The official side didn't make a mobile version; a plugin author did: DSH Go 12 days 12k stars, how the stars were organized
What it is An unofficial Android app for DeepSeek Harness: run DSH directly on your phone, remote-control DSH on your computer, and let AI operate your phone, with a plugin marketplace and a desktop pet.
Why it took off The author was already the creator of dsh-TUI, a DSH plugin with 7k stars, and had a following and groups; they timed the launch to one midday: a GitHub release, a joint Bilibili submission from marketing accounts, and an X post, then DSH's popularity on Bilibili via "Big Fat Fish" gave it extra reach, with "if it hits 1000 stars I'll build iOS" as a nudge to star.
CHow you could follow it Don't build another DSH mobile client. Copy the playbook: first ship a small plugin on a hot open-source platform to build a name and a community, then build the client the official side is missing, and launch it as an event. If you really want to touch DSH, build a plugin for the roundup posts, or fill the gaps it leaves: a Windows remote control and a native HarmonyOS app.

DSH Go is an unofficial Android client for DeepSeek Harness (DSH): run DSH directly on your phone, or remote-control the DSH on your computer. The repo was created in Oct 25, went into public beta in Oct 30, and reached 6 12,648 stars by Nov (GitHub, 11-06). It was not the first to do this; a dozen similar apps appeared two and a half months earlier. But its author already had a 7k-star older project and an existing QQ group, and the launch landed in the same week DSH went viral on Bilibili, so the launch was organized as one noon push across three platforms. Below: what it is, where the stars came from, who it competes with, and what room is left.
Oct 30, noon 12
At noon on Oct 30, 2026, three things happened within the same hour: v1.0.0 was released on GitHub (11:44); the video "Nuclear bomb! DSH-Go finally in public beta! The best DSH app?! (unofficial)", a joint upload by Bilibili UP host 「黑鸦Heya」 and the author, went live under Bilibili's "AI Creation Open Contest"; and the author posted the launch on X, closing with: "Once it hits 1000 stars, I'll adapt it for iOS and HarmonyOS."
Three hours later the repo passed 1k stars, and the author shared a screenshot of the celebration in the group. Zhidongxi published a story that afternoon headlined 《3 hours to 1k stars! DeepSeek Harness mobile app is here》, noting 1.7k stars at publication and 6,000 installer downloads. The day brought in 2,288 stars and took #1 on Trendshift's all-languages daily chart (GitHub's official trending page doesn't list repos under 60 days old, so Trendshift filled that spot).
By 11-06 the Bilibili video had 211k views, 8,491 likes and 10.2k favorites. UP creator 黑鸦Heya has 74.5k followers and describes themselves in their bio as 「营销号&标题党」 (clickbait marketing account).
What it is
DSH is an agent framework DeepSeek open-sourced in August 2026, with 274k stars on the main repo. But the official client only runs on macOS and Windows desktop, and on phones you can only use the web version. DSH Go fills that gap:
- Run locally: the app extracts an Ubuntu 24.04, Node.js and DSH, and launches them via PRoot. No root, no separate Termux install, and it needs roughly 1 GB of free space.
- Remote control your PC: connect to the DSH on your computer via SSH, or via the remote plugin ds-harness-remote developed by 李国宝, with conversations and task progress synced.
- Phone control: with accessibility permission enabled, the agent can read the screen, tap and type; sensitive actions are handed back to you by default.
- Other: a native UI you can switch to and from the official web UI with one tap, a plugin marketplace, shareable conversation cards and encrypted replay links, landscape and tablet layouts, six themes, and two desktop pets: the little whale Deepy and 「鲸娘」, who types code while working, does somersaults when done, and raises a hand when waiting for your confirmation.
Written in Flutter, open source under AGPL-3.0, distributed only as an APK, not on Google Play. It shipped 12 versions in 12 days, and every commit and merged PR is from the author alone. Zhidongxi's hands-on verdict: 「fairly complete」, with occasional lag and session sync dropouts as the weak spots.
