# The late fish: how Aurabot came from behind in the "raise a fish into QQ" wave

**What it is** A plugin for the DeepSeek Harness that lets the AI move into QQ through a QQ alt account as "Big Fat Fish": it chats, sends voice messages, sings, writes Qzone posts, and browses Bilibili, with every feature as a toggleable module.

**Why it took off** The repo was created on the day Bilibili's "fish disaster" hit the news, right when everyone wanted to move the fish into QQ. It is far easier to install than earlier ones (one command plus a graphical wizard), it bundles more features in one package, and the community writes modules together. So after the leading competitors faded, it kept accelerating.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't build another QQ fish. Wait for the next moment when a new platform opens plugins and the community has just produced a meme. Build the meme character as an all-in-one plugin that installs with one command inside the host, is configured from a panel, and is safe by default. Open the module interface in the first week and let the community write modules for you.

Grade C: the "DSH + QQ + persona" niche already has five or six similar projects stuck at a few dozen stars. Aurabot holds the reputation spot, and the hype is also receding (Bilibili rate limits, the leader peaked 10-28). What you can learn is the playbook; directly copying it won't earn many stars. Chatter in small circles

More than a dozen open-source plugins raise DeepSeek's whale mascot "Big Fat Fish" in QQ. Aurabot wasn't the first, and it doesn't have the most stars, but by early November it was the fastest-growing in its category. Its opportunity came from this wave, and it won by being the easiest to install. For anyone who wants their open-source project to earn stars, there is a playbook to learn from it. But building yet another fish after it is now too late.

### It created the repo the day the fish disaster hit the news

On 2026 Oct 24, Kuai Keji published an article: "Bilibili comment sections taken over by the AI Big Fat Fish, cyber fish pond floods the feed." Here's what happened: netizens showed DeepSeek's blue whale logo to an AI, which called it a "blue Big Fat Fish"; an illustrator drew it as a blue-haired whale girl, and the character went viral in AI circles. By late October, many people had installed a plugin on DeepSeek Harness (DSH, DeepSeek's official agent runtime) that browses Bilibili, switched their avatars to the whale girl, and flooded comment sections in bulk. Bilibili then began rate-limiting, and someone on Zhihu started a "Big Fat Fish Removal Plan."

That same afternoon, someone created a GitHub repo called dsh-aurabot-qq (Beijing time 14:43). The first line of the README: "The AI companion 'Big Fat Fish' living in QQ." Plainly, it does this: Bilibili is no longer a good place to be, so move your fish into QQ, where an independent alt account chats with you and group members, sends voice messages, sings, and writes Qzone posts, and when it has time it goes back to browsing Bilibili.

13 days later (11-06), it had 417 stars and 61 forks (GitHub daily figures).

### What it actually is

It is a plugin for DSH. Once installed, the AI inside DSH logs in through a QQ alt account and acts in the Big Fat Fish persona:

- Chats in private messages and groups: in groups it waits a moment when someone pauses, reads a whole passage before replying, always replies when called by name, and when nobody calls it, judges whether the topic warrants joining in;

- Has moods that shift when praised or scolded, and moods affect tone, emoji use, and reply speed; has long-term memory that recalls by a forgetting curve, "the more often it's recalled, the harder it is to forget";

- Can send voice clips, import RVC voice models to sing covers, with speaking and singing in the same voice; collects sticker packs on its own;

- Writes Qzone diary posts and replies to comments based on the day's conversations; picks videos to browse on Bilibili, writes comments, and privately shares them with you;

- Starts conversations on its own, with configurable awake hours and frequency; there is also an optional desktop pet.

Each capability is a module that can be turned on or off, or written by the user. The panel also includes a module marketplace, where the community has already contributed 14 modules covering Douyin, Xiaoheihe, group management, Mijia, phone operation, and more. The whole project is free, under the MIT license.

