2.11M views brought only 150 stars: how a DeepSeek Harness memory plugin ate three months of traffic by arriving 8 days early
What it is A Chinese-language plugin that adds cross-session long-term memory to DeepSeek Harness. One command installs it, and the AI remembers your project conventions even after the session changes. It also bundles todos, multi-session collaboration, dispatching tasks to external AIs, and more.
Why it took off It was ready before DSH launched, was named in QbitAI's first-round roundup, and became the default memory plugin in the Chinese community. A 11-01 Bilibili tutorial with 2.11M views used it for the install demo, and on top of that it held a JS daily-chart spot for 4 straight days, so it only started climbing this week.
CHow to play it: Stop building DSH memory plugins. Pick an ability the official side has said it lacks, or wait for the next platform that opens up plugins. Ship a plugin in the week it launches, with a plain name that an agent can install from one sentence, then go after the first wave of roundup coverage and the top tutorials.

dsh-memory-evolve is a Chinese long-term memory plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH), maintained by one person. The author has only this one repo on GitHub. It gained 7 stars in 164 days, yet the author hasn't committed a single line in those days. A first-part Bilibili tutorial used it for an install demo, and it was then pushed onto GitHub's JavaScript daily chart. What got it picked was arriving 8 days before DSH's official launch, three months earlier.
Danmaku at minute 32
On the morning of Nov 2026, 1 10:22, Bilibili UP host "Git源宝" posted a 50-minute video, "[The Most Complete] DeepSeek Harness Detailed Tutorial." As of 11-06, the video has 2.11M views, 187k favorites, and 10k+ comments, and peaked at No. 4 on the site-wide ranking.
The video starts the "plugin in practice" section at 30:50. Around minutes 32 and 33, the danmaku started flooding with the same name: "dsh-memory-evolve" and "csyangwen/dsh-memory-evolve." Some viewers shared an easier install: "You can tell Ds 'help me install dsh-memory-evolve' and it installs itself"; others got stuck: "Now it won't install." (How long the video covers it, and whether it's the main pick, can only be inferred from the danmaku timing; the subtitle text itself wasn't checked.)
The next day it gained 7 stars, and the day after 31. On 11-03 it squeezed onto GitHub Trending's JavaScript daily chart at No. 5,11-05, with +52 in a single day, its biggest day since the repo was created.

Data: GitHub day-by-day star records and Trending daily charts (11-06); trendoday's chart records.
A comparison with similar repos shows this isn't the whole category rising: over the same period (11-02 to 11-06), the biggest rival dsh-mnemon gained 78, dsh-fish-memory gained 33, dsh-meow-memory gained 22, and this one gained 144. The video also demoed the plugin marketplace dsh-market, whose daily gains in the same period rose from about 150 to about 230. The two match, so the traffic is from this video.
2.11M views brought roughly 150 stars, under one ten-thousandth. The likely reason: Bilibili viewers said "help me install it" to DSH, installed it, and left, with few going to GitHub to star it (inferred). Real install counts are unknown, since DSH plugins pull straight from GitHub with no download counter.
What it is
DSH is the agent framework DeepSeek open-sourced with V4 Pro in 2026-08-13. It now has about 270k stars and claims "everything is a plugin." Its official docs themselves say "cross-session memory is unreliable by default and needs plugin persistence." Start a new session or come back a few days later, and the AI doesn't remember you.
dsh-memory-evolve fills that gap. Install is one line:
`` dsh plugin --profile web add github:csyangwen/dsh-memory-evolve ``
Once installed, it saves your preferences, project conventions, and pitfalls in five tracks (user profile, global facts, key project memories, project log, and daily log), and conclusions tied to a project can be marked as valid only on a specific git branch. The most famous example in the README: "Note: this project's deploy port is 8080". The AI first puts it into a pending-confirmation queue, and only writes it once you nod. Most similar plugins have the AI extract and write memories itself; this one is one of the few that asks the user to confirm.
On top of that it packs in a lot more: four-track todos, self-evolving skills, pulling several AI sessions into a shared "collaboration room" to split work, dispatching heavy jobs to Kimi / Codex / Grok, cross-computer memory sync, prompt management, and session review. Most features are off by default. If the plugin stops DSH from starting, add disabled: true to the config to turn it off first. The README is in Chinese, organized by scenario (who it's for, how to use it, what you get), with an English version alongside.
