The runner-up, 19 hours later: a repo that "repackages" free Japanese assets, reached 1278 stars in 9 days
What it is A pure static website that combines three sets of reference images that a Japanese creator released for free (AI poses, outfits, and portraits) into one site, in Chinese, English, and Japanese, with a bulk download of the original images.
Why it took off The original creator's free assets blew up on X, and everyone was looking for a Chinese version. It went live within 22 hours. Each time the original creator released a new library, it followed up within a day, and it was the first to merge all three libraries together.
CHow you can follow Don't chase this batch. Copy the approach: watch for free resources that suddenly blow up on Japanese and Korean X, and within 12 hours ship a multilingual aggregator site or tool plugin. First confirm the license, and build an index that links back to the original site instead of copying the original images.

A Japanese creator of AI beauty images released three reference libraries for free on X, and Chinese developers rushed to make "Chinese versions" overnight. RuiC-PoseAtlas wasn't the first, and the assets aren't its own, but by bundling three libraries in three languages with originals you can take as a full package, it placed second among dozens of identical repos. What it can teach you is a way to earn stars, not a spot you can still squeeze into.
A Japanese tweet, and a repo created on a Wednesday afternoon
Around Oct 26, a Japanese X account called ギア (@giaaibusi) posted: "AI美女「ポージング」データベース無料公開!1,439枚、無料、商用OK" (AI beauty pose database released free! 1439 images, free, commercial use OK). Later it turned out this was the alt account of AI beauty creator あぎ (@agi_aibusi).
The images show 288 poses, each in five views (front, three-quarter, side, top-down, and bottom-up), gray faceless mannequins, used as skeleton references for AI image generation or drawing. The post spread fast in Chinese and Japanese AI image circles, with comments in Chinese, Korean, and English. Agi later said "I don't know why it got such a big reaction overseas." In October, Chinese AI account Mu Feng (@mr_mofun) relayed it in Chinese: "Free for commercial use! 1439 AI portrait pose reference library is here" (27).
That same night, a little after 8 p.m. (Beijing time), the first Chinese version, anhao/ai-pose-gallery-zh, was created on GitHub. The next afternoon at 3 o'clock, HRuiCcc created RuiC-PoseAtlas, mirroring all 1439 original and thumbnail images into the repo within 7 minutes. GitHub Pages went live 20 minutes later.
Around Oct 30, あぎ posted on X: "The database I released on a small account blew up, and then someone made a Chinese and Korean version without permission and is publishing it as an open-source project. Lol w"
What it actually is
A pure static website: HTML + CSS + vanilla JS, no framework, no dependencies, three pages:
| Gallery | Item | Launched (Beijing time) |
|---|---|---|
| Pose gallery | 288 poses × 5 angles = 1439 mannequin line drawings | 10-28 |
| Outfit gallery | 1407 full outfits without a body, 8 categories (four seasons, lingerie, party, swimwear, sexy), 86 tags in Chinese, English, and Japanese | 10-30 a.m. |
| Portrait gallery | 1499 fictional AI portraits (faces 893, styling 606) | 10-30 a.m. |
All three sets come from the original creator's three Japanese sites. The README is candid: "This project only handles data organization, filling in English names, trilingual tag alignment, and frontend rewrite." What it added itself: language switching and search in Chinese, English, and Japanese, arrow keys to switch angles, shareable links to a specific angle, and a validation script that automatically checks images and translations before submission. And it packaged the original images right into the repo: the repo is 817 MB, so one clone gets you the full pose and outfit originals. The portrait originals at 4.5 GB don't fit, so they link directly to the original site. At the top of the README are three full-pack Quark Drive downloads (poses 659 MB, outfits 1.38 GB, faces 4.86 GB), with a WeChat tip code and WeChat ID further down.
