The "Vibe Knowledge Showcase" skill, three weeks late, how did it get 515 stars?
What it is A Claude Code skill: give it a knowledge point, and it verifies facts, writes sourced narration, voices it, then renders a knowledge short frame by frame with code. There are 44 styles to choose from.
Why it blew up An official Douyin campaign popularized AI knowledge videos. The author is a Chinese AI creator with 50k followers who teased, launched, and asked for stars on the same day. 11-03 then @GitHub_Daily reposted it, and it gained 157 stars in one day. Renoise was also looking for Chinese creators to promote it at the time, and it rode the wave.
CHow you could follow it Don't build another one in this category. Learn its playbook: launch within the first two weeks of the next platform hot trend with a project that "reproduces a viral piece in one command." Pick a difference that can be explained in one sentence (like credibility), tease before launch, ask for stars on the day, and find open-source recommendation accounts to repost it.
- Data (updated daily) · Repo created 2026-10-28 · 562 stars · 7 days +349

vibe-knowledge is a Claude Code skill: give it a knowledge point, and it verifies facts, writes narration, voices it, then renders a 1080p60 knowledge short frame by frame with code. The repo was created only in Oct 28, three weeks behind the largest of its peers. It reached 515 stars and 76 forks in 9 days (GitHub, 11-06). The stars came mostly from the author's existing X audience and one big-account repost. The "every line sourced" selling point helped it stand out among projects with similar names, but it wasn't the main reason it took off. Below: what it is, where the stars came from, who came before it, and whether it's still worth building one in this category.
A "step-by-step tutorial posting this afternoon" teaser
On Oct 28, 2026, X creator @Berryxia, a Chinese AI account with 53.5k followers, posted a teaser:
The #VibeKnowledgeShowcase that recently blew up in China: I broke the whole approach into a skill. Step-by-step tutorial posting this afternoon.
The same day he quote-tweeted another blogger's post about "reproducing a 36.5w-like Douyin vibe science video in one command" (6,866 views), then later posted the formal launch with the closing line "remember to Star it," which got 37.5k views. The repo was created that day and has not seen new code since.
It rode a real trend. After Claude Opus 5.5 launched in late September, using natural language to have AI write code for animated shorts became popular. In late September, a wave of AI-made knowledge-visualization videos appeared on Douyin, and October's Nobel season gave it another push. Douyin and Douyin Selects ran the #VibeKnowledgeShowcase campaign. A Tencent News / New Rank Media article (11-03) reported 130k participants and 3B cumulative views. The benchmark account "Electronic Homo Sapiens" had a video on information theory with 16M views and 1.4M likes. Many people wanted to grow accounts and take sponsorships, so "one-click reproduction of this kind of video" tools became one of the hottest open-source categories in Chinese AI circles on X in October.
What it actually does
The README's first line: "One knowledge point → one polished knowledge short with narration, where every line has a source." The whole flow runs in the conversation: topic selection, verification, scripting, voiceover, code-rendered video, QA, and a publishing package, with three pauses for your confirmation.
Compared with similar projects, what it adds is the credibility layer:
- Every line sourced. The verification stage first writes a fact list. Every number, name, year, and quote needs a source, and where views conflict, both are presented side by side.
- Narration. Most peers copy the format of the original Douyin clips: pure subtitles, no voiceover. It uses Xiaomi MiMo's "calm tech-blogger male voice" by default and mandates background music.
- QA. After narration is written, a sub-agent critiques it. After rendering, OCR reads the on-screen text back and checks it against the fact list, then checks loudness and frozen frames.
- Two tiers. Most of the 44 styles are generated purely in code, at "0 credits." The enhanced styles (Dunhuang, blue-and-white porcelain, woodcut) and realistic shots are handled by Renoise, which quotes the price before starting.
A comment piece that Sina News 11-04 reposted was titled "Turning knowledge videos into a pipeline, with an editorial mindset hidden inside 44 styles." It called it "not a simple effects pack, but a production system with an editorial mindset." Almost everyone who shared it quoted three phrases verbatim: every line sourced, 0 credits, and 44 styles.
