# A dozen plugins with the same name launched in the same week, and only this one got 5,000 stars: bringing Wallpaper Engine into the DeepSeek chat box

**What it is** A UI plugin for DeepSeek Harness: it puts the Wallpaper Engine wallpapers you've already subscribed to on your computer (including animated scene wallpapers) behind the DSH chat window, adds liquid glass and the Big Fat Fish mascot, and installs with one command.

**Why it took off** Most rivals at the time could only play videos and images, and scene wallpapers got just a static frame. This one wrote its own rendering engine so scenes actually move. Two demo videos the maintainer posted on Bilibili (42k and 79k views) each brought a jump in stars, and then 10-22 coincided with the fish disaster and a #5 spot on Trendshift's JavaScript daily chart.

**C** **How you can follow it** Don't copy the plugin, copy the method: in the next AI client that just opened up plugins, plug in the big asset users already have on hand, pick the hardest piece everyone else skipped and build it into a demo-ready product, then film the demo yourself and write the title around the difference.

Grade C: this slot in DSH already has a recognized first place, and the three followers who ported it to Codex and ZCode each got 0–4 stars. Its win also depended on timing, when the new host had just opened plugins, plus a one-off wave like the fish disaster. Followers can only copy the method. What's being whispered in niche circles

到 11 月 6 日,它有 5,280 个 star(GitHub,当天晚些时候是 5,498)。

### What it is

DSH is an agent framework DeepSeek open-sourced in Aug 13 (274k GitHub stars), built around "everything is a plugin," and its web UI defaults to a plain chat box. One Cnblogs "must-install plugins" list put it bluntly: "plain chat box, too bare."

What this plugin does fits in one sentence: **it puts the Wallpaper Engine wallpapers you've already subscribed to behind the DSH chat interface.** One command, `dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-wallpaper-engine`, installs it, and it's the same package on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It supports scene, web, and video wallpapers, plus liquid glass, color schemes and fonts, the mascot (Big Fat Fish, DeepSeek's whale girl), click effects, and syncing with the Big Fat Fish desktop pet. The README's first paragraph makes a point of saying the plugin "does not register tools with the agent, inject prompt text, or add model token overhead." It's free, MIT-licensed, and the only support link is the maintainer's tip QR code.

### Why this one and not the other ten

First, the rivals (GitHub, 11-06):

| Project | Launched | star | How far along |
|---|---|---|---|
| **elysia395/dsh-wallpaper-engine** | 08-16 | 5,280 | Real-time scene wallpaper rendering, web, video, and image slideshows, the whole look |
| codeMonkey-Pine/dsh-wallpaper | 08-17 | 8 | Images, video, and web only; scenes get softened into a static preview; no updates after 8-20 |
| yu502950715yang/dsh-use-wallpaper | 08-17 | 9 | Also renders scenes live in the browser (three.js + WASM), but nobody demoed it and it isn't actively updated |
| Ayase34/wallpaper-plugin | 08-18 | 14 | Selling point is "let AI design the interface," doesn't connect to WE scenes; 11.7k views on Bilibili |
| Same-name plugins by marlonLau, TianYa-DAO, drmi5446, Weilv-D, mhwww | 08-16 ~ 08-23 | 0–6 | Only images, video, or web |
| zhu1090093659/dsh-web (bundle package) | 08-12 | 10,117 | Has a sub-plugin that plays WE videos, no scene rendering |

The key is the third column. The most numerous and best-looking pieces in the Wallpaper Engine Workshop are **scene wallpapers** : particles, skeletal animation, things that move with music and the mouse. They aren't video; they're WE's own format, and running them in a browser means rewriting a whole renderer. Nearly every rival skipped this part: either unsupported or reduced to a static frame.

This project didn't skip it. Three core developers wrote a WebGL rendering engine, WebWallGL, supporting particles, puppet skeletons, SceneScript, audio reactivity, and mouse interaction. When rendering fails, it degrades in steps (live render → embedded MP4 → static frame), so something always shows on screen. In 82 days the main branch got 1,663 commits (GitHub API), split into 8 optional sub-packages, while most same-name rivals stopped within a week or two.

