> It caught the October "one person rewriting Office with AI" wave. The author asked for stars directly on X, had contacts in the Chinese Omarchy community, and 10-19 moved to the new repo and shipped three-platform installers. It gained 300 stars the next day, and was then reposted by a batch of media and aggregator accounts.

# One person plus an AI pipeline, 19 days to 1200 stars: ElyOffice runs "old core, new shell"

**What it is** A free, offline, no-account desktop office suite. The UI is rewritten in Rust, and file opening and saving rely on LibreOffice and MuPDF.

**Why it took off** It rode the October wave of "one person rewriting Office with AI." The author directly asked for stars on X and had connections in the Omarchy Chinese community. After 10-19 moved to a new repo and shipped installers for three platforms, it gained 300 stars the next day, and a batch of media outlets and aggregator accounts later picked it up.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't build another Office. Find a niche category with a mature open-source engine underneath but a dated UI, rebuild the shell in a native framework using the same recipe, ship installers for all three platforms at once, and ask for stars at launch. This only works if you already have some distribution of your own.

Grade C: Office is already crowded with ten-plus projects. The top ones took dozens of times more stars with a "rewritten from scratch" story, ElyOffice is already fading, and much of its star count came from the author's existing reach. The recipe is learnable, but copying into Office isn't worth it. Circulating in small circles

Data (updated daily) · Repo created 2026-10-19 · 1,330 stars · 7 days +185

In 2026 October, a dozen or so "AI rewrites Office" projects suddenly appeared in open source. ElyOffice is one of them: a Rust UI running LibreOffice and MuPDF underneath, free, offline, no account required. It reached 1222 stars (GitHub, 11-06), upper-middle of the pack, and is already declining. Below: what it is, where the stars came from, why some projects in the same category hit 70k while others only got 400, and which parts you should copy if you want a project that can earn stars too, and which parts to skip.

### A "please star and repost" tweet

At noon Beijing time on Oct 9, 2026, an X account called "Raiden Mei" (@ZacharyZhang) posted a tweet that opened with:

> ELY Office Suite is finally coming! Hope it worth a star and repost!

—ELY Office Suite is finally here. Hope it's worth a star and a repost.

The tweet laid out the details: written in Rust and GPUI (the UI framework from the Zed editor), with Word, PPT, Excel, PDF, Markdown, and a Git client; "the document core uses LibreOffice's LOK, and the PDF core comes from MuPDF"; "this is a very early beta with lots of bugs, don't use it for real work, and back up files before opening them"; "fully open source, no junk, no ads, fully local"; currently macOS only, with Linux and Windows coming next week, "and a little easter egg for @dhh's Omarchy Linux."

The same day, the tech blog techaeris published a long post titled "ElyOffice launches 6 native office apps written in Rust," calling it "possibly the first complete Rust-native office suite," and specifically noting that it stands in sharp contrast to "the subscription treadmill that dominates productivity software today."

Author Zachary Zhang is in New York. He says he is CTO of several startups, and his X bio reads "Omarchy CN." Before this he built Ely-GPUI-Components (claimed 1300 GPUI components), which has 555 stars on his personal account and 162 on his org account, plus an image viewer, OmaPhoto (263 stars). ElyOffice is built on this component library, so you can think of it as the library's flagship demo.

### What it actually is

Seven small apps, each handling one thing:

| App | What it does | Engine |
|---|---|---|
| ElyDoc | Documents (DOCX, ODT) | LibreOfficeKit |
| ElyTable | Spreadsheets (XLSX, ODS, CSV) | LibreOfficeKit |
| ElyShow | Slides (PPTX, ODP) | LibreOfficeKit |
| ElyPDF | Read, annotate, sign, fill forms, OCR scanned files | MuPDF, Tesseract |
| ElyTree | Git client without the command line | Git |
| ElyMark | Markdown, with formulas and charts rendered inline | Milkdown, CodeMirror |
| ElyMail | Email (added later) | — |

In short: **the hardest parts (opening, rendering, and saving Office files) are handed off entirely to LibreOffice, and the author only rewrote the shell and interaction** . He applied 51 patches to LibreOffice 26.2 and 5 to MuPDF, then set a "offline terms": no network on startup, recovery points stored only locally, and updates downloaded only when you manually click check for updates.