Why this one: it arrived 8 days early
Its first commit is dated 2026-08-05 and reads "Hermes-style layered memory and self-evolution plugin for DSH," 8 days before DSH's public release. From 08-05 to 08-14, the author committed 20 to 39 times a day. How he got early access to DSH (beta access, the repo going from private to public, or another route) hasn't been found.
The head start paid off on the third day. On Aug 15, QbitAI published "DeepSeek Harness plugins blow up GitHub overnight: long-term memory, virtual pets, 4399 mini-games all here," and outlets such as Sina Finance reposted it. It has a dedicated section on this plugin: "For example, if you tell it today: 'This project's deploy port is 8080.' After you confirm, it writes that into project memory. A few days later, when you open a new session and ask about the deployment config, it can pick right up." That example matches the README's original line word for word, so the reporter wrote it straight from the README.
By Aug 22, in CSDN's ecosystem roundup, it had 205 stars and ranked first among DSH memory plugins (second place was dsh-mnemon with 136). After that, more than a dozen plugin directories and aggregator sites, including dsh-plugin.org, deepseek.club, dsh.plus, DeepWiki, and HotRepo, made pages for it. dsh-plugin.org's October and November comparisons of memory plugins both used it as the representative example. These sites generate content automatically, and the author didn't submit to any of them.
The author's own promotion: we found none. X search over the last 90 days returns nothing for it or the author's name, and there's no article, video or Reddit post by the author. The effort went into the product and docs, merged a few community PRs, 10-29 and adapted it for DSH 0.2.1.
So this is how the climb went: early launch → named in the first wave of press → top star count among memory plugins → became the default answer for DSH memory plugins in the Chinese community → a top tutorial picked it for the plugin demo → the language daily chart amplified it once more.
Lots of features didn't win it
Its most visible pitch is the all-in-one bundle, but the evidence says nobody came for that. The QbitAI piece only covers memory and git branches, and the comments only care about whether it installs and whether it remembers. A third-party comparison also warns that it installs from GitHub and can hit missing build artifacts.
Three plain things did the work:
- Early: the platform officially admitted memory was missing, and this was ready before the platform launched.
- Chinese: Chinese README and Chinese scenario guides, aimed at Bilibili and QbitAI readers.
- The name is the need: dsh-memory-evolve, platform prefix plus the requirement word, easy for directory sites to index and easy for users to ask their agent to install in one sentence.
The feature list had a different use: it fills a row in every comparison table and kept a group of power users (16 open issues, community PRs merged).
Who it's competing with
Memory is the most crowded category in the DSH ecosystem. An openEuler blog tally in Aug 21 already counted 59 of them. Star counts for 11-06 below:
| Project | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| vectorize-io/hindsight | 2025-10, DSH plugin 08-14 | 59k stars, 7 days +2,949 | A general memory layer from a company; the top memory plugin pick on AI 11-03 |
| omdsh-dev/dsh-mnemon | 08-10 | 901 stars | Already surpassed in stars; English, one-step npm install, focused on auditability |
| mnemon-dev/mnemon | 2026-02 | 692 stars | Graph-structured memory, works across several agents |
| adoresever/graph-memory | 2026-03 | 668 stars, barely growing | Knowledge-graph approach |
| FuRongJun-1999/dsh-memory | 08-14 | 605 stars | Research approach, 'white-box AGI' |
| Yuuyuko-uu/dsh-fish-memory | 09-21 | 483 stars, +7 in 95 days | Lightweight, memories fade over time |
| Phant0Meow/dsh-meow-memory | 08-14 | 369 stars | Seven-layer SQLite + nightly consolidation, has a Bilibili promo video |
| OpenViking / MemOS / EverOS / memsearch | 2025–2026 | 2,800–42k stars | A general memory layer from a big company or firm, plugged into DSH |
Even it has been copied: brianwang2007xjtu/dsh-memory-evolve is a full re-upload with a single commit, an English description and 1 stars, yet dsh-plugin.org lists it separately. The 'memory plugin round two' article cites this copy and another same-name copy at piaobo123. There is also a string of same-name forks, plus projects that borrow its ideas, such as GraySilver/dsh-evolve-modes (200 stars) and Kytolly/dsh-evolve-in-git (82 stars).
