# A 51-day, 4,600-star Claude skill pack: the stars didn't come from developers, they came from people scrolling short videos

**What it is** 11 Claude skills for running a YouTube channel (write scripts, score hooks, check titles and thumbnails, read retention, cut Shorts, find viral videos). It drafts only and doesn't publish. Free and open source.

**Why it took off** The author is an Instagram AI creator with 138k followers. His bio is written like a voiceover line, and the install is one sentence. So dozens of TikTok and Instagram AI tool accounts passed it around as free lead-gen content, with the top post at about 290k views, and stars kept climbing for a month.

**B** **How you can follow** Pick a topic the mass market wants and nobody has covered yet (or build a native Spanish, Portuguese, or Hindi version), make a zero-barrier skill pack in the same format, post your own video launch, and send the link to the AI tool accounts that cover Claude topics.

Grade B: the playbook is clear and copyable, and it has only spread in a small AI short-video circle. But whether a repost account picks you up is a gamble, the big topics are already taken by the author and copycats, and this kind of star doesn't bring real users or developer reputation. Circulating in a small circle

### A "Claude just killed YouTube" video

In 2026 Oct 10, TikTok user @joshfpocock posted a video that opened with: "Claude just murdered YouTube." The caption went on: "There's a free pack, 11 Claude skills, covering everything it takes to run a channel. They write scripts using 21 proven hook formulas and score the hook…" The video reached about 203k views by 11-06 (TikHub).

That day the repo had roughly 894 stars (per a third-party tutorial's record 10-10), and had been gaining a hundred or so a day. Over the next month, the same caption got read out in different languages by different accounts:

| Date | Account | Language | Views (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-10 | @joshfpocock | EN | 203k |
| 10-19 | @johann_andre "claude just killed half my youtube busywork" | EN | 78k |
| 10-22 | @alitechify0.1 "Claude AI Se Poora YouTube Channel Automate Karo!" | Hindi | 290k |
| 10-22 | @antonspain.ia | Spanish | 86k |
| 10-25 | @buildwithai.club "Someone just built an entire YouTube team inside Claude" | EN | 122k |
| 10-27 | @benkimball.ai "TOP 5 Claude skills every YouTube creator needs" | EN | 35k |

Source: TikTok search, view counts as of 11-06. There were also Portuguese and French accounts, plus a batch of Instagram Reels in the same format.

The star curve matches this table: 10-19 was 1,659 stars, 10-20 gained +193 on a single day, then +120 a day, up to +240,10-28 on a single day, +330 was the peak, 11-06 to 4,674 (GitHub daily star counts). It wasn't a spike from one trending-page placement. It was a long tail fed by repost after repost, lasting a month. It never made GitHub Trending, and on X and Hacker News in the past 90 days almost nobody mentioned it.

### What it actually is

A YouTube workflow that only drafts and never publishes, installed into Claude. Its 11 commands each handle one job: `/yt-script` writes a script from 21 hook formulas and scores the opening, `/yt-package` checks the title and thumbnail text as a pair, `/yt-retention` reads the audience retention CSV you export and tells you where viewers drop off, `/yt-shorts` finds clips in long videos that can be cut into Shorts, and `/yt-viral` finds outlier videos in a niche, defined as "several times the channel's own median." There are also 6 zero-dependency Python scripts, and the repo is only 32KB.

Two design choices are worth noting. First, the install barrier is zero: the README's first method is "paste this link to Claude and say install it." No API key, no login, no account linking, so people who can't write code will still try it. Second, the README is honest about its limits: "hookscore.py is a heuristic, not a predictor," "Tags barely matter, and this pack says so, it won't sell you a tag generator," "it won't publish for you." That makes it easy for a repost creator to recommend, and gives the tutorial writers something to say.

But the features themselves aren't new. AgriciDaniel/claude-youtube shipped nearly the same audit, SEO, retention, and thumbnail features half a year earlier, and has only 676 stars. The difference isn't the code. It's whether anyone with a short-video audience pushed it.

### The person behind it: a repo factory

The author, Jake Schincariol, is the AI creator @opusjake on Instagram, with about 138k followers. His bio reads "I build Skills & Agents to 10x your life," and his LinkedIn headline is "Distribution is your Moat." His site opusjake.ai sells custom AI agent builds, "Custom builds start at $10 to 15k," and uses "5,000+ GitHub stars" as social proof on the homepage. He also runs a paid Skool community with 266 members.