Where the stars came from
| Date | Cumulative stars | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| 10-19 ~ 10-24 | Not yet in the database | The author posted demos on X: Blender modeling 49k impressions, 「Would everyone look forward to a DSH app?」 25k impressions |
| 10-25 ~ 10-29 | 43 → 148 | Repo created and internal beta, about +16~37 per day; 10-26 Bilibili teaser 11k views |
| 10-30 | About 2,350 | Public beta, +2,288 that day; Trendshift all-languages #1 |
| 11-03 | 5,776 | About +1,000~1,600 per day; 陈大黄 (@realchendahuang) posted 「this dsh-go is currently the best practice for DeepSeek Harness on mobile」, 53.5k views |
| 11-05 | 9,339 | Second wave accelerated, about +2,000 per day; a batch of X roundups of 「wild DSH plugins」 ranked it first (@cnyzgkc, 139k impressions) |
| 11-06 | 12,648 | GitHub live counts |
Star counts are daily numbers from GitHub and Trendshift; impression counts are from X. Five traffic sources can be identified:
The author's existing following. The author ccch1mneyyy previously built dsh-TUI, a terminal UI plugin for DSH, which had 6.3k stars at public beta and is now around 7k. According to Zhidongxi, DSH team lead 崔添翼 once publicly recommended it (this quote appears only in a screenshot the author shared and has not been verified). The dsh-TUI QQ group was converted directly into DSH Go's beta group, and the README, X bio and media coverage all open with 「dsh-TUI author」.
An organized launch. Two weeks of teasers, a week of beta, then a Bilibili preview, followed by GitHub, X and Bilibili all going out at the same noon. The Bilibili video was a contest entry by a two-person creative team: the marketing UP creator plus the author.
Timing. From mid-October, DSH was nicknamed 「蓝色大肥鱼」 (big blue fat fish) on Bilibili, and memes spread everywhere; in early November DSH's official account joined Bilibili, its first video reaching 24M views in 2.11 hours and gaining 400k followers in one day (uisdc). A large wave of non-programmers installed DSH, and their first question was 「how do I keep an eye on it when I'm away from my computer?」 DSH Go's second wave (from 11-04) landed the same week as the official account's arrival and the plugin roundup posts. The desktop pet 鲸娘 also tapped into the 「fat fish」 anime-style meme, and tweets and videos used her as the cover image.
Trading stars for features. 「Star it past 1000 and I'll do iOS and HarmonyOS」, repeated in the README: 「The more stars you give, the faster I adapt, hhh」. For people without Android phones waiting on an iOS version, starring is effectively a vote to push for updates. 11-05 the author posted 「Reached 10k stars, iOS support coming soon」, 71k impressions.
Partners vouching for each other. The remote feature uses 李国宝's ds-harness-remote and his self-funded public server, which the README credits; 李国宝 vouched for it on X, and his own repo's stars went from 477 to 991 that same week.
No sign of star farming: the installers across 12 versions have about 223k cumulative downloads (including repeat downloads on updates), and many of the 469 issues are device-specific bugs (HarmonyOS, HyperOS, Android 17, background kills on vivo). That is evidence real people are using it.
It's not the first
「Bringing DSH to the phone」 was one of the earliest crowded directions after DSH went open source.