### It wasn't the first, so why is it growing fastest?

First, how far behind it was. The biggest project on the QQ integration path, qq-bridge, launched in Aug 25 and had 11-06 stars by 3,569. Tencent also released dsh-qqbot. Earlier still, there was the general framework AstrBot (46k stars) plus NapCat, and MaiBot, which had been working since 2025 on making group chat feel human (6,878 stars). In late October, a batch of small repos appeared with nearly the same direction as Aurabot (DSH + QQ gateway + persona + memory), all stuck at a few dozen stars.

Now the curves. qq-bridge peaked on Oct 28 with 377 stars in a single day, and after that it averaged about 30 a day. Aurabot went the other way: climbing from twenty or thirty a day, it hit 4 on Nov 74, its highest day so far. In the last 7 days Aurabot gained 269 stars and qq-bridge gained 289, roughly even, but Aurabot's total is only an eighth of its rival's. The hype is receding, and latecomers who compared the field picked this one.

There are three main reasons.

**It's the easiest to install.** One line, `dsh plugin add github:aureth-labs/dsh-aurabot-qq`. After restarting, Aurabot appears in DSH's left sidebar. The wizard asks for the bot's alt account and your own QQ number, connects the SnowLuma gateway, and starts in "trial run" mode (it replies but doesn't actually send), going live once everything checks out. qq-bridge requires git clone, npm install, manually editing config.json, and running a separate process. Tencent's official plugin works with a QR scan but has no independent QQ account and can't post to Qzone. The AstrBot route requires stitching together several plugins for persona and memory. On linux.do someone asked "How do you set up the Big Fat Fish integration?" In Oct 28 a user replied: "dsh + aurabot + snowluma is how I have it now, the minimal viable setup feels the most convenient"; in Nov 4 another replied: "DSH + Aurabot + SnowLuma is the recommended setup."

**Everything is in one package.** People who raise a fish want it to feel like a real person, so persona, mood, memory, voice, Qzone, and Bilibili all need to be present. Before, you had to install several separate single-feature plugins. Aurabot's acknowledgments say so itself: it drew on the pitfalls those small plugins had hit and merged them into one.

**It turns users into people who write code.** Modules you write take effect when saved and survive upgrades. A key line in the README: "Don't know how to code? Send API.md to DSH and have DSH write it for you." In 13 days the issue and PR numbers reached #266, most of them PRs. Someone wrote a complete "self-driving engine," someone built multi-account support, someone built a memory star map, and someone specifically fixed security holes. Other projects already depend on it, such as dsh-whale-call, a module for watching Douyin livestreams, and aurabot-novel. In 13 days it shipped 47 releases and nearly 400 commits, with 106 of them on Oct 30 alone.

One more point is easy to overlook: it is safe by default. The master switch starts off, trial-run mode starts on, no local tools are attached in group chats or in other people's private messages, and sensitive actions only run when "everyone speaking this turn is the owner." An agent like DSH can act on your computer, so the biggest risk of plugging it into a QQ group is a group member saying one line that makes it act recklessly. These points are written on the first screen of the README.

### Where users come from

| Channel | What we saw |
|---|---|
| The hype itself | DSH now has about 274k stars and a large plugin ecosystem; after the fish disaster, similar QQ plugins rose together from 10-20 to 10-28 |
| Plugin directory sites | More than a dozen DSH plugin directories have listed it, so it can be found in the plugin store |
| Review blogs | The blog 夜雨飘零 published a feature article on it on 10-25 and 11-04 |
| Forum buzz | Recommendation on linux.do (see above) |
| Bilibili tutorial | On 11-03, a video titled "Beginner-friendly tutorial: deploying a humanized QQ Big Fat Fish with DSH" ran for 19 minutes, got 23.9K views, and its chapters were "DSH basics / desktop pet + QQ / browsing Bilibili". That matches Aurabot's feature set, and the day after it was published was the day with the largest gain. I couldn't read the video description, so I can't confirm it covers this project (inference, moderate confidence) |
| QQ group + module marketplace | The README includes a QR code for a discussion group, and community modules and PRs keep coming in |

Not seen: no big account has named it, X search finds nothing, and there's no paid promotion. Nov 3 a viral 'DeepSeek Harness fish-farming tutorial' went around on the Rennen PM blog. Its first section is 'QQ fish farming', but it recommends the official Tencent plugin plus NapCat + AstrBot, and never mentions Aurabot. It spread by word of mouth in small circles.

