Someone else's free image gallery, and the Chinese version got 6,000 stars 9 hours later: how ai-pose-gallery-zh won the race
What it is A static gallery that translates the whole of Japanese site ギア's AI pose, outfit and portrait references into Chinese, with all the images copied into the repo. It later added an image-generation workbench and a ComfyUI plugin.
Why it took off A new generation of image models can now "change the pose to match a reference image", and people making AI beauty images and AI short dramas in the Chinese-speaking world badly needed complete pose sets. It went live about 9 hours after the original blew up in Japan, and Chinese AI and reposting accounts passed it around as "that link".
CHow you could follow this Don't make this set again. Watch for the next free resource that blows up in overseas AI circles, and build the first Chinese version within a few hours (check the license first; for anything that forbids redistribution, host only an index and links). Post it, get Chinese AI accounts and GitHub digest accounts to repost it, and when it catches on, turn it into a ComfyUI node or a tool to keep the heat going.

In October 27, a promotional account in Japan's AI beauty circles posted 1,439 sets of "AI beauty pose" blank-model images on X for free. That afternoon, a Chinese developer with barely a thousand followers moved the whole site's images and Japanese tags into GitHub, translated everything into Chinese, and deployed it. Ten days later the repo had 6,246 stars and 1,588 forks. All the Chinese, English and ComfyUI versions of the same images together don't come close. It won on speed, and only on speed. Below: what it is, why it was this one, and whether you can use the same move.
One Japanese post, and 9 hours
In the morning of October 27 (around 03:00 UTC), the Japanese promotional account ギア (@giaaibusi) published a long X post titled 「【1,439のポーズ無料配布】AI美女「ポージング」データベース爆誕!」, roughly: 1,439 poses free to download, commercial use and modification allowed. Japan's AI circles reposted it heavily, and someone replied 「これめちゃくちゃ使えます」 (this is super useful). The same day, the Chinese account 知识猫 @GeekCatX also reposted it, with a blunt caption: "Japanese netizens are the real pros at AI… the bros making explicit content… bookmark it hard."
12:24 (UTC), developer Anhao (GitHub anhao, X @anhao_ai 「安好」) created the repo ai-pose-gallery-zh. The first commit read "initialize Chinese version of AI pose gallery". An hour later he added share cards and a search engine description, and an hour after that, visit analytics. That day he posted: "1439 AI beauty pose reference images, open-sourced in Chinese. Download them directly to make videos. Essential for AI image work."
By the end of that day (10-27 23:15 UTC) the repo had 316 stars (archived on rising.dev). The curve afterward looked like this:
| Date | star | fork |
|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 959 | 255 |
| 10-29 | 2,033 | 527 |
| 10-30 | 3,049 | 790 |
| 11-01 | 4,642 | 1,180 |
| 11-03 | 5,471 | 1,393 |
| 11-06 | 6,246 | 1,588 |
The single-day peak was +1,074 on 10-29; by 11-06 the daily gain had fallen to about 140. The author's base was thin: 107 GitHub followers, 1,149 X followers, and his previous best repo had only 83 stars. This project wasn't lifted by the author's own following.
What it actually is
A static web gallery plus a 1.1 GB repo. It holds all of ギア's images: pose blank models with matching depth maps, outfit library, portrait library, over 12,000 images locally. The Japanese motion categories, outfit tags and hairstyles were all translated into Chinese, so a click assembles a generation prompt. You can view it online (ai-pose-gallery.anhao.app), or fork it and deploy your own copy with the bundled Cloudflare config.
After it blew up, the author added a lot over the next three days. 10-31's v2.0 is a "three-in-one AI character compositing workbench": pick a portrait, an outfit and a pose, then generate directly through Gemini, GPT Image, Alibaba Bailian, Volcano Ark or a local ComfyUI. The same day he shipped a ComfyUI plugin, pinned with the post "completely free of cloud moderation limits", which reached 22k views. The community merged 22 PRs, someone added Agent skills, and someone asked in an issue for a switch between line art and depth maps.
But all of that came after it blew up. What made it blow up was that first day's "Chinese version of the image set".
Why suddenly people wanted these images
Two conditions came together.
First, the models changed. GPT Image, Nano Banana (Gemini's image model), Seedream, Qwen Image Edit: this generation of editing models can take one reference image and "swap it to this pose". ギア's original pitch was literally 「このポーズに変えて」 (change to this pose). Consistent, multi-angle, clean blank-model pose sets went from an illustrator's niche material to something generation workflows need.
Second, there were people who wanted it. Lots of people in the Chinese-speaking world make AI beauty images, AI short dramas and suggestive videos, but rarely say so openly. The gallery already had categories like "full-body solo, sexy" and "two-person intimate"; the reposting lines were things like "for the people making explicit stuff" and "not for minors". Many stars were "bookmarked for later" (my inference).