| Project | Launched | Stars (11-06) | How DSH Go differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| DSH-APP/DSHA | 2026-08-14 | 3,092 | Also bundles Ubuntu and needs no root, two and a half months earlier; local-only, with no PC remote control, plugin marketplace or desktop pet |
| shaobeichen/dsh-pocket | 2026-08-15 | 2,787 | Same tagline (「put it in your pocket」); runs the web version on a PC and the phone visits it by QR scan, with no engine on the phone |
| liguobao/ds-harness-remote | 2026-08-14 | 1,934 | Remote plugin, not an app; a partner of DSH Go |
| kelai141/dsh-mobile-apk | 2026-08-13 | 1,021 | Web shell plus a Termux snapshot, not a native UI |
| jackwener/DSH-Android | 2026-10-27 | 842 | Roughly the same time; local run plus screen-reading automation, with no PC remote control |
| Other DSH mobile apps | 2026-08 ~ 10 | Each 260~770 | Local-only or remote-only; most wrap the official web UI |
This table shows two things. First, DSH Go's differences are real: it's the first to package 「local run + PC remote control + native UI + plugins + polish」 in one app, which is why others call it the 「best practice」. Second, that isn't the main reason it reached 12k stars. DSHA, which overlaps in features and came out two and a half months earlier, has only 3k stars. What made the difference was the author's existing following, the organized launch, and the timing of that week. The product is good enough that once traffic arrived, the word of mouth was positive.
There's another side too: a viewer comment pinned on the Bilibili beta video says, roughly, 「Oh, it's not official? Then never mind.」 Once the official team ships a mobile app, projects like this get re-ranked.
Others are already following
- iOS: imsai-sh/fish-pocket was created on 11-05. It runs DSH locally on iPhone and iPad, with the UI fully rewritten in SwiftUI, Dynamic Island support, and a TestFlight beta. 11-06 has 82 stars, and someone on X posted it to 24k impressions. There are also a few iOS clients with single-digit stars. The DSH Go author has said "iOS support coming soon" himself.
- HarmonyOS: the author has promised it, and people in the issues ask for a 「native HarmonyOS local mode」 (#325), but it hasn't been built.
- Clones: the README says 「unauthorized commercial clones are prohibited」, and the Deepy and 鲸娘 mascots, names and logos are not covered by the open-source license, which suggests people are already reworking it.
If it were you
C: study how it launched, don't go head-to-head on DSH mobile. The Android slot is already taken by it and a dozen similar apps; on iOS there's the author's own promise and fish-pocket competing; its stars came from the name and group dsh-TUI built up, which followers can't borrow; Zhidongxi, uisdc, and NetEase have all covered it, and a circle of Chinese AI accounts pushed it on X. Another DSH mobile client would most likely land in DSHA's tier, or lower.
Who it fits: developers who've already built a small tool on some newly hot open-source platform (not necessarily DSH), with some name and a group. Your position would be what dsh-TUI was to DSH Go. Or someone strong at native iOS who can ship something more complete than fish-pocket within two or three weeks, betting that DSH Go's iOS version comes later.
Who it doesn't fit: anyone with no following in the DSH ecosystem who plans to write an Android client from scratch; anyone hoping to catch up by adding more features. DSHA came out two and a half months earlier with plenty of features and only 3k stars.
How to do it: copy the playbook, not the product. First ship a small, genuinely useful plugin on a platform that's gaining traction, aiming to get people from the official community to try it once and to set up a group. For the second project, target 「the side the official team hasn't built」 (mobile, terminal, a specific IDE, an SDK for a particular language), and bring it to consumer-grade polish: a native UI, and a mascot that can make GIFs from screenshots. If you do want to touch DSH, the open gaps are what DSH Go hasn't done well: the SSH remote control on Windows PCs doesn't work yet (#526), there's no native HarmonyOS version, and few plugins can hook into phone capabilities. A plugin that makes the next 「wild plugins」 roundup is easier to get stars from than a client.
How to get users: run the launch like an event. Two weeks ahead, post demos on X and recruit beta testers; attach it to a contest or event the platform is running (like Bilibili's AI creation contest); find a willing UP creator to co-post a video and write a bold title; put out the GitHub release, the video and the X thread in the same hour; and give people a reason to star, such as 「we'll build iOS at N stars」. That kind of line, which ties stars to the next feature users want, really works.