The YouTube pack is just one piece of his pipeline. Over two months he shipped more than a dozen repos in the same format, almost all pushed in one go on creation day, with descriptions starting "Eleven Claude skills that……":

| Repo | Repo created | star(11-06) |
|---|---|---|
| replica-skill (clone any app) | 10-03 | 7,853 |
| day-trader-skill | 10-20 | 5,701 |
| instagram-agent-skill | 09-13 | 5,075 |
| youtube-agent-skill | 09-16 | 4,768 |
| linkedin-agent-skill | 09-07 | 3,261 |
| founder-skill | 10-07 | 2,553 |
| x-agent-skill | 09-29 | 74 |
| hunter-skill (job search) | 10-15 | 80 |

Source: GitHub repo pages, 11-06.

More than half passed a thousand stars, and the rest (X, job search, sales) didn't take off. Same person, same template, same follower base, and the difference is the topic. "AI helps you do YouTube / trade stocks / clone an app" is a topic people stop to watch, and short-video accounts are willing to use it as a content idea. "AI helps you post tweets / find a job" isn't. His own Reels use the same format; the one from Sep 23 says "Comment 'YouTube' and I'll send you the full set up."

### Why dozens of accounts were willing to repost for him

Because it's lead-gen material anyone can take for free. The business model for AI tool accounts is "keyword comment → auto DM with a link," used to build followers and DM lists, so they need a steady supply of "free good stuff." This pack hit every requirement: free, MIT licensed so no copyright worries, explainable in one sentence, and something viewers can actually install after clicking. Most importantly, the bio is already a voiceover line: "Eleven Claude skills that run a YouTube channel… Free, MIT, no signup, no API key." Reposters read it almost word for word, and the captions in the videos above are the evidence.

The timing also worked. In autumn 2026, "Claude skill" was a hot term in the AI short-video scene, and YouTube creators are one of the biggest audiences for these accounts. I found no evidence that the author paid the reposters (unverified).

### How much these stars are worth

The fork-to-star ratio is about 30%, compared with roughly 11% for a typical new repo. Looking at the most recent forks, some accounts were registered the same day and have only this one repo, which looks like non-coders registering temporarily to "fork first" as the video instructed. This doesn't look like star farming, since star farmers rarely fork, but it does suggest these stars come mainly from short-video exposure, not developers actually using the tool. There's no way to see how many people really use it after installing. The repo has had zero commits in 51 days, and 88 issues have gone unanswered.

So for anyone wanting to learn from this, two things need to be kept apart: the playbook really does earn stars, and it earns them fast. But those stars don't bring contributors or developer-community reputation. What the author actually collects is Instagram followers, DM lists, and custom build orders.

### Who's already following it

The format is already being copied. mehulkundu/social-skills merged his Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube packs into "50 social media skills"; avi691/linkedin-agent-skill has a word-for-word identical description and 163 stars; postzen-dev/instagram-agent-skill, which reads "Fourteen Claude skills that run an Instagram account," added a publishing feature on top of his and has 42 stars. The author is copying himself too: he shipped a ChatGPT version that has only 207 stars. "N Claude skills to handle X" is turning into a template, and building another one on the same topic will most likely land you in the range of these numbers.

### If it were you

**B**

Worth trying, but be clear that you're making a short-video topic, not a developer tool. The opportunity is that the "repo as content" playbook still lives mostly in the AI Reels circle, and X, HN, and tech media haven't noticed it. The weakness is that the topic has to be picked up by a repost account by luck, and the big topics (YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn) are already claimed by him and copycats.

**Who it fits** : developers who have a short-video following or know a batch of AI tool accounts, and anyone who wants stars as a credential or as backing for a consulting business. Better odds if your native language has many repost accounts and few local repos, such as Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, or Indonesian.

**Who it doesn't fit** : anyone who wants real users, contributors, or developer-community reputation (these stars won't bring them); anyone who only plans another "YouTube / Instagram skill pack" (that space is already crowded); anyone without any distribution who expects organic GitHub traffic (the same-feature claude-youtube has only 676 stars).

**How to do it** : pick a topic people instantly want that he hasn't done (TikTok, podcasts, Xiaohongshu, Etsy shops, real estate agents, fitness coaches, or other one-person businesses). Build 8 to 12 skills, each with one command for one job, and add a few zero-dependency scripts so it's more than a prompt. Write the install as a one-sentence "paste this link to Claude," with no key and no login. Make the first line of the description a voiceover line that can be read aloud, and spell out the limits in the README. You can also localize: build the same topic as a native Spanish, Portuguese, or Hindi version, not a machine translation.