The barrier is not low: it requires a Python environment, Playwright, ffmpeg, a MiMo key, and some QA checks need compiling on macOS. The repo has 0 issues to date. The 15% fork ratio doesn't mean that many people are actually using it (inference).
Where the stars came from
| Date | Stars | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 79 | Day one after the repo went up: the author's teaser and launch posts |
| 10-30 | 160 | Reposts from small and friendly accounts; several aggregator sites wrote tutorials |
| 11-03 | 248 | Afterward, only 15–20 stars a day |
| 11-04 | 405 | Single-day +157: the day before, @GitHub_Daily recommended it; 29.4k views, 655 bookmarks |
| 11-06 | 515 | +355 over the last 7 days |
(GitHub, daily snapshots)
The curve lines up with the posting times. The first two days came from the author's own account; the middle week was nearly flat; the biggest jump came from the @GitHub_Daily repost. Afterward @ganfanren_ai wrote "worth trying for anyone who wants to run a knowledge-short account and take sponsorships," and the Sina piece also appeared around then.
The author already works this way. His GitHub account has 12 repos totaling 5,933 stars, and the digital-human talking-head skill he released two days earlier (10-26) already has 1,805 stars. It followed the same sequence: X teaser → open source → ask for stars.
There's also a tailwind. Three places in the README link to Renoise with the tracking parameter utm_source=official, and there's a full section on signing up for and integrating Renoise. The author's previous digital-human skill was also "fully built with Renoise." Around the same time, several Chinese AI bloggers including @niki2ai, @ModengSir, and @Saccc_c were promoting Renoise's MCP, and one mentioned "joint with @berryxia." It looks like Renoise was running a round of promotion with Chinese creators, and this skill was one of the vehicles (inference; no paid-partnership disclosure was found).
Who came before
| Project | Repo created | Stars | How it differs from vibe-knowledge |
|---|---|---|---|
| lemomo-ai/lemo-opuscar | 09-26 | 12,613 (7 days +3,233) | 66 general-purpose film styles, not focused on knowledge shorts, no verification |
| alchaincyf/huashu-art-motion (Huashu) | 10-06 | 6,316 | 35 art styles + 9 narration grammars, leaning toward artistic animation |
| HeyChengC/vibe-knowledge-film | 10-06 | 1,067 | Reverse-engineers Douyin hit originals, no narration |
| howseen-ai/claude-motion-design | 09-27 | 774 | General HTML/CSS motion graphics |
| liangdabiao/whiteboard-teacher-video | 10-16 | 503 | A single hand-drawn whiteboard style |
| Azure12355/weilanx-claude-videos | 10-10 | 242 | Remotion project, hand-drawn/pixel |
| xiazhuo123456789/vibe-knowledge-video | 10-09 | 167 | Reverse-engineers 8 original clips, no voiceover |
| heygen-com/hyperframes | March | 79,455 | A general base for "write HTML to render video," not a finished pipeline |
It ranks fifth or sixth. There are three or four doing the same thing, with names containing "vibe-knowledge," and their repos were created in early October. The category was already crowded before it arrived. It got its stars because the author could bring people in, not because its product beat others. Its own acknowledgments list lemo-opuscar and Huashu's projects.
Others followed afterward: liangdabiao/stem-explainer-video (11-04 repo created, 24 stars), ChenShuo2004/cs-skills added a "Vibe Knowledge Showcase mode" with verification, and JuneYaooo/cheap-claude-video also released a vibe-knowledge template. None of them took off.
If it were you
C: Learn how it was launched, but don't build another one in this category. Open-source "AI-made knowledge short" skills have gone from 12.6k stars down to a few dozen, with more than a dozen in the ranks. The topic is a single Douyin campaign whose heat will fade. vibe-knowledge still reached 500 stars three weeks late, thanks to the 50k-follower account, the rhythm of launching two projects back to back, and possible platform promotion, none of which you may have. Someone entering now without an audience will most likely end up at around 24 stars.