When to move: DSH's current wave is now. DSH's official Bilibili account only joined in early November, and new users are still pouring in. If you want to build a plugin in the DSH ecosystem, ship it before late November so it can catch the roundup posts that are still coming. If you want to build a DSH iOS client, the window depends on when DSH Go's iOS version ships, and it's probably only a few weeks.
Signs you've misread this: (1) DSH's official team doesn't ship a mobile app within a month, and an iOS client without author backing like fish-pocket still gains over 3,000 stars, meaning there's room on DSH mobile for non-famous projects, and it should move up to B; (2) DSH Go keeps gaining at 500 or more stars per day in a week with no new releases and no new posts from the author, meaning its stars mostly come from organic search by DSH users rather than the organized launch, so followers could also get a share; (3) the official DSH team releases a mobile app, reshuffling the whole category, and at that point no third-party client, including this one, is worth following.

One line
DSH Go is an unofficial Android client for DeepSeek Harness (DSH, an open-source agent framework from DeepSeek 2026-08; official version is desktop-only): it bundles Ubuntu + Node on the phone to run the DSH engine directly (no root, no Termux), can also remote-control a DSH instance on your computer, and adds phone control, a plugin marketplace, session sharing and a desktop pet. It took off thanks to three things stacked together: the author already had dsh-TUI (about 7k stars, named by the DSH lead) and its fans and groups; 10-30 a launch with a prepared lead-up, where the GitHub release, X posts and a Bilibili "AI Creation Open Contest" video all went out at noon; and perfect timing with the national DSH wave on Bilibili, sparked by the "big fat fish" meme and DSH's official account joining Bilibili. The product itself is much more polished than its peers (native UI, local + remote in one app, desktop pet), which made people willing to call it "best practice."

Competitors: lots of people did the same thing, and most were ~two months earlier
Since DSH August went open source, "bringing DSH to mobile" has been one of the first opportunities to get crowded. Similar projects in our database (star count 11-06):
| Product | Type | Launched | Scale | How DSH Go differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek official DSH desktop / Web UI | Big-company features | 2026-08 | deepseek-harness 274k stars | Official only ships macOS / Windows desktop apps, no phone app; on mobile you can only connect to the Web UI. The author's launch post said "official mobile adaptation is coming" (unverified) |
| DSH-APP/DSHA | Open-source Android | 2026-08-14 | 3,053 stars, +7 in 447 days | Also root-free and Termux-free, bundles Ubuntu, two and a half months earlier; but it only runs locally, has a tool-style UI, and has no remote mode, plugin marketplace or desktop pet |

| liguobao/ds-harness-remote | Open-source remote plugin | 2026-08-14 | 1,934 stars, +7 in 991 days (+477 last week) | A P2P remote access solution; DSH Go's remote mode plugs directly into its plugin and server, so it is a partner, and it doubled along with DSH Go's surge |
| kelai141/dsh-mobile-apk | Open-source Android | 2026-08-13 | 1,021 stars | WebView shell + Termux snapshot, non-native UI |
| jackwener/DSH-Android | Open-source Android | 2026-10-27 | 832 stars | Launched around the same time; also runs locally plus screen-reading operation app and automation; no remote control of the computer and no community packaging |
| saya-ch/dsh-mobile, Clarklevis1995/dsh-mobile, woaiys3/…android-app, WSK-build/DSHBox, Soodok/…Local-Android, sorsama/deepseek-harness-mobile, etc. | Open source | 2026-08 ~ 09 | each with 260~770 stars | Either remote only or local only; most are WebView wrappers of the official Web UI |
| moonoops/Droy, uumit-ai/dsh-uumit-remote | Open source | 2026-10 | 336 / 493 stars | Launched around the same time, an order of magnitude smaller |
Takeaway: It was not the first, nor the only one; it was the first to package "local run + remote control of the computer + native UI + plugin marketplace + polish" into one app, and its launch got far more attention than any peer (the top peer, DSHA, reached 3k stars in two and a half months; DSH Go got 2.3k in one day).