**How to get users** : launch with your own vertical video saying "comment the keyword to get the link," then send the repo link and a ready-made caption directly to AI tool accounts that cover "Claude skills" topics, so they can use it as lead-gen content. Ship three to five topics in the same template at once, see which one gets reposted, then go deeper on that one.

**Deadline** : the heat of "Claude skill" in the short-video scene is the window. I'd estimate one or two quarters left (inference). Once the "N skills" format wears out with repost accounts, the same playbook will bring in far less.

**Signs you're misreading it** : ① his newer packages from November (closer, seed, whale) haven't passed a thousand stars in a month, which suggests repost accounts are tired of the format; ② new TikTok videos about "Claude skills" have clearly declined in views over several weeks; ③ conversely, if someone builds a non-English, non-YouTube pack in the same format and passes a thousand stars within a month, then the switch-language, switch-topic route is real.

## Jakeschincariol/youtube-agent-skill: why it took off

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: our GitHub database (repo_profile / repo_day), live GitHub API, TikHub (TikTok search), Jina/Exa web search, x-radar.

### Bottom line

It's a "content asset": AI creator Jake Schincariol (@opusjake, ~138k Instagram followers) mass-produces repos like "11 free Claude skills that handle X," launches them with his own Reels, and then dozens of AI-tool Reels/TikTok accounts keep reposting them as "comment YOUTUBE and I'll DM you the link" hooks (the top post hit about 290k views, in English, Hindi, Portuguese, French and Spanish). The stars came from short-video viewers clicking through, not from developer communities pushing it. The product itself is solid, but it took off mainly through distribution, and its edge is that it's easy to turn into a short video.

### 1. Data

- Repo created 2026-09-16, pushed in one batch that same day, and **never committed again** since (pushed_at 2026-09-16). Repo size 32KB: 11 SKILL.md files, 6 zero-dependency Python scripts, and a voice.md template.

- Star curve (github repo_day): 10-09 758 → 10-19 1,659 → 10-28 3,396 (single-day +330, the observation-period peak) → 11-06 4,674 (live GitHub API: 4,768 stars / 1,442 forks). From 10-20 on it has averaged +120~240 a day. **It's not a single spike, it's a month-long tail** , which matches the rhythm of short videos reposting it one after another.

- Fork/star ratio about 30%, far above the ~11% median for new repos. Checking the latest forkers: Baki017 registered the same day with only 1 repos; yabouaroua-star August registered with 1 repos… This looks like **non-developers creating accounts just to "install" and forking** , matching the user profile that short-video tutorials ("fork / clone first") would bring. It doesn't look like star-botting (botting usually produces few forks). The suspect list for the repo is empty.

- The stargazers endpoint returned 404 for this repo, so star accounts couldn't be sampled. Recorded as unverified.

### 2. The author and his "repo factory"

GitHub user Jakeschincariol has 25 public repos, mostly in the same format, "Eleven/11 Claude skills that …", almost all pushed in full on the day they were created (GitHub API):

| Library | Repo created | star(11-06) |
|---|---|---|
| replica-skill (clone any app) | 10-03 | 7,853 |
| day-trader-skill | 10-20 | 5,701 |
| instagram-agent-skill | 09-13 | 5,075 |
| **youtube-agent-skill** | 09-16 | 4,768 |
| linkedin-agent-skill | 09-07 | 3,261 |
| founder-skill | 10-07 | 2,553 |
| trader-skill | 10-14 | 1,412 |
| arena-skill | 09-27 | 1,285 |
| chatgpt-youtube-agent-skill | 09-22 | 207 |
| x-agent-skill | 09-29 | 74 |
| hunter-skill (job search) | 10-15 | 80 |
| closer / seed / whale | 11-01~11-06 | 6~41 |

More than half became repos with thousands of stars; the rest (X, job hunting, sales) never took off. **Whether one takes off depends on whether short-video accounts are willing to use it as a topic** . Topics like "AI runs your YouTube / Instagram / stock trading / app cloning" that appeal to the general public take off; X or job hunting don't.