Why this one and not the others
Within 48 hours, the same images had more than a dozen versions:
| Project | Launched | stars (around 11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| The original ギア site (four pages.dev sites) | 10-27 | Not public | The source, in Japanese, split across four sites, bulk download and redistribution prohibited |
| sleepy-zone/ai-ref-library-cn | 10-29 | 726 | Same three libraries translated, Chinese and English search, two days later |
| wangweihong/comfyui-pose-gallery | 10-28 | 290 | ComfyUI nodes only, no web page |
| mugicha-AI/ComfyUI-PoseAtlas | 10-29 | 89 | ComfyUI nodes by a Japanese developer |
| Stone-dielianhua/ComfyUI_Pose-Gallery_ZH | 10-29 | 83 | Offline Chinese ComfyUI nodes |
| Brilliant666, yazelin (Traditional Chinese), iMorpheuz (English), Nozownik (Polish) and others | 10-27~10-31 | 1–12 each | Clones or translations into other languages; some deliberately skip the images to avoid copyright problems |
The runner-up had a ninth of its stars. The content is the same images, and the features aren't very different. The gap comes almost entirely from two things:
- It was hours to two days early. It went live about 9 hours after ギア's post, inside the same news cycle.
- It got passed around as "that link". From 10-28, AI and reposting accounts on Chinese X passed it along one after another: Alex Zhang (@jojogh_007), 周览资源, AIExplorerTim, ShinChven, 领哥, and 10-31 from GitHubDaily. On Taiwan's Threads, @hugoyu wrote "Photographers, you have to bookmark this site." After that came Zhihu columns, CSDN ("4 days, 4500+ stars"), Sohu, a YouTube GitHub Daily episode, and reposting accounts on Facebook and Instagram. I found no evidence of paid promotion; the wording is so similar that copying from each other is more likely.
One more number stands out: forks are a quarter of stars, far above a typical project. The reason is that the images are in the repo, plus one-click deployment, and the original site explicitly forbids redistribution, so people fork it as a backup in case it's taken down. Some fork repos are literally named "pose reference gallery backup". Lots of forks make it look even hotter on GitHub.
Its biggest problem: the images aren't its own
The original ギア site's terms say the images can't be redistributed, reposted or resold, and bulk downloading is banned, including automated scraping with tools. A full Chinese mirror does both. On X, people have already publicly called it an unauthorized mirror of the full original image set, and a Zhihu article raised it too.
Gia isn't running a charity either. His profile reads "欲望市場 × テクノロジーの攻略専用垢" (Desire Market × Tech Strategy Account), and November sells a 48-hour limited "AI Beauty Final Form" program and runs workshops. The free pose library is his lead magnet for selling courses, so a full Chinese mirror would take that lead magnet away from him. Whether he sends a DMCA takedown isn't clear yet, but he has the motive.
The author seems to have noticed: the README now says "for Chinese translation, organization and engineering study archival only", and adult content is hidden by default in a safe mode. For the 1,320 anime outfit entries added on 11-03, the repo stores only metadata and the original site's image URLs and no longer downloads the images.
If it were you
The bottom line: this one can't be followed anymore. The same images have more than a dozen versions, the media has covered them, the window has closed, and it's built on someone else's rights. What's worth taking is the method: on the day a foreign free resource blows up in local circles, make the first Chinese version, open-source it with a live site, and push it to Chinese AI accounts. There's something to learn here, but following this specific one isn't worth it.
Who it suits: people who follow Japanese and English AI circles daily and can finish the scrape → translate → deploy chain within hours. It's even better if you have a few Chinese AI accounts willing to repost for you.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone hoping to earn stars by making yet another Chinese pose library. Second place with 726 and the single-digit numbers after it are your benchmark. Also anyone who worries about copyright disputes or doesn't want a repo that could draw a DMCA on their GitHub account.
How to do it:
- Don't make this set again. Watch for the next one: a free resource that suddenly gets heavily reposted in Japanese, Korean or English AI circles (prompt collections, reference image libraries, workflows, model packs), and build the Chinese version within a few hours of release. It wins on those few hours.
- Check the license first. If the original author said redistribution is OK, copy it in full the same way, add one-click deployment, and expect the "backup" need to amplify forks. If redistribution is forbidden, host only an index, Chinese tags and links to the original site (like it did later with the anime outfits). You'll get fewer stars, but it won't be deleted overnight.
- Add share cards and a search description on day one. It did that within the first hour.
- Once it blows up, move quickly into tooling: ComfyUI nodes, a generation workbench, Agent skills. That turns a one-time bookmark into an ongoing topic. That's how it stayed hot for a week.