Who it suits: developers who already have tens of thousands of followers, or who have a partnership with a video-generation platform; or people who can port this verify + narration + QA workflow to English and the TikTok / YouTube Shorts ecosystem. The Chinese side is saturated. We did not check one by one whether the English side has an equally mature knowledge-short pipeline (inference, unverified).
Who it doesn't suit: people with no distribution channel who plan to build yet another "more styles" knowledge-video skill and wait for stars; people who hope to build long-term reputation off the stars of this kind of skill. Projects driven by a trend stop when the topic fades.
How to do it: don't compete on the number of styles, since lemo-opuscar already has 66. Learn to find a differentiator that can be stated in one sentence. It chose "credibility" (sources, QA, human confirmation), which people sharing it were willing to repeat verbatim. Pick the next creative wave sparked by a platform's official campaign or a new model release, and within the first one or two weeks ship a "reproduce a viral piece in one command" tool. In the README, include sample videos you can click, a side-by-side comparison of the same content across different styles, and a free-versus-paid tier comparison, so people can understand it without installing anything.
How to get users: tease on X the day before launch, post the tutorial the day of and explicitly say "remember to Star it"; contact accounts like @GitHub_Daily that specialize in promoting open-source projects in advance, since its one repost brought roughly the total of the first five days' stars; if your project connects to a paid generation platform, negotiate joint promotion, because the platform has an incentive to put budget behind creators with audiences. With several projects in hand, launch about one every two days like the author did, so each one brings people back to your other pages.
When to get in before: the window for this category has essentially passed; the one to aim for is the next wave. At this pace, within two to three weeks after a hot trend appears, there will be more than ten similar projects.
What it looks like if you got it wrong: ① A Chinese knowledge-video skill with no big-account backing hits 1,000 stars by year-end. That means the category still has organic traffic and is easier to win than C-grade. ② vibe-knowledge stays at 100+ stars weekly growth in a week with no new retweets. That means the product itself is getting word-of-mouth, and its "trustworthy" angle is worth more than it looks. ③ Douyin's #Vibe知识大赏 is still launching events or adding traffic boosts in December. The heat hasn't faded, so there's more room for late entrants than estimated.

andyhuo520/vibe-knowledge: why it took off

Bottom line
1. Background: the category was a platform event
- After Claude Opus 22 launched in Sep 5.5, making animated short videos by driving code with natural language became a trend. Late September, AI-made knowledge-visualization videos started appearing on Douyin, and October's Nobel season amplified them (36 36Kr 2026-11-06, 36kr.com/p/4033742259672962; Tencent News / 新榜 2026-11-03, news.qq.com/rain/a/20261103A0BXAQ00).
- Douyin, together with Douyin Selects, launched the official #Vibe知识大赏 campaign: 130k participants and 3B cumulative views (Tencent News 11-03). 氪 wrote about the Douyin topic, 51k participants and 1.17B views 36; the same-name topic on Xiaohongshu got 660M views. The benchmark account "电子智人" had a "《信息论》" video with 16M plays and 1.4M likes; the Bilibili account "比特新语" gained 650k followers in half a month.
- This made "skills that replicate Vibe知识大赏" a hot open-source category in the Chinese X scene in October. People who want to start accounts or take brand deals have a clear need.

Author influence: X @berryxia with 53.5k followers (x.com/berryxia profile, 2026-11-06), and the previous pinned post (digital-human skill) got 358k views. Across 12 GitHub repos the account has 5933 stars total; digital-human-koubo, released two days earlier (10-26), already has 1805 stars. The same "X teaser → open source → star ask" play was run twice in a row.