If it were you
Verdict: study how it took the default slot, but don't build another DSH memory plugin. The memory slot had dozens of entries within a week of DSH's launch, and now a company-backed leader, hindsight (59k stars), sits on top. A newcomer can only move if a top tutorial picks them the way it picked this one, and you can't arrange that.
Good fit for: fast solo developers who already watch new agent platforms and new plugin systems (DSH, the Claude Code-style tools, new IDE plugin marketplaces) and can ship a working plugin in the launch week. Writing Chinese docs and knowing the Chinese community is a plus here.
Bad fit for: anyone who wants to build yet another all-in-one memory plugin for DSH and expects features alone to drive stars, or anyone who won't follow the platform's release rhythm and would rather polish slowly.
How to do it:
- Pick a different slot. Go through the DSH official docs and issues for capabilities that the official side admits are missing or that users keep complaining about. Then check which slot on the plugin directory sites is still empty or only has a few dozen stars. The memory slot is already full.
- Pick a different platform. When the next 'everything is a plugin' platform launches, copy this whole playbook: ship plugins that patch the official gaps in launch week, name them 'platform prefix + requirement word', and say what they do in the first sentence.
- Do the part it didn't do well. 'Won't install' and 'no matching plugin found' in the comments point to its real problems. You could build a lighter version that installs reliably, ships its build artifacts and can be installed by an agent from one sentence, or specifically fix plugins breaking after DSH upgrades.
- Write the README for agents to read: a one-line install command, a one-line disable command, and one example sentence (its 'deploy port 8080' was copied by QbitAI).
How to get users: target the press roundups that run in a platform's first wave (QbitAI, CSDN, the 'plugin explodes overnight' posts). This wave writes about this project even when its author does nothing. Watch the top Bilibili and YouTube tutorials for the platform, and proactively send the repo to the creators, or make the demo path short enough to explain in two minutes. Once the repo is 60 days old, wait for one outside exposure to push you onto the language daily chart. Reaching #5 on the JS daily chart needed only 30+ stars in a day.
When to move: within one to two weeks after the new platform launches. From launch to a full memory slot took only 8 days in the DSH case.
Signs you've read this wrong: ① dsh-memory-evolve keeps gaining dozens of stars a day with no new tutorial, meaning DSH memory demand is far from met and there is still room for newcomers; ② a DSH memory plugin that launched in November passes 1,000 stars within a month, meaning the slot isn't full; ③ DSH ships reliable cross-session memory built in, in which case this whole category shrinks, and 'patch the official gaps' depends on whether the official side fills them itself.

Bottom line
It is one of the earliest long-running Chinese memory plugins in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem. Its first version was committed 8 days before DSH's public launch, so when QbitAI's plugin roundup in Aug 15 named it, it became the 'default DSH memory plugin' in the Chinese community. It gained 164 stars over the last 7 days for a clear reason: on 11-01 the Bilibili creator 'Git源宝' published a 50-minute DSH tutorial with 2.11M plays, which reached the site-wide top ranking at #4, and its 'plugin hands-on' section from minute 32 to 33 used it as the install demo. It then entered the GitHub JavaScript daily chart at 11-03, and the two traffic sources stacked. It did no promotion of its own; 'early, Chinese, and a plain name' got it the default slot in the ecosystem, and a top tutorial then carried it further.

No new commits during the star surge; it was pushed by outside traffic.
- Same-period comparison (our repos, 11-02 → 11-06): dsh-mnemon +78, dsh-fish-memory +33, FuRongJun-1999/dsh-memory +37, dsh-meow-memory +22, graph-memory +4, and it gained +144, the only one accelerating, so the whole category isn't rising together. The video also demonstrated the plugin marketplace dsh-market, whose daily gains in the same period went from about 150 to about 230, which corroborates that the video drove the traffic.