- Or do the part it can't: draw or render your own pose white-model set (like Shisei does). Clean copyright, done once, and anyone can safely pass it on.
How to get traffic: your first post should say plainly what it is, "Chinese version, free, download directly." One line is enough; that's how its own post was written. After posting, leave the link under the Chinese reposts of the source tweet, then DM a few Chinese AI accounts and daily-digest accounts like GitHubDaily. Threads and Facebook groups in Taiwan were places it didn't target on purpose but still got traffic from, so go post there yourself.
Timing: this playbook depends on the same news cycle, meaning the 12 to 24 hours after the source goes viral. After 48 hours, you're the dozenth clone.
Signs you read it wrong: ① ギア or other source authors start filing DMCA takedowns and the repo gets pulled. That means the "mirror all the images" route is closed; only indexing and your own assets remain. ② The next similar overseas resource goes viral and the first Chinese version doesn't reach a few thousand stars. That means this demand for adult-oriented AI content just happened to coincide, not that the playbook itself works. ③ Models become good enough at posing from text descriptions alone that they no longer need reference images. Demand for this kind of asset library would drop with it.

anhao/ai-pose-gallery-zh: full Chinese mirror of Japan's "AI beauty pose gallery"
Research date 2026-11-06. Repo github.com/anhao/ai-pose-gallery-zh, live site ai-pose-gallery.anhao.app. Maintainer Anhao (GitHub anhao / Alone88, X @anhao_ai, "安好").
Bottom line
It's not original content but a head-start repost: on 10-27, ギア (@giaaibusi), a promoter in Japan's AI beauty circles, released a free 1,439-image "AI beauty pose" white-model library on X, and it went viral in Japan. About 9 hours later Anhao mirrored the whole site and its Japanese tags to GitHub, fully localized it into Chinese, deployed it, and posted that day: "1439 AI beauty pose reference images, open-sourced Chinese version." Chinese AI accounts and repost accounts (知识猫, AIExplorerTim, 周览资源, GitHubDaily, 领哥, etc.) and a Taiwan Threads account amplified it, hitting the Chinese crowd making "AI beauty / AI short drama / suggestive video" content. GPT Image, Nano Banana, Seedream and Qwen Edit can now take a reference image and "swap this pose in," and what's missing is a full set of multi-angle, Chinese-tagged pose assets. The differentiation was only "Chinese + first + full local images + can fork and self-host." The three-in-one workbench and ComfyUI plugin came later, after it blew up, to catch the traffic. They weren't why it took off.
1. Data
- Stars / forks (from our GitHub repo_day table and data card): 10-27 repo created; 10-28 959 → 10-29 2,033 → 10-30 3,049 → 11-01 4,642 → 11-03 5,471 → 11-06 6,076. Single-day peak +10-29 1,074. Over the last 7 days +3,027; by 11-06 it had clearly slowed (about 140 per day). 11-06 live GitHub API check: 6,242 stars / 1,587 forks.
- First day: rising.dev archive shows 10-27 23:15 UTC with 8 commits and 316 stars (cited from a CSDN DevPress article).
- Fork-to-star ratio is about 25%, well above typical projects. Reason: the repo ships with Cloudflare Pages / Workers deployment config, so forking gets you a self-hosted mirror. Add the original site's explicit ban on bulk download and redistribution, and people fork it as a "backup" out of fear of takedown (e.g. aaa8221953/pose-gallery literally says "pose reference library backup").
- Repo is about 1.1 GB (GitHub API size 1,170,001 KB), roughly 12k images locally.
- The maintainer has a small base: GitHub followers 107, X @anhao_ai followers 1,149 (11-06 X profile). Their previous highest-starred repo was ALAPI (83 stars). This project didn't take off on the author's existing audience.

Takeaway: within 48 hours the same material had a dozen Chinese, English and ComfyUI versions. The anhao version got 6,000+ stars, while second-place sleepy-zone got only 726. The gap came almost entirely from the first few hours, plus the fact that big Chinese accounts passed it around as "that link".
3. Growth tactics (where users come from)
- Riding the Japanese source's hit (confirmed): the ギア 10-27 tweet was itself a hit, and anhao grabbed the first spot in the Chinese market within the same news cycle. The README's first screen credits the original author, which softened the look of "stealing".
- Chinese X AI accounts and repost matrices (confirmed): 知识猫, AIExplorerTim, 周览资源, Alex Zhang, 领哥, 知识分享官, ShinChven and GitHubDaily all posted it. The pitch was nearly identical: "AI beauties", "making porn", "not for minors", aimed at adult AI content makers.