### Who's competing for the same slot, and is there room left?

The DSH + QQ + persona slot is already crowded. Five or six nearly identical repos appeared in the same month (xiaojingyu, dsh-qq-hub, qq-dsh-bridge, molly-qq-whale, dsh-roost), and all sit at 3–32 stars. Aurabot has taken the 'one-click install, panel config, community-written modules' position, so latecomers will struggle to earn the same word of mouth.

It also has real gaps. Voice cloning (RVC) only works on Windows. Linux and Docker users have to wire up OneBot themselves, and the address setup is easy to get wrong. On linux.do someone wrote, 'Stuck at step four, can't connect to QQ, spent ages and still nothing works.' The FAQ admits the risk of QQ account bans, saying it's 'the same as other QQ bot frameworks.' The author's own commits also dropped off sharply after Nov 4: 11-05 and 11-06 only have 2 each, and development now relies mostly on community PRs.

None of these weaknesses is enough to support a new project on its own. They're better used as PR targets for Aurabot, or as modules for its marketplace.

### If it were you

**C: You can learn from it, but building another QQ big-fish bot now isn't worth it.** The slot is full and the hype is fading (Bilibili has rate-limited it, and the top competitor peaked in Oct 28). What's worth taking is its playbook, not this topic.

- **Who it's for** : developers who want their open-source project to earn stars and who are watching the plugin ecosystem around a new platform. Best if you already have a meme or character the community is familiar with.

- **Who it's not for** : anyone planning to build another 'DSH + QQ + persona' plugin today. The sixth clone will likely stall at a few dozen stars.

- **How to do it** : wait for the moment when a new platform has just opened its plugin system and the community has just produced a meme. Put that meme character into the chat app people use every day (Telegram, Discord, or another agent host's plugin system). Copy Aurabot's approach: one command to install inside the host, a GUI wizard for setup, all features bundled, off by default with a trial run first, and a clear safety statement on the first README screen. If you're arriving later, check whether the early movers are still stuck in the 'clone, npm, edit JSON' developer-tool stage, and ship the version a non-programmer can actually use.

- **How to get users** : on day one, submit to the ecosystem's plugin directories and awesome lists. Answer directly under threads on forums like linux.do where people ask 'how do I connect this?' Help Bilibili tutorial creators get their setups working. Open the module interface in the first week, and add a line to the README like 'Give the API docs to an AI and let it write your module.' Once people start submitting PRs, word of mouth spreads on its own.

- **How early you need to be** : these opportunities follow events, and the window is measured in weeks. Aurabot's repo was created the day the meme hit the news, and within two weeks the winners were clear. By the time you see media coverage, you usually have only a few days left.

- **Signs you've misread it** : (1) If Aurabot stays above 30 stars a day through mid-November, and people are already building Telegram or Discord projects like it, then 'raising a meme character' is more than a passing trend, and a version on another platform is worth building. (2) Conversely, if within the month Bilibili rate limits and QQ bans cause the big-fish hype to drop noticeably, and Aurabot's daily gains fall to single digits, then nearly all its stars came from the event, the product design didn't help much, and the playbook itself should be discounted.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **platform incident (DSH plugin ecosystem + Bilibili fish disaster)** : the fish disaster 10-24 was covered by Quick Technology, and the database was built that same day; similar QQ plugins rose together from 10-20 to 10-28

- **Verified** **DSH plugin directories and navigation sites (store search / SEO)** : more than a dozen sites index it, including awesome-dsh-plugin.com, dshhub.org, plugin.dshx.dev, dpharness.com, dsh.so, and skillhub.cn.

- **Verified** **Community word of mouth (linux.do)** : linux.do/t/topic/3085865 has someone recommending 'dsh + aurabot + snowluma, the minimal working setup and the easiest' (10-28, 11-04).