The upside of this route is speed: DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX work right away. There are signed and notarized macOS installers, Windows installers, and on Linux AppImage, deb, rpm, Arch, and Nix. Many of the contemporary projects claiming to be "pure Rust rewrites from scratch" are still at the demo stage.

### When the stars came in

The current repo was created on the night of Oct 19. In the same minute, the author moved a dozen or so repos from his personal account into the new org ELY-Open-Source. Before that, the project had only 15 stars on his own Gitea, and 10-09 on the personal-account repo (created 48).

v0.1.8 shipped the day of the move, the first version with installers for all three platforms, and downloads passed 2000 for the first time. In the days that followed:

| Date | Cumulative stars | On the day, roughly |
|---|---|---|
| 10-20 | 346 | 300 and change (Trendshift logged +303) |
| 10-21 | 520 | +174 |
| 10-22 | 702 | +182 |
| 10-24 | 924 | about a hundred a day |
| 10-28 | 1075 | thirty to forty a day |
| 11-06 | 1222 | ten-odd a day |

Data from GitHub's daily star counts. Last 7 days +125, the 7 days before that +275, so the weekly pace dropped by more than half. It was only in the top 25 of Trendshift's Rust language chart between 10-20 and 10-22 (ranked #9, #21, #17), and never made GitHub's official overall trending chart.

The shape is typical: **the launch wave shoots up, and a week later it's down to single digits or twenty-some a day** . Over 12 days there were 12 releases (v0.1.1 to v0.1.13), with roughly 18.7k cumulative installer downloads on GitHub (including upgrades). The website says "76,458 downloads so far," but the method isn't disclosed and the two numbers don't match (guess: the site counts update checks and the various apps separately).

### Where the stars came from

**1. The author's own X account, asking directly.** That 10-09 tweet was the starting point. 10-16 announced ELY Terminal, 10-23 posted 0.1.11's Chinese changelog, and 10-31 posted 0.1.13,11-02's promo video. Friends in the Chinese tech scene reposted it, and one person quoted it with just four words, "the big one is here" (who later became a contributor to the repo). The website homepage doesn't beat around the bush either: "Like it? Follow @ZacharyZhang on X and star the project on GitHub."

**2. Media and "GitHub trending" accounts repost it automatically.** techaeris 10-09, ubunlog 10-24 put it in a piece with two other projects titled "3 office suites built with AI, vibe coding, and reverse engineering"; a Chinese blogger 10-20 wrote an in-depth breakdown praising the compatibility list attached to every release; there are also Chinese aggregator sites like CSDN and 3kjs, GithubFinds on Facebook and Instagram, machine-generated "GitHub Overview" videos on YouTube, and the big X account @RoundtableSpace posted "a fully offline, free office suite..." 10-30. Most of this appeared on its own after the project went up on GitHub; the author didn't pitch anyone.

**3. The Omarchy circle.** Omarchy is a Linux distro built by DHH (creator of Ruby on Rails), for Linux users who want native, good-looking, fully keyboard-driven setups. The author is active in its Chinese community, and ElyOffice specifically offers "theme color follows Omarchy," so the product fits this crowd closely.

**What didn't work:** On Hacker News there was only one post by 10-09, with 1 points; the Reddit threads that took off were posted by others. No paid acquisition or ads were found.

### Why 1200, not 70k

In the same month, "AI single-handedly rewrites Office / Adobe" was itself a hot topic, and media were looking for projects to write about. Putting contemporaneous projects side by side:

| Project | Approach | Stars (approx., early November) |
|---|---|---|
| photocraft / pdfcraft / wordcraft(storytold) | Claims a pure Rust rewrite from scratch | 77k / 20k / 17k |
| VibeOffice | Runs in the browser, 2000-era retro style | 1273 |
| **ElyOffice** | GPUI native shell + LibreOffice engine | 1222 |
| ElixirOffice (Mandrake founder Gaël Duval) | Copies MS Office's UI and shortcuts | 715 |
| HermesOffice, GenOffice, Weave-Office, etc. | Focused on AI writing / agents | 150–620 |
| ibis-office | Also Rust + GPUI, and 4 days earlier | 433 |

Two things stand out.

First, **the story decides the star count, not the technical route** . "Rewriting all of Adobe from scratch" is far easier to tell than "swapping LibreOffice's skin," so storytold got dozens of times the stars, even though ElyOffice is more usable.