2. Competitors
DSH was open-sourced on 2026-08-13 alongside DeepSeek V4 Pro (deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness, now about 274k stars). The official docs state that "cross-session memory is unreliable by default and needs plugin persistence" source. So memory is the most crowded plugin category in the DSH ecosystem: a CSDN 8-22 count finds 20+ of them, and an openEuler blog 8-21 counts 59 source. The star counts below are from our repo library 11-06:
| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| vectorize-io/hindsight | Open source (cross-agent memory, native DSH plugin) | 2025-10 (DSH plugin 2026-08-14) | 59k stars, 7 days +2949 | A general-purpose memory layer, backed by a company; 爱看AI 11-03's plugin chart lists it as the top recommended memory plugin. | Yuuyuko-uu/dsh-fish-memory | Open-source DSH plugins | 2026-09-21 | 483 stars, +7 in 95 days | Memories fade over time and each carries a timestamp; positioned as lightweight |
| Phant0Meow/dsh-meow-memory | Open-source DSH plugins | 2026-08-14 | 369 stars | Seven-layer SQLite + BM25 + nightly consolidation, with a Bilibili promo video |
| Aik358 / AskTheWay's dsh-auto-memory, PerryLink/dsh-memento, ZSeven-W/dsh-noema, and others | Open-source DSH plugins | 2026-08 to 09 | 120–190 stars | Each does one thing: auto-injection, approval-gated writes, importing Claude Code memory |
| volcengine/OpenViking, EverOS, MemOS, zilliz memsearch | Open-source general memory layer | 2025–2026 | 2.8k–42k stars | General-purpose solutions from large companies or vendors, connected to DSH via plugins |
| Claude Code auto memory / Codex memories / Doubao memory | Big-company features | Already there | — | Tied to their own products; DSH has no built-in memory |
How it differs from these competitors:
- It's an "all-in-one suite". Rivals do only memory. It bundles five-track memory (user profile, global facts, key project memories, project log, daily log), git branch awareness, four-track to-dos, self-evolving skills, multi-session collaboration rooms, external agent dispatch (Kimi / Codex / Grok / Hermes), cross-device memory sync, prompt management, and session review into one plugin, with most features off by default.
- Writing memory requires user confirmation. The AI cannot write key memories on its own; there is a pending-confirmation queue. Most similar plugins auto-extract.
- Chinese-first, zero dependencies, zero core modifications. The README is a Chinese guide organized by scenario, and installation is one line:
dsh plugin add github:.... For non-technical users, just tell DSH "install dsh-memory-evolve for me" and it's installed (a direct quote from Bilibili comments). - It's one of the earliest. The first commit was on 2026-08-05, titled "Hermes-style layered memory and self-evolution plugin for DSH", 8 days before DSH's public release (08-13). How it got so early is unverified; see open questions at the end.
3. Growth tactics (evidence)
- Traffic from a top Bilibili tutorial (confirmed, the main driver of this surge): "Git源宝"'s [most comprehensive] DeepSeek Harness detailed tutorial, published 2026-11-01. Interface data: 2,112,121 plays, 96,746 likes, 187,002 favorites, 10,409 comments, all-time peak ranking #4 site-wide (Bilibili view API, his_rank=4). The "plugin practice" segment starts at 30:50. Comments cluster at minutes 32–33 with "dsh-memory-evolve", "csyangwen/dsh-memory-evolve", "tell Ds 'install dsh-memory-evolve for me' and it installs itself", and "github.com/csyangwen/dsh-memory-evolve can't be installed now". An article by 爱看AI 11-03 also covers the tutorial's explanation of "how Memory Evolve handles cross-conversation memory" source. 2.11M plays produced only about 150 stars, a low conversion rate, because most Bilibili viewers simply install the plugin inside DSH with one sentence and don't star it on GitHub.
- GitHub Trending language chart (confirmed, amplified the traffic): the repo had been up about 60 days and was eligible for trending. The JavaScript daily chart has a low bar: gaining 30+ stars in a day can land you in the top 5 (on 11-04, #5 required only 36 stars). From 11-03 to 11-06 it stayed on the JS daily chart for 4 days source, and aggregator sites like HotRepo listed it on that basis source.
- QbitAI coverage (confirmed, laid the early foundation): On 2026-08-15, QbitAI published "DeepSeek Harness plugin goes viral on GitHub overnight: long-term memory, virtual pet, 4399 mini-games all here", devoting a section to it, with the example "this project's deployment port is 8080". Sina Finance and others reposted it source. By 8-22 it was the most-starred memory plugin for DSH.
- Automatically indexed by plugin directories and SEO sites (confirmed): more than a dozen sites, including dsh-plugin.org, deepseek.club, dsh.plus, dshhub, dshfind, alldsh, deepseekharnessplugins, and DeepWiki, have created pages for it. dsh-plugin.org's 10-12 memory-plugin comparison and its 11-01 "Memory Plugins Round 2: evolve, mnemon, and core-memory" both treat it as representative source. These sites are entirely automated content; the author did not pay for placement.