But hard differentiation alone isn't enough. dsh-use-wallpaper also did live scene rendering, yet has only 9 stars; its self-promo post on linux.do got 251 views and 2 likes. The difference: **here, someone filmed the difference.**

### Where the stars came from: one step per video

Daily new stars plotted against the Bilibili videos (Trendshift daily data):

| Phase | Daily new stars | What happened those days |
|---|---|---|
| 8-16 ~ 9-25 | 1–10 | Demo videos 8-17 and 8-21, with 1,677 and 1,385 views |
| From ¥9-26 | 30–49 | 9-26 video "What! You can have a little red car in dsh too… scene wallpapers no longer have to be shown as static frames," 41.9k views |
| From ¥10-08 | 65–90 | 10-07 "I moved wallpaper into dsh!", 79k views |
| 10-22 ~ 10-28 | 147 → 369 peak | v1.4.0 released; the "fish disaster" hit the media; entered Trendshift's JavaScript daily chart, ranked #5 on 10-24 |
| 10-29 ~ 11-06 | 185–232 | Dropped off the chart, settled at around 200 per day |

A few things are worth unpacking.

**The videos were made by the maintainer.** "生鱼o_o" is the "Fish" the README names as the tip recipient, and also Fish-under-sea, the fifth-largest contributor to the repo. The account has only 9 videos, and both breakout videos spell the difference out in the title: "scene wallpapers no longer have to be shown as static frames." The small account broke out on content, not followers.

**The fish disaster was a wave from outside.** Around Oct 22, a flood of DSH-driven whale-girl accounts filled Bilibili comment sections, dubbed the "fish disaster." This plugin's mascot happens to be the Big Fat Fish, and its daily stars jumped from about 70 to 147,10-24 to 369 on 10-22; similar projects like the Big Fat Fish desktop pet rose together during the same period. More than half the total stars came after 10-22. The Trendshift listing and the wave happened almost simultaneously, and there's no clean way to split credit between them.

**It turned the chart placement into a trophy.** The top of the README shows Trendshift badges for its best daily and weekly ranks, plus an npm monthly download badge. It never made GitHub's trending page.

**Then curated lists and directories carried it.** awesome-dsh-plugin says "want to use the local Wallpaper Engine wallpapers as a background: dsh-wallpaper-engine"; a Zhihu DSH intro lists it as the 3th recommendation ("the wallpaper-engine from the expert looks really impressive"); Zhihu, CSDN, and Cnblogs "10 must-have DSH plugins / 15 plugins" pieces all include it. The README links a QQ group and a Douyin group; the Douyin group is already at "group 2," though I couldn't measure how far it spread on Douyin.

The English-speaking world is nearly empty: X returns no results for the past 60 days, and there's nothing on HN or Reddit.

### How many people installed it

The main npm package had about 30k downloads in the past 147 days, and from Oct 24 to 29 it averaged over 8,000 a day, falling to around 5,000 a day in November (npm, includes mirror syncs and CI, so not a count of installs). Only about 2% of users forked it, lower than other popular DSH plugins (the desktop pet dsh-pet is about 8%): the people coming in are ordinary users installing a plugin, not people there to modify code.

One small design choice is worth copying: starting with v1.4.0, the first install automatically applies a "dark + author's own" preset. The first thing a user sees after installing is the look from the video.

### Is anyone copying this playbook?

The dozen same-name DSH plugins launched in the same period, so they don't count as copying it. The ones really copying the playbook moved the "WE wallpaper into an AI tool interface" idea to other hosts: SDKsun/codex-wallpaper-engine (10-29,1 stars), Mazawar/zcode-wallpaper (10-26,4 stars), and shifengciyun/zcode-wallpaper-engine (10-25,0 stars). All appeared within a week of its peak, and none had taken off by 11-06.

### If it were you

**C. Worth learning from, not worth chasing.** The WE wallpaper slot in DSH already has a recognized first place. Three people spent 82 days writing a rendering engine; a new one would be the twelfth. The hosts that got ported show the problem: Codex and ZCode lack DSH's "everything is a plugin" ecosystem and have no Big Fat Fish-style built-in traffic, and the ports all sit at single-digit stars. The conditions that made this work (a new host just opening plugins, rivals skipping the hardest part, a creator willing to film videos, and a fish disaster on top) can only be copied in the middle two.

**Who it suits:** front-end developers who can write WebGL or rendering code, or who can tackle a format everyone else skips, and who are willing to film their own demo videos; ideally someone already watching an AI client that just opened its plugin system and has a large Chinese-speaking user base.