Renoise's role: all three Renoise links in the README carry utm_medium=xcom&utm_source=official, and there's a full signup and integration tutorial section. The author's previous digital-human skill "used Renoise throughout." At the same time, several Chinese AI bloggers, including @niki2ai, @ModengSir, @Saccc_c and @byCanen, were promoting the Renoise MCP and mentioning "co-promoted with @berryxia" (https://x.com/ModengSir/status/2115768668487635008). It looks like Renoise ran a round of Chinese influencer promotion, with vibe-knowledge as one of the vehicles, but we found no explicit paid-partnership disclosure and have not verified it.
4. Why it took off
- Riding a platform event: Douyin's official campaign plus the 3B-view wave made "one-click replication of Vibe知识大赏" a ready-made demand, and the author's title used the hashtag directly.
- The author had an existing audience and cadence: a 53.5k-follower X account ran teaser → launch → star ask in a single day, reaching 79→160 stars on day one.
- Big-account amplification: one post from 11-03 @GitHub_Daily brought +157 in a single day, the biggest jump on the whole curve.
- Possible commercial push: Renoise's influencer network was loudly promoting it at the same time, and the README effectively works as a Renoise landing page.
- Easy-to-retell product points: "every line cited," "0 credits on the base tier," and "44 styles". Nearly every repost quoted these three numeric selling points verbatim.
5. Differentiation
- Most of these copy the original's no-narration, subtitles-only format (HeyChengC, xiazhuo, and LuZhong-Li all explicitly go without narration). vibe-knowledge goes with narration (Xiaomi MiMo voiceover) + a source for every line (facts.md) + an adversarial review by a sub-agent + three rounds of human sign-off + OCR/loudness/freeze QA + a publishing kit, which feels more like an editorial pipeline (a direct quote from a Sina commentary).
- Two production tiers: the code's 0-credit basic tier plus the Renoise enhanced tier, quote first, then generate.
- It has fewer styles (44) than lemo-opuscar (66), and its visuals borrow heavily from predecessors (the credits list lemo-opuscar, huashu-art-motion and others).
- Is that why it took off? Partly. Reposters mostly sell it on "sources + 0 credits", which gives it a one-line difference among many similarly named skills. But its absolute volume (515) is far below the general style libraries that arrived earlier. Its growth curve lines up with the author's posts and GitHub_Daily's repost, so the main driver looks like distribution, not product superiority.
6. How visible it is
It's circulating in small circles: on X's Chinese AI scene (the author, GitHub_Daily, and several Renoise partner bloggers), on aggregator sites, and in a Sina reprint. It hasn't made it into mainstream tech media coverage (the two pieces from 36 and New Rank cover the sector but don't name it). It's open source, so no revenue is involved.
7. Copycats
Similar skills existed in large numbers before it. Since then: liangdabiao/stem-explainer-video (11-04 built the repo, 24 stars), ChenShuo2004/cs-skills added a "Vibe Knowledge Showcase mode" (with source verification), and JuneYaooo/cheap-claude-video also made a vibe-knowledge template. I haven't seen any direct forks renamed and reposted.
8. Takeaways
- A trending topic (the platform's official campaign) plus a skill packaged as "clone a hit in one sentence" is an efficient shortcut to GitHub stars: tease it on X on launch day, publish, then ask for stars.
- In a commoditized category, find one credibility angle (sources, QA, manual review) as the selling point, so it's easy to repeat.
- Using an open-source skill as the landing page for a commercial platform (Renoise): the free tier brings people in, the enhanced tier converts them to paid credits. The platform can put its budget behind skill authors who already have an audience.
9. Uncertain
- Whether Renoise paid for sponsorship: only indirect hints, UTM tags and co-promotion.
- Real usage: the install bar is high (Python venv, Playwright, ffmpeg, a MiMo key, and OCR needs swiftc on macOS). 15% of forks doesn't mean anyone is using it, and there are no issues (open_issues 0).
- No pushes since the repo was built, so it's unclear whether the interest will last. It could stall once the Douyin topic cools.
- No evidence found that anyone on Bilibili or Douyin used it to make videos and brought back secondary traffic.