Second, **on the same technical route, having distribution channels makes a threefold difference** . ibis-office uses the same stack and shipped 4 days earlier, but has only 433 stars. What ElyOffice had extra was the author's year of building up an X following, the component library's longtime followers, the Omarchy circle, plus installers for all three platforms and frequent releases, which made it look like a seriously maintained project.

There's also a background detail worth knowing: the repo has 1453 commits, nearly all from the author's two accounts, with commit messages like "R16.27: round 2 PASS" and "acceptance checklist," and the repo contains agents.md and tasks/TASKS.md (inference: the author uses an AI agent to develop in batches from task lists). "One release a day" plus "a compatibility list for each release" relies on that pipeline.

### Where it falls short, or doesn't hold up

- **The moat is thin.** Everything beyond the shell comes from LibreOffice, and someone has already forked a Windows derivative (27 stars), with 83 forks across the repo.

- **The community is shallow.** 11 issues, with only sporadic outside contributions. How many people actually use it daily is impossible to tell.

- **The license changed.** At 10-09 release it was AGPL-3.0; the README now says MIT. Why it changed, and whether a commercial version will follow (the author has mentioned ElyAgent), aren't explained.

- **The category is already crowded.** Counting just "AI-made Office suites," there are a dozen or so, and the topic's heat peaked in October and is now fading.

### If it were you

**In one line:** C. Don't build yet another Office. This wave has passed and the field is packed, and the top spots were won by the "rewrite from scratch" story. What's worth copying is the recipe: find a category with a mature open-source engine underneath, but whose interface is outdated or only runs inside Electron, rebuild the shell with a native framework, ship installers for all three platforms at once, and ask for stars from day one.

**Who it suits:** developers who already have some distribution. Thousands of peers following you on X, or a familiar face in a small circle (a distro, an editor, a framework). Someone who can keep up a high release cadence with an AI agent, and who accepts that the project mainly builds reputation and followers.

**Who it doesn't suit:** anyone with no distribution channel who expects "good work gets stars on its own" (ibis-office is the counterexample: same stack, earlier, 433 stars); anyone who wants to squeeze into Office, PDF, or photo editing, topics storytold already holds; anyone hoping to make money from it.

**How to do it:**

- Choose the category. Three criteria: there's a mature C/C++ open-source engine you can embed directly; the existing open-source interfaces are widely seen as ugly or sluggish; and the user base feels strongly against subscriptions, cloud lock-in, and Electron. You could look at categories like email clients, e-book managers, audio editors, or local media players (inference; I haven't checked whether anyone is already building in each).

- Build a component or small tool first to gather people, then launch the "flagship." ElyOffice had a 555-star component library backing it.

- Ship installers for all three platforms at launch, signed. Notarize macOS, provide a Windows installer, and at minimum an AppImage on Linux. Projects with only screenshots and source code generally got no stars in this wave.

- Release often and document thoroughly. Each release with issue numbers and a compatibility list makes people believe "this project will survive" more than a pretty README does.

**How to get users:** open the launch tweet with "stars and reposts appreciated," put "Star us on GitHub + follow me" on the homepage; make a special easter egg for your own niche (ElyOffice's Omarchy theme sync is an example); write the one-line pitch as an emotion: "free, offline, no account, native"; after launch you don't need to pitch Hacker News yourself. Once you're on GitHub trending or a language chart, aggregator accounts and auto-generated video channels will come to you. Note that stars almost all come in during the first 5 days after launch, so all the preparation is for those 5 days.

**When to do it:** the novelty of the "AI single-handedly rewrites XX" topic may hold until about the end of 2026 (inference). If you're going to do it, launch before December and pick a category nobody has rewritten yet. After that window, you'll have to come up with a different story that's easy to tell.

**Signs that would mean you read it wrong:**

- Another "mature engine + native shell" project launched in an obscure category and couldn't get 300 stars in its first week, which suggests the recipe doesn't work without the author's own channels;

- ElyOffice's daily stars climb back to dozens or more after December (for example, a big account recommends it or it reaches GitHub's overall trending chart). That would mean it isn't just riding a passing topic and the long-term demand is real, and then it's worth seriously working on "the parts it did poorly," such as the Windows and Linux experience, collaboration, and AI features;

- Conversely, if the storytold projects turn out to be empty shells whose buzz falls off a cliff, while a product like ElyOffice that actually works keeps climbing, that shows "works" ends up worth more than "good story" in this category, so the judgment goes up.