**Who it doesn't suit:** anyone wanting to build yet another wallpaper or skin plugin for DSH (wallpapers are taken, and the skin market already has 500+ skins); anyone who only wants to port it as-is to Codex or Cursor (people have tried, and it didn't take off); anyone unwilling to show their face and make content, hoping for organic GitHub traffic.

**How to do it:** copy the method, not the product. In the first two weeks after the next AI client opens its plugin system, find something users already have on hand in volume (wallpaper libraries, music playlists, game saves, theme packs) and plug it in. Among the dozens of same-period plugins, pick the hardest piece everyone else skipped and ship it as a working product with a fallback chain so it doesn't break. Ship new installs with your own best-looking preset, so the first screen is the promo video.

**How to get users** : Make your own Bilibili videos and put the differentiator in the title (theirs says "scene wallpapers no longer limited to static frames"); one video per major release. Use the README as the landing page: animated GIFs, a newbie guide, a leaderboard badge, a one-line install command. Once you're on Trendshift, add the badge, then submit to awesome lists and to the "must-install list" authors.

**When: before it's too late** : No hard deadline, but the window follows the host. In the first few weeks after a new plugin ecosystem opens, same-name plugins flood in, and whoever ships a demo with a real hard differentiator eats most of the share. By the time you read this, this DSH round has already passed.

**Signs you're reading it wrong** : ① Before year-end, a WE wallpaper plugin on Codex, ZCode or Cursor hits a thousand stars in a month. That means switching hosts works, so move up a tier. ② This repo keeps adding ~200 stars a day with no new video and no new trend. That means the plugin market itself keeps sending traffic, and the DSH beautification plugins still have room. ③ The reverse: if daily adds fall back to double digits in December, the heat in this slot has faded along with the DSH plugin wave.

## Why elysia395/dsh-wallpaper-engine actually runs

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: our github database (repo_profile / repo_day), GitHub API, Trendshift page, npm download API, Bilibili video API (accessed via a machine in our China office), Jina search and page text, linux.do post JSON.

### One line

It's a UI skin plugin for DeepSeek Harness (DSH): it puts scene, web and video wallpapers from the local Wallpaper Engine (WE) behind the DSH chat interface, then adds liquid glass, fonts, the mascot (big fat fish) and desktop pet linkage. Aug 16, a dozen same-name plugins launched the same week and the rest stalled at a few stars. This one got traction on a single hard differentiator, that scene wallpapers really animate live, plus demo videos the maintainer posted on Bilibili. 10-22 It then caught the "big fat fish / fish disaster" wave and the Trendshift JS chart, and became the only wallpaper plugin in DSH at scale (5,280 stars).

### 1. The data: three steps, not an overnight hit

Daily star gains (from the Trendshift daily table; matches our github database repo_day starting 10-09):

| Phase | Date | Daily new stars | What happened at the same time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cold start | 8-16 ~ 9-25 | 1–10 | 8-17 and 8-21: the maintainer posted two demos on Bilibili, which got only 1.7k and 1.4k views |
| First tier | From 9-26, 9-30 jumped to 30–49 | 30–49 | 9-26 Bilibili "What! dsh can have little red car too... scene wallpapers no longer limited to static frames" 41.9k views; 9-29 v1.1.0, 10-02 v1.2.0 |
| Second tier | From ¥10-08 | 65–90 | 10-07 Bilibili "I moved wallpaper into dsh!" 79k views, 7,677 likes, 9,144 favorites |
| Third step (peak) | 10-22 ~ 10-28 | 147 → 219 → 369 → 287 → 313 → 265 → 285 | 10-22 v1.4.0 (split into 8 packages, with a new default "dark + author's own" preset); 10-22–24 the "fish disaster" hit Bilibili; from 10-23 it entered the Trendshift JavaScript daily chart, peaking at #10-24 5 |
| Plateau | 10-29 ~ 11-06 | 185–232, flat | Dropped off Trendshift; maintenance still merging PRs at a high pace |

- Totals: 5,280 stars / 102 forks (github database 11-06); GitHub API showed 5,492 stars later the same day. Over the last 7 days +1,391, the previous 7 days +1,973: slowing, but still steady at about 200 a day.