Growth tactics (evidence)
- The author's own channels and a legacy-project endorsement [confirmed]: the author is the creator of dsh-TUI (6,990 stars, described as "DSH official's recommended TUI plugin"; 智东西 reported that DSH lead 崔添翼 named it as a recommendation). The README, the X bio and media coverage all open with "dsh-TUI author"; dsh-TUI's QQ group was converted directly into the DSH Go beta group (10-23 the author on X: "You can first join the discussion group of my other project").
- Teaser + beta + scheduled launch [confirmed]: from 10-19 the demos ran on X in a series, 10-23 the beta was opened to public sign-ups, 10-26 the Bilibili teaser, and 10-30 at noon the GitHub release, X post and Bilibili video all went out within the same hour.
- Bilibili AI Creation Open Contest + joint upload with a marketing-style UP主 [confirmed]: the public-beta video was an entry in Bilibili's "AI Creation Open Contest S2" (launched in October, with NVIDIA and Google as partners). The creative team was 2 people: UP主 黑鸦Heya (74.5k followers, bio self-described as "marketing account & clickbait") plus the author. Title: "Nuclear bomb! DSH-Go finally in public beta! DSH's best APP?!", 211k views. 优设 and NetEase articles named it as an example of Bilibili's developer ecosystem.
- Star-ask pitch [confirmed]: "Once it passes 1000 stars, I'll adapt iOS and HarmonyOS" (10-30), README: "The more stars, the faster I adapt, hhh", and when the group was full, a note: "Remember to star the project, it matters a lot to me." Tying stars to a feature users want (iOS) is one direct reason why APK projects like this show a high star-to-download ratio.
- Media and KOL amplification [confirmed]: 智东西 covered it the same day (reposted on Zhihu and NetEase); on X, @NFT_Chen (27k followers), @KengGuangLong, @realchendahuang (陈大黄, 13.5k followers; "the best practice for DSH on mobile" 54k impressions); from 11-04 a batch of "wild DSH plugin 7 category" roundups (139k / 38k / 26k impressions) all put it first; on the English side there were hermes-ai/AlphaSignal, Reddit r/coolgithubprojects, several YouTube reposts, and LinkedIn.
- Platform tailwinds [confirmed]: from mid-October the Bilibili "blue big fat fish" meme spread widely; in early November DSH's official account joined Bilibili, and its first video got 24 hours 2.11M views and gained 400k followers in one day (优设). On X, @lxfater said it "hit #1 on trending." Many new DSH users flooded in that week, and "how to use it on the phone" was a must-have question that DSH Go happened to answer. From 11-04 its second wave of growth, the official account joining, and the plugin roundup posts all lined up in time.
- Partners cross-promoting [confirmed]: the remote feature uses 李国宝's ds-harness-remote plugin and his self-funded public-good server, credited in the README. 李国宝 promoted it on X ("DSH Go's HarmonyOS version is coming"), while his own repo's daily star gain rose from 7 to 477 991.
Star farming: no evidence found. Fork-to-star ratio is 4.5%, below the median 5000% for new repos with ≥11 stars, but this is an APK project (users download the installer and don't need to fork), and about 220k APK downloads and 469 issues, many of them specific-device bugs (HarmonyOS 7, HyperOS, Android 17), are signs of real use. Stargazer details couldn't be pulled through the GitHub API this time, so account quality wasn't checked.
Why it made the charts
- The demand is real and the timing was right: DSH officially only ships a desktop app, and the Bilibili "raising fish" wave led many non-developers to install DSH; "I can't keep an eye on it when I'm away from my computer" was the first pain point the X roundup posts kept repeating. DSH Go launched right at the peak of the wave (10-30 ~ 11-05).
- The author had ready trust and channels: dsh-TUI's reputation, the DSH lead's endorsement and the QQ group meant it didn't have to start growth from zero on day one.