README 开头有一行「面向成年创作者,部分内容不适合未成年人」。这不是客套:台湾媒体动區動趨 11-01 的报道说,原作者的库主要做给 AI 美女和成人内容市场,姿势库约三分之二偏成人向。

(GitHub daily stars / forks)
The biggest jump was +292 in a single day on 10-31, right after the outfit and portrait libraries launched. It still gains about +70 a day now, slowly tapering off. The fork-to-star ratio is 24%, far above typical projects. Many people came to take the assets.
Where people came from, by share:
- Spillover from the original creator's viral post (confirmed). This is the main driver. Chinese users who saw the Japanese post first went looking for a "Chinese version", and each time the original creator released a new library, this project followed within a day, and each wave brought another wave of stars.
- Following GitHub breadcrumbs (inferred). The repo was only 9 days old and couldn't get onto GitHub Trending, so people likely searched "pose gallery" or "姿势库", or found it after seeing the anhao version. A dozen forks were deployed directly as their own mirror sites, and someone built a ComfyUI node on top of it.
- Auto-aggregator sites and tutorial accounts (confirmed). hotrepo.ai, gitstars.io, the Telegram channel Code Stars, YouTube Shorts @LookOnThisGit, and several Chinese tutorial sites wrote about it within 10-29 days. These sites specialize in fast-rising repos, so being listed brings traffic back in turn.
- Media (confirmed, but late). Product manager site 人人都是产品经理 ran a feature piece 11-03, "Pick the pose, pick the outfit, set the face", largely built around the README line "Pose sets the skeleton, costume sets the look, portrait sets the face." By then the peak had already passed.
The author HRuiCcc's account was registered in August. Their two earlier projects each had a few hundred stars, and it has 74 followers. This surge barely relied on old fans. I found no sign of paid ads, a Hacker News post, or a big-name shoutout.
Who's competing: dozens of repos, same source material
| Name | Launched | Scale (11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original sites (ギア / あぎ) | Around 10-26 | Blew up on X | Japanese originals; terms ban bulk downloads, redistribution, and reposting |
| anhao/ai-pose-gallery-zh | 10-27 | 6213 star / 1580 fork | About 19 hours earlier, with its own domain. Picked up by a pile of Chinese nav sites and tutorial sites. It started with only the Chinese pose library and later added all three. |
| sleepy-zone/ai-ref-library-cn | 10-29 | 726 star | Chinese three-library version, one day later |
| wangweihong/comfyui-pose-gallery | 10-28 | 288 star | Built as a ComfyUI node |
| Deeyu/ai-costume-gallery-zh | 10-29 | 133 star | More complete, with animated outfits and depth maps |
| mugicha-AI/ComfyUI-PoseAtlas | 10-29 | 88 star | A ComfyUI node built directly on RuiC |
| English version, Polish version, Next.js rewrite, Agent Skill version... | 10-27 ~ 10-30 | a few to a few dozen stars each | Same material, different language, framework, or packaging |
The top one has 4.6 times its stars. The gap isn't features, it's those 19 hours. The earliest version got cited by nav sites and tutorial sites, so later searchers found it first. RuiC's three-in-one library, three languages, and full-package download put it second among the followers, but the traffic came from the material itself going viral, not these differences.
Why it broke out
- Timing. A single material-release event. Went live within 22 hours. Each time the original author added a new library, it was matched within a day.
- Merged scattered stuff into one workflow. Three Japanese sites each handled one piece. This one combined them into a single site, and added a catchy line, "Pose sets the skeleton, costume sets the look, portrait sets the face", that media and tutorial accounts could lift directly.
- Did what the original site wouldn't allow. The original banned bulk downloads and redistribution. This one put the original images into the repo and into cloud storage. That's the selling point, and also the biggest risk. The original author is only smiling about it for now. If they ask for takedown someday, the repo is gone.
- Looks like a legit open-source project. Three languages, zero dependencies, validation scripts, a tidy README. Easy to get indexed and shared.
- The demand is real. AI beauty and character image generation is already a big market, and this material is exactly what those people use every day.