- Within the DSH ecosystem, by 7-day star gains it ranks #6, behind dsh-our-free-model, dsh-Go, the deepseek-harness main project, dsh-purge and cc-switch (github database repo_profile gain_7d). Among pure UI beautification plugins it's first, and it gained more over 10,117 days than the omnibus pack dsh-web (7 stars) (335).

- It also beats the veteran open-source WE add-ons: Almamu/linux-wallpaperengine (2018 years, 4,698 stars), repkg (3,844) and wallpaper-engine-kde-plugin (2,694) have all been passed.

- Development effort: 1,663 commits on main (82 days); contributors YV3507 762, oneincase 378, elysia395 356, yuxilao 36, Fish-under-sea (生鱼) 35 (GitHub API). Issue/PR numbers have reached #327.

- Indirect usage signals: the main npm package dsh-plugin-wallpaper-engine got about 147k downloads over the last 30 days; from 10-24 to 10-29 it averaged over 8,000 a day, falling back to about 5,000 a day in November (api.npmjs.org; the gap in the middle is 0, probably a stats gap; includes mirror syncs and CI, so not equal to installs). Release attachment downloads for v1.4.0: 5,822. The README GIFs are hosted on the media-v1 Release, and that Release's attachment downloads total 894k, mostly from the README page loading the GIFs. That suggests the repo page gets a lot of views (only a rough signal).

- The fork-to-star ratio is about 2%, low among DSH plugins (dsh-pet 8%, dsh-web 6%). Users install the plugin rather than modify the code, which fits its non-developer target. Stargazer quality can't be checked, because the GitHub stargazers endpoint returns 404 for this repo.

### 2. Competitors: a dozen launched the same week, and only this one took off

**DSH plugins that connect to the local WE wallpaper library** (GitHub API, 11-06):

| Repo | Repo created | stars | How far along |
|---|---|---|---|
| **elysia395/dsh-wallpaper-engine** | 08-16 | 5,280 | Live scene WebGL (custom WebWallGL: particles, puppet skeletons, SceneScript, audio reactivity, mouse interaction), web sandbox plus WE API, video transcoding and frame-rate caps, image slideshows, liquid glass, mascot, desktop pet |
| marlonLau/dsh-wallpaper-engine | 08-16 | 2 | Images and video only |
| TianYa-DAO/dsh-wallpaper-engine | 08-16 | 6 | Adds a background layer to the "Desktop & Wallpaper" panel; no updates after 8-19 |
| codeMonkey-Pine/dsh-wallpaper | 08-17 | 8 | Images / video / web; **scenes can only be softened to static previews** |
| yu502950715yang/dsh-use-wallpaper | 08-17 | 9 | Also does live scene rendering in the browser (three.js + Rust/WASM); linux.do self-promo post 251 views, 2 likes |
| Weilv-D/wallpaper-engine-dsh | 08-18 | 1 | Video and web only |
| drmi5446/dsh-wallpaper-engine | 08-18 | 0 | Video and web only |
| Ayase34/wallpaper-plugin | 08-18 | 14 | A wallpaper plugin that "lets AI design the interface"; 11.7k views on Bilibili |
| mhwww/DSH-Wallpaper-Engine | 08-23 | 2 | Only sets Workshop images as the background |
| Chiyang001/dsh-codsh-theme | 10-08 | 10 | Folds WE into a Codex-style theme; 1,938 plays on Bilibili |
| LeeRolling/dsh-chat-wallpaper → dsh-boot-suite | 10-11 / 10-18 | 67 / 75 | Chat background plus boot animation |

**General "beautification / wallpaper" plugins** : zhu1090093659/dsh-web omnibus pack (10,117 stars, includes sub-plugins that play WE videos; SolitudeLin's Bilibili video 8-21 26.3k views), Rainpomelo liquid glass theme (10 stars), xingyingyuzhui/dsh-liquid-glass (15 stars), RevolutionLA/dsh-dream-skin (301 stars), kingOfSoySauce's skin market (304 stars, with 500+ skins), Something11235/dsh-video-skin (107 stars), and dsh-dynamic-wallpaper on deepseek.club (Canvas animation).

**Beyond DSH** : WE itself (paid on Steam, desktop-level), MMFoundation/WallpaperMachine on Mac (1,276 stars, library built in September), linux-wallpaperengine, and so on. These all target the desktop, not the AI chat interface. DSH has no built-in wallpaper support.