- Self-promotion by the author (not found): The X corpus (x-radar) returns no hits for it or the author's name in the past 90 days; no articles, videos, or Reddit posts by the author were found. The author's effort went into the product and docs: bilingual READMEs, scenario guides, a CHANGELOG, and merged community PRs #50, #52, #58.
4. Why it can break out
- Timing: DSH became the hottest project on GitHub right at launch (now about 270k stars), and the official docs openly said there was no reliable cross-session memory. The plugin was ready before launch and caught the first wave of "DSH plugin goes viral overnight" coverage.
- Took the default slot: QbitAI named it, and it had the most stars at August, making it the default answer for "DSH memory plugin" in the Chinese community. When tutorial creators picked a plugin to demonstrate, this was the natural choice.
- Carried by a top tutorial: This wave's +164 stars were not driven by the plugin itself. A 2.11M-view general tutorial used it as the demo, on top of 4 days of exposure on the JS daily chart.
- Good enough at the product level to install easily and understand quickly: one command to install, a
disabled: truefallback for troubleshooting, and a Chinese README explaining use cases, so it could be demoed fully in a video in two minutes. These made it a viable demo pick; feature breadth was not the reason.
5. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off
Its differentiation is breadth (an all-in-one suite of memory, to-dos, skills, multi-session orchestration, and external dispatch) plus Chinese-first, confirmed writes. But the evidence suggests breadth was not the main reason it took off: QbitAI mentioned only memory and git branches, the video comments cared only about "can I install it, will it remember", and third-party comparison articles even warned it may need to be installed from GitHub, where build artifacts can be missing. What actually worked was being earliest + Chinese + a plain name (memory-evolve), which secured the default slot. The breadth keeps it on feature-comparison tables and retains a group of power users (16 open issues, with community PRs merged).
6. Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: It is widely seen in the DSH community: covered by QbitAI, demonstrated in a 2.11M-view Bilibili tutorial, and indexed by more than a dozen plugin directories. Across GitHub as a whole, 627 stars is still a small repo, and there is no discussion on X. It's an open-source project with no revenue.
- Copycats and forks: brianwang2007xjtu/dsh-memory-evolve (only 1 commits, the whole project re-uploaded, English description, 1 stars) and piaobo123/dsh-memory-evolve are both listed separately under the same name on dsh-plugin.org, and dsh-plugin.org's "Round 2" article cites pages for these two copies. There are also 534056668, LosEcher, qiyeren, Ricardowindoy and several other same-name forks. Similar ideas include dsh-evolve on deepseek.club, Kytolly/dsh-evolve-in-git (82 stars), GraySilver/dsh-evolve-modes (200 stars), and dsh-continual-harness.
7. What others can borrow
- Launch on the platform immediately, ideally before launch day: On a new "everything is a plugin" platform, the first projects to fill a gap the official docs admit exists (here, memory) get named in the first wave of media roundups and keep the default slot long-term.
- Name it after the need: names like dsh-memory-evolve, "platform prefix + need keyword", make it easy for directory sites to index it and for users to have an agent install it with one sentence.
- Make it readable by agents: put a one-line install command and disable instructions in the README, so a user can hand the repo URL to DSH and have it installed. This is what got it picked as a demo.
- Watch top tutorials: a platform's top tutorial (here, 2.11M views) will demo one or two plugins, and whichever is chosen picks up long-tail traffic. You can proactively contact these creators or make the demo path as smooth as possible.
- Watch the language chart from day 60: the daily bar for small languages and niche categories is only 30 new stars, so one outside exposure is enough to push a repo up, and charting then amplifies the traffic further.
8. Still unclear
- The first commit (08-05) predates DSH's public release (08-13). How the author got DSH early (beta access, a leaked build, or a repo that was private and later renamed) has not been verified.
- How long the video demoed it, and whether it was the main pick, can only be inferred from comment timestamps (minutes 32–33). The subtitle text was not available.
- Star-level breakdown (who starred it, any star inflation) could not be pulled because the GitHub API quota ran out. The fork/star ratio is normal, with no suspicious signals.
- Actual install count is unknown: DSH plugins install directly from GitHub, with no download counter. Comments like "can't be installed now" and "plugin not found" suggest installation failures may have cost some users.