If it were you
C: This wave is over, but the playbook is worth learning. There are already dozens of Chinese versions of the same material. The top one, with 6000 more stars, has locked the search entry point. The window is measured in days and has long closed. Building another one won't get more than a few stars, and it carries copyright risk on top. What's actually worth taking is the playbook: free resource that just went viral overseas → launch a multilingual aggregator site within 24 hours → follow every update the original author makes.
Who it suits: a solo builder who moves fast, already hangs out in the Japanese/Korean X circles for AI image generation, design assets, and indie games, and can take a static site from zero to live within a day. Wants stars, followers, and a project that looks good on a resume.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants to build an open-source project that can be maintained long-term and grow slowly (these repos follow a spike-then-fade curve); anyone sensitive to copyright or who doesn't want to be called out by the original author; anyone who wants to chase these pose libraries right now.
How to do it:
- Watch the source, not GitHub. Whenever material, templates, or datasets marked "無料公開" or "商用OK" appear on Japanese or Korean X, immediately ask: is there a large group of users who don't read Japanese or Korean but would want to use this?
- Being first matters more than doing it well. RuiC was 19 hours behind anhao, more complete, and still only had a fifth of its stars. The target is to go live within 12 hours.
- Check licensing first. Where the original explicitly bans redistribution, build it as an "index + translation + link back to the original", and don't move the original images into the repo. It's worth asking the original author first. Getting permission is something no one else can take from you.
- Build the layer the original author didn't: multiple languages, merging several libraries, plugging into tools (ComfyUI nodes, Agent Skill, outfit-swap workflows). Some of the same-material projects already have a ComfyUI node, an Agent Skill, and a site with one-click outfit swapping. This layer is harder to drown out than plain translation.
How to get stars: on launch day, reply with the link under the original post and under the Chinese repost. Make the first screen of the README clearly explain what it is and how to use it, with one line people can quote. Once stars climb fast enough, sites like hotrepo and gitstars pick it up naturally, and tutorial accounts follow.
Deadline: each opportunity like this only has 24 to 48 hours after the original post goes out. This batch (the ギア / あぎ pose, costume, and portrait libraries) has already passed. The same author is already releasing new libraries like the depth-map version POSE-DB-02. Watching for this author's next release is the only point on this path you can still catch.
Signs you misread it: (1) The original author or platform demands takedowns and the Chinese mirror repos disappear en masse. That would mean copying the material is a dead end, and only "index + link back to the original" survives. (2) Two weeks later, RuiC or anhao is still gaining hundreds of stars a day. That would mean this isn't a one-off event but lasting demand for reference images, and it would be worth building a version with your own material and your own update schedule. (3) Someone builds an original library of the same kind (self-generated, self-licensed) and gets over a thousand stars in a week. That would mean readers want the material itself, and whoever has the clean source wins.

Bottom line
It isn't an original product. It's repackaged copying: Japanese AI beauty creator ギア (@giaaibusi, with @agi_aibusi as a secondary account) released the free pose library POSE-DB-01 on X around 10-26, then released an outfit library and a portrait library, which blew up in Chinese and Japanese AI image-generation circles. Chinese developers rushed to build "Chinese versions / mirror versions." RuiC came about 19 hours after the first one, anhao/ai-pose-gallery-zh (anhao now has 6213★, 4.6 times RuiC's). By being the first to merge all three libraries into one site, offering Chinese, English, and Japanese, mirroring the original images into the repo, and offering a full-package download on cloud storage, it took second place in this wave. The product has no real moat. It caught a material-release event, and it made the bulk downloads and redistribution that the original author explicitly banned into a selling point.
1. What it is
- Pure static site (HTML + CSS + ES Modules, zero dependencies), deployed on GitHub Pages: pose gallery (288 groups × 5 views = 1439 gray faceless mannequin line drawings), costume gallery (1407 outfits with no body, 8 categories, 86 trilingual tags), portrait gallery (1499 fictional AI portraits). Source: repo README.