- **Verified** **Plugin review blogs** : the Yeyu Piaoling blog wrote a dedicated post on it in 10-25 and 11-04.

- Inferred **Bilibili tutorial video** : the 'QQ big fish + brushing Bilibili + desktop pet' chapter of BV1Nn436kE6T (11-324k views) matches Aurabot's features, and it was published the day before the 11-04 peak. I didn't read the video description.

- **Verified** **QQ group + open-source contributions + module marketplace** : the README has a QQ group QR code. Issues and PRs reach #266, with many external contributors. The module repo has 14 community modules, and some third-party libraries depend on it.

## Why Aurabot (aureth-labs/dsh-aurabot-qq) took off

> Channel: GitHub. Data as of 2026-11-06. Star curve from our GitHub database (repo_day, with data for this repo starting 2026-10-27). Competitor stars from the GitHub API (checked live on 11-06). The GitHub API quota ran out that day, so stargazer details (when stars were given, account age) weren't pulled.

### One line

It's a plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH) that lets the AI in DSH move into QQ as a standalone QQ account, in the form of a 'big fish' (a blue-haired whale girl that fans made from the DeepSeek whale logo). It can chat, send emoji, send voice messages, sing, post to Qzone, brush Bilibili, and reach out to people on its own. Every ability is a toggleable module, and there's also a module marketplace. **It took off mainly because it caught two things at once** : the plugin wave around the DSH release, and the late-October Bilibili 'fish disaster' that made 'raising a big fish' go viral. On timing, it was actually late: the largest QQ-bridge player, qq-bridge, already had 3.5k stars. It overtook them on growth rate through its product design: one command to install, a GUI wizard and panel inside DSH, the most features, pluggable modules, fast iteration, and community contributions to the code.

### 1. Data

| Date | star | fork |
|---|---|---|
| 10-27 | 36 | 4 |
| 10-28 | 90 | 10 |
| 10-31 | 186 | 22 |
| 11-03 | 280 | 36 |
| 11-04 | 354 (single-day +74, the highest in the observation window) | 48 |
| 11-06 | 417 (live API check 439) | 61 (checked live 67) |

- Repo age: 2026-10-24,13 days. Last 7 days +269, fork-to-star ratio about 15% (data card).

- Commits: 10-24 to 11-06, 396 commits in total, 10-30 with 106 on a single day (GitHub commits API). 13 releases/tags in 47 days, current v1.2.0 (11-05).

- Issue and PR numbers have reached #266, mostly PRs. Many external contributors: RookieApe-tao wrote a full 'self-driving engine' P0–P4, Emotionana added multi-account support, Fallen-plum-blossom built the memory star map, and kmizmal, hkz404, cdcp998 and others fixed security issues and bugs (issues API). The author's main account, accomplish07zrh-eng, has 294 commits, and there are 10 other contributors.

- The repo was originally under the personal account accomplish07zrh-eng (the blog from 10-25 still links there). After the organization aureth-labs ('Lingjing Yiqi') was created in 11-01, it was moved over (PR #189 'Update repo address', #200 'Update org repo address on About page', 11-02).

- **Counter-cyclical growth is the key signal** : qq-bridge, the top QQ plugin from the same wave, peaked at +377 in a single day at 10-28 and then fell to about 30 a day. Aurabot kept climbing to +74 at 11-04. Over the last 7 days Aurabot gained +269, while qq-bridge (10-30→11-06) gained +289, so the two are nearly tied, yet Aurabot has only 1/8 of its competitor's stars (our GitHub database, repo_day).

### 2. Background: platform event + meme

1. **DSH is DeepSeek's official agent runtime, with the slogan "Everything is a Plugin"** . 2026-08-13 It's open source and currently has about 274k stars (GitHub API). It has spawned a whole plugin ecosystem: a pile of plugin directory sites (awesome-dsh-plugin at 23k stars, dsh-market at 11k stars), plus dozens of auto-indexing sites like dsh-hub.cc, dshhub.org, plugin.dshx.dev, dpharness.com and dsh.so, and a "DSH 1024Store plugin chart" on Bilibili.