Author identity (web search): Instagram @opusjake, ~138k followers, bio "I build Skills & Agents to 10x your life"; TikTok @.jake.ai ~40k followers (inferred to be him from name and content, unverified); the site opusjake.ai sells custom AI agent builds ("Custom builds start at $10 to 15k") and a free resource library (43 resources), and its homepage cites "5,000+ GitHub stars" as social proof; Skool community Opus Lab has 266 members. His LinkedIn headline reads "Distribution is your Moat." In July he posted a "Viral Content Engine" claiming 5M views and 20k followers in under a month (opusjake.ai/r/viral-content-engine).

**Where the money comes back** : the repos are free and MIT-licensed. His returns are Instagram followers, a DM lead list, the Skool community, and ~$1–15k custom projects. The accounts that repost it gain followers and a DM list built on "comment keyword → automated DM link" (the ManyChat playbook).

### 3. Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **Author's own Instagram Reels launch** : the picmany archive shows @opusjake posting on 2026-09-23 "Comment "YouTube" and I'll send you the full set up to turn ChatGPT into your channel manager" (the ChatGPT version). Later arena (09-27) and founder (10-20) followed the same "comment keyword" format. Confirmed.

2. **Third-party AI tool accounts repost in bulk (the main driver)** . Searching "youtube agent skill claude" on TikHub turns up a large batch:
    - @joshfpocock 2026-10-10 "Claude just murdered YouTube…" **~203k views** : that day the curve started at +100 a day (aboveyellow recorded 10-10 stars at 894)
    - @johann_andre 10-19 ~78k views; daily gains rose to about 190 starting 10-20
    - @alitechify0.1 10-22 (Hindi) **~290k views**
    - @buildwithai.club 10-25 ~122k views
    - @benkimball.ai 10-28 "TOP 5 Claude skills every YouTube creator needs" ~35k views; @amann.dev 10-29 (Portuguese) ~11k views; 10-28 marks the observation-period single-day peak of +330
    - Also @build.with.alan, @boss_automations, @zerocode.ia (Spanish), @jonathanhatchi (French), @pelevinmedia, @sarthak.ai, @nessalazne and others, nearly all in the "Comment "YOUTUBE" and I'll DM you" format
    - On Instagram: @petergriffin.ai, @classified.ai (Nitin Chougale, 10-08), @himanshugupta.io, @liamjohnston.ai and others use the same format; @tenex_labs reposted his LinkedIn package
    - The large account @jackroberts____ (~90k followers, claims 280k YouTube subscribers) posted the ChatGPT version (10-01, ~66k views); the arena post got ~428k views, and LinkedIn reposted it too. Confirmed.

3. **SEO / long-tail aggregator sites** : aboveyellow.com, kevinsingh.com and aruntastic.com wrote tutorials; skillleaderboard, trendshift, agentlist, opuskill, skillsllm and funcoding list it; a YouTube video (wXV5Ah6OVI0) links to it in its description; Facebook groups are reposting it too. These amplified the long tail but didn't cause the initial surge.

4. **Reddit** : sporadic posts on r/ClaudeAI and r/AI_Agents, low volume.

5. **Not seen** : x-radar searches for Jakeschincariol / youtube-agent-skill / opusjake over the last 90 days all came up 0; HN Algolia 0 results; not on GitHub trending (a repo under 60 days old can't make it anyway). In short, **the developer crowd (X/HN) barely participated** .

6. Paid promotion: no evidence found that the author paid the reposters. These accounts spontaneously use popular free resources as hook material, which is standard practice in the AI Reels scene. Unverified.

### 4. Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AgriciDaniel/claude-youtube | Open source | 2026-03 | 676 stars | Heavily overlapping features (audit, SEO, retention scripts, thumbnails), launched half a year earlier, but no short-video account pushed it |
| darkzOGx/youtube-automation-agent | Open source | 2025-08 | 5,014 stars | Fully automated video output (script + voiceover + visuals), needs self-deployment; it's a lightweight "write-only" skill pack |
| nateherkai/herk-edit-kit | Open source | 2026-04 | 2,580 stars | An editing skill pack from Nate Herk (AI YouTuber), also relying on its author's own audience, leaning toward editing |
| ScrapeCreators/social-media-research-skills | Open source | 2026-06 | 5,770 stars | Social media viral research that requires the ScrapeCreators API (paid); it needs no key |
| Transcription-focused ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills and similar | Open source | 2026-02 | 1,170 stars | Only fetches captions/search, doesn't cover the creation workflow |
| The "Youtube Strategy" skill on claudecowork.im | A web skill directory | Not verified | Not verified | A single skill, same category |
| vidIQ / TubeBuddy | Web + Chrome | 2010 era | Each claims tens of millions of creators (unverified) | Subscription SaaS that connects to channel data; this one is free but doesn't connect to data |
| 1 of 10 outlier tools | Web | Around 2023 | Not verified | A paid "find viral videos by each channel's own median" tool, the same idea as /yt-viral |
| YouTube Studio has built-in Inspiration / Ask Studio (Gemini) | Big-company features | 2024–2025 | All creators | Official data; this runs inside the user's own Claude |