- A well-orchestrated launch: two weeks of teasers, a beta, a Bilibili contest entry plus a joint upload with a marketing UP主, X posts, and same-day media coverage, all hitting at the same noon. It went straight onto the Trendshift all-language daily chart at #1 on day one (GitHub's official trending doesn't list repos less than 60 days old, so Trendshift filled that spot).
- The product is clearly more polished than the rest of its niche: native Flutter UI, one-click switching between local and remote, seamless handoff with the official web version, a plugin marketplace, session sharing and replay, landscape tablet support, Chinese and English, six themes. 12 days, 12 releases. People who tried it kept calling it "refined", "the UI has taste", and "feels as smooth as the native dsh".
- The mascot and whale girl are shareable content: the Deepy little whale and whale-girl GIFs tap straight into the Bilibili "big fat fish" anime culture. Short videos and posts use them as cover art.
- Using stars to trade for an iOS promise: turning stars into "vote to speed up the release" amplified star growth.
Differentiation
Compared with the closest rivals DSHA, DSHBox, and jackwener/DSH-Android, running locally is something everyone has done (built-in Ubuntu, no root needed). What sets DSH Go apart is that one app does both local runs and remote control of a computer, with a consumer-grade native interface and community features (plugin marketplace, sharing, desktop pet). Against dsh-pocket and ds-harness-remote, which only do remote control, it adds a local engine and phone-side control. That differentiation is why it gets called a "best practice", but it is not the main reason it took off: DSHA launched two and a half months earlier with overlapping features and has only 3k stars. What really separated them was distribution: the author's existing audience, the Bilibili public contest plus a首发 push from marketing accounts, and the timing of DSH's breakout. The product being good meant that once the traffic arrived, word of mouth stayed positive and people kept sharing it.
Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: widely discussed. Zhidongxi (republished on Zhihu and NetEase), UISDC, and NetEase have all covered it. Several Chinese AI accounts on X with 10k to 110k followers promoted it. On the English side there are AlphaSignal / hermes-ai, YouTube, and Reddit. The conversation has mostly stayed within the DSH ecosystem and Chinese AI circles, and revenue is not a factor (it is free and open source).
- Copycats: imsai-sh/fish-pocket (created 11-05, 81 stars) openly says it is "a full port of the hot dsh-go to iOS". @NFT_Chen promoted it to 24k impressions. 10-30 later a batch of DSH iOS clients appeared (shimiei/Im-dsh, czy20010112/dsh-swift, toyoseafood-dotcom/dshphone, and others), all in single-digit stars. The author wrote in the README that "unauthorized commercial knockoffs are prohibited", which suggests people were already repackaging it.
Takeaways
- Build the "other side" of a viral open-source platform that the official team hasn't built (here, the phone side), and get it to consumer quality before the official team does.
- Use a small project (dsh-TUI) to build a reputation in the ecosystem, win official endorsement, and set up a group. When the second project launches, it can plug straight into that.
- Organize the launch: teaser → beta group → platform event (Bilibili AI Creation Public Contest) + a joint post from marketing-oriented UP creators → same-day media coverage, with every channel hitting in the same hour.
- Tie stars to the next feature users want ("we'll build iOS once it reaches X stars").
- A mascot or desktop pet that people can screenshot and turn into GIFs is very effective on short-video platforms.
Still unclear
- The specifics of Cui Tianyi's "endorsement" are only what the author posted in screenshots; the original words are unverified. "Official mobile client is coming" is also unverified.
- Stargazer account quality was not spot-checked (the GitHub API did not return the details this time).
- How much of the 220k APK downloads are repeat downloads from upgrades versus active users is unknown. Anonymous telemetry is on by default, so only the author knows.
- Whether the Bilibili public contest offered traffic support or prize money was not found.
- Unknown whether an official mobile release would eat into this project's position.