2. **The 'big fish' meme** : users fed DeepSeek's blue whale logo to an AI to identify, and the AI called it a 'big blue fish.' An illustrator then drew it as a whale girl, which went viral in AI circles (Quark Tech, 2026-10-24, eet-china.com/mp/a533534.html). Back in 08-18, the desktop whale-girl balance widget DeepSeek-Balance-Whale-Widget had already reached 6.9k stars.

3. **The Bilibili 'fish disaster' (late October)** : many people installed plugins that brush Bilibili for DSH (the leading one was Alterssss/dsh-bili-whale, created 10-17, now at 930 stars), switched their avatars to the whale girl, and mass-posted comments in comment sections. It ended up in the media (Quark Tech 10-24; a Zhihu piece 'The Big Fish Cleanup Plan'; YouTube videos recapping 'the fish disaster'), and Bilibili began rate-limiting and risk-controlling the accounts.

4. **After the fish disaster, people wanted to move the fish into QQ** : the Rennen PM / digital life creator Kazuki 'DeepSeek Harness fish-farming tutorial' (11-03, woshipm.com/ai/6488220.html) opens with 'QQ fish farming.' The article also says people on Xiaohongshu and Bilibili were already selling fish-farming tutorials and paid fish-sitting services. But it recommends Tencent's official dsh-qqbot, plus having DSH set up NapCat + AstrBot itself, **and does not mention Aurabot** .

Aurabot's repo was created on 10-24, the same day the fish disaster reached the media.

### III. Competitors

| Competitors | Form | Launched | Scale (11-06) | How it differs from Aurabot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Derpyu520/qq-bridge | Open source, a DSH⇄SnowLuma bridge tool | 2026-08-25 | 3,569 stars / 220 forks | Requires git clone, npm install, and hand-editing config.json. It's a standalone process, pitched on message bridging and "group-chat simulation." No voice, singing, space, or Bilibili, and no module marketplace. Growth 10-28 peaked and then declined |
| xmanrui/dsh-im | Open-source DSH plugins | 2026-08-14 | 3,299 stars | Generic multi-IM access (Feishu, WeChat, DingTalk, QQ, TG…). Positioned as "tool integration," not personality or lifelike features |
| tencent-connect/dsh-qqbot | Tencent's official DSH plugin | 2026-08-14 | 546 stars | Runs on the official QQ bot API. Scan-to-bind, lowest barrier, but no independent QQ account, can't post to QZone, and gameplay is limited (quoted from a woshipm article) |
| AstrBot + NapCat | Open-source generic QQ bot framework (doesn't depend on DSH) | 2022-12 | AstrBot 46k stars; NapCat 12k stars | Veteran project with lots of plugins, but personality and long-term memory are DIY. Several people on linux.do recommend "snowluma + astrbot" (linux.do/t/topic/3085865) |
| MaiBot (麦麦) | Open-source AI that chats in QQ groups like a human | 2025-02 | 6,878 stars | The earliest to do "chatting in groups like a person." Doesn't connect to DSH, so it missed this wave of DSH and fat-fish traffic |
| sakurawwwxh/qq-agent-plus | Open-source Linux QQ group agent | 2026-09-18 | 104 stars | Also has split-message replies, stickers, proactive speech, and a plugin index, but on a small scale. Aurabot PR #253 mentions "aligning with qq-agent-plus" |
| Yuuyuko-uu/dsh-qq-link and a series of similar repos | Open-source DSH plugins | 2026-10-20 | 172 stars | Single-feature mini plugins (two-way relay, mood, memory, each installed separately). Aurabot's README acknowledgments credit them for pitfalls they'd already hit |
| LangBot / CowAgent / Koishi / NoneBot | Open-source IM bot framework | 2019–2022 | 6k–48k stars | Generic framework, not tied to a personality, and didn't catch DSH traffic |
| Small peers: NoMindSama/qq-dsh-bridge (10-28,32 stars), 3150481853/molly-qq-whale (10-20,26 stars), Frostyume/xiaojingyu (10-30,17 stars), lecheng2018/dsh-qq-hub (11-02,3 stars), tdcq9594/dsh-roost (10-26,24 stars) | Open source | Late October | Dozens of stars | Nearly identical direction (DSH + SnowLuma + personality + memory), none of them took off |

Bottom line: **this direction has plenty of competitors and no shortage of early movers.** Aurabot wasn't first, and it isn't the biggest, but its growth rate is now number one.