## Why ElyOffice (ELY-Open-Source/ElyOffice) got off the ground

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data card: /home/ljr/fanout/why/cards/gh_ELY-Open-Source__ElyOffice.json. GitHub numbers come from the GitHub API and our github library (repo_day); web evidence is cited after each paragraph.

### Bottom line

ElyOffice is an offline desktop office suite of seven parts (documents, spreadsheets, slides, PDF, email, Git, Markdown): a shell written in Rust + GPUI (the UI framework of the Zed editor), with a patched LibreOfficeKit, MuPDF and Git as the core. It took off riding the 2026 October wave of "AI rewrites Office / Adobe", plus the author's personal distribution on X, Chinese tech circles and the Omarchy community. **The real product difference is "native GPUI shell + mature core + installers for three platforms + very high release cadence", not a custom engine** . The star curve has the typical shape of "a burst after release, then a fast decay": 10-20 added +303 in a single day, and a week later it was only gaining a dozen or two dozen a day.

### 1. Basic data

- Repo creation: the current org repo 2026-10-19 23:04 was created (over a dozen repos were created under the org in the same minute, a wholesale move from the personal account). The project is older: first commit 2026-10-09 (1453 commits in total), first published on the author's self-hosted Gitea (git.zacharyzhang.com) and the personal repo ZacharyZhang-NY/ElyOffice (created 2026-10-09, now 48 stars). Source: GitHub API; [blog.5616760.com/0054.html](https://blog.5616760.com/0054.html) (when 10-20 wrote it, Gitea had only 15 stars).

- Stars: 1230 (API, 11-06); repo_day: 10-20 346 → 10-24 924 → 10-28 1075 → 11-06 1222. Trendshift counts 19 days +956, single days: 10-20 +303, 10-21 +137, 10-22 +143, then fell to 6–46 a day; it was in the top 25 of Trendshift's Rust chart on only three days, 10-20 to 10-22 (#9 / #21 / #17). Source: [trendshift.io/repositories/312488](https://trendshift.io/repositories/312488)

- Over the last 7 days +125, the first 7 days +275 (data card), clearly slowing down.

- Releases: v0.1.1 through v0.1.13, 12 releases in total, shipped between 10-19 and 10-31. Installer files in the GitHub releases (excluding json/sig update manifests) total about 18.7k downloads, with each version from v0.1.8 on at 2.3k–3.6k; the Windows and macOS installers got 500–1600 downloads per version. The website claims "76,458 downloads so far"; the counting method isn't public, and it likely counts update checks and multiple apps separately (unverified). Source: GitHub releases API; [office.elygpui.com/](https://office.elygpui.com/)

- Contributors: Raiden-MeixElysia 1006 commits, ZacharyZhang-NY 433 commits; both are the author himself (Raiden Meixelysia / Zachary Zhang, New York, who says he is CTO of several companies including Koin.ai, X handle @ZacharyZhang, bio reads "Omarchy CN" and "Kimi Ambassador"). External contributors have only a handful of commits. Commit messages are things like "R16.27: round 2 PASS" and "acceptance checklist", clearly batch development by an AI agent working from task lists (the README also references agents.md and tasks/TASKS.md; the trend site shows @claude among the contributors).

- License: 10-09 was AGPL-3.0 at launch (techaeris and 5616760 blogs both recorded it that way), and the README now says MIT.

- The stargazer list API returns 404 / empty, so star quality can't be sampled (unverified).

### II. Competitors

In 2026 October a batch of open-source "AI / vibe coding Office rebuilds" appeared at once, and ElyOffice was just one of them. ubunlog's 10-24 article groups ArtCraft Office, ElixirOffice and Ely Office together under the headline "3 office suites built with AI, vibe coding and reverse engineering".

