5.2 LTS, a new version that's written right into the title as "5.2", which makes it look current and tested for that release.
Differentiation
- A complete workflow aimed at game-asset delivery: from modeling through export to Roblox/Unity/Unreal/Godot, plus QA gates (z-fighting, floating parts, normals, weights, missing textures). The goal is "deliver an asset that works in an engine," not "produce a nice-looking render."
- Verifiable: 67 tests run headless in real Blender, plus token budget checks. It can also run in the background without MCP.
- Evidence you can show others: a with/without one-shot comparison page.
- The widest install options: three channels, Claude plugin marketplace, install.sh/ps1, and npx skills.
These differences make it easy to explain (hakimi's post sold it on "has QA skills" and "no more improvising bpy every time"), but they aren't a moat. The same-named arjun988 is nearly 3 times larger and growing faster. So the direct reason it took off is that one X repost landed in a demand window; the differentiation is what made that repost credible and worth bookmarking.
Copycats
- mromidev/claude-blender-skills (2026-10-25,54 stars, "realistic Blender animations").
- TrevorHumble/Blender-Skills (mentioned in a Japanese post, a clay-animation workflow; stars unverified).
- gokayfem/video-to-blender (10-21), gaussian-splat-to-blender-nodes (10-24). AIGamer covered them in the same article as this project.
- The author is copying the same pattern: roblox-skills.
Visibility
Circulating in small circles. Basis: one X repost with 67k impressions, plus some AI news and aggregator coverage. No big accounts, HN, or press coverage, never on Trending, and no revenue to disclose (the project is free).
What to borrow
- The pattern "a specialist desktop app (DCC/CAD/editing/audio) × agent skills": once an official MCP or channel appears, add the workflow knowledge layer, and state the version number and supported agent list clearly in the title.
- Make a with/without one-shot comparison image to use as repost material.
- Tag it agent-skills / claude-skills and stay compatible with skills.sh and plugin marketplaces so directory sites index it automatically.
- Actively pitch reposts from "AI tool recommendation" accounts with 2–5K followers. The ROI is high.
Uncertain
- The Reddit post's publish time and vote count (blocked by anti-scraping).
- The source of the 10-22 +77 spike.
- Real usage depth: skills.sh's 6.7K installs are cumulative across 28 skills, so actual unique users may be only a few hundred.
- Whether @hakimieiqbal's post was paid promotion (no evidence).