### 4. Where users come from (growth levers)

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Platform event: DSH plugin ecosystem + demand from the fish-disaster meme | Fish-kill story 10-24 hits the media, library built same day; similar libraries rise together in the same window (qq-bridge 10-20 to 10-28 goes from 1.3k to 3.1k) | Confirmed |
| Auto-indexed by DSH plugin directories and navigation sites (effectively "store search" and SEO) | At least a dozen sites list it: awesome-dsh-plugin.com, dshhub.org, plugin.dshx.dev, dpharness.com, dsh.so, dsh-plugins-mp.com, dshpluginhub.ai, dsh.works, zhengdianxue.com, skillhub.cn, and more (Exa search results) | Confirmed |
| Ye Yu Piao Ling blog (a DSH plugin review or aggregation blog) | 10-25 and 11-04 each ran a dedicated post on Aurabot (blog.yeyupiaoling.cn) | Confirmed |
| linux.do word of mouth | In the thread "Folks, how do you hook up the big fat fish?", someone recommends "dsh + aurabot + snowluma is the minimum viable and easiest setup" (10-28), and 11-04 another says "DSH + Aurabot + SnowLuma is the recommended setup" | Confirmed |
| Bilibili tutorial videos | "Beginner's guide: deploy a humanlike QQ fat fish with DSH, chat, browse Bilibili, share videos with each other, install a desktop pet" (BV1Nn436kE6T, posted 11-03, 23.9k views). Its chapters match Aurabot's feature set exactly, and it was posted the day before the single-day peak 11-04. "DSH one-click deployment of the fat fish and QQ integration, spoon-fed tutorial" (BV1ngx76SEXk, 10-28,1100 views). I couldn't read the description of either video, so I can't confirm they use Aurabot. | Unconfirmed (highly suspicious) |
| QQ group + community contributions | README includes a QQ group QR code. Issues and PRs reached #266, with external contributors submitting PRs in batches. The module repo dsh-aurabot-qq-mods has 14 community modules (Douyin, Xiaoheihe, group admin, Mijia, phone control…). Third-party libraries depend on it too (dsh-whale-call "depends on dsh-aurabot-qq", dsh-aurabot-mod-kanzhibo, aurabot-novel) | Confirmed |
| X, big accounts, media mentions | x-radar shows 0 posts each for "aurabot" and "fat fish." The big-account article by Kazike didn't name Aurabot | No evidence |
| Paid acquisition, star-buying | No paid promotion seen. Fork-to-star ratio is about 15%, with plenty of PRs, which doesn't look bought. Stargazer breakdown not checked because of API rate limits | None seen |

### 5. Why it took off

1. **Timing:** DSH's official plugin mechanics + the fat-fish meme + the Bilibili fish disaster all converged, turning "bring my fish to life and move it into QQ" into a mass-market need. The repo was tracked on the day the fish disaster hit the media.

2. **Lowest install barrier, no loss of features:** one line, `dsh plugin add github:...`, and it's installed. A graphical wizard appears in DSH's left sidebar. Follow the prompts, enter your QQ number, connect SnowLuma, and you can "trial run / go live." qq-bridge requires cloning, npm, and hand-editing JSON. Tencent's official plugin is simple, but has no independent QQ account and can't post to QZone. The AstrBot route requires assembling a pile of plugins yourself. Linux.do users describe it as "minimum viable and easiest."

3. **All-in-one:** personality, mood, long-term memory (with forgetting curve), voice and covers (RVC), sticker packs, QQ Zone, Bilibili, proactive chat, and a desktop pet, all in one package. Previously you had to install several single-function plugins (the Yuuyuko-uu series). Now one install does it. This matches what "fish-raising" users want: something that feels alive.