| Product | Form | Launched | Scale | How it differs from ElyOffice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LibreOffice | Open-source desktop | 2010 | Hundreds of millions of users; GitHub mirror 4.6k stars | ElyOffice takes its LibreOfficeKit core and only rebuilds the shell and interaction itself |
| ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors | Open-source desktop | 2016 | GitHub 5.7k stars | Custom JS engine, Electron/CEF-based shell; ElyOffice is a native GPUI shell + LO core |
| storytold's wordcraft / photocraft / pdfcraft (ArtCraft) | Open source, pure Rust | 2026-09-30 to 10-07 | wordcraft 17.4k, pdfcraft 19.8k, photocraft 77k stars | Claims a pure Rust clean-room rewrite from scratch, with one to two orders of magnitude more buzz than Ely; Ely reuses a mature engine, so compatibility is more solid, but the buzz is weaker |
| ElixirOffice (Gaël Duval, founder of Mandrake / eOS) | Open-source desktop + web | 2026-10-11 | 715 stars | Replicates MS Office's ribbon and shortcuts, pitching "painless migration"; Ely pitches native, offline, lightweight |
| VibeOffice(tcchen2026) | Web | 2026-10-08 | 1273 stars | Runs in the browser with a 2000s retro look; Ely is a native desktop app |
| ibis-office(ibisjp) | Open source, Rust + GPUI | 2026-10-05 | 433 stars | Same tech stack, and 4 days earlier; Ely wins because its installers for three platforms already work, its release cadence is fast, and the author has his own channels |
| HermesOffice, GenOffice, Weave-Office, tinylittleoffice | Open source, AI-native | 2026-08 to 11 | 150–620 stars | Focuses on AI writing / agents; Ely explicitly avoids cloud and accounts, with AI in the second batch (ElyAgent) |
| Microsoft 365 / Google Docs / Apple iWork | big tech | — | Billion-scale | Requires an account, goes through the cloud, or only runs on one platform; Ely's positioning is the opposite of these |

### 3. Growth tactics (where users come from)

1. **The author posted it himself on X** (confirmed): 10-09 @ZacharyZhang posted "ELY Office Suite is finally coming! Hope it worth a star and repost!", directly asking for stars and reposts; 10-16 posted ELY Terminal; 10-23 posted the 0.1.11 Chinese changelog; 10-31 posted 0.1.13; 11-02 posted a promo video. Friends in the Chinese tech community reposted it, e.g. @JetSquirrel2048 wrote "the big one is here" when retweeting (this person is also a repo contributor, Jet-SI). Sources: x.com/ZacharyZhang/status/2108417227665912028, 2113639265305268704, 2116375342474571887, 2117268260626256209.

2. **The website funnels directly to stars and follows** (confirmed): the homepage says "Like it? Follow @ZacharyZhang on X and star the project on GitHub".

3. **Tech media and aggregator accounts picked it up on their own** (confirmed): techaeris 10-09 wrote a long-form piece; We are Main Street 10-10; Chinese sites kjs, bbs1, CSDN (gitblog), the aosen source-code site and Huojianjun 3 mostly ran it between 10-16 and 10-20; 5616760 blog 10-20 published an in-depth breakdown. On the English side: reveneau 10-27, frontiernow 10-21, Facebook's GithubFinds, Instagram, and the auto-generated "GitHub Overview" videos on YouTube; wo.com added it to its 2026-W43 weekly chart. 10-30 X's big account @RoundtableSpace (part of 0 xMarioNawfal) posted "A free office suite that works fully offline…". All of this is content that came out automatically after the project got on GitHub's trending list, via the "GitHub trending projects" pipeline. Sources are linked at the bottom.

4. **Omarchy community** (confirmed): the author is an active member of the Chinese Omarchy community (DHH's Linux distro), the product specifically has "Omarchy theme sync", and omarchyarchive.com has 3 records of the author's posts. This crowd are Linux users who love native, good-looking, keyboard-driven tools, a close fit for the product.

5. **Trendshift / GitHub trending** (partly confirmed): 10-20 through 10-22 it appeared on Trendshift's Rust language chart; in our database trending_days_any = 0, meaning it never made GitHub's official overall trending chart.

6. **10-19 moved to a GitHub org and shipped Windows / Linux builds** (inferred): During the Gitea and personal-repo phase it had only a few dozen stars; 10-19 created the org repo, the same day shipped v0.1.8 (the first installer downloads topped 2k), and the next day added +303. The biggest surge came from "moving to GitHub + installable on three platforms + a wave of reposts" stacking together.