- All images come from the original author's three sites: ai-pose-gallery.pages.dev, ai-costume-gallery.pages.dev, ai-portrait-gallery.pages.dev. The README's "Acknowledgements and Copyright" section states: "This project only does data organization, English name completion, trilingual tag alignment, and frontend rewrite."
- Repo size 817 MB (GitHub API
size). All pose PNG originals and costume WEBP originals are mirrored into the repo. Portrait originals at 4.5 GB don't fit, so they link directly to the original site. - The README opens with a notice: "For adult creators; some content is not suitable for minors." The costume set has three categories: underwear / swimwear / sexy. The pose set has a "sexy" series. A Blocktempo report says the original author "made this mainly for the AI beauty and adult content market, and about two-thirds of the pose library leans adult" (https://www.blocktempo.com/japanese-creator-free-ai-face-pose-costume-libraries-adult-market/).
- Monetization hooks: the top of the README offers a Quark cloud storage full-package download (pose 659 MB / costume 1.38 GB / face library 4.86 GB), followed by a WeChat tip QR code and WeChat ID hrc_rch ("explains the purpose").
2. Timeline (sources: GitHub commits API, our github library repo_day, X posts)

| daqunjia.com "POSE & CHARACTER Atlas", and "Open Pose & Costume" on V2EX (with one-click outfit swap) | Web | Late October to early November | Not verified | Goes one step further: chains into gpt-image / Nano Banana to composite characters directly, funneling traffic to paid image generation |
| klarkxy/ai-gallery, jasoncai0/pose-reference-skills | Open source (Agent Skill) | 10-29~10-30 | 3~4★ | Packaged as a skill that agents can call |
| Established paid tools: aipose.ai, PoseMyArt, Magic Poser, assorted pose books | Web / App | Already around | — | 3D adjustable mannequins, paid; RuiC's are fixed images, free |
Takeaway: lots of competitors, and they showed up on the same day. RuiC ranks second in this batch, 4.6× behind the first.
4. Growth tactics: where users come from
- Demand spillover from the original author's viral X post (confirmed): commenters on the original post included Chinese, Korean, and English users (香菇贡丸, yinni呀, TuningZhou, tau-home, and others), and あぎ said themselves "somehow it's getting huge response overseas." Chinese AI accounts (牧枫, etc.) translated it, and demand flowed straight to the "Chinese version."
- Discovery within GitHub: search and related-repo links (inferred): a new repo under 60 days old can't get onto trending (per our own repo experience), so stars mostly came from GitHub search, from people who found it right after anhao, and through fork chains (Brave turned up a dozen-plus forks and mirrors: muzi8990, kgdicfvtk, yuntongzhong, HTUltra, Shemshad, ok80...).
- Auto-aggregator sites and tutorial farms (confirmed): hotrepo.ai, gitstars.io, olio.my, signalcrest, the Telegram channel Code Stars, AI情报局 (two shenzjd.com posts), green-software download sites, aiezz.com (10-29 tutorials), a GPT88 blog (10-29), Ukrainian LearnAi (11-04), and YouTube Shorts @LookOnThisGit. These sites automatically pick up fast-rising repos and send traffic back.
- 媒体(已证实,不过是在峰值之后):人人都是产品经理 11-03 专文;动區動趨 11-01 那篇写的是原作者,没提 RuiC。
- Author's existing following (weak): the HRuiCcc account was registered 2026-08 ago; earlier projects include RuiC-card-skill (638★) and RuiC-oc-ferry (481★), with 74 followers. They have some name recognition in the DeepSeek "大肥鱼" / WorkBuddy Chinese dev circles, but this surge didn't rely mainly on that.
- Full-pack cloud drive + WeChat private community (existence confirmed, revenue unverified): 10-30 added three large Quark cloud-drive bundles (about 6.9 GB total). Quark drive has "share to invite / transfer" incentives, and whole-bundle large files are a common lead magnet; the tip QR code asks people to add a WeChat ID and "state their purpose," which funnels them into a private community. How money comes back: drive referral commissions + tips + private community, amounts completely unknown.