What it does isn't new; similar open-source repos existed long before, and commercial tools are more mature.

### 5. Why it took off

1. **The author brings his own distribution** : an Instagram account with 138k followers, templated "comment keyword" Reels, plus an assembly line churning out repos in bulk (over 15 repos of the same kind in two months).

2. **The title was written for short videos** : the bio is already a voiceover line, "Eleven Claude skills that run a YouTube channel… Free, MIT, no signup, no API key," and "Claude runs your YouTube for free" has strong click appeal for the general public. Reposters essentially read the bio aloud.

3. **It became a shared lead magnet in the AI Reels scene** : free + MIT + "paste it to Claude and it installs" means anyone can use it as a "comment to get it" hook, without paying or worrying about copyright. Dozens of accounts in several languages rotated it, which is why the star curve has a month-long tail.

4. **Timing** : in 2026 Claude Skills and the plugin marketplace (/plugin marketplace) were hot, and "Claude skill" was a popular topic in AI short-video circles. YouTube creators are the biggest audience among AI tool accounts.

5. **Substantial content** : 11 skills + 6 zero-dependency Python scripts (hook scoring, joint title and thumbnail checks, retention CSV parsing, finding viral videos against each channel's own multiple), and the README candidly notes its limits ("hookscore is heuristic", "Tags barely matter", "does not auto-publish"). This makes it safe for reposters to push and gives tutorial creators something to talk about. But it isn't why it took off.

### 6. Differentiation

- Compared with similar open-source libraries, the features aren't that different (claude-youtube had the same thing half a year earlier). What's actually different: (a) the packaging — you can explain what each of the 11 commands does in one sentence, which makes it naturally suited to short videos; (b) zero friction — no API key, no login, no publishing; paste one paragraph into Claude and it installs, so non-developers dare to try it; (c) a Python helper tool backing up the "not just a prompt" claim; (d) the author is their own distribution channel.

- Of these, only (b), (d), and "easy to explain" directly drove the growth. Put plainly, the differentiator is how easy it is to distribute, not the features.

### 7. Copycats

- mehulkundu/social-skills: merged and expanded Jake's instagram, linkedin, and youtube packs into "50 social media skills", with the source clearly credited on the page.

- avi691/linkedin-agent-skill (163 stars) has a description identical, word for word, to Jake's LinkedIn pack; postzen-dev/instagram-agent-skill (42 stars), "Fourteen Claude skills that run an Instagram account", builds on his and adds publishing.

- Jake is also copying himself: chatgpt-youtube-agent-skill (the ChatGPT version).

- "11 Claude skills to handle X" has become a format of its own (Ootto-AI/claude-content-skills, rediumvex's "10 Claude skills…", and others).

### 8. Visibility

It's circulating in small circles: AI-tool accounts on Instagram/TikTok have reposted it dozens of times (the top single post got about 290k views); but X, HN, and tech media haven't covered it, and there's no public revenue (it's free).

### 9. What others can learn

- "Repo as short-video topic": a mass-market pain point + "N free skills" + no key, install with one paragraph + a description written as a voiceover script. Best if you already have a short-video account; if not, package it as material other AI accounts want for traffic.

- Using a free open-source library to funnel traffic into your own community and consulting business (Skool, custom development); the library is just the customer acquisition cost.

- Ship in batches and see which topics get reshared: same template, different topics. X and job-search topics didn't take off; YouTube, Instagram, stock trading, and cloned-app topics did.

- For us, stars like these reflect short-video exposure, not developer usage. Using stars to judge whether a tool is actually used calls for a heavy discount.

### 10. Uncertain

- Real usage and retention: lots of forks and many of them from newly registered accounts, with no way to tell how many people actually use it after installing; the repo has no updates either.