**Verdict** : this wasn't first-mover advantage. Everyone started within the same week (8-16 ~ 8-23). Most rivals only support video and images. Scene wallpapers are either unsupported or show a single static frame. But the most numerous and best-looking wallpapers in the WE Workshop are exactly the scene ones. The only other project doing real-time scene rendering, dsh-use-wallpaper, has just 9 stars, no content distribution, and no sustained iteration.

### 3. Where users come from

1. **The maintainer makes Bilibili videos himself (confirmed, and the key factor)** . The UP account "生鱼o_o" (mid 543333664) has only 652 followers and 9 videos. It's the "生鱼 / Fish-under-sea" whose tip QR code appears in the README. He made a collection for the plugin: 8-17 (1,677 plays), 8-21 (1,385), 9-26 (41.9k), 10-07 (79k plays, 7,677 likes, 9,144 favorites, more favorites than likes, a "favorite now, install later" tutorial-style video), a bonus episode 10-07 (900), and 10-30, "Big Fat Fish made a promo video for the wallpaper plugin!!!" (700). The video description claims "nearly a million plays for the deepseek harness connecting the wallpaper plugin." Daily star growth stepped up after the 9-26 and 10-07 releases, within a few days each, which lines up with the timing. The small account broke out on content, not on fans.

2. **Platform event: DSH plugin craze plus "Big Fat Fish / fish disaster" (timing confirmed)** . DSH 8-13 is open source, the core has 274k stars, and the dsh-plugin topic has several thousand repos. The plugin mascot is Big Fat Fish (the DeepSeek whale girl), and it can link up with forks of the dsh-pet desktop pet (dsh-pet-dshwe). From 10-22 ~ 24, the fish disaster hit the media, and this repo's daily star gains jumped from about 70 to 147,10-24 to 369 on 10-22. Other Big Fat Fish-related plugins (desktop pets, QQ bots) also rose together over the same period (see our reports on big-blue-fish-desktop-pet and dsh-aurabot-qq).

3. **Trendshift charts (confirmed)** . From 10-23 to 10-28, it ranked in the top 25 of Trendshift's JavaScript daily chart (#15, #5, #8, #13, #20, #19). The README header displays badges for its best daily and weekly Trendshift rankings, turning chart placement into social proof. It has never appeared on github.com/trending (data card trending_days_any=0).

4. **Plugin directories, navigation sites, and "must-install" lists (confirmed)** . bruc3van/awesome-dsh-plugin lists "want your local Wallpaper Engine wallpaper as background: dsh-wallpaper-engine". Plugin stores such as dshopen.org and dsh.deepseek404.com index it. A Zhihu piece, "Hands-on: getting started with deepseek harness," lists it as the 3nd recommendation ("the wallpaper-engine built by a pro looks really impressive"). Zhihu, CSDN, and cnblogs all have "DSH must-install 10 / 15 plugins" lists, and the Yeyu Piaoling blog wrote a dedicated post. On linux.do, users have mentioned running the WE plugin (topic 3056355).

5. **One command to install, and the default look is the author's own (in-product conversion)** . `dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-wallpaper-engine` installs it in one line. It also has Chinese and English READMEs and a separate beginner guide (README.beginner.md). Since v1.4.0, the first install automatically applies a "dark + author's own setup" preset, so the first thing users see matches the video.

6. **Community (partly confirmed)** . The README includes a QQ group, "DSHWE | LLM discussion group," and a Douyin group, "dshwe exchange 2 group." The groups have up to 2 members, which suggests a user base on Douyin too. I couldn't find the Douyin content itself, since the TikHub Douyin search endpoint was unavailable.

7. **X and English-language communities: none** . An x-radar search for "dsh wallpaper" returned 0 posts in the last 60 days. I found no discussion on HN or Reddit.

### IV. Why this one

- **The need it hits** : the default DSH web interface is "just a plain chat box, too bare" (the cnblogs list's own words). WE has a huge install base in China, and users already have hundreds of subscribed wallpapers. "Move my WE wallpapers into the AI interface I keep open all day" is a demand with zero learning cost. On linux.do, the first reply was "So my xx can go up there?" and the second was "What's most appealing about DSH is the DIY wallpapers."