No evidence found of paid ads, Hacker News / Product Hunt launches, or KOL callouts for RuiC; no hits in the local x-radar corpus (this database may simply not cover this circle).
5. Why it took off (by importance)
- Timing (platform event): the original author released three free libraries back to back around 10-26, and they blew up on X; RuiC built its version within 22 hours and followed up within 1 days of the original author releasing the costume and portrait libraries. Each new batch of material brought another wave of stars (10-30 and 10-31 had the biggest jumps).
- Merging three libraries into one site: anhao started with poses only; within 10-30 RuiC had poses, costumes, and portraits together, and coined the line "pose sets the skeleton, costume sets the look, portrait sets the face." The Rénrén Dōu Shì Chǎnpǐn Jīnglǐ article more or less follows that framing.
- Doing what the original site forbids: the original site bans bulk downloading and redistribution, but RuiC mirrored the original images into the repo, so one clone gets you 800 MB, plus the Quark full pack. Forks and stars run as high as 24%, which suggests many people came for the chance to take the material. That is also its biggest risk.
- Trilingual with polished interaction: Chinese/English/Japanese search, five-view keyboard switching, deep links, verification checks. For GitHub users and tutorial creators, it looks like a legitimate open-source project, which makes it easy to write about and share.
- Gray-area demand as a base: the "sexy / lingerie / swimwear" categories and the AI beauty image market were already large (the 动区 report mentions this), so the demand is real, not just curiosity.
6. Differentiation
- Compared with anhao (first place): three libraries in one, trilingual, original images bundled, while anhao started with Chinese and poses only. But anhao was about 19 hours earlier, has its own domain, and is cited by many Chinese nav and tutorial sites, so its ranking stayed locked in. The differentiation put it second among the followers, but it isn't why it took off; the material itself being hot is.
- Compared with the original site: adds Chinese / English, combines everything in one site, and supports bulk download; the cost is violating the original site's terms (the original author has so far only laughed it off, but could demand takedown at any time).
- Compared with paid pose tools (Magic Poser etc.): you can't adjust mannequins, but it's free, multi-view is ready to use, and the output can feed directly into image editing models.
- Moat: almost none. The material isn't theirs, the front end can be written in a day, and there are already a dozen-plus forks / mirrors and secondary packages (ComfyUI nodes, Agent Skill, websites with outfit-swap features).
7. How visible it is
What's being said in the small circle: the Chinese AI image generation / GitHub reposting crowd knows about it; there's one Rénrén Dōu Shì Chǎnpǐn Jīnglǐ feature plus a pile of auto-aggregator sites; no KOL has singled it out, and it hasn't hit Hacker News or Product Hunt. The bigger names are the original author and the anhao version. No public revenue.
8. What to borrow
- "Overseas viral free resource → immediately localize / multilingualize + bundle" is a repeatable GitHub star pattern: watch for free material drops on Japanese / Korean X, ship an integrated site within 24 hours, and follow up every time the original author releases something new.
- Use GitHub Pages and mirrored originals as a "free front door," then monetize with big cloud-drive bundles and a WeChat private community.
- Packaging scattered libraries into one workflow (skeleton / look / face) is an easier message to spread than any single library.
- But watch the copyright: the original site explicitly bans redistribution, so this model could be taken down or hit with a DMCA at any time.
9. Uncertain
- Quark drive referral income, tip amounts, and the size of the WeChat private community: completely unknown.
- Whether the original author will demand takedown (so far we've only seen one teasing line from あぎ).
- Whether all stars are real: the stargazers breakdown wasn't retrieved this time (the API returned 404); the high fork ratio and smoothly decaying curve look like organic traffic, but this is unverified.
- The original X post's impressions and reposts weren't captured; x-radar doesn't index this circle.