- Taiwan Threads, Facebook groups, Instagram and YouTube reposts (confirmed): hugoyu and kime541200 on Threads; GitHunt and AI groups on Facebook; a "GitHub Daily" YouTube episode 10-31; Japanese Shorts.
- Secondary coverage by Chinese tech media (confirmed): Zhihu column, CSDN DevPress, a Sohu piece titled "Localized | Human Pose Reference Library", the Upcurrent daily, and a SourceForge mirror.
- The author's own product updates drove a second wave (confirmed): 10-31 v2.0 added a ComfyUI plugin, pinned post pushed 22K views, and reposts like "Holy crap, this 5.3K-star AI painting tool just got upgraded" kept growth from dropping after 11-01.
- On-site SEO / share cards (done, effect not verified): SEO, OG images and traffic analytics were added on day one.
- Paid acquisition and ads: no evidence found.
4. Why it charted
- Timing: a new generation of image editing models (GPT Image 2.x, Nano Banana / Gemini Image, Seedream 4/5, Qwen Image Edit) made "give a reference image, swap the pose to match" a mainstream workflow (the ギア original's selling point was the one line "このポーズに変えて"), so sets of multi-angle pose templates suddenly had real demand.
- The demand comes from a large group that's hard to talk about publicly: people in the Chinese scene making AI beauty images, AI short dramas and risqué videos ("黄果"). The material already included "sexy" and "intimate couple" poses, and the repost copy said so openly. Many stars were "bookmarked for later".
- Speed: the library was built about 9 hours after the ギア post; the site went live the same day with SEO and tweets, and the dozen-plus copies that followed were all 1–2 days late.
- Full local images + forkable: it didn't just link out, it moved the images in too. Anyone who forks gets their own copy, so the original site going down doesn't matter, which is why the fork rate was 25%.
- Able to handle the surge: within 3 days it added a clothing library, a portrait library, depth maps, a three-in-one compositing workbench (direct to Gemini / GPT Image / Bailian / Ark), a ComfyUI plugin and Agent skills, and absorbed community PRs (22 merged), so the topic stayed alive for a week.
- Counter-evidence: the author had just over a thousand followers, and the product was the same set of images, so it wasn't driven by the author's audience or by anything exclusive.
5. Differentiation
- Compared with the original ギア site: Chinese-language, four sites in one, works offline, can be forked and self-hosted, and later added a generation workbench and a ComfyUI plugin.
- Compared with other Chinese copies: essentially no fundamental difference, just 1–2 days earlier, and the first one picked up by the big accounts.
- What actually made it take off was "first to localize + being picked up by the repost matrices"; the v2 workbench and ComfyUI are what kept it going after the surge.
6. Risk and visibility
- Copyright: the original ギア site's terms state "redistribution, reposting or resale of the image data itself is prohibited" and "bulk downloading (including automated retrieval by tools, etc.) is prohibited" (fetched via r.jina from the original site, 11-06). On X someone (领哥 LingGe, in one post) has publicly called it an "unauthorized mirror of the entire site's original images," and a Zhihu article raised the same issue. A DMCA takedown could come at any time.
- ギア's own business: the profile reads "desire market × tech strategy-only account"; November is running a 48-hour limited "AI beauty ultimate form" special, collecting LINE "homework", and hosting 11-08 seminars. The free pose library is a lead magnet for his paid courses, so a full Chinese mirror takes his lead magnet away, and he has a strong motive to file a DMCA.
- Visibility: already widely discussed (GitHubDaily, Zhihu, CSDN, Sohu, YouTube and Upcurrent have all covered it), with a dozen-plus copies. The window is closed.
- Online Bailian and Ark channels return parameter-incompatibility errors (recalled from notes, not re-verified).
7. Takeaways
- The "trending overseas free resource → same-day Chinese localization → open source + hosted site → push to a network of Chinese AI accounts" play is repeatable. To win, it almost all comes down to beating everyone else to the same news cycle by a few hours.
- Putting the images in the repo, plus a one-click deploy config, makes fork counts inflate on "backup" demand, so it looks like a hot project.
- Once it blew up, it moved straight to tooling (compositing workbench, ComfyUI nodes, Agent skills), turning one-off bookmark traffic into an ongoing topic of iteration.
- Price in the copyright risk upfront: linking only, or a licensed version (e.g. Brilliant666's "images not stored in the library"), is safer, but you get far fewer stars.
8. Still uncertain
- The specific views and reposts of the original ギア tweet and anhao's first tweet (X pages don't expose counts).
- Whether there was paid promotion or mutual promotion: the identical copy could just be copy-pasting each other, and there's no evidence anyone paid.
- Whether ギア knows and whether he will file a DMCA.
- The site's actual traffic (we only know a traffic script is installed, not the numbers).
- No direct evidence found of spread on Xiaohongshu or Douyin.