7. **HN / Reddit** : Only 10-09 HN post, with 1 points. On r/technology the hot post was storytold's, and no hot Reddit post by Ely himself turned up. Neither channel worked.

8. Ads, paid acquisition: no evidence found. Open-source and free, no monetization.

### 4. Why it took off

- **Timing** : In 2026 October, "one person rewriting Office / Adobe with AI" was already a hot theme (storytold's series of repos reached tens of thousands of stars, ElixirOffice and VibeOffice appeared around the same time). Media was looking for projects like this to cover, and ElyOffice rode the reposting wave (ubunlog listed it as one of the three flagship examples).

- **A one-liner that sells** : "Free, offline, no account, no cloud. A native Rust Office suite of seven apps, on all three platforms." Anti-subscription, anti-cloud, anti-Electron: each one hits a sentiment developers already share.

- **Actually installable and usable** : Built on LibreOfficeKit and MuPDF, it opens and saves DOCX / XLSX / PPTX / PDF. It ships a signed and notarized macOS build, a Windows installer, and AppImage / deb / rpm / Arch / Nix packages for Linux, with submissions to WinGet and Homebrew in progress. Most from-scratch pure-Rust competitors are still at the demo stage.

- **Fast releases, looks serious** : 12 releases in 12 days, each tied to issue numbers, plus a per-version compatibility checklist (5616760 blog explicitly praised this). It gives the impression of a project that is maintained with care. Behind it is an AI-agent pipeline.

- **An author with a personal brand already built** : His earlier Ely-GPUI-Components (555 stars on the personal account + 162 stars on the org, "1300 GPUI components") and OmaPhoto (263 stars) had already built a following in the GPUI / Omarchy circles. ElyOffice is the flagship showcase built on top of that component set.

### 5. Differentiation

Its biggest difference from similar projects is an **architecture choice** : a native GPUI shell (not Electron or web), a mature engine patched dozens of times underneath (LibreOffice with 26.2.6.3 plus 51 patches, MuPDF with 5), split into seven small apps that each handle one job, and a strict "offline covenant" (no network on startup, recovery points stored only locally, updates downloaded only when manually checked). This makes it the most compatible and earliest usable of the native-Rust Office projects.

This differentiation is **part of why it took off, but not the main reason** : the stars came mostly from narrative and reposts. ibis-office, also Rust + GPUI, has only 433 stars; storytold, a pure-Rust rewrite, got tens of times more stars through a bolder story. Which means narrative and distribution decide star counts, with the tech stack further back. Its moat is also thin: everything beyond the shell comes from LibreOffice, so others can follow the same recipe without much difficulty, and mmlong818/ElyOffice has already made a Windows fork.

### 6. Visibility and copycats

- Visibility: it's being talked about in small circles. techaeris, ubunlog, a batch of Chinese aggregator sites, and @RoundtableSpace have written about it, but it hasn't reached the HN front page, hasn't had a hot Reddit post, and isn't in GitHub's official overall charts. No revenue (free under MIT).

- Copycats: mmlong818/ElyOffice (a Windows fork, 27 stars); 83 forks; the contemporaneous same-stack ibis-office and Weave-Office look more like parallel launches than copying. The whole "AI rewrites Office" niche is already crowded.

### VII. What to take away

- "Mature engine + new shell" gets a usable product out faster than "rewrite from scratch": borrow LibreOffice / MuPDF's compatibility and only build the interaction and packaging yourself.

- Build a component library and personal brand in small circles first, then launch a "flagship app" to harvest attention; the site and tweets openly ask for stars and follows.

- An AI-agent pipeline lets one person keep a "new version every day" rhythm and produce documents that look serious, like per-version compatibility checklists. That itself is a trust signal.

- Write a one-line pitch around developer sentiments like "anti-subscription, anti-cloud, anti-Electron."

### VIII. Unknowns

- Official-site 76k downloads basis; GitHub installer downloads are about 18.7k (including upgrades). The real number of active users is unknown.

- The stargazer list is unavailable, so whether the 10-20 single-day +303 stars involved star-botting can't be sampled and ruled out (the decay shapes of the two curves look normal).

- Unclear: why 10-19 moved to the new org (AGPL to MIT, branding, or a plan for a commercial version), and whether the author will use it for a company or commercial product (ElyAgent, Kigi CLI).

- Retention: only 11 issues, so community participation is shallow.