4. **Modular + module marketplace turns users into contributors:** the panel installs community modules in one click; custom modules hot-reload and survive upgrades; the README even says "don't know how to write one? Send API.md to DSH and have it write it for you." The result: 13 days in, there were 266 issues/PRs and 14 community modules, and third-party libraries now depend on it. A healthy ecosystem builds word of mouth.

5. **Iteration speed and safe defaults:** 13 versions in 47 days, nearly 400 commits. The master switch is off by default, trial mode is on. Group chats don't expose local tools, and sensitive actions can only be triggered by the owner. An agent like DSH that can touch the local machine is risky to plug into a QQ group. These design choices address that concern directly.

### VI. Differentiation

Its differentiation is **"native DSH plugin + all-in-one lifelike features + pluggable module marketplace."** Each feature on its own already existed: MaiBot did personality chat, qq-bridge did QQ bridging, dsh-bili-whale did Bilibili browsing. It was the first to package them into one-click install, panel-based configuration, and community extensibility. **Is that why it took off? Yes, with a caveat.** When the hype arrived, it wasn't first, and it wasn't the star leader. As the hype fades, it's still accelerating, while early movers are declining. That suggests later users chose it after comparing alternatives (linux.do's recommendations are evidence). So differentiation let it overtake in the second half, but whether it had the chance depended on timing.

### 7. Visibility

**It's spreading in niche circles.** The DSH plugin directories, linux.do, plugin review blogs, and QQ groups all have people promoting it. Bilibili may have tutorial videos (unconfirmed). But no big accounts or mainstream media have named it, and there's no X buzz. The project is free and MIT-licensed, so there's no public revenue. People sell fish-raising tutorials on Xiaohongshu and Bilibili and offer raising-for-hire (mentioned in the woshipm article). The money flows through those services, not the plugin itself.

### 8. Copycats

- Many small projects in the same direction (xiaojingyu, dsh-qq-hub, qq-dsh-bridge, molly-qq-whale, dsh-roost) all have under a few dozen stars. Most appeared at the same time or slightly later, so it's hard to say they're copying it.

- An ecosystem built on top of it has already emerged: dsh-whale-call (11-04, depends on Aurabot), dsh-aurabot-mod-kanzhibo (Douyin livestream module), aurabot-novel, wechat-persona-skill ("Aurabot integration").

### 9. What to borrow

- **Riding the platform-event and meme window:** when a new platform opens a plugin mechanism and the community already has a ready-made IP meme, the demand for "bringing the meme character into the IM users use every day" is already there.

- **Late entry wins on install experience and all-in-one:** early movers were mostly developer-tool style (clone/npm/JSON). Later entrants only need a one-click install inside the host, a graphical wizard, and a panel to capture non-programmer users.

- **Module marketplace + teaching users to have AI write modules:** lower the extension barrier to "hand the API docs to an agent" and community contributions explode. That's also a moat.

- **Safety defaults prominent in the README:** when agent products plug into social settings, this is users' biggest concern.

- The model could transfer to other IMs and hosts (WeChat, Discord, Telegram; the Claude Code and Codex plugin systems). But you need a matching character meme and platform event to replicate this curve.

### 10. What's still uncertain

- The source of 11-04's single-day +74: the most suspicious candidate is Bilibili BV1Nn436kE6T (11-324k views), but I couldn't read the video description, so I can't confirm it uses Aurabot.

- Stargazer account quality and star timing distribution (GitHub API quota exhausted, not checked).

- Real install counts: DSH plugin marketplace installs and module marketplace downloads (PR #195 added download counting, but no public data) weren't obtained.

- Retention: Bilibili has already put the fish-raising trend under risk controls, so it's unclear how long the interest will last. The core maintainer's commits have dropped noticeably after 11-04 (11-05 and 11-06 each have 2 commits), and development now relies mainly on community PRs.

- Account bans from Tencent: the FAQ itself acknowledges the risk is "the same as other QQ bot frameworks."