- **The one hard difference: scene wallpapers actually move** . The title of 9-26 says it outright: "Scene wallpapers are no longer limited to static frames." From that video onward, it went from single-digit daily star gains to 30–50 a day. To make this work, the author wrote a dedicated rendering engine, WebWallGL (oneincase's standalone repo has only 18 stars, so nobody follows the engine itself; its value is entirely realized in the plugin). On failure it degrades step by step: real-time rendering → embedded MP4 → static frame, so something always shows.

- **Visual products spread naturally through video** : Bilibili videos get more favorites than likes, and the README relies on many GIFs and hand-drawn title images, so the repo page itself works as an ad.

- **Engineering intensity far beyond similar projects** : 82 commits in 1,663 days, three people developing continuously, split into 8 optional sub-packages, with release-guard tests and one package across all three platforms. Projects with the same name mostly stopped updating after a week or two.

- **"No tokens consumed"** : it registers no tools and injects no prompts. The README and description both stress zero token overhead, dispelling the worry that plugins slow down the agent or cost money. It's the same selling point as the "no tokens" pitch for the Big Fat Fish desktop pet at the same time.

- **Riding the IP moment** : the mascot is Big Fat Fish, and it can link up with dsh-pet. When the fish disaster hit, it was the best-looking option in the Big Fat Fish theme.

### 5. Differentiation, and whether it's why it took off

Differentiation: in a crowd of plugins that just use WE videos and images as backgrounds, this is the only one that ships **real-time scene wallpaper rendering** as a polished product, layered with a liquid-glass look and a mascot, installable with a single command. **That's the reason, but not the whole story** : dsh-use-wallpaper, which also does real-time scene rendering, has only 9 stars. What decided it was "hard differentiation plus the maintainer making a Bilibili video that demos the difference." The bulk of the growth since 10-22 (more than half of all stars) came from external waves like the fish-disaster meme and Trendshift, plus the fact that it's already recognized as the number one in its category. The strong get stronger.

### 6. Visibility and copycats

- Visibility: **spreading within niche circles** . Individual Bilibili videos have 79k plays; it appears in Zhihu/CSDN lists, awesome lists, and the Trendshift JavaScript chart. But no media outlets or large X accounts have written about it, and English-language coverage is nearly zero. It's free and MIT-licensed, with only a personal tip QR code and no public revenue.

- Copycats: DSH has at least 10 similarly named WE wallpaper plugins, but they all launched in the same period, so they aren't copying it, and none of them took off. The real "copy the playbook" moves appeared on other hosts: SDKsun/codex-wallpaper-engine (10-29,1 stars), Mazawar/zcode-wallpaper (10-26,4 stars), and shifengciyun/zcode-wallpaper-engine (10-25,0 stars), which brought "WE wallpapers in AI coding tool interfaces" to Codex and ZCode, all within a week after its 10-24 peak.

### VII. What to take away

1. When a new host opens a plugin system, plugging in users' existing big asset (their WE subscription library) makes people install it more readily than bundled assets would.

2. In a homogeneous category, find the hardest piece everyone else avoids (real-time scene rendering), turn it into a demonstrable hard difference, and back it with a degradation chain so it never breaks.

3. Small accounts can break out too: for visual plugins, the author shoots short videos personally, with titles stating the differentiator directly ("no longer limited to static frames"). Each major release gets a video, and the growth curve steps up video by video.

4. Defaulting new installs to the author's own preset means the first screen matches the promo video.

5. Treat the README as the landing page: GIFs, hand-drawn title images, Trendshift badges, a beginner guide, and QQ and Douyin groups.

6. The same playbook can be copied to the next AI client (Codex, ZCode, Cursor skins). Some have already tried, but none has taken off yet.

### 8. What's still uncertain

- After 10-29, daily growth of 185–232 stayed unusually flat, and the source is unclear. It could be natural traffic from the plugin marketplace sorting by stars, or something else. The stargazer endpoint is 404, so account quality can't be spot-checked.

- The scale of spread on Douyin (the README has a Douyin group with 2 members) couldn't be measured.

- The video description's "nearly a million plays" is unclear: the Bilibili collection totals about 126k, so Douyin may have been counted in.

- Real install count: unknown how much of npm's roughly 5,000 downloads a day comes from mirrors and CI.

- How much each of the fish disaster and Trendshift contributed: the two happened almost simultaneously in 10-22 ~ 24, so they can't be separated.

- Risks around WE wallpaper copyright and Workshop terms (the plugin only reads locally subscribed files) have not been assessed.
